Hi, I'm Adam Green, the director of Hatchet, and you're listening to Movie Meltdown. This episode is rated M for Misty. Yes, that's right, this is a Misty episode, so it will be laced with profanity even more than usual. If you're not comfortable with this level of profanity, perhaps this isn't the episode for you. But we have many other episodes to choose from that do not feature Misty and will probably be far less offensive.

Okay, maybe. With that having been said, on with the show. It's showtime, folks. Enjoy the show. Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million.

Kilowatts of power. What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I am Brian. I am Misty. I'm Jay.

It is summertime once again and obviously because we're doing a whole lot of road trips. So once again, we're. In the car. And this time we brought Bill with us. Say hello.

How's it going, America? We have international listeners. International, that's true. We've picked up a lot of people in Ireland lately and some Australians. Anybody else out there, email us and let us know.

So, yeah, we are on the road having just come back from Indianapolis from the Days of the Dead convention. So I figured we would tell some stories from it tonight. You know how we are with our road trips and our fun convention activities. So, Misty, do you want to fire into it? I know you're all keyed up.

Dude, Don Coscarelli, whose name I probably just slaughtered, was, like, the most awesomest person ever. He kind of was. He was, like, ridiculously sweet and, like, very, like, cool and, like, was telling us stories and just was, like, really, really friendly and just really cool. And he let me get more pictures with him after I got up because he had the shiny ball. And I wanted a picture with the shiny ball.

And, yeah, it was awesome. And I was... made my day i was thrilled. He is pretty awesome he made some of my favorite. Movies i mean beast master really master we we've covered on previous episodes how much we all kind of love certainly you and i definitely are big beast master fans phantasm phantasm the shiny ball bubba hotep john dies at the end he's still cranking him out. And a couple other movies that i probably haven't seen but i've seen a majority of them i was going through his list his filmography if you will And I was like, wow, I've seen a good portion of these movies.

He really hasn't done that many, but the ones that he has done has been awesome. He is badass. He is. And like I said, he was super nice, so that made it totally worth it right there. But, yeah, I was like, how many people are going to be there to get Beastmaster stuff signed?

Everybody's there for Phantasm and everything else. There's a lot of Phantasm people, which is nothing wrong with that. Phantasm's cool and all, but I'm all about some Beastmaster. He told us stories, and that was so exciting. Yeah.

And he seemed pretty excited that I had a hamster at one point named Koto on Poto. So that was pretty cool. Do we want to go into Danny Trejo? That was mostly what brought you along. Do you want to go into your meeting of Danny Trejo?

Absolutely, man. Kind of followed his infamy before I really knew about the social work and stuff that he did, which really gave me a lot of... clean and sober for a long time and i know he works at pasadena recovery house. And he's open about it i'm not outing him but i really. Have a lot of respect for the man and he is just like really the funniest just down to earth dude and he has got to be the busiest person on earth with all the television movie works and how huge he's got now there were gigantosaurus lines there but they moved quick and he completely signed some kick-ass stuff for me, and took pictures, and yeah, he didn't tell as much stories and stuff. As other people and stuff, but he was very.

Personable, and I mean, it made my day, and pretty much he's been on my star radar for a while, and he canceled from the last one I wanted to go to, so as few of these type of Events that I went to, it was like a benchmark, lifetime benchmark to meet Danny Trejo in person. I mean, even after Machete won and such and all the stardom that he's got now, it was just too awesome to meet somebody that big and that cool even before that. If you know any of his, like, how he got into Hollywood and such. Through Edward Bunker, and stuff like that. He's got a long story.

It's a very interesting story, and he's a real positive person coming from the background he did. So I won't hog the mic. Up, but it was a real big deal for me to meet Danny Trejo in person. Thank you. But, yeah, it is.

How does he have time for everything with all the movies and all the TV appearances and all the conventions? And does he still do charity work? Oh, major. So it's like, how does he have time for anything, you know? Almost, I don't know, almost when he's there, almost like around the clock work at Pasadena Recovery House that's famous.

Dr. Drew, I mean, had celebrity rehab there. And going speaking at Narcotics Anonymous, active in those outside groups as well, too. I mean, and then having a pretty decent-sized family. Had the same wife, you know, from way back in the 60s when he got, you know, freed from prison.

That's impressive right there in Hollywood, isn't it? Oh, he's that kind of character. Very loyal. How many kids has he got? Basically, when are we going to start seeing, like, the acting clan of Trejo?

Oh, yeah. Sons and punk bands already. And he supports him, too. Goes to shows. Has helped, you know, has supported him completely.

Been around that. I think he's got about four children of different ages. That Danny Trejo. Which we actually did hear somebody refer to him as we were sitting there. That's that line for that Danny Trejo.

Danny Trejo as well. Trio. Trio. Danny Trio. I hope he was being funny.

He probably wasn't. He didn't sound like it. Nope. He was that line for Danny Tree Joe. And it's like, it's not machete.

It's machete. All right? Get it straight. Machete is spoken here. He signed a lot of those today, too.

Oh, yeah. We've met him at another convention before, and he seemed really nice. And I don't know if that... That was pre-Machete, I think. Well, it was right before it came out, I think.

Yeah, I think the fake trailer had existed at that point, but not the movie. I think he confused you for one of his Mexican brothers or something because he seemed to really like you an awful lot. He does seem really taken with you, Jay. He had a lot more time to hang out and talk back then. The lines weren't as long because most people were just like, ah, you know, he was in Dust Till Dawn, you.

Know, cool. He's in desperado. He's in desperado. But that's all he was at that point. And he wasn't on Sons of Anarchy at the time or any of that stuff.

So the lines were really kind of short. A lot more manageable. I mean, they weren't that bad today. I mean, for as long as what we thought it was going to be or what we had anticipated. I mean, the line was, it wasn't short, short, but it moved fast.

You know, I guess because he realized he had a lot to get done. Moved a lot faster than Roddy Piper's line. How was that for you? Was it worth the wait? Yeah.

Was the line meeting that big, Roddy Piper? Yeah. Well, it was more or less for a friend. But it was interesting to meet him, too, because I do like They Live. Yeah.

I know you kind of messed her name up a little bit. You know, his guy was telling him how to spell it, and he was like, uh, eh, uh, uh, eh, eh. I was like, dude, how hard is it to spell the name? I showed you the name. Just look at the name and spell it.

