Hello, this is Peter Mayhew, listening. To Movie Mountain. Mookie, Mookie, Mookie, look up to my name. It's time for Sofa Theater. You dare to challenge one who serves the master?
No earthly thing may take that right unless. Life is hereby profited. And every male and female of your line is damned! Sofa Theater. A hairy creature with rugged features Sing Van Halen's Little Dreamer And as he sang his tune My girl started to swoon Welcome to Movie Meltdown Sofa Theater.
Once again, I am Brian. This is Roger. And Marlena. Alright, we are all back this time. Yep.
This week's Sofa Theater feature is terror. Oh, let's see. Jesus. Here's 1978 director Norman J. Warren.
The plot is royal ancestors feel the wrath of the curses of the condemned witch Mad Dolly who spews forth her prophecy while she is burned at the stake. Okay, and from right here, spoiler alert, because if you don't want to know what the hell's going on in this movie, which we're still piecing together. I have no clue. But, yeah, we're definitely going to ruin whatever comes about by the end of it. So, yeah, I would go watch it first if you feel you need to.
If you can't. If there's no other movies left. The hell you say. But before we begin, since this is, you know, part two of Wookiee Fest, it's time for another session. Of Oh, nice.
You can swing the door wide open because we're definitely digging very deep into the vaults for this week's movie. Balls deep. Terror. The major starring vehicle for our friend Peter Mayhew. I mean, he was huge in this movie.
His heart was massive. He's huge. I mean, that counts, right? Yeah. So, yeah, it's an interesting.
Well, that's the thing. Looking into his movies, yeah, if you want to watch a lot of movies that Peter Mayhew's in that aren't Star Wars related... We're about done. That was it. I mean, short of Sinbad and this movie, there's one or two other minor little things, but everything else, he's pretty much Chewbacca in like every movie and then every TV appearance here and there they show him.
But I mean, he's almost that. I mean, that's been his. Career pretty much his entire life otherwise. So I thought it was funny to do an entire, you know, show centering around him and but you know we're not gonna watch star wars yeah exactly i mean i thought anybody else would probably spend the whole time talking about star wars or hell even sinbad no i want to do terror no terror in which um not to spoil this whole effect for you but he has all about 10 seconds on screen yeah at least his face uh you see him sort of lumbering along but we'll get to that later but i think it's funny that he's he's just a minor minor character in this and yet I'm centering the entire episode around it. Why?
Because that's how I operate. That's how I roll. So, without further ado, let's hear what Peter has to say about making Terror. What do you remember. On Terror from 78?
Oh, God. Um, Terror. It was a three-day shoot. Yeah. I played the biggest red herring that was going.
It was shot during the summertime. Yeah. And to get the rain they. Had a fire pump pouring. Rain up into the air and down onto this particular house.
So even within 15 You were getting wet. All I can remember really is the wetness of three nights on the truck. And you just did it and never thought any more about it. Thank you again to peter for sharing his memories and basically helping me discover this otherwise forgotten movie now whether or not it's best forgotten we are about to discuss this ruby all right let's get. Into it i don't know how to get into it though it's well we start off with a witch burning we start off in what 300 years ago some sort of cess and screaming just like.
Like speaking in tongues by the end of it. This is where he was inspired to create the Chewbacca. i don't know this was after too. Long was it yeah it seems right after. It was right after the first one it was before empire. Really it looks like early 70s maybe it's just the quality of it yeah i would have guessed like 72 no it was.
One it kind of plays yeah it kind of plays the oh no you're. Right it would have had to be at least 76 because for some reason on the mirror it said sham 69. Yeah, and you're still perplexed by it. Yeah. Written in lipstick on this mirror in this place that we'll get to later.
Yeah, it says this random thing, and I just ignore it. Yeah, I don't know either. It's the P-O-E of this movie. Sometimes you just have to put random graffiti-esque things in there, and that's what they went with, so... O-P-E-P-O-E.
I'll figure that out. It's in the Coen Brothers work that's in there. In Raising Arizona, it's written on the wall. It turns up in a couple other movies. Oh, really?
It just makes appearances? There's weird theories as to what it means or what it's supposed to stand for, but graffiti, they work in different places sometimes. Really? It's just letters. It's just initials.
It's probably just an inside joke. I'm sure it is. But it's like one of those. I think movies have to do that. I mean, sometimes just for, you know, set dressing, you have to dirty things up and throw some graffiti around.
So then sometimes it becomes funny what they decide to put in there. It's probably just random. They're like, Jam 69 rules. Yeah, I'm sure. It's like when somebody went to high school or something.
Dude, we rule. Kurt Loder. Kurt Loder. Kurt Loder. I don't know if anybody else gets that.
No. Nobody from. Just to bring the story together. Well, they probably know who Kurt Loder. Well, actually, maybe not at this point.
But for some reason, like four or five years ago, a local, I'd say not even talented graffiti artist. No. um decided to start writing kurt loader everywhere yeah every dumpster every wall downtown said kurt loader not even like creatively done like a big block letter just written just randomly written so yeah but just to continue on this ridiculous train of thought All right, so where were we at? So the witch scene. So, yeah, we get into this, like, you know, several hundred years ago plot line, and you're following it, and they're burning this witch, and then all of a sudden it's the end, and we thought we were done, but no such luck for you two. Well, it was awesome, though.
I was kind of like, yeah, they're watching... The movie the guy has made. Yep. But yeah, that's kind of where I've just kind of lost track of what the hell is going on. Like, it just seemed like the death scene movie to me, where it's just like...
Pretty much, yeah. Kind of Final Destination style. Sort of? Not as far as how the deaths unfold, just kind of like, that's all it's about, it seems like. It's about these people dying.
And that's cool, but... Pretty much. Like, what? Yeah. But the acting, while this is happening, is golden because it's so terrible.
Yeah. And things are happening that don't make sense at all. The bathtub scene with the fully clothed... Do we want to go ahead and get into that? Because that's like a big major...
Oh, anything. I mean, we can go anywhere. I just jumped to that. We can get to that one. We can get to that, yeah.
But just as far as the overview, though, but it really is. Like, the more I was watching it this time, I was like, it's almost just like broken... death scenes from any random horror movie. It's like they barely even find a way to string them together. It's like they don't follow any type. They don't follow any specific even way of going about killing people.
