About this episode
Movie Meltdown - Episode 230 After requests from listeners who have been missing a certain original cast member, this episode we welcome back our "convention correspondent" Misty. And as usual - she brings the darkness. And the bad words. But when has that ever phased us? So we hang out with Misty and discuss the goings on of "WonderFest" as well as her recent viewing of "Star Trek into Darkness". And as we discuss unicorn criteria, we also mention... the robot from Lost in Space, tiny Ron Jeremy, werewolf transformation, Benedict Cumberbatch's boney knees, Tom Wopat, Angelina Jolie, in 3D, Famke Janssen, Marlena's cat, Bigfoots, Cotton Weary, British comedy vs. British drama, fake Feldman doing duck calls, a life-size Dewback, Karl Urban, Blu-ray player, John Schneider, the moment I rediscovered the ham... it was one of the greatest moments of my life, Zachary Quinto's face, Hemlock Grove, crazy June is full of cancer and may get shot in the head by a doctor, camouflage pants with a Pegasus shirt, impractical, the martinis went wrong!, being typecast as a wolf boy, The Last Enemy, lens flares and a combination of Jimmy Stewart and Ozzy Osbourne. Spoiler Alert: A very minor spoiler for "Star Trek into Darkness" and a traumatic flashback to "The Last Unicorn" that may be a spoiler... if we are remembering it right? "If I can string together more then one f***ing sentence without a profanity, you're lucky."

This episode is rated M for Misty. Yes, that's right, this is a Misty episode, so it will be laced with profanity even more than usual. If you're not comfortable with this level of profanity, perhaps this isn't the episode for you. But we have many other episodes to choose from that do not feature Misty and will probably be far less offensive. Okay, maybe.
With that having been said, on with the show. I'm Dee Snyder from Twisted Sister, writer, star of Strangeland, radio, TV, you know me. And you're listening to Movie Meltdown. Yeah. This is our life.
This is our song. It's showtime. Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power. More cooling in the containment chamber. To your stations.
We have a movie meltdown. Robot is online. Reviewing primary directives. What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian.
And I am Misty. And we are coming to you live via digital recording from Wonderfest here in Louisville. Hell yeah we are. And I specifically... This just the other day, I had a listener telling me how much they missed the Misty episodes.
Some fucking awesome. And I was like, hang in there, dude. I'm hooking you up. You just wait. So, I bring to you once again, Misty.
That's me. I'm kind of distracted because there are a lot of flashy lights directly across from me and a lot of shiny things. We are sitting across from the robot from Lost in Space. Hells yeah. Yeah.
Oh, man. And the fabulous airbrush backdrop that it has. It is pretty fabulous. I'm sure we'll be taking pictures of ourselves. Hell, yeah, we will.
Plus that dewback. I'm still pretty excited about that giant dewback. I haven't made it down there yet. Oh, man. It's like a life-size dewback.
It's pretty awesome. Even though it is sort of the spindly CGI legs, where I like the more sturdy, heavy-duty legs from the original. Functional ones. That's just me. Whatever.
Spindly, yeah. It's like they're going to break. It's pretty awesome that there is a giant dewback sitting in the same room as us right now. So, you know. Once again, the wonders of Wonderfest.
I see what you did there. It wasn't really that clever. I know. So now we've got you back. Misty, what's your geek activities for?
It's been a while. Go to town. Should I start the most recent and work my way backwards? You know you're all fired up for that one, so go ahead. Dude, I went and saw Star Trek last night, and I don't care what anybody fucking says.
The movie was awesome. It was rowdy, and there was explosions and running, and it was awesome. So, Fuck if you didn't like it. I've heard some not-so-good things going in, but, you know, it's a hard sell anyway trying to do that with Star Trek. It depends on what you're going to expect.
If you're wanting, like, plot and, like, a big old fancy storyline and a lot of words, then why are you going to see a Star Trek movie? Well, especially new Star Trek. The new Star Trek versus old Star Trek. Star Trek used to be very wordy and very, like, theme oriented and it went into like social issues of the time it really was a very thinking person's kind of sci-fi but the reboot is not that at all the reboot is like run and gun sci-fi so i. Thought it was fun like so there is there is a plot and i'm sure there are plenty of holes in it if you want to sit and pick it apart but if you just go into it like hey this is fun then it's fucking fun dude it is it's fun and goddamn benedict cumberbatch batch with a b because i keep wanting to say p i don't know why.
I probably say it wrong and i just. Didn't even realize it's still closer than what boyfriend gets boyfriend keeps wanting to call him benjamin cumberbatch which is like more wronger than me i wonder. How much he gets wrong names we need to get him on and just ask him what his list of wrong names. Is who boyfriends or benedict i would totally be okay with that only if i could sit in his lap though although he does look kind of bony so it might be uncomfortable I bet he has really bony knees. I bet his left is really uncomfortable, but I think I'd take one for the team and I'd sit there.
That's crazy British dudes. You never know. Which drives me nuts because usually I hate British people. No offense, British listeners. No, I just mean it usually drives me nuts when they talk, but I could listen to him go on and on forever.
You were probably exposed to early old school BBC stuff, which I was not a big fan of a lot of it either, so I think you're rediscovering the new version of BBC. No, I still hate British comedy. I'm not leaning or giving on that at all. I hate British comedy. It's pretty slapstick-y.
I hate that. But Sherlock is fucking amazing. Misfits is fucking amazing. Any other stuff I've probably talked about before. The Fades.
Fades is awesome. I just watched The Last Enemy. I'm pretty sure it's the name of it, which also has been a dead cover batch, and I love him. But, yes, back to Star Trek. It was awesome.