He seemed a lot more friendly this time. He was very friendly. I'd seen him before, and he seemed like he was just sort of there to do what he had to do, sign this, get the money. But a lot of times it depends. He seems really in a good mood today.

You've got to understand, they're people. So a lot of times, hey, they've got things going on in their lives. Maybe sometimes some people, I don't know, they've got to poop or something. They're not in a good mood. They're ready to go home.

They're ready to go to the bathroom. They're ready just to not have to deal with people. And then some days you catch them and they're in good moods. He seemed like he was in a really good mood. It's fortunate that some of them have done all that, especially his wrestling career and stuff, that are still people that aren't completely demolished by the fame.

No, no. Not likely to afford it. Up. I don't know that Lita Ford's stuck up, but she did really just kind of give me a kind of piss-off look if you're not buying anything. We had stories from other people.

We cornered some other guy who apparently had waited in line and got her autograph, and apparently he was not too happy with her. He said she was rude. And in particular, she seemed really annoyed at Joan Jett. And being that I'm all kinds of hardcore Joan Jett, I'm kind of like, you know, I'm going to pick. Sides, Lita.

You're going to lose, so don't be a bitch like that. I would take Joan Jett over Lita Ford any day. See the runaways, and I kind of see where that... started it goes deep. Yeah i mean they i they i think had issues even from the beginning and towards the end i think they were half the reason the whole band broke up so it's like i know they didn't get along but at least you know you're just kind of being cordial with fans you know just kind of play along yeah that's nice you know at least just be patronizing don't be. Like sometimes you can't be like that though you know it's.

Not The guy's story's like, yeah. He told Lita Forbes, like, yeah, I saw your buddy Joan Jett down in Florida last week. He's like, what did he say? She said, like, well, that's your problem or something like that. Sorry about that.

Wouldn't you think that would be beyond her, even if she's not really as relevant maybe in some circles as Joan Jett? Wouldn't that be a little beyond character for somebody that's known as the Eddie Van Halen of Chick guitar players of that era? That's kind of what I thought. I was like, maybe it's just because Joan's kind of still out there playing and, like, loading up, you know, shows. And when's the last time I've even seen Lita play?

She ain't played at the fair yet. That's all I'm saying. I think she's gotten to the point now where she can't dress up in the little skimpy outfits and parade around on stage. Well, then, what's the point? Isn't that what rock and roll is all about?

It is. It is. Think joan ever got to the skimpy i mean she. Wore didn't care she was a. Regular rock and roll clothes she wasn't like just banking on skimpy clothes she banked on her actual talent which i guess she's been we saw her what twice now we're gonna want her twice.

Yeah because i've seen her like three times i've seen joan quite a few times. And she's Zero times. I mean, the last time we saw her, she was in kind of not really bad shape, but was her hip giving her problems? I think, yeah. I mean, again, they're all getting old.

I mean, she sat down for part of the show. I don't care. Whatever. That's the thing. That's how much of a badass she was.

She was in pain. You could tell. At one point, she kind of stopped the show, and she propped herself up to play her guitar solo. She's not going to stop playing, no matter how much pain she's in. She was badass.

That she was. Yeah, I would take Joan Jett over Lita Ford. That's what I'm saying. She was more runaways than that. Not the limelight lead guitarist, but the all-around, you know, the chick version of the Ramones.

In that era, man, I mean, groundbreaking. You want to say this about Chick Banner, that? No. She was like punk rock in the day. She was a big fixture.

In the early punk scene that morphed into anything else. She was a pioneer and she still holds that reputation to this day. I think that from what I heard like years ago, when I first started like reading about the runaways and trying to find out more about them, like that was sort of the split was that Joan wanted to go more punk rock and Lita was starting to get into the metal thing and she wanted to play her solo. So yeah, Yeah, I'd heard originally. Again, I don't know how much.

That goes into it. But, yeah, that's what I'd always heard. Hog in the spotlight. Who do you think would win in a fight? I'm going with Joan, aside from her hip.

It depends on how her hip's acting up to that day. Oh, that's true. Any regular day. She's got heart, damn it. Yeah, I think Joan would fight dirty.

You know, I think she wouldn't pull any punches. They probably both would. Yeah, I'd be okay with that. She would feel no shame about it either. She would do it and be shameless.

I know. Lita breaking a nail. It would be a tap out. Over there by Lita was Gary. I saw his teeth.

I didn't talk to him or anything. And Jake. We went to the Jake. What was your take on Jake? I knew a.

Friend through college that I didn't grow up with, but met in college to grow up near him. And I'm asking where this came from. Very detailed information on growing this thing. Kid dude I knew from college knew Gary Busey, lived kitty corner across the street from him, knew his whole family and all this stuff. I knew more about that era of his life than his teenage son.

So his son even remarked, I really hate to air out personal stuff, but Gary's got a lot more personal stuff than you're going to hear here. Definitely. He's got more personal stuff than everybody put together. Yeah, I felt kind of bad for him because you were talking to him about it, and he was like, I don't remember that. I guess he had a different, what did he say?

I guess he had a second family. He had a second family I didn't know about. Did you make him cry? Jake seems like a nice guy. Don't make him cry.

Maybe he'll make his dad feel guilty. He'll go take him out and buy him ice cream. Daddy, I want ice cream. I heard about your other family today. He's buying them ice cream right now.

That's where they went. That kid didn't know what he was talking about. That kid at the show. Yeah, he's not in the same spirit wavelength that I am. I thought about getting Gary Busey's autograph.

Then I'm like, you know what? That's a lot of damn money. I can understand maybe like 20, 25 bucks. 25 tops. What's that?

40 damn dollars? 40? $ 40 to get his autograph for Gary. There were a couple of people at $ 40. It's funny how much that's fluctuating these days, and it's kind. Of going up most places.

Well, it was $ 40 to get the autograph and another $ 10. Even if you paid for the autograph, it was still an extra $ 10 to get a picture with him, which, I mean, that's nuts. That's $ 50 total. I can understand ones that do the picture if you buy an autograph. You know, $ 40 for a picture and an autograph, that's not that bad.

