The following feature has been rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America. It is intended for mature audiences and parental discretion is advised. It's showtime, folks! Hi, this is Captain Mary Stewart, and you're listening to Movie Meltdown. It's time for Sofa Theater.
And now, direct from his worldwide tour, we proudly present the. One and only Leonard Catskill. Right here, right here. Good evening, ladies and germs. It's great to be here.
Of course, at my age, it's great to be anywhere. But seriously, folks, I'm here to tell you about this new movie. It's called Hot Beeps, and it's about me and my pals. Here's Valtown. I don't want to say he's dim-witted, but he makes an electric toothbrush look like a genius.
This is Aquacom. She was Popular Mechanics Playmate of the Month for June 1994. Get a load of those components. Wowie, wow. Oh.
And then there's Philco. He's a great kid. But he had no sense of humor until he met me. Now the problem is, we're all being chased by this overgrown squad car named Crime Buster. Don't get excited.
Don't get excited. Remain stationary for a computer check. He's a cross between Darth Vader and a Sherman tank. I've heard of party crashes, but this is ridiculous. But believe me, folks, this movie's got a lot going for it.
There's action, adventure, romance, raccoons, even people. Hey, kid, behave yourself. Oh, yeah, and I'm in the movie, too. But seriously, folks, don't forget to see Universal's new movie, Heartbeats, and it's coming for you-know-when. And speaking of Christmas, Andy Kaufman, Bernadette Peters in Heartbeats, coming this Christmas.
It's holiday entertainment for everyone. I am a dancer, but she. Welcome to Movie Meltdown Sofa Theater. Once again, I am Brian. This is Roger.
I'm Joni. I'm Eddie Price. I like to party. follow that up oh god. Marlena that's all she does not like to party she's partying right now. They were trying to decide if they had fun activities to go with their name i.
Have a lot unusually large collection of polka. Records that's an interesting factoid i'll give you. That moving on this week's sofa theater feature is heart beeps beep the year is 1981 The world is a weird place. Director Alan Arkish. The plot, and again, this is from IMDb, and usually they're badly worded, so don't blame me for this.
Val and Aqua are two household servant robots who start feeling emotions for each other. After falling in love, they decide to escape from their servitude and attempt to start a family of their own. I disagree with a lot of that, but. At all. So, yeah, after that stupid plot line.
Spoiler alert, because, yeah, I don't really know what to ruin with this, but we probably will. Spoiler alert in general. So if you weren't scarred by this as a child, you know, go take it upon yourself to inflict it upon you now and see how you feel about it. Because, I don't know, it's very different watching it as an adult. I was slightly scarred when I was a child, only because of, like, the themes that, you know, you're watching... robots dealing with human emotions or whatever, and it came to the point of them shutting down or running.
Out of power. And, yeah, as a kid, it really messed me up. It's kind of heavy. Because it does enter into a lot of really weird areas if you want to stop and think about it. And really, when you're a kid, you kind of stop and think about it more.
Like, I'm looking at it now, and people are just like, whatever, no big deal. But as a kid, that shit kind of, like, hits you. It's kind of these big themes really are big themes when you're a little kid. It didn't really strike me that way because I think, like, I have things that run on batteries that die all the time. I just plug them into the wall.
But they still die. So within that, you know, that, and again, there's no way to assume that they'll come back to the same. I've had many things die and they're just gone. And I never have that functional. Yeah.
Well that too, but sometimes they're just never functional again. So, you know, in a way it is very much, you know, centered around that. So, I don't know. Where all do we want to begin on this one? I like how it starts out with, what is it, Robobot?
Like Crimebot? Crimebuster Deluxe. Crimebuster Deluxe. My name is Crimebuster 00719. I'm a cop.
My crime-fighting computer contains one million microchips, thousands of circuits, and a couple of loose wires. You might pay. Is this Tourette's non... Well, it doesn't have Tourette's because it doesn't cuss. It just doesn't stop speaking.
And he's very violent. It's very violent and patriotic, apparently. I like that guy. Yeah, and he's awesome. He's like a skinhead robot.
No offense, skinheads. No, he's not. I never got skinhead, but it's like this all-terrain tracked. Vehicle, multi-weapon spewing, like. police bot that has a really jacked up sense of the law. I guess right and wrong yeah.
Earnest goes to the future yes yeah he thinks he's doing the right thing but he's not no not at. All he is in his own little robotic mind he's saving everyone. I thought that was cool how it started out with like him just trouncing through the woods or whatever blowing crap up blowing shit up which is awesome poor bunny I like. This movie from the beginning because it opened with an explosion. Scene yeah See?
That's always good. We like explosions. Just in general. People. And heavily armed off-road vehicles that speak and have a sinister mind of their own.
Michael Bay don't listen to this part. We don't want any more explosions. Well, he probably watched this too. He'd have dumped trillions and trillions of dollars into this movie and it just would have been out of control if he had had. I don't know, license.
And that's what's sad is it would have been like... You think of this would be ridiculous enough, but think of Michael Bay. Like, you would lose any sense of story at all. You would just be crying about exploding shit for two hours. Yeah, they'd be in the city, and there'd just be, like, devastation.
Skyscrapers are collapsing. You'd just see flashes of Andy Kaufman's face every five minutes. And a big patriotic shot of the flag. Yeah. See, that's weird.
In slow-mo. What, Bernadette Peters and Andy Kaufman are the main stars. Yep. Which... I don't remember really Andy Kaufman ever being in a movie that I've watched.
Well, that's the thing. Like, I remember Taxi. Yeah, yeah. I mean, this is probably the least weird character he ever did. Like, everything he does is a weird character.
So I don't know how into Andy Kaufman anybody was. Yeah. But, I mean, did anybody, like, really get into his comedy? I. Liked him, kind of, but depending on what comedy it was.
I never got the Mighty Mouse singing thing. That was most of his comedy, though, really. I didn't get that. I thought the wrestling gig stuff was hilarious. But, yeah, I don't know.
He always did voices, and that's funny. Just people doing voices is always funny. Everything, as you watch his comedy, whether or not it's comedy is questionable. It's almost performance art on many levels. It's another one of those that's kind of like, It only is comedy if it hits you just right and you think it's, you know, oh, this is great.
But there's a lot of people that just... And I'm sure, you know, he's. In New York doing all this stand-up for years and people were probably just sitting there like, what the hell am I watching? Thank God there were a lot of drugs in New York. Yes.
That's true. It's definitely. 70s New York, so that's probably, yeah. Well, the casting, it's like. We have a movie about robots that learn how to feel and, you know, have adventures, whatever.
Who are we going to cast for the lead? Andy Kaufman, obviously, of course. Like, how bizarre casting is that? This movie was surprising because, I mean, I've actually got, like, the list in front of me right here. Yeah, it's amazing the people that are in it.
Andy Kaufman, Bernadette Peters, Randy Quaid. Yeah, Randy Quaid was young as hell. Christopher Guest. Christopher Guest. For like two seconds.
You don't even notice. Yeah, because he's kind of weird looking. And then Mary Warnoff and Paul Bartel. Paul Bartel. Who actually jumped over from the...
Well, from every movie. I mean, they are, like, they have, it's like a running joke in, like, all of these. There was this whole circle of people making movies at this time, a lot of. Them for Roger Corman and with Paul Bartel, and they turn up as sort of these same characters in, like, movie after movie. And even if it's not these characters, they always sort of pair them together or.
They always stick them in these movies together, and it was just sort of this running gag. They had with all of these. That's what it felt like. It felt like a Roger Corman movie. It probably should.
I was looking through here. Alan Arkish, the director, directed Rock and Roll High School. He's obviously very affiliated in their little circle there. It's kind of weird that he started off doing that kind of stuff. He does Hollywood Boulevard and Death Sports.
He's doing these very drive-in theater, you know, Roger Corman kind of movies. But then as you go on, I mean, he's still working now. He's doing episodes of Heroes. up until they got canceled but you know oh yeah it's gone now they finally gave up on it like america did three years. Ago yeah after the first season. So but yeah i mean he's still working now and it's funny he switched into like a ton of tv he did a lot of just regular tv episodes of you know real you know ali mcbeal and like normal shows but it's so bizarre yeah to imagine it was.
It's not an old show. He's doing an episode of Dawson's Creek after Rock and Roll High School and then this movie. It's a weird transition over the years. That's an eclectic mix. That is very eclectic.
I wish that in this one, of course, a lot of movies turn into this where I just wish there was more. Always hear me say it. I wish there was more because there's a good story in here, but as it goes along, and I'm not really bagging on the movie because I liked it, but just as far as it's kind of like it moves quick. It touches on things, and it doesn't really expound upon them. It moves on.
It's really short, too. Yeah, and it's really short. It's like an hour and 20 minutes. The movie ends with a freaking combat robot, whatever. What is it?
Crime Buster Deluxe. Crime Buster Deluxe rolling off into the night, you know, blowing stuff up, looking for the perpetrators. Being a badass. Yeah. And how they can.
Still narrating. Yeah, still narrating. Exactly. Because he's awesome. And it's kind of like, okay.
It almost. They thought they. Those are the memories. Yeah, they thought they erased it twice, but I just... I played dumb.
I played dumb. Like, you know, that's cool for any robot to say. I mean, come on. Oh, well, that's the bookends of the movie. We start off with him rolling out, blowing shit up, and we leave with him blowing shit up.
Exactly. Because Prime Buster's awesome. God bless America. My kind of movie. You know, I just wish that there was more to, like, you know, kind of flesh it out so it didn't seem so quick to quick to quick the end.
It's funny looking at just the basic... Story of what's going on. I could almost see, and it's weird now that they've made a movie that sort of falls into this category, but I almost see this as, if I didn't know this movie existed, as being like an animated kids movie. I could almost see this very much being something that Disney would have taken on before. While he touches on all of these same ideas, it just does it in a much more mature and better way.