It's just it's almost like the director had some like ideas that were like started off He's sitting around with his friends going, wouldn't it be weird if there was a. Scene where like. And then from there, enter every death scene that takes place in this movie, especially the more supernatural ones. That's where this gets confusing is because it sets it up. And probably the first two thirds of this movie is trying to be a giallo.
It's trying to be a giallo whodunit. And they give you this whole setup. It's a killer, it's a killer, and we're looking for who the killer is, and then midway through, well, it hits that two-thirds in, and it throws those rules out the window and goes back to the supernatural element, which was introduced at the very beginning, but it's almost like they strayed from that. it's like they were they were trying to lead you down this other path of it's a killer you know it's just somebody out there killing people which i guess it was but they never really even tie it back together in that angle at the end it's yeah so. Yeah they never my problem my main problems with this movie number one The lady was.
A witch, but they don't explain what she did or why they needed to burn her. It doesn't matter. She was a witch. Burn her! She was obviously a witch.
Well, she was unattractive, and she screamed a lot. So two for two, right there. And she had an annoying laugh. She laughed like. That's right, yeah.
That was her evil cackle. Burn that bitch. Who was that man thing? Woman man thing? The one that lived in the house?
She was my favorite part of the movie. That I have to say, I'm thoroughly convinced. Have you ever seen the Seinfeld where they go to L.A.? No. Have you seen that one?
Kramer takes off to L.A. and he wants to be an actor and he's pursuing his dream. The next week it carries over and Jerry goes out there to do the Tonight Show or something and he follows him. Well, they enter into this crazy plot where there's a serial killer on the loose, and they're thoroughly convinced that Kramer did it. The police think it's him, and they put it on the news. So what this is all leading to is I'm convinced that Larry David was sitting down watching this on cable one night because not only does some of that kind of follow this basic idea, but when they go, he's staying in this boarding house. there's this woman that's like dead up that lady like she's like the prime TV version she's not quite as scary and creepy and manly but she's like a hundred years old tons of makeup caked on and also thoroughly delusional that she was a star like she's going on and on like she's dressed in like a nightgown or something but she's you.
Know that's a pretty common character yeah. Yeah definitely yes but this one's so close I'm just like he had to have been sitting around watching this at some point and went I want to steal that that's funny so yeah and that one she's like talking about making a movie with three stooges and then that's like the last thing she made but she's still waiting for her phone to ring every day and she's just like you're too sensitive for this business they'll break you and yeah so to me this this woman is dead up exactly like that only scarier and way manlier. Way way manlier oh. Oh wow i want no more calls today okay appointment with Sidney? Yes, well, you can cancel that as well, can't you?
I've got some serious thinking to do. Vis-a-vis? Vis-a-vis, that sooner or later we're going to have to tell the whole story. Not that cocked-up version we told the police last night. I thought you told everything.
Oh, really? What about that little incident with Anne and the sword? Why on earth should they be interested in that? Doesn't it interest you? First that happens, then we find Carol's body.
Jesus, do you know what you're saying? I'm going to have to talk to her. James, what's the matter with you? Why on earth should she want to kill Carol? Well, why on earth should she want to kill me?
No reason at all. I mean, I can't really say that much about this film just because it's so bizarre. That's my favorite part, actually. As it went on, I was like, it's such a mess that that's almost its selling point. It's a train wreck.
I mean, it's not like... Let's clarify. It's not one of those movies that are hard to follow because it's such an intricate plot line. It just genuinely. Does not really make that much sense.
I think the director was probably drunk. He's made a lot of movies, though. He's actually... Drunk. There's a poster on the wall of one of his movies right before this.
He's done a good amount of them, and they're all sort of these horror movies. These, like, cheaply done, you know, horror movies. What about the taco shack poster? I'm not sure why. Yeah, in the middle of this movie shoot that they're doing, there's a taco shack poster on the wall.
Even a movie puts a taco shack poster in their bathroom. That's a little too on the nose, really, don't you think? So. Do you want to talk about the film? This guy, our main character, I guess, if you will, aside from the lead crazy chick.
But there's two main, the two leftover heirs of this family that has been cursed in the movie we see in the beginning. He's a rich dude. I guess we're calling him a film producer, probably. Maybe director. They never really go into it, but he owns the studio.
Wow. So they make a couple of trips during the movie to this studio, one of them, well, two of which is while they're shooting a movie called Bathtime with Brenda. Okay, now, from the top. Well, here we are in the bathroom. Why don't I run some water?
But I've just washed my hands. You just washed your hands? It's not your hands I'm bothered about. Giggle, giggle, giggle. Are you that.
Are you Auburn all the way down? You'll soon find out. And into the bath. Into the bath. Would you guys like to elaborate on bath time with Brenda?
Bath time with Brenda. Worst porn ever. Yeah, worst porn ever, but at the same time, I really want to see this movie now. Because Brenda wears a bra and panties while she's in the bath. Apparently giving the dude the worst handjob ever.
Well, it's just sort of a sponge bath in the tub. In the tub. Which makes no sense. And he's wearing jeans. Yeah, he's got jeans on.
Which, you know, it's always hottest when you're wearing jeans in the tub. Yeah, he was so not into it at all. I was so not into that part at all. But she's hilarious because she's doing, like, her acting is to say the stage direction, basically. She says, giggle, giggle, giggle, and when it's time for her to strip down, she says, strip, strip, strip.
I'm sorry, that's funny. God. She's so dumb. Yeah. Oh, but they work it to their advantage in that scene.
Yeah. I mean, it almost comes off as she's not acting that she's dumb. She's just really that dumb. Well, we'll get to that in a minute. She is our little bonus material on this episode.
It's a pretty good death scene, too, I'll say. It made no sense. Everyone in this movie fell badly. Like, everyone fell, and it was like the most ridiculous fall. It was like a three stooges kind of fall.
And they could not get up, no matter what. Like. Well, there was that. Crazy witch wind blowing. It was blowing me around.
Even then, there wasn't a crazy witch wind. People were just falling. Some people just randomly fell. They were just so befuddled that they just couldn't stand upright. It's so ridiculous.
God. It's awesome. the dude with the car he just did he just fall or he just yeah. There was no which one he was. Just like rolling around which one the cop yeah the cop see. Then okay late in we get a car kill but to me again.