And there were a lot of explosions, and I'm okay with that. I mean, I'm not going to give away the plot because you haven't seen it yet, but I mean, I don't think I'm spoiling anything. I mean, they've built it up as to who the main character, who Benedict Cumberbatch's character is. I didn't know for a long time. I actually did see somebody use the name in the last day or so, and I was like, oh, okay.
They made good on that. They did because they gave him a different name. They've given him this other name through the entire movie. Hi, everybody. It's Beau.
Ronning. Bo is running back and forth, and he has a lot of work to do here. So we flagged him down for a second. We'll see if we can get him somewhere the rest of this weekend. But he has a lot of work to do.
He actually, like, helps run this joint. So, you know. Fuck that miss. Misty likes to not work. Yeah, I'm a slacker.
But I love the movie. I love Chris Pine. Zachary Quinto was more tolerable in this one. for the most part overall is he. More tolerable or are you just getting used to. It I think he's more tolerable although he could have lost some weight because his face looked fat in this movie like plump like plump well.
You know he's eating that Vulcan food it's high. In calories I don't know dude I guess but I mean he seemed a little bit less I'm probably gonna offend people a little bit less femmy than he was in the first one I don't care but there was points where he was kind of whiny and just judgmental I'm like dude shut the fuck up. Was he like angry the whole time That was my problem with the last time. He always seemed kind of pissed, and I was just like, that's not Spock at all. He seemed kind of judgy, and I didn't like that.
Spock was always so calm about it. Even when he was putting up with Kirk's shenanigans on the series, he was always like... He had more of a, what an idiot kind of thing. But he wasn't angry. Quinto just seemed angry the whole first movie.
Is it Quinto or Quinto? I've probably been saying it wrong. I don't know. That one guy. The guy from Heroes.
How about that? Yeah, that works for me. But he was more tolerable in this one, except for a couple scenes where he gets very... uppity about morals and shit but uh. That seems kind of vulcan like yeah i can. See that even though he's he's defying direct orders.
He does that every like episode every movie but yeah. I mean there's a big old whole thing and if you try to make too much sense out of it yeah i'm sure you're gonna be annoyed you're gonna be aggravated but if you just like enjoy it for what it is which is a new star trek movie then maybe you'll like it because like i said i loved it and i'm more picky than most people We'll. Be seeing it, or some of us will be seeing it later this weekend. And I'm still waiting to see if we're going to have time to sit down and talk about it fully. So maybe we'll just touch on it later, if I stay awake during it.
Because they're also showing it at like the middle of the night or something, last I heard. It's like a 12.30 start time. Are you seeing it? That guy's shirt is amazing. That guy's shirt is amazing beyond words.
I want that shirt. I would wear that shirt everywhere I went. But not the one specifically he's wearing because I'm wearing a shirt that's going to be smelly. I think it would be. Okay, now he's out of earshot.
Go ahead and describe that shirt, Misty. It is a glorious wonder of a shirt here at Wonderfest. I see what you did there. It's pretty fancy, I know. I like the combination of the outfit, though.
I like the camouflage pants that go with the Pegasus shirt. It ties the outfit together. It's not just a regular Pegasus. It's like a... special fading color kind of like purple and red fading. We should just take a picture while he was taking a picture of the.
Robot I think we need to actually if he comes back you're pretty sneaky you can take stalker photos I'm. Like mesmerized by that shirt it was glorious. It's pretty epic I have to say. And the way it rounds around his belly his beer belly it gives it like another dimension it's like the pegasus is flying directly at you back to 3D we did see Star Trek in 3D Because I'm like, if you're going to see this shit, you might as well see it in 3D, you know. Because shit flying at you, fuck yeah.
Of course. What's up? We're yammering on as we do. Star Trek. Have you seen Star Trek?
The new one? No, we haven't. Here's what happens at the end. Hopefully I'll have. A little bit of downtime here.
Have you seen Star Trek? Uh, no. I've worked it the other night. Oh, okay. Well.
That doesn't count at all. You two are talking. I don't want to. get involved. We've been distracted many a time. I'm trying to not, because he hasn't seen it yet either.
Oh, you just recorded it? No. Oh. Yes, tonight we'll edit it. You know how this goes.
Nothing but nonsense. Editing magic, ladies and gentlemen. Leave that part to him. I could just get Paul Brokaw back and just sit him at your table with you. I don't know.
You don't know, Paul. I don't think you can handle Paul. Probably not. You can handle Paul if he's sober. Probably, but Paul's a fascinating character and we're very glad to have him on the show, but Misty might strangle him.
Yeah. You get him sober and he controls himself, but usually it's like that constant loggeria. Well, of course, I guess we're all guilty of that. That's what the show is built around. Just constant talking.
The best quote ever is just, Well, are we supposed to be talking about movies or something? It's right up with, what was I, the genius with baloney? Yeah. The man is a genius when it comes to meat. Baloney.
It was that and also the... I was watching a lot of fun. Michelle Obama climbed up. Obama, get out of the boat. Get out of the boat.
Get on my movie. The Obama rant is classic. And then it was like Obama showed up and I was watching Lincoln and he dresses Frederick Douglass. He's like, let my people go. And Lincoln's like, all right, I got nothing going on tonight.
Sure. The Frederick Douglass. I was listening to it again lately and the Frederick Douglass part killed me. It comes out of nowhere. I'm like...
Where? What? Paul's like that all the time. He'll just have these moments of sheer zany genius. And it just cracks me up.
There was one time to where I was driving up to Cincinnati with him, and I almost went off the road laughing because he was talking about how he. Was he going to just. Sit and talk to the microphone at the same time? I don't know. They already heard half that story.
