Guess who? It's 10 o'clock. Do you care where your parents are? The following feature has been rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America. It is intended for mature audiences and parental discretion is advised.
The Coast Guard. And the Navy have been alerted and are standing by on the eastern seaboard. It continues to burn out of control. It has been regular. Every five to ten minutes there has been another convoy of units, fire companies, paramedics.
A citywide emergency has been declared. Police officers are still on tactical full alert. 2,000 National Guardsmen are standing by. Air defense warning read. It's time for Movie Meltdown's Attack of the Killers soundtrack.
Live transmission has begun, and we're into the final. Hour of hell. What's up? We're welcome to Movie Meltdown's Attack of the Killers soundtrack. I am Brian, and with me this week is.
Justin Kammerer, slash Angry Blue. I was going to say, I didn't know what street name you wanted to go with. I usually don't know either. So anyway, we're coming to you live via digital recording from Fourcastle Festival. We were playing a festival.
Jazz Blues Festival. Where was that? Blues Jazz, really. Blues Jazz Festival. It was in the Isle of Lucy.
The Isle of Lucy. Isle of Lucy. Jazz Blues Festival. You are an artist. A pretty exceptional artist, I would say.
And one we've been trying to scam into doing some movie meltdown artwork. So that's still in the works, though. Indeed. I have. Since the last one, I've come up with another idea that I think would be awesome for you.
So I'm backstocking them now. Too many awesome projects for you. But in addition to that potential item, you've also done this year's forecastle post. Yes, it was super flattering that they asked me. And I kind of put it together almost very last minute because I had a project that was driving me crazy for about five weeks. and I'll be able to show that next weekend at San Diego Comic-Con.
Nice. Very excited about it, and I was really glad I was able to kick this out for them here, and I think I will be able to do it next year as well. Very cool. How much direction were they given? It's usually a nautical theme, so was that all they gave you?
That was it. I know the direction. I've been excited about Four Castles since it was in Tyler Park. Tyler Park, when I was going to it. And there were like four people there.
Yeah, I think I've said before, the music of that one was like one guy with an acoustic guitar by that little tunnel that runs in between. Yes, definitely. And that was it, and there was some art hanging up in the park, and that was pretty much it. So it's come quite a ways since then. Oh, definitely.
I think the first night here was... The first show had 200 people, and then the first night here had 30,000 people. A little bit of a jump. So that's like seven more people, because I'm really good with math. That was the Friday night, too.
So yeah, what was last night? Yeah, I don't even know. That had to be amazing, because. I was crammed in the middle of the Jack White crowd there, and it was out of control. So, I guess, other than the previously mentioned, do you have any big projects you're working on right now?
Um, I've got some goofy stuff that I'm doing for a couple of clients like Facebook and Microsoft that somehow mistakenly found me and then now I get to make terrible things for them. Yeah, at this point, cash in on that. Oh, definitely. I don't trust them, but I'll take their money. Always.
Um, and then next week I think I get to show at Comic-Con and then I'm going to try to take a few weeks off and not take on any new jobs and just, uh, I've got a queue of like 15 things I want to do at my print shop. Oh, yeah. And I would like to draw something new stuff for me that's not for a client. But I don't know what that feels like anymore. Yeah, really.
After a while, I guess you lose control of that. The past several weeks have been insane. Good morning, everyone! It is 7 o'clock here in Canyonland, USA. And this morning, on the boulder, we have a very special guest.
Look, we have a special guest. Tell them who we are. Hi, I'm Miss Happy Pink. I'm terrified to be on the air. Woo!
Have you enjoyed this weekend? Yeah, it's been. A lot of fun. A lot of work, but a lot of fun. This episode, we're kind of doing a crossover with movies and music since we're at the festival here.
So, do you have a song worked into a movie that you're a big fan of? I've got to admit, this is probably like crazy nerdy, but I totally love the soundtrack to Juno. Nice. All right. It got a lot of love.
It got a weird backlash, but I think people are coming back around to it now. And then Scott Pilgrim, another soundtrack that I pretty much love almost every song on. First up, which one on Juno? What's your favorite one on Juno? I don't know if I have a favorite one.
Pick a random one. Oh, I don't know. I'm not good at this. I usually listen to things while I'm working or while I'm printing or while I'm doing something. So it's not like I pick one song.
It's just a soundtrack or a album or a musician because I don't have the time to kind of walk. I should probably create playlists. That would be the smart thing. I kind of like it when it's random. I like just sort of either going with the album as a whole or just throwing it on the mixed up option there.
So that's what we'll do now. We'll just randomly pick a song from the Juno Sound. If I was a flower growing wild and free All I'd want is you to be my sweet honeybee And if I was a tree growing tall and green All I'd want is you to shade me and be my leaves. Guitar solo. If I was a flower growing wild and free All I'd want is you to be my sweet honeybee And if I was a tree growing tall and green All I'd want is you to shade me and be my leaves All I want is you, will you be my bride Take me by the hand and stand by my side All I want is you, will you stay with me Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea.
Thank you. If you were a river and the mountains tall, the rumble of your water would be my call. If you were the winter, I know I'd be the snow, just as long as you were with me when the cold winds blow. All I want is you, will you be my bride? Take me by the.