I wonder at two miles an hour yeah well it's. Bad enough that he's a cop he should know better it's also his own car killing him but we do have a possessed car killing him so once again i say was stephen king watching this at some point one of two possessions it's um yeah because it's before christine it's before he even wrote. Christine no i don't think so there was a movie made i think earlier than this called the car Yeah, it was a possessed black man. I was trying to remember how many different possessed car movies there were, but this was definitely before Christine came along, so I don't know. But once again, we get a very slow motion version of Christine killing someone.
But then the car runs over him a couple times. That's kind of fun. Yeah. That's the one thing I was just hilarious. That part was just funnier than anything.
Like, oh my God, it was just awesome. Yeah. well that's the thing i'll give this movie the you know it's it's got good kills yeah oh yeah since that's all there are it's like you're going into it for this you know for the fun of it well. And the quirkiness of how people act as they're being killed it's like so not natural so just it reminds me. Of paul rubin's death scene in buffy the vampire. Yeah it wishes it was that awesome That's the best destiny ever.
It's like the cop sticking his tongue out as he's like, it's like sliding down the windshield or whatever. Like, what? He was like licking the windshield wiper. At first I didn't understand why he was doing that. Like, how is that a natural occurrence when you're getting run over at two miles an hour?
You don't have the wherewithal to get out of the way of this car. It's a weird setup along the way. It's got, like, this midway point. Like, it's kind of slow setup in the beginning. Like, well, we get the weird movie backstory slash movie.
Could be both. Kind of is both, functionally. Kind of. So, we get that, but then it hits, like, the middle, like, 20 minutes, where it does... It does a couple...
I mean, you get one murder, I think, at that point, but... even then it's like the next two times we've got somebody that's going to get killed or thinks they're going to get killed it enters into this really long set up Like there's the girl out in the woods, the girl in the white in the beginning. Yeah. That's like 10 minutes of her running through the woods and hiding in the barn and looking for somebody and thinking she's safe and coming back. I mean, it just, it goes on for so long. To where it's, I'm kind of lost as to like really what is going on.
Is there even anybody out there chasing her at this point? Because they would have gotten bored and gone home at this point. Well, and then the same thing. Once the girl, like, we fast forward about 15 minutes, and then the girl's, like, going on that car trip to see her parents, and then her car breaks down. And then we enter into this getting out and checking the car, walking up to try to get to the house, looking around, trying to get in the house.
And it's another, like, it goes on forever. Forever. And I'm like, is this just filler moments? Like, they really, like, they didn't have anything else to come up with dialogue-wise. They're like, just walk around the house some more.
Just look for another door. That's good, yeah. Look for another door. Just look around the corner, all right? Walk a little bit.
Like... So that leads us to our, you know, our star-studded cameo from Mr. Peter Mayhew, who is, once again, they make use of him. He is. just lumbers around he's big and creepy but it gives you what is probably the best fake out in this movie because it really does set it up like here. He comes this crazy maniac.
And he's like you call for a mechanic that's like the. Viper type deal yeah the viper just hit a viper windows and go home okay so. Wow there's an odd reference yeah what's sad is I got it yeah nice if you got it you're a geek so Yeah, but it does pull that. So then at the end, he's just a mechanic that she called herself to come get her broken down car. And he doesn't die.
He actually just dies off. And yeah, he helps her and takes the car off. So yeah, he's not really a satanic mechanic as I expected him to be. It's been awesome. that's awesome yeah. But no i expected uh yeah i kind of expected a little different scene because she's the one he sort of rescues her and then like she sort of makes it out of the rest of this like so they spend this like 15 minute period of setting up her kill and there is no kill for her and that's that again from that point on the movie like sort of revels in the fake outs like you get the big scene with the non-satanic mechanic And then you get the paint can.
The paint can is a total like another like five plus minute fake out of like. There's blood leaking through the ceiling. It's just paint. More kills. And then I guess it was a floating knife that just stabbed her all over and over again.
Once again, now in the middle, at that point, we're still going along with it's a killer, it's a killer. So you're like, well, how the hell did this person, because it's. Just like stabbing. At that angle. Yeah, like everywhere.
At different angles, but then it's stabbing through her face. foot and i'm. Just like what is like what is going on and so that's yeah i get lost in that respect to where yeah is it just all supernatural is. There but by the end yeah i i guess we're gonna. Assume it's all supernatural. So if that's the case then i guess it could have just been a floating knife i know but there's like other points where they actually show A person.
Like, when the Greek gets killed, Phil the Greek gets taken out, which is a pervy dude that comes to their little club. Really pervy. Which. He's grody pervy. Like, God.
We'll jump back to that in a minute. But, yeah, when Phil the Greek gets killed, it shows, like, a close-up of, like, the killer's lips. Yeah. And, like. So where is this killer?
If it's supernatural, how is it we're seeing this mysterious killer if there is no mysterious killer? I don't know. It's like it doesn't know what it wants to be. Exactly. It's just like so everywhere.
Terror terror it's like a it's like a british director that watched a lot of giallos and was like i kind of like these i want to do something like this and then went to london and you know or wherever the hell they were they were in england so yeah it's in england just shooting random death scenes and sort of piecing it together with a basic you know string. String plot line plot. Line To sort of take you through this story, but yeah, a lot of the elements along the way just don't add up by the time you get to the end. Gosh. oh man and it ends like abruptly too it's just kind of like oh yeah it's over well i like. When we got the fill we forgot to go into the uh the club that they work at so do you want to go into the club.
Or more for it no you go there all right um i can't decide if i guess we're supposed to assume that what he had on his shirt was the name of the place Because I had to write it down to remember because it was fucking hilarious anyway because I want a shirt that says this. The bartender's wearing a shirt that says Moonshine Goat Herd. I don't know what that is. That's what it says. Moonshine Goat Herd.
I'm like, okay. So we'll assume that's the place. I don't really know, but I kind of want that shirt. This is a far cry from the slaughtered lamb. Yeah, but still, it's cool.
I want that shirt regardless. So if we're at the Moonshine Goat Herd, yeah, it's basically some tables and chairs and a bar. Now we get sort of a strip show. Not sort of. It's a full-on live nude girl.
With no stage. With no stage. In the middle of the, like if they were to move tables aside. Let's make room for this naked girl coming out. Come on now.
This naked man. Well, and then we get into this girl. And I swear to God, I thought at one point, I thought something was wagging between her legs. I thought she had junk. I'm still questioning it.
