Guess who? It's 10 o'clock. Do you care where your parents are? The following feature has been rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America. It is intended for mature audiences and parental discretion is advised.

This is not a drill. Repeat, this is not the drill. At this time, we are requesting the immediate and orderly evacuation of the vicinity. The Coast Guard and the Navy have been alerted and are standing by on the eastern seaboard. And it continues to burn out of control.

It has been regular. Every five to ten minutes, there has been another convoy of units, fire. Companies, paramedics. A citywide emergency has been declared. Police officers are still on tactical full alert.

2,000 National Guardsmen are standing by. Air defense warning read. It's time for Movie Meltdown's Attack of the Killers soundtrack. Live transmission has begun, and we're into the final. Hour of hell.

What's up and welcome to movie meltdowns attack of the killer soundtrack i'm brian and i'm christian and we are coming to you live a digital recording from the grassy knoll here at forecastle festival we are currently parked on. A That's pretty much what it is. Grassy knoll. It's the grassy knoll. Does it say that on the map?

I don't know. Let's ask that guy with the sniper rifle over there. So we are, in fact, coming to you from the Forecastle Festival. Once again, we were here last year and had a really good time and did a nice episode, I thought. So I thought we should do extra coverage and come back here this year.

So what are your thoughts on it so far, Christian? So far, it's been a good time. Like, I'm... Pretty surprised on how roomy it is and that there is, in fact, a grassy knoll for people to throw frisbees and take naps. It's one of my favorite things about this so far since it's moved down here to the waterfront.

It's just you don't have to be packed in with people if you don't want to be. If you want to be crammed up at the stage, you know, right up there by the people, you still can. But you don't have to be. You can just kind of hang back and watch the show and still the same music. not so many people jammed up against you. That's always a plus for me.

Yeah. I think it's pretty amazing that there's four stages, uh, usually packed with artists simultaneously and there's still room to move around and, you know, see what you want to see. That's what I was telling you yesterday. I was like, I think that's my favorite thing. Just wandering around.

It's pretty nice. Eventually I stopped and watched like the specific band we were going to talk to. And we watched the closing numbers last night, but a lot of the middle there, I was like, let's just wander around. And Let's go see what's over here and go see what these people are doing over here. There's always weird people doing weird stuff.

Well, yeah. I appreciate that. It's equally as entertaining as the music is watching people. I'm sure they say the same about me, so it's okay. I'm really hoping that we see the huge Hunter S.

Thompson again tonight because that was so amazing. I think I mentioned him last year. It's one of my favorite things here. And the giant director's chair that they sat him in. See, I didn't see that.

I don't know if they built that since last year, but that's a new thing. For me, that's the first time I'd seen that one. They parked him in the giant director's chair. That was awesome. It was pretty great.

I'm wondering how long we can go without getting hit by a frisbee. Crazy frisbee people. At least there's no hula hoopers in the general vicinity. Yeah, they're all up near the stage. Those hula hoop girls are out of control.

Yes, it's hula hula everywhere. From the parties of the Park Avenue Smart Set to sweethearts who want to be married in the swing of things. All right, well, we should kick things off. You being the co-host of this musical episode, I thought you could pick a song this time. So what would you like to fire things off here with?

I know this is kind of cheating since we just saw Jack White last night, who was the headliner. I have to state the obvious. We were going to be friends. The song from Napoleon Dynamite. All right.

It's just a pretty great song. Fall is here, hear the yell, back to school, ring the bell, brand new shoes, walking blues, climb the fence, books and pens, I can tell that we are. Gonna be friends. I can tell that we are gonna be friends. Walk with me, Susie Lee Through the park and by the tree We will rest upon the ground And look at all the books we found Safely walk.

To school without a. Sound Safely walk to school without a sound. Here we are, no one else. We walk to school all by ourselves. There's dirt on our uniforms from chasing all the ants and worms.

We clean up and now it's time to learn. We clean up and now it's time to learn. Numbers, letters, learn to spell. Lines and books and show and tell. Playtime, we will throw the ball.

Teacher marks our hand against the wall. We don't notice any time pass. We don't notice anything We sit side by side in every class. Teacher thinks that. I sound funny But she likes the way you sing Tonight I'll dream while I'm in bed When silly thoughts go through my head About the bugs and alphabet When I wake tomorrow I'll bet That you and I will walk together again.

I can tell. That we are gonna be friends. Yes, I can tell that we are gonna be friends. I mean, everybody, you know, there were so many people singing along and, you know, it's just a very endearing kind of song. So, I don't know.