Hand and stand by my side. All I want is you, will you stay with me? Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea. If you were a wink, I'd be a nod. If you were a seed, well, I'd be a pod.
If you were a floor, I'd want to be the rug. And if you were a kiss, I'd know I'd be a hug. All I want is you, you'd be my bride. Take me by the hand and stand by my side. All I want is you, you stay with me.
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea. If you were the wood, I'd be the fire. If you were the love, I'd. Be the desire. If you were a castle, I'd.
Be your moat. And if you were an ocean, I'd learn to float. All I want is you. Will you be my bride? Take me by the.
Hand and stand by my side. All I want is you. Will you stay with me? Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea. And then back to, you know, Scott Pilgrim.
So, Scott Pilgrim, you've got the tie-in. It's all back. So, what's your favorite Scott Pilgrim? See, that's another one. I can't pick.
I don't have favorites. I'm, like, ultimately indecisive. I like all of the things. Everything. You just love Sex Bob-Omb.
We are Sex Bob-Omb, and we're. Here to make you think about death and get sad and stuff! I hear the voices, enemy voices The tremble of cool, the feminine of the soul Reaching. My threshold, standing picture to the blind My. Body's stupid, stereo putrid Spilling out music in the road to wish Reaching my.
Threshold, standing picture to the blind My threshold, my threshold. I'm hearing voices, even in my tears. white tears, the cream of a cream, the feeling. In a vision. I'll meet you on a threshold, stand up and shoot till I'm blind. My threshold.
I'll explode. I'll meet you on a threshold. My threshold. Bye. Bye.
It's like asking me to pick my favorite dessert. It's just not possible. I like all of the. Cram them all into one big pile. Yes, exactly.
I understand. She's picking all kinds of crazy things over here. Angry Blue is a little bit different. When he's working, he is a little more specific with his music. Very.
Very specific. Obnoxiously. It's obnoxiously specific. But now I'm kind of addicted to podcasts, really. It's really sad.
I'm like, I'm not getting peripheral information at all times. It does take over your life. That's how I ended up here. In a very short amount of time, I went from kind of listening to a few to listening to a ton of them and then having one. So it takes over your life.
So you're kind of stuck at a party that you want to leave, but you just can't. Well, my sad thing is like even here, I should be out there listening to Ray LaMontagne, which you can probably hear in the background, but I'm sitting there going, we really got to set up the whole rest of this part here and I want to get this half. Of the show. So I'm I'm, like, orchestrating the way that the rest of the show needs to go while I should probably be paying attention to Ray out there. Well, you can definitely take a break from staying in my skull dungeon here at Forecastle in the American Poster Institute section.
This is the best place to be. What are you talking about? I love your creepy style. Thank you. Someone is dancing with cheesecakes.
Well, that seems fitting. She did just profess her love for sugar, so I guess dancing for... Cheesecake action is the way to go. So then we'll throw that question to you. We're doing music that has worked its way into movies.
What is one of your favorites that is sort of a soundtrack kind of song? Oh, I can't do songs. I can do soundtracks, though. I've been staring at this Natural Born Killers poster all weekend, and the way that soundtrack bleeds into that movie, it's like another character in it. It definitely is.
Anytime that soundtracks can be another character in a television show that completely changes the context, or if you just know the intention of the song, like if you recognize a song and know that it's a ridiculously clever moment or a use of that, I love that. We can go one way or the other. We can go the slow version. We can go like Cowboy Junkies. We can go Patti Smith, the much more hardcore, angry version.
I don't know. Which way do you want to lean on this one? It depends on the day. I mean, right now we're in the middle. I'll say angry because my name's Angry Blue.
That's true. That's your tie-in. I'm not even allowed to have my own opinion. I'll tell you the name of the song, but I'm not allowed to say it. And I have no guilt as to pleasure as to the nerves under your skin.
And now I trade the. Lairs for the scroll of ancient redness. We worship the floor, the belly, the belly, the mole on the belly of. An exquisite whore. You spare the child and.
Spoil the ride. I have not stolen. Baby, baby, baby, what's a rock and roll nigga? She baby was a whore. You know she got big.
Well, she's gonna get big ass. Baby got her hand, got. Her finger on the trigger. Baby, baby, baby, it's the rock and roll. Those who have suffered understand suffering and thereby extend their hand.
The stone that brings harm also makes further. Blessed is the grass and earth and. The tree of thorn and light. I was lost in the valley of pleasure. I was lost in the inner sea.
I was lost in that moment. I'm the dot, and the cost was to be a doctor's aide Chicken and juice, I was a nigger Jesus Christ and Grandma too Jackson. Pollock, I was a nigger Nigger, nigger, nigger, nigger, nigger, nigger, nigger. Normally i freeze up with microphones it's good i keep them as ridiculously conversational as possible as i think you've heard once or twice yes yes that's pretty much all we do is ramble i think it works better though yeah. If there's like some fun and actual conversation and uh chemistry injected into it it works so much better.
I mean there's i don't know i listen to ones that are like super hardcore interviews and like I don't know. They're so weird and awkward. And not that I'm not weird and awkward. I certainly am. But that needs to come through.
The sincerity of the weird and awkward as opposed to just having to be that way. That is who I am. So I'm fine. I'm not going to pretend to be anything else. Speaking of my weird and awkward conversations, we're going to go.