You know, but $ 50? You're Gary Busey. I'm sorry, no. I don't know. It's a strange system.

Talk to Odorous. Talk to Odorous. Talk to Adam Green again. That was awesome. Okay, again, I have to tell everybody else because I was amazed by this.

Because I kind of went up and I was like, hey, good to see you again. And he was like, oh, yeah. I didn't know for sure. Again, I wouldn't assume he remembered who the hell I was. This was months and months ago.

And he was like, oh, yeah. And he started talking to me like he actually did. so then he had little posters there, and I was like, oh, I never really got anything last time, so he went to sign it, and he goes, it's Brian, right, and I was like, holy shit, I'm like, why do you, number one, even remember who I was, that, like, you remember where he was talking to me from, and then remembered my name, for God's sakes, it was like, that's crazy, like, I don't even think he asked me how to spell it, he just spelled it right, that's crazy, I told him he had a good memory, if nothing else, but, But, yeah, he was awesome. Again, just kind of hung out. There and talked to him and the producer of his show and, I think, his movies.

And then eventually Odorous wandered up, and he was pretty damn entertaining himself. I made Brian miss getting a photo of Odorous in the outfit. I didn't think he'd take it off that quick. I just wanted to wait in line to see Roddy Piper and then go over to Odorous. I'll be damned if he didn't sneak off.

Odorous is going to pass out. He can't wear all that crazy stuff all day. He just needs to calm his shit down. He just needs to wait and get him a fan. They have fans.

But he seemed really cool. He was really cool. I mean, I've never heard a GWAR song ever. You've never heard a GWAR song? I've never heard a GWAR.

I'm okay with that. You've never gotten slimed by a GWAR song? Yeah. What's the big GWAR thing? Rent the video, and you'll understand, and beware.

Well, and then Adam remembered who I was, but Odorous remembered who you were. Do you want to tell your story? Many, many younger years in Louisville, Kentucky. Uh. I won't blame it all on you.

Decided I was going to jump from the balcony. Phoenix Hill had a balcony to watch the bands, but it kind of overlooked the side of the stage. I decided, and I know it hadn't been done. Because I've been told by the security, which was high-fiving me and actually not throwing me out afterwards, but I asked him about it, not thinking he'd remember, but the whole band stopped playing to look up at it. I kind of like.

Straddled and climbed over the balcony's rail, stood on probably a four inch ledge of the balcony and jumped a full stride at about 27 years old, as far as I could jump on the one foot, then the other on top of their huge whatever stack. It wasn't a Marshall stack. It was like a Grateful Dead stack. but thinner and the top speaker cabinet wobbled the entire time from. When my first foot landed. Now you understand I've drank every kind of beer there was there added the Jaeger Meister gave me the, you know, the Jaeger courage to do that.

But once the wobbling was kind of like, I wouldn't cease it, but I kind of got used to the wobbling. I made a complete flip onto the audience. The audience was so packed. It was such a big show that it didn't hurt anybody. And I didn't get punched.

I got applauded and back slapped all the time. And the entire band had stopped playing to just like, you could just hear silence, a pin drop. and watch me because they probably thought a speaker cabinet was going to go crush whatever member was standing underneath it and they saw it from the balcony because everyone's head turned up there because that was the biggest part he even said was leaping to their speakers but I had done similar stuff at punk rock shows and seen older dudes do it but a 27 year old years old seen Guar a couple of times I don't know what got into me. And from then on, Much of alcohol. Yeah. Sorry.

Sorry. Sorry. Yeah. And the deal is that Phoenix Hill, Thunderdome, from then on, had security guards up on that balcony to prevent any of that kind of stuff. But he remembered it when I got a little bit into the story.

And he even signed Nice Landing in his name. And so I was like. Dude yeah dude so i was really chuffed you know i'll put it i'll put it in my uh photo album right next to jason jesse's you know boxer briefs signed you know. Oh wow otter so it's pretty awesome i have to say he's. Not i've recognized him outside of outfit because no no.

Not at all he was making fun of how like normal he was he was making fun of. His hair like So, yeah, I guess he realizes he's not quite the same. Did he pull his hair? I don't even remember. He said he had John Ritter hair.

So, I guess he realizes he's quite different outside of the costume. And there's an urban legend, and I'm not bashing. I live in Louisville, Kentucky. But there's an urban legend that him or one member from GWAR is from Louisville, Kentucky. Well, he dated a girl there for the longest time is the truth of the crux of the biscuit, so to speak.

So. Basically, they always played there. They had a big following there, and they made regular stops, and he had a girlfriend there. So it wasn't that one of them had. Gone to college or wound up residing there after college.

It was actually he dated a girl there was the truth of the urban legend about a member of Guar living supposedly in Louisville, Kentucky, I found out as well. Rock kids have nothing else to do. They just kind of make that stuff up. Yeah, he was really cool. Everybody from, was it Holliston?

Yes, Holliston. They all seemed really cool, and they were signed for free, which not a lot of people do that, so that was pretty cool. That's Adam's thing, man. He's like, no offense to anybody who charges, I just don't think it's right. These are my fans, and I want to do whatever I can do for them.

That's awesome. As long as he maintains that mentality. I think so. I think that's just kind of how he is. As long as we didn't have to worry about the line from, was it twisted?

Yeah. I'm glad we didn't even have to see the actual band. They were hiding in some little room, I guess? They had their own little magical area. Was it Clowny Daggers, y'all?

Was it Clowny Daggers, y'all? I don't know. Maybe they had their own twisted lows or something. I don't know. Whatever.

They were out the door. They were lined up out the door, down the hallway, and out the other door. What's a juggalo equivalent of a twisted groupie? Probably the same members from ICP with different makeups. I don't know.

ICP may not be at the top of their game right now, and I may be over-exaggerating that. Didn't they do a country album? Huh? ICP did a country album? I don't know.

They're, like, way off my radar. Oh, my. The one guy that's like amazing movies now too so i'm being facetious by the way after having. To dodge all those fans other than that it was really good i mean it wasn't over hot this year like it has been in the past the ac seemed a little bit better. Ac worked the light stayed on the light.