Am I just telling the Paul story? I suppose. I guess the flashback for the viewers who listened to Paul on. The Oscar meltdown episode. I want to go see Academy Awards.
But no, Paul, he had that Obama rant. And those are like the moments of genius that sort of define Paul. Because I was explaining to Brian here, there was one time I almost ran off the road driving up to Cincinnati with him because Paul was talking about how he tried to perfect his martini recipe. And so he said he was at home alone. His wife was out with the girls.
And so he makes one and then two and then three. And by his own... admission he's like oh by the end it was just straight up gin i was just drinking like a glass of gin that's really what a martini is but you know you would put some other stuff in there to pretend but i was just drinking gin well i'm diabetic and my blood sugar crashed so i got i got really hammered really quick and and you know that then sharon comes home and i'm wallowing on the floor i was like sharon sharon and she's like my god paul what happened to you oh god sharon i don't know something went wrong The martinis went wrong, Sharon. And she's like, well, here, I'll just get you some water. Do you need some food? And I was like, yes, macaroni and cheese.
Make macaroni and cheese. And she starts making it. And I'm like, and ham. Put ham in it. And at that point, she came in and she helped me get up off the floor and onto the couch, which is a feat in and of itself.
And then she came by and she started spoon feeding me this because I was just so gone. I couldn't pick up a spoon or a fork or anything. And so she was feeding me. And all of a sudden, I was like, my God, Sharon, did you put ham in this? She's like, you asked for it.
I was like, I'm a genius. It's just the moment I rediscovered the ham. It was one of the greatest moments of my life. I didn't realize I'd asked for it. It's like, there it was, as if by divine providence.
It was just the most wonderful night of my life. I felt horrible the next day, but The moment I rediscovered that ham, that moment just sticks out in my life as one of the greatest. Like, he told that, and all of a sudden, I'm, like, laughing so much, I'm, like, going over into the shoulder. And I was like, God, you can't say something like that when. I'm driving, Paul.
You really can't. He's a genius with ham. Yeah, and that's why he appreciated you bringing the sweetmeats, you know. The man loves his meat, and he loves his booze, and so I think he was just at home at our Oscar show. He was certainly welcome.
I have no idea who this is, but after listening to that story, I'm picturing a combination of Jimmy Stewart and Ozzy Osbourne. You might be onto something. Wait a minute. Pretty good description. Nice.
Maybe it was just the way he said Sharon. Sharon! Maybe that's just where the Aussie part comes from. What's in my head? I've never met this guy.
I've never seen him. I have no idea what this person actually. He kind of looks like a backwoods militia man in his own charming way. I'm not sure if there's a charming way to take that. Paul, if you're listening, we love you.
Love you, Paul. I don't know you, so I can't share the sentiments. I'm sorry. Oh, wow. Alright, what was wandering off now?
Star Trek? I don't remember. I loved it. Boyfriend went so far as to say that he liked this one better than the last one. Which is pretty bold.
I loved them both. But like I said, I guess it depends on what you're expecting and what you're wanting. If you just go in there to have fun, yes. But if you're wanting to be a picky little bitch, then I'm sure there's a lot to be a picky little bitch about. No offense, I'm a Star Trek fan to some extent, but Star Trek fans in general can be picky little bitches.
I mean, I have a Star Trek tattoo. I mean, I can be a picky little bitch, and I'm the first one to pick shit apart if it pisses me off. But like I said, I love this. Like I said, I still love Chris Pine as Kirk. He's still amazing.
I still love Carl Urban. He is so dreamy. He's pretty amazing. I know, right? Yeah.
They could have used a little bit more Carl Urban in this, if you ask me. Most movies could use a little more Carl Urban. He should be in everything. He really should. I still love Simon Pegg because I was very leery about Simon Pegg in this at first.
I was worried about Kumar. Yeah, dude. Seriously. And he did a good job last time. I was amazed.
He got to sit in the big chair. I don't think I'm ruining anything, but he got to sit in the big chair for a while. Spoiler alert. I know, right? Just for a little bit.
And apparently it was pretty exciting. Well, I mean, that's flash forward. I mean, that will eventually be where his character goes. I know. He's the only one of the crew that gets his own ship aside from Kuro.
I think, unless I'm missing some loopholes in my Star Trek. I don't know. I mean, I love Star Trek, but I love the original series. And I've only seen, like, one of the original movies. I've only seen Wrath of Khan.
You are so out of the loop. I am. Yeah. So it's like I have no idea what happens to them. But, yeah, I was pretty excited.
I loved it. Like I said, 3D was fun. 3D was fun. It said it was converted to 3D, so I don't know if it was originally in 3D, but it seemed like it was shot for 3D because everything, like all the effects seemed like it was specifically for 3D. And there wasn't as much lens flare in this one.
Thank God, because he needs to settle down on that. The lens flare that they did do, you're like, holy shit, is that necessary? You're blinded. It's the point where you can't even see half of the character sometimes. It doesn't do it as often.
But when he does, he makes up for it. JJ has issues. I don't know. He does. He seems like a cool guy and all, but I don't get the lens flare thing.
It's out of control. It's fancy shit, but it's just too much. I loved it. I'm sure I'll get some slack for that, but whatever. Fuck you guys.
I love that movie. Like I said, my biggest problem with the last one was Zachary Quinto. Quinto, whatever the fuck his name is. That dude. Yeah, that dude.
Yeah. The fake Spock. Reboot Spock. Because technically they were both there last time, so. No.
