This morning we're going to be talking about how society altered Easter. There are some out there that want you to believe that Easter is about a rabbit and some eggs. But Easter is more than about some rabbits jumping around giving eggs to kids. Easter is about. The following feature has been rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America.

It is intended for mature audiences and parental discretion is advised. Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power. What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I am Brian. I'm Roger.

I am Misty. I'm Jay. This is Rod. And Marlena. All right, we have a full boat today.

Nice. Are we all going to fit in the theater? We're cramming ourselves in there, whether we like it or not. It'll be lap-on-lap action. I brought my shoe home.

It'll be a reminder of yesterday, so we'll get to that in a minute. This is our special Easter extravaganza, so of course, being many of our holiday situations, we've got to bust out some candy, so hold on. All right. I didn't even think about it until you said something. That's how things work.

It's a holiday. Give me some food, bitches. Is he going to trick us and just give us raw onions? Boiled eggs. Probably.

Mmm, delish. Peeps are disgusting. Boiled eggs. I want good Easter candy. I beat my peep addiction, Brian.

You're going to do this to me? I didn't say you had it. See, remember that time you got in my car and there was like nothing but empty peeps boxes? It was sad is what it was. I don't even think I like peeps anymore, but I'm going to eat one anyway.

My grandma likes them, but only if she opens them and lets them sit for like two weeks first, then she likes to eat them. I want a peach s'more. You know what? I like crunchy peaches. Why wasn't Fox taking advantage of Easter to release chocolate alien eggs?

That's what I want to know. I want an Easter candy in a Halloween dish. You're at Brian's house. Yeah, that's kind of how I roll, actually. All of my other, if you guys noticed, the Christmas candy was in there, too, so.

My only serving dishes are shaped like ghosts and skeletons, I hate to tell you. So if you're getting candy, it's coming in a ghost or a skeleton. All right, so now that we're all hopped up on sugar, we will continue on. So this week's geek activities, I think at least three of us here are all going to have one big intertwined mess of geek activities. I missed at the last minute.

I didn't feel so well Friday night, so I skipped out on this trip to. Horror Hound weekend. Yeah. And Indianapolis. All right.

Yeah, time for the road trip. All right. But I can't wait to hear about. It, though. Well, first of all.

You had to rise at the break of friggin' dawn. Let's get that out of the way first. Misty does not rise before 6 o'clock. What do you think I said? Yeah, I was the only person who was okay with getting up then.

The other two of these members here were not so thrilled about the departure time. Well, it's a two-hour drive. Brian had an interview at 9 o'clock in the morning... So it just sounded like a disaster. And we left at 7.30, so do the math.

So I had to use the hot tub time machine to create time between here and Indianapolis and actually get me there on time. So I actually... Somehow did. I don't know if I circled the earth and turned back time. You drove 90 miles an hour.

Oh, or I just drove really fast. Maybe that was it. Which is odd because Brian usually drives slower than my grandma. So actually going the speed limit, not only just going the speed limit, but going 80 to 90 miles an hour, I was afraid for my life. And if I hadn't been more asleep, then yeah.

I was kind of enjoying it. I just knocked out the whole first row of the peeps. Out of control. And it has begun again. Wow.

Now she's going to have to go to peep AA again. I'm Marlena, and I love peeps. Hi, Marlena. You need to be a PA. Peeps and honors.

Don't peeps, like, solidify in your poop and make it, like, hard to poop? I don't know. I don't know if that's on the package. Warning. It's, like, the opposite of Olean, Olestra, Fetal, Rectal, Sympathetic.

Rectal pluggage. Pluggage. Anyway. Gas with marshmallow discharge. Oh, we're always that kind of joke.

Yeah, really. And I have sugar-coated poop. Oh, Lord. So, yeah, we actually did make it there. Sort of had breakfast with Sid Haig, so that was awesome.

That's cool. Nice. Eggs with the egg in. Well, they messed up his egg, so. Oh, right.

It seems like he has bourbon for breakfast. In the bedroom. Not while I was there. I think there were some orange juice involved. It was a pretty standard breakfast, so that I don't know.

Yes. More Reese eggs there. I haven't eaten anything yet, okay? I need some too, but I'm still yammering on here. Oh, it's leaky.

So. So how did they mess up Sid's eggs? They just got them wrong. How do you do eggs wrong? I mean, they're scrambled.

It's pretty easy. If they're supposed to be over easy and they're not over easy. If they're over medium, I don't remember what the variation was, but they messed it up. Just so many different ways to make eggs. We had issues with that restaurant all day, actually, because their buffet kind of sucked, too.

But anyway. I don't know. Where all do we want to go with this one? Am I allowed to say Tom Savini, I know for a fact, does not wash his hands after he uses the bathroom? And then he was totally touching everything on the buffet.

I don't know how you know. I've heard from several sources. His hands smell like. You were in the men's restroom when Tom Savini was in the restroom. I've heard from several sources.

At least three different people have confirmed that they have been in the restroom while Tom Savini was in the restroom and he left without washing his hands. Lots of people do. Yeah, it's sad. I wash my hands every time. I even go near a bathroom.

I just sterilize it with my own pee. It wasn't dirty when you touched it. Your hands get dirty all of a sudden. On this note, my favorite thing about the weekend is on the table as you come in, they're taking your money and giving you your little wristband, and they're selling T-shirts, and the only other thing they're selling on that table are bottles of Purell. Wow.

I was like, they know this is a dirty crowd. I came with my own Bureau. Yes, sadly. We knew that was coming. But yeah, I just like that they know going in.

They're like, you're going to want to. Dirty bastards. You're going to want to kill some germs while you're at this place because you've seen... Look around you. I mean, Jesus, you've seen the rest of these people.

I include us in that mixture. Nice. Which are we going to put first as far as the crowd-wise? Crowd, I guess you want to go with the problem with the crowd first? Oh, good Lord.

Let's start with the problem. Okay. I heard there was a huge crowd. That would be the problem. That's good for the convention.

Well, but here's the thing. I've been to these pretty much every time. I don't know if I've missed one in Indy since they started doing these, and it's gotten bigger every time. And the last at least three times, each time it gets bigger, and I'm like, okay, they're going to have to do something about this. It's getting to where...

You can't get through. I mean, the lines for the autographs are out into the row. You can't get through the row. People can't get to the tables to buy stuff because people are loitering in front of them talking. Nobody's paying attention to what anybody else is doing.

That's your perspective. I know some people that run cons, and they probably were just giggly happy. They like long lines. It makes them look successful. It makes the celebrities look popular. tons of people coming in means lots of cash flowing around.

I don't mind the lines as much as you can't get through is the problem. And they probably liked it up until this past year because this year the fire marshal showed up. Uh-oh. This year they said this room has reached capacity. So if you want to get in, you wait in the line until people come out.

Oh, God. There was a line all the way out into the lobby. That's what I've said. That's a problem. That's when they've gone too far.

You have to know how big your convention is growing in terms of number of people in space. to to be able to do that you can't just keep letting people. In that's that's what i've been saying i'm like every year i'm like it's getting bigger and it's getting harder to do all this stuff in this one room so this is what makes no sense they got a whole nother room and then they just loaded all the masks and stuff in it and it was the other and hardly yeah the mask fest was going on so they had this whole other room but they didn't put any of the stuff that all the people were going to go to it's like they should have divided stuff up so that half the crowd would have been in that room half would have been in this one and it wouldn't have gotten so out of hand but all the celebrities were in one room yeah and mix it up i know they don't like to do that but it would have made more sense.

But those two things were kind of separate yeah together i mean they were run by different people and stuff so i assume there were some issues. Involved probably but if that was the case they should have gotten a third room and split that stuff. Up well i think the hotel just they're Their convention room is just really small. It's like half the size of where they hold Wonderfest at Executives. Yeah, it's not big enough for what they're trying to do.

This is only, what, their third or fourth year or something like that? I think at least four. But how they've grown in the past couple years is just monumental. And they've been doing like two a year, too. So it's like they're doing this every time.

They should kind of learn things each show and realize they're getting way too big for that room. Was the space as big as last time? It's that same room. Oh, okay. Except it was massively more people.

I mean, as crowded as it was last time, it was probably double that yesterday. Well, that's funny because you can't take, well, in terms of conventions, they had some A-listers. There. Yeah, they did. Like Clive Barker and George Romero.

Now, they may not be A-listers in Hollywood right now, but on the convention circuit, they're A-list guests. Convention names, that's a huge guest. That'll be a huge draw for people, so they should know they're going to bring a lot of people out. And, I mean, at least they put Clive Barker somewhere else. We never even saw him.