Stayed on i remember that too and really none of the lines were like or at least i don't know i i I was trying to avoid most lines, but even the ones we ended up in seemed like they weren't as long as some of the other places. They moved pretty quick. So, yeah, it was a fun day. Except for Rowdy Roddy Piper's, which part of his was the fact that he didn't show up until 1 o'clock. You know, so it's like people were waiting in line from like 11 o'clock in the morning, and he shows up at 1, you know.

He had to go take Jake Busey to get ice cream. What do you want, man? Somebody had to do it. Dad won't do it. Dad won't do it.

I would have taken Jake Busey after ice cream. For no other reason than to watch his teeth eat. It'd be funny, don't lie. It's not creepy at all. Maybe get Eddie Monster to tag along, too.

We do need to get Butch. I think he's going to be at one of the next shows. Yeah, we need to get him to sit down. How much did Todd offer me to go lick Gary Busey's teeth? I think it was at least $ 100.

I was. Like, I'll give you $ 100 if you go lick Gary Busey's teeth. Just go up and go, I don't know, you might like it. Todd's a very sick man. If he ever wants to show you yearbook pictures, say no.

Just say no. Or his Rush pictures. Or any pictures out of his wallet. Don't ever look in Todd's wallet. Why he has those pictures in his wallet, I don't want to know.

I think Bill missed that whole segment. Yeah, he was. You were lucky enough you were wandering around. You didn't have to see the pictures in his wallet. Laminated pictures.

Yeah, laminated. He felt the need to preserve them. For posterity. That's what you want to call it. Keep him from getting stained.

Gross. But, no, I mean, everybody there seemed pretty cool, aside from Leta Ford giving boyfriend the stink eye. She was not too pleased with you. I even smiled at her. What the hell?

Apparently, you're creepy. I don't know. Yeah, I didn't give her the creepy smile. I've seen your creepy smile. I did not give her the creepy smile.

No, I wasn't there. I don't know what you did. You might have accidentally given her the creepy smile. I just gave the slight grin. That's pretty creepy.

It's not creepy. I just kind of, hey, how's it going? Yeah, that's creepy. Whatever. Trying to hook up with Leader 4 behind my back.

No. Put the moves on me. No. Maybe 20 years ago, but not now. But yeah, I mean, it wasn't too bad.

It was kind of crowded down at the end where the sword swallower was going on. But other than that, I mean, it didn't seem too bad. I mean. I didn't have any trouble getting down the aisles or anything. The vendor booth was really cool.

The vendor booths were really interesting. There was a lot to see, but large enough stuff to pick through to really find something for real cool, you know, really cool for a decent pick. Like I said, I don't generally spend that much time at those kind of events or like a, car show or something like that on my feet but like that was worth walking around all day even at stars that you know my friends liked meeting them seeing them talk UC Sun I mean a lot of that stuff just made my day like I said it was completely completely worth the do and only a couple of those shows it was by far the better one but I guess that all hinges on. On Danny Trail for me. Good start.

You're going to be riding the Danny wave for the next year, I think. Oh, yeah. If I can get you off it. You've been on it for the past couple of breaks. So, you know, my wave now, buddy.

Riding the Danny wave. I was just glad he showed up. I was, like, really worried. Because I'm like... Then again, they added him kind of...

It was, like, not really last minute. But it was kind of, like, close to the date that they added him. So, I figure... Because they added some before that they were already on the list for a long time. Then they kind of canceled towards the end.

But I figured if they added him so late, that it would be a less chance for him to cancel. So I kept checking the Facebook page. I'm like, Bill's going to be so mad if he cancels. Oh, yeah. That was my heartache.

How long ago was that? Was it a year ago or two years ago? No, it was last year. See, I'm still hurting from that one, but now it's all good. It's all good.

Yeah, because he was going to make it. He was going to make it, and what was it? Something happened, and they had to stay over late filming... Son's Anarchy. Son's Anarchy.

So they would have had to fly him out there for a couple hours, then fly him right back home to do filming on the movie. So he ended up just canceling. He's probably right on a plane to go film right now. From what I've understood and the way he... I mean, like.

We already went through all that. He just seems like all around like put 100% into everything, meeting the fans and getting to the filming, you know. Serious multitasker and then something. And has been for years. A whole big career.

Yeah, I don't think he's ever slowed down if he's not working as a stuntman or a bad guy number three. Henchman. Hinchman, stunt coordinator, fight coordinator. Prisoner. Being on Spy Kids.

Yeah, being on Spy Kids. The New Gardener. Yeah, The New Gardener, TV shows, stuff like that. Yeah, I think he's just gotten. Continually busier and busier as time goes on.

Helping out with his NA group and stuff like that. I think the time we went to see him, he got a call from somebody, and he was like, hey, man, can you hold on just a second? I've got to take this call. And then he was talking to somebody, and then he was like, I was one of the guys in my NA group. He said, he kind of talked to me about it a little bit.

And I was like, no, totally, it's fine. You know, I mean, I think it's awesome that you would actually take the time and just be kind of like, hey, hold on. I got to talk to this guy real quick. You know, and it means you care, you know. So.

Yeah, man, he always takes care of his nephew, you know what I mean? That's awesome. In case you wondered, that's Jay's uncle. It's not my literal uncle. Uncle Danny.

It's after midnight. Everyone I knew is dead. The world has been poisoned by the acid rain. Yeah. The dead have come tonight.

Killed everyone. In the night when the rain's came. Everything's gone. These are the days of the dead These are the days of the dead These are the days of the dead. And the dead shall walk the earth.

I kind of forgot because I hadn't had my old pair in a while, and I was using the knockoff crappy ones I bought at the store. And I got these and put them in. I was like, oh, shit, that's right.

These are actually really good. So they are professional. Quality earbuds, mind you. And, you know, noise reducing, compatible with your iPods and Most phones, unless you have a dumb phone. You should really get a smart phone, not a dumb phone.

So anyway, the basic rundown here. If you need yourself some earbuds, tweakedaudio.com. And if you go there, there's a deal. There's a Meltdown deal. If you go, there's a discount code, and you put in Meltdown, you get 33% off and free shipping.

That movie was pretty good. What? That movie gets an M.G. straight up. Straight up M.G. Material.

Honey, is that Robert De Niro across the street? Hey, yo. Sure looks like him. Can't be, though. Yeah, you.

He's calling to us. Let's just go. But it's Bobby fucking D, honey. Hey, yo. That's right.