Are you okay? I was going to say something, but then I'm like, I don't know if that's a spoiler or not. I can close my ears. Spoiler alert. It's not really a spoiler, but he makes another cameo in the movie.
What? The Spock makes a cameo. Leonard Nimoy makes a cameo in this one. Now you've done it. I know, right?
I'm not even going to go see the movie now. You've ruined it all. It's just like a brief thing. It's not even like fucking life altering or anything. How can they keep bringing it?
It's so going to make the entire universe collapse upon itself. I know. It's kind of getting ridiculous. He even goes against his own shit this time. He's like, I'm not supposed to tell you anything, but let me tell you something.
Marty, on the night that you go back in the Enterprise... I don't know. It seems like you're going to collapse the universe upon itself. That guy's awesome, too. I should take pictures of everybody.
I know, right? I thought it was awesome. They pissed me off during the trailers. Because the very first trailer they showed you in a theater was in 3D. Then none of the rest of them were.
So everybody's still sitting there with their glasses on. But I'm like, this shit's not in 3D. Stop it. Because usually they're like, alright, put on your glasses now. But they did not do that.
So they threw you into the first trailer. And it's 3D. And you're like, holy shit, I'm going to put my glasses on. And you have them on for the rest of the time. And they're not.
3D. 3D. Thank you. We are about to witness the takeoff of the first manned rocket to outer space. We pick up the count.
Seven, six, five, four, three, two, one, zero. We're off to visit the planet that reached the Lord of the Stars. Venus is loaded with candy. At the edge of the universe, 400 men and women are probing the immeasurable. Blackness of space.
Their leaders are an Earthman with no fear, and a stranger with no heart. Travel beyond our time and solar system into new galaxies, into worlds beyond your dreams. Star Trek, every week, in color, on the NBC television network. Hey kids, it's Brian. So you're listening to this episode, and it sounds pretty good, right?
That's because we're using our new mics from the Doo-Wop shop. We are using the VLH SM2000s that are made specifically for the Doo-Wop shop. And if you want one, you can go get one yourself. They are actually only $ 65 if you want to buy one, or they rent everything in the Doo-Wop shop, so you can go there and get it for as little as $ 5 a month. So you too can be out there using your microphones to record a show, or interview people, or, I don't know, most people probably have, like, bands and, you know, rent instruments and stuff, which they also do.
They have a huge selection of instruments, so... Anything you need for any type of event, whether it's a music show or a business meeting or whatever kind of occasion you've got, they've pretty much got everything covered. So if they are located in Louisville, you can go to the Highland Store at 1587 Bartstown Road or in the East End at 2915 South Hurstburn Parkway. Even if you're not in the area, they have the website like most businesses, but you go to doo-wop.com. And specifically, they have a huge selection of karaoke discs.
So you can actually go to the website. They have thousands of titles to choose from, and they're only like $ 4. 99 a month. So whatever you need karaoke-wise, they can hook you up through the internet, and you don't even have to be in the area. So again, that is doo-wop.com.
Go there. They'll have whatever you need. They certainly did with us for the mics. So yeah, go to doo-wop.com and check it out. It was a childhood corrupted by endless hours of VHS rentals.
In his most formative years, he had seen it all. Action. Horror. And romance. Now, he's decided it's time to go back.

And now, on with the show. The End. Whenever I'm at a convention, I find myself wondering whatever happened to Jodi. Actually, I was thinking that earlier today. I wonder if he's out in the field flying a remote-controlled airplane.
Because we were talking to the guy earlier, and he was talking about planes, and I started thinking about Jody. I was like, I wonder if in his world, this guy we were talking to, I was like, if the planes fight each other in a battle to the death in a future world. Jody was special. With remote-controlled planes and kids. Yeah, but he was so excited about it.
He was really excited about it. He was really excited about having me interview him, which is odd, because I don't like people. He was very persistent, but then I shocked and appalled him with my language. Not at the time. I'm sure everyone listening is also shocked and appalled by your language.
It's okay. Everybody should know better by now. But Jody was a certain kind of special, and I don't think he'd ever been exposed to many of the words that I might have said. He seemed like he was a little sheltered, perhaps. He lived in a special world.
He did. He was very happy. That's why. I just want to remind you that upstairs at 12 o'clock, about half an hour, in Theater B, Lee Stringer is. Going to be talking about from Firefly, Iron Sky.
I want to make sure you guys get upstairs to Theater B. I just recently watched Iron Sky, since they just mentioned it on the overhead mic here. Have you seen it? Yeah, I saw it a couple months ago, right after it came out, I think. Or before it came out.
I don't remember. We were going to talk to Lee, who did the special effects, and that's my big thing on it. I was just like, you know, the idea is awesome, but the special effects were great. Especially for knowing that they had a super limited budget putting that together. I thought the effects on it looked really good.
That guy keeps touching that model, and I keep waiting for somebody to yell at him, but I don't know if anybody's going to yell at him. They should. Maybe they're his. You're not supposed to touch him. Maybe it's his.
That's why they're okay. He's touching everything. Maybe it is his booth. Let's go yell at him anyway. Sir!
A couple years ago, that guy yelled at us for leaning too far over the line. Yeah, we were trying to take pictures of the models because they're awesome vinyl models here. You should come next year if you can't be here now since it's already over with by the time you're listening to this. But, yeah, we were taking pictures of them, and they've got these. And it's funny because most of the people working this are like, most of them are high school kids.
They're like ROTC, I think. And, yeah, that kid was, what, like 15 and just started yelling at you and me and, like, some other people. Like, we were just getting too close for his taste, and he was freaking out. I'm like, kid, you need to calm the fuck down. That's what you need to do right about now.