This i believe marlena you said it was the anilinic stripper um yeah yeah she's she did yeah she's got the blonde buzz cut and she's wild makeup she's yeah scary like. She's like eating she's eating the microphone like a court of the cob or licking it right. She was a whip yeah she's working a whip the whole time and then she's sometimes she is working the whip and. It's yeah it's. She makes Annie Lennox look feminine, really.
That was the scariest chick I've seen in quite a while. But she was there to be naked. I'm guessing she really just was a stripper that they found. Because you'll notice, she's the only nudity in the whole damn movie. In a movie that's very hard R, tons of kills, lots of other sort of. well and there's scantily cladness in there but i'm assuming the other actresses didn't want to get naked so they were like let's just go hire a stripper and have a strip scene so we can say.
Look we've got nudity yeah i was gonna say look we've got boobs but no it's full on naked yeah she's just naked writhing on the floor. But it's not all that great, mind you, so don't get excited. Yeah, that seems like it would be a good thing, but then when you see this girl, you'll change your mind. More than likely. Actually, there's one or two of you might like it more, but for me, I was not sold.
On her in general. Scary. I have two messages for you at the hostel. Why didn't you call me? You've got to talk.
What do you want to talk about? About that night at the house. I don't want to discuss that. You've got to tell me what happened before it's too late. Too late for what?
I don't know what you're talking about. So if you don't mind, I've got work to do. What else do we... There's so many things. Well, how about...
Okay, we cross over into the supernatural world. So then we've got the guy that kind of runs the studio there, and he's closing up shop that night, and it's time for his scene. Things just randomly, and this is where it sort of crosses the line. It's like, up until then, we've got killer doing it, killer doing it. Like, you've got, I was trying to keep track, and it's like, all the early ones are, like, pretty much just like somebody, some knife-wielding maniac comes up and stabs them and kills them.
But then it almost seems like it's kind of the Carrie aspect, where it's like, it seems like that dude is making things happen. Kind of, yeah. Especially, actually, the scene before that, when the director's shooting the bath time for Brenda gets fucking crushed by a light. By the lights. And he's flailing like...
It's burning him. It's burning him. It's not burning him. It fucking crushed his head. Like it just took out his head like a fucking donut.
Don't worry about it burning him. yeah so oh sorry i was the the the death scene of the. So then that yeah so i mean but that's sort of the first inkling we get of like the psychic thing because there's just like a light hanging over him and the rope sort of starts untying itself but the our main dude's staring at it the whole time yeah like maybe he's willing it to happen yeah but again that one's so like vague that it could kind of been well the drop just you know you know it untied itself eventually we'll do that yeah you tie a big heavy light to it sooner or later it'll fall down work its way out so it's possible that could still be a normal occurrence an accident but um yeah by the time we get to the the studio guy getting taken out Shit just starts happening.
It's flying everywhere. Like, yeah, shit's coming off the wall. Flames are exploding in the bathtub. He's being just enveloped in this film tornado. My favorite before that, though, is right.
I think it's right before the flames in the bathtub. Right when shit starts throwing itself at him, there's like a rain of spoons behind him. Is that what that was? I think so. I almost thought it was like a giant slinky unraveling.
It looked like. 400 spoons being dumped behind his head. It made no sense. And why are there spoons A and B? a bathroom or b in a movie studio that many yeah like why are there all these spoons that. Was my favorite that was confusing because it was like what is going on but yeah then he gets sucked up and there's like film reels flying around but then the entire ball of film which by the way i know what movie that is oh what If you look on IMDb, that was seven damaged copies of Saturday Night Fever.
Uh-oh. The studio actually let them have damaged copies that they had laying around. So those are all Saturday Night Fever that he's rolling around being attacked by. Sapped up in. Which I like that part.
That's cool. That's really cool. I thought he was going to catch on fire with the flaming cup. Yeah, it seemed like that. So highly flammable.
But I figured he was... I kind of liked it. It was like the blob if it were made out of celluloid. It was like kind of... eating him at that point. That was awesome.
But then he escapes, so it kind of kills that part. And then he falls down the stairs. Come on, Marlene. He's falling. Oh, yeah.
That part was. And then we get a window decapitation just to totally ruin it, which that part is pretty awesome. Yeah, but random. Again, the setups are cool. When you come to that scene, it's shot really well.
Again, it makes no sense continuity-wise because his arm was in the way. But then when you get that shot of discovering him, it's really well put together. And it zooms in the window and goes to the phone. There's moments of it that are well put together. And then in the middle of this big mixed-up mess, I don't know.
Oh i just kind of spent my wad it's just it's just random death scenes the kooky wacky fun bizarre nonsensicalness yeah it didn't make no cohesion really uh kind of like Paint-by-numbers, choose-your-own-adventure type movie style. Kind of. I don't know. That's the thing. If you like 70s slasher slash supernatural as you get into it, but the bulk of it is a slasher movie, so if you like those cheesy, low-budget slasher movies from the 70s, this looks like one of those movies.
It plays like one of those movies until you get to the weird, wacky ending. This is something that I could see on... On the wall in the background of some, like, art house. Like, everyone's just too cool for school. Like, drinking their drinks and hanging out.
And on the wall is this. Yeah. Like, just with no sound. Just completely, like, gone. Dude, why in that place?
I want to go there. Yeah, seriously. It'd be awesome. Definitely in that capacity, you know? I was somewhere once.
Speaking of that, it was, like, some weird art show. And there was this movie on the wall. And. There was, like, it was kind of like a love scene, but there was a guy in, like, gold lame speedos. Oh, wow.
And then there was a tiger. It was really weird. Wow. If someone knows what movie this is, let me know, because I just. Remember watching it and thinking, what the fuck is this?
Well, the first I found sounds like Rocky in the gold lame speedos, but there's no tiger in Rocky. There's a tiger. No, it wasn't Rocky Horror Picture Show. I've seen it enough times to know. Yeah, I know.
I knew you would know. But it's funny. Like, where else would you get Gold Lame Speedos? I don't know. Obviously somebody else did.
It was made in the 70s, but there was like a Tiger and Gold Lame Speedos. So if anyone, this, you know, you know what movie this is, let me know. Sounds like a challenge to me. Oh, man. So, yeah.
I don't know. Yeah. There's not much more I can say about this, Brian. I'm sorry. Well, that's what it is.
I think if you like those kind of movies, it's actually kind of fun. And the more I thought about it, it's actually that's what works best about it really is like that's what it was set up to be. You know, it wasn't ever meant to be some sort of, you know, really intelligently put together plot line. I mean. This was like 78 and it was made by a guy who just made these kind of horror movies.