It's Bobby fucking De Niro over here. Hey, a lot of people don't know this about me. Yeah, I'm mingling down here with the drug dealers, the pimps, the pushers, the low-level gangsters. You know. Honestly, I'm slinging some shit myself.

You may not know this about me, but I'm a fan of podcasts. Yeah, I've been listening to these guys, Bloodbaths and Boomsticks. Couple of knuckleheads from around the way. You got John Smallberries. What a fucking name on this guy.

You got Corey G. Guy's fucking half-retarded over here. Likes John Woo, for fuck's sake. Then you got Tim Gross. He's got the movie watching Constitution of a Billy Goat.

Hey, find these guys at bloodbathsandboomsticks.blogspot.com. Long fucking name, but just go find it. It's worth it. You knuckleheads got that? Yeah.

Bloodbaths and Boomsticks. It's on the house. They called him Machete. This is Danny Trello, a.k.a. Machete.

And you're checking out Movie Meltdown. You better keep checking it out or I'll come looking for you. And I got machetes. I soon realized. They just fucked with the wrong Mexican.

Machete. It's part of your problem, you know, you haven't seen enough movies. All of life's riddles are answered in the movies. And now, on with the show. Tired of hiding Always on the run In a.

Living nightmare Doomsday has come. The dead showed up as if All they started for best This undead army Reduced the world to end These are the days of the dead These. Are the. Days of the dead These are the days. Of the dead We shall walk.

The earth. The one with the zombies. Who did the review that somebody did on Zombie Movie? Not World War Z? No, the other one.

The love story. Oh. Warm Bodies. Yes, Warm Bodies. We watched Warm Bodies.

Yeah, we watched that. I liked it. It was ridiculous. Yeah, you can't take it seriously, but it's pretty funny. It's pretty good.

It's just ridiculous is what it was. I mean, seriously, the zombie falls in love and it brings him back to life. Really? It's one of those you've got to get on board with that idea. Like, it's...

I mean, the whole thing... even zombies at this point, you know, it's sort of preposterous, I suppose. So you have to take it one step further and be like, Oh, and now we can fix them with love. I think I gave my brief review when I read the book. Yeah, he actually did. I think he gave it on the show.

I'm going to stick with that. It's kind of ridiculous. We, we encourage many other people's opinions. It's fun. I'm not saying it's bad.

It's just ridiculous. The one on the website is actually very different. So, uh, yeah, go, uh, movie meltdown.com. Go to the written reviews. There's actually a Cameron Roday review on it that's actually very different than I expected.

I didn't even know what he was going to come up with, and it's kind of caught me off guard. It's a different take on that. So, yeah, go check it out. It's interesting. Oh, jumping Jesus on a pogo stick.

We watched that Nicolas Cage movie. Oh, holy shit. That's what I was going to talk about. We watched Nicolas Cage's Vampire's Kiss. classic oh my god if you want to watch a movie of just bad shit craziness that movie is just nuts and it's nicholas cage nuts and that was early. That is nutty nuttiest yeah.

Nutty nuttiest and basically what it is is about a guy who who's kind of he's going crazy. He's very unstable and already seen a therapist Yeah. He's already seen a therapist. And so he somehow has this weird sexual fixation with this bat. And somehow in his mind, he's been bitten by a vampire bat.

And so now he thinks he's a vampire. Yeah. You run around saying, I'm a vampire, I'm a vampire, I'm a vampire. Yes, he does. Yeah, I know.

If anything, if you would just get on YouTube and watch the best scenes. Yeah, there's a clip. It's crazy. Of Vampire's Kiss. I mean, we watched, it came on, what did it come on?

This? Yeah, it came on this network. We don't have cable. We canceled our cable. This is pretty damn cool.

Misty was like, what the hell is this? And I was like, I don't know. But it's got Nicolas Cage in it. And I hate Nicolas Cage. She's like, oh, my God, he's fucking nuts.

And I was like, we've got to watch this. So we found it on YouTube. If you look, the full version of the movie is on YouTube. You can sit and watch it if you can make it through it. You have to make it through it just to see what he does next.

Yeah, yeah, it's pretty crazy. It's got a, what's her name? Jennifer Beals. Yeah, Jennifer Beals in Skippy Little Lingerie. Flashdance Girl, right?

Yes. You always get her and Jessica Beals mixed up, which is not at all Flashdance Girl. That is not the same person, no. But yeah, it's a very 80s kind of yuppie Wall Street. Kind of reminds me a little bit of American Psycho in a way, but not so much.

If they were crazy. Yeah. American Psycho had vampires. Yeah. And Nicolas Cage.

And bats. Yeah, he's not going around killing people with chainsaws, but he's just fucking nuts. He's crazy. Gnawing on their necks with little plastic vampire teeth yeah but you. Do that too come on yeah yeah so that's pretty crazy it's a crazy movie definitely uh i think in the top 10 uh nicholas cage overacting bad shit crazy i.

Think this is in the top five if not the number one it's well it's probably right behind like the wicker man. It's behind the wicker man but I don't know. This one's more batshit nuts. I think this one might very well top the list of batshit nuts Nicolas Cage movies. It's sad that he has so many to choose from.

Yeah, I think you're right. And yet, can be a good actor. That's the scary part. But have you seen this movie? I'm familiar with it.

It's been a long time, but yeah, I realize how crazy he is. Christ on a cracker. That movie's just ridiculous. Like I said, I'm not a big fan of Nicolas Cage. Don't like him. think he's ridiculous.

But this is just so ridiculous that you can't not enjoy yourself even if you hate him. He was really normal in Valley Girl though. He played a normal role in Valley Girl. He wasn't crazy. He wasn't kooky.

He wasn't any of that stuff. Except for one point where there's like a part where he him and his girlfriend break up and he goes and gets drunk and then tries to start some stuff with these guys and That's about the only nutty part of the movie. But other than that, he plays a fairly normal role. He can play, you know, relatively straight roles and can deliver good performances, but it's... Kick-ass.

That small role that he had in Kick-Ass. Yeah, he's so good in Kick-Ass. Like, he can be. And that one kind of gives you both. Like, he can be very normal when he's being just the dad and the cop, you know, or the former cop.

