Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million. Kilowatts of power. What's up and. Welcome to Movie Meltdown. I am Brian.

I am Misty. I am Marlena. And we're back for the third annual Easter Eggstravaganza. Pun intended. Anyway, so we'll get it underway in our usual holiday fashion.

Uh-oh. Well, first of all, even if we're not at home, we have to have the bowl. Ghost bowl. The ghost-shaped bowl for all holiday food items. I forgot we're having candy.

I wouldn't have eaten so much pizza. Nah, suck it. I can still eat candy. That's part of the plan. I have, like, a bottomless pit today.

I can eat everything. I can go home and eat a whole cake. I'm pretty sure I'm going to do that. Wow. Oh, you know, I meant to bring a red velvet cake because I have an extra one.

I decided this is still fitting because it's the Holy Ghost. If you care about the religious aspect, it's the Holy Ghost. It says boo on it. Yay. I love Kit Kats.

Yay. Thank you. Are we going to, like, say a word? It would be the holiday without Mickey Mouse. Yay.

I know they're not. The big ones, but you can live with it. I have something like two years ago still in the refrigerator. I'm really going to feel like crap tomorrow. Me too.

Awesome. I'll probably end up throwing up by the time we're done with this. You say that every episode. Way too much crazy food. I know, and I actually end up feeling a little vomit afterwards.

It wouldn't be a holiday unless somebody was just feeling very good. I'm drinking a real Coke. That's weird. Yeah, I told Brian he had to bring his own drinks because I've got some Dr. Peppers, but I'm not sharing because that's all it was real sugar, and they're fucking limited edition.

I don't like that. Which that seems nice since I just brought candy to share with everyone. But these are limited edition. Uh-huh. So are these.

They're only available during the holidays. You can get them every other holiday, though. Look at those pastel colors. You can't get those any other. Time of year.

That's true. You can't get these pastel purple Kit Kats. On an unrelated note, I now have enough pastel nail polish to paint every fingernail a different color because I'm kind of obsessed with nail polish. Okay. Just remember, Dexter.

Anyway. Dexter. Never mind. Never mind. You'll find out the hard way.

So, yeah, it is time for... No pouting. No pouting on Easter? This is about Easter. We're having Easter cake.

It is Easter. It's the Easter holiday special. Yay. Somewhere there's a beagle dancing. Anyway, so, in our usual fashion, I've decided, you know, we come up with many ridiculous things that we try to do whilst we're recording the show.

I think it adds something to it. Good or bad, that's arguable. But I still think it adds some sort of character to it. So. I decided this time we need to bust out the old school pause Easter egg kit and start dying some Easter eggs.

Yay, I'm so excited. I don't think I've ever died Easter eggs. Really? What the hell is wrong with you? Many, many things.

I might have, but I don't remember. We usually do the plastic ones. Pause. It's the way of the future. So we didn't figure this whole deal out.

I did that one year when I was a kid. We found an egg in the yard that had been there for several years. We quit hiding real eggs. And we used to use the plastic list, and my grandma used to put change in them. Ooh, yeah.

She put, like, real money in them for a while. Mm-hmm. With, like, dollar bills and shit involved. Yeah, but I was the one hiding the eggs. So do you think we really ever made it in the yard?

I wouldn't put that past you. I love my grandma. Grandma's awesome. She is pretty awesome. Even though she has a dog now, and she carries it around in her purse.

She's a Paris. I have chocolate right here. Oh. This is my chocolate mustache. That's how you know it's a holiday.

Chocolate on your face. We have to figure out instructions and stuff. Words. Let's see. Three tablespoons.

Wait, tablespoons? Oh, man. I'm going to measure. Do you have a table? Oh, hell yeah, bitches.

We're at my house. I got shit. You got, like, your own cooking show and shit. I'm gonna go somewhere. Oh!

Ooh! You're all fancy. It's like Martha Stewart all over your house. I know. That's amazing.

We are at the Bastion of Awesomeness, by the way. I'm in the middle of, and everybody will be excited, actually painting. I have now suckered, uh, Oh, well, I've guilted family members into helping because I wasn't going to do it myself. And I was right. It's taken, like, days and days with a good four people working out.

Hey, do you think they can come over and help me afterwards? I don't know if he's got enough guilt to come over. They're already so sick of it. I don't know if they'll talk to me after this. Yeah, so eventually.

That's why I'm not painting your house this time. Yeah, you said. But possibly. I painted the last house. Yeah.

Yeah. He did, actually, so I'll give you that one. I'll do the trim. That trim fucking sucks. Yeah, the trim sucks right now.

Let me tell you, that's what I worked on all day yesterday. Yeah, trim's the worst. Trim blows. I just start painting a room and never finish it. That's my MO.

That's been the last year for mine. I just live with really ugly wallpaper. Next time we appear at the actual studio, it will be time to christen it in its new form. It should actually be somewhat finished already. It's pretty exciting.

And then we can chip in to slowly get you central heating and air. Go for it. There's heating, for God's sake. I'm not that poor. Well, it didn't feel like there was heating last year.

Well, that's because it was broken, but now it works. Now it works in the summertime. Now that it's warm out. Okay, so we need three tablespoons of... How much was a tablespoon?