I just thought that was kind of neat. Nice tie-in. Good tie-in, since, yeah, we did see him last night and he's pretty badass. As usual, Jack White doesn't mess around, like, When he gets into his songs, he's kind of ferocious. Yeah, like it was pretty amazing to me.

He did a cover of a Hank Williams song. And forgive me because I don't remember which one it was. And it was kind of funny to me because it was like, I like covers. I wasn't totally sold on whether or not I liked that one. It was just really cool that he can do a song in the same style and still sound like Jack White.

You know, there's no, like, masking the fact that he sounds like Jack White. Yeah, I mean, there are people, especially when you're doing covers, and they're so identifiable. You start to, you know, either, if you're not mimicking their voice, you at least, like, their cadence sometimes. Sure. Like, you're doing Dylan, sometimes you start to do Dylan.

But, like, I don't know, Jack White, he's done a good amount of covers. And, like, they're usually always Jack White. Yeah, he's very Jack White. What was the other cover, notable cover that he did? Actually, we can work that in as well, because in the middle there, actually, it's midway in because he like the last half of the show was.

In like encore mode. Right. He wrapped up really quick. And I was like, is he really done? Like, I knew he wasn't really done, which I'm like the people packing up their blanket in front of us.

I was like, OK, guys, really? Have you been to a concert ever? Like, he played for a little while, and then he said, thank you, good night, and they were packing their stuff up. Well, she was also, like, taking a nap on the blanket and being all pregnant and stuff. That's no excuse.

That baby needed to hear some. Jack White reverberating through the ambionic fluid. Right, right. All the sound waves turning into ambionic waves. But midway into his, he came back out, he did several of his bigger songs, and kind of bust into.

Thank you. Yeah! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Which, I can't believe we've gone this far and not played it on this show. I will never forgive your ass for this shit. This is some fucked up repugnant shit. Alright, so we also have special guests on this episode. I did sit down with the Wands, and if you are not familiar with them, you definitely should familiarize.

Yourself, because they are actually really good. I saw them yesterday morning in play, and they're pretty awesome, and I like their take on trying to cross over with movies and I like all their experiences. They tied them to their personal touring habits and vehicle. So I think we should go now and talk to the wand. I ain't never been I ain't never been I ain't never been I ain't never been Way down.

Here Alright, so we're here with the Wands. I guess introduce yourselves, guys. I'm Simon. I play guitar in the Wands and sing. I'm Thomas.

I play bass. I'm the other one. I'm Mark. I play drums. I see you have braces too.

So, how have you found it here at 4Cast? It's awesome. I love it. It's our second festival that we've played. We did a hangout last time and it's an awesome festival.

Great line-up. And Kentucky's awesome, or Louisville's awesome. How long have you been doing this as this band? For about three years, I think. Right, Mark?

Three years? Yeah, about three years. Maybe right at two years ago, put out the EP, released a couple singles, and new record's about to come out in September, so gearing up for that. Doing this, and then doing a run of shows in August. Very cool.

And then I guess going back further, I'm assuming you've been playing all of you most of your lives. So what, what were your early influences? Uh, probably, probably the kinks and the Beatles. And then my parents listened to a lot of Van Morrison growing up. So yeah, I always had that in my ear, but yeah.

It's all sorts of stuff. I really loved. I mean, definitely my dad was like a huge zombies fan and, and, uh, I mean a lot of sixties mod stuff that I heard growing up, but, uh, pretty my parents were not one financially sound people as I was growing up so so I kind of like learning to play and things like that just they had they had old literally vinyl records around that was like kind of the best thing I'd come up with about like 13 14 years old. Yeah same for me just. Raiding my parents record collection i think physical graffiti and the white album and you know started there.

Mine was a little more like my parents were more like like this like odd funk driven thing there was like so me like learning to play was like all right well my parents have like average white band on and so you know it'd be like. Who's that lady and. Like just Just me, like 14 years old, trying to figure out how to play that stuff. That's good, actually. Who is that lady?

Yeah, I really wanted to figure out who that lady was. Have you figured it out yet? Well, you know, I think I'm close. Oh, God. I missed her again.

But yeah, that was fond memories. Then while we're getting into your sound, I guess I'll let you guys pick. What song of yours should we play for them right now? I think I can't fix you. Yeah, I think that's a bad idea.

I'm just kidding. Is that a bad idea? That's a very good one. Bye. Always on the run.