I don't know where the hell Clive Barker was, but... He was there. He was down the hallway. He wasn't causing that problem. Elvira was out in a hallway.

I mean, they just shoved her in a hallway by herself. Looking all awesome with her big old boobies. She was awesome, let me tell you. And Marlena's desire to motorboat her boobs. Yeah, I was going to pay $ 20 and stand in line for like four hours for an autograph, but then I was like...

They're not going to let me motorboat her. What's the point? Maybe there's an extra fee for that. I told her that's a much bigger price point, though. She could have slipped you a note like, you know, meet me here around the corner later on at this time so you can get a good...

I. Think that's at least a $ 65 price point. Hey, well, yeah, you know. They are fantastic. They are very, very nice.

I don't know. She really ought to consider that. I mean, she's already got all those people in line. How many would step it up a notch and go ahead and pay the $ 65, 000? Then you'd have to.

Rub the hand sanitizer over Ruby's face. You don't want secondhand face dirt in there. You don't want sloppy motorboats in there. Nobody wants that. Sloppy second motorboats.

See, this is the whole problem. That's why it's pricey. That and razor burn. Yeah. Yeah, that would suck for her after a while.

Guys like Roger. Yeah, I really love those things. Oh, it should be like shaped boobs. Shaped cleavage. You get one of those chin things that guys at the restaurants wear that have the beards.

Chin nets. You have to coat everyone in plastic before they do it. You just pull down to your chin, I guess. You haven't seen those? Some of the guys that have the beards, they have a hair net for beards.

So it's a chin strap. Yeah, it's a chin strap. Weird. It's pretty funny. It's a chin net.

This is what it's come to now. Can't stop my look. Yeah, that was the main issue with the crowd. Other than that, I mean, there was a lot of cool people there. There was a lot of stuff going on.

I mean, it was a good show otherwise. I met my number one fan. That was pretty fantastic. That's true. We did spend a lot of time with Randy, and that's actually a plus.

We met several of our listeners. It was pretty exciting. Metal Mikey. Metal Mikey was there. Wasn't Randy's wife disappointed that she didn't get to see Ron?

We made many, many comments, and... He said you just wussed out and you were afraid she was going to kick your ass. I'm pretty sure she could take it. That was all in good humor. I didn't mean anything about Randy's wife leaving him or anything like that.

I forgot to say. Well, we sat there with her the whole time and She's pretty awesome. She's pretty awesome. Well, good. I'm glad.

His lovely wife, Lisa. So, yes, thank you, Lisa, for showing up and being cordial to the rest of us and not taking us down. And letting me borrow your phone charger. So, did you guys see Richard Lynch? I was kind of excited about him being there.

I saw him at the table. Where? Where was he at? He was down the row. Oh, so like behind the line for Sid so I couldn't see him?

No, he was way down at the other end. A B-movie legend, if you ask me. Yeah, he's... Sword and the Sorcerer. Oh, I love him.

He's getting up there. Oh, I'm sure he's getting up there. Yeah, I was just like, wow. But yeah, if nothing else, aside from all the awesome celebrities, yeah, we did have, again, a little podcasting convention. Like, that's half of what we did there.

It's like we hung out and bugged the Nightloon podcast crew. Did you see the Universal Monster Army display? theirs is always really cool. I don't know did we was that in the mask room it was if so is it the same one that kind of tours around because it looked like the same setup that they have at wonderfest so yeah i saw i was just like that's probably gonna be wonderful i don't think i looked that closely because i knew it. Was some different stuff it depends on the theme. They're they did have some some uh some old costumes and stuff so that was.

Cool yeah that We did see Andy. He was super adorable in his Sam costume. Which podcast is he from again? He's from My Living Podcast. I think we all decided that Andy was adorable in the costume and out.

I'm serious. He had a little butt flap and everything. Oh, my God. What costume was this? Sam from Trick or Treat.

Oh. He was awesome. Sam Hain character. Wow, that's pretty cool. It was a great costume.

I feel like I've seen a costume of that character. Yeah. He's so adorable as it is. Oh, my gosh. Can't argue with that, really.

He loves the Asians. That seems to be the case. I do. I do like to be some Asians. Oh, but yeah, what else?

But yeah, we ran into most of them. Randy, Inquestionable Mike, Metal Mikey, and I did meet John Schnarz, who's from the Bloody Good Horror, which he's one of my favorite reviewers, so that was kind of cool. Yeah, that's a pretty good saying. But yeah, I don't know. Any other fun activities this week?

Well, nothing quite so epic as that, but one of my friends, we got to the bottom that there are many, many movies that she has not seen that I would consider a crime against humanity. Basically... Never-ending story she's never seen. The hell you say. Exactly.

It's just wrong. And she's never seen the original Class of the Titans. Did she not have a childhood? See, that's what I was like. We kept in a box under the stairs.

She was robbed of her childhood. I mean, did you not have a TV? Or you just had a Betamax player and you had a limited selection? Amish? Yeah.

Came up. But so we sat her down and we watched the original Class of the Titans, which she hadn't seen, which also is foreshadowing to the new movie coming out. And. You know, we all think it's awesome because we'd seen it before and we remember nostalgically, like, you know, where we were when we saw it as kids and how it amazed us. You can't sit somebody in front of that movie now.

Yeah, it's just cold. And, you know, she's kind of like, what the fuck is this? And we're like, it's Clash of the Titans. And I'm trying to explain, you know, how awesome the technology was back then to get the effects. You know, one of my favorite scenes is the Medusa scene where, you know, not only is it stop animation, but you have all the light and the reflection and all that going on at the same time, and it looks good.

It's not like it's some weird calliope on the Medusa figure. It's really solid. So I'm trying to play it up, talk it up as we're watching, and she just was having nothing of it. But I think she had a good time anyways. So that's kind of like my, I don't know, my public service.

You just can't get the impact now, really. No, not at all. And I forgot how small the scorpions were in the original version. They're freaking huge in this new movie. They look like they're titanic.

So, yeah, that's pretty much the extent of my geekery, geekness. Well, I didn't watch much. We watched. A perfect getaway, which was completely predictable. It was okay.

It was enjoyable. I liked it. I liked it, but it was one of those, I knew how it was going to end. When I saw the trailer, I'm like. Yeah, we knew how it was going to end during the trailer.

I had an idea about what was going to happen, but it didn't really play out exactly the way I thought. I don't know. I didn't expect the drug aspect of it, but I knew how it was going to pretty much end. I've become a huge Timothy Oliphant fan almost overnight. He was pretty fantastic.

I like him, and I saw The Crazies, which I loved. And then I've been watching Justified. And have you guys seen that? It's based on an Elmore Leonard story. It's set here in Kentucky and stuff.

It's on FX. It's awesome. And he's really, really good at it. Yeah, I mean, other than that, I didn't watch anything else. Yeah, I was off Friday.

Slacker. I went to see DRI Thursday. You didn't get a knife in the parking lot. I didn't get a knife in the parking lot. That's always a plus.

Yeah, I had to leave because of some neo-Nazi problems. Don't you hate when that happens? Yeah, so I only got to see three songs. Did somebody get knifed in the parking lot? No, but there was a knife fight that was probably going to break out.

Nice. I really didn't want to get caught in the middle of it. Freaking West Side Story, son. Yeah, some problems. But I took Friday off, and I had my kid this weekend, which is why I didn't go with you guys up to Indianapolis.

So I had a mini Steve McQueen fest. I went back and watched The Great Escape. Um, I've seen parts of it, but I've never seen the whole thing as a whole. And, uh, I love war movies. And if you want a really good war movie, this has got to be one of the best war movies.

And it's got Steve McQueen riding a triumph and he's jumping over fences and stuff. And it's got Charles Bronson in it. It's got James Coburn. It's got, uh, James Garner, you know, I mean, it's got a whole, just a full cast and I used to always think it was just all about Steve McQueen, but when you go back and watch it, it is, it's like everybody plays their part. It's such a great movie.

The ending's kind of a downer, but you know, it's great that it was based on a true story. You know, how many happy war movies are there? There's not a whole lot, but you're just really pulling for these guys throughout the whole movie. But, uh, you know, I watched that and then I watched on any Sunday, um, which kind of follows, I guess it's kind of a quintessential motorcycle movie. I've got to write it down because I forget shit, so I've got to write it down on notes.