I'm going to go pick up Christian here in a minute. Some of you may remember her from previous episodes. And we're going to go talk to the guys from Houndmouth. Awesome. We'll enjoy it.
Have a good night. I think that's the plan for now. In the meantime, where should they find you? You can find me at AngryBlue.com. And if you want to tune in next weekend during San Diego Comic-Con, I should be able to show the ridiculous thing that I've been working on for about a month and a half.
Nice. What about that other character over there? And you can find Ms. Happy Pink at MsHappyPink.com. Unfortunately, that is the soundtrack of the website at all times.
Oh, and if nothing else, I guess we want to also thank Fourcastle for letting us loiter around here and. For you to sell posters, which you've done really well this weekend. Definitely. And we'll talk about future stuff. Definitely.

Sounds better. Hey, creeps and ghouls, this is Captain. Clegg from the Halloween 2 movie, and you are listening to Movie Meltdown. All right, so we're here with the guys from Houndmouth. I guess go ahead and introduce yourselves.
I'm Zach. And I'm Shane. What are your roles in the band? I play bass, and I play drums. All right.
You guys are, was everybody from New Albany? I'm from Clarksville, which is like a town over. Yeah, yeah, same five-mile radius. Yeah, which for those of you not from. This area, it's maybe a ten-minute drive from Louisville, but for some reason.
We're at war with each other. Right, right, yeah. Louisville won't acknowledge New Albany, and New Albany hates Louisville. I don't understand, because we're all kind of the same thing. Right, right.
That's why we did the Boomtown thing a couple, was it last month? The Boomtown? Yeah. We tried to get people from Louisville over to Indiana to see that it was actually not the hellish place they think it might be. Yeah, half of the people on the show are from Indiana, so we've got a good mixture.
Oh, cool, cool. We straddle both sides of the river, so it's okay. Nice. So I guess, how did you get together as a band? I guess that's the usual question for you guys, I'm assuming.
Well, I was living in New York at a job and got fired and moved back home and Matt and I, the guitarist, we started jamming together, just the two of us and. So we were thinking we should. Get some more people in it and Zach and Matt had played in cover bands for years and Katie and Matt had done an acoustic thing for a few years, and those have all kind of disbanded, so we all kind of just joined forces. Came together. Yeah, very unintentionally, because I wasn't even really kind of part of that circle.
I know Zach and I and Matt and I used to play poker in high school, but just through mutual friends, we didn't really hang out. It was usually a hatred for Shane because he always took my money. Oh, yeah. That still holds to this day. Yeah, yeah.
We gamble away our PDs like we don't need to eat that day or something. You still owe me ten. Yeah. Yeah, I'm sure of it. Well, I guess, what were your influences musically at that point?
Or growing up, I guess? Well, I know all of our parents were, you know, kind of in that 70s culture, so, you know, Kind of the golden era of rock and roll. All of us, you know, like the Rolling Stones and the band. Katie's really big on some Motown. And I like some old country.
It's kind of a mutt of all the things. Yeah, my dad was really heavy into, like, Parliament and Sugar Hill Gang and all the funkier stuff. He used to speed skate. He'd go down to Florida, and he's actually in competitions to speed skate down there. He called it boogie skating when they would play the funky records and uh i guess do the mashed potato and shit i don't know it's not enough boogie skating i don't know i agree we need to bring that back.
I agree yeah like speed skating like ice. No like speed skating four wheels and just as fast as you can go around the track. Yeah. Cool guys at the park with the sweat bands. Yeah.
Right. Yeah. He's got a picture of him in the short shorts from when, from when he used to live in Florida and he's tan as fuck and he's got his skates on and he still has those beat ass old skates. That's amazing. One day we'll pass them on to you.
One day. Yeah. One day. I can't wait. You have to start practicing.
Right. I don't know. I just put mops on my feet at home and start going around the kitchen, I guess. I don't know. There's this guy and, uh, I went to Indiana State for a year, and there was this guy that lived on my floor that had those, and he could do all the moves, all just stationary.
Oh, really? All the, you know, kind of like the sea walk kind of thing. It's like break dancing almost. Yeah, exactly. It's an art form.
It's a smooth, lost art form. And we'd always, we'd go get drunk and go knock on his door. He wasn't very social, and we'd be like, hey, go show off. So just come out here and do the moves. Well, yeah, because he was in his dorm room practicing his moves, you know, for such an occasion.
Yeah. It's like Roller Girl and Dirk Diggler. Boogie Nights. She had other special skills too. I think she had a few others that we won't mention.
She was very gifted. Are you going to take your skates off? I don't take my skates off. As the guest, we'll play some of your stuff. Most of our listeners are pretty with it.
I'm sure they're familiar with it. But if not, what's a good intro for the band for you guys? What's a good song to go with? What's a good song? Penitentiary, actually the only album we have out right now, seems to be our single, if you will.
Yeah. Yeah, I would say that's a good starting point. Kind of paints a picture for what we kind of. Do, I guess. Hit a batch in Frisco couldn't score a job so I did the next best thing and I learned how to rock I took that trade to Houston but.