And then, like, the. Later, when he gets in the costume, and he's kind of overacting, but it's a very calculated overacting. He knows he's doing it. Versus some of those other roles, he just seems like he's crazy. That one, he seems like he's totally in control of how cheesy he's being when he's wearing the knockoff Batman suit.

He's lost all touch with reality in Vampire's Kiss, because he decides to try to talk in an accent, but he drops it half the time. But his accent is his dad as a professor. I'm like, what? But then, like I said, he loses the accent half the time, so it switches back and forth between him having this weird, stuffy, trying to sound like a teacher accent to regular Nicolas Cage accent to just batshit nuts accent. I guess.

And he tortures the hell out of what's-her-name. I can't think of the girl's name right offhand. His secretary girl? I can't think of her name either. Crap, I can't think of her name now because.

He yells it at her so many times. Yeah. But yeah, he tortures the hell out of her. I think he even rapes her at one point in the movie. Does he actually or does she just think that he does?

I don't know. I don't know because you never really know. I mean, she kind of says it, but I don't know. They don't really show it or anything. He kisses her while she passes out, but then they show him running off.

So either he did it really quick or she just thinks he did. I don't know. Yeah, I don't know. Who knows? On a cheerful note.

I think that's all we watched. I don't remember watching anything else. I'm sure we have. We just don't remember. Yeah.

I don't know. Well, I did see World War Z. How was that? Again, you guys have it, so I won't ruin it. I won't go into any of that.

It's just, it's very strange. Like, to me, I guess the, there's, I guess, two big criticisms I have with it. Because there's some great stuff. Like, that opening, like, 20, 30 minutes of the, you know, everything falling apart is pretty amazing. Like, there's so much that's well done about that.

But at the same time, number one, and this is just me being, you know, horror nitpicky, I can feel them backing off to PG-13. Like, for a movie about zombies, you don't see anything. Like, it is so much, like, watered down compared to Walking Dead. And Walking Dead's on television, you know? Like, it is so... really backed off so that they could bring in a wider audience.

Is there no blood? Do what? Is there no blood? Not much. Like, I mean, it, it almost barely even shows you any attacks.

Like it just sort of cuts away from everything. Like you at least kind of get what's going on, but like it pulls back so much on those shots. That I think it kind of hurts the movie. Like, I feel like you're there for that. You need to see that.

Like, it even kind of cheapens the movie. Like, if the world's falling apart, this is horrible. We kind of need to see the horror so that we get it, you know? If you make everything super nice and clean, it's like it doesn't. You don't get the full impact.

Yeah. So, I don't know. I think that bothered me a lot just because I felt like it needed that to some extent. What I will say, it's cool, like. it does become more of like, to me, as I got into it, I was like, it's not even like it's a zombie movie as much as it is almost like an outbreak movie. Like it's almost him or just like the movie outbreak or like one of those where they're just trying to track down a virus and figure out what happened and where it came from and how do we deal with it?

And like, that's what it becomes. It becomes almost like a detective movie for like the whole middle section. And it's just Brad Pitt traveling around to these different locations where, you know, this happened here and how, you know, he starts trying to piece things together. And then by the end, it becomes sort of a big, more traditional set piece. It becomes more of a standard zombie movie kind of thing.

The only thing that the other criticism I had was you also don't feel, you don't feel connected to anybody. Like again, the zombie genre, like that's what you get into is like, it's not about the zombies. The zombies don't have any personality. You attach yourself to the survivors and the people that are fighting against the zombies. And like, there really isn't anybody like all you get is Brad Pitt which don't get me wrong Brad Pitt's awesome but like he also doesn't have a whole lot of character in this like he.

You don't really care if he lives or dies. I mean, you kind of know he's gonna because he's Brad Pitt. Like, they're not going to kill him off. He's Brad Pitt. You just don't care.

You don't have that sense of urgency about it. But, like, the other people. Like, there's a few other people that get introduced along the way, and you really don't care if they live or die. And there's one, there is a chick that comes in, like, midway through that was in the military, and she's kind of cool. And you get, like, a little bit of her story, and you think, you almost feel like, oh, I wouldn't want her to die.

But, like, they don't expand on it at all. So, like, really, as time goes on, you're like, I kind of wish they would give us more with her. Like I wish she just had a little more development. So I think it's kind of cold as far as the people go, but I think again, it's good enough to watch and enjoy. And like, I think that again, that opening scene is amazing and the CG is not quite as bad as I was fearing.

I was hoping there was really bad zombie stuff, but you see it in 3d. Uh, no, thank you. I, I don't need any of that nonsense. I haven't seen it. Um, the, Two friends that I have gave pretty much an equivalent description of what you said.

The impression that I kind of am getting from this, it's kind of like some Tom Cruise movies that it's a darn good story. He plays a darn good character. But then again, it's like you're always reminded in the film that that's super dude, Tom Cruise. It's like he kind of steals the spotlight. And his character's larger than the plot at hand.

He's like, there's no way that he's going to come out of there, you know, even scratched to a degree of, you know, it just being complete savior. Yeah, and again, I think probably even better than, you know, some Tom Cruise movies he phones it in. Sometimes he does give really good performances. But you always know that he's like... the main thing about the movie. Yeah.

But like Brad Pitt, that's not true. Like, you're hard pressed to find a bad Brad Pitt performance. Even if he'll do bad movies on occasion or make questionable judgment calls but like he never really phones it in like he's always really good but again this one I don't blame him as much as just the way it's written it's like it's written that he's got this mysterious past so we don't know anything about him because of that in the and then, like, he gets sent out on this mission, and it doesn't really expand on that any, he's still, like, this just mysterious dude trying to track things down, and so, I don't know, I think it's interesting, but, yeah, it's not, it's far from perfect, they definitely set it up so that they could do more down the line, so I'm kind of interested to see if they, well, I already know they've already greenlit the sequel, because it made so much money, so, They're doing something with it.

Did you feel a lot of it was like that and at that audience directed at a certain younger audience that might really be based on the ticket turnout? I think that's definitely why they backed off the violence to make sure they kept. It at PG-13. So they could get in the younger crowds. Yeah, so they could get a.