You need to not get your britches in a bunch. What was he kept saying, though? He's like, don't lean over the models. He was yelling something at everybody. He was just irate.
He was out of control. He needed to calm himself down is what he needed to do. That guy over there kind of looks like a tiny Ron Jeremy. I'm sure he's thrilled. That's exactly what he wants to look like.
And yes, I said Jeremy on purpose because I would imagine that Ron Jeremy would be incredibly Jeremy. Well, I would think that goes without saying. Yeah. I said it wrong accidentally. No, I call him Ron Jeremy.
No, no. It's fitting, I'm sure. Oh, Lord. Yep, love Star Trek. Anything else you've seen?
Any fun activities you need to pass along? We don't have cable anymore, so I kind of limited what I got there. It's a sad story. I don't have any more sci-fi, so no more sci-fi originals. That makes me sad.
So we're limited to whatever's on Netflix or already on our hard drive. Well, they just pulled like 20,000 Netflix movies or whatever that number was. It was a lot. That wasn't cool. I mean, I understand why everybody wants to do their own thing.
We should have all seen this coming, and it's funny that people are still getting irate about it, but I'm like, If I was Warner Brothers, I'd want to be selling my own movies. You know, it's like, why would I just hand my movies over to some other company to make money off of it? So, I mean, I understand it. It's just it's going to suck for all of us now because you're going to have to have five versions. Like by the time you pay for Hulu Plus and Netflix. and warner brothers archives and all these other ones it's like you'll just might as well just get cable at that point you're back to the same amount of money you're shelling out for cable every time so i know oh well it's the the new technology that's how it's gonna work i suppose i.
Know i have a blu-ray player now but I don't have any Blu-ray discs, so I'm like, is there really that much of a difference? I don't know, because I got one specifically so I could watch my Netflix on it, because the Goodwins actually have that option. Mine has that option. I won it. I didn't pay anything for it.
I won it in a contest. Because I'm awesome. I got it, and I bought a Blu-ray just because, again, I got one that had cool special features, but I still don't have a digital TV. I have a TV from 25 years ago, so it's not going to make much difference on my TV. Mine does 3D, too, but I don't have a 3D TV, so.
Again, they keep upgrading this technology before the rest of us can get on board with it, because we're poor. Like I said, I had no intention of ever buying a Blu-ray player, but then when, like, they gave it to me, I'm like, I ain't gonna tell you no. I just got it because I wanted to be able to watch stuff on the TV, and, like, it was, like, $ 10 more than the Roku box. I'm like, and I can play Blu-rays if, for some reason, I want one of these with special features, so... That was my thinking.
Yeah, I can't think of anything else I've done. I mean, I'm sure we've watched a bunch of stuff, but I can't think of it right now. Like, we watched, oh, what did I watch? Hemlock Grove? I watched that.
I want to see that. That was pretty exciting. I'm okay with that kid. It's the main wolf boy. And I like the other guy because he's Eric from True Blood's real life brother.
I know it's Alexander Skarsgård, but I can't think of the other guy's name, and I'm pretty sure I just totally massacred Alexander Skarsgård' s name because I just totally said it wrong. But, yeah, the other guy who plays the wolf boy's friend in Hamlet Grove is his brother, and I was so excited. And it's like I'm really confused because at some angles he's really adorable, and at some I'm like, ugh. Like from some angles he almost has like Steve Buscemi eyes, which is not hot on anybody. This is such misty logic we're listening to right now.
And it had Famke, what's her name? Famke Jensen? Famke Jansen? I think it's that one. Famke, whatever the fuck her name is.
She's such a bitch. Hello. That was my nice voice. It's so fake. I know, right?
I think everybody can tell. But, Famke Jansen, she plays such a cunt in this. I swear to God, she's such a bitch. She is. You just want to punch her in her face.
I just think it's funny. I don't know if he's being typecast, but the main wolf boy in this new show is the wolf boy from the Howling reboot. I'm like, and that was just a couple years ago. I'm in the middle of writing a review on that weird Howling reboot. I don't read any of those anyway.
I'm just saying in general. I need to finish it because it's funny because I singled him out as being pretty good in it and then Yeah, it's odd that he ends up being a wolf boy in the show. Have you seen the transformation yet? Like, the actual process? Some people were not thrilled with the transformation.
I'm like, that's just the most impractical transformation I have seen in the history of ever. I've also seen, I mean, that's kind of how Company of Wolves transformation. Goes, too. I haven't seen that either, but it just seems. It's very uncomfortable.
Let's put it that way, if you're not familiar with it. It just seems very impractical. It just seems like it's just a shitty way to do it. It just seems very. It just seems horrific.
Like, it's like, what's the most horrible way we could make this transformation? And it just seems impractical. Like, you're like, all right. What? Yeah.
Yeah. It seems painful. That's all I have. And it just seems impractical. That's my main word for it, is impractical.
And, like, there could have been a much more practical way to do it. That's the impractical. I know. That's just, I can't think of any other words right now. My brain is stuck on that one.
So impractical is the main word. The only word you're probably going to get out of me right now. All righty. Unnecessary. That's another word for you. break out my.
Thesaurus he's my favorite dinosaur i know right. I have no idea what just happened i'm still not sure what happened but uh um yes we watched hemlock grove and i was gonna read the books but then i got on amazon and i was looking at reviews and from the reviews i've read on amazon i should not fucking bother because apparently the book sucks actually there's only one book so far Like, he's the person getting ready to release his second book and they've got an outline for the third. So I'm like, it's going to be forever until the second season comes out. Unless they just throw those out the window and do whatever they want because it's their own show now. I just ended up having a lot more questions than they had answers.