But yeah, it was filmed in 1971, and it covers pretty much anything for people who like motorcycles. It's got flat track, dirt track, motocross, all types of stuff. They go through the Mexican 1,000-mile trial, but it basically follows Mert Lawal, who was number one back then. And they kind of, they have to race so many races. I think he raced 27 races against some of the guys like Gene Romero and Dick Mann and ended up actually losing that year, lost the number one spot to Gene Romero.

But what can I say? I like motorcycle movies, but it's got a little bit of, it's got a little bit of Steve McQueen in it. He's doing some motorcycle stuff and it's, it's pretty cool. It's, it's a good seventies film. Even, even today, the music's kind of dated, but other than that, it's got some great racing scenes.

And, I mean, that's back when guys were like, I don't know. The way I feel nowadays, most people aren't as tough as they were back then. And looking at these guys doing some of this shit, you're just like, damn, man, I can't believe that. You were badass. Yeah.

Very much so. And other than that, I exposed my kid to, oh, jeez, now I can't remember the name. Indiana Jones. Yeah, Indiana Jones and the fucking. Temple of Doom.

Temple of Doom, yeah. She got to watch Temple of Doom. Kalimaz. Yeah, Kalimaz. How'd she take the heart rip scene?

Like nothing. I was going to say, she's probably fine. Yeah. She was like, she's like, wow. Yeah.

She's like, wow. Why did he rip his heart out? And I was like, uh, I don't know. Cause he did. Cause he's a bad guy.

Monkey brains. Yeah. Yeah. That's what she didn't get. That's the, that's the thing.

I remember when I saw this in the theater. Oh man. And I remember as a kid being completely grossed out by the brain. I was like, Ooh. And she was just like sitting there watching.

She was like, they're eating monkey brains. And I was like, yeah. And she goes, That's yucky. She's chowing on her pepperoni pizza. Yeah, I was like, ugh.

It looks like slushy to me. Oh, that so just bothered me as a child. It was gross. It warped my brain. Well, that part in the snake, when the eels come out.

Remember the beetles? She's like, they're eating. Bugs, dude. And I was like, yeah. She's taking this well.

I don't want to. Make her appreciate, but we make her for dinner then. Yeah, I know, really. Some desensitized children. Well, she grew up on Buffy, so she's used to most of that stuff.

I mean, when she was like, what, five? I don't remember how old she was, but she was pretty young. This was a few years ago. We were going to the flea market, and she could sing the entire Mystery Science Theater theme song. Nice.

Yeah, that was the other thing we watched. We watched, again, Eegah. Nice. Have you watched that now? Pretty much every weekend.

She's obsessed with that movie. She loves Eegah, and she loves pod people, so she watches them on a continuous loop. Freaking sweet. Nice. And, yeah, she starts quoting the entire movie.

While we're in the car. Is she quoting the movie or the Mystery Science Theater crew? She'll quote the movie and the crew. Wow. And she tries to get.

Which is not as fun as it sounds, trust me. Yeah. Just not for you. Yeah. Sometimes I join in on it just to get her going, but then other times I'm just kind of like, okay, all right, that's enough.

But other than that, I think that's about all we did. Other than. Being a complete geek and putting Raiders of the Lost Ark and Hellboy on my phone so that I could watch them when I was bored. Now you're a mobile geek. Now I'm a mobile geek, amongst other movies.

That's it for me. What about you, Rock? I was kind of a shut-in this week, so I actually watched quite a bit of stuff. I had my niece last weekend, so... I exposed her to zombie land.

She's 12 and she loved it. Yeah. Um, her only complaint was it wasn't long. Enough, which we were all kind of like, we all said that we. Get to the end and I'm like, well, this is the big ending.

And she's like, this is the end. So that went over really, really well. Awesome. And we played some video games and, but during the week, uh, I wasn't feeling that good. And I kind of was a shut in.

I watched a bunch of stuff. So I brought some stuff with me to remind me what I watched. Um, First, I dipped for the first time into the world of Dark Shadows, the 1960s, the early 70s, so goth-y. Yeah. My mom and I used to watch that all the time.

Well, when I was a kid, I had a famous Monsters magazine. It had a picture of Barnabas Collins on it, and he was looking through the window and snarling, and it looked really scary. So I tried to watch it a couple of times, and nothing happened while I watched it. Yeah. So I lost interest, and then I remember being in college, and there were some guys that were fans.

And they were watching the Ben Cross 1990-something reboot of it, and that didn't last very long. So finally, MPI just released these two volumes of Dark Shadows that are like three-hour movie compilations of some of the storylines. One's called The Vampire Curse, and it's like the origin of Barnabas Collins. And the other one's called The Haunting of Collinwood, which is the whole storyline involving Quentin's ghost trying to possess the kids in the house and that kind of thing. And the good thing about these arcs You don't have to watch the entire show, which sometimes you can watch hours and almost nothing will happen.

It is a soap opera. Like most soap operas. This kind of compiles the main juice of the stories into a nice three-hour kind of content. And you don't feel like you're missing anything. It feels like it's all in one story.

So this was kind of my first dive into Dark Shadows, and I actually did enjoy it. I'm not sure I need to go and get every episode. I think I'm happy with these. But if you're interested in Dark Shadows and you're not like a super fan, you might check out these abbreviated versions because they're actually pretty decent. Cool.

I was always shocked that that was on TV at that time and ran for years. That seems so weird. There's a small audience for that kind of stuff, but I can't believe a big enough one that warranted being on TV every day. Well, America went through that monster craze in the 60s with the Munsters and the Addams Family. But it just seems so weird, because wasn't it during the daytime?

Yeah, it was. It was on during a soap opera. It was produced by Dan Curtis. It's like Housewives and stuff. It's so weird that that found its niche at that point in time.

Well, it had that whole kind of mysterious. Thing to it. But if you watch it long enough, it has everything. It's got vampires, it's got werewolves, there's zombies, there's a Frankenstein monster type of character named Adam at some point. There's like witches, there's, you know, they have seances and ghosts and all kinds of stuff.

It's just that it's stretched over a very long period of time because it was on every day. One of the interesting things about watching it is They shot most of it. It wasn't live, but it was close enough that they only did, like, one take. So when they flub, it's on there. God.

If somebody bumps into the camera and the camera jogs around, that's on there. Wow. I mean, they don't go back and reshoot it or anything. No. So it's...

I did enjoy it. I don't know if I'm ever going to become a super fan of it. Like, some people definitely are. Yeah. But I did enjoy these condensed versions, though.

Cool. What else did I check out this week? Oh, I picked up the. There's a series of trailer DVDs called 42nd Street Forever. And Volume 5 is the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema version, which I've been to the Alamo a bunch of times down in Austin, Texas.

And it basically is a lot of their craziest trailers edited together with commentary by the guys that are actually the programmers. There's an interview with Tim League and a 30-minute documentary about the Alamo and that kind of stuff. So I recommend... if you're really into this type of trash cinema, to look up this, too, because it's pretty cool. Those whole series have been pretty popular, so yeah. Yeah.

It's funny that they just now got to the Alamo, because, yeah, they're on five. Yeah, this one is a very specific one. It's all about what goes on at the Alamo, and it's all from their trailer stash, so that's pretty cool. Last night, or yesterday, I picked up. This thing at Target, you know how they have all those four favorite films put together?

You can get four Hammer and Dracula movies or all the Lethal Weapon movies or the Nightmare on Elm Street movies. Well, they had this urban action collection, which I was kind of surprised to find at Target. I love Jim Kelly. So I watched Black Belt Jones last night. Awesome.

I haven't seen that movie in years. I love that movie. He's got an immaculate fro. He's pretty charismatic. I won't say he's the greatest actor of all time, but, man, he's got this style about him and his style about his kung fu, and it's great stuff.

I mean, the fight scene at the end of this movie that takes place in this industrial car wash where there's all these suds everywhere, and the bad guys just keep popping up out of the suds. It's like a video game. It's pretty amazing. And it's got four great movies on here, and I haven't got to the other ones yet. There's another Jim Kelly movie on there called Hot Potato, which I've never seen and I'm looking forward to watching.

It's got the Jim Brown, Fred Williamson, Jim Kelly 3 The Hard Way, which I have seen before, but not remastered or anything like that on this DVD, so I look forward to that. That's a pretty good one. And Black Samson. Which I haven't seen before. And the guy runs around here.

I kind of wanted to see that one. He has a big cane. He has a lion sidekick in the city. Nice. It looks pretty awesome, but I haven't seen it.

I'll have to report back after I've watched it. But kind of an unusual set of movies to find for $ 8 at Target. Yeah. Target's awesome. I picked up another thing last night, and I was actually wanting us to just watch this today because I love it.