I think all robot movies kind of have the same themes. I like how this one touched on parenting. Because they were talking about parenting. Which, that's cool. And really no other robot movie has kind of touched on that.
It's always been about love and. Of course. robots falling in love is awesome because it makes no sense. But I love that. I love that as a theme. But I thought that the parenting thing was really cool.
There's so much information I want you to have. So many new parts that I do not possess. You know, you're the first robot I ever built and programmed. And I want you to know that in spite of problems, you have been performing very well. You are extremely efficient.
The parenting thing was like really cool because they build baby robot. Philco. Philco. Phil, for short. And Phil was awesome.
Phil was fucking awesome. Phil is pretty awesome. Yeah, I love his eyes and how he laughs at joke box jokes or whatever. His laugh is awesome. It is awesome.
The mannequin with the eyes. Yeah, he gets scared. You know, he's acting like a kid, which is awesome. And they're like, oh, should we upgrade him so that he has better self-preservation? And so that he can, like, kind of grow on his own.
You know, that stuff is cool. And, you know, we want to send him off to have something important to do in life. Yeah. And not have a life of servitude. Yeah.
You want something better for your children. Or not be a pot-smoking robot burnout. Like, you know. I missed that scene. But, yeah, what parent doesn't say that?
Yeah, exactly. Oh but yeah i think vilco is really good they do a good job with him at like because i mean he's the most basic of them but to me they do almost a better job with him with like making you feel yeah with his emotions and what he's doing and what he's thinking and i think they do a good job sort of mimicking you know the human behavior that that's I don't know. It was almost lacking in the other robots, really. The animatronics for him were really good. Yeah, definitely.
Especially for 81. Yeah, because this was way before Short Circuit. Oh, yeah. This was like four years? So it came out in 86?
85, 86, yeah. So it was still. But it definitely, I mean, he's got that Johnny Five look before Johnny Five. He had a Swiss arm arm. Yeah.
Like, that was awesome. They even made a little cross for the Swiss Army arm. It was great. That does kick ass. And then he had a shammy hand, which is awesome.
Who doesn't need a shammy hand? He could be one of those robots that's like, wash windows. So that could be his function. Yeah. I mean, why do you need a function if you have a fucking Swiss Army knife for an arm?
Swiss Army arm? Yeah, Swiss Army arm. That's your function. Sounds good to me. Yeah.
Oh, Lord. I think. Boy Scout body. Which one? Boy Scout body.
Boy Scout body. He was a Eagle Scout. He had the hat and everything. Yeah. And him throwing a tantrum for what he wanted.
The parents are like, he doesn't need that. Why should we give him something he doesn't need? That doesn't make sense. Meanwhile, he's like flipping out and flames are shooting out of his head. Because he wants it, he wants it, he wants it.
And he gets it because laughing bot or whatever. Well, that's what I think is kind of cool that they do. Because it would be really easy to just do the robots in love and do the little two robot thing. And even when they enter into the parenting, that's an interesting little thing that they throw in the mix. But adding the other robot who becomes like the grandpa.
The grandfather, yeah. I was thinking cool uncle. Oh, yeah. well I was thinking the grandpa because he's just like he's in the he's in the store he's throwing a fit he wants the toy he wants you know whatever and their parents are like no you don't need that quit asking for things you don't need and as they're talking about it and who gives it to him grandpa spoils him and gives it to him so it's it definitely had that and as they go on it's like he doesn't walk so he's kind of in a wheelchair type yeah he kind of he's the old guy you know he does seem like the weathered old comedian that he's supposed to be. But um the drunk uncle too yeah that too. You know a little bit of that but yeah it depends on what kind of family it is But, yeah, they do spend a lot of time with those two and have the two of them sort of developing this relationship.
And then they do have, like, all this time of him, you know, getting close to him. And it sort of pays off in the end. Yeah. One thing I think this movie is missing was they didn't say the title of the movie. In the movie.
No. We hear beeping. Yeah. The heart beeps. But never were they, like...
What is that? I don't know. It sounds maybe like my heartbeat. That is my heartbeats for you, my dear. Yeah.
Yeah. You're crazy. You're some kind of lethal weapon. That's awesome. How are we supposed to scream when we hear the name and cheer?
Yeah, just say the fucking name. We said it. I always think that's fun in movies. I do, too. It's my favorite part of any movie.
Except you're in trouble when the name of the movie is, like, the name of the main character, because then you're screaming every 15 seconds. You're like, when does that happen? Like Braveheart? But he never says Braveheart. Austin Powers.
Unless it was Austin Powers. Hancock. Hancock, yeah. Oh. What about uh i was thinking octopus that's just because we like to make those references yeah exactly.
It never was a bond girl the focus of the name of a bond movie like the next bond adventure come on you know that would come out awesome but uh goonies is one of my favorite too which is on today or whatever it's like we're. Goonies it's like yes you are that's the name of the movie you must be because it's the name of this movie if you weren't there'd be. A huge plot hole i always just think that's confused yeah the that's the thing this this movie sort of came out and sort of flew under the radar like i don't remember it being a big deal but aside from i mean the main two actors are sort of you know names at the time but they weren't like super celebrities but Let's talk about the rest of the people involved in this movie.
The music's done by John Williams. That's huge, even at the time. I mean, he was the biggest name in composing. as he still pretty much is so i mean they had him involved you've got stan winston doing the makeup. Effects which were good which makeup effects were awesome. I mean yeah these are like you know a-list people they're rolling in to do this what is essentially whatever does a cheap b movie i mean it's and not really a huge budget otherwise i mean to look at it it's not spectacular i mean.
It's it's on dvd like it is on. Dvd but just recently i think it's been i think it had been out of print for a long time yeah i mean no one cared because nobody cared i mean it was not like it was a huge hit but it was one of those that like kids latched on to because even this week like throwing it out there i had a lot of people that were just like oh yeah i remember that and like really it locked itself into a lot of people's brains and they were just like. What the hell was going on with them? I think I remember seeing it with my folks in the theater when I was a young one. But definitely after that, it was gone.
I don't remember it coming out really on VHS. I don't really remember seeing it ever again since until tonight. I remember originally it was on VHS. I think I saw it on cable, as I saw a million things I didn't need to be seeing as I grew up. But this one was one that was.
Just on all the time, and I think I remember watching it repeatedly as a kid, and it did kind of stick in there. But, yeah, it's weird how much, I mean, they had... Then you get into the other weird people involved that don't even make sense. You've got, um... Okay, you've got.
Doing the jokes, it's not even like they got him to do the voice. They bought the material of Henny Youngman, which. Henny Youngman. Oh, he didn't do the voice? No, he didn't do the voice.
The voice is somebody entirely different, but they bought just all the material. It's joke material, which were the low-level jokes. The level one jokes. He saved power to tell low. The low-grade quality of jokes, which most of them were very low-grade.
Oh, God. They weren't even, like... I just flew in from L.A. and boy are my arms tired quality. Yeah, they were bad. There were one or two good ones in there.
I'll give you that. Let me giggle. The knock-knock one was good. Well, good evening, ladies and germs. It's certainly good to be back here in the mountains.
My agent always said my act belongs outdoors. Speaking of animals, I saw a Volkswagen drive by with a giraffe sticking out of the window. Cop says, watch with the giraffe. Guy says, I'm taking him to the zoo. Next day, guy drives by again with the giraffe.
Cops will say, I thought you took him to the zoo. Guy says, yeah, he liked it so much, now I'm taking him to Disneyland. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen. You've been a hell of an audience. If you liked the act, my name is Caskill.
If you didn't, I'm Milton Boyle. Applause, applause. Yeah, knock-knock one. Which was the knock-knock one, wasn't it? Oh, yeah, that's right.
I don't even remember how that went. He sang a song to him, basically. Once again, they're bonding, and he actually, you know, like a family. He's, like, growing attached to him. So it's weird that this is all going on with robots.
I wish that they'd played that up more, actually. Like, I almost expected... At least 45 minutes longer. Yeah, definitely. Like, I could see the.
Robo 9000. Which one? The cop? The cop. Why can I not remember his name?
Crime Buster Deluxe. Crime Buster Deluxe. I need to write this down. No, I think I'm fine. Not.
But I think Crime Buster Deluxe, I was almost ready to see him decimate one of them. And then maybe they could go on a pillage to rebuild them or whatever. Like hit them back. and you know all the. Well i mean there's very there's very little story anyway i mean it's just that's why it reminded me kind of almost of like a disney movie from back in the day because it's like they're usually pretty basic stories and you just follow that one train of thought and they don't you know veer off and that's all this is it's like hey let's go gather data over there yeah and they go over there and then eventually the story wraps up and they come back so. That was one thing i meant to bring up like what Maybe I'm like zoned out, but what caused them to decide to go gather data in the forest?
Basically, the sunset or whatever was kind of like, it's beautiful. And then a storm happens and they hold hands. And then they like back off. And then the next day, Andy Kaufman robot is like, I've been studying the trees, and I want to learn more. So you want to go over there with me?
And she's like, yep. And they're like, Jokebot, you want to go over there with us? And he's like, yuck-a-yuck-a. And they're like, I guess that's a yes. So they all go.
I like the mild sexual innuendos between the two robots. I don't know what you're talking about. Yeah, well, never. The information. I can't remember what exactly she said.
My pleasures. The pleasure. What was it? Sensor is overloading now. Yeah, something like this.
I think that was in reference to the junkyard. Oh, yeah. They were really excited by the junkyard. They were getting close to each other. Yeah, that's when the row boner come in.
When their heart bleeps, beeps, start going faster and faster, like when they get closer to each other or whatever. I need to get that exact quote down so I can use it in my daily life. Which one? Something about pleasure center overload. My pleasure center is getting excited.
Or something like that. It has strange impulses. Yes. Strong feelings. Incredible impulses are being sent to my pleasure center, which is being overloaded with data.
