What's a podcast good question It's a thing where we threaten people with movies that they're going to not want us to watch one way or the other. Oh. So we have a special child on the episode we're about to talk about. So I thought I was trying to come up with something. I hadn't seen anything recently, so I was just trying to find something that sort of had a kid.

Don't know if this is a good thread or not, but I came up with the daisy chain. Okay. A grieving couple moved to a remote Irish village in the wake of their baby daughter's death. They soon take in an orphan autistic girl only to become involved in a series of strange occurrences. Well, yeah, if you take in an orphan child, no matter what they are on the spectrum.

They're going to be strange occurrences. Stay away from kids is the thing. That'll be your best option is stay away from children. How come it's always the autistic kids that are like supernatural? Well, because we didn't know what to call them.

I mean, Damien was just on the spectrum, but we didn't know it at the time. That must be it. I'm going to write a thesis about this. Kids are evil, but now we have a different term for it. Like i know i know several.

Just kidding i'm related to a kid that deals with a lot of that. So i've witnessed it firsthand i watch it go on and go man like i am fascinated by him like he operates on just an entirely different level and like watching him like his brain just processes shit totally differently and it's like it's fascinating and It's weird for his mom who has to just deal with everything differently than every other parent in the world. And that's frustrating. She deals with it like a champ. But I'm like, I feel bad that I'm just like, I know other people just have kids and don't care and go on about their business.

But there's a lot more going on when you're dealing with a kid of that level that is super spectrum oriented. So. So anyway, what. Were you saying? No, no, no.

I just want to say I'm not doing it. I'm not blindly attacking random kids with problems. No. Not that it's a problem sometimes. I don't know.

Sometimes it's a lot to deal with, let's just say. Well, that's all kids. Should we start this over? No. Probably.

I'll go get a shovel. We can bury the show right now. Our biggest group of listeners are artistic children. Artistic. Extra artistic.

I know a person. Kids with crayons are my favorite. I know a person whose child is on the spectrum and I haven't met the child, but she tells me about the child and I'm like, that's everything I do daily. Yeah. I've suspected myself for a while.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure. I'm not trying to make a joke or belittle autism at all, but I have suspected myself and the more evidence I get of what an autistic person does, the more I'm. Like, Oh. When I think about how my childhood was and I'm like, ah, see if it was now, there would be tests done. Yeah.

Oh, yeah. I did not have a normal childhood. So, yeah, I would, yeah, I think I'd be somewhere in that mix. So, me too. I get it.

We're special. We're all special is what I'm saying. I'd watch that movie. Which one? Me murdering people as a child?

No. Daisy chain oh okay i forgot. You could make us watch daisy chain if you want i don't know i watched the trailer i'm not thrilled but you know hey you can probably come up with a better option if you just you know sign up for the horror club you can give us a better movie to watch and we don't have to watch daisy chain and i'll still make weird comments about children. Or like i always say make us watch a worse. Movie There's definitely worse.

We have nothing going on in our lives that's going to prevent us from watching terrible movies. Sadly, that's very true. And then talking about them ad nauseum. We have no standards. Yeah, that's probably better.

Obviously not. I got stuff going on. She does have a life. I, on the other hand. I got no standards when it comes to what I watch.

That's true. Yeah. Obviously, once again, you're on this show. This is what we do. It's true.

And that's why we say ridiculous things like this. I did not enjoy it. I know a lot of people are going to be very upset with me for saying that. A little bit, yeah. And I think it's of all the.

So there's the little baby doll puppet with no eyes. And so he just sneaks into his room at night and just terrorizes all the poor residents. You think he can be a solid, serious actor, which he can. I've seen that one movie he made with RoboCop. But also, yeah, it's just like when you want to see somebody chew on some scenery, he is good at it.

What was that movie he made with RoboCop? And I thought it would be kind of campy, you know, like weird little baby doll. It was really sad and intense. It was really good, but I would not watch it again. I watched an absolute... trash fire of a movie called i don't know if there's anything less than no budget but it's a movie it's oh god where do i start there's no i mean there's nothing.

Like i just want to talk about this it's okay there's some specifics going on in the filmmaking that is equally as interesting in what's going on in the plot like it definitely and it calls itself a thriller But it plays on horror tropes so much that I'm like, this is kind of horror. Solid, solid poster. So for normal people, you're like, you know, you don't need to watch the movie. Here's the poster. That's enough for you.

But on that note, there are a lot of questions that I have. That there are no answers to. That should be the tagline for this movie. Because the more I dug into it, the more I was like, but... I.

Could find very little information on it. Now, granted, I didn't look very hard. I found a lot of information about it, and it didn't make it any easier to process. In fact, it's more frustrating the more you find out about it. And then the main kid, who's the quote-unquote star of the movie, just inexplicably... disappears for 20 minutes.