And I think we're going to have to work it in. I think it's coming. Yeah. It's remastered a version of The Wraith from 1986, which at the time had all these people that really became famous in it that weren't yet. We've not discussed it that much if we're planning on doing it for the show a week after.

Yeah, we can do a minor. I'm just going to say what it's like. It's got Charlie Sheen in it, Martin Sheen's kid. It's got Nick Cassavetes, John Cassavetes' kid. It's got Randy Quaid in it.

It's got Clint Howard, you know, Brant Howard's kid in it. And a really, really hot young Sherilyn Finn before even Twin Peaks came out. It's a car movie, it's a sci-fi movie, and it's really, it's almost like a Road Warrior Revenge type of sci-fi movie. It's very, very strange. I'm sure not a whole lot of people have actually seen it.

It's one of those, yeah, if you've been around long enough, it was on cable all the time back then. I remember seeing it. It sort of disappeared after that. To me, this movie is sort of always intertwined with, like, Time Rider, The Adventures of Lyle Swan, you know, that motorcycle. I kind of want to watch that one.

I like that one. Except the DVD of that has an edited ending, which I hated, so I can't really watch it. But I can't believe somebody actually remastered this. It even says on the cover, featuring the music of Billy Idol, Robert Palmer, Ozzy Osbourne, and Motley Crue. And that's the kind of stuff that usually holds these movies back from being re-released.

Apparently they worked it out because their names are all on the cover. So go get yourself a copy and watch it because we'll be watching it soon. And I think that's really all. I watched endless amounts of TV, but I won't even go into it. You're on a hills marathon again, huh?

Not a hills marathon. Marlena, what about you? What did you watch? I know you were excited and bubbly and wanted to talk about it earlier. Last night I watched this movie called The Children.

It was listed under Netflix as a zombie movie, which I wouldn't necessarily. Oh, yeah, I. Wanted to watch that, but I didn't get around to it. This is the bus movie? Yes.

Oh, yeah, I've got a copy of that. I wouldn't necessarily say that it was. The premise of the movie, these children are coming home from school, and they pass through this, like, toxic yellow cloud of smoke. Awesome. Yeah.

So, it's... This is great. This movie sounds awesome already. Yeah, it's... The sheriff notices the bus, like, kind of parked sideways on the road.

So he gets out and he looks in the bus and he's like, I can't find the children. He doesn't bother to look in the woods or across the street. He just stands in a circle and looks around, and he's like, I don't know where the children are, which was ridiculous. But basically, the children run around with their arms stretched out trying to hug people. Yeah, they're zombies, basically.

Yeah, but they don't ever eat anybody. They burn you a lot. Yeah, all they do is touch you, and then you are burned, and you look like. They try to hug people. Yeah.

Which is why I try to avoid hugging kids at all costs. Yeah. I know better. I can burn you. With their that's evilness last time a kid hugged me i screamed and she got scared and.

Cried weird that shouldn't surprise anyone no this movie. Is great i've seen it it's it's really good it's really creepy especially if you're creeped out by a kid. That ought to do it i'm not a big fan of sorry i thought it was kind of ridiculous on some levels it wasn't a terrible movie but it was definitely a movie best enjoyed drunk. With friends possibly although it. Wasn't um.

Sitting and talking through the whole movie and making fun of it like Mystery Science Theater style. I love the music. Yeah, the music is pretty dramatic. Oh, the best part of the movie, the children come at you and you know that they're evil because they have black fingernails. Uh-oh.

Yeah. Oh, shit. At the end of the movie, one of the main characters, his wife was pregnant. She gives birth and she's like breastfeeding the child and he looks down and he has a horrible look on his face because he notices the baby has black fingernails has he been a hot topic. Is that what happened yeah keep your babies out of hot topic It was pretty.

I like how in Night of the Living Dead you have to shoot the zombies in the brain, and they've come up with their own thing. It's like the only way to stop the kids is to cut their hands off. Yeah. Weird. Okay.

How do you pitch a movie like this? I mean, like, crazy. No, no, no, wait. Get this. Crazy hugging children that burn people alive.

It would have scared the hell out of me. It would, but that's an odd pitch. Yeah. It's great. Troma released that on DVD.

You can actually get it, and it's awesome. Oh, it's associated with trauma. They didn't make it, right? No, it's not a trauma movie. Okay, it's all right then.

It's one of those movies where they just got the rights to release it. I've got a few of those. This was made before trauma ever existed. Yeah. We did see Lloyd Kaufman wandering around.

Yeah, I did see Lloyd Kaufman yesterday. It was released in 1980. It looked pretty fancy. I don't care what you guys say about trauma movies. I enjoyed Poultry Geist.

That's all you. I heard that was great. I haven't ever watched it. I've steered clear of it. It was a musical, and it was a horror movie, and it was funny.

I was over it by the time it finally came out. I mean, I heard about it like three or four years before it actually came out. They were pushing it forever. They took forever to put that out. And by the time it finally came out, I just didn't care anymore.

I was pretty much done after Nukem High. That was the pinnacle. I don't think I got that far. I think right in, I was just like, oh. I got about 15 minutes into Tromeo and Juliet, and that pretty much sealed my fate right there.

Kabuki knows Tromeo, right? Dead Girl on my, well, Andrew's Netflix queue. On my borrowed Netflix queue. Oh, man. So I guess that's most of our Geek Week.

What are you doing over there? Are you cutting lines of cocaine or what? I'm just flattening out the wrappers from the chocolate. I don't know, some OCD thing. It actually is.

You should have seen him spazzing out yesterday. She's way better at it than me. What was I spazzing out over yesterday? I don't know. You were both being kind of weird.

I don't remember being weird. I'm no weirder than normal. No. I was totally normal yesterday. Yeah, I know.

But for people who weren't used to, I think Randy's still in shock. What did we do that was exceptionally weird? I'm used to it all. I don't know. Well, what did Randy think that we did that was weird?

I don't know. He'll have to ask him. He had to sit next to you at dinner. He chose to sit by me during lunch. Lunch.

Oh, wow. So, yeah, that was some of our fun activities. I did get to sit across from one of the, you know... Girls of your dreams? Yeah, one of the first and most influential girls of my dreams.

Which was? Catherine Mary Stewart. I had such a thing for her. Her kid is so cute. He looks just like her.

She still looks amazing. I was thrilled to sit there and talk to her. We'll work in stuff with her in the future, but, yeah, that was awesome. Did you tell her you love her? I think she alerted security.

Was the vacuum guy secretly her bodyguard? Probably, yeah. There was some weirdo with a vacuum cleaner running it during the interview. Thanks, buddy. What an ass jerk.

And there were all those weird old fat guys taking pictures of you guys constantly. I wasn't really sure what they were doing over there. I sort of ignored them. You were in your own little haze. I kind of was, actually.

Old Weird Fat Guys, that's like 80% of the people there. These were like the veterans, weren't they? Yeah, they were. They were like the veterans. Some sort of veteran group was also there celebrating something.

There's always that weirdness at hotels. Every time. Last at Fright Night Fest, it was that Civil War. Civil War guys. Yeah, it was Daughters of the Civil War.

It had a veterans, like the veterans, and then it had like. The Christian Women's Association. A sorority. Yeah. The Tri-Kappa Gammas were there, too.

Yeah, that's right. And I'm like, really? Yeah, like, the first one we went to that had an Avon convention there, too. I was just like, this is. It was Mary Kay.

I don't know. Interchangeable to me. I don't pay enough attention to it. That one that was up there that had, like, the Sisters of Christ or something like that. Oh, wow.

It was all these... All these women in button-up shirts up to their throat and skirts all the way down to their heels. Next to the long man's Satan table. Yeah, yeah. Exactly.

They're looking at all these weird kids coming in. It's better when you think they're in costume first. You're like, no way, that's just the way they were. How many veterans are like, oh, what is he from? Oh, wait, he's just in.

A veteran. Never mind. Yeah, it's always a weird mixture when they put them in these conventions. And again, it makes no sense. I'm like, if you've got that extra room for that person, why don't you just kick them out to another weekend and open up a third room?

I guess they're so full of events every weekend, they have to double book them. I don't know. They need to plan ahead on these things. I feel like it would be fun to just party crash weird conventions like that. Like the Veterans Conventions and the Southern Baptist Conventions.

That would be really fun. No, there is no fun in the Southern Baptist. That's true. Trust me. I always said with the Wright Night, when you kind of could have wandered one way or the other, if you would have gone as a Civil War zombie, you could have gone on both sides.