Tell me, love, what's been done to you? Time to let it go, but you don't know where your head is due. Ah! No one turns me on Your arms are. Full of scars Darling, try to find a window Behind these bars I'm screaming.

Times we are. Alone Any weird backstory? Do you have one of those 15 minute unplugged stories where you sit down and go, well, it was a long time ago when I started writing this. Oh. Well, I was sitting in my coffee room and he was sitting there listening to Coldplay's I Can Fix You and he thought, what would this song sound like if it was completely opposite?

You're like, I can fix that. I can't fix Coldplay though. No, it was, yeah, we all usually write together. Like, it all starts in, like, acoustic guitar, and we just meet in my living room every Sunday and just bang out a song. It's a favorite one of mine.

Sunday night music club. His dad would always kind of head up the little writing session that we would do. His dad was a good person to sort of create a positive headspace. I don't know. Fun and it's like, all right.

We get through the first verse and the first chorus, and then we can have a drink. It's a reward system involved here. Exactly, a reward system. Yeah, we write a verse, then we have a whiskey or a bourbon. Or a gin.

Gin and tonic's our drink. That's not my drink. Which is what we're on today. I'm a straight tequila guy, personally. Tomorrow's the big day.

So get your rest. No late night parties, drinking tequila and trying to get lucky. So yeah, we kind of do the little crossover of movies and music. So I guess I was going. To have you guys pick some of your favorites of times, you know, songs that come up in movies or on soundtracks that were just like your favorites over the years.

I don't know, but we watch a lot of Jackie Chan movies. What is the soundtrack? We actually quite literally watched Jackie Chan's First Strike on the way to. Watch some Dumb and Dumber. You know, lighthearted.

A big problem with that is we have VHS in the van. Yeah, we got a copy of Dumb and Dumber on VHS. I'm watching it on the drive up. Red right hand, Nick Cave comes on. And that's like Nick Cave's favorite line.

That one sneaks up on you. Yes. Take a little walk to the edge of town And go across the track. Where the viaduct looms like a bird of doom As it shifts. And cracks Where secrets lie in the board of fires In the humming wires Hey man, you know you're never.

Coming back Across the square, across the bridge Across the mills, across the stack. On a gathering storm comes a tall handsome man in. A dusty black coat with a red right hand. He'll wrap you in his arms, tell you that you've been. A good boy.

He'll rekindle all the dreams that. Took you a lifetime to destroy. He'll reach deep into the hole, heal your shrinking soul. But there won't be a single thing that you can do. He's a God, he's a man, he's a ghost, he's a guru.

They're a-whisperin' his name through this disappearin' land. But hidden in his coat is a red right hand. You don't owe no money We'll get you some You don't have no car Get you one. You don't have no self-respect. You feel like an insect.

Well, don't you worry, buddy, because here he comes. Through the ghettos and the barrio and the barrio and the slum. His shadow is cast wherever he stands. Stacks of green paper in his red right hand. Oh, oh, oh.

Thank you. Thank you. You'll see him in your nightmares, you'll see him in your dreams. He'll appear out of nowhere, but he ain't what he seems. You'll see him in your head on a TV screen.

Hey, buddy, I'm warning you to turn it off. He's a ghost, he's a god, he's a man, he's a guru. You're one microscopic cog in his catastrophic plan, designed and. Directed by his red right hand. Thank you for watching.

Thank you. Odd that it's in that one, too. And then it's in that movie. It's in that one. Not The Scream.

I think we referenced it on the show in Scream before. But, yeah, I forget. Dumb and Dumber. What a weird place for. It to turn.

Yeah, when we were watching, I was like, what? Nick Cave's in this? I forgot this was in here. That's very strange. Yeah.

So are you excited for the sequel? No. I watched Dumb and Dumber. I'm definitely going to watch the sequel. Not good.

I just saw the trailer, and now it just kind of makes me sad. Right. They just look so old now. Well, I mean, that's, yeah. It's been 20 years, and it looks like it's been 20 years.

But good cinematic moment with a great song. Where Is My Mind, the Pixies at the end of Fight Club. Definitely. Oh, that's right. Phenomenal.

Stop. With your feet on the air, your head on the ground. Try to strip and spin it. Yeah. Get rid of the lies that there's nothing in it.

And you'll ask yourself, where is my mind? Where is my mind? Where is my mind? We're at the end. Where is my mind?

We'll be right back. Where am I? Where am I? I think I'm losing my mind, no? Tweaked Audio, your source for high-performance, noise-reducing earbuds.