That happens sometimes. It happened a lot in this. I'm just like, what the fuck did I just see? And why did I see that? I don't know.
Anything else you've done that we need to pass along to people? I'm trying to think. Hurts a little bit. Hold on, give me a second. There's smoke coming out.
Of your ears right now. I think I mentioned that I watched the... I'm pretty sure it's called The Last Enemy. I could totally be wrong about that right now. It's like a miniseries that has Benedict Cumberbatch in it, who I adore.
But it's set in, I guess, in the future world a little bit. We're not too far, but we're... You have no privacy. We're everything. They can...
They know where you are at all times. They trace your every movement. They know where you are. Pretty sneaky, sis. I know, right?
That girl has a lot of green going on over there. She kind of does. She's got green hair and a green outfit. And again, those shoes do not go with the outfit. What the fuck?
I'm having flashbacks to previous conventions. I know. I was thinking of Jodi. That made me think of it. Didn't Jodi agree with my fashion assessment?
Probably. Probably. Probably. I think he did. I think he said that he was shocked and appalled by my language, but he agreed with my fashion statements.
You two should get like your own fashion show. That would be the awesomest show ever. The Misty and Jody show. I think somebody would be on board for that. Jody would be so excited.
Do you know how happy he would be? He would be very excited. Oh my God. He's my new best friend. I felt like we bonded.
You kind of did. I mean, it was, you know, sort of your first solo interview. I first lasted only. That was your only solo interview, so you were bonding. Because he forced it on me.
I didn't have a choice. It was sort of pushy in that department. I'll give him that. I don't. Remember what we were talking about.
Give me a second. I've got to run through my brain first. Benedict Cumberbatch being in a show, and it was awesome. Boyfriend liked it. I liked it.
Two thumbs up from me, and I would assume two more from boyfriends. That would be four thumbs. I can do my math. I'm smart. don't laugh at me i've got some math skills i'll be spitting. Numerologies at you you did say you were considering reading a book earlier so i guess you are.
Quite nerdy yeah but i decided not to oh i know. You came to your senses i try to talk people. Out of reading a lot of books i do read a lot of books and i usually like them i like pop-up books and books that have pictures I like the cupcake book. I read that one time that I did for the show. It was pretty awesome.
We endorsed that thoroughly and wholeheartedly. It was awesome. It had a Karloff tie-in, which we're going to be, hopefully, we'll be talking to Sarah later this weekend. That cop guy over there looks like Big Sandy. Not just because he's big, but because his face looks like Big Sandy.
And he walks funny. Anyway. And soon... I'll be going to the Dukes of Hazzard fanfare, and I'm super excited about that. And then I'll have that to talk about.
Do I get to go along with that? I don't know. There's a lot of people over there having a car. I think we're good. Because I want to talk to Roscoe.
Nothing else. Like, again, I don't really even have a tie-in for the Dukes of Hazzard, but I'm like. He was on some episodes of The Twilight Zone, and he was so gorgeous back in the day, like a long time ago. Like, if I can get him to sit down and talk about that, I will make the trip up there. Down there.
It's that way. Then we'll get to see the Duke boys again. Although I'm kind of leery because from recent pictures of John Schneider that I've seen, he's growing a beard. He's had one of those before. I don't like it.
I don't like him one bit. He's a rugged mountain man. What do you want? He needs to not be a rugged mountain man. I don't like beards.
I don't one bit. And his doesn't match his hair. It doesn't because his beard is all gray. It happens as you get old. But his rest of his hair on his head is still Beaudouin colored.
Mm-hmm. He's got a little bit of gray, but his face is like a gray gray. And it's like, makes him look old. Unless he's just doing it to make Tom Wopat feel better about himself. Because Tom Wopat did not age as well as John Schneider has.
Or Catherine Bach. He got to be in a Tarantino movie. Which one? He's in Django. I've never seen it.
He's got a nice little bit part in Django. Awesome sauce. He's pretty cool. He plays a good cowboy. It's not a stretch, I suppose.
Is he from Texas? Does he ride horses? Not during, I don't think. I can't remember. I have no desire to see that movie whatsoever.
It's pretty good, actually. As time went on, I'm more and more impressed. It's written very well, according to me. Fred disagreed. He posted something just tearing it apart.
I went to the museum. That's what I did. Oh, my God. Oh, yeah. You suck because I didn't get to go.
Not my fault. I blame you and Marlena for that one. I blame Lucy. I don't know why. I'll pass it along.
I'm sure she'll be thrilled to hear she's the scapegoat in this. We were with Lucy, so it's her fault you weren't at the museum. We were recording the last episode. But you could have recorded it in front of a goddamn unicorn. You could have done it while riding on the back of a unicorn.
Because they had unicorn rides. I was not invited before we were already signed on. on to do that. It's Marlena. I was barely invited and then I was forgotten until I reminded her that she had invited me and she's like, oh, okay. Anyone familiar with Marlena should be like, oh yeah, this makes sense.
She was too busy sitting around thinking pictures of her cats. Cat, singular. Cross-eyed, beady little fucker. Marlena's very special. She has the ugliest cat and the ugliest dog.
I don't know if he's ugly, but he's a jerk. I've told him his entire life he's a jerk. He's got tiny little beady eyes. He's a jerk. But anyway, so yeah, I went and saw a unicorn.
But then they had unicorn rides. And I didn't get to see the horses. Because Marlena said they were brown horses with a horn taped to their head. And I'm like, you can't have fucking brown horses be unicorns. Because unicorns are fucking white.