I can't believe you. See Gabe Lincoln with a gunshot wound on his head. That's what I was hoping for. Yeah, that's a fine line there. Just like sit in the middle.

Used to play in your house on what the other conventions. Are so that way oh you know it would have been awesome if there had been like a pro-life convention because there was that woman that had the. Baby dead baby dangling from her. That's fucking awesome yeah was. It dragging behind the cord it was she still had the umbilical cord hanging from when she sat down to.

Eat lunch she left the baby out in the aisle in the aisle so you. Could trip over it that's right That's a lawsuit waiting to happen. Yeah. I tripped over your. That was awesome.

Your dead baby. Yeah. Kept your dead baby out of the way. You dropped your afterbirth. But, I don't know.

Anything else from our little extravaganza? That's been our extended geek week. Yeah, yeah. It was pretty packed with stuff. So, that and packing shit up and everything.

So, this might be the last recording in this horrible studio here. In the house from Evil Dead. Night of the Living Dead. Take your pick. Evil Dead.

Any horror movie from the turn of the century. The exposed lath in the 1930s floral wall. Yeah, it's horrible. That Evil Dead cabin was pretty nice digs. Compared to that.

Yes, yes it was. It was pretty warmer too. I'm looking forward to getting the. Hell out of here. They had a fireplace.

Yeah, that's true. On that note, we'll wrap up today and I'll start packing shit up. We will take a break here and be back with What's the Buzz. I got a. Feeling that Easter's here.

Mmm. Mmm. I said I got a feeling that Easter's here. To top off a perfect weekend, may we suggest you see our special holiday show. It's an exceptionally entertaining program.

So try to relax and spend a few enjoyable hours with the family at this theater. Pods really get things rolling. Pods make my family fun. Open the Easter egg, color cute, and the good times. Have just begun.

Drop a colored tablet into vinegar and cold water. Then dip a hard-boiled egg for a rainbow of beautiful Easter colors. Paws really gets things rolling. We rub our egg holders too. From cotton, sanders, and lollipops.

Just to name a few. So pick up a Paws Easter egg color kit and really get things rolling. This is Bill from Outside the Cinema. If you're hearing this, then you probably like podcasts. Logical.

Flawlessly logical. Well, let me tell you. If you like horror movies, exploitation films, and underground and cult films, why not check out Outside the Cinema? You gotta tell them! Www.outsidethecinema.com You're a smart motherfucker.

Hey man, I try. Attention, shoppers. I trust you've got credit cards to pay for. All that stuff. Hi, this is Captain Mary Stewart, and you're listening to Movie Meltdown.

I've created a holiday because nobody wants to see Jesus no more. They want to save your unchopped liver. So if you want a savior, this is what I'll give you. A day when bunnies lay eggs. That I call Easter.

Twelve apostles and four gospels. No, I can pull off the impossible by not becoming a fossil. When I'm six feet deep, I pop out of the ground and hook you up with some peeps. Now this looks like a job for me, even though they crucified me. Don't you know that you can't kill me because there'd be no Easter without All right, we're back with What's the Buzz?

Tell me what's happening, what's the buzz? Tell me what's happening, what's the buzz? Tell me what's happening, what's the buzz? There was quite a bit of buzz in the last few years. Some things that were kind of big.

Some stuff that nobody's going to care about, like always. We have a Captain America. That's the big thing. The long casting war is over. There is a Captain America now.

I'm still sad it's not Chris Pine. Wait a minute, who's Captain America? Chris Evans? Chris Evans? The Human Torch is Captain America.

The Human Torch is Captain America. Yeah, you know what? I actually, of all the people they were reading, he's probably the best because I hate that Channing Tatum. Oh, yeah. I was going to have to leave this country if he was Captain America.

So, I saw Chris Evans in that movie Sunshine. Yeah. And he's really good in that. Yeah. So, I think he really is a decent actor, and he fits the part.

That's the thing. Everything else, like we were talking about when I watched Push back then, he was really good in that. Yeah. Like, everything I've seen him in that probably shouldn't have been that great a movie, he's really good in and kind of elevates it. So, it's like, I don't know.

I think he can probably do a decent job with this. Compared to everybody else that was reading it. Yeah, they did throw a lot of weird stuff out there along the way. Disney's putting it out, right? Well, Disney owns Marvel now.

I'm not sure. I don't know how directly connected they are. The one thing that was kind of weird that I don't know if I'd realize, because I didn't think I ever paid that much attention to the Avengers or the whole ongoing series, but they said he's starring in this movie as Captain America, the first Avenger. And it's prominently featured in World War II with the superhero team, the Invaders. One of the most famous characters was the Human Torch.

Which, although it was an android and not Johnny Storm, in the comics, Johnny took his name from that World War II hero. So it's like. I think you should play both parts. Yeah, I. it's weird so i guess but it doesn't matter because fox still has the rights to fantastic four invaders are. In the movie does that mean like uh prince namor or submariners and he and the invaders so i don't.

Even know who all was in the invaders. It probably won't be in captain america but i could see that being in you. Know crossover somewhere i. Mean if they want to start getting into that they're working in. So many crossovers anyway yeah yeah But yeah, because Fox still owns the rights to Fantastic Four, it's looking like they're not going to have the Human Torch in it at all, so they won't have that as an option for him to play both parts, which I don't think he would anyway.

Oh, this was interesting, too. In addition to the Captain America movie, Chris Evans' new contract includes up to eight other Marvel movies as Captain America. including the Avengers and any other Marvel movie they want to put him in, basically. Well, they're just covering their bases at this point. They don't really expect there'll be eight movies with him or anything like that. But they're doing, yeah, like the Samuel L.

Jackson thing, where they're just going to cross him over whenever they can just to make it all one big universe, really. So I think he's going to turn up in all of them. I'm sure the contract is such that he gets a raise, but he can't turn around and go, oh, this was a huge hit, so now I want $ 40 million for it. I'm not going to do the second one until, yeah. So they've got him signed for life, which I'm sure is a huge check that comes.

Along with that. I like that check. Yeah, there's a reason he signed on to do this. I'd like to have half that check. He didn't take it right away.

I mean, it was announced that it was offered. I was even shocked that news came out. Like, you usually don't announce, like, oh, he's been offered, because once that happens, the guy's agent, yeah, will crazy up the price. Yeah. But apparently he had to think about it, and I don't blame him.

Do you want to spend the rest of your, basically, almost the rest of your career playing Captain America? Yeah. Also, they had scheduling stuff with him. He was already signed on to do some movie with Anna Faris that now they're somehow reworking around this, I guess, because it was such a huge check. It's like, we'll figure something out on that one.

I don't know. We'll have to see how he looks in the suit fighting Nazis or whatever else is going to be going. On in this thing. With Hugo Weaving as the Red Skull. Which, again, isn't bad casting.

No, that'll work. Yeah. Anything you can get Hugo Weaving in at this point, you go for it. So, just after days after confirming that Disney is spinning off its Sleeping Beauty into its own little evil fairy godmother movie, Maleficent? Maleficent.

Maleficent. Maleficent. They have a contender already. It's not official, but according to the LA Times, A-lister Angelina Jolie is intrigued by the idea of playing the villainous and the title character. I think she would be awesome.

I could see that. Yeah, she kind of fits that role. Which I didn't mention during Geek Week, but I actually saw Alice in Wonderland this week, so I want to talk about that a little bit. Because, well, I thought I was going to see The Runaways because I saw that it opened and I just assumed... That it opened wide.

I mean, Kristen Stewart's in it and everything. You would think. So we made plans to go see it Monday, only to find out it really only opened in like 200 theaters and Louisville wasn't one of them. Nice. So we ended up seeing House of Wonderland instead, which is a Tim Burton project as well.

And I really didn't dig it that much. Yeah. I mean, most of what I've seen of it. It looks really good, but you don't really care about the characters and the story kind of is. Whatever maybe more for kids i don't know my kid loved it she thought it was awesome but it may have just been more or less the visuals.

Yeah the visuals are great um johnny depp as the manhatters decided schizophrenia was the way to go so he's got like three different voices and he switches up on mid-sentence and he's basically one of his voices is kind of just johnny depp then one is boris karloff and then one is shrek basically and he just switches back and forth and it's It's the first time in any Tim Burton movie where I kind of felt like he didn't come across as endearing, but just a freak. I mean, I'm like, I don't want to hang out with him. No, that was Willy Wonka. I don't like him in that one. Oh, yeah, I hated him.