I couldn't get away. From the five and dime about the time the constable would say. Music Playing the stud in the evening On a solitary. Night Leone has the cigarettes and Capone has got the light Now I'm shifting squares with a man from Arkansas He took my rook, oh lord, my king's about to. Fall guitar solo Come on now, to the penitentiary Oh mother, the law of the king is crashing down on me Yoo hoo hoo Yoo hoo hoo Yoo hoo hoo.
Thank you. I'm calling from a payphone Down around Lawrence Bend I got me a parting son Gonna do it all. Again Come on now. To the penitentiary Old mama, the lock came Crashing down on me. You guys have gotten.
Pretty big in the last few years. What kind of a turnaround was that? Because, I mean, how many. It's only been, what, three or four years since you were just here probably working a job? Yeah, well, it's been a little less than three years that we've been together.
And South by Southwest was the big turnaround for us. We went down there and got very fortunate, met the right people and said the right things, I guess. And things just started happening for us. It was great. And I wish that Chris was still here because he's... a big reason that we did anything at all.
We were just practicing at Shane's place one day, and he said, you guys should put some of this stuff on the internet. And so we started to, and then we started to put everything on the internet. And he's like, okay, okay, that's enough. That's enough free shit on the internet. yeah yeah and so uh there he is right now there he is right speak of the devil and he shall appear talking. About when you started uh telling us sort of what to do when we were just putting songs up on on soundcloud yeah.
Just a little you know just a little help here and there um snowballed obviously but turned into a great role i think. Yeah yeah I mean, there's so many bands out there, and there are ones that you see that are really impressive, and they just never make it. I don't know, what do you think is that dividing line? Is it just meeting the right people? It's luck.
It's complete luck. Luck and, you know, we practice, I don't even know how many hours a day. And, you know, so, I mean, yeah, there could be, and there definitely are way better musicians and bands than us, but, you know, it's just timing matters. And we got lucky. I laugh about it every day.
It still cracks me up. You guys are pretty damn good. And you've got a pretty good run these last couple of years as far as. You went on Conan and Letterman. Yeah, yeah.
Letterman is like my idol because obviously the weird... guys host their own show. So he's, you know, I have to idolize him. It gives me hope. Well, and he is a Hoosier, so. Oh, yeah.
Well, you know, it's funny. Some people claim that. He was kind of rude to us, though. Was he? That's what I was going to ask.
What were your experiences? He was, well, I guess kind of isn't even really the way to go. He was very rude to us. He said maybe two words to us. Well, we did Conan first, and Conan was very, like, he came to watch a sound check, and he was involved, and all this.
Conan's pretty personable. Exactly, yeah. And then we go on Letterman, and we can't even speak to him. Again, this doesn't surprise me. That's kind of the way he seems to be.
It probably leads back to his eccentric personality. Is that it? Again, I think that it's just one of those weird dynamics that sometimes they work so well when the camera's on, and as soon as they're in their spot, and then once you hit them in their personal life, or the other side of the camera, they're just. A whole different person. Well, I mean, don't get me wrong, it was a lot of fun still.
We're very fortunate to have done it, but. What's that theater, as far as playing in that theater like? Oh, man. Freezing cold. Yeah, seriously.
That's the running joke on that show. Yeah, they keep it like 42. They're like, it's going to be cold. Get your shit together and dress warm. Yeah, it was crazy.
Zach and I run hot, and Matt and Katie run cold. So there's always this battle war. Between the air conditioning and the van. And Katie usually sits up front and makes it a cool 86 degrees. Sweet lord.
And we're all just sweating. Our proverbial balls off. Proverbial. Proverbial. You have nice proverbial balls.
A nickel for every time I. Look who I see over here. JK and the mayor just walking by. Casually. Casually.
Just cruising the grassy knoll. Yeah. That's not a good thing for someone in that kind of power to just be walking around in a grassy knoll. As we all know that turns out as we all know we know how this story. Is so now a single bullet remains a single bullet now has to account for the remaining seven wounds and kennedy in.
Common yeah that's kind of what we do here is cross over the movie and music you know blur those lines yeah i guess what what are some good ones for you guys as far as that that perfect song. That fits in with the movie we were just talking about easy rider before we started recording and you know, with the weight going on. You know, when you hear that song, you kind of just think of America and just kind of being free and wide open spaces, and that depicts it perfectly, them just on motorcycles somewhere in Mexico or on the border. ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶ ¶. ¶ ¶. Where I can leave my head Hey mister can you tell me Where a man might find a band He just grinned and shook my hand No was all he said. Take a load off Fanny Take a load for free Take a load off Fanny.
And you put the load right on me. I picked up my bag I went looking for a place. To hide. When I saw Carmen. And the devil walking side by side.
I said, hey, Carmen. Come on, let's go downtown. But my friend can. Stick around Take a load off Fanny Take a load for free Take a load off Fanny And. You put the load right on me.
Go down, Miss Moses. There's nothing you can say. It's just old Luke and Luke's waiting on a judgment day. Well, Luke, my friend, what. About young Annalise?
He said, do me a favor, son, won't you stay and keep Annalise? Take a load for free. Take a load off plenty. And you put the load right on me. Crazy Chester followed me and he caught me.
In the fall. He said, I will fix. Your rat if you take Jack, my dog. I said, wait a minute, Chester. You know I'm a peaceful man.
