What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian and we are back to round out this Fear Street trilogy of terror that has continued over the last couple of episodes. And this time we are going back to the olden, olden times as we get the backstory of our witch in question. And then we come crashing back to the modern era, which of course is the 90s, to finish out this story. So if you're not already a member, obviously this is the time to get on board.
Join the Meltdown Horror Club and you'll hear us say awesome things like this. I think it's about time to get some popcorn and start watching the next movie. Oh, okay. Now we're back to book learning. I will tell you the story of the fears and the goods and why there was a curse.
Well, I already had issues like when I saw them come up on the Netflix before I even knew how they were spacing it out. And I was like, ooh, the 90s, cool. Ooh, the 70s, cool. 16. I was like, what?
That just seems like such a weird turn to take. This is not going to have an awesome soundtrack. Yeah, we were a little upset about that because I believe Jayu said it wasn't true to the time. Yeah. Because you remember back in the 1600s.
Yeah, as a person that was around in the 1600s, I didn't. Feel that it was true. They just overloaded it with so many of the hits of the day. Didn't capture the loot playing. Back in the 1600s, back when they were trying to plot this bullshit out.
This is like learning. I'm telling you, I will tell you, there was a trilogy and there was a little spin-off. It was the Fear Street Saga. The Betrayal, The Secret, the... whatever the last one was. I never, like, ever liked the whole...
Yonder Days movies and. The little villages. Yeah, the little village movies. I mean, unless there's like Hobbits or fucking Knights or something. I don't care about witch trials, because it's all the same thing.
It's always a bunch of. We've been to Salem. We've seen this. We've been to Salem, yeah. It's always a bunch of townspeople.
Duffy old white dudes being pissed off. Yeah, you know, and everybody's got the devil in them, and everybody gets all whipped up, and it's all the crowd chasing people, and burn them, and all this other stuff, and grab your torches and pitchforks, and. that in general is an odd move in the middle of this like it'd be different if each of the movies was a different time period and each time like we had all the same actors playing different parts like just to do like a cool again from the outside not within the story within the story you wouldn't know the difference but from the outside like you're just showcasing look how awesome these actors are they're playing totally different stuff in each one we certainly see that happen in like tv series now they keep coming back in a whole new season a whole new story but same actors If they were doing that, it would almost make sense.
But, like, we just need to know, oh, turns out she wasn't the bad guy. We don't need the pig adventure. Yeah. We don't need her. I mean, it's all of that other lead up and, like, the time spent on those two girls not really doing anything.
Like, they still don't even do the thing. Dalliances. Dalliances. Anyways, they fall in love. They're going, oh, I want to get married.
Well, Edward's dad's like, no, you're going to marry this girl over in this other village because her family is of higher standing and it'll be better for us in general if you marry this other girl. These sort of things happened a lot back in the olden, olden days. I'm still trying to figure out how their plan was actually supposed to be functional because if you can blow these things up and they reform, how can they not just T-1000 their way through a fucking gate? That's a good question. I saw him kiss.
They're evil. Okay, well, Pixar didn't happen, bro. So, you know. Lithographs. Stone carvings.
Hold still. Lithograph where it didn't happen, though, brother. Yeah, then they bring us back to 1994, which I was happy. Thank goodness. Because not only did they bring us back to 94, they brought us back to my favorite place in 94.
The mall? The mall. Gadzooks? Gadzooks. We go right to Gadzooks.
First thing. I'm still disappointed that there was, in fact, not a Sbarro in there. I thought there was, but what. Was it again? Primo's.
Primo's. Which I think I always remember seeing at other malls, like when we would go to other towns and be like, oh, I guess that's a thing, but we don't have it at our mall. We don't have that. I was going to say, they can't really prove that he killed anybody, so how is she not getting any repercussions for killing the sheriff? Then once good shows up, they carry his ass.
That's what she referred to. Not the exact wording. But they mix all the blood they have left. In part one, they jawsed him. So in part three, they have to carry him.
Yes, they dump the blood. On. Good. On good, because good is evil. Fear Street Sagas, book number 14.
In the series. What's the price? $ 305. That seems a little pricey to me. For a paperback book. So the next thing you know, Susanna Good and her mom are being arrested for witches because apparently his dad, Edward Fear, has now come across proof that they're the witches and they're gonna burn.
Now let's get to the most important aspect of this entire movie. Headlamps. Did we figure out the headlamps? Your boyfriend was not at all happy. Not that I was not happy.
I mean, they're also in the first movie. This come up then. What year was it? 1994. 1994.
So a headlamp is something that I would have had. If I knew it existed. But I never saw them. We went to bargain supply because at the end of the year we had to buy shit. And I had a flashlight. never once saw a headlamp.
So maybe they just didn't have them available in our area? Let's throw it out there to people. If you were wearing a headlamp in the early 90s, let us know. Otherwise, we have to assume this movie wasn't making it up. They must have existed.
They make up a lot of other shit. That they do. But this is obviously re-out. And I will tell you all the things that they made up because I will tell you the history. It won't even give me.
It won't even give me a. Because it. Keeps trying to bring up headlights for cars. So what do you think of this becoming a bigger thing? Because, I mean, this did pretty well.
I'd say those first two were really successful. Netflix has enough money to do whatever the hell they want. So do you think. I think it'd be interesting for them to continue, depending on which way they decide to go. Are they just going to follow them, or are they going to have different stories?
Is it going to be like an anthology series? That's what I wonder. Are they going to continue to do, like, the trilogy thing was really interesting for people, so do they do three movies each time and try to keep doing this thing? But how? Because, I mean, they wrap up the fear part of it.
I mean. Well, just do a whole new set of stories and do... If you want to keep doing the time thing, you could do that or just pick three different... Again, almost anthology-like, but split into three movies, so maybe. Or the other one, I was surprised...