Sounds better. This is Zach and Shane from Howmouth. And you're listening to Movie Meltdown. Movie Meltdown. Shane's got a really good movie announcer voice.

Welcome to Movie Meltdown, in a world of total darkness. There's plenty of good ones. I'm trying to think. I can't think of any song specific at this moment, but one of my... Tears of Fear, Donnie Darko, absolutely.

There we. Go. Exactly. That's one of my favorites, that they do that cover, when they do that cover of Tears for Fears, that's like ten times more powerful than they sound. Like, there was a weird song to begin with, and that cover goes so much darker.

Wasn't that on Dumb and Dumber as well? I think it was. There's a weird dumb and dumber crossover going here. Probably. It all comes.

Back to the Shaggy Wagon. Yeah. I wanted to be with you alone And talk about the weather But your patience I can place against the child in your face Won't escape my attention You keep your distance, me the sister of touch And gentle persuasion I'm lost in admiration. Dude, I need you this much. Oh, you're wasting my time.

You're just, just, just wasting time. Something happens and I'm head over heels. I never find out until I'm head over heels. Something happens and I'm head over heels. I don't take my heart, don't.

Break my heart. Throw it away. Throw it away. I'm waiting for you. I'm waiting for you.

Thought of your future. We're one foot in the past now, just now. Now, now, now. A few now. My mother and my brothers used to be the kids.

I've been dreaming, I'm adopting. It's hard to be a man when there's a girl in your life. Oh, I feel so. Something happens and I'm head over heels. I never find.

Nothing happens and I'll let it all burn me inside. Don't take my heart, don't break my heart. No, no, don't throw it away. This is my. La, la, la, la, la.

I'm trying to think of some songs that were in. So our last fan that we had, it got totaled, but it came with a copy of Patrick Swayze's Dirty Dancing. Nice. Which was a VHS copy. And what else did it come with?

Ants. And a copy of that. And Finding Nemo. And I did not watch... Yeah, I watched them all.

Yeah, I watched them all. It's just watchable. It's DreamWorks at its finest back in the day, but... It's gotten better lately. It's still my favorite movie of all time.

What about Bob? You like to go sailing? I do love to go sailing. Look, I'm sailing. I'm sailing.

Well, yeah, I guess just some good movies. It sounds like you watch them on the road, so just tie into movies. I like a lot of Guy Ritchie's movies, like Snatch and Lockstock. Lockstock is pretty music-oriented. He works a lot of that in with his crazy editing.

Yeah, all of his music is great in them. Definitely. That song, Spooky, that's in Lockstock. Yeah. It's just goofy and amazing as that song is.

It's like tenfold in that soundtrack for whatever reason. It's just so perfect. Is getting kind of groovy you call me up and ask me would i like to go with you and see a movie First I say no, I've got some plans for tonight. And then I stop. And say alright.

Love is kind. Of crazy with a spooky little boy like you. You always keep me guessing. I never seem. To know what you are thinking.

And if a girl looks at. You, it's for. Sure your little eye. Will be awaking. I get confused.

I never know where I stand. And then you smile. Spooky. I'm gonna tell you Just like a ghost But now I know He's always got like every single movie. Do you know the band Specials?

Yeah. Yeah, he always puts one of those tracks in there. I kind of like that. Those directors that just kind of... They're not even hit bands, but you can tell it's their favorite band and they will just work them in over the years.

That's always kind of cool. I remember as a kid when Pulp Fiction came out and Urge Overkill's... Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. See, that's one of those that it is weird when they...

There's so many period piece kind of music. I was thinking that with Dirty Dancing. It's the same way. It's all this music from the era and then... Pulp Fiction, he's stealing all this era music, and then he'll re-record this.

So there's two or three. That were like modern people, but then there's all this other stuff he's pulling out of like 60s and 70s. That one's really cool. Girl, you'll be a woman soon. I love you so much, can't count all the ways I've died for you, girl, and all I can say is he's not your kind.

They'll never get tired of putting it down and I never know when I come around what I'm gonna find. Don't let them break. Up your mind. Don't you look at it. There'll be no one more soon.

Please. Please. Come take my hand Girl. You'll be the one I'm missing You'll be the one. I'm missing You'll be the one I'm missing.

I've been missing the. Soup for all of my life Over this. Thing, you'll get cussed like a man The boy's no good Well, I finally found what I'm looking. For But I beg you, the chance of ending for sure. Surely it would Baby.

How God I could Now. It's up to you. Kid There'll be a woman to say Please. Come take my hand. Girl, you'll be.