This name brand that I'm not plugging. But it has a little spoon that says, just a pinch. I don't think that's an official measurement. But I do like that this vinegar says got eggs on it. It is pretty awesome.

They're all partnered up with Paws. I am plugging Paws because it's awesome. It's half of my childhood, so I'll plug them regardless. It's a tablespoon. It's a TV, right?

Martha Stewart. Martha Stewart, everybody. Where did those cups go? Cups. Cups, cups, cups.

I'm excited. Yay. We won't keep the cups, though. Are the eggs going to fit in here? Yeah, that's the whole thing.

Two tablespoons? Three tablespoons? That's not deep enough for egg dunking. It's kind of rolled in there. You roll it.

How many did it say? Three? Three. That's more than you think, though. Rolling with the home.

I love during this, so I don't care what any of you say. I still remember being deeper. I kind of do, too. I mean, I think you should add water if you want on pastel. I don't want pastel.

Okay, just, let's do, like, part of them with water and part of them with not. Okay. Well, then there's, you can get traditional, but we have to add lemon juice in this shit. I ain't got no damn lemon juice. Uh, you know what?

We don't need to measure this. This is stupid. I mean. I see. It's not gonna.

That is kind of how we roll. Yeah. Uh, you know, even with. Reading. It's, it's funny because, like, I bake a lot, even with baking.

Yeah. Like, I ran out of flour and sugar yesterday. Oh, I do have the pink ones. I see a little bit less. It's okay.

Do we want pink when hardcore? Well, it says, let's see, for the pink dye tablet, use water method to achieve the brightest pink color. Mm, go throw some water in. Tail shoe. Yeah, cup.

Use some vinegar. Use some vinegars. God, I hate vinegar. I've had to bathe in vinegar once. Ugh, it's so gross.

I remember as a kid. Oh, God, that smelled like ass. As a kid, we were playing, like, I don't know, some sort of spy game or something. It gets all fizzy. I want a pink one.

I want a pink one. And we had a rag soaked in vinegar that we were pretending, like, was chloroform so that we could take the other kids down. This is why I will be locked up at some point. This one's kind of pink looking. You want that one instead?

Is that pink or is that red? Or do they have a red? Do both of them. I like that they get all fizzy like an Alka-Seltzer tablet. We'll probably need paper towels the way we're going.

There's vinegar. I probably didn't measure that properly. It's okay. That's been measured properly. Where'd the pink one go?

Right here. Oh. Don't eat it. Don't eat it. I can't get it out, damn it.

There's green. See, there's green. I would not have expected that one to be the green one. It looks like absinthe. Drink it. you'll see a green fairy how.

Dare one of you to drink this it's not going to be misty I know that much I don't. Know she loves vinegar vinegar is so disgusting. Don't lose the crayon we need that I know do you have any rubber bands I'm aware of what because it's fun to make tie-dye eggs do you have damn hippies I don't know hippie eggs I don't think I ever thought about. That why are there so many blues it likes blue it's a pretty color there's. A rubber band I love to eat it Oh, God, that stinks so bad.

Welcome to your childhood. I didn't have this childhood. We're starting it now. Yeah, we didn't do this. We had the plastic.

I love the plastic ones where you dip it and it goes and it sucks to the egg. Oh, my God, I fucking love those. Does it really? Yep. Go boil some water.

Oh, man. Where's the turtle? He was my favorite. Even before I said, I like turtles all the time. I like the little turtle guy that was always on there.

There he is. Terrence. He's got a head on. How cool is he? I found the stickers.

I like stickers. Is there a turtle sticker? There's no turtle sticker. Oh, there's a monkey and a rocket ship. Alright, we're ready to dye the hell.

Out of these damn eggs. I did pop the circles out of the box and we now have an egg depository. Yay. Look how lovely those Easter eggs are. Ours are not going to look like that.

Not so much. Is there only one egg dipper? I think so. It's an egg dipper burr kit. So, we'll buy more kits.

Yeah, who wants to start? I'm going to do a pink one. This, he's never done it before. This is her, like, inaugural egg dipping. I know, I'm so excited.

I just, like, You can just dip half and have a two-toned egg. It's amazing. That's pretty exciting. The longer you let it sit, the more darker it gets. I'm going to let it sit.

Then you can drop them in there. I'll fish it back out. I know. I'm just saying if you let go. It's getting all spotty.

I'm just going to let it sit in there for a minute. Hold up. They don't normally do that. I guess the layer of skin on top, it's making them all weird. That'll just make it more festive when you're done.

It'll have spots on it. Ooh, watch, watch, watch. It pushes it up as you do. It kind of goes away with it. Ooh, it comes back.

Ooh, that's so weird. Look how vibrant my egg is. It's beautiful. Mine's not. Mine's splotchy, but I don't think it has the mange.

It's pretty cool, though. Look at it. Oh, no. I didn't want that to happen. I'm going to leave it in there for a little bit longer.

Look how beautiful this turned out. So while we're dying eggs, let's start the geek week. You guys go first. You can't really expect us to multitask like that, can you? Yes.

All right, well, my eggs are now in the stuff, so I'll talk. I watched a shitload of Sean Patrick Flannery movies. I will start with what I watched first. Is this because you were hanging out with him last week because you're so cool like that? Yeah, he's my new biggest celebrity crush, but don't tell Corey.

