Seems like there's been a whole lot of horror movie episodes lately, guys. Don't you feel like if you're not part of the horror club, you're missing out? Yes. Totally. I'm really bad at improv.

This is the only time we really do it. But I'm part of the horror club and I am enjoying myself thoroughly. Because there's tons of new material. For $ 2 a month. $ 2 gets you all this great stuff and more. Before, you know, we'd bounce back and forth.

But we did some of those promos at the beginning of the year. And I was like, okay, these are our freebies. I'm telling you now. We're going to be doing a lot more horror. So you better join the club.

And some people were probably slackers and didn't do it. Now we're like three and four movies in a row. The only thing we're putting out is horror. And I'm like, see, I told you. You didn't listen to me.

But you could remedy that real easy. Just go to MovieMeltdown.com. Click on that link at the top right-hand side of the page. And join the club. And you can get in on all this horrific fun every episode.

And you can even help decide what movies we talk about. That is a huge benefit. An extra bonus for everybody. You can make us watch great movies that we'd never see otherwise or terrible movies to torture us. It's up to you.

That's what I'm saying. Just get on board with it. Join the club. Help us watch movies. We don't know what we're going to watch next.

It's all up to you. So then you join the club and you can hear us say awesome things like this. I was talking to somebody about this movie the other day and I realized the only way that you could describe it at all is to just tell them the whole, this happens and this happens. And he's sitting there listening to me. He's like, yeah, okay, yeah.

And then I get to the key point in the plot where everything turns and he's just like, Jesus Christ. And I'm like, oh, we're not even done yet. Well, I'm looking at a picture here of a dude chopping another guy's hand off with a butcher knife. And there's an ice pick sticking through the guy's hand. Yeah, it's super violent and the effects are good.

So why doesn't the serial killer just kill that guy? He tries to. I mean, he tries to find him, but the dude's just like CIA agent. martial arts skills always gets that I mean he gets hurt too like a lot of a lot of beating going on on both sides. And it says I don't have a lot of friends which is why I keep them in the basement and I was like well that makes sense now. That poor chicken R.I.P.

Now the story I've heard in other movies is as long as you eat it it's. Okay Because then you didn't just kill it for a movie. I guess. It's just like everybody else eating chicken nuggets out there. It's served its same purpose.

So we just happened to film it first. Which also is another point I want to dig into later in this movie. It is better made than it needs to be for the sort of movie that it is. Kind of, yeah. Especially like there's aspects of it that you don't expect for this type of movie.

And this budget, you know, it's like they could have really... phoned it in on a lot of levels, and there's moments when I'm like, well, actually, this is pretty well done. Now here, you can see the budget restraints, but. There was actually what I would call character development in this movie. I was like, so wait, Huntress is having a baby with Obi-Wan Kenobi? This kid's gonna be a badass!

And ridiculously attractive. Can't argue with that. Also, like, how much LSD do we have laying around where we're just giving everybody... drinks of LSD. If you had put her in a Batman serial from the 40s as the main villainous, I would have both seen this. But why is she traveling around in a van with these weirdos?

That one's still not as weird to me. And what kind of a bakery specializes in nothing but meat pies? If it was like a trendy, like, of the moment industry, it's the the cronuts, and it was in a big city or something. But in a normal, smaller town, I feel like if you're going to be a bakery, you've got to be able to knock out breads and cakes and everything because you're the only bakery around. So, no.

Meat pie. Yes. Just meat pie. Just meat pie. Which even the hippies call them out on that.

They're like, what the hell? They're like, I'm going to eat a meat pie for breakfast, which first of all. You're a bakery. Where are the donuts at, damn it? There's the.

And I don't think I've ever been in a position where I've gone two or three days without food, which is what they implied these guys were going through, and then argue with somebody about whether or not to eat non-breakfast food for breakfast. Especially when they're getting such a good deal on it. In this, it's. Just a little turn, and he is so menacing and so creepy. But he's not really, like, again, you have to figure out where you think you stand with him as a character.

Because you come. Into it in a weird situation, and you think one thing about him, and then you kind of start to think, maybe I'm wrong. And, like, so he's a really interesting character in this. And, again, I think any lesser actor, it would just not. Be that good.

Right. It had minimal dialogue, which I thought, well, this is keeping with the spirit of it. But when it got to sentence three, I was like, hey. Dad, I'm out of here. Here, we want you to make a horror movie.

And he's like, well, I don't want to do vampires. I don't want to werewolf. He's going down the list of all these cliche things that he didn't want to do. And he's left with real world stuff, which was... reading about this outbreak of rabies in iran of all places yeah and then mixing it. With the manson case that's in the news.

Still and so like he just sort of jams all this stuff together and this is what we get. They did include like the hydrophobia kind of stuff But it was funny because there's a whole chase scene where they're like running like through a stream. Through a stream. Like your feet are in water. And then they get back to the water.

And then they like splash them and they're like, ah! They freak out. You're standing in water. And like you can see so much about society by just looking at the things that were popular in the, and you get different versions of it too. You can look at all the mainstream movies that came out at this exact same time and you'll get a good feel for what the Again, the boring normal people in the world were into the whatever major studio releases came out.

And then go look at your drive in and your grindhouse movies and you'll see what was kind of, again, just under the surface going on. But it's tapping into that same thing that the other people are afraid of. And I think that's what's so important is like you can look at these and pinpoint exactly where the country was at that point. Also, what do we think was the purpose of the pregnant lady having a wig that looked the same as the hair that was under her? And she didn't even take it off.

I don't know. Why are you wearing it if you're going to keep taking it off? I don't understand. Doesn't that sell you? Yeah, quite a bit.

Don't you want to go get your guts ripped out? Twice. Shivers. Shivers, that's the one. Yeah, she's in Shivers for Cronenberg.

Which both are kind of the same type of plot. Well, I mean, the crazies are clearly influenced by this. Yeah. I guess. I love that they kept showing the head.

Every other shot after that was. Because they obviously spent a lot of time making it. They spent at least $ 12 on that thing. And that's $ 12 in 1970 money. Yeah, that's big money.

I don't know. I was like, that's the only thing before that that there's even kind of a dog or werewolf related thing. Not even from this movie. So the title's not the title. The image on the poster's not the image from the movie at all.

And it has nothing to do with that other one on the other half of the poster who also isn't that title and they probably stole that artwork too. Well, I won't say that's the weird scene. They're all weird scenes, but. I mean, it's not really even about the money. I mean, yes, we do need money coming in to pay for hosting fees and to keep the site going and things like that.

But more than anything, we're really just trying to build a community. A group of friends that like movies and horror and want to sit around and talk about them. I mean, that's what this club, hell, that's what this show is built on. And it's no fun to go through all the trouble of putting this together and then nobody's out there. So if you are out there, if you're listening to this right now, go to MovieMeltdown.com and join the horror club.

Then you'll not only get to listen to every episode, but you can help us choose what movies we're going to watch in the future. So become a Melkiteer and help keep this Terror Train rolling. On this Terror Train, this Terror Train. This Pennsylvania Terror Train.
