All right, so this week's movie threat is a continuation because the last time, well, it's two ago technically, but one of the last ones I saw in the real world was very sort of kid-oriented, and you guys were like, you didn't buy that? What the hell's wrong with you? So then yesterday, actually, I ran into this movie, and I was like, first of all, I wasn't going to. Then I saw the cast line up, and I'm like, damn it, all right. Mostly for you guys.

I got Dear Dracula. Oh. Now looking at it, I'm like, this animation is going to be terrible. So I almost didn't blow the very minimal investment. Look at the, skip the second one, but read off the cast list there for voice actors.

Let's see. We've got Ray Liotta. Oh. Ariel Winter. Done.

Emilio Estevez, Matthew Lillard. Oh, Matthew Lillard. Okay, just for the voice actors, I'm going to have to watch this thing. Well, now, okay, no, this little bit of propaganda at the bottom of the front cover here has me intrigued. What would happen if you wrote Dracula instead of Santa?

See, that was the first thing that got me. I was like, all right, I like this premise. I might want to watch this dumb kid's movie. And then I saw the cast line up there and I was just like, all right, fine. We're going to at least discuss it on this and then we'll see if somebody wants to put it on the list.

Oh, it sounds adorable. I bet my nieces would like this. They like mildly spooky things. How did that just with that cast just fly under the radar. Well, again, cause I'm guessing the animation's probably really bad.

So I'm sure this had no other investment. It was like, they just somehow suckered Ray Liotta into it. And I don't know, Emilio woke up that day and wanted to leave the house, I guess. He doesn't do a whole lot now. He wants to direct and that's it.

So how they suckered him into doing voiceover. He's like, I don't have to be on camera. I got a lot of mighty duck stuff to make and I don't have time for you. But Matthew Lillard, you know, he, He'll just show up. He's super cool.

That's what he does. I think he's one of those guys where he's in that stage where he makes movies that he thinks his kids would like. Probably. And I'm all for that. I love him.

Again, that one time I saw him, he was just He was okay with the normal people, but he connected with those kids. I can see that. That one, like he was at his table. I think I've told this before, but he was at his table signing. He was in the middle of talking to somebody and stopped and went, hold on.

There's a kid walking by dressed as Shaggy. He came out from behind his table and stopped him and knelt down and talked to him for like five minutes while the other person's still just standing there. I was like, normally I'd be upset if I were them, but dude, you just went because you saw a Shaggy kid and you wanted to go talk to him. I was like, that's so adorable. That really is.

Yeah, he was just so into it with the kids. Like, he really liked the kids, loved him as Shaggy and Scooby-Doo stuff. Well, that's why I was going to ask if the kid was at least familiar that Matthew Lillard had played shaggy i would assume he was just like i'm not supposed to talk to stranger danger get away he's like all right you've seen scream then good for you. But yeah so that that was a nice tie-in so it's like just that cast alone i was like all right or at least i'm going to have it now whether or not we work it into an episode is up to you Have you watched it? Oh, no.

I just got it yesterday. So it's just going to go on the pile and sit there for all eternity. Like all of these movies I keep buying that I don't really have time to watch. But if we do watch a movie, we then usually talk about it and say amazing things like this. And it is about a group of high school students, none of whom is played by an actor who is remotely under the age of 25.

So like every high school thing ever that was shot i did that like i literally had to go read up on it afterwards i was like but you how did you because it's been 10 years like she's playing the same little kid character movies are. Supposed to distract you. From reading this one forced me to i was just like man But don't worry, that'll come back around and pay off. Oh, no way. Oh, my God.

Yeah, in other words, we have an interesting subplot that's dark. That could be a thing, but it's never explained at all. You know, at one point, that sort of makes sense because you're like. And then there's something... That has kind of attached itself to him in the house.

Something. So scary. There's no tigers. There's goats. Goats.

Okay. But literally by the end, Pierce and I both were on separate corners of the couch with our knees like tucked up. like covering our eyes by the last scene and so neither of us saw the end of it but we were too afraid to rewind it like a minute and watch it so i had to look up the plot summary on wikipedia to see what actually happened. What was this calling in the. I couldn't i couldn't it's. Too scary you think it's like the ring and it's gonna steal your soul if you see it.

I was like i'm not gonna be able to sleep. On an old-timey viagra. We were not it kind of felt like it like it felt like you shouldn't be watching this. What goes on like where's the convention part of this i see the hotel part i see people and they're supposed to go sign autographs but other than that like all i see are fireworks and a rave so i'm like what is going on in this convention I also feel like you're overwhelmed at this convention because you're not a 12-year-old child who gets to run free in a hotel. Because the whole place.

Is just swarming with children. It's like a pack of wild dogs made up by nine-year-old little girls. There's like the one kid that comes up for a selfie has their mom with her. But other than that... I don't think we ever see a parent.

They're all just running loose. I'm like, what is this convention? And it's like a multi-day thing. So it's like, who made your hotel room reservation? The kids are just staying by themselves in a room somewhere.