Corey's still my favorite, and I love him the most, but right now, I mean, John Patrick Flannery's just a crush. It probably won't last long. I watched The Insatiable, which sucked. Is that the one with the demon? No, that's the vampire.

Okay. Okay. It's a vampire. Sean Patrick Flannery plays this really nerdy, office-y kind of guy who's just a fucking loser by all means. Anyways, he's walking down.

He walks past Nellie one night and sees this guy getting his fucking throat torn out by this vampire chick. And she runs off and tears the guy's head off. And Sean Patrick Flannery's like, ooh, I must kill this girl. And then he decides he can't kill this girl because he's kind of a weenie. So he just traps her in his basement in a cage.

And then he falls in love with her. Oh, no. Yeah, so whatever. Whatever. I mean, it was kind of lame.

Then I watched The Damn Thing, which is kind of, I guess, one of the Masters of Horror segment things or whatever. Yeah. And it's got him playing a sheriff, and apparently his parents or his relatives at some point pissed off this big fucking oil tar monster. I'm not really sure what the hell it was. Anyways, it comes after him to kill him.

Do you hate when that happens? I do. I fucking hate when that happens. And then I watched Call, which was probably the fucking worst. Call.

That's pretty bad. Yeah, it's pretty bad. It's kind of like The Birds, but not. Except the suck. Yeah.

These birds attack this town, and they make a point to tell you that they are ravens, they are not crows. And then they make a point that the Mennonites, they tell you, they make sure you know it's the Mennonites, not the Amish, that had these cows, and then the cows got mad cow disease, and then the ravens ate the cows. And yeah. Because ravens eat cows? They were dead.

Okay. So yeah, then the ravens start killing people. I thought those were like vultures and. Well, because they got the mad cow disease. Like, that's supposed to make them mad raven disease.

Which Boyfriend's reply was, well, that's just so raven. Oh. I guess we still claim him after that. That's so raven. I did say eggs.

You're special. All right, and then after Call, I watched Savage Planet, which was probably one of the better ones of the ones I watched in my extravaganza of Sean Patrick Flanner. It was. Savage Planet. It's pretty much him walking around saying lines that sound like they were overdubbed by Nathan Fillion the entire fucking movie.

The lines sound like they were written for Nathan Fillion. I think at some point he's even wearing a Nathan Fillion type outfit from like Fireflies. Yeah, it looks just like it's okay. They're big monster bears. It's a big wannabe Firefly.

Yeah, anyways, they're bears. Space bears. On a different planet where there's bears. Space bears. They're huge.

They're ginormous fucking bears. Space podiac. And then I watched... God, what else did I watch? Oh, I guess, shit, I watched Girl first.

I fucking love that movie. Girl's awesome. I actually like Girl. I love the hell out of that movie. Girl was awesome.

I fucking love that movie. That's back when he did, like, normal movies, not his special, like, sci-fi-esque movies that he specializes in now. He's so gorgeous in that movie. He plays a rock star. He's just an ass.

Girl's a good movie. And it's got, what's her name, Dominic Swain in it. Dominic Swain is awesome. And Portia de Rossi and Selma Blair. It's just, it's an awesome movie, and he's just, he plays the fucking rock star, and he's so fucking gorgeous.

But then I watched Demon Hunter, because it's on Netflix. Watch it now. So that might be the one I was. Yeah, he's... Actually, it was fun.

It's tolerable. Yeah, he plays a guy who just hunts demons. Yeah, that's the one I saw part of on cable right before we left to go see him, and I was just like, wow, this is a pretty bad movie. But it was at least entertaining. Yeah, it seemed like it was.

Oh, it wasn't even entertaining. Yeah. Yeah. It seemed like it was a fun cable watch at like 11.30 because, you know, it's Friday night and you have nothing else to do. Oh, wait, maybe that's just me.

Either way, though, yeah, it seemed like it could have been a fun, cheesy movie. Well, yeah, well, Jay went to bed at like 9.30 last night, so I was up late last night watching television. So I watched that, and then I watched Ten Inch Hero, which was not quite as pornographic. As I thought it might be. Yeah, you would think, wouldn't you?

Yeah, but it was not. Aw, I missed his awesome egg. It did not turn out as awesome as I anticipated. But Tenichiro is about, I guess he's kind of a main character. He's the guy that the chick from Point Pleasant falls in love with.

Sort of, but not really. It's complicated. She thinks his kid might be hers, but it turns out it's not. I just spoiled it for you if you haven't seen it yet. She thinks his kid might be hers?

Well, she gave her kid up for adoption. Because she had her kid when she was 15, so apparently she was a slut. So her parents made her give it up. Oh, oh, oh. But then it has Jensen Eccles in it.

He has a mohawk almost the entire time, so you can't tell how freakishly small his forehead really is. And it's got John Doe in it. John Doe is cool. And. Clea Duvall, is that her name?

Clea, yeah. And it's got. That one chick from One Tree Hill who came on the show and she was a bitch. I can't remember her name. Yeah, the one that was on every, like, stupid.

Her name was Danelle Harris in real life. She ended up marrying Jensen Eccles. In real life? Yeah. IRL?