So watching it, I'm like, this is just something you'd be like, get together with your friends, be like, hey, let's go see a movie and have fun. And that's what reading it said had listed that this made more money than any other film that was showing during that week in its UK release. So it was the big movie of the moment. It's like when Final Destination comes out now and everybody's like, hey, let's go see a stupid horror movie. I mean, this isn't any worse than the Final Destination.
When are they going to remake this one, though. Is what I'm wondering. See, you say that, now it'll happen. We just had that with, that's what, yeah, I don't think, yeah, Misty said that the other day because we joked during Deadly Friend that they were going to remake that. We found something online saying it's in the works.
I don't think it's greenlit at this point but there's somebody out there pitching a remake I. Don't think I've ever seen it oh god we'll watch it I don't even know how to begin there's robots and dead girls oh lord. But yeah, to me, that's all it is. It's just one of those kind of movies. It's just like, hey, let's go have fun and watch people get killed.
So that's kind of how this operates, if you're into that. I mean, it's definitely oddly uneven in its type of kills. As it goes on, the. The psychic phenomenon elements, it totally blows the mystery element. It's like it almost needed to pick which one it wanted to be.
Either it wants to be a giallo and it wants to have a murderer. And in the end, we're like, oh, it was the creepy old lady from the house. Or it was the man who runs the haunted amusement park. You know, have some sort of reveal at the end. But we don't get that because then it switches gears to the supernatural end.
Or it should have just been that the whole way. And we had like creepy... supernatural things going on in the beginning but yeah we get this weird mesh of the two so yeah that that makes it a very odd movie to watch but um otherwise i think it's it's relatively fun if you like cheesy horror it's yeah it's worth a viewing i don't know if i'd sit down and watch it every week i'll give. It that oh god i'll definitely give. It a viewing it's definitely uh it's fun enough to sit down with your friends and laugh at when they get the bath time for rent yes. Have you looked up Bath Time for Brenda?
Are you sure? I hope it is a movie. Well, actually, as we get into our next little development here, we might not want to see it once. The more we learn about Viv, I believe her name was. Wasn't that the redheads?
Yeah. That crazy ass bitch. But yeah, you were asking about face. She gets worse as time goes on, by the way. Roger, you were asking about the bouncer because the bouncer shows up.
He's like he looks like he's like a Terminator character from a sci fi movie. He's bald. He's got these big glasses on. He's all in black. I'm like, what movie did this guy come out of?
He totally doesn't even fit he doesn't really but i guess it was just like they're a little you know kind of a tip of the hat to this guy because he's uh his name's milton reed and he's uh he's actually been in a ton of of old horror movies he's in like blood of the vampire he's in dr fives rises again. He's in blood the vampire he's in. Captain flag he's in terror terror of the tongues he's in blood on satan's claw he's in like all these old horror movies so yeah that's that's why i guess we get that little it's another cameo of him but like interesting people of this day and age probably don't know that you know he's supposed to be a cameo this. Could have definitely been like a mystery science theater movie yeah.
It kind of was but i think we were too i was just. Dumbfounded yeah to even come up with any what oh lord so. Before we totally get out of it, we sort of got a two cents in. Not officially, because usually I just go with the emails. And if he wants to still write in, he or she, I'm not really sure actually.
But they can still write in because I got a response on Twitter. And normally I don't put too much into those. I just kind of pass that along. But this time it led to... A whole new discovery that I want to go into.
So, yeah, we did get, I guess it's time for your two cents on terror. And this was actually from Nautas on Twitter. Okay. And they got a hold of us and had some interesting comments. One was just, I've seen terror.
They refer to it as a bit silly, a clumsy mash of possession with creative deaths and slasher movies of the time. And okay for review, which we kind of agree. They say they actually prefer the same director who did Satan's Slave, which kind of also skipped a big happy ending. This one just sort of ends on a pretty grim note. Although, actually, that part's awesome.
When she gets stabbed, that shot of her flying back at the wall, that is awesome. That's great. Green light. That's fucking awesome. again there's moments in this that are genius but it's a big old mess around you. Definitely have to pay attention because they'll miss it like that.
Or there's the shot of her like when she's just swinging the axe and like they set up the shot where there's like this big lamp in the front of the shot and then she's swinging the axe over there and by the end she whips up to the front of the scene and like and knocks the lamp out right from in front of the screen so it's like it was good blocking it's like there's a lot of really creative stuff mixed into this big old mess so back to these comments so the the final one and the one that became what i think will be kind of important to where we're going here uh it says also the sole movie role of trisha walsh smith the batshit crazy youtube star they say google pineapple dance studio and her name All right, guys.
I think we're going to have to take a moment to watch some... Pineapple Dance Theater? Some Trisha Walsh. Now, let me make sure we're crediting her as the right person. I think she was Viv.
She was. Was she? Yeah, me. Because, yeah, once he said that, I had to bring up. Lord.
Can you see? Yeah. Yeah. Hi, it's Tricia again, and I'm in New York. I should be in London.
So my husband is 25 years old. and his daughter's around my age. So I signed a prenup, and he paid for the. Lawyer to do the prenup. Oh, my God. Look at her face.
He's got a thing that he can throw me out in 30 days, but he has to have grounds for divorce. So he has no grounds for a divorce, but he's still trying to throw me out of our apartment in 30 days for no reason. I don't know why. Because you're fucking crazy. Look at you.
Look at her face. Because when he dies, I get a pension. Oh, my God. This is the president of the Shukud organization. I'm an idiot.
I'm the biggest epic idiot in the world. I agree. Yes, you are. Oh, another thing. We never had sex.
He said it was because he had high. Blood pressure, and he wanted me to accept that. Then last year when we went through this, I found five eyebrows, four movies, and condoms. So maybe I should call him up and ask him, just tell him we're filming, and ask what he wants me to do with the condoms. I love the way British people say condoms.
Okay, so we're going to listen to this. What is this? How is this going to help this dumb bitch's chances of getting more money, which is what she wants. Because you're fucking crazy. Oh my god.
Oh my god. I feel bad that we're actually giving this another hit by watching it. This just seems like one of those people that I just want people to, like, forget. But there's, like, 50 of them on here. Like, this is all she does, obviously, because she has no real life.