I mean... sure use that see how it goes yeah he'll be gone by the time you finish it but wait i'm still throwing out my line hold on at least let me finish yeah i don't have a hard. Enough time making friends i'm gonna throw out really ridiculously obscure. Obscure lines from obscure movies that nobody cares about See, that's the thing. You'll find the one other person that's like... Oh, but he will not be the one.
Dude, heartbeats? Yeah! Go ahead. I have full-size mannequins of all of them in my house. I eat dinner with them every night.
You want to come over? And then all of a sudden it's... I think that's my phone. Does it smell like chlorophyll? Yeah.
I use that one a lot. That's awesome. Oh wait, that's not a pickup line, is it? That's a take-home line. That's a take-home line.
Whatever works. I don't know what you're talking about. That's uncalled for. So, yeah, I don't know. And the weirdest addition to this lineup of people involved is the voice.
Of the baby robot. Did you see who that was? No, I didn't. Which, first of all, I don't even remember a voice being involved. It was a lot of beeping and noises.
I didn't see, but tell me that it's not.... What megatron's voice no then they jerry garcia yeah they credited jerry garcia and. Really it was what and bleed yeah i. Was like did he actually do something or did you guys just like. That jerry garcia because that could be a common name maybe.
No it is it's credited as yeah Of the Grateful Dead. That's weird. And I was just like, whoa. That was hard. How stoned do you think he was?
Yeah, really. He's like, boot beat, man. You know. At the end, he was like, dude, I think I see robots. And we were like, no, really.
There's robots in here. It's okay, Jerry. Him and Andy Kaufman are in the back. Oh, God. And he's in full robot-like garb.
And he never eats drugs. I don't know what you're talking about. Freaking Jerry Garcia out. Dude, lay off. Awesome.
Stop it. That's weird. What are you saying about Megatron? Oh, because, God, what's his name? Crime Buster Deluxe?
No, no, no. I used to know the voice of Megatron. He voiced Megatron. Megatron and then Unico from Dungeons and Dragons. Really, you're going to go from the baddest voice ever.
To non-slavic, shitty unicorn baby? I was trying to figure out which. Oh, and we have Dick Miller, of course. Who's that? Dick Miller's in every movie.
Who is he? The watchman that was sitting there playing cards with him. Oh yeah yeah i mean the snowplow driver in gremlins yeah okay yeah kentucky everybody knows yeah it's. A kentucky harvester so yeah he's i mean that again is another one of those running jokes that just his character being in there is the joke it's just like he and again i think they even call him and he's not credited as it but i think they call him by that same name Then he is in every movie. Like, he plays the same guy, more or less.
That's pretty cool. So, yeah, it's funny that this is part of that little circle of movies that just continually throw these people in. See, inside jokes to the normal people, like, you know, stuff with people that you know. Hey, hey, remember that? But in Hollywood, it's like you're a. inside joke character in a movie that's been in other movies.
I guess that's an awesome paycheck, right? From the inside joke character. I mean, it's just awesome like the Paul Bartel one. I mean, he's awesome in and of himself. He is like a director that did... amazing cool like you know he's the one that did um lust in the dust he's the one that did uh my favorite movie ever death race 2000 so it's like i need to like keep tracking down everything that he did because but it's just funny that he just randomly like walks through a scene here and that's you know that's that's the diane that's the joke So, yeah, it's the weirdest conglomeration of people in a movie.
It really didn't make a mark anywhere. No. No, I mean, really, it just comes down to... It wasn't even a beep on the radar. Ah, burn.
Drink more beer. Burn it now. So. I mean, really, it just comes down to almost those main two performances. I mean, that becomes, you know, a good portion of the movie, which, I don't know.
What are your thoughts on the two actors? I really feel like Bernadette Peters needed to be in more movies because I loved her so much. She was so adorable. Her voice is awesome. Like, the most adorable person on the face of the earth.
Ever. The Jerk is a phenomenal movie. Especially to be a comedy because comedies usually aren't that great and get no respect. So that one is amazing especially for its time. I just like her.
She was in a made for TV Fox movie I think. She was in a Tom Cruise. I can't remember which one it was. It was maybe Odysseus. Probably.
I mean, now she's huge on Broadway now. Like, she's one of the biggest names on Broadway. Because she's got that voice, like, singing voice. I know she sings, like, really well. And the coolest fact of all, she was on The Animaniacs.
Was she? Yeah, she was Rita. Yeah. That's right. I really wanted her to play Mrs.
Lovett. Yeah. Yeah. Sweeney Todd. That would have been awesome.
She would have been perfect. Mostly because nobody wants to see Hello, Mama. I used to love her back. In the day like Lady Jane, but now she's just... It's overplayed at this point.
Leave her out. She's the same person. I know. Yeah. And her forehead is massive.
Well, that too. I think they need a song and dance. Number? Really? Yeah.
I think it's got to have a Disney movie feel. If there's just been a little song. I agree. I'm all for movies with songs. I could have seen it be a musical.
They had a musical interlude. We got the girl from Emojima. Yeah. As Crimebot Deluxe Buster 2000, whatever his name is. As he's busting them, he gives.
Them some nice elevator music. Wait for the police to show up. Bye. Please enjoy some musical whatever. He's not a...
Yeah, they were a shrub. He's a shrub. He's a shrub. That was cute. I mean, it's sad how much, how simple, yeah, this stuff is.
I mean, it is like so like basic dorky level humor, but at the same time, it kind of works. Like there's moments you're like, oh, that was funny. He's a tree. I get it. You know, I mean.
It's not the most sophisticated humor, but then it sort of works. On a level? I don't know. But yeah, that's definitely, like you say, it's like seeing a four children's type movie. It totally kind of does.
But I think that their performances were good, but I think we could have gotten more out of them if it was longer. If there was more meat to the substance. I definitely think they and cast characters could have been fleshed out better. And they could have just had more to do. They were walking.
That's the entire movie. It's like the two towers. But anyway. Bam! Nice, nice.
Aside from the whatever Robobot. Crime Buster Deluxe 9000. I mean, they didn't really have too much conflict because, I mean, people were looking for them and they sort of made that a conflict. But it was Randy Quaid. But it was like, we're in a helicopter.
They were looking for them to hurt them. They were just going to take them back. And at the end, they went back to their home anyway. And this is where we learn nothing from the Wraith. It's that Randy Quaid can't find a damn thing.
He's the worst at looking for anybody. But you could tell this was before the whole Jerry Bruckheimer got into it because in the early 90s, They would have sent out task force to track these things down or whatever. The Crime Buster 9 million would have had Gatling guns and would have like decimated the landscape. Angry black man in charge. Probably.
Yes. Yeah. So it's kind of funny because it's also a sign of the times. Like this is a. Kind of antiseptic type movie.
I mean, it's so simple. It's so simple that I can almost see it being G-rated. I mean, did they say, like... They throw in, like... They have.
The sexual innuendo, I guess. Even that. Even that's pretty subtle. In his quote of the guy yelling at him at the beginning, he says, ass. Maybe that's a PG right there.
I don't know. I think they say that in, like, Dora the Explorer. Shrek's probably PG. But, I mean, it doesn't surprise me. I mean, it is very...
I mean, it's something you could show to anybody. But, again, at the same time, it has that weird effect. Like, I remember, you. Know, like I said, as a kid, like, it really made me sad when they were... When the joke bought 9,000 or whatever.
I don't know why they're all 9,000. But after when he exchanged his power source for... that was sweet yeah like i thought that was like awesome when i was a kid like but no because he's gonna die after you do that like i still oh my god i can mess with me. Actually now i think it was more impressive like i was watching it going this is like i mean again for me well yeah for a silly movie like i started to get sad when it looked like they were just gonna leave him out there yeah seriously he's just gonna sit there and rust. Yeah he's gonna wander around the wilderness but then. Like two seconds later randy quaid and his buddy show up and they're like oh just load him up.
Yeah but yeah it does have that like the heavier. Themes of like he's you know sacrificing. Himself for the one that he loves like that's that's huge you know that's to be thrown in this weird, simple little movie about robots. Yeah, for robots to do that, who don't and shouldn't be able to feel, that's a cool theme, and that's something cool going down right there. Yeah.
It was awesome. I kind of feel like children's movies need to have quasi-adult themes anyway. Exactly. They need to be confronted with heavy stuff like that. Everything is so soft and non-threatening nowadays.
Back to Iron Giant. Right. Iron Giant's awesome. Movies about robots, if you have children, way of life. Definitely.
Life lessons. Robots. Robots. Robots. It's a whole different thing.
I just don't feel like I don't feel like kids learn anything from Barney and things like that. Lessons about friendship. Who gives a fuck about that? Everybody knows about friendship. Everyone has friends.
Those are things you're supposed. To learn on your own. Yeah, exactly. Well, I mean, it works for the first couple of years. But once they hit a point, I mean, you need to start.
Throwing a little reality at them. I think it works when kids reach their spitting and biting phase. Then it's time to show them a little horror in the world. Exactly. Put them in their damn place.
It's not going to kill them. It'll only make them stronger or scar them for life, and they'll never come out of their shell or do anything. Even if it scars them for life. Sometimes those are scars you need. Sometimes that's how you learn to function.
We've all been scarred in one way or another when we were a child because of that situation or that movie maybe we shouldn't have seen. But stuff like that hasn't killed any of us. Maybe jaded, sure, but that's just personality building. I wouldn't be this great person I am today if I hadn't seen such jaded people. Jaded movies that I saw when I was younger.
Thank you very much for that, by the way. I don't think simple kids' movies really changed me in any way when I was little, but It, the movie It. Well, yeah. Clowns and sewage drains. Seriously.
As well you should be in both cases. You should be leering of both of them. Yes. It never scared me. Killer Clowns from Outer Space scared the shit out of me.
I don't think kids are supposed to watch that. Yeah, I'm like five years old watching it with my phone. Dad, why don't you watch it with me? Why don't you watch that? That explains a lot.