He said, that's OK, boy. Won't you feed. Me when you can? Take a load off, daddy. Take a load off Manny.
And you put the load right on me. Catch a cannonball now to take me down the line. My flag is sinking. Low and I do believe it's time to get back to Miss Fanny. You know she's the only one.
Take a load off, Annie. Take a load off, Annie. And you put the load right on me. Oh, speaking of Mexico, I just got into the Tarantino movie when they play down in Mexico by the coasters. What film is that?
I think it is. I think it's when she does the sexy dance. Oh, yeah. Don't stop me, Mike. I'm Butterfly.
My friend Jungle Julie over here says that jukebox inside is pretty impressive. Yeah, it is. Yeah. Why don't you go get ready for your lap dance? Down in the mix of Cali, there's a crazy little.
Place that I know, where the drinks are hotter than. The chili sauce, and the boss is a cat named Joe. He wears a red bandana, plays a groove piano, and a honky tonk down in Mexico. He wears a purple flash and a black mustache. And a honky tonk.
Well, the first time that I saw him, she was a-sitting on a piano stool. I said, a-tell me when does the He wears a red bandana Plays. A cool piano In a honky. Tonk Down in Mexico. He wears a purple.
In a hockey tub Down in Mexico In Mexico. All of a sudden in walks a chick In Mexico Jo starts playing on a Latin kick In Mexico Around her waist she wore three fishnets In Mexico She started dancing with the castanets In Mexico I didn't know just what to expect In Mexico She threw. Her arms around around my neck. In Mexico. We started dancing all around the floor.
In Mexico. And she did a dance I. Never saw before. So if you're sour from the. Border, I mean down in the middle.
Of the coast. And you want to get straight, man, don't hesitate. Just look up a cat named Joe. He wears a red bandana, plays a cool piano In a honky-tonk down in Mexico. He wears a purple sash and.
A black mustache In a honky-tonk down in Mexico Hey! Yeah, no, who was the guest on Letterman? The woman. Oh, Selma Hyatt. Yeah, Selma Hyatt.
Yeah, yeah. And George Clooney and Oh, is it From Dusk Till Dawn? Yeah, From Dusk Till Dawn. That's where. Down in Mexico it's from?
Where they're down in that cantina. I thought it was Tarantino. I guess I thought it was the. Tarantino's in that, too. I thought it was the Grindhouse.
Maybe I'm mistaken. No, it's Grindhouse. It could be wrong. It's pre-Grindhouse, sort of. Pre, yeah.
That one's... What is that one? No, but that's a great... That made the Coasters album just self-titled. And it's so good.
We were listening to that yesterday, coming back from Cincinnati. That's what I had on. Oh, yeah. But he wears a red bandana. Yeah, that's a great tune.
Rhyming bandana and piano. I mean, you can't go wrong. But I digress. We should, I guess. Now I'm just thinking about Selma Hyde.
Yeah. That will distract you. Yeah. We were sitting up in the green room at the Letterman thing, and she was... Nice enough to go outside.
And there's this rail they set up where the fans all get behind. And she was nice enough to go out there and talk to a bunch of them. And when she did, we're up in the green room. We hear this fucking roar. And people are screaming, what in the hell.
Is going on? We look out the window. And sure enough, it's her. And all the guys are leaning over the couch. I mean, can't get close enough to the window to see her.
You know what happened to that, though? I was just going out for a smoke. Yeah, I'll bet you were. And I just walked out. It just timed.
We came through separate doors to go out to the exit. And I was just right behind her and like her posse and I was just going out for a smoke and so I'm sure I'm probably in the background in some of those pictures like smoking a cig like hey what's up? Nice. It's just stalker photos of you. It is stalker photos.
These are evidence now. Yeah. Lurking in the background. Have you seen the movie Duet? Is it Duets?
Or Duets? Duets. With Paul Giamatti and Danny Glover is it? Is it Danny Glover? Is it?
I don't know. Maybe I'm just making that up. But they turn like these corny, not corny, like classic songs that have just been overplayed and they do them acapella. Have you seen this? Yeah.
They do them acapella and they make them just amazing. Really? It's crazy. Do you have it? I don't have it.
No, I've only seen it once but I was blown away. Get it. The very last song they do is, I think it's Tuesday's Gone is the very last song they do acapella and it's just, yeah, it's sick. It'll always make me think of Happy Gilmore. Yeah.
I mean, that's, It's funny how songs are related to scenes in movies because they're just, it's like, well, that's the perfect fucking song right there. There's nothing else I want to hear at this point in time while watching Happy pull up to his grandmother's new home. And then Chubbs looking down from heaven. Yeah. Train roll on On down the line Won't you please.
Take me far. Now I feel the wind blow. Outside my door. Means I'll leave my woman at home. Oh, my baby's gone with the wind Oh, baby Oh, baby Oh, baby.
And I don't know. Oh, where I'm. Going I just want to be left alone. Well, when this train moves. I'll leave him out for a moment.
We'll be right back. Thank you. Train roll on A minute miles from my home. Seattle I'm riding. My blue wave.
Yeah. But today, you see, she. Had to be free. Yeah. Bye.