Because, again, zombies are so popular now that, like, you could really bring in a lot. But to me, it's like if you're into zombie movies, almost all the zombie movies you're watching are already. So you're not... doing anything. Everybody that's going to go see it, more than likely, is already watching stuff that's way more gory. So, I don't understand that.

It's like the child-friendly zombie movie? Yeah, kind of. It's like the starter kit to zombies? It kind of is. It's one of those you can almost show to a kid that's kind of right, you know, whatever, again, I would say, I would name a number, but it's kind of changed over the years.

They're much younger now than it probably used to be. So, that kid that's like right at the point where you're thinking, they might be okay with this. So, the only other thing I was going to say that's weird is, I I don't know if I've ever seen a zombie movie that changes the way the zombies operate in the same movie. And isn't just doing it badly. Because I've seen super Z budget movies that just did it because they were stupid and they weren't paying attention.

But this one, they are beyond fast zombies in the beginning. They are cheetah speed. Super speed. Yeah. See, that's the thing.

I understand why they do that because they want to make the zombies appear more deadly. And frightening intimidating when they're fast and and it's a virus more or less so it's to call it a zombie movie you know it's like i'm sorry i don't like my zombies to run because that doesn't make any fucking sense you're dying you're dead Your flesh is decaying. It doesn't give you superhuman speed and strength. It depends on if you're counting it as a zombie. Because, like, the 28 Days Later thing is the same thing.

It's a virus, so technically. They're not even dead. Well, then why call it World War Z and not World War V for virus? Yeah, they do say that they're zombies, and I guess, I mean, it's so quick. That's something that's kind of cool.

Like, in that opening scene, he starts timing it out, and you've got about a 12-second period between when you get bitten and when you turn. So it's not like you sit there for an hour and then you come back from the dead. It's immediate. And that's why that opening scene is awesome because you see it just hitting this crowd of people and it's just one to the next. And then that person starts eating somebody and then that person.

So it takes over the crowd. Yeah, that's also the attention span of most kids pre-teenage as well. You're right. That's probably it. 12 seconds and then I've got to check my phone or start playing a video game.

Yeah, that's probably what it is. So, yeah, that might be some of it, too. But I think that's an interesting aspect to it, yeah. I heard a lot of the most complaints about it was it not matching up with the book at all. Oh, I mean, it doesn't even pretend to.

I mean, the book isn't even a through line. It's a bunch of short stories that are just told from different people's perspectives after, like, years after the outbreak, basically. Gotcha. And then this is, you know, they basically bought that rough idea and went, okay, well, we've got Brad Pitt. We're putting Brad Pitt in every scene.

So then they just create this character and this through line of him trying to figure things out. And he does go to some of the other countries that they visit in the book. But, yeah, I think they don't even pretend to be anything close to what the Max Brooks wrote. I just heard a lot of people complaining about that, though. I don't think I knew quite exactly what the book was.

I've never read the book. Book people like to be whiny, is my opinion. Sometimes they're justified. No, I'm just like, just read the book then. The book's right there.

Go read the book. Like, I understand. I get mad that they bought the property and don't want to make that story. But with this one, it's just like Hollywood would not make a bunch of short movies. You know, it's like you can do that with indie movies, maybe.

But with some. Things, I understand some things having some more leeway because that would be too hard to make a movie. But certain things will just stop because. It'll be in a big argument. No, I mean, I don't care.

I'm just saying I can't imagine Hollywood making that story the way that the people who like the book would approve of it. No, I'm just saying that there are other books and other properties that get... Never mind. There are. I mean, they do make dumb decisions sometimes.

I don't pretend, but again, to me, it's just a separate thing. The book is the book, and they're going to make their changes when they make the movie. I just think that when you have a property that is popular and famous and has a lot of source material to go and change everything to make it either more... controversial or. Or mass-friendly. That's probably more what they normally do.

Not even mass-friendly to make it more like, ooh, can you believe they did that? I understand what you're talking about. Like the whole deal with True Blood. More palatable. No, they made it more unpalatable just to make it more.

They'll look around, see what's going on in the world today, like what's in the news, and then try to work something in along the storylines. to try to shock and offend people to get them to watch it. To be like, oh my God, I can't believe they did that. Okay. Rather than just stuff so far out that it's in the zombie world, not in the younger kids' world of today of bullying. That's just a reaching out of the blue type of thing.

Bring a relevant. Element to it. Well, some do that too. I mean, it can be done the right way. it's a fine line because again, you look at like, again, not exactly a movie, but you look at what they, what they did with the walking dead and just giving it a totally, like it will just veer off and you will add characters and you will, characters will take a totally different story arc. And like, so it, in that way it almost makes it work better for them from both ends.

Because then if you want to watch the show, you can watch the show. If you want to read the comic, you can read the comic and it kind of makes you do both. It's like, And that one doesn't bother me. Yeah. Well, see, again, that's one that's done it kind of the right way.

I think that's a really smart way that they went about that. Whereas. They've made it more interesting. They've added things and they've, you know. Tweaked it.

And to me, it's not killing. Because that's what I always think is so many people in dumb America, no offense to us, but, you know, I'm one of them, will do one or the other. Like, you know, it's like, well, I already read the book. I don't need to see that. Or more accurately, I don't need to read the book because I've seen the movie.

And I think if you. Bother to make it different in a way it makes you go oh well now i kind of want to go get the book or i want to have. Some similarities in character because you you like these characters from one or the other or you won't care about finding out further stuff you know it's like yeah but if you get to the point where you hate the character you don't want to see what else they're fucking doing because you want them to fucking die that's when they've taken it too far whereas you know walking dead's done it right true blood said it horribly wrong I don't know. It's a fine line. Again, they are always going to do that with books and movies, so I don't know.

Hey, and apparently the Walking Dead formula, which isn't necessarily the Hollywood, you know, the ticket booth formula, has done incredibly well at whatever they're doing, if that doesn't speak for something, you know, rather than this complete, you know, change that we're talking about, this different approach. Or their popularity has exploded yeah oh my god go to a convention where the walking like anybody from the walking dead is and it's it's ridiculous they. Almost need to split off and get their own convention it's kind of getting to that point it's getting to that zombie walks. Are all over the world now almost every state has a zombie walk if not every city and it's it is it's it's incredibly popular And.