She was a bitch on the show. That's what I'm saying. She's, like, she went through this run, if it's the one I'm thinking of, that she was on every show, like, every, specifically, like, hour-long dramas on cheesy cable networks, that, like, they brought her in as, like, the new character, and she was a bitch on every one. Like, she played the exact same character every time. Yes.

Oh, is my egg still wet? But it was, I think Tenet Tree, it was a nice movie. It was, I guess, it was nice. Nice. I didn't hate it.

I didn't hate it. It was better than Call. It was a love story, which usually it's, I'm like, whatever, it's fucking lame. It's kind of a chick movie, but I enjoyed it somewhat, mostly because it's got Sean Patrick Flannery kind of being a dork, and at some point he's running on the beach going, Call! So I think it's kind of a throwback to Caw.

Yeah, that's the wrong movie, isn't it? I don't know who's running on the beach yelling, Caw, Caw, and not in the movie. Watch my other movie! Watch my other movie! Yeah, it was fun.

I enjoyed it. He was hot. He didn't have his shirt off near enough in any of these movies. Damn it to hell. Please.

Why didn't you tell him that last time you came? Dude, I should have. Except for now, I'm not really sure I want to see it as much. Oh, that's true. He needs to go back in time and be more fearless.

He needs to go back in time and take off his shirt. Dude, seriously. He was a gorgeous man. He still is, even with his duck face. I don't care.

His duck face is hot. I don't care. Screw you guys. All right, I'm done. That's all I have.

Okay, me? Well, I'll talk about my themed movies that I watched unintentionally. Last night I watched Mermaids, which I love. It's a really good movie. Mermaids is a good movie.

Winona Ryder and Christina Ricci, they're so adorable. And even Cher. She's not Cher adorable? Yeah, you don't want to smack her like normal. Yeah, I mean, I forgot that Cher used to be a mega babe in her day, and I forget that because I think of Cher and I think of creepy, like overly plastic surgery kind.

Of, and that scares me. But she was a babe, and her clothes were really cute. in Mermaids, and I liked it a lot. And I was like doing five other things while watching it, so I didn't pay that much attention to it. I also watched Burlesque because we went to rent. I'm going to have to watch it eventually.

We went to rent. Black Swan, but they didn't have it. So the polar opposite is burlesque. It's still a movie about dancing. Kind of.

Speaking of Black Swan, did you know Winona Ryder's in Black Swan? I think I remember mentioning. She turns up in the weirdest places now. It's like last year in the middle of Star Trek. I'm like, wait, what?

What the hell's going on here? Burlesque Uh, yeah, it was pretty terrible. I actually enjoyed it the first time around when it was called Coyote Ugly because it's the exact same fucking plot. Um, so it's not the exact same fucking plot as Showgirls? Well, I've never seen Showgirls, so maybe it's like an amalgam of Showgirls and Coyote Ugly put together.

Because, yeah, that's what everybody said. It's like, Showgirls was at least fun in the badness of it, whereas, like, Verlust just doesn't even embrace how bad it is. Yeah. It takes itself. Not even, like, that's the thing.

Showgirls takes itself seriously, and that's why it's awesome. Like, burlesque is just bad and not even fun. I mean, I think you should watch it just because you love Kristen Bell and Kristen. Dina, what's her face? Is it molting?

I don't know, but it looked really good before I put it in there a second time. Now it's, like, spotty and crusty. This gives it character. I want to dip this in water. Yeah.

Christina's weird now. She's losing me. Yeah, she's got a weird face now. Yeah. And I don't, at first I thought it was weird surgery.

I think she just, like, I think her weight has fluctuated so much that it's taking its toll on her. She's weird looking now. This is making, why is it getting all crusty? It's good for it. My eggs are crusty.

Sounds like something you see at the doctor. But your eggs are getting crusty too. I like it. It looks like a dinosaur egg. What was I saying?

Oh, that's pretty. It turned purple. That's cool. That was really funny. Kristen Bell and Galera.

Christina Aguilera. Very cute. Earl's, normally. Not Christina What's-Her-Face anymore so much, but. She used to be back in the day.

Yeah. But, um. Yeah, don't waste your time on that. Should I boil some water so we can put the wrappers on them? We've still got a few, right?

Mm-hmm. There's four. Okay. I want to put wrappers on them. We're going to do wrapper eggs, too.

All right. Our eggs are going to be wrappers. Should be big enough, right? Yeah. You just got to dunk it, so fill it up most of the way, so you can submerge your egg I.

Don't really have that much to say about mine. Mermaids was good. Brusque was not good. I watched more movies, but I watched them with Jay, so. Yeah.

I figured I watched enough Tom Hedrick's Flannery. Yeah. I did watch, I mean, since we're trying to keep it short, I did watch other movies like Ginger Snaps and Toy Story 3, but. That's the same category as me. Mm-hmm.

Exactly. Exactly. Exactly. Is there only three egg wrappers? Mm-hmm.

There's like a whole little sheet. Somewhere over here. What do they look like? All these things? Oh.

I don't know. I don't know. You're having egg problems? Mm-hmm. My eggs are falling out.

Once again, that seems like a problem. I just don't understand why they got all crusty. I mean, my yellow and orange ones. We didn't actually follow the directions. We completely disregarded the readings and the measurements and anything else technical that might have kept the crustiness from taking place.

Oh, well, it's the process. That's so fun. Kind of. This is awesome, too. You can kind of read it.