I did not like him in Willy Wonka. I think Johnny Depp's getting a little nuttier and nuttier as he gets older. I blame France. I think you can only search for so much nuttiness before it just becomes nutty. Well, and it doesn't even make sense anymore.

It's not weird. It's just random shit at that point. I really feel Tim Burton really should just branch away. Yeah. Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp, I know they're like your posse, but they don't need to be in every single one of your movies.

It's just kind of like, watch Willy Wonka, watch Alice in Wonderland. What's the difference? There's some other weird things in Alice in Wonderland. For one, Anne Hathaway is in it as the good witch or whatever. Yeah, the white queen.

And god damn, if he didn't make her up to look exactly like Lisa Marie. Which is really weird. And that's really weird and fetishistic because she's really attractive. And he took the makeup and went, make her look exactly like my ex-girlfriend. That's creepy.

And that is creepy. And that makes me wonder if she's going to be in more of his movies. Probably. Or he's trading up. Or he's dumping her.

He's being slapped. That's the one thing I can't stand, even about the trailer. I don't like Helena Bonham Carter's giant head. And I don't really like her in the movie either. But in general.

I still refer to her as homewrecker. Is she a homewrecker? Oh, two times now. Really? She's a homewrecker.

Who else is homewrecked? Kenneth Branagh. He was with Emma Thompson at one time until they started making movies together and then he dumped her and was with Helena Bonham Carter. Did the same thing with Tim Burton. She's a homewrecker.

Maybe her chuch is just like candy. I don't know. I think she. And Tim Burton are a good match, though. And Burton is one of those guys, he's going to put whoever his girlfriend is, he's like Rob Zombie.

They're going to be there. Lisa Marie at least fit his weird thing. She was pretty, but weird looking, and she fit everything he shoved her into. That's why I was looking at Anne Hathaway, because he was so fetishized her to look exactly like Lisa Marie. I'm like, I bet he's looking at her like, this is my next girlfriend.

That's what I'm thinking. Maybe it's time to trade up. The way you need to look when you're my girlfriend. It's time to trade up. Exactly.

Anne Hathaway can be the new homewrecker. Mm-hmm. That just makes Tim Burton a slut. Anyway, we were talking about Maleficent. So, yeah, we got sidetracked.

Well, that's supposed to be a Tim Burton. It's sort of the same. Oh, speaking of Tim Burton and previously Dark Shadows, I've heard that Tim Burton is making Dark Shadows with Johnny Depp, of course. With Johnny Depp as. as, yeah. Jesus Christ.

He's got a lot of projects on there, but supposedly Johnny Depp loves Dark Shadows, and he wanted to be Barnabas Collins when he was a kid. Yeah. So that is a project that's on, because every Tim Burton movie has to have Johnny Depp. Of course. Yeah.

And, I mean, again, I could see Johnny Depp actually doing a decent job with that because he's so interested in it. I don't hate that one. Again, shoving Tim Burton into it adds a whole new level of trouble, really. That project interests me a little bit more than some of the other ones he's got lined up because so many of the projects he's got lined up are stories that have already been done a hundred times, and he's just going to lay his creepy weirdo style on top of it. And I loved Tim Burton for about 20 years.

I mean, I loved all of his movies, but his recent ones have not interested me that much. He's not. He's not stretching enough, I guess. Maybe I want to see him go out of his comfort zone a little bit or something like that. I like Sweeney Todd, but that's the only one in between.

It's about the only thing anybody seemed to have liked lately. It was still hit and miss, but a lot of people I saw, that's like the exception to anything he's done in the last 10, 15 years. It's like, no, that was all right. I'm not a huge musical fan, and it's not extremely rewatchable, but it looked good. Yeah.

It was, I don't know, the closest thing he's come to something that wasn't a train wreck in the last several movies. Yeah. So, yeah, I don't know. I guess he's still set on to direct this. I don't know.

It could be okay. I mean, I was thinking it kind of reminds me of the 101 Dalmatians movies. they did find a way to take that crazy animated villainous and make it live action. Like, you wouldn't think they'd be able to do that. They make the villains so extreme in Disney movies that you don't think they could make it live action. But Glenn Close did an amazing job on that.

I guess the only thing I don't like from page one is when you're making a movie called Maleficent, obviously you have to sympathize with that character. And it's another, we keep doing this, we water down our villains to the point where Oh, they're just misunderstood. They're actually pretty good people. Yeah, what happened? They're just pure evil.

Yeah, for real. They don't have any villains, you know? That's the other thing. I was thinking it's kind of reminding me of them trying to do the 101 Dalmatians, but it's also very much ties to Wicked. To me, it's very much taking that, let's take the bad guy and see what their backstory was, and then it does, it makes it very, you know, oh, they weren't so bad, really.

Well, I mean, as much as that sucks when you think about how movies initially were and how clear-cut the villain was and the hero was. That's really the way it is in real life. I mean, most people aren't born bad, so it's kind of a more realistic way to look at it, I think. But, you know, it's not as fun for sure. Yeah, Hiller was a painter.

Yeah. He was a nice guy in the beginning, and then something set him off. He might have even had a cat one point. Yeah. Which made him evil.

Cats are evil. That's it. Stole his brain. Your cat is a jerk. Okay, yeah.

Cat's a jerk. I remember when we had to lock him in a cage at night to keep him from fighting with the other cats. But he's really sweet now. He slept all night in the crook of my arm, and I woke up, and he was still there. Jerk.

Once I've made my mind up. All right, so. The new Buck Rogers movie. Oh, God. What?

Jesus Christ. What? What? Which is being produced by the same company that is rebooting Conan. We'll not only be taking moviegoers to the 25th century, but also in 3D, Misty.

Midi, midi, midi. I like 3D. I know, I'm telling you. In 3D. We need to.

Make a Duck Rogers movie. That would be awesome. Duck Dodgers. We didn't say who the director was. Yeah, we can go ahead and jump to that if you want.

The director has been hired on and it is Paul W.S. Anderson. That sucks, Buck. Isn't that Mr. Mila right there?

Oh, yeah. He does like some Mila. But also making pretty cheesy movies. Video game movies of every sort. His movies are alright.

They're good times. Yeah, it's one of those... He's not as bad as many other directors out there, but he's not. He doesn't have a creative idea. No, not at all.

He's very run-of-the-mill. Everything he has in his movies is stolen from other stuff. It's just... And it's exactly what you expect out of it. It's like you were watching it going, well, in a minute there's going to be an explosion at least, and damned if it doesn't come through for you.

So, I mean, it delivers for those kind of audiences. But, yeah, he's not really creative. You don't have to be creative these days. Certainly not in Hollywood. So, yeah, I don't know.

I guess we had at least a few creative people. Yeah, good luck with that. I guess we do have a few, but. They just keep ripping off shit. He's not one of them.

No, he's not one. He'll probably try to make Buck Rogers his avatar or something. Oh, Lord. Well, he's already working on a 3D version of The Three Musketeers, which I think we talked about a while back. So that's no.

I don't know. I don't know what to think. Of any of that. Yeah, really. Who gives a shit?

Unless they give me free candy bars. Somebody does make a Three Musketeers movie about every five years. At least ten. The last one came and. Went when nobody even noticed.

What was it called? Was it The Musketeer? The one that was all super kung fu-like. It was like flipping and kicking. Yeah, that was The Musketeer.

It's like Musketeers took Wushu. Yeah. What the hell? Give me the Corsican Brothers. Cheech and Chong.

Okay. That's awesome. I think you're the only one requesting that one. Oh, come on. It's good times.

It's no up in smoke, I can tell you. No, this is true. I didn't love up in smoke. You know, sometimes I still get that song stuck in my head. Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na.

All the time. I don't know why I haven't seen the movie since I was in seventh grade. You have to lose. Mexican America. That one, too.

Oh, Lord. Somehow I got it from Buck Rogers to. to Cheech and Chong this is this is kind of how our buzz goes good segue we'll leave it at that keep moving on I like Cheech. And Chong I mean next movie is one of my favorite you know yeah he's good he's really good what's the next movie. The next movie. Cheech and Chong's next movie.

Oh, okay. Oh. Oh, Lord. So, yeah, we'll go from Cheech and Chong's to this Murph's. I don't know.

What? The release is already coming next summer, which I dread. Is this live action? It creeps me the fuck out. It creeps me to leave CG.

No, it's going to be horrible CG. So, that's already looming on the horizon. Well, I mean, what are they going to make it? Like, kind of in the line, like, Toy Story or. They wish it was going to be.