There's rules. And you must abide by these rules. When even in the fucking unicorn world, unicorns are white. If nothing else, I learned that from Legend. I mean, in The Last Unicorn, which is a classic and one of my favorite movies from when I was a child.
It's sort of a basic unicorn thing. They're usually white. They're usually white. And they usually have the little tufts of things by their feet, like on the back of their ankles. You know, the little tufts of fur.
You know what I'm talking about? Don't laugh at me. Like, the little hair things. You and your unicorn criteria. Apparently they were brown.
And I was like, what the fuck? But I didn't see them. I missed the whole unicorn ride thing. We're still yammering on. Now we're talking about unicorns.
Oh! Did you hear a comment about unicorns? I like them. Unicorns are nice. And what color would you consider unicorns to be?
White. Maybe some pink. A teeny bit of sparkle is okay, too. See, we went to the museum, and Marlena said that the... I didn't see the horses because I missed it, but she said they were brown with, like, horns on their head.
But I'm like, it's a unicorn. You can have that microphone. Tell them the story. Tell them the story about you going to see the movie The Last Unicorn. I love that movie!
It's actually a traumatic story, traumatic childhood experience. My parents had to drag me kicking, screaming, and crying out of the theater because she turned back into a unicorn and didn't stay a princess and stay with the prince. I've never watched it again. Boiler alert. I'm sorry.
If they haven't fucking seen it by now, throw them in. I have a question, because when I saw that movie, I thought all the unicorns went into the ocean and drowned. Did they survive? My parents told me they did. I don't remember.
You don't remember? Maybe it was so traumatic that I blocked it out. It could be. They all went to a special happy farm where they run free together. Underwater?
They become unicorn seahorses? Yes. Narwhales. They turn into narwhales. There you go.
Oh, wow. Oh, lovely. All right. Come back and. See you in a bit.
What was your name since we've gotten you on the show now? Talk about chupacabras now. Eddie. Ben. There was a chupacabra there, too.
Pulling in random passersby. That's how we operate. But yeah, I went to the museum and had mystical creatures and they tried to sucker me and Marlena into getting our picture taken and charge her just money and I'm like, fuck that shit. They're like, do you want to get your picture taken? And I'm like, hell yeah.
They're like, oh, it's going to cost money. No. Try to charge me money. I got my own damn camera. We are poor and stingy on this show.
I went on the first day because it was only $ 5 instead of like $ 18. Fuck that mess. Oh, I do need to see it, but now that my so-called friends went without me, I don't know if I'm going to have a reason to go, so never mind. You could have went with us, but you were too busy doing other stuff. We were recording an awesome episode.
And we were looking at awesome Bigfoots and Pegasuses and Unicorns and a Fiji Mermaid. You guys suck. I think we need to go back there and record, like, a whole, like, cryptid episode so I don't know if they're on board to like sponsor us for that but I mean we need to go there and hang out next. To the Bigfoot then we walked through the slave ship and that was kind of depressing. That one's been there a while that was there when.
I went years ago I've never been there before. The only time I went was for that goofy thing I. Think we got lost we were just wandering around we ended up not in the mystic creatures area anymore and I'm. Like the other stuff there is pretty cool I like weaponry so you know there's. Lots of guns I was pretty excited.
Guns and swords and whatnot but alright that's all we need to go there and. Hang out with Bigfoot It wasn't a very good Bigfoot. Did you see a picture of it? It looked like just a giant monkey. There are those theories.
We'll have to get Ben back over here for that because he is the Bigfoot expert. Or I don't know if he actually calls himself an expert, but he has theories. Let's put it that way. Most people have theories and most of them are full of shit. There's no Bigfoots.
But there is... Big monkeys. A Bigfoot episode coming your way before long. Because we will return to that one. Everybody seems to have fun with the Bigfoot theme, so we'll be back with that one.
Who'd you say the Bigfoot man is? Ben. Oh, that's okay. And Dave, actually. Both of them are well-versed in Bigfoot.
Looking for the big monkey. She is now showing me the picture of Bigfoot, and he does kind of look like... It's this one over here, not me. Oh, wait, that's you. You're the Bigfoot.
Hold on a minute. Smartass. No, he's like a mixture. He kind of looks like... He's got hair sort of like a...
And a face more like an orangutan. But he's like and standing like he's a gorilla. So I think they just mix the monkeys together. Look at the Fiji Mermaid. He's pretty awesome.
I have a Fiji Mermaid because I'm a freak. They had a Kraken and we released. Released the Kraken. I totally said that too. It's pretty awesome.
I do want to get my picture with that robot though. I think I have a picture with that robot like 10 years ago. Yeah, I have one of me from a long time ago. But we did unveil the new t-shirt. T-shirt's awesome.
As excited as I normally get, I guess. I'm posting pictures. You, yourself, if there's any left after this weekend, they will be available via the website or message us on Facebook and say, hey, that is an awesome shirt with awesome artwork by Belle Dee and you can get yourself one. I forgot to mention that we saw a fake Feldman wandering around the street the other day making duck sounds. You're welcome.
Only the hardcore fans know that one. And basically the ones that listen to your episodes. Because those are the best episodes. Anyways, he was walking down the street going to the store, I'm assuming. I don't know if he had, like, a duck call or he was just making them on his own.
I couldn't tell. I didn't, like, want to make eye contact because he, like, might come talk. He seemed like he wanted to talk to me, which threw me off because fake Billboards usually just wander the neighborhood. Yeah, he's usually afraid because you guys are so obsessed with him. I know.
Oh, the lady was wearing socks and sandals. But, yeah, he made eye contact and was like... And then he just. Maybe he doesn't have the power of speech and all he can do is make duck calls. I don't know.