Bye. Bye. Commission time. If leaving, please replace your inner car speaker before releasing brakes or starting motor. Do not back out.
Drive to the aisle in front of you and exit. And now, for those remaining.... Want some music for your ears? Doo-Wop Shop makes it easy to rent for any event, business meeting, or special occasion. In Louisville, find them either at their Highland Store at 1587 Bardstown Road or in the East End at 2915 South Hurstburn Parkway. And look for them online at DooWopShop.com. Doo-Wop Shop. We're serious about music. Hey there, this is John Doe, and this is Movie Meltdown.
Very glad to have you along. We have lots of exciting things to talk about tonight. Since they're not here, let's talk about the other two. What do they play that you're like sick to death of? What, songs?
Yeah. Well, not sick to death, but... Or are you stuck watching movies? Because I was talking about that with other bands that are like, they're out on the road and they're constantly watching movies. We switch up movies really well, though.
We don't switch up music because we all have our iPods or our phones or whatever, and we plug it in whoever's driving. You can tell who's driving, yeah. Katie will play every Delta Spirit song she's ever heard. Jay usually goes for the band. Anything by the band.
Yeah, Jay's always hip to the newer music. He is. We're always like, who is this? Yeah, he introduced me to The War on Drugs. Their new album is fantastic.
Red Eyes? Is it Red Eyes? God, that track is just so good. Well, then what movies do you sync up on? What's that?
Everybody can actually watch while you're out touring around. What movies do we watch? Yeah. Oh, gosh. We just finished Sharknado.
Yeah. Oh, well, there you go. Classic. Yeah, yeah. Just the best acting there's actually a movie called The Lonesome Dove that is a western and I'm the only one in the van that likes westerns but I got to reading the description of it and it's a six hour long western we.
Have it recorded onto VHS The Lonesome Dove? at my parents house do you really? Yeah well don't tell me how it ends because I've only seen the first three hours of. It it's intermission time is. That what it was? Yeah there's no way it could have been a movie two DVDs yeah Yeah.
That's insane. On the Sharknado, we did just see Tara Reid a couple weeks ago. Oh, nice. It's arguable. Sort of.
She was like. She's a special girl. Yeah, I had a thing for her back in the day when I was younger. Yeah, like American Pie and stuff? Yeah, yeah.
She was a babe. I mean, she still is a babe. I mean. Some of the things she's done to herself, I don't necessarily agree with. That's what kills it.
I know. Because she was a beautiful girl. Why would you mess with any of it? She did some weird things to herself. I think we've all seen that picture, right?
Yeah. Yeah. It depends which one. Where the Wolverine attack happened, it looked like. There's the Franken-nipple.
The Franken-nipple. And then there's also the weird stomach thing going on. Yeah. That's not right. That's strange.
It looks sad. The thing is, I think. Her stomach looks sad. We decided she got most of that taken care of because she was there like super bare midriff. Like she was showing all that off.
Here's the creepy thing. Like it went way low on the pants, really high up. We could not find the belly button. Yeah. Well, I mean, there's only so much you can do, I guess.
Did they fill in? I don't know. With the tummy tuck, a lot of times they end up cutting it off. Yeah, it's actually above her nipples now. At least just get a Sharpie and fill.
That spot in. Something's got to give. You thought it was a nipple in her chin? No, it's her navel. Is that a birthmark?
No, it's not. I saw it on Reddit. This guy was born with no areola. It was just the bitty. It was just the teat.
And he got tattoos. Oh, yeah. So he got his areola tattooed on? See, sometimes they're actually doing that with reconstruction now for, like, survivors of cancer. They'll go back and they can put the rest on, but they can't make that look right.
Right. They tattoo it. Yeah. It's kind of awesome, actually. It really is.
It has to do a lot for somebody's self-esteem. Oh, yeah. I would want nipples. I mean, Zach's been wanting, you know, to get his nipples fixed for a while now. Yeah.
And you feel you should. Yeah, mine leak. My nipples leak constantly. I didn't want to mention the wets. Yeah.
Thank God this is a podcast. We can take pictures of this. Yeah, yeah. We can document this. Let's make something happen.
They look like sausage patties. Denny's. They're just so big. Leaky sausage patties. And lumpy.
It's sad, really. Well, I'm not a good sales pitch at all. Lumpy nipples. That's actually my nickname in the van is lumpy nipples. Lumpy nip.
Yeah. I want to see that in the next line or not. And we digress. Yeah. What was the question?
Movies. Movies. Oh, yes. Terry. Terry.
No, she got us off track. Yeah, right, right. In other news, the Prime Minister of Sweden visited Washington today, and my tiny little nipples went to France. I don't know. Anything else of that type that you're into?
Older movies, new stuff? I don't know. What do you guys usually gravitate towards? Um. Well, we run through a lot of movies.
We were on the road a lot, and we ran through a lot of movies. But we always go back to Blue Velvet, American Psycho. The ones that we consider to be classics. Blue Velvet, there's the song for me. Blue Velvet.
Because I can't hear. Well, either like that or the Candy Color Clown. Yeah. I can't hear that. There's no other way for that song to exist now except...
Exactly. Dean Stockwell doing it into a light bulb. Right. I can't hear it in any way. Right.