I can only imagine it's going to be horrible. Just as long as they bring back Smurfberry cereal because that was good. Oh, yeah, Smurfberry is good. I've avoided most of what I know of it. But today they said Sony Pictures has, while on that little kick there, has announced plans for another 3D CGI animated movie.

Jesus. Of Popeye. Oh, come on. Nobody can play Popeye like Robin Williams. That's what I'm saying.

Nobody can be Popeye. It's weird enough that there was a live action movie, let alone, do any kids now care about an animated Popeye movie? No. And you're not really going to be able to sell it to adults. Well, he's been so nerfed nowadays, he can't be as violent as he was.

We keep talking about how young kids today don't give a shit about any of the stuff that we like. No. They keep trying to. And we didn't even care that much about Popeye. I mean, if we're going to.

It's from 1929. It's such a dated concept. That first volume DVD of the Popeye cartoons. I'm not even. Even people that I kind of liked it, I watched it as a kid, but it's not like anybody's like, man, my favorite cartoon was Popeye.

Nobody says that. It's always like, oh, yeah, I remember Popeye. I was Captain Caveman. I love Captain Caveman. The teen angels were hot.

I actually like the Smurfs. I still have all my Smurf. Toys from back in the day. I saw more than I needed to. I'm creepy.

I mean, I like Smurfs. I had the Smurfs Atari 2600 game. I mean, I'm not excited about the idea of a CGI Smurf movie. No, it's going to be horrible. It's one of those things you.

Like as a kid and you aren't nostalgic for as an adult. I still hold the Smurfs against the King's Island thing because there was this great boat ride called the Enchanted Voyage when I was a kid that had all these weird cartoon characters in it. And they ruined it. And the fucking Smurfs came in and took it over and it became the Smurfs boat ride. Mm-hmm.

So I'll never forgive them for that. Bastards. These napalm Smurfs. Yes. I like hefty Smurfs.

On a recent episode of South Park, they made fun of, they had this Smurf thing. And they're like, the movie already came out. And it was Avatar. So it's just like. How many CGI movies with blue people do you need?

God. I'm sure it had nothing to do with Smurfs getting greenlit. I'm sure. Well, this one, I mean, as if it's not weird enough that they're making a version of a Popeye movie. But listen to the approach that the producer used to describe it.

He says, The new version will cover the themes of friendship, love, greed, and life, and focus on human strengths and human frailties. Are these claims a bit lofty for a Popeye movie? Yeah, exactly. What the hell? He just beat the shit out of Bluto.

Yeah, I know. Bluto would kick his ass. Wimpy would borrow money for a hamburger. Marlboro's a fucking two-timing bitch. Yeah.

I mean, what else is there? You got, uh, what was the kid's name? Uh. Sweet Pea. Sweet Pea.

Yeah, Sweet Pea. Who did that child belong to? I don't know. I want to think it's like olive oils or something because she was always around it. It seems like to me that Sweet Pea might have been an orphan.

In the movie. I don't know how close that was to that. But yeah, he was dropped off on like the doorstep kind of classic tale. You know, there's got to be a better Popeye expert out there than us. Oh, I'm sure.

I'm sure in the comic strip it was a whole different weird thing. Oh, yeah. Who's going to be the goon? Remember the goon? Alice the goon?

Yeah. Alice the goon was creepy. There's a whole island of goons. Yeah, there's a whole island. Goon Island.

They're creepy. I love Pop Pop. They were creepy, even as a kid. You're the only one. What?

I like Peppy. See, that's the thing. That's the thing. Okay, I worked with two guys. One guy's nickname was Popeye.

Dude looked dead up like fucking Popeye. That's not a good guy. No, he had huge forearms. Yeah, he specifically worked out on his forearms just so he could look more like Popeye. And then the guy that I used to work with, or the guy that... worked at the place I work at now, Pappy.

They call him Pappy. He looked like Popeye's Pappy. Poop deck Pappy. Poop deck Pappy. Looked exactly like him.

Weird. I love Popeye. Yeah. I have nothing against it. But I don't want to see a reboot.

I just don't see it working as a new movie. I love the love-hate relationship people have with that Robert Aldrin. I love her watching that. I want to go. I like that.

Oh, yeah. I don't know if I love it or not because, well, obviously it looks great and everything, but I saw it as a kid and it bored the dog shit out of me. I mean, I went to see Popeye Fighting Bluto, and I got this musical. I was just a kid. It was a little weird.

I'm just in awe that it got made. I kind of want to go back and watch it and just figure out what the hell is going on there. I haven't watched it since I was a kid because it upset me so badly how bored I was. I wanted to fall asleep. I need to go back and look.

Excuse me. Ahem. See, God is punishing me for not liking it. That's right. I need to go back and watch it again.

I saw it not too long ago, and I didn't think it was that bad. Well, I know some guys that are really hip and have really good taste, and they love that movie, so there's got to be something to it. It's love and hate, yeah. Yeah. Shelly Wears play Olive Oil.

Yeah. Yeah. She's perfect. Shelly Duvall. No, yeah, Shelly Duvall.

I can't imagine, yeah. Shelly Duvall is just the opposite of Olive Oil. Yeah. Yeah, a little too accurate. That was scary.

All the characters actually fit the actual cartoon characters, which I thought was awesome. Who played Bluto? Wow, I don't remember. I don't know that I remember him from my childhood. If they were to do a live action one again, John Goodman would have made the perfect Bluto.

He's getting pretty old now. Yeah, that's the thing. I don't know. He has to grow a beard. Now it'll be The Rock.

The Rock. It'll be The Rock. He's not fat enough. Yeah, but they don't care. As long as it brings in, you know, they'll get Disney to back it or something.

He is on the Disney payroll now. I know. The Tooth Fairy? Yeah. I don't know where Bluto's not such a bad guy.

Yeah. Well, that'll be the offshoot movie. Bluto. Oh, wait. Wasn't Bluto Rabban from Dune?

Was it? I don't even remember. I'm pretty sure it was the same guy. Maybe it was that guy. He's got a weird name, I think.

He was a weird dude. Yeah. All right. And this story just had so many weird ideas crossing over, I had to discuss it. I mean.

Tom Hanks, musicals, and Green Day? No. What the hell? What was it? Yeah.

Tom Hanks Playtone Production Company is currently in talks to start development on a movie version of the upcoming Broadway musical American Idiot. Nice. The music inspired by the 2004 album of the same title by Green Day. Using Green Day songs to tell the coming-of-age story of three small-town guys who once signed up for the military, one has a drug habit, and one gets his girlfriend pregnant. I want to die.

Why? I want to kill myself. Who cares? The Broadway musical features very little dialogue in between the songs, with the music telling most of the story. Oh, wow.

Let me see that Spider-Man musical with music about you, too, or something. That's the edge. Let me see Spider-Ham. When's that coming? No, it's real.

I mean, you know, that is real. No, it's Spider-Ham. It's Spider-Ham. Well, they did a spinoff. It's a spinoff.

It's a spinoff. Spider-Man, but it was Spider-Ham. And it's not Spider-Pig. So what is Tom Hanks involved in? Is he producing this?

He's producing, yeah. He's getting behind it as far as producer. I don't think he's working on another movie he's going to direct, so I don't think he's going to be that hands-on. But yeah, his company is involved in piecing this together. I had a lot of respect for Tom Hanks.

Well, he's been producing stuff. His company is the one that did Mamma Mia and it made a fortune. That makes perfect sense. He knows what he's doing, obviously. I'm not like a Broadway guy.

That project doesn't sound bad to me. I can see it being a success. I can see it working on Broadway and it's a weird crossover. Some stuff works from Broadway to the movies and some doesn't and I don't know what it is. You can't pinpoint.

There's all these ones they keep trying to do now ever since Chicago came along. It's like, oh, Well, we need to make everything on the big screen. And like half of them just die. Look at like nine. Nobody cared about nine.

I actually want to see that. That's good. You play songs that people already know and like and can sing along to. And that might actually work, I think. That's a different crowd, though.

You know, the ABBA crowd is the kind of people that go to see Broadway plays. The Green Day crowd, I don't think so. You're right about that, but I don't know. I don't know. That was just such a weird mixture of stuff.

And now getting made into a movie is even more... Like, they can get away with a lot of stuff on Broadway, but the big screen playing to the rest of the country, I don't know. Sounds like Mega Level's a poop and stupidity thing. Who do they think they're catering to? It's just like, you've got a property, you want to make a movie...

But, yeah, are you pitching it to the younger fans? Are you pitching it to the older fans? Are you pitching it to the younger fans that have grown up with Green Day and now we're older, but still, I don't know if we want to. Do the whole musical about it. I'm pitching it to people that have, one, joined the Army, two, got their girlfriend.