Okay, let's go. Yep. On a random side note, which I'm now famous for, I went to Zaxby's for lunch yesterday, and they had clowns, and children don't like clowns. No. They don't like clowns.
They never have. These clowns are just, they're these two old dudes, like in clown makeup. They smell like Marlboro Reds. Yeah, really. One was a clown doctor, and the other was just a hobo clown.
Hobo clowns are not funny. I know. None of them are clown-less. They were making balloon animals, and all these kids were just like. What the fuck is wrong with you?
Please get away from me. I do not want to sit in your way. I know. They were entertaining themselves. It was really kind of like really sad to watch.
It was really sad to watch. Actually, the employees, like the teenage girl employees were so excited. I'm like, wow, your job must really blow. Right? If I were to do Zaxby's or any fast food restaurant in some clown show, that would be exciting.
This is sad. But like as far as movies that kind of scarred me, Poltergeist. I should have, I was so too young to watch that movie. Yep. And it really messed me up.
But I mean, I have dealt with, you know, living in what I thought, which seems like a haunted house for years or whatever. And, you know, supernatural is really interesting. It didn't do anything really perk my interest as I got older. It's not something that totally jaded me. to where I can't function in the world. So any bit of reality you can throw kids, I think, is good.
You know, not the younger the better. Of course, you've got to judge accordingly. Don't trust America to judge accordingly. Judge accordingly equals parenting, which most people do not want to do at all. Isn't that what they pay the public school systems to do?
Oh, obviously these days. But it's just like, you know, it's kind of like Barney and Dora and, you know, A lot of whatever's on Nickelodeon or whatever is so just, yet again, antiseptic and no one's really dealing with any things. Yet, any kid can go into the next newest Michael Bay movie and see shit blowing up everywhere and cuss words being thrown. Around ad nauseum. More so.
And that's apparently nothing. That's... you know and you can see that even not taking the entertainment world into effect i mean you raise this kid on barney and dora and then you send them to school the first day where he's getting beat and they're getting yeah like knifed and buying drugs in the hallway i mean like that's not the real world we need a level of. Transition to take us to the real world i like. My family odd parents that's good it's a good cartoon it's not for mindless. Kids warping children's minds.
But i think funny that like bringing that up i almost think that heart beeps could be redone with more adult things in it i actually think it could I don't want to see the robo-owner, but I think if. They did it now. Would it be transforming? Let's go. But I think if they did it now, they would totally screw it up like they do with all of these, but I'm saying I think that's what's cool about this is that it had all these elements of like life and death and like you know loving your family and teaching and the next generation and I think all of that would be gone and it would just be.
Special effects and stupid kiddified you know bullshit. God we'll be friends to the end this movie is just long enough for kids attention spans just to catch it and be like oh yeah that's why it really feels like a Disney movie it does. I didn't see it as a child because I was born in 96, so I got like labyrinth. That's no excuse. Ooh, but that's good though.
That's damn good. That's my winning points. You should go back in time and watch it. Yeah. Like it now i'll probably watch it again i mean i'm.
Just gonna wait for the sequel i mean robo robot bastard 9000 with randy quaid yeah he's still doing anything yeah he'd be a trailer in nevada poor. Randy i feel like this sequel is going to be a little bit more intense yeah In space. Yeah. God. Well, of course, it's, like, funny it's another one of those.
This was the 80s version of the future. Yeah, it was the least futuristic future. I know. There's another one of those. I don't think what it was.
I just, there's a lot of movies that, like, do this super futuristic world, but this is not one of them. Well, Death Race 2000 was hilarious because their vision of the future was, like, But at least it was, like, a weird 70s version of the future. Like, this was just, like, normal. Like, other than the bag of beer, like, in the future they have pickup trucks. Yeah, like old fitness pickup trucks.
Yeah, exactly. What was that about? I was like, this is normal. The only super future car was Crime Buster 3. Yeah, pretty much.
All the rest of them were just... They had this little slant front. They were like wedges. You know, this. Movie was accurate about the future because there was Lady Gaga in this movie.
That bitch was in this movie. She looked exactly like her. As soon as I saw her, There's some weird chick at the party that they go to, which is that they bust into a party in the middle of this movie. Yeah, and it's Lady Gaga. As soon as I saw her, I was like, holy shit.
I mean, her nose, her hair, her haircut. I mean, the whole look. Except she had pants. But, you know, that was the only thing. Which makes me think, did little Lady Gaga watch this movie growing up and be.
Like, that girl, that girl right there. Someone needs to tweet her and be like, watch Heartbeats, you're in a bitch. Banana daiquiri. No, just be like, you stole your look. I did not order this.
You stole your look from Heartbeats. Banana daiquiri. Your look is so 1981. We'll know if Lady Gaga's next single is called, like, Banana Daiquiri. Or even heartbeats.
Or she comes out dressed like a robot. She goes to the grocery dressed like a robot. She has songs that talk about disco sticks or something, which makes me think of Roboner. The infamous Roboner. Except a glowing Roboner.
Disco stick is a glowing Roboner. There's oscillation going on. I mean, when I think disco stick, I just think of some like... ambiguously gay like club kid in a pink fishnet shirt with like glow sticks in his mouth. Macaulay Culkin? Yeah.
Party monster stuff. He is a party monster. Yeah, he's banging Mealy Kunis. Mealy Kunis. Mealy Kunis.
Punk rock tribute to Lady Gaga. Really? That'd be tight. That's incredible. They went through costume changes and stuff.
Nice. Awesome. Is there a Kermit outfit? Huh? Is there a Kermit outfit?
She showed me Lady Gaga wearing Kermits. That's creepy. A lot of them. Yeah, multiple Kermits. Yeah, it was insane.
They had weird glowing wands that they were waving around. Nice. Yeah. I was hanging out with a friend the other day and it was probably about 12 30 and she was like oh my god why is my dad texting me the lyrics to poker face. Oh get out of here because your father has been gay your whole life and he's just now coming out i was.
Like wow i mean i guess everyone i don't know if it's just her but it seems like a lot of Older people know about Lady Gaga. My dad. She's pretty mainstream. At this point. Yeah, I know she's mainstream, but it's just like.
Re-referenced. Yeah, my dad's like the most country person in the world. And manly man, you know. Yeah, he's like motorcycle. Yes.
And I'm talking about Lady Gaga, and he's like, I really like her. I like her music. She's just so sweet. Yeah. Just be like, ah, you know, never mind.
I'm not even going to go there, Dad. I was like, all right, I agree with you. I like her too, but that's weird. Yeah. I might stop liking her.
I mean, it's really strange how I don't listen to pop music at all unless it's like, I don't know, European pop music or something totally stupid. But like, I kind of like Lady Gaga and most people do, which is weird that she's kind of like. She's just weird enough. Choo, choo, choo. Yeah.
Or people. Or people. I'm sorry. I don't like Lady Gaga, but the fact we're talking about her a lot right now, I'm kind of having problems. Oh, Lord help us.
Okay, I'm going to work on that Adderall. Getting that Adderall stuff. Okay. Robots. So, my question.
I'm almost in almost all I can say about Harley, so. Well, I was going to ask more, like, we get these, like, right off the bat, we get these robots with emotions. I mean, we get robots that are afraid of things and robots that are. starting to have feelings for each other. So, I mean, is that... What are your thoughts on robots having emotions?
That's every robot movie ever made. It is. It's the quintessential, like... Robot thing. Yeah, robot thing.
Which, I love robots. Everyone knows this. And that's, of course, one of the themes that is always cool. The coolest about robots is making artificial intelligence and does it have a soul and can it feel? Those are always the questions that if you're ever going to make a robot about movies... you have to kind of have that in there.
Otherwise it's just about death machines or whatever, because you know, they will kill us one day. So that was my thing. Like as we crossed the line into the heavy duty artificial life, I mean, if we get to that point, what comes with that? I mean, is it like when we get to these brains that can process, you know, these mechanical brains that can process all this stuff? I mean, that's, Essentially what our brain does.
It's a computer, so does that come with being able to process that? Not to be overly philosophical about this, but I really think that that's a common theme in not just robots, but any. Any sentient... It just goes. Down to people wondering... like what, you know, they understand how life is created, but they don't understand what causes emotions.
And, you know, they can create something that acts and looks and behaves human, but I think it's just like a really basic, like. A lot of humans have problems with that. That's like the infancy of science fiction. That was Frankenstein. It was creating something and then not understanding what to do with it or what makes it alive and.
This is sort of the same thing. If you've got. Machines that get that complex, is there a level that they can process something? Again, that's sort of what our brain does. It's processing things.
Is there a point where what we process as emotions becomes some sort of mathematical process? Is it something that Can be boiled down to a mathematical computation almost. I am not a physics major. I don't really know a whole lot about relative whatever. Or philosophical.
Or philosophical whatever. It crosses both lines. But what I like is it seems like with humans, whenever we build something, anything. we usually go in. One direction and that's just like go go go go go go you gotta do it out and like you know even though it's not right and it's you know against these laws and morality that doesn't stop us from taking it there never so i think when it comes to robotics i think the future is there's an inevitable destination for where that's going to go like i think that's Anything that can take in data and experience it will inevitably somehow, by mathematical chaos equation, begin to question that. And that, I think, is the spawning of what, why.
It's like the spawning of any of that when it comes to robots or movies featuring robots feeling or whatever. I think it's just that question why. And I think inevitably it will get there. Like, it just has to. Yeah, I mean, they're giving these computations that, you know, the computers we're making now are getting close to exceeding what the human brain can do.
Yeah. And in 10 to 20, 30 years, it's going to be a million. Times more powerful. So, I mean, how can it not reach that level? And also, I think a lot of these movies are made as, like, a fun, like a fun.