You didn't even write it. It just said that when you put it in there. It knows. I'm excited. I love it.

This is what I grew up with. We had dippy things. Dippy things are fun only because they do the weird sucky thing at the last minute. But it doesn't involve all the cups and dyes and ridiculous process. That goes on.

This was a good photo op. That's what I'm saying. It's a lot of fun. So with my geek week, I was waiting to see if we'd see Greg. Who knows?

Because we actually shared a geek week last night. We decided to go to see... Did you share a moment? Um, we shared like two hours in the parking lot, just rambling, not even talking about that movie. We just got our usual sidetracked yammering on like we do.

But, um, yeah, we decided to go see Hannah, which, um, yeah, I was considering doing a whole. Little discussion on it, but I don't know. I got done. I was just like, I don't even know how much to say. So I won't even spoil anything for anybody really.

Cause I think it's just, I don't know. I don't know how to go into most of it. It's pretty straightforward if you've. Seen the trailer. But it's pretty well done as well.

It's like, um, I was checking. Yeah, if you got places. It's like, you're flaky. Awesome. It looks like a lizard.

Lizard egg. Awesome. Oh, it's touching mine. I like the lizard egg. But yeah, the director on that is Joe Wright, who, I mean, this is a movie about a young girl basically trained to be an assassin.

So it's like, it's odd that his other movies are Pride and Prejudice and Atonement. So it's a very proper director to give something like this to. So I think it comes off a little better because it's not done so cheesy. It's not done as strictly an action movie. It's actually done sort of as this character study and you follow this girl, this like super young teenage girl that's like coming to terms with the fact that she's become. and trained as an assassin, basically.

She's starting to come into her own, and she's having that growing up moment, so there's a whole lot of... Basically, he takes her out in the woods to train her to be an assassin. So it's kind of like if Hit Girl was in the wilderness. It's pretty much the same setup. It's a girl from birth, basically, trained to be an assassin.

I love eggs in a wrapped in plastic bag. I don't know if this is... It'll shrink up to the bottom. You've never rocked them before? There you go.

Whoa! That's crazy. That's insane. Shrinky nicks. Dip in the egg.

Oh, yeah. I want to dip another one, too. I think we're running out of eggs. Do you want to dip this one? I love eggs.

Yay! Our eggs are mostly dipped, except for the soaking ones. But yeah, that's pretty much what it is. It's like, what if Hit Girl was raised in the wilderness? It takes this little girl from birth and teaches her how to be an assassin.

I mean, otherwise, performance-wise, it's really impressive. It's just by the end, I didn't know what to do with it. Like, it was all pretty straightforward, and it kind of went where you expected, and it's all very, like, most of it's like... Got a weird European feel to it. I mean, the whole thing is in Europe, but I mean, it even feels movie-wise.

And I don't know if it's like the movie really feels this way or if it's just me trying to apply my past foreign action type movies onto it. Like, I'm sitting there at times being like, that's kind of a little La Femme Nikita. And then there's later, I'm like, that's kind of run Lola Run. But I'm like, I don't know. Maybe I'm just imposing my, what little limited foreign action movies chick movies, I don't know, but there were times that felt kind of like that, but not even, like, like, ripping it off, just sort of reminiscent of it, like, maybe it is, especially the film Nikita, I'm sure he, like, did go into that with a little, uh, tribute in mind on that one, but yeah, it's, it's definitely worth seeing, I liked it visually, it's really impressive, I mean, he's, he's, again, done some pretty impressive stuff visually in the past, so.

Yeah, it's kind of interesting. It wraps up in a way that's a little too played out at this point. They work in a story angle towards the end that's, I don't know, something we've seen a lot of in recent years. And everybody has, actually, Eric Vanna's got an interesting accent. It's at least, like, solid.

It follows every time. It kind of sounds Austrian-ish. He sounds sort of like Arnold the whole time. And then our other... Well, I mean, the main girl.

I still can't pronounce her name. That one chick. Okay. The female lead is actually really good and does... Again, she shows so much promise because she goes into it very...

I don't know, just. Very raw, the way that her performance comes off, which is kind of what you would need to be with this kid that is completely out of. Touch with society. And it's, yeah, it's pretty well done. But yeah, our other main... character is Kate Blanchard, who has this weird accent, and it seems like it fluctuates.

That seems to happen with her lately. Yeah, I don't know what it is. She's, like, such a good actress. I just don't understand how she can't do accents. I mean, she's still good in this, but there's times when, I'm not even sure what it was supposed to be.

There's times when it came off almost very Texan, and then there were other times where it was very minor. I don't know. She just fluctuated quite a bit with that accent. So I don't know what she was even going for. I've seen her do country accents really well.

Yeah, The Gift. She's amazing. And it's solid. That's the thing. You could watch that and think she's from the South somewhere.

Not England. So the fact that she can pull that off so solid it makes no sense why this one is just all over the place. Whatever accent she had in the last indiana. Her acting was so bad in that movie i was like ashamed for her it's like you're an amazing oscar-winning actress like you are one of the top actresses out there like That. Entire movie sucked.

I think it sucked all the talent out of her. Yeah, I think it did. I think it just became such a ridiculous joke. She was just like, I'm going to butcher this. I don't even give a fuck.