Those things happen i don't understand my only thought was he was just not available for those days of shooting and. It was this when they they made this statement about him i was like well that's What I. Want to be doing He wasn't running around the neighborhood He was swinging on a swing or something Wearing only a Superman cape Playing Tarzan And I'm like well we've all had those moments Dad come on this is so dad trying to make a kid reference I'm. Like those are two different things Dad you can't be playing Tarzan In a Superman cape get it together Well I would. Like to watch that Tarzan movie Where he's actually Superman.

And naked I think there's a channel for you But it's on the internet We're two thirds of the way there why not. Let me just say that I walked into this movie with very high hopes. And man, it did not disappoint. Well, I was going to say. But not in the way I was expecting it to.

You can't say it's not impressive on a level. Not the level most people are looking for. He calls his very creepy buddy and says, Hey, I've got someone new for you to come play with. Bring drugs. I'm going to go pick up two whores for us.

What on earth? That is verbatim what he says. On the Lord's Day? Which also the fact that he's 12 and has a teddy bear is a little weird, really. I mean, I'm watching and I'm like, this is ridiculous.

And I leaned over to my stuffed baby Yoda and I was like, are you seeing what I'm seeing? This kid's like 12. Get it together, man. Who's talking to a teddy bear? And then the movie as a whole just kind of made you feel bad.

So that was a fun one. Yay. Yeah. I love the movie. Well, that's the thing.

I love it for what it is. And then eventually I was like, okay, that's why none of this makes any damn sense. I can't wait for enough time to go by that I forget 90% of it. That's what happened. Because I got into it and I was like, I know I watched this before.

And then I got like part of the way in, I was like, Oh, shit. Like, I forgot so much of the insanity. Yeah, it's just, it's hitting. By insanity, I feel like you mean sheer brilliance. Yes, but also it's like doing several different things at the same time, and they don't click.

They don't cooperate with each other. And I'm like, so what are we taking from this movie? I feel like they forgot about a lot of things after they... They shot it. Or they didn't...

I feel like most movies you decide, okay, this is the plane we're on. These are the rules we're going to abide by. And it has three different planes. And they're all going, they're playing three-dimensional chess at any given moment between these different things happening at the same time. And I'm like, and none of these make any sense, by the way.

So that is how he got this movie. so he was there he had a pulse someone answered a phone he got a movie so but i think you can take that into account he's got credits for all different other things he's been involved in film for years and But he only directed one other movie and it fell apart. And he also got fired from this one at one point, by the way. I heard that later, too. So two movies got fired from both of them. This one, they got desperate and had him come back.

Yikes. So how bad off were they to make sense of this craziness? Also unrelated, but another neighborhood person when they told, what's the name of the weird kid? Jamie. Jamie.

Jamie. To go back to where you came from? Go back to where you came from, funny person. Funny person. That is my new taunt.

I cannot wait for an opportunity to use that. Somebody piss me off soon. Because there was a certain point in the movie where I said out loud, is this scene supposed to be funny? And my girlfriend was like, I don't think so. And I said, yeah, but.

The background music is scored like what you would put in a comedy, but then two bars into it, it changes into scary music and then back to funny music. And I just don't know what to think. It was jaunty. It was like a kid's movie from this time. It was like one of the live action Disney movies of this era that we're watching a dog go on an adventure with another dog and then they meet a cat and they go rob a bank or whatever happens.

Can I watch that movie? I kind of want to watch that movie. Right now and I just made it up. So I read that in... Which they mentioned a skinny dipping scene and I'm like, I don't even remember a skinny dipping scene.

It's at the end. Okay. That the girl was the daughter of the director because she really wanted a role in this movie and he was like, okay, you can do the one where you're naked. And then... She, for the shot, got fully naked and then he was like, wait, put your pants back on.

Let's just do this topless. But she stood there and argued with her dad, the director, while fully nude about how she wanted to be fully nude and not put her pants back on. I don't, I don't know. Everything about that story makes me upset. I know.

And I don't know. Normally, but there's things that I'm like, oh, I get why I'm mad at that. And then there's other things that like, well, that cancels that out. But now I'm mad at this. Yeah.

I don't know what to think. Why did your mom make you get naked? I don't understand. And then off screen, the director is like, you get naked. No, put your pants on.

I don't want to see that. I'm okay with this. But not that. Mom, is that cool? Yeah.

They're a very complicated family. I'm just saying. So, all that said, go to MovieMeltdown.com, join the Meltdown Horror Club, and give us something to watch where we don't have to talk about that kind of weird, awkward stuff. How much of that is going in the show? Most of it.

Okay. I mean, we need something to talk about. You did most of the talking, so I'm not worried about it. Again, if anybody gave a rat's ass what I say... It would factor into my life.

Nobody, nobody does. Leave us a comment so we can have feedback corner. That too. We'll read all of your angry comments on there. I knew that there was a reason for me to practice the phrase, Brian who?

So. Not the first time you've used it either. Not yet. I've been waiting. I've been waiting.

And our movie this week gave me a new phrase. I can't wait. Oh boy. See, this is why you want to sign up. You can hear us have these wonderful discussions.

So. Go get on it.