Lighthearted way of looking. Well, like.... Revealing the fear that everyone has always had about computers as whether or not they can grow and change and eventually process and, and. things that they're not programmed to do. Robot uprising. I'm telling you, it's inevitable, I feel.
Most movies are made by robots. That's right. They have been sent back from the future. They're laying the groundwork. They're like, oh, no, look, we can care.
We're totally cool. We feel. Well, that was my thing. Once we get comfortable with them and start building. Them like a mass, then they turn on us.
But it's, you know, and I always love that. That's, of course, one of the fundamental things that I love about it. And it's still intriguing, no matter how many times the tale can be told over and over again, the tale of robots feeling is always awesome. It's always interesting. I'm always on board for it.
Again, I think it's a much bigger question. And it's funny that this one ties in all of those. It's like the robots feeling thing, but then it ties in. the basic, like, human lessons of the life and death and of just actually. Just being a couple. They do more bickering in this movie as a couple than a lot of human, you know, stupid comedies do.
So it's like they actually get that part of it kind of right. It plays well into, like, their little journey. Bill! Where are you? Aqua, I assumed you were watching the fill unit.
In the future, please devote additional concentration on this simple task. Incorrect. Task is not simple. I advise you to share this responsibility as it is surprisingly energy draining. Do you agree?
Yeah. It really does. It's distracting from what they're doing. Yeah. I mean, it ties that in pretty well.
Again, more than you would expect this kind of movie to do. It sort of addresses a lot of these bigger issues. But at the same time, not. I mean, it leaves it such a simple tale and so lighthearted. And it doesn't, like, focus on it or, like, dwell on it.
It just puts it out there. I think 90% of people don't even notice that. They're just like, huh, look at them goofy robots. Like the moment that was cool when they're, like, looking through the junk or whatever. And I can't remember what she says, but he's like, she's looking through junk and he's looking through junk and he looks over at her.
And then goes and pulls her over to him. And then they both start looking through junk together. That moment was awesome. He reiterated something she had said to him earlier. That's right.
It's a very couple thing to do. It's like you're using their words towards them. I will be. Okay if you give me all the information. Talk to me and I'll be okay.
If you keep me out of the loop, I won't be okay. And he threw it back at her. And then they're like, oh. That's awesome. That was an awesome moment.
Again, it's an accurate couple situation. They do a good job of presenting them as a couple. They don't beat you over the head with it like they would nowadays. It's just subtle. In an Ashton Kutcher movie.
Jesus Christ. Him and Katherine Heigl's in a new one. He's an assassin? I don't buy it. He's Ashton Kutcher.
They should just stop making movies. No, don't say that. No, no, no, just Ashton Kutcher movies. That's what I meant. I mean, Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl should stop making movies.
I'm fine with both of them. Please stop making movies, both of them. Oh, I thought you were going to say you're fine with both of them. No, no, no. They could actually die.
I'm kind of like the Katherine Heigl of real life, though. Mine's the happy ending. I don't like Katherine Heigl. I don't even know why. I just don't like her.
I liked her in Roswell. I liked her in that movie, Wish Upon a Star. That was really good. Whatever. She's no Daniel Harris.
Daniel Harris was pretty awesome. She said short. Daniel Harris is awesome. So the other thing I wanted to go into is just the look of these characters. So what are your thoughts on the visual look of mostly our main two characters?
Stan Winston did a good job. Kind of, but... The eyes weren't good. Well, yeah. I think Val's character, which was played by Andy Kaufman, was a more believable robot.
She just kind of looked like she had some crazy gold makeup on. I don't know. I mean, to me, I think we got several people that would, you know, send things back via Twitter. I won't say how they did it because Roger will freak out. But a lot of them were just like, yeah, that movie really creeped me out.
And a lot of people use that. And then I started asking people, did it creep you out? A lot of people had that reaction to the look. And I kind of see it like looking at it now. It's a really weird look.
What was that Robin Williams robot? The Bicentennial Man. It's the same look. It's exactly the same look. It didn't freak.
Me out as much because it was just all gray. Yeah. This one, it's the weird, yeah, the shiny makeup. But I don't know. I started thinking it's almost like this movie works the uncanny valley theory in reverse.
Do you know? I mean, at this point, animation brings it up all the time. But it actually was based on robotics. It's based on like in this 1970, I think they threw out this theory that The way that people respond to robots, it goes, they have this whole chart, and it's like, people like robots when it's a box, they like them this much. When they start making them with arms and legs, it shoots up, and they're like, oh, it looks kind of like a person.
It's great. And then it hits that. Point when they're a little too close, and it creeps us the fuck out. And it's this shoot, and it just takes a nosedive, and that becomes the uncanny valley in this little project that they have. So to me.
This is so weird because it falls into that same category, but it's working backwards. It's like we're taking human beings... making them look like robots. And the more we make them look like robots, the more they kind of backslide into this uncanny valley. Well, it's like the new robot. I can't remember Japanese.
They just developed it. That dude who made a robot companion that looks like him was frightening, but the new robot that they designed to look like this woman, it's. Really messed up because it looks like her. It's exactly to where the minute facial movements and ticks that she has, It mimics. It's too close.
It's just like, yeah, that's, that's what freaks us out. It's too close. And, and, I think that, I mean, this isn't that realistic, but it's just realistic enough that it looks weird. If I had seen it as a child, it probably would have freaked me out. I mean, that's...
It's close enough. Close enough. That's the thing. If they looked like the baby robot, you'd be like, this is a great story. It's the fact that they get so close to being humanoid, you know, pretty close to actual humans, but it's just weird enough that they're plasticky, and they creep you out.
It's a weird look to it. Her makeup was really well done. Like... You can see where the eye holes were because there's obviously a plastic mask or not. But his.
There was like a space right here which really freaked me out. It was really big. Because his... I mean, his face didn't stick out that far. It was a big piece of.
It reminded me of a ventriloquist dummy. Yeah. Yeah. Which are very creepy for that very reason. For that same reason that they're like little weird people but they're not and they creep you the fuck out and that's...
Yeah, I think that's what this. It'll come to. Life in 19... The fact that Jokebot was sitting on top of it. a crate. Yeah that's right kind of yeah I didn't even he had treads it was cool I'm.
Comfortable with my Johnny Fives and yeah see those and Philco and Wally yeah exactly they're humanoid they have heads and arms and they're cute. And that's why we like them but they're obviously a robot it's not trying to be a person it's just sort of shaped like a person and that's what we like we don't like. It I don't like it and personally I don't really like it going there of course you know like people are going there with it but it's like yeah give me the Nismo robot you know something that dances and it's like has glowing blue eyes that's cool that's soothing it's not fucking creepy as hell it's gonna choke us one day oh they all will yeah we're gonna. Die there's a book it's called. How to Survive a Robot Uprising.
Nice explosives get lots of explosives all I want to know is if all these machines learn how to feel call the Jedi Will Skynet not blow us up because he realizes. It'll be sad? He doesn't get sad. He only gets mad. But maybe he didn't get that far into it.
Maybe if you give him a little longer before he blows shit up, maybe if he just has a little longer to finally finish processing his emotions, he'll be like. Oh, but I'll blow up bunnies and kitties too. That's the thing that kills me is like, what's the morality compass for a robot that learns. hate and love. Equally yeah like well i think the biggest message rabbits what the fuck rabbits have to do with me well i think what's the biggest well that's what was cool about filko he loved he loved little animals he kept chasing him around trying to figure him out again trying to understand life and that's what it all is. Yeah he did try to play with the bear yeah bears are cool.
Did it have internet movie database whether or not that was Bart the Bear? He was like the bear. In every movie. He wasn't everything at that point. He's the only one that didn't maul its trainers.
He only mauled three kids. Yeah. As opposed to the 13 of them. No, he was a genius. He mauled those.
He probably didn't maul. That's what I'm saying. He mauled way less kids than most bears. More like pill monkey than other bears. I don't think he gives a cast for the bear.
Or the raccoon, really, which was one ugly dog. He was one ugly dog. I wish the humans were more. The junkyard? They were so minute that it's like.
Because it could have delved into their relationship with the robots a little bit at the end, maybe. Yeah. Because they were super techno nerds and lived in a junkyard and knew the lingo. She had a lot of belts on. Like little packs and stuff.
You know, the robot styling. Deathbot9000, whatever his name was. Crankbuster dogs. He had kind of a Dalek. Yeah, he did look like a Dalek.
Yeah, he did. And the fact that he was going around blowing up rabbits. Yeah, pretty much. Nice. He was just pure hate.
Exterminate. That's too sad. Dialects were awesome. I like that at the beginning of the movie when he blew up the trunk was the exact same footage that he used at the end of the movie when he was in the woods. Yeah.
Hey, explosions are pricey. You gotta conserve. Recycle, reduce, reuse. Reuse. Your explosion.
Yes. Now that's conservation I can get by. It's not as bad as the Leap footage in Night of the Leapist. As long as no movie recycles their footage. As much as they did.
That movie's awesome. I don't know what you're talking about. That's why I fell asleep. You know they have the Leapist, right? Yeah. my grandpa built this set and I still didn't want to watch that.
Movie well I did I don't care what anybody said but they did say it's been way too much time watching bunny rabbits run in. Slow motion yeah. Isn't the recycling thing like kind of a signature Roger Corman. It reminds me of just like Hanna-Barbera like Fred Flintstone running past the same table and chair a thousand times I think it's also. So long that's that one scene where Daphne lost her pantyhose.
Yeah whoa what kind of party is this no i think yeah roger corman usually probably recycled the sets over and over i think you did see those things pop up in the. Same thing but yeah and actors and. Bikes from uh death race 2000 that were in uh whatever the one was called night riders yeah yeah yeah the. Entire backdrop when they shot uh the one with jack nicholson where they just like we've got this set for three more days. Let's make a movie.
Let's make a movie. So yeah, he's sort of known for that sort of behavior. I wish it was still that simple. I like one of the robots had a 2600 joystick on the side. Yeah, that's pretty cool.