Pregnant, three. Well, that's most of the country right there, so it's going to be a hit. They're like, okay. If you're one of these three. I don't know if anybody qualifies as anything else.

This story is going to relate to you. I'm not going to relate to it. I didn't grow up with Green Day. I didn't either. Green Day's my generation, so, I mean, they're the same age as.

Me, basically. Yeah, but I never considered them. I mean, everybody's always like, Green Day's Godfathers of Punk. Never considered them punk. Godfathers of Punk?

Even they would tell you they're not the Godfathers of Punk. Well, now, I've heard that label thrown around on them a bunch of times, and I've never considered them punk at all. Maybe it was, like, Blender magazine. No, no. And that's why I don't consider them my generation.

They were really big, what, early 90s? Yeah. I didn't listen to them in the early 90s. You know, the only thing, like a lot of people that I know, the only good thing Green Day's ever done has got people initially interested in punk. And if you're like a douchebag, you're going to go from Green Day to like Good Charlotte.

But if you're. An okay person, you might go from. Green Day to like. Real punk? I don't know.

I mean, if you started when you were like a child. Dead Kennedys? Yeah. I don't know. I have run into this a lot, and even lately, which somebody brought this up online lately and was bitching about Green Day bringing down punk, and I was like, did you post this in 94?

How is this a relevant conversation? Yeah, really. She's like, this is been going on for. It has and it listed they became this huge online argument about people like well they're not really fine i'm like who cares i'm like who said that they're punk yeah punk and they sold out i'm like they they didn't sell out because they made money right off the bat i was like their first album was hugely successful so i was like punk or not who cares people liked them they paid money for them Just don't saddle them with that title. They played live.

Little bitty shows on the punk rock scene before the album came out and became really big. But who cares? I don't know. It's just so infuriating that it's such a knee-jerk reaction for anybody who likes punk to just bitch about Green Day. I'm like, if you don't like them, that's fine.

Yeah, you don't have to listen to them. But I mean, you can't just bitch about them because they're popular. It's like, obviously somebody out there likes them. They've made millions of dollars off this shit. Punk rock is such a weird thing.

It's like, You're not allowed to be successful. If you're successful, you aren't punk rock. And then you can't be angry about anything once you've made some money. That's music and all. Which is why the whole punk rock thing is so short-lived.

Which is why a lot of people think the Sex Pistols record may be the best punk rock record ever. Because it came out, it was big, and that was it. And it died. They died, you know. So....

Yeah. I mean, when most of the music's dealing against big corporations and stuff like that, and then you've got a lot of these bands that sign up with big corporations, then most of the fans that were true in the beginning just kind of drop them. They're like, fuck you. Fuck all you guys. I think that's why the Ramones were able to have as long a career as they had, because they never really...

I mean, they never really hit big. No. They stayed on the same level pretty much their entire career. Every record would come out, and they'd be, oh, this is going to be the big one. This is the one that's going to bring them into the mainstream, and it didn't happen.

It never happened. No, it never really did. And I think that's why they had a 20-year career, because they never got big. They were there. They had a few songs that were injected here and there into popular culture, but they just never.

But not really into the mainstream. They never bought into the big mainstream. Except for now, where you can buy their t-shirts at Walmart. Well, yeah, that's because now after Joey Ramone died and they all died, then everybody's like. Johnny's dead.

Everybody's all of a sudden, oh my God, the Ramones were such an awesome band. There's only one left. You waited forever, and now all of a sudden they're an awesome band. I was always a fan of them. Yeah.

Well, that's what I'm saying. Like, nowadays, everybody's like, oh, my God, oh, my God. I'm always annoyed with the whole, like, the rock and roll Hall of Fame thing. Yeah. They don't induct you until somebody dies.

Yeah. I mean, like, the Stooges this time because, like, Ron Ashton died. I mean, the Ramones got the same thing. It wasn't until after Joey died that they got in. I mean, it's like.

They don't appreciate it until it's too late. Then they realize that the music's good. Oh, man, those studios are pretty damn good. I've never listened to that before. Mark Mountward's Kiss will be nominated as soon as Ace Frehley kicks.

He looks like he's already dead. Actually, he died years ago. Are all the members of KISS still alive? Well, all of Gene have great insurance. Copious amounts of drugs and sex.

Oh, Peter feels like he's dead if it makes you feel any better. You have an. Ace Frehley guitar pick somewhere. Nice. Remember the days of kids that would dress up in the KISS makeup?

I know you did. Yeah. That was last week. No, no, I'm talking about older kids that were kids in the neighborhood. This last year.

Yeah. Did. I'm not talking during Halloween. I'm talking about during regular days. I couldn't do it anymore.

You can't put on Paul Stanley makeup with glasses. It just doesn't work. I see people do it, and I just don't want to be that guy. Like, no, just please stop. No, no.

It's not a good idea. Oh, Lord. So I think that will wrap up the first half here of our punk rock extravaganza. Yeah. And you never mow another man's lawn.

That's true. If I've learned anything from Billy Joe, it's that you never mow another man's lawn. Once in, I think it was 1998, going on 1999. He said fuck on MTV. If that's not punk, then I don't want to live anymore.

So that means Slash is punk? He said fuck on like national. He wasn't even MTV. That was on like American Music Awards. Nice.

Oh, Lord. I actually watched SLC Punk the other day. I don't know why. It just showed up on Andrew's Netflix. For some reason.

It's brilliant. Yeah, it's a problem. It is fantastic. Yeah, I don't like Matthew Lillard's weird tooth-to-gum ratio. He's got a Miley Cyrus problem.

Yeah, he does. He's got a Miley Cyrus mouth. He's got Til Schweiger. He's gorgeous, so. Who?

Til Schweiger. It has James Duvall, who I love, who is a sweet guy. But, yeah, it wasn't... I expected it to be, like, way... more far off than it was like they actually pretty. Close yeah they did a good job on it.

Like i thought it would just be like yeah. Now a lot of the funny thing is a lot of that a lot of that movie i can look at parallels in my life i mean there were guys that like like the till schwager character uh we had a guy we used to hang out with. Everything except the becoming a lawyer. Part yeah well yeah yeah i didn't become a lawyer i don't know what you're talking about that's what that was all punk kid yeah. That my best friend dying he didn't die so But, yeah, a lot of that I can relate to.

Rednecks and having to put up with all that shit and growing up in the middle of nowhere. No, we weren't in Utah, but still. Well, see, that's why we have to watch Over the Edge. That's basically my life story, and I know you guys are going to love it. We've got to watch that movie.

I'm telling you. It looks entertaining. I think my favorite part about the movie was the Mormons, though. Why does that not surprise me? They're fascinating.

They wear special underwear. That's all it takes for you. I think so. They, they have a stock of food in their basement for when the apocalypse comes. How is that not cool?

And paranoid. I totally want a stock of basement. I'm telling you, the Amish are going to be the only people that survive the apocalypse. They can live without electricity and cell phones and all that shit. And they know how to work hard and, and, and keep things going.

They're, they're going to be the only ones left. Well, it's the same with Mormons, but they've actually used technology like to their advantage. Um, I actually dated someone who grew up Mormon once, so his family was Mormon. I learned a little bit about it. Is that how you found out about the underwear?

Yeah, that's kind of fair. We'd go to his mom's house, and she'd give us apples and corn, and we'd eat the chickens and hang out. Once she bent over, I could see her underwear, her special underwear peek out of her shirt. He explained it to me once. Interesting.

Yeah. But anyway, they actually have a catalog of everyone who's ever been part of the Mormon church. And if a disaster strikes, like an earthquake or like a flood or something, they'll go and find people who used to belong to their church. Everybody else is screwed pretty much. Huh?

Everyone else is scared. That's pretty much how the rapture works. If you lost your. House or if you lost your family or your legs, they'll pay for your medical expenses. They give you their legs?

They'll give you their legs. Magic legs. Robot legs. They'll build prosthetic legs for you. They do keep very good records.

They do, yeah. They keep records on everybody. So that's how we got a lot of our family records was going to the Mormon church and dad went through their record archives. They keep records on people that aren't even Mormon. So not movie related.

On that note, Green Day! Never rub another man's lawn! Never rub another man's rhubarb. We will wrap up this up. We will wrap up part one here.

Jack Nicholson in Batman. Never rub another man's rhubarb. How sad is now I remember that. We will wrap up part one here and invite you to come back and join us for this week's Easter extravaganza. If you really want to.