Alone soon Soon, you'll need someone You'll be a woman soon Please Come. Take my hand Girl You'll be a woman soon Soon But soon You'll need. One more. Yeah, Quentin Tarantino puts a lot of good music in his. I mean, everything.

It's hard, yeah. Even the movies that you're like, I kind of like that one, but the soundtrack is bad. Although, let's be honest, the original version, like Neil Diamond... What? Neil Diamond doing, girl, you'll be a woman soon.

You shut your dirty mouth. You shut your dirty mouth. Fight, fight. Did you ever watch, what was that newest Quentin Tarantino movie he did with Jamie Foxx? Django?

What did you think of that? I didn't see that. I liked it. I thought it was fucking awesome. Yeah.

I mean, it's one of those, like, you, it's, he's a weird filmmaker because it works on so many levels. Like, it works as a fun movie at moments, but then, like, if you want to go into the subtext of, like, this horrible commentary on, like, slavery and racism and racism within your own race. And like, it gets way deeper than it should. And like, it can also just be him shooting people. It's a lot of fun and deeper than that.

Yeah. Cause again, he, well, there's the Django theme song that kicks in. It's like, Django! Django! Have you always been alone?

Django! Django! Django, have you. Never loved again? Love will live on, oh Life.

Must go on, oh For. You cannot spend your life regretting. Django Django, you must face. Another day Django Django, now your love has gone away. Lost your lover, oh, oh.

Now you've lost her, oh, oh. But you've lost her forever, Django. When there are clouds in the. Sky, Under the showers the sun will be shining. Oh, you've lost her, oh, but you've lost her forever, Django.

When there are clouds in the skies and they are gray. After the showers the sun will be shining. And again, I've forgotten, he does that with everything. Like, he drags out old movies, old bands, you know, like, everything and kind of just plays his favorite stuff. Yeah.

He definitely likes it to be very, very intriguing. He's an eclectic guy. I think I'd be friends with him. I tend to rate celebrities and famous people based on whether or not I'd be friends with him. I think I like him as a director more than having to sit next to him all day long.

He gets so hyper. He might really shock a person. I don't know. After a while, you might be like, Quentin, really? Stop.

He could really be terrible. He goes on a lot of uppers or something. You never know. Maybe he's an Aryan race kind of guy. I don't know.

Maybe there's all sorts of weird things about him. Wait. Lay off on the Aryan jokes. Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend the Aryans.

On that note, Inglorious Basterds. He works in that awesome David Bowie out of nowhere. That was the best transition ever. Speaking of Nazis, anyway, cat people. Colder than the moon It's been so long Feel my blood enraged It's just the fear Of losing you Don't you know my name Well, you've been so long And I've been putting on fire.

With gasoline See these eyes. So red. Red like jungle burning bright Those who feel me near. Pull up lines and. Change their minds.

It's peace or love. Still this pausing night A blank echo. A heartbeat Just be still. With me. You wouldn't believe.

What I've been through You've been so long And it's been so long And I've been putting out the fire with gasoline Putting out the fire With gasoline. See these tears so blue. An ageless heart. That can never mend These tears can never dry Judgment made can never bend. See these eyes so green I can stare for a thousand years.

Just be still with me. You wouldn't believe what I've been through. It's been so long. Well, it's been so long. And I've been putting out the fire with gasoline.

Putting out the fire with gasoline. . So long. So long. So long. So long.

So long. So long. Thank you. Oh, wow. That's an awesome movie.

That is. And one that I remember at the time, I knew several people that hated that. Because it's like, it's the one that's like totally out of context. It's out of the time period. It like breaks that wall.

But to me, like I don't have a problem with that. Like if the song works, it works. Yeah. So, yeah, I thought that was cool. What's that quote that Brad put in that?

He's like, we're in the business of killing Nazis. In business, it's a booming. Fucking awesome quote. Yeah, man. Any other movies that are favorites?

Uh. Dear Lord, there's so many favorites. Did you see Four Rooms? Yeah, Four Rooms is great. Four Rooms is cool.

Godfather, too. When he plays it at the end, you're like, oh. Oh. See, I'm trying to think. Mark, I know one of your favorite movies is Fried Green Tomatoes.

Do you have anything to say about that one? No, I just have a soft spot for the Whistle Stop Cafe. That's good. I really do. Do you favor one half or the other?

Because I'm okay with the flashback part, but then you get the old ladies arguing. Go back to killing guys in the past. That part was cool. Right. Sort of seems like Stephen King at that point.