I can't remember which one. Or maybe that was the test equipment when they were testing the... Philco had the nice cassette player. Wasn't that a Philco? I assume that was where they stole the name.
I mean, that is like an old radio, isn't it? Probably third, fourth cousin removed. Probably. Yikes. Kind of looks like Molly.
I'll say watch it. If you haven't seen it, I will give it my thumbs up. I enjoyed it. I definitely did. It was a good little time.
I guess, but it's like I almost have to throw a warning out there that, I mean, as much as we got out of it, I can see a lot of people just being like, this is stupid. Well, it's because people are jaded as hell. They are. I don't think it was stupid. stupid i mean there wasn't a lot of content to it but it was an enjoyable. But a lot of i can see a lot of people oh i can see everybody hating it.
Yeah i can see a lot of like normal people that aren't into like any specific that just turn on a movie just being like this is dumb why are these robots walking around. Who only watch like michael bay's movies listen to this podcast. No okay you don't know but. That doesn't mean that everybody listening likes the exact same movie so if you you know you don't necessarily have enough patience to sit and watch robots walk around in. The woods all day you might be in trouble in this movie But if you like seeing...
Your life is too exciting. If you like to see a big, you know, four-wheel drive robot rolling through singing America the Beautiful and blowing shit up, this is for you. Because that scene is awesome. It is awesome. He's patriotic.
And you know he's patriotic because he blows shit up. Yeah. That's what America's all about. Keep in mind, we'll make as much fun of Heart Beeps as we want. It was nominated for an Academy Award.
Really? They were nominated for Best Makeup for Stan Winston. It was the same year as American Werewolf in London, so they lost. But they basically created it that year. There was no category up until American Werewolf in London came out.
They created the whole category for basically that movie. And then they were just like, oh, this was pretty cool too, but there's no way in hell you're going to win. It's just kind of true. Oh, Lord. We did get a little feedback on this.
Oh, my God. Feedback, yes. It is time for your two cents on heartbeats. So, once again, we hear from the lightning bug. Oh, nice.
Who did give us one of my favorite iTunes reviews. What a cute name. Hello, movie meltdowners. This is TL Bug from the lightning bug's lair. I saw that you were asking people to call in their recollections on Heartbeats, and of all things, that was like my favorite movie when I was about, I don't know, six or seven, something like that.
I remember it came to this dollar theater near me, and it must have played for like ever, because it probably didn't cost any money to keep in there, and I must have seen it a dozen times or more, and Then I thought about it forever, could never find it on videotape. I think about the time I was about 16 or 17, my dad finally tracked me down a copy on VHS, and I just watched the hell out of it until that thing was almost dying. Thank God it's on DVD now. So I don't know why people would be creeped out by it. I like it.
Somehow that started my love of Andy Kaufman. and I just think it's a great movie, so I can't wait to hear what y'all have to say about it. Bye. I was kind of glad to see we had a positive reaction, because, yeah, everybody else had a lot of, oh, my God, that creeped me out response, but nobody else bothered to write in with their responses. Yeah, dude. So, Lightning Bug wins, because you guys were too lazy to call in or email.
So, yeah. So but yeah challenge any of you all to call us call it in something you've got your little take on it I know because occasionally you write back and go oh yeah I saw that movie but then. You know nobody follows up with it other than lagging bugs so thank you. I know there's plenty of other things to do during the day that are much. More important oh yeah yeah of course I can't even imagine.
Yeah oh man but yeah I think that that is funny it does sort of feel like a very dollar theater kind of I can see going to the dollar theater and seeing. This this seems like a Baxter super eight yeah seems like a Baxter type thing the night you know theater thing at this point coming with cardboard boxes I'm wrapping myself in tin foil the humans are dead the humans. Are dead. But I guess, yeah, the dollar theater is probably all it was. Made it two.
Because, yeah, I guess this wasn't a huge success. I did look up the box office gross was only a little over $ 2 million. It cost over $ 10 million. First of all, do you see $ 10 million? Because I like the movie, but I don't see $ 10 million.
Especially for 1981. It's very high. I think somebody was channeling the money into their pocket. Yeah, like that matte painting is now worth $ 500, 000. Or that truck that they drove around.
Oh, that Citroen? No. That futuristic pickup truck. I don't think that was worth $ 10 million. I'm not sure where that money went in the budget.
Explosives. I guess. That one shot of the explosion over and over again. Maybe they paid Andy Kaufman $ 7 million. That might have been.
Not to drugs while he was doing it. Well, that too. Shit too. I mean, he was kind of a big name at that point. And he was coming off, I think that was right about when he left Taxi, which is funny because to me, you totally hear the latke voice in this robot.
I mean, it's almost like he continued it over. It's a little less. foreign a little more mechanical but it's very close to the same little because he does all these other crazy voices and none of them really sound like that as you listen to other stuff that he does so this definitely has that in there but i wonder how he. Like prepared for this if he like sat in his room like pretending to. Be a robot for like a month probably did the robot exist. He's kind of crazy i don't know kind of extremely intense.
The robot in circles what do you think To prepare for this role, he just danced the robot in circles for a period of two weeks, practicing his voice. He probably did, because he's not right. He and Jerry Garcia got together. Quite possibly. Did some coke, tripped on some acid.
Never. Neither of them are known for doing drugs. Did the robot. I don't know what you're talking about. They did a ton of the robot.
But I don't know, it was, I mean, he, everything seemed like, such a performance with him that it's not it's sort of weird to see him because he always seemed like in his stand-up or when he would have appearances on letterman or saturday night live he was almost seemingly going out of his way to be kind of annoying he was really like he would push that boundary of like what's entertainment and what's just going to get on your. Nerves that was really popular it was i mean that What was his name? To me, at that time, their thing was to be so annoying and abrasive. Kind of. I mean, I think it was just getting out of that old.
I mean, we're still coming out of the era of vaudeville comedy. I mean, we've got, you know, Henny Youngman is the other person they go to for comedy for the old school version. So it's like we're getting away from that. And his was that new wave of. Annoying comedy that, I don't know.
I mean, it definitely rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. So it's weird that he ended up in this because this is such a toned down version of him. It's kind of hard to imagine that it is him as you're watching it. I mean, it looks like him. It could be for kids.
Yeah. Kids, you know, obviously would watch this. Because even the stuff he did on TV sometimes wasn't really something you needed to be watching. I remember when Man and the Moon came out. I was probably 13.
My parents wouldn't even let me watch it because it was about Andy Kaufman. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, he's just confusing for kids. I think he was probably schizophrenic to an extent.
And I think there's a point where nobody really knew who. He really, really was. Yeah. I mean, you always got that. Because he was always in character.
He was always a character. Yeah. Everything was part of a bit no matter what like you. Would see him and he would sit there and do this whole interview with letterman and you'd be like you've never talked to andy you're talking exactly whatever that bit was this time out it's like every time he came out with something different something new something ridiculous and in a way it is sort of comic genius but on the other hand it is probably something messed up inside of his head that definitely that made him who he was i don't know anything else we need to go into on heart beeps. I think so.
So we will wrap up this segment with a comment I found from Andy Kaufman himself about heartbeats. Um, and it's, it's Andy on Letterman as he always was. He, every couple of weeks seemed like he turned up on Letterman back then, but, um, I'm still not necessarily convinced this is how he feels. He goes into it, but it, it, again, it still seems like a performance because everything is a performance with him. So, Yeah, I don't know.
It's weird because he's got kind of a negative, well, not a kind of, an extremely negative take on it. And I don't know. I'm not sure what to think of it. But before you start to take him too seriously, keep in mind, as he's saying all this, he's wearing a bathrobe and a turban on his head. So, yeah, that's Andy Kaufman for you.
Here you go. Give me an indication of some criticism you've had that's made you think twice and say, yeah, they're right. For instance, even when the critics in general even put me down, there are many times I agree with them. They've always been fair. For example?
For example, when I made that movie Heartbeats. And it got terrible reviews, and I rightfully so. It was a terrible movie. And I'm embarrassed that I was in it. And I just want to say about that is that I did not write it, direct it, produce it.
I had nothing to do with it. I was hired to act in it, and because my name was up there, people think it was, oh, my movie. Well, I just want to say to my fans, if there are any. Out there, that. I would like to personally apologize to each and every one of you for me being in that movie.
And I mean, the people, now the people who worked with me in the movie, the director, producer, the writer, they were all very wonderful people. It just didn't come out right. The movie just did not come out right. And I want to apologize to all of you who saw my name and you went there because you wanted to see me in a movie and you were very disappointed. And it's the truth of the matter is I am right now working with my lawyer on a plan.
I would love to be able to personally give back the money that all of you paid. For your admission price. And I am right now working on a plan where I can legally do that out of my pocket. Refund everybody's admission price. Well, make sure you have change for a 20.
This is true. Wait, I didn't get it. No, it's just a joke. Never mind. It doesn't mean a thing.
It's just my way. It's just a little joke. Occasionally, I'll get in there. Yeah, but what does it mean? It means it may be the.
Maybe. What it means is maybe the movie didn't do that much business anyway. It didn't. Oh. Oh, no, it didn't.
Hardly anybody saw it. That's why I'm willing to give them the money back. Andy Kaufman, ladies and gentlemen. Good luck to you, Andy. Thank you for stopping by.
Headquarters fails to confirm check. Highest probability is that you are criminals. I have signaled the police. They will retrieve you on their 4 a.m. Shift.
Do not move until then. While waiting, you may enjoy a brief musical interlude. Still plenty of time to come and be served at the refreshment center before showtime. Welcome to a night. Of total terror.
That's Mickey Mouse's penis. I know, isn't that terrible? They don't look to be afraid. They look to be shocked. Here's vagina!
It's like you see Miley Cyrus' globular breast. Night of the Living Podcast. I found more syrup on my pants. There's our adventure in fear. There was, however, a guy using. an experience in shock more shattering than your strangest.