I don't know. This one is not that. This one's a lot of fun. They meet this family on this little trip, and there's this other little girl, this other teenage girl, that just for that alone, her performance is fucking hilarious. Yeah.

Yeah, you'll end up having that be your favorite character. She says some pretty crazy shit. Sean Patrick Flannery said some pretty crazy shit in the extravaganza movies that I watched him in. Do you have specific favorite lines? No, I don't know, because there's just so many of them.

I can't break it down to that level. I think I just watched too many of them. I watched four Sean Patrick Flannery movies yesterday alone. Whoa. Yeah.

You have a multicolored dyed egg that's also kind of dyed. Mm-hmm. Fancy. So anything else for the Geek Week? Nope.

Oh, yeah, Randy, The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones is on Netflix, so I'm good. You don't need to find that for me. We're all square. Finding a copy of the DVD and purchasing it as you were going to do for her. I'm just saying, it's on Netflix.

So never mind. Yeah. And honestly, this show seems kind of boring. Blasphemy. But it's got Sean Patrick Flanagan, and he's young, and his face moves all like normal, like a human being.

I almost didn't recognize him. Honestly, I think he's kind of hotter now. I don't know. I like that show, but that was just a good show, I thought. Anyways, it's on Netflix.

I think it's well put together. The kid's ugly, though. Which, the little kid? The little kid. Yeah, I don't get the, I didn't, at the time, I didn't like the little kid episodes.

I was like, eh, get to the other guy. At least the stories are interesting. Like, there's nothing that interesting that happens to little kids, you know? The kids are stupid. Yeah, it's like, you hit teenage years, you just have adult adventures, and you're a teenager.

But, like, you're a little kid, and I don't know, it's rare that they can pull off the same type of adventures. They're always, like, very kiddified and different. I don't know. I always preferred the older version of him. Anyway.

Me too, because it's got a Sean Patrick Flannery. Even when I didn't know what his name was. And I can't quit saying his name. Sean Patrick Flannery. It's so fun to say.

What's his name? Sean Patrick Flannery. It's not Juliana Magaliz. Magaliz. Juliana Magaliz.

Jake gets so annoyed at me, because whenever the commercial for The Good Wife. The Good Wife. Which isn't a bad show, actually. Whenever the commercial goes on, hey, baby, hey, baby, you know who that is? You know who that is?

He goes, no. Who is it? No. Juliana Magaliz! Juliana Magaliz!

Wow. Yeah, then he just gives me this look. Yeah. Yep. Juliana Magaliz.

He knows it's coming every time. He dreads it. He does. He sits and silently waits for it. He does.

He puts up with my shit. So, gotta listen. Juliana Magaliz. Perfect Flannery's pretty fun, though. Go ahead.

Sorry. I can't help it. I'm obsessed. Antoine Fuqua. There.

That's not as good. Come on. There's no cooler name than Antoine Fuqua. All right. On our crazy name saying, I guess we're going to round out the geek activities.

So we will get the rest of our eggs out of these cups here and come back with this week's Sofa Theater feature. Da-da-da-da. Do-do-do. A fighting rabbit that buffs you up. And the murderous pigeon carries the dagger. .

That night of the Lepus. A night of total terror, more shattering than your strangest nightmare. What caused the unnatural death, destruction, and panic that night of the Lepus? Janet Leigh. Stuart Whitman.

Rory Calhoun. And Paul Fix. Night of the Leapus. Kill one and thousands take their place. What devil creatures growing weight and size every day are hidden behind the eyes of horror?

Hi, John Amplis, and you're listening to Movie Meltdown, the greatest movie geek show on Earth. It's time for Sofa Theater. Sofa Theater. We predict you'll greet Harvey with laughter and rousing applause. How do we know?

Because for five long years, audiences did just that on Broadway for the most talked-about Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy of our time. And now, at last, Harvey comes to the screen, better, richer, funnier than it ever was on the stage. Starring James Stewart as Elwood P. Dowd, America's most amiable citizen. with hilarious Josephine Hull and a grand cast. And once again, the critics are raving.

Of all the films I've made, Harvey is one of my favorites. There's just no question about that. I have a special admiration and love for that big white rabbit. The whole idea of the character Elwood P. Dowd who has this great friend, which is a six-foot-eight white rabbit.

He became a very close friend of mine. You can see it on the performers, on. All of us. You can see that all of us sort of accept the existence of this rabbit. And, of course, that's what Mrs.

Chase had in mind when she wrote this. Are we going. To go hide all the eggs in the backyard? Do you want to? No.

All right, we are back. This week's Sofa Theater feature is Harvey. Appropriate, I thought, for the Easter festivities here. Yeah, and I thought it was going to take that long for the movie to be over. Nuh-uh.

I thought it was long, dude. It felt forever. The year is 1950. The director is Henry Coster. The plot, according to IMDb, and by the end we're going to get into probably the first issue we're going to have to address here.

Edward P. Dowell is a mild-mannered, pleasant man who just happens, he says, to have an invisible friend resembling a six-foot rabbit. Six foot three and a half. exactly and even then it's wrong. Because, and you'll notice, I mean, it is a whole lot of him looking up at the rabbit. The reason it's six foot three and a half or whatever they technically keep calling him the whole time is because that's the way it was written for the play.