What is this, Dolores Claiborne 2? Yeah. It's very strange. I'm trying to think. All sorts of movies we could talk about.

Have you seen anything lately? Have I seen anything lately? Tell you what, as odd as it is, I fell asleep within the first 15 minutes of trying to watch Milo and Otis the other day. That's not even a joke. It might be a joke on me personally.

I keep hearing the story about that. How they made that. Have you heard the sad tale? Don't tell me there's a real sad tale. Do you want me to not tell you?

Because it's horrible. I kind of want you to tell me. I don't want you to ruin my childhood. Okay, then I'll shut up. I'm not going to promise the listeners that I won't openly read.

Don't Google things about my childhood. I won't. I don't even know. I've never seen it. What?

What is it? I don't know. I've never seen it. It's where one guy sadly narrates the whole thing. And it's the character of all these animals that are running around.

You haven't seen that? No. These animals are crazy. You need to watch that. And Homeward Bound.

I've seen Homeward Bound. It's basically that, but it's cooler and earlier. There's only one person doing every voice. Anyway. I'm sorry.

You were going to say. I think that was throwback to the Disney. They always had that weird narrator guy that was narrating. Dogs on adventures. Right.

Disney made a lot of weird animal movies there in that 60s and 70s. That guy stayed in his basement apartment until he got that call from Disney every time. Oh, man. I'm a big fan of a lot of Gene Wilder movies. Oh, yeah?

See No Evil, Hear No Evil, him and Richard Pryor. That's one towards the end, too. I always liked that one. They got big with Stir Crazy and Silver Street. There's so many good quotes in that movie.

Blazing Saddles. It was written for Richard Pryor. Written by Richard Pryor. I think they were afraid he was just going to push the envelope a little too much. Cleavon Little.

Yeah, do it. That's one of those, yeah, you watch that now and you're like, they can't make this movie now. Like, they could never make this movie again. That's amazing, though. Thankfully, it's written by a black guy and a Jewish guy.

So they think they have the license to make fun of everybody. They kind of did. They kind of did. It made it okay. Okay.

He rode a blazing saddle He wore a shining star His. Job to offer battle To. Batman near and far He. Conquered fear and he conquered hate He. Turned dark night into day He made his blazing saddle A torch to light the way When.

Outlaws ruled the West And fear filled the land A cry went up for a man with guts To. Take the West in hand They needed a man who was brave and true With justice for all as his aim Then out of the sun rode a man with a gun And Bart was his name Yes, Bart was his name He rode a blazing saddle He wore a shining star. His job to offer battle To Batman near and far. He conquered fear and he conquered hate. He turned dark night into day.

He made his blazing. Saddle a torch. To light the way. Yeah, I'm a massive fan of Richard Pryor, that Brister's Millions, the remake of the original. Oh, yeah.

Yeah, I always loved that movie. It was good. Have you seen Bustin' Loose? There's one for the list. It's pretty fun.

It's almost... He has serious moments in that. It's pretty good drama for him occasionally. It's him. He gets stuck driving a busload of kids.

Can you imagine Richard Pryor trapped on a bus with a bunch of kids? It's not going to go well. But it's not one of the wacky comedies. It's not... It's not moving.

Oh, man. Bustin' loose? Bustin' loose. That's the way to go. Hell yeah.

Oh, man. I think that's all the movies I can think of. Cool. Well, what plans do you guys have for the rest of this year? Do you have big stuff coming up?

Yeah. We've got a little tour coming up in August, and then the next festival we do is Austin City Limits, which has never been to Austin, so that'll be cool. Oddly enough, we have a ton of listeners in Texas. Do you really? Yeah.

And I just assume it's the coolness of Austin and everywhere it's spread outwardly. Because, yeah, I have no idea why otherwise. It's like, I think it outnumbers here. And I, like, work here. And I'm, like, putting flyers out here.

And, like, yeah, Texas. We run into that with the band, though. I mean, Europe, the U.K. and Spain, got a bunch of followers. And then Brazil and Mexico, yeah. Yeah.

In a lot of South America. That's awesome, because I'll bring up our stuff sometimes and be amazed that there's people in Iraq. And I'm hoping these are troops or something. And then I'll get ones in Denmark and Australia. And I'm like, how do you find?

The internet is an amazing thing. But yeah, it's cool when it kind of crosses over. And music always kind of does that. Music seems like it transfers over to other languages and other countries pretty well. It does.