Not just popular, like mainstream popular. Yeah, they have the zombie runs. I think there's a gun range down from where we live that's having the zombie shoot, where they've got a bunch of zombie, I don't know if anybody's familiar, they've got zombie targets that bleed. Oh, yeah. Yeah, they're full zombie targets, and you shoot them, and they actually bleed and fall apart and.

Stuff like that. They're like mannequin size. They're not like. two-dimensional they're 3d they're. Three-dimensional they're mannequins so you've seen them at the gun shop just for. Anybody who doesn't know what we're talking about yeah uh.

But apparently they have a a nighttime zombie shoot where you're they load you in the back of a pickup truck and then they drive through stressful. Situation this just sounds dangerous. Well, yeah, you get to bring your own guns, I think. I don't know if. So this all seems like a stressful situation.

Sounds like parts of America, certain towns at night anyway. Yeah, well, it's a full drive-through gun range kind of deal. But they're real straight. I know some people are probably like, oh, that's just irresponsible. But the gun ranges are very, very, very safe and very well regulated and They've got range marshals that are there to stomp your ass if you get out of line.

Or to step over the line too far. Or to step. Over the line too far, yeah. You listen to the range marshal, because the one they usually have at ours reminds me a lot of Arlie Ermey, and he's not afraid one bit to start screaming at you if you don't follow the rules. And he will kick you off his range, so.

With an iron fist. Yeah, he's like, you will pack up your shit and you will go home and you will be done for the day. Like, oh, okay. Cool. Well, I watch zombies.

Did you have anything you've seen lately? Anything you've watched? No, I. Was a semi-follower just a matter of when I was home and able to catch The Walking Dead and then, you know, had heard I don't have the internet, but I heard the chatter about the Talking Dead and the book as well. And exactly what Misty was saying about like completely milking my buddy, not quite being a little bit lazy, not quite driven enough.

I read quite a bit enough, but really wanted to get inside the book and stuff like that and follow that as well. And it completely grabbed me. and kind of turned me on to the whole, you know, the whole conspiracy zombie government, further conspiracy kind of stuff as well, but the whole zombie apocalypse type of genre, and when I finally did get to see, during holidays and such like that, the back-to-back, you know, long-term stories, I've just become a complete. zombie fan, period. And that reflects back to a lot of movies I grew up watching. Like, you know, I don't know, even different movies like They Live. I mean, seeing Roddy Piper was like, to me, I was a little bit older than the wrestling age, even though I give him kudos for being that generation and stuff like that.

But They Live, dude, come on. Come on. Like they were saying, like, you know, they're bigger into his later stuff. But when I saw that ball from Phantasm, I started to have nightmares all over again. I think I'll have them tonight.

And I'm blaming them on you guys for talking me into going here. I'll have nightmares about the winged creature things from Beastmaster, which we also talked about with Don Coscarelli. He's so awesome. He was very cool. I'm like.

Glowing with happiness. It was a good run, I have to say. I don't know if we exhausted all our stories from Days. Of the Dead. I think so.

I just spent most of my time hanging out with Bill and looking for him and trying to make sure he didn't get lost. Which he only did once. Yeah, I just lost you that one time. We didn't know where you were. We couldn't find him at the end of the day either.

He went out the other door to go see. Well, it was fun, so we do want to say thanks to the guys at Days of the Dead who set it all up and had us come in there and check it out. And Don Coscarelli. I want to take a second to thank him personally just because he was so awesome. Thank you for being awesome.

He was awesome, yeah. I thank all of the celebrities who were very nice, but Don in particular was pretty damn cool to us. That's like the best. That's like my second favorite celebrity meeting right there. He was very cool.

You know. As was Odorous and Adam. They'd probably line up after that, but it's got to be John Schneider and then Don Coscarelli. I don't know. Don Coscarelli was so nice, he might have even bumped out John Schneider.

He was so fucking nice. Holy shit. I'm just thinking he didn't give you... Are you going to be getting a Don Coscarelli? No, I will be getting a Beastmaster tattoo.

I will get a Beastmaster tattoo before I get a Don Coscarelli. Get him holding the Beastmaster sword in the thong, and that's like the double deal. That's the double deal. That's the Don Coscarelli in the Beastmaster costume. We were talking about that, too.

Yeah, I did ask you if he wears that regularly. He had a picture of him and Mark Singer. And it's Mark Singer in the little outfit. Spadangly leather action he's got going on. He's like, can you tell which one I am?

I was like, come on, you wear that all the time. Don't lie. Well, again, they are actually putting together all kinds of them now throughout the year. So there's, I think, three. Not near here, they're all spread across the country.

So if they're in your neck of the woods, I would definitely check them out if. I were you. Yeah, since we are going out to people all over, check it out. I think they've got one coming up in Atlanta. They've got Chicago and Illinois.

Yeah, Chicago and Illinois. Yeah, there's one in Los Angeles, I think. I don't know, check the website. Atlanta? Did we say Atlanta?

Yeah, Atlanta is definitely coming up. It is daysofthedead.net, and yeah, they've got several more in the works, so go check it out. Anything else to pass along? Beastmaster is awesome. Beastmaster is awesome.

Good times. Good times. Beastmaster. Hell yeah. The master of the beasts.

Otherwise, that about does it. We will return next week. Same geek time, same geek feed. Thanks for listening. One, two, three, four, five, six.

So if I still want an hour. Gonna ride by the stop and shop with the radio on. I'm in love with the modern world. I'm in touch, I'm a modern girl. New York City when it's late at night.

I got the radio on. Thank you. Thank you. Let's do it all night. We're the Radio 1.

Got the FM. Got the power. Got the magic. The 50,000 watts of power. We're going faster miles an hour.

I feel like a road brother. Can't you hear it out in Jersey now? Oh, New York City when it's late at night. I'm heading east on St. Mark's over to Tompkins Square Park, down by the power lines.

I see all the neon and it's cold at night. Yeah, well, I got my radio on. It's so exciting here with the skyscrapers in the dark. I feel in. Touch with the modern world.

I feel in touch, I feel alive with 50,000 watt power. I got the radio on. I run around, I run around the world. Radio on. It's all about the miles an hour.

Radio on. You know, I walk by the stop and shop. Radio on. And then I drive by the stop and shop. Radio on.

And I like that much better than walking by the stop and shop. . .