Lynch claimed that song. A candy colored clown they call the Sandman Tiptoes to my room every night Just to sprinkle stardust and to whisper Go to sleep, everything is alright I close my eyes Then I drift away. Into the magic night I softly say A silent prayer like dreamers do. Then I fall asleep to dream my dreams of you In. Dreams I walk.
With you. I talk to you In dreams. You're mine All of the time we're together In dreams, in dreams But just before. The dawn. I awake and find you gone.
I can't help it I can't help it if I cry I remember that you said goodbye It's. Too bad that all these things. Can only hurt All right, let's hit the fucking road. Yeah, but that's good. We don't really have anything we can get our hands on.
For a while, we got. Into these B-horror movies where you can get like 20 of them on a DVD for 60 or 70 cents nowadays. Yeah, it was great. Occasionally, you run into some gems on there. What was it?
Castle Freak. Oh, my gosh. It's full moon, isn't it? Yeah, like one of the early full moons. Yeah, yeah, Castle Freak.
Castle Freak. Castle Freak. We have this voice now. Or you just can run up on somebody and act all weird and just go, I'm Castle Freak, what's up? And three people get that reference.
Exactly, yeah. I don't know why he turned out so feminine. They're all in the band. Exactly. I have that problem myself.
We just look ridiculous. We reference stuff all the time. We'd be like, what is wrong with you? Never mind. I think we've been trying to, since we watch so many movies and we stop so often that...
We kind of got into Seinfeld. I downloaded, like, the whole series. We were watching a bunch of Seinfeld. Those are great, you know. You can take a break.
Offshoots. I like trying to go back and find them all before they were in there. Got, like, Kramer in UHF. Elaine's in Christmas Vacation. Yeah, yeah.
You can go back and find all of them. Oh, that's right. She's that bitchy girl. Next door, Margo. That's right.
I totally forgot about that. My family watches that every year during Christmas. George is a pretty woman. That's sort of simultaneous. Just the no shit part.
No shit. Hey, Griswold, what do you plan on doing with a Christmas tree that size? God, what a great series of. All the National Lampoon vacation movies were great. Yeah.
That first one is amazing. Yeah, that's the staple in my family is the original. I do come back to that soundtrack, too, like Holiday Road. Holiday Road? Are you kidding.
Me? Holiday Road. I can't believe anymore, I can't believe. Take a ride on the West Coast kid. Holiday road.
I found out long ago It's a. Long way down the hard day. Road Oh, God. The dog went on the picnic basket. Didn't they write that for them?
I think they did. Did they? I don't know. Did they? Because that's so entertaining.
Yeah. That scene where he walks through the desert and he finds his family at the convenience or whatever, the gas station. And he looks at them and goes. Hey, kids, you thirsty? That cracks me up every time I think about it.
You'd think he'd be, like, awesome for him to be your dad, but it would actually just. Probably really suck. It'd be really terrible. You'd be, like, rusty all day long. Well, especially since the kids are different.
In every movie, so it. Makes you wonder, like, Did he lose his kids in between times when you see them? Right. And just, like, go pick up new ones? Multiple wives.
Oh, yeah, that's what it is. He's funny in Community, too, Chevy Chase. I've watched that show quite a bit. Oh, yeah, yeah, I've seen it a few times. Have you watched The Venture Brothers?
I think that might be. I think I've just pieced together what keeps happening to the kids. I haven't. If you watch The Venture Brothers, like, after a while, like, towards one season, spoiler alert for The Venture Brothers if you haven't seen it. At one point, towards the end of the season, he's got these two teenage sons, and they just die at the end of the season.
And they're kind of the main character. You're like. the hell are they gonna do next season well he's this weird scientist and he just keeps cloning new kids and he's been through like 40 different kids because they constantly like get in some sort of horrible accident and he's like he's the worst parent ever so he kills his kids all. The time hopefully it's not like cloning multiplicity where they keep getting dumber and dumber oh god these are. Just messed up clones on the vacation series they keep coming out looking. Different so you're suggesting that clark w griswold is a weird scientist well he kind of is because yeah he does Make the lacquer for the cereal.
The coating. That seems like a mad scientist to me. I don't know. Any other songs that stand out? Starting to draw blanks.
I know, me too. Any for you? I just keep thinking of Tara Reade's boobs. I got to think that when I think of soundtracks, one of my weird favorites is the Dumb and Dumber soundtrack. Oh.
I don't know why. I think it just kind of. Encapsulates, like, the 90s in a weird way like Crash Test Dummies are on there there's this weird like reggae bop song. Who sang the song Mary Mo or whatever. Oh it's called what's it really Dead Eye Dick sings it yeah it's called New Age Girl.
I've got a new age girl Tell us what she's like Viral mentalist and girl Does she ride a bike? She has a crystal necklace. She spend a lot of cash Though her. Vibes are rather reckless She's heading for a crash Or a flowing skirt is blowing in a transcendental wind And she wonders without knowing Where did we begin? Mary Moon She's a vegetarian Mary Moon, Mary Moon Mary Moo will help through all the septuagenarians.
Mary Moo, Mary Moo, Mary Moo. Oh, she loves me so she hates to be alone. Don't eat me, but she's all like the bone. You know she. Drives a wind car.