But uh and i guess also where should people come find you what's the best. Way to get a hold of you probably probably just on facebook and then we got a website thewandsmusic.com. Or come walk around nashville you might. See it our finest in nashville yeah yeah. But you can you can uh hear everything released on on bandcamp you can find it on itunes spotify all that stuff yeah uh and and the new record will be the same all the major outlets to find it you'll find.

Us what's the best way that's working lately i've heard a lot of people referencing bandcamp more than itunes lately. Great uh Because it's a direct service where we control it. Yeah. There's no middlemen. That's awesome.

They've been good to us and it's super simple. Very cool. Very cool. And if you can't make it there, go listen on SoundCloud. Anywhere.

Just find you guys. Come find you guys. See you live. Yeah, see us live. We'll be in New York.

We'll be there. And then we'll be in Philly. We'll be in Raleigh. We'll be in Charleston. We'll be back in Louisville.

Yeah. Some venue called The New Vintage. Have you been there before? Yeah. Actually, we recorded an episode there.

Oh, cool. There we go. We'll be back through here in a month. Very cool. Very cool.

I've heard The New Vintage is very cool. And the guy that, the guy we were in contact with, a man named Hunter, he was really, been pretty nice so far. They've been kind of cool just working with people and putting together really cool. The event we did was, it was West Fest. And it was all these bands that were covering songs from Wes Anderson movies.

So it's like everybody kind of picked. Everybody picked their favorite. We forgot to bring up Wes Sanderson. We forgot to bring up Wes Sanderson, yeah. Everybody picked.

I did just go see Grand Budapest. Yeah. I haven't seen that yet. It's his best so far, I think. It's amazing.

It's the best place I want to see. I think so. And I went back and last week re-watched Star-Tailing Limited. Star-Tailing is fantastic. I love Rush.

Rush from Aquatic Life. The life aquatic you mean? Aquatic life. It's a watery life. It's sort of aquatic.

Fantastic. Yeah, his stuff though. And again, somebody who just draws from music. His attention to symmetry and his obsession with it. He's super colorful as well all of his.

Shots yeah that's why I said the stop motion animation was probably like the perfect medium for him when. He switched to that I was just like fantastic Mr. Fox fantastic Mr. Fox yeah because I was like he can. Control every minute little detail like it's perfect for him because you know that's what he wants he gets it most of the time anyway but.

Yeah you can tell he's very controlling and at the same time you can tell that everybody's like well it works so don't just do what he asks. Yeah, don't mess with this system. It's where it comes from. All right. Well, thank you guys for talking with us.

Thank you so much. Thank you. We'll come find you out on the road. Cheers, man. Cool.

Our pleasure. Thanks. Hey there, this is John Doe. You're listening to Movie Meltdown. Glad you are, because otherwise you'd be wasting your time playing some stupid video game.

It had a VHS. That's amazing. Was it one of those console ones, like the combo? That I don't know. I know the one we borrowed when we went to Chicago one time had a built-in VHS.

So we, like, drag out, like, Evil Dead and Army of Darkness on VHS. Oh, that's so amazing. We were watching that on the way to Chicago. Yeah, my family, I grew up, you know, with my family driving, like, Chevy custom vans and stuff. And we always had, like, the center console.

It's like, it was usually a combo VHS and television, and then we would hook up the Nintendo to it. Yeah. Oh, back in 1968. Television. Now an amazing Technicolor.

Oh, so yes, thank you to the guys from The Wands. They are awesome, and go check them out. As he said, they are touring around now, so go find them in your area. I thought as far as working in another reference for this weekend, we are, in the near future, going to be watching The Replacements. So I thought, what better way to work them in than to play Can't Hardly Wait from Can't Hardly Wait.

Can't Hardly Wait Or are you a lover tomorrow? Tonight I can't hold a pen. Someone's got a stand that I can borrow I promise not to roll the dress again That flash in the evening Through a crack in the faith Jesus rides beside me. He never buys any smokes. Hurry up!

Hurry up! Ain't you had enough of this? up for this stuff. Ashtray floors Dirty clothes and filthy jokes. See you're high and lonesome Try and try and try Lights that flash in the evening Blue world in the dreams I'll. Be home when I'm sleeping I can't hardly.

Wait I can't wait. I can't wait Hardly wait I can't wait Hardly. Wait I can't wait. Hardly wait I can't wait. Damn, woman, why you gotta be such a raging bitch?