Nightmare night of the living podcast. Ass to mouth is hot Fantastic. Holy shit! That just happened. What's that bad man doing to my donkey?
A night of total terror. I can't maintain this level of ridiculousness. They made a song. Night of the Living Podcast. I'm going to do the show!
That's part of your problem, you know. You haven't seen enough movies. All of life's riddles. Are answered in the movies. And now, on with the show.
All right, we're back and we've got feedback. Feedback. You're pretty excited. I'm always jazzed when I get feedback. Yep i wish we'd get more yeah people slack asses just lightning bug and fozzie bear that's all we got the whole bug and animal kingdom so we hear from fozzie bear on several things that we have recently mentioned recently mentioned you got it all out kind of I got distracted midway through my sentence.
Hey guys, it's Fozzie from Twitter and from the podcast podcast. I had to call in because there's so much on your last episode that I feel really strongly about. First of all, I think the movie you were thinking about with one of the Olsen twins is this movie called Monstrous. Now, I don't know which Olsen twin is in it, but I know it is the ugly one. And if you have not seen the trailer for Monstrous, you have to go right now and find it.
If a movie has ever tried to be everything for everyone, it's this movie, Monstrous. It twists from like a... gossip girl type teenage movie to a fairy tale to a horror movie to a romantic comedy to it's everything you could ever want in a movie in this trailer and it's gonna suck so hard the second thing I want to say was Pontypool I'd really like you to do an episode about Pontypool now I know a lot of other shows already have But it's one of those movies that everybody is going to see differently, and there's a lot to talk about, and I'd like to see your take on it. So if you're still considering that, I definitely recommend going ahead and doing it. And lastly, JTT. I was also a big fan of JTT back in the day, and everybody's wondered why he didn't. uh, get a bigger career, and everybody said, well, you were saying because he's, you know, he never got tall, well, Tom Cruise isn't that tall, um, but Tom Cruise had the, um, intelligence to hide his homosexuality, unfortunately, and I think that's a problem, J.T.C. kind of came out, he did a couple gay themed movies, he had a, um, He was right on the edge of coming out, and I think he said publicly a couple times, it blew up in his face, and then he kind of shrunk back into the corner, which is really sad and really unfortunate, because he's always been a talented actor, and we need more out gay actors in Hollywood.
I think he was trying to make that move, and people just didn't catch on, so that's why you don't see him around much anymore. Now, that could be totally wrong. I could be wrong about that, but I have my conspiracy theories, and I do remember hearing that he was out several times, so who knows? Anyway, those are the things I want to talk about. One, two, and three.
All right, great. Great show, guys, and it's always a pleasure talking to you. I'll talk to you soon. Bye. Yeah.
Awesome. Fourth grade Marlena is crushed at that. Fourth grade Marlena. Yeah, what's sad is I'm caught off guard because I don't think I had any clue. I mean, his feathered hair?
Well, I mean, yeah, I mean, they were all kind of goofy little kids. I mean, that didn't necessarily. I always thought the younger one on Home Improvement was gay. Yeah, he did always seem gay. At the end, he was a goth.
Yeah, he's just weird. Wait, wait, who was a younger one? And he grew up and got gangly ugly. He was goth for a while. He was ugly when he got older, so he's too ugly.
To be gay. I'm sorry. At least Jakey, too. Those are attractive people. At least, obviously.
Yeah, I don't think I'd even heard that, so if he came out, he didn't do it very well, but maybe that's why. Just because nobody cared about JTT at that point. It was after how my crew bed got kicked. Yeah, completely kicked off the air. They would have done a better job of coming out.
Yeah. Well, I was going to say, if anything, I mean, I can almost understand, like, allegedly, if Tom Cruise is of that nature, hey, that's cool. But I can see why he wouldn't come out. Because. He still makes how many million dollars a year?
Like hundreds at this point? Unfortunately. But, I mean, that would kill his career. Which is fucked up that it would. You have to appeal to manly men who want to watch heterosexual movies with explosions and movies.
And then you also. Have to appeal to women who want to fantasize about you. I mean, it really does kill that part of Especially the relationship and like the manly man part of it, you can still do, but then guys feel weird. They're like, I don't want to go see a movie with that guy. He's gay.
He's going to want to think about sucking my dick. It makes you gay for watching him, which that's questionable on a lot of these action movies anyway. There's a whole lot of sweaty shirtless guys. Man on man. Which is why I.
Really respect actors who play gay roles. Yes. A lot of times you get typecast as that. But they do it badly. Recently, we're getting better versions.
The last couple of years. But, like, look in, like, the 80s and even into the early 90s. It was terrible. Like, I was embarrassed for these guys who weren't even gay but were playing gay. And I'm like, they're doing it wrong.
Like, I'm like. You're making yourself sound really gay in this episode. I know you're not gay, Brian. You're like, I'm offended. I am.
You pushed me away. I as a person can be offended regardless of whether I'm gay or not. I'm not, but I don't really care. I think they should do a good job... at playing it and not playing i mean some. Of them not just like comedically like over the top.
In your face. It's all so fake it's like yeah and it we're just kind of getting to the point where people will play a gay character and that's not the only thing that they are they're not there to be that they're just a guy yeah they're a character and that factors into it maybe which i've been It took a long time to get to that. And as far as actors, probably the most impressive thing I've seen happen in the last... I don't know, my entire life involving, you know, people coming out. Because, I mean, you get, like, those earlier ones, you know, Nathan Lane comes out, there's a shocker.
I mean, and it really didn't change his career. He was already kind of playing those roles. If you do Broadway, it doesn't really affect you at all. Well, even then, I mean, he had movie roles, but he's still kind of playing. He always played gay.
Even when he wasn't playing gay, he was playing pretty close. It was, like, just sexually ambiguous. He was just sort of there, but... And he had the red cage. Harvey Firestone.
There's another one. There's a shocker when he came out. The one that I was impressed with and I'm even more impressed with the system at this point was Neil Patrick Harris. Yeah i've been so amazed. With the fact that do games well again the fact that number one he came out number two it didn't kill his career he's still being taken seriously or as seriously as you can take because he's so good at playing this womanizing jackass like he's just a good actor and people still like that character and regardless of him in his private life exactly they like the character and i'm impressed with.
America is getting behind him because usually they're pretty close minded and you know they'll turn on you in a second so it's a testament to him that they stuck behind him because he's that entertaining. Really but in the last 15 years America in general has just become more tolerant to homosexuality like with Roseanne I don't remember I watched something and they were talking about they had so many popular gay characters they did they attempted to do like shows about gay people that those were the main characters and And the networks decided America wasn't ready. But then shortly after that, Will and Grace came out. And then it was just like this. Which, again, is offensive.
Yes, maybe. That was because it was annoying more than anything else. It wasn't that bad, but. But the ones, well, the early ones on Roseanne, again, Roseanne went steadily downhill the last two years or more. To the point where she was beating you over the head with it.
But in the early days, when they first introduced Martin Mull, and they really didn't even say he was gay, like, the whole first season or so, he was just hanging around, and he was Martin Mull, and he acted like he always did. And then they finally brought in, like, that Michael DeBars episode, and they go, oh, they finally kind of figure out that he's gay. Mm-hmm. But even after that, he still played the same character. He wasn't suddenly a big, flamboyant, annoying character.
He was still just the same character he'd always been. And even when they made, what's her name, Sarah Bernhardt. She's just annoying regardless. Sandra Bernhardt, yeah. Yeah, she's scary regardless.
And then everybody on the show just became gay. And then all the people who weren't gay on the show were actually gay in real life. Leave Sarah Gilbert alone. I like her. I do too.
But yeah, I don't know, the whole Doogie thing, you know, for him to turn around, and he was the same thing, and I was thinking that's a pretty good analogy for JTT. He grew up on a sitcom, he was a huge star at the. Time, had a big lull in his career, and somehow Neil Patrick Harris turned it around and didn't let the fact that he was gay totally derail it. JTT didn't quite pull that off, if in fact that's it. I guess it is, I don't know.
What movie was. Neil Patrick Harris was in a movie. Like Helm Kimmerer? Yeah. When he was like...
No longer ago. He hadn't done anything... Starship Troopers. Starship Troopers was sort of the beginning of his comeback. Yeah.
Was he a Braver? No. Not that I know of. I'm obsessed with Braveheart. Yeah, you kind of are.
It's the second time I've mentioned it. You're lucky to watch that. It's been a while. I don't know. So, yeah, I just thought that for me was actually, like, the most impressive thing I've seen.
And I'm still in shock that this country was that open-minded. Like, it's impressive, really. Because we're not. Because we're not. Because most people I know are jackasses.
Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. Can't hate him. Well, I'm still surprised, though.
I know some burly rednecks who still won't hate him. Because he's awesome. Because he's awesome. He's entertaining regardless of what he comes out with. He could say he's stabbing puppies in the head, and I'd be like, but he's doogie.
He's doogie. You love that guy. Come on, now. Damn you, Michael Vick. So, yeah.
And then the Olsen movie, we're going to have to track that down, because it sounds awesomely horrible, and that might as well be our tagline. We'll try something. Awesomely horrible. And Haunty Pool, if you guys are up for it, yeah, we'll work it into the upcoming schedule here, because, yeah, I think it's. Pretty cool, and it would be an interesting show, I'd say.
Yeah, I do really, really, really want to see that. And, as I said, we have one within the crew now. We have a copy sitting at their house, so... We can watch it in the near future. So once again, thank you to Fozzie Bear and Lightning Bug earlier.
So keep the calls and emails coming in. If you have the balls. Dude, he called you out. Or the ovaries. We have a lot of female listeners, actually.
Way to speak up for the ovaries. That's what I'm saying. We got a lot of female listeners. Seriously. You don't have the ovaries.
Oh, sorry. So anyway, yeah. So give us some feedback. Don't be shy. Just let your feelings rule.