It's like, talk about her ex-husband. Yeah, they all are her bitching about her ex-husband, except when she crosses the line. Wait a minute. She crosses the line? Well, into almost a recognizable person.
I'm tired on that. Bye. Fuck is wrong right there at some point she just started bitching at kathie lee gifford and calling her out for like her husband cheating on her and her having a sweatshop and like you name it like she went. Off so she just kind of like read these little clips from like whatever british tabloid and was like i hate you kathy lee gifford this is why. Well i don't know I don't know how it comes about that she's even in the news to be on the Today Show.
Because then I found one. Somebody pieced together the clips of what Kathie Lee said the next day after this came out. And she actually was talking about her. Like, I thought she was just fucking delusional. And, like, nobody really talks about her because they shouldn't, really.
Yeah, nobody cares. Yeah. Kathy Lee, like, made some sort of joke about, you know, setting her up at one of those, like, dating places. And she said, why. Don't they take a crack at her or something like that?
And that's a death threat in her. That's the way she understood it. Is a death threat. So she's fucking crazy. Wow.
Wow. So, yeah. There's the star of our film. Now, are you surprised that this was the only movie she was ever in? Not at all.
Bitch got Megan Foxed. Yep. As well she deserved. She deserves worse. Yeah.
Oh, so I don't know if that's a thank you or not to our friend on Twitter for introducing us to that bullshit. Why would you know about that is what I want to know. I mean, as many as are out there, I mean, I'm assuming a lot of people have viewed these because she has a lot of videos. I love it. I just like that she referred to her as batshit crazy.
Yeah. I mean, it's obvious she's got some mental problems of some sort. This is what it takes to be a YouTube star. Nothing. Nothing.
Not at all. Craziness and a lot of free time. God. Wow. oh so lord yeah compared to that uh the terror is great yeah the terror error. I just started liking this movie a lot more.
Telling you terror is an awesome movie that's the best thing she's ever been. In no really no seriously oh if you don't believe. Me yeah go look up what the hell is her. Name again no don't trisha walsh smith. Have fun not my fault you decided to google it All right, we will take a break and come back with the rest of the show.
Jesus. Oh, she's out of her fucking mind. Wookie's are the slam. Wookie's are the one. Wookie's gonna rip you like you ain't been done.

Hi, I'm Craig Fritz Rualdo, host of lovefinder.com, telling you to listen to Show Show at showshow.podomatic.com. Too many websites all in one sentence? You betcha. But Show Show is a podcast about movies for people like you who don't know what love is. Listen to Show Show every week at showshow.podomatic.com or search Show Show, all one word, in the iTunes store.
It's part of your problem, you know, you haven't seen enough movies. All of life's riddles are answered. In the movies. And now, on with the show. I tried to make things easy so I took him to a bar But Obi-Wan came up before I could get too far Now we're stuck in a garbage chute on the Death Star.
He's only got eyes for that bitch. Princess Leia, no. Working love. No working love. She's never even had another movie.
She's on like random passing TV shows over there. at best and for very short amounts of. Time yeah I mean it's ridiculous like some rich guy did marry her yeah I don't understand how I know just. Be happy that that happened she was. Kind of weird looking then. Be happy that you got to live the life for a couple of years and they kicked you to the curb because you.
Got uglier and crazier. Super fucking crazy he's trying to kick me out I don't know why I can tell you why yeah crazy bitch yeah. I can think of about a hundred reasons that i've never actually met. You no nor do i want to not really yeah she's totally killed bath time for brenda for. Me yeah i don't ever watch bath time for brenda yeah it doesn't exist i just looked it up on the internet but damn it yeah if it.
Did yeah she said that would kill it though they should it's not fun at. All they should make a real bath time for brenda Anybody listening? Yeah. Let's green light that project. Do it, do it.
Since, you know, like, apparently all the big Hollywood producers listen to this show for ideas. I think so. And all podcasts, not just this one. They keep making these horrible things we say. Every time we go, God sakes, don't remake that.
The next thing you know, green light. I feel like mentioning, anytime I mention a movie, and it's not just me, it's like anybody, anytime you mention a movie... Or like an amazement that a celebrity couple is still together or just a celebrity that you've forgotten about. Like the celebrity you've forgotten about will die. The celebrity couple will get divorced.
And that movie will be remade. Yeah. I'm pretty much on board with all these because that happens time and time again. It always happens. Yeah.
It's scary, really. Yes. The power of releasing something out into the universe. Yeah. All right.
Well, we've got feedback. Yes. About this movie? Oh, no. Well, just the Twitter feeds on that one.
But if anybody else has bothered to watch this movie and wants to come through with some more feedback, hey, send it in. We'll be glad to put it up next week or any future week. Let's hear what other people think about that thing. All right, but this week we hear from Demise on Nightmare on Elm Street and April Fool's Day. Hi, it's Demise.
I was just calling in about a couple of things. The Freddy Krueger stuff, I couldn't agree with. You guys more. It wasn't a bad movie as it was, but when I left it, I was just like, meh. I wasn't excited or thrilled by it.
And I think the Nancy character just had no charisma to her whatsoever either, so it just took a lot out of the movie. And the eerie parts weren't that eerie, and the sparks drove me crazy. When Freddy finally got to the point of screeching like he really did, you know, that long, creepy, screechy noises, all of a sudden it was switched to sparks part way through and that just kind of ruined the whole effect there was nothing eerie or creepy about him he was just there the other thing you guys were going to talk about was April Fool's Day this was actually one of my favorite movies for the longest time and I don't even remember everybody that was in it but I do remember Biff in it and I do remember the one kind of semi spiky haired guy I kind of had a crush on him for the longest time and he was just a goofball in this and I just remember it being so goofy and everybody being so silly in it, but yet it was a horror movie, but yet it wasn't a horror movie.
And I don't know, I just had a great time with it. I don't think I'll be in any rush to see the remake. I just don't see any reason to go through that. But anyway, it's an absolutely fantastic movie and it's definitely one of my top horror movies of all time. So anyway, just throwing some thoughts out there.
We'll have time. Talk to you guys later. Bye. Thank you. Thank you again, Demise.
And yeah, The only thing I came up with, and I said this in passing to Roger, but I don't know how much it came through in the episode. The only explanation I have for the sparks is it is in a dream world. So really, if you want it to, he can make fucking everything spark. So, you know, it doesn't follow any real logic as to why it would be sparking that much because it looks kind of ridiculous at some point. But, you know, we're in a dream world, so we're not really sure why there's flaming pots of goat head on the pig's face in the kitchen either.