Well, I have to say, as much as I've kind of liked this experience, everybody I've seen and talked to has been really thrilled with it. Like, again, usually you go to things and people just kind of bitch the whole time. And usually it's probably us. But I've been surprised, like, meeting other people here. There was a weird guy standing next to me talking on the swing over there a minute ago.

And he's from Chattanooga, and he was talking about how much they loved it. And I walked past this, and yes, I'm profiling here, this hippie girl earlier. But her quote as I'm going by was, this is the best festival like this I've ever been to. And I'm like, I, again, by her looks, I'm assuming she's probably been to a lot of. Shows like this.

I'm stereotyping, yes, I know. But, again, I'm doing that for the best purpose there, because I'm assuming she's been to a lot of festivals like this, and I just, this one is very well put together and operates well. Better than most things I've been to, I must say. Oh, yeah, definitely. I mean, the organization is very commendable.

And, I mean, even last night, like, as we're watching a band, they had people going around picking up garbage. And, like, that's not something that you normally see. You know, normally it's, like, you know, at the end of it. It's just a wasteland of litter. Right, right.

And then you have all these people converging, trying to pick up stuff. And they were actually picking up recyclables last night. So you had people, you know... picking up different things and so I don't know I just thought it was I just thought it was kind of cool because you know it's a very nice area to have the festival and they keep it nice just. To be this size operation it's yeah it's pretty impressive that it runs as smoothly as. It does well and we were discussing last night too the different kinds of people that that are here I mean there's just such a mix there's not like one certain demographic there's so many different people from so many different walks of life and You know, everybody's able to enjoy themselves.

I think even a little more diverse than last year. I kind of called them out last year for having a bunch of white people. But this year, you know, I've seen even a little more mixture going on. So, yeah, there's old and young and hippies. And there were some goth girls wandering around last night.

And there's just a good mixture of all kinds of peoples. Today, I'm noticing a lot of children, too, which. It's not always at these kind of festivals. Right. And you don't always want to bring them to these kind of festivals, but...

It seems like a pretty safe environment, you know, for kids today. I haven't really seen it being, like, horribly gross. I mean, you think about things like, you know, when they brought back the Woodstock Festival and it was nothing but, you know, girls taking their tops off and people getting in fights and people lighting things on fire and rioting and people getting trampled. And, like, this has been, like, such a nice... Again.

It's out of character for me to be amongst this many happy people, but it's... it's impressive actually to have this many people crammed into a space and not too cramped, obviously, but I don't know. It's amazing how well everybody gets along and how much this is. We're watching these guys climb a tree. Cause they lost their Frisbee very close to the top. It was really funny to watch the progression of events because we're far enough away where we can just kind of watch from afar and And there's a couple sitting underneath enjoying their time.

He's a nice button-up kind of guy. Now this guy's scampering up the tree like a lemur. Like a lemur. As soon as the frisbee went in there... Oh, he got it out.

But as soon as the frisbee went in there, leaves fell on the guy's head sitting underneath the tree. And he just looked so disturbed by the fact that there were leaves in his hair. A good example right there. Look how they all teamwork. They got together and.

Teamwork makes the dream work. What's going to work? Teamwork. All right. I guess we've definitely had enough praise with them along the way, so we will at least plug them.

You can go to forecastlefest.com, and next year you can be right here in the middle of this. Throwing your frisbee in a tree with them. I gave up politics a long time ago. You know, let somebody else march. I want to play frisbee.

All right. So once again, since we had guests this episode, I thought we would let them take us out. So I will go back to the guys in the wands and let them pick the song to round out this episode. What's the next song? We should round out with one of your songs, guys.

So what's the other one? I'd never win. Be the other one. Way to go. We got a video in the works for that.

So very cool. Anybody listening in Texas, I'm sorry. There may be an offensive word or two. Hey, that's all we do on this show is curse. We had to come up with our own new rating because they weren't covering it.

This is rated F for fucked. One of my casts, I had to give their own specific rating because they're so constant with the obscenities. All right, and with that, I will remind you, Get a Life will provide the soundtrack. Thanks for listening. Thank you.

Thank you. No, there's nothing you could say. No, there's nothing you could say. When the lights of the city start to dim and the sun, it burns your skin. We'll be right back.

Deutschland! Deutschland! They're big fans of the German national team. We watched the World Cup, sorry. And they did phenomenal this year, so sorry for all you Argentina fans.

Cool, thanks so much. Now the Nazi references all make sense. Oh, God. This episode is a production of Movie Meltdown, produced and edited by The Audity Studios. For more on how to sponsor or support the show, email producer at moviemeltdown.com.
