I think I took a picture of it on movie is what I was telling myself and this would be it so this is Isabelle it's a very striking cover it really is but I thought it would be fitting for this week's roundup because according to IMDb A young couple's dream of starting a family shatters as they descend into the depths of paranoia and must struggle to survive an evil presence that wants nothing more than their very own lives. It's basically the girl next door is dead and is still hanging out there and is creeping them out looking through the window at home. I don't know. I watched the trailer earlier. That doesn't sound terrible, though.

I mean, she's in the next door house, not your house. Yeah. The house next door to a haunted house. Yeah. It doesn't seem that bad.

So that's what you want us to watch. People were telling you, you have much better ideas of movies we should be watching than Isabella, Rossellini, or whoever that movie was. So, yeah. Otherwise, we have to watch things like that, which they seem to think isn't terrible, but I feel like after we watch it, they're going to be like, this movie was terrible. You just wait and see.

Or better yet, go to MovieMetal.com, join the horror club, and give us a better option than whatever this movie is. Please. Yeah. And then we'll watch something entertaining and say entertaining things like this. There's been a massacre in the pumpkin patch.

You know, Linus never says that the Great Pumpkin was benevolent. That's true. And the memes that I keep seeing online make it seem like not so much. If things would have gone differently in that special, it could have been Pumpkinhead 20 years ahead of its time. Now I want to see that.

You were also wondering about that. I'm sure. You were like, what's up with the pumpkins? How much older is Topher Grayston Phillips? These were your agenda coming into this episode.

I'm in a weird point in my life where I see. I. Don't think I've hated a character as much as I hated George in like a. Really long time. I wanted him to die so soon in this movie.

Me too. And every time they feature just him, I'm like, is this it? I know. Is it a thought time? But the way it's directed, it's really hard to tell what's real and what's hallucinating.

There were many times in the movie where I was like, whoa. It's really well made. It's very good. Blowing your mind. Highly recommend if you want a mind explosion.

It was great. I liked it a lot. He shows up and he's like, hey, you believe in ghosts? I believe in ghosts. Guess what?

You got one in this house, but don't worry about it. It's cool. Let's have a seance anyway just so we can You know, you can get to know her. That's fine. I'm fine with all that.

They have the seance. She shows up, which was really spooky with the sheet and everything. Yeah, that moment's genuine. Like, it works. And then....

If anything, this is how I get suckered into so many horror movies. Being the horror geek that I am, it's what does it add, take away from, screw up, weave into the lore of whatever you're dealing with, which in this one is vampires. So with any of these, they kind of have to make up their own set of rules. What universe do we live in? What applies from lore that we know of versus what's in this movie?

And how do they do it? Well, this one is like, and I saw it even described as like. She was part of this evil cult that lives out in the woods. It was like a deus ex Justine coma thing that like she just sees this vision of them and then wakes up. And also, how is that going to work in court, Justine?

You'll be like, I saw her as a ghost. Coma information dump. That totally works in court. Or, and just spitballing here, they have four bedrooms, which they have said, they made a point to say, well, there's two of them. Just move.

Move across the hallway. Pick the bedroom over top of the garage, so maybe go with one of the other ones. They have four bedrooms, and she keeps making them sleep on the couch downstairs. Well, it is huge, too, because every once in a while, they pull back and do that shot from outside, and I'm like, that's like a good two, maybe two and a half houses crammed together. That thing is massive.

So I'm like you must have got a deal Like somebody got murdered Oh that should have tipped you off lady He barely has a job At a school up here How did you afford that house You should have known something was up with the real estate Vampire real estate agent That's what it was Oh wait I'm mixing my. Movies So There's our other movie. So I can never tell Is that a movie is that a series Could you tell me Is it in English? Are there subtitles? I might be drunk already.

Let me know if I need to read. They don't tell you any of that stuff. From what I could tell as I watched it, it was in English. I mean, it helps, I guess, that they're on cable television. So they have a lower budget.

So they only have so much they can do with this thing that they're creating. And the fact that it's done relatively badly sort of makes it way more entertaining. Because there's times that I'm like, that looks so terrible. And that makes it so much funnier. We've talked many times about how in the right hands, shitty special.

Effects can be amazing. I feel like if they had a real million dollar movie budget, you'd be like, well, this is dumb. But because it looks dumb, you're just like, no, this is genius. It's so good. It's fun.

It can be both, but you're only referring to it as one. But it was just very frustrating. And again, then it came to nothing in the end. So what was the point of the whole thing anyway? And we'll get back to that.

Well, most of what goes on in this movie came to nothing in the end. And I was like. So, and that's an interesting little setup there. But within the industry, the big dog, as it were, that is the badass vampire killer that everybody wants to be. Is played by.

That's all we really need to know about this movie is this guy sucks. And maybe there's ghosts. I don't know. But mostly, this guy sucks. Yeah.

Yeah. Well, going all the way back to the beginning, I knew we were in trouble. When we see her. Which, when you pick up on that. It does, yeah.

Yeah, but when you pick up on that that. Early in, that's not a good sign as far as story structure goes. But it doesn't layer it well. Exactly. Like, if you knew there were layers, that's the thing.

There's so many of those weird little religious tie-in things that are going on at the last 15 minutes of the movie or so that you're like, oh, well, it's nice that you... I mean, I didn't notice it watching it, so it does me absolutely no good as a viewer of the movie. So, points to you for doing your research, but you might have wanted to, I don't know, put it in the movie we were watching so that we'd get something out of it instead of reading about it after the fact and going, oh, they did that. I'll be darned. That's nice.

Didn't help me during the movie, so why do I care? Well, the devil does live in Ohio. Well, obviously. That's why they have all those billboards. Okay, everyone.

Ohio, if you're out there, let us know. Have you seen the devil? Is he lurking around outside your... Do you have a pumpkin patch and is he lurking in there? Go to MovieMeltdown.com.

Join the club. Give us better movies to watch. That's all I'm saying. It's not too much to ask, is it? I want to watch a decent movie.

Just once. Just one week. Even the ones that we pick aren't that decent. All the time. Yeah.

That's what I found out. Some are. It's not us. It's the dice. Yeah.

That's true. It's not our fault. But even the ones we put on the list. I keep thinking, this will be a good time when we roll on this and it comes up and then it's... Whatever.

If I'm being honest, I blame Nora and myself more than anything because. You're like, hey, you got any movies we want to put on the list? And we're just like, whatever you pick is fine. Well, see, and that's the thing. I get myself into it because I usually, by nature of this, go in as blind as possible.

So to be like, here's five things that are new titles. That showed up on Netflix. All right, good enough. Like, I don't even know the plot most of the time. Just like, that's a thing I saw pop up.

And I went, whatever. This looks scary. I was like, that says it looks like a horror movie. Sure, whatever. And then these are the things that. whole fillers that end up on the list so you see how we get ourselves in there i'm just trying to remember how it feels to have a heartbeat