It's like slumber party. No, wait, that's her again. And this is a real sequel slash now prequel. Yeah, I was so confused. And I still a little bit am.

I do question that they might have used some sort of witchcraft. Was it supposed to be funny? I don't know. It says a lot. When you can't tell if it's supposed to be a comedy, it says maybe the most about a movie.

I mean, there were funny moments because there's. But ultimately, that doesn't even like. Factor in? Matter at all. And that's where I will continue to complain.

Like, I'm just like, why? And the. The heavy handedness of the phone. I'm like, we get it. But they all do that.

Our last movie did the exact same thing. I thought that was bad with the one scene at the end. This was like every goddamn scene. They're like, phones are bad. I'm like, I get it, Grandpa.

Good God. But like, let's move on. And there's even a shot near the end of the movie where you see a flash of him standing behind Bobby. Almost like he's controlling Bobby, but some body or thing had to kill him. And he's already talking to Bobby.

And then there's blood coming out of the computer. Of the everything. Which makes no sense. Because in the 80s, there was an actual crime scene. There was actual evidence of the people who got killed.

It wasn't like the room just went back to normal and they like went off into some ether. So then why would they? Wait, you're saying the things that I wrote over here in the script have to match up with the things over here in the script? I don't think so. A lot of the movies I've seen on there, it seems like every 10 or 15 minutes or so, which isn't terrible.

There'll be an ad. This one, the ads were few and far between, and I was praying. For ads to come up. Even advertisers didn't want to touch this movie. They were like, we don't want to be associated with this.

You don't need to know how to plot. It's not bad CG either. It's mostly practical stuff, which is phenomenal. It's mostly just planning things out and knowing how to do things. I was just like, that makes this even more impressive.

I was like, this is Such a fun movie anyway, but now I'm just like overwhelmed by how amazing you guys are for making this happen. Why wouldn't you just go stay at the Doubletree? He even recommended it. I know. And everybody is acting so weird and scared of your room and you're just like, this is fine.

And then poor Warren. Wants to help. See, if I ever check into a hotel and that experience happens where they're like, well, we have this other room and the other guys are like. Yeah. I don't know anything about anything but i know horror movies so is there a ghost and is it a little boy.

Ghost plus she said she doesn't unpack her clothes like at the beginning she was like i'm not gonna hang anything up in here so like well then stay out of the closet. I mean, that is a pretty big closet, so if you don't put your stuff in there, you could still go in there and make make-believe, which is what I would do. While we're in the closet, who left me this bunny balloon, and why are there eight pairs of shoes on the floor? Actually, I'd be like, thank you for the bunny balloon. That's too fast.

That wouldn't even scare me. I'd just be like, that's cool. I like bunny balloons, sure. The maid comes in, and the first thing you see her do is stripped the bed of the linens, which 30 seconds they showed us that the linens were already stripped off the bed and somebody had placed a chair on top of it. Well, that's the least of your worries.

Start going around and decluttering first. Let's put everything back, and then we worry about the sheets. Why would you do that first? That room, I mean, yeah, it was a mess, but it was more of a like, well, this just needs to go in this drawer, and we put this back on that shelf. Did you see the chair was on the mattress?

I mean, that room was shot. We got to go to a whole nother hotel now. The lampshades are upside down. Yeah, I mean, because they're evil. They bothered to screw them back on upside down.

That's evil. I think I'm doing those two things next time I stay in a hotel. And be like, it was ghosts? I mean, I can't do that. 1980s computer ghosts.

It's not me. I'm not a ghost. Ghosts. But what a strange way to fit into the plot of, oh, here's how I need to let my girlfriend know that there's ghosts. I'm going to ask her if it's okay if I film us having sex.

She's going to say no, which is a fair response. Even if she'd said, yes, that's okay too, I guess. But she clearly says, I don't want to do this. He does it anyway. And he's watching the footage alone and crying about it.

That's how that goes, right? That's how you use it afterwards. How long after the act is finished? finished that he's sitting there watching the video of them just sleeping. Which is a whole other sort of creepy. That's true.

It's got so many bits and pieces of like, that could have been a story, but you got busy doing like, is it a 8-bit demon that follows you through years and years of technology? Is it ghosts? Is it a murdered kid in a hotel room? Is it a closet that eats children? Give me something.

There's a lot of options here. Take any of those. But no, it's just pieces of all that and nothing is ever followed through on and no focus whatsoever. I think of all those ideas you just listed out. Closet that eats children.

I'm telling you. I like the idea of sitting around talking about movies that none of us have seen. What could this be? I mean, that's what the threats are for. This is a threat.

We could be made to watch something terrible, but this time I feel like we'd all be okay if we got to sit down and watch some Dear Dracula. I feel like it, yeah. We could be wrong. Again, some of those kids' stuff are pretty bad, but I'm hoping with the voice talent alone, this is going to be, you know, a few rungs up on the ladder, so... Maybe.

Maybe it'll end up on the list. You guys join the Meltdown Horror Club and let us know if that's what you want us to watch.