How does she like it? It doesn't get her far. Why she doesn't bike? I don't know where she's going and I don't know where she's been. All I know in loving her has got to be a sin.
Mary Moon! She's a vegetarian. Mary Moon, Mary Moon, Mary Moon. Well, I love all the septuagenarians. Mary Moon, Mary Moon, Mary Moon.
Oh, she loves me so she hates me alone. Don't eat me, but you sure. Like the bone. Don't hesitate. Don't segregate your thoughts from your emotions.
I know devotion isn't... way up there. All the septuagenarians Mary Moon She's an intellectual. Mary Moon Despite. That That remains quite sexual. Mary Moon.
First time I shed eyes on Mary Swanson, I just got that old-fashioned romantic feeling where I'd do anything to bone her. I walked around the house singing that when I was little, and my mom was like, do you know what it means, to bone? Yeah, it's like, she doesn't like meat, but she sure likes to bone. Yeah. No, I have no idea.
Oh, my God. You know they put that out on vinyl, right? Wood buy. Wood purchase with all the money that I own. I seen you over there.
Yeah, that's the one that I, for weird reasons, will go find on Spotify. When's your birthday? December 14th. There it is. I'm going to get it for you.
What's your social security number for all the awesome listeners right now? How can we contact you? We're just looking to get a hold of you, really. Well, I guess we can round out the movies there. What do you guys have as far as plans for the rest of this year or are big stuff coming up for you?
We're leaving tomorrow to do like an eight-day tour, just short and sweet. And then we get in the studio in August and we're going to be working on our new album, which will come out sometime next year early, hopefully. And then we're low-key pretty much the rest of the year. Yeah, and tour... Probably forever when that comes up.
Yeah. How is the touring for you? A good part or a bad part? I mean, it's a necessary part. It's great.
Is it? Yeah. It's fun and, you know, I think once we get home from a long tour after a couple days, we're like, okay, let's go do it again. Yeah. Once you just recharge your batteries.
After a while, it is tiring, but, you know, it's what you do. It's what you signed up for, you know? Yeah. Well, I guess what's the best way for people to find you? Should they just go to your website or just find out more about you or music or any of that?
Yeah, just houndmouth.com or Facebook. Or come see a show. Yeah, come hang out. Yeah, we'll be out there selling merch afterwards. Hanging out.
Might be a little loose. Drinking some beers. Yeah. And tell them you heard on Movie Meltdown. Right, right, right.
If you mention Movie Meltdown, you get a free picture with Shane with his shirt off. I might cash in on that. I'm into this. There's no nipple issues? His nipples are pristine.
Now we definitely need to fix them. I work them out. Very intense. Electroshock therapy. White and dodgeball.
You want that, don't you? You ever listen to K. Billy's Super Sounds of the 70s? I think it's funny how. Anytime you mention soundtracks, it always seems to go back to Tarantino films.
That's kind of his thing. Yeah, and he just picks songs that are so perfect for that moment. Well, again, he just leeches on to his upbringing there, raising himself in a video store like he did. So all he did was watch. Old weird movies, so he's always doing those movie references in his own movies.
But again, he's sort of into that same... old soundtrack thing so it's either pulling songs from old soundtracks and actually reusing them in his or just the old records and stuff that he liked at the time so it's kind of right coming. Around it's pretty amazing because and it's kind of like it's kind of like zach was talking about like how you know you think of a song and all you can envision is like one particular scene in a movie and i mean that i don't know how many times that happens like anytime you think of a tarantino film it's like okay, you're thinking of what's going on in that scene, but then also that soundtrack is just automatically playing in your mind. Yeah. He's got a knack. He's a weird dude, but he's skilled at making films and putting together an awesome soundtrack.
All right. Well, I think we will go out with one of yours. So what's another good song to round out the episode with? I don't know. Shano?
Let's sing it out with the one Zach sings called Hey Rose. All right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. All right. Well, that'll do. Thank you for sitting in with us. And yeah, we'll definitely send everybody out there to find you.
And go listen to your music. For sure. Thanks for having us, man. Yeah, I appreciate y'all. And with that, I will remind you, get a life, we'll provide the sound.
I guess you better get up and go back to the lonely deserts westward out of Hillsdale, Arizona where the girls will treat you friendly sure but only if you want to steal a ride from. The riverboat captain tonight hey there oh did. You think I'd come all this way in Maine. Is getting hotter but i start to. See the light and i think i might pull over just to stop here for.
The night i see her coming up and i know she won't give me a fight and so i start to make my move and splash my face up. With some water and she tries to pull. Me off but then it only makes me hotter can you spare some change for the night. Did you think I'd come all this way in vain? Drive down to the center of a coal mine town.
Wash your face and change your frame of mind. In hard times, you better store away your nickels and your diamonds. Throw them around. Thank you. Did you think I'd come all this way in vain?
Drive down to the center of a coal mine town Wash your face and change your frame of mind. In hard times, you better store away your nickels and your dimes. Throw a rope around the big old tree. Did you think I'd come All this way in vain. Drive down To the center of a coal mine town Wash your face and change your frame of mind And hard.
Times You better know your nickels and your diamonds. Yeah. Can we do it with or without the shirt? Yeah. This episode is a production of Movie Meltdown, produced and edited by The Oddity Studios.