Yeah. I guess that's the best I can come up with an answer on that one. I'm sad I had to leave before I could talk about April Fool's Day. Well, here's your chance. Go to town now.
Well, I mean, it's been too long now. You don't even remember since last week? No, because when we were talking about Geek Week, I totally forgot to mention that the reason I wasn't here last week is because I went to see fucking Walking with the Dinosaurs and it ruled. It didn't rule. It ruled.
Oh, my God. It was totally awesome. They were walking out in the aisleways and everything. No, no. Somebody said they'd had at least little ones that wandered into the aisles.
That's what I heard. Yeah. Damn. But it was really cool. I liked it.
I liked the way they were basically just like puppets that people controlled from the inside. Like all the raptors were just like people inside there. But the big like life-size like T-Rex and all those dinosaurs and stuff like that, it was like little people walking. On the floor in bicycles, on like these bicycles kind of things. Wow.
But the dinosaurs moved really naturally, like an animal would. That's pretty awesome. Because the pedals controlled the feet, and it was just like, it was amazing. That's pretty awesome. And it wasn't very long, which was kind of nice, I guess, especially if you have children.
Yeah. Which, I don't know. Have an intensive span of like five minutes or something. Mm-hmm. So how long was it total?
It was an hour. That's about good for kids. There was a. 20 minute intermission but it started at 5 and we were out of there by like 6.30. So it was maybe a little bit more than an hour.
That's pretty cool. It was really cool. Oh and a dinosaur pooped on the stage at one point. I don't know if I need that. There was this like a I guess he was like a paleontologist is the word i'm thinking he was like the narrator and stuff and you know you're going through the periods of the dinosaurs and stuff like that.
And he like dug his hand in the poop and pulled out a dung beetle. I was like what this just got x-rated. No just gross yeah scatman crothers so yeah i think we suggested that might have been where you went or you went shopping after you guys gave your little commercial for. Hot topic class were you I didn't go shopping. Oh, Lord.
So that's your take on April Fool's Day. Mm-hmm. Well, you seemed to come around a little more than Misty. Misty was not fun. I liked it at the end.
I liked it at the end. The whole movie, I was pissed because the characters were annoying. Yeah. It was just kind of like, eh. It was boring.
But I liked the end of the movie. It kind of was a shocker. Yeah. Typical Misty, just, she hated it because she hated it. Yes.
That is how Misty operates. I hate it because the people sucked. Yeah, Misty forms her opinions, and they very rarely change. She does not waver. But, yep, that is it for the feedback this week, so keep the calls and emails coming in.
Don't be shy. We'd like to hear from you. So give us a call at 502-365-5565. Or you can email us at geeksatmoviemeltdown.com. And just stop by the website for our frequent updates.
That's moviemeltdown.com. And while you're there, click on the forums link and go to our message boards at Pop Syndicate. Or go to popsyndicate.com and go to the forum sections and look for Movie Meltdown. As far as announcements, I was just thinking it's been a while since we've mentioned it, and I haven't seen much come in lately, so we should probably throw it out there. We are still always glad to receive some nice feedback on the iTunes.
We've had a few, but I think I mentioned the last few that came in. We've definitely got a lot of people on iTunes, so if you're listening there, feel free to give us some nice five-star reviews, because that always helps the show. In the iTunes viewing of that world, I think it bumps us up a little bit. If you don't have iTunes, go steal somebody else's computer and use theirs. I always forget that I can listen to these on my phone.
I've only listened to one episode, I'm sorry. Nobody else listens to it. It doesn't matter. As long as they listen. I mean, I was here, so...
I don't like to hear myself talk. I know. Most people don't listen to their own show. Sadly, I do. Every once in a while.
I used to more regularly. But even after the fact, I go back and re-listen to them. That's kind of weird. So, yes. Feel free to go to the old iTunes store and leave us some nice five-star reviews.
Just saying. It's funny that all of these are explicit, like... We say just awful things. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
I mean, to me, that's kind of the great aspect about these shows is that it's one of the last few places that, you know, you've got that freedom of speech. Like, you really can. And anybody can piece it together, and you can put it out there, and all you have to do is put explicit on it, and you're not totally being, you know, overthrown by FCC regulations, and, you know, you're not completely overrun with that stuff. Yeah. I don't know.
I think it's kind of cool, and it's one of the last few places. You can't really do that anywhere else anymore. I mean, it's completely been taken away from you in every other aspect of your life. You may not even realize. Actually, I heard a show go into that the other day of how many things that the government... doesn't regulate and how much the the private um cable companies that are running all this can kind of decide what goes out there like there there was like a concert that somebody started it was years ago and somebody was talking bad about president bush at the time and they muted it i'm like okay can you do that yeah well that was the thing and then somebody complained about that and they were like whatever it's our company and then there was another one like a guy was downloading stuff off their internet and he was downloading like stuff from the 30s.
It was like barbershop quartets or something. It's like stuff that's public domain. And they stopped him. And he was like, he really kind of followed through. He's like, why are you doing this?
It's public domain. It's my right to be able to download this. And they basically said, well, tough luck. So he went to the FCC and he was like, so what's up with that? So the FCC pursued it.
And it was like Comcast or Time Warner, one of the big ones. And they were like, so? And they were like, we're the FCC. You can't do that. Who says we can't?
So basically, they were like, fuck you to the FCC. And I was just like, how the hell do you get away with that in this day and age? And they looked into it. There are no laws that say what the companies that own that can and can't do with what's on their programming. So they're actually trying to get stuff set up so that, I mean, that some sort of government regulations as to you can't, like, omit things that people say for, you know, no specific reason other than you don't agree with it.
Or you can't, you know, completely block somebody just because you don't like it. Because they were talking about all the ways that they can also use that to their advantage, like... internet speeds and stuff like that, that there are no regulations saying that, well, you want us to be able to, uh, get you a link that goes straight to your website. You got to pay us extra. You know, there's, there's nothing that says that they can't do basically extortion as time goes on. I mean, there's, it's still such a new medium that there's like no laws in place to keep people from just running amok and do whatever the fuck they want.