Maybe. But yeah, all I hear is this. I'm like, what the fuck is that? Why is it in our neighborhood? Weird.
I hand washed the truck. And I look over and there's fake film and wandering down the street. I just had a more duck like than that. I don't have a duck call, so I can't really make a duck sound. You have a very special life.
They put Crazy June in a home. Crazy June. Oh, the one on your street. The one who walks down the street yelling at cars. They put her in a nursing home because from what she told Jay, she's full of cancer and they're going to take her to the doctor and shoot her in the head.
Is that how they operate? This is what she. Told the neighbor because Jay was out talking to the neighbor and she wandered up because that's what she does, wanders about. I've got me all kinds of cancer and they're going to take me to the doctor and shoot me in the head. I'm like.
That's not what they did with Angelina Jolie. It's equally as scary, I suppose. And she didn't even have cancer. She thought she might get it. Yeah, because I was going through this yesterday that she had cancerous cells is what I was told.
I was like, if she didn't have them at all, that's crazy. But if she... Because apparently her mom... Yeah, her mom died. But again, I'm like, okay, yeah, but her mom didn't die from breast cancer.
Her mom died from ovarian cancer. She's getting her ovaries taken out too. I know. I was like, how many things can you get rid of here? Cancer sucks.
It's a losing battle. There's nothing you can do. With the genes she had, she had an 85% chance of getting breast cancer. So now that she's gotten removed and had reconstructive surgery, now she's down to like a 5% chance. I mean, she's got kids.
She's got family to take care of. I totally appreciate what she's doing, but I'm just like, That's a lot to deal with. Like, all of these surgeries. That's crazy. Now she's getting ready to have both of her ovaries taken out.
That's crazy. It's like, damn. She needs to recover because we need a salt, too. That's all I'm saying. Didn't she die in the first one?
Come back, Angelina. Come back. Did she die in the first one? I've never seen it. I heard she died.
I actually love salt. I've never seen it. I was probably one of the few people. I thought it was a pretty entertaining action movie. It had a fun little dynamic.
It had Liev Schreiner. I like that guy. Cotton Weary yeah Cotton Weary he's always going to be Cotton Weary I know. I still kind of think of him as Cotton Weary we need to get him on the show too he seems like a cool guy I can't think if. I've watched anything else it's been so long since I've done the show that I really don't remember what I've done.
We can round it out if you're out of ideas I think I'm out of. Ideas and I kind of have to pee I don't want to take our audience with me on that. Excursion no I still want to be able to use these mics I'm not letting you take it. With you okay good All right. I don't even think my boyfriend texts me from the bathroom.
I don't. I don't do that. It's inappropriate. It is. I don't like it.
Stop. All right. Well, you guys have gotten your misty fix for a while, until probably the next. I have decided, if nothing else, now you're our, what was I calling it? Road correspondence.
Our convention correspondent. Hell, yeah. That's usually when we see you. Every once in a while, we'll drag everything to your house. That way, you don't have to leave the house to record.
My house is a very comfortable temperature. Yeah, compared to mine, it is. I think we've rounded out our misty time. For now. I'm sure you will be back in the near future, whether they like it or not.
Who cares if they like it or not? I like bringing you back on, so you're on as far as I'm concerned. There's no escape from the meltdown. All right. I think we've rambled on.
Yep. Yep. I need to go pee still. I think we should round this one out. So say goodbye, Misty.
Until next time. Goodbye, Misty. You're not. To the listeners. I'm still denying that anybody actually listens.
You've seen them. They walked up and said, you've met several today. You probably paid them. No, no, no. I've seen them at the last show.
They've not listened to ones that I've been on. Therefore, they are not one of my listeners. Well, most people stop listening when they realize you're on it because they're offended and appalled and what else were they? Shocked. Shocked.
They are shocked by your language. That's why I'm not on very much. I figure you got your smart people and your presentable people. It's not me, but the other people are quite smart that are on the show. So, you know.
And then I bring you on and we balance things out because we're both dumb. So it's cool. I'm not dumb. I'm just a bitch. That too.
I speak my words and they're usually bad. Can't argue that. Chock full of profanities. Yep. If I can string together more than one fucking sentence without a profanity, you're lucky.
Didn't work that time. I know, right? That was a fragment, so it didn't really fucking count. Even though there are small children wandering by. It's not really that small.
It's not stopped you before. I know it has not. Tell them all goodbye. Goodbye. Otherwise, that about does it.
We will return next week. Same geek time, same geek feed. Thanks for listening. Except for me, I probably won't return next week. The show will.
You are a slacker and you don't leave the house. Okay. You can't argue that one. We usually have to bring it to you. Convention correspondent.
That's all I'm saying. Used to come from miles around, have dinner on the ground underneath those old shaped trees. And sing the old songs in shaped notes in four part harmony. Like he set me free and he invited me and anywhere is home. How long?
Has it been since you heard an old convention song? I'd still, I'd still love to. Hear, love to hear those old convention songs. That I heard, that I heard as a child, as I sang them all day long. Like I'm a-gonna walk in just a little talk and all the day long.
How long has it been since you heard an old convention song? Gospel songs today have a lot to say. They lift you up when you're feeling down. Some have a country flavor. Some have a modern sound.
They all serve the need of planning seats, so I know they can't go wrong. So there's none so dear as when I hear an old convention song. I'd still love to hear those old convention songs. How long has it been since you heard an. Old convention song?
How long has it been since you heard after a while? How long since you heard? Give the world a smile. How long since you heard I'm winging my way back home? How long has it been since you heard an old condition song?
How long has it been since you heard an old condition song? An old condition song.