And obviously the play isn't written to star Jimmy Stewart. Who is freaking tall. How tall is he? He's like six foot three. So it's like he's looking up.

So if you listen to Jimmy Stewart, he says he always assumed that Hardy was six foot eight because he's looking up at him the whole time. So in his mind, and I'm going with Jimmy Stewart because you don't argue with fucking Jimmy Stewart. six foot eight is really you know how tall harvey is regardless of what they actually say within the context of the movie yeah it was weird that even when jimmy stewart like everybody else kept saying it but again most of them couldn't really see him or so they said so it was weird when even he got the tight wrong because i'm just like that's impossible you're looking. Up at him yeah that's my problem i said that during the movie i'm like what the fuck. So uh in If we haven't already done it, spoiler alert, we'll ruin this whole...

We'll ruin the hell out of this movie. This 1950 movie. So, yeah, if you haven't seen it, go watch it, because, you know, it's Jimmy Stewart. You can't go wrong. So, all right, where would you like to begin?

There's a lot of talking in this movie. It is based on a stage play, so... A lot of talking. There's usually... Built around a lot of dialogue.

That's a lot of dialogue. A lot of it was pointless. A lot of it. I don't know. I mean, some of it was there were scenes that I think were really impressive.

Like, I mean, there are the key moments, and you can kind of see them coming in most movies. When they should almost, well... nod to Wayne's World here, go ahead and flash the Oscar clip text at the bottom, because you can kind of see when they roll into, like, oh, shit, this is actually pretty impressive. Yeah, so you get a couple of those in this one. There's two or three where. Jimmy Stewart just kind of goes into almost a monologue, and it's pretty impressive.

The alley story is amazing, so it's just him at his best. That's kind of what the whole movie is, really. I mean, it's Jimmy Stewart doing what he does best. And he's awesome. But there was a lot of stuff that I just didn't need in there.

I hated that bitch that lived with him. His sister? What a bitch. Yeah, the older one. She was a bitch, dude.

They're both. Like, the daughter was not bad. I mean, almost immediately when we meet the daughter, she says, you know, people get hit by cars every day. How come uncle can't? And I was just like, wow, that's harsh.

Yeah. Well, I see it. They moved into his fucking house. Yeah. And they're gonna tell him he can't have an imaginary fucking bunny?

Dude, fuck you guys. And have him committed. And like, well, you know what? We shouldn't have to deal with this. We shouldn't have to deal with this.

Well, then fucking move out. Get a job. Go find yourself a place to live. Fucking useless cunts. Get the fuck out of his house.

What? That might be the first time that's ever been used in context to a Jimmy Stewart movie. Seriously. Piss me off. Which is why we're off.

So, Bitching about, well, he had such potential. What the fuck are you doing with your life sitting around fucking useless hat-wearing whore? Hanging out with the red hat lady club. That was a stupid-ass fucking hat. Hat-wearing whore.

Well, my favorite, then she's like, the sister's trying to pawn her daughter off on some poor and suspecting guy because she's kind of creepy-looking. And, uh, so yeah, her, her strategy is to invite a bunch of old women over. Yeah. It's a social circle and she's trying to hook them up with her sons or whatever. But I was just like, wouldn't you invite some guys over?

Like, why are you going to invite a bunch of old women over? And then, you know, wonder why she can't find a man. Well, maybe because it's a bunch of 60 year old women sitting. In a room. Yeah.

They're all afraid of invisible bunnies. Yeah, really. They all run out of the house. This is what I don't understand. Dude, it's a fucking bunny.

Like, everyone is, like, freaked out when they leave when he introduces them to Harvey. Okay, like, you've never met a crazy person in your life. And they're all in his house. That's what pisses me off. Well, that's what I think is weird.

I was like, is it really, like, that society in the 50s? Like, was it that much more innocent? Like, did you just not meet crazy people all the time? I mean, I don't know. I mean, our society definitely has gone steadily downhill.

Since then, but still, I mean, these weird, peculiar, and we'll say that, I mean, sometimes when you meet people, they probably are just odd, and they get along just fine, and they have their own little life, and they're, you know, everything's fine. You just have to adjust to the way that they are. You meet people like that every day. I'm sure that we're still around in the 50s, but the way they treat him in this is just like, he is a circus freak, and they run anytime he comes in, and I'm like, basically he's you know just and not even like crazy like there's people crazily like arguing with the invisible people on the street yeah he's like polite and introduces you to his invisible friend i mean he's well-mannered he's more well-mannered than just.

About anybody else you will meet period. Well a lot more well-mannered than me. Yeah so it's like why don't you just you know say oh nice to meet you and go on with your day why do they lose it And run out of the house any time he introduces them. I don't know. That's what I was trying to decide.

Like, if it's really just that shift in, you know... Because, I mean, maybe now we just run into a lot more crazy people. Maybe there's just a lot more crazy people on the street and crazy people in our lives that we've just adjusted to. We were more accustomed to it then. They were more prim and proper.

There was a certain way to be things. Especially in that little society she was bringing people in. They were all very... society-driven and everything had to go by the rules of you don't introduce people to invisible six-foot bunnies. So, yeah, I don't know. That was just, again, there's a lot of weird time consideration that has to be thrown into this.