And when you're Comcast and Time Warner, you've got enough money, you can do whatever you want. So yeah, I thought that was kind of interesting. I think it's like, see, the internet.com or something is like trying to, you can email your Congressman and find some way to stop them from doing this. I don't, yeah, I don't really get behind crazy political bullshit, but that one affected us in a way that I was like, you know, people should probably know about that because it's not on the laws anywhere and we're going to get screwed over and it's going to be too late to do anything further down the line. So Hey, go find out about it if you're interested.
I'm looking at all these on iTunes and I'm like, was I here for this one? I don't remember this. Your memory is shot. It's like doing a show with Jay here. I know.
Wow. Okay, kids, get out your decoder bins. Could tell that tonight's message was really important. It is time for the Movie Meltdown Secret to Circle reveal of the next two features. And they are...
Next week's feature is. Live in Fear of Heart Beeps. Heart bleeps? Or beeps? Beeps.
Okay, beeps. Heart beeps. Robot family. Is this a cartoon? No.
Live action. No. You just prepare yourself. It's... Early 80s?
81? Yeah. 82 maybe? Yeah. Is it going to be like Mac and Me, but with robots?
No. This is way weirder as far as I can remember, and I don't remember much, but I remember seeing it on cable as a kid, and it's just weird. It's just weird. Something I remember, yeah, I saw it when I was a child also, and it was bizarre. It affected me somehow.
Yes. In a weird way. Yeah. What was with robots in the 80s? Remember that show, Small Wonder?
Yes. I hated that show. Everyone hated that show. I loved that show as a kid, but now it's awful. It was terrible.
Even at the time, I was at least old enough to know, this is a horribly made show. I was like, who's going to drown this robot girl? I just had dreams about hitting her with a sledgehammer and just crushing her. Crushing her but that was like once again i was alone in that one because so many kids that grew up watching that think it's great and i'm just like i hated that even as a kid i don't get it i. Just i think i just grew up like horribly obsessed with robots and i mean robots are cool i mean i definitely have gotten over it but i remember i was like really obsessed with robots for a while robots are.
Awesome but that show not so awesome okay what's the second the second one uh speaking of things we saw as as a child and completely uh revolutionized our world We're going to watch The Dark Crystal. Nice. Fizz gig. Fizz gig. Oh, Lord.
We're also going to feature an interview with Bill Diamond, who actually worked on The Dark Crystal. That's amazing. He worked with Jim Henson. He worked on The Muppet Show, worked on The Dark Crystal. I was still in awe of that as I sat there.
It was pretty amazing. I need to find Muppet Babies on DVD. I don't know if it's legally on DVD. I know. But good luck to you.
I'm sure it's out there. Why don't they put all the most awesome cartoons on there? That one I can probably tell you why. Because they worked in tons of video clips and music and stuff that I'm sure they don't have the rights to. Yeah.
Now, a lot of it was Lucas stuff. So, I mean, he was in bed with them. And so, at the time, they had the rights to use a lot of that Star Wars stuff that they kept putting in. Yeah. But, I mean, every show was like a little knockoff of something else, and they actually ran video clips of stuff.
So I'm pretty sure the licensing is why that one isn't and possibly will never be on DVD legally. I know. That really pisses me off. That really makes me angry. Like, all the favorite shows that I had growing up with, MainTube, of course, we talked about this, was the Beetlejuice cartoon.
Uh-huh. And the muppet babies. They're both awesome beetlejuice is amazing like both of them are good but beetlejuice was another one of those that like i just latched on to it yeah i thought it was the best i mean it was pretty great shaped me you know i'm telling you but but again licensing so blame lawyers. Another one i watched but i don't really think it affected me as much but i just remember watching this as a kid and loving it was tiny toons. No, Tiny Toons was great also.
I was way more Animaniacs. I didn't get into Tiny Toons. Oh, Tiny Toons and Animaniacs. I've never seen Tiny Toons on DVD either. No.
Is there a licensing problem, too? Who knows? I'm not sure. No, but I don't know if they had enough following. I mean, it was.
It took them years before Animaniacs boxed sets. Yeah, I've seen Animaniacs. I've even seen Freakazoid, which nobody gives a shit about that show. Yeah, exactly. I don't get that one either, but who knows?
Whatever. All right, anything else we need to pass along this week? I'm really sad about them trying to find a new band for the free credit report commercials. Oh, God. I kind of think everyone should get together and protest because, yeah.
Maybe I'm the only person in the world, but really the Renaissance song was pure gold. It was a magical, magical commercial, and now they're going to find some new band the way they presented it on that commercial earlier. So, yeah, Marlene is in mourning. I mean, really. If if they played shows i might be the only one there i might be the male to the.
Flight they probably do play shows i think they should at this point they should totally market on this little turn of events here and like go off go rogue and start doing their own show i might. Paint a picture of all of. Them it'll end up on their album cover crazy town crazy town that. Was a bell reference. So on our crazy music note there I guess we can go out and as far as I know Peter Mayhew has never recorded any rockin' songs sadly So he can't go out on his own music, but his co-star in terror, Trisha Walsh, did.
Trisha Walsh has definitely had quite a recording career. Whether or not anybody else wants her to doesn't seem to stop her. So I guess we can wrap up the wonderful Wookiee Fest here and our terror discussion with some Trisha Walsh and singing a very appropriate song called I'm Going Bonkers. Seriously, people. Already there, bitch.
She's loopy as hell. Uh-huh. Otherwise, that about does it. We will return next week. Same geek time, same geek feed.
Thanks for listening. Thanks, guys. Thanks. Bye. I want her to die.
I know. She's just a waste of space. Celebration die. I'm going bonkers. Last night he was here and I was a fool.
I could have checked the moon had I owned a swimming pool. I threw my best lines at him but he would not bite. Perhaps a lace trick may have helped my pride. I'm going bonkers. I'm going bonkers.
Fantasy is easy, yeah. Fantasy is pain. But this guy Johnny. Gives me bondage of the brain. I'm going bonkers.
I'm going bonkers When. We mess around, this and that, talk about my health I'm impressed you did that, my God, I'm working. Well Then the lights dim down and Johnny starts. To play Then he says he has a headache, how can he. Treat me this way?
I'm going bonkers I'm going. Bonkers All my dreams are squashed in two Daniel Steele. Where are you? I need romance, can't you see? Tied in rubber.
I'm stuck here I'm. Going bonkers I'm going. Bonkers Johnny, you look great! What do you mean? What do you think of me, veteran?
Dungeon? Oh, right, it's a dungeon. Hey, we've got some looking. It's time we had sex, Johnny. Take off your jacket.