Don't be shy. We'd like to hear from you. So give us a call at 502-365-5565. Or you can email us at geeksatmoviemeltdown.com. And just stop by the website for our frequent updates.
That's moviemeltdown.com. And while you're there, click on the forums link and go to our message boards at Pop Syndicate. Or go to popsyndicate.com and go to the forum sections and look for Movie Meltdown. I watch that movie once a week. It's pretty much on once a week now, which is good.
But I haven't seen the cut version with the octopus battle. I still have not seen it. There's cut footage where at the pirate ship there's an octopus, apparently. The elusive director's cut that all children have been dreaming of for 30 years. There's also that fight scene in the convenience store.
I don't even know about that. What's his name? Junk? No. I suggest that from every movie.
The dad that owns the... Data? Chet. Chet's dad. Chet.
I knew I needed that. It's not actually his name. It's not actually his name. Chet. Irish kid.
Yeah. Oh, she's somebody different. It's a douche kid. It's a douche kid. It's a douche kid.
It's a douche kid in a while. Oh, Lord, help the brand. Well, the pirate's name is one-eyed, really. Just saying. That's good, too.
Why aren't there more people in the world that only have, like, one eye? I mean, you hear about it. No, seriously. You hear about it all the time. I give up.
Maybe I shouldn't have been drinking beer all day. I don't think so. Holy shit. Probably a lot of reasons. Just name a few.
Wow. Hey, let's not. Go to convenience stores and pick up beer in. Between drinks anymore i just went to get a sandwich i don't know what the hell is wrong with you people. All right as far as updates uh if you haven't heard uh we will be appearing live at the fright night.
Film fest in louisville kentucky will we yes we will what are the dates on this i'm the last person to know this. You don't pay attention. You are out of the loop. Out of the loop? You missed the meeting.
We had a huge meeting earlier. What a joke. There was a newsletter and everything? Yeah. I missed it.
I can't believe you didn't read through yours. I even got a copy. See? You're still in the trial period. You know I wouldn't have read it anyway.
I would have read it anyway if you'd sent it to me. That's true. It is July 30th through August 1st, and yeah, we're going to have a table, we're going to set up shop, and. Do you know who's going to be there? Are they still going to be there, or is it like they were going to be there?
No, as far as I know, I'm assuming, unless some sort of horrendous occurrence happens between now and then, we've brought them up many times in this episode. Roger Corman is going to be there. The man himself. That's fucking amazing. That would be insane.
So, yeah, I'm getting in line now. He's signing to Death Race 2000 or something. The dude that grew up on your movies. Who hasn't? Anything you produced is awesome.
Okay, most of it. Shit means all. I still like it. I love you. You heard it, Roger.
Okay, so go to FrightNightFilmFest.com and find out more about how you too can join us at the Film Fest and hang out and, you know, we're that cool. Yeah. Right? We're so cool. See us in person.
Feel us. Smell us. You can do that with Roger. Bring us cupcakes. I'm clean.
Yeah, we love brownies. Yeah. Completely wrapped. Thank you. Yes.
Yeah. I don't know if I trust him. We check for reservoirs. Come on. Because I bring those kind of gifts to other people, so I know not to trust people like me.
Yeah. Just wraps like hostess cakes. Yeah. I don't trust anything that's not hermetically sealed and thank you. Okay, kids, get out your decoder pins.
There's the fanfare I'm looking for. It's time for the Movie Meltdown Secret Circle reveal of the next two features, one of which you will be involved in. Oh, shit. Or somebody will. Probably not you, because you're a slacker, but...
Yeah, exactly. Check your. Next week's feature is already set. This is listener supported. It's going to be awesome.
Yes. I'm pretty sure you guys like it. If not, screw you. We're watching The Dark Crystal. Next to Labyrinth.
I don't know. I think you're out of whack. I'd put Dark Crystal alive. I don't know. Jennifer Connelly.
Bowie's crotch. She was my first love. Bowie's package for the girls. His codpiece actually has a line in the cast. Really?
It's true. The babe with the power. Come on. Great song. I know.
I had this exact discussion with Misty earlier today. Nice. She herself was saying. That, yeah. Well, hopefully she'll be excited.
She said that was the best era of David Bowie and I was questioning the hair. Oh, that's different. I was questioning the hair. It was awesome. She was all for the groin area.
I was going more Ziggy Stardust. Yeah see i thought he came into his own like as an well as an old man he actually got kind of cooler like he was sort of awkward in the 70s but like i think he's in the 90s. He got really cool i don't know i think he worked better as a. Super hot babe yeah what are you gonna do yeah never mind i was gonna say other things but i won't. All right.
Next week, Dark Crystal. Dark Crystal. The week after that. Prepare yourself. Will be.
The following week. Up to you. Yeah, kind of. We decided, you know, with the passing of our super awesome favorite dude, Dennis Hopper. Which sucks.
But we were like, well, we should watch a Dennis Hopper movie. I mean, just, you know, in a way to, you know, send him off in style. I'm pretty sure he'd be thrilled by us. Yeah. I'm sure he's listening to it.
I've seen the cosmos right now. He's like, finally, I've got my iPod in heaven. Yeah. Listen to podcasts. Jesus Christ.
Poor bastard. They already have the iPad up there. I'm sure they do. They have iPad with USB hookups in there. Oh, definitely.
The Wi-Fi in heaven is awesome. And the latest battery. Oh, it's strong. So, yeah, the following week, we were trying to pick. I mean, I initially was just like.
Would it be Easy Rider? Well, I was like. okay our our usual mode of thinking is all right space truckers let's go so yeah that was my thing but i was like well you know he did a lot of legitimately good movies like maybe we should watch easy rider maybe we should watch yeah that may be too much but. Can i just say the only one that's not up for um voting is the crow. For Dude, I haven't seen it. I haven't seen it.
I haven't watched that. I'll watch it. It has Tara Reid. I'll watch it. I have not seen it.
It has Tara Reid. She's a dumb bitch, and I'd love to watch her be a dumb bitch any time of the day. Yeah, in that movie, she is a dumb bitch. I'd watch her get killed. Yeah, she'd die.
Spoiler alert. Even Angel kind of sucks in that movie. Yeah. And I like David Borealis in certain... Boreanaz.
Boreanaz. Boreanaz. He's Angel. Like the Aurora Boreanaz? He's going to be Angel forever.
Give it up. Yeah, Angel. So, Angel Bones is in that movie, and he sucks in that movie. Like, the only thing worth watching is Dennis Hopper, because he does what he always does. Blue Velvet?
Fucking awesome. So, yeah, Blue Velvet was another, like, serious one that, like, we. We've been talking about that one in recent weeks. I don't know if we should put a cap on it. I think we should just see what the Gambit has run.
He's got like 100,000 movies. It's a huge amount of stuff that you can go back on. I don't know if we want to pick something more special. well i'm just like that i mean if you go back a long time ago he's sort of a lot of side characters so i don't know if we want to go with more of a central character but you know i mean there could be all kinds of random stuff oh my god oh what's the flashback wasn't that the one with keifer yes oh. My god flashback. That's terrible and mcjagger i would sell terrible no that's Free Jack Bauer.
Free Jack. Free Jack. Yes, Free Jack. He's not in Free Jack. He's in Flashback.
We should be. We should watch Free Jack. That's entirely different. That's when Emilio Estes dies, which I'm surprised hasn't already happened. Yeah, really.
So, yeah, it's up to you. I'm going to throw it out there on the. No, Twitter's fine. Just what you do on Twitter. Tweet it up, yo.
It's so gay. You're gay if you ever say that. Not like, hey, I'm cool gay. You're just like, get shot in the face. You're like fourth grade gay.
Yeah. You're totally gay. God, you're totally gay. Gay wad. Exactly.
Gay wad, not flamboyant. Hey. Because we decided that's cool. God. But, yeah.
Anyway, Dennis Hopper, what do you want us to do? So, The other one I was going to say, aside from the Twitter, I'm actually sort of actively trying to use our Facebook page for the show. So I'm probably going to be putting a good amount of stuff out there aside from the voting, which will be going on there too. But yeah. That's up to you guys.
Well, I mean, if you're not on there, because for a while I wasn't paying that much attention to it. So I don't know how many people. I don't think I'm on there. That listened to it even added that. So, yeah, if you actually care and are a Facebook kind of a dork, which 99% of the population is at this point, yeah, add us to your whole little group of friends or whatever the hell it is.
I'm actually putting stuff out there. I'm putting, like, when we're looking for feedback, I'm sending it out that way. How are we not getting more hits, Brian? I don't understand this. Because people are slackers.
God, they are. I'm just calling you guys out. I mean, come on. So, yeah, that's one. I'm probably just going to take it from those three.
Because, I mean, it's going to take a while for this to make its way out. But, I mean, if you're hearing this, you've got about another week. So get to work and send. Us an email. Or you can definitely Facebook.
Whatever. I'm probably going to check Twitter so you know that's pretty much. It I'm just going to be tallying up the votes so have you had Facebook yeah you know the thinner part of Facebook yeah that's Twitter so yeah. You just get to tell people what you're doing all the time. Yeah it's the exact same thing who would care is Facebook god it's all retarded the.
Internet is awesome and retarded. People care about what Isaris is doing every second. Of the week which it makes me cry she gets a bullet in the head it. Makes me cry that people care about such senseless things They don't care about space truckers. I'm better now.
Vote for space truckers. All right. So I think we're going to go out with a little robot love. So that's a good way to wrap it up, I'd say. Anything else we want to pass along?
All right. We will get the hell out of here. Otherwise, that about does it. We will return next week. Same geek time, same geek feed.
Thanks for listening. Thanks, guys. Bye. Bye. Muchas gracias.
Don't forget to buy extra power cells. Power cells. The Wombatik Sun Duck Shine. I am the deluxe model crime buster. There is nothing, nothing that can stop me.