But let's get into the puka angle. Shells? Like necklaces? Yes. Puka shells.

That's what this is all about. Puka necklaces. Mostly douchebags wear those. Yeah, kind of now. Surfers.

Yeah, in the 70s it was kind of like a surfer, a little more free spirit thing. Now it's like douchebags that bought it at the mall. That bought it at Hollister or Abercrombie. Yeah, it's a lot more douchey now. But no, this one is.

And that's the thing. They do at least sort of spell it out. Because they brought up that term and I was like, I wonder if they're going to. spell it out for people, especially in the 50s, who probably had no idea what that is, because people now don't know what it is. It's actually, and this is what I want to get into, I mean, this could, it's still a very... Should.

We break out our dictionary and see what it says in there? We've got one. Looks blood splattered. Do you want to go get it? Yes.

Jadis brought home this fancy dictionary that has been his dictionary since he was a kid, I'm assuming. Maybe it's like the one he had when he was a kid, I don't know. There you go. It says, like the one. And it's got the, and I've seen this before, it's got the pages that have the red speckles on it, so we decided it looks like blood splatter.

It's pretty exciting. P-O-O, yes. It depends. That's how he spelled it. It's also, I think its official spelling is P-U-C-A with an accent.

But I think it's actually listed. It's in here. Boop, boop. That should not surprise anyone. I don't know.

I'm looking for Pooka. It's not in here. What the fuck kind of dictionary is this? It's got a cocoon. Blood splattered.

So, basically, I mean, this is still a very, like, 50s, nice, happy, friendly movie for the most part. But, I mean, it could have definitely gone a different way because Pooka is Irish for goblin. So, I mean, it could definitely... It is, as I said, it's a creature. Of Celtic folklore, notably in Ireland, the west of Scotland, and Wales, and is one of the fairy folk, and like many fairy folk, is both respected and feared by those who believe in it.

They're also supposed to be, like, mischievous, and they're shapeshifters, and they're capable of assuming a variety of terrifying or pleasing. Forms, some of which are horse, rabbit... goat, goblin, or dog. That's interesting. That kind of makes the movie, like, ten times more interesting. Yeah, it really, that's the thing.

I assumed it was just, he's crazy and it's a big invisible guy, but, like, the fact that it is based. In some sort of mythology is, like, kind of interesting. I did not know that until I sat down this weekend and watched it, so that adds a whole new angle to it and, I guess, brings in more of a where you take the actual storyline and what's really going on there. Well, it's funny. According to the Wikipedia thing, it says no matter what shape the puka takes, its fur is almost always dark.

And this was a white rabbit. Yep. Again. Yeah. They can make up whatever they want.

Mm-hmm. Because my mouth's not in this fucking dictionary. Fuckers. Blood splatters. Fucker.

Don't know shit. So we can go back into the puka angle to the end. But in between now and then, do you want to talk about some of the other sillier things beforehand? Like the hop-hop song? Oh, God.

I don't want to think about that again. Oh, I already blocked it out. Way more jiggling going on than. I ever wanted to see from old ladies. In this room full of old 60-year-old ladies, I do not need to see one.

It's not a... A thin woman decided to get up and do a hop-hop and hacked out the hopping on stage. Yeah, it was disturbing, even our characters. The sisters seemed a little frightened by it, as I was, so that was kind of fun in a scary, scary way. Um, what else?

You want to complain about the flowers, Misty? It's a fucking sign that says, do not pick the flowers, and I'll be goddamned if there are at least two characters that are picking flowers during this fucking movie. Are these fucking... I just can't read. I'm mad.

You don't just go outside and start picking somebody's flowers. It's just fucking rude. I don't care what fucking century it is. You don't go fucking pick their flowers. Was it okay in the 50s to just go fucking pick somebody's flowers?

Obviously not if they were already making signs that told people not to do that. I don't know, was the sign there when they were doing it? I noticed the sign later, but I didn't know if they specifically put the sign in just to fucking work their shit. They put it in because Jimmy Stewart kept messing with their. Hey, even after I saw the sign, I saw his ass picking flowers.

Yeah, he don't care. He lives in his own little world. Or apparently there's a big-ass bunny. You want to tell a man with a big-ass bunny to not pick your flowers? Don't look at that.

So yeah, that's the second time I've heard that rant. Because midway into the movie, Steve had to throw down a rant about picking flowers. You don't just go pick somebody's, you don't mow another man's lawn. And you don't pick their fucking flowers. That's, I mean, that is true if you know anybody who actually takes pride in their landscaping and flowers.

You don't mess with them. I don't really care because I have nothing but dirt in my yard. But I know. Enough to know if people have flowers planted there, they're not just magically growing there. They put a lot of time into them and they're probably going to be mad when you're out there.

Stomping in their yard and pulling their flowers out. Fucker. If I have flowers, nobody better pick them. That's why I ain't got flowers in the front yard. I know some little bastard would pick them.

That's why our flamingos are all in the backyard. Afraid somebody's gonna steal our shit. I don't blame you. I don't trust anybody. Especially with the fake filming clan in our neighborhood.

I don't trust any of them. Yeah, that's true. Along with the other silly things going on. I do like this, which didn't actually occur, but it said online, it said, prior to the release of Harvey, a press release reported that Francis the Talking Mule would have. A cameo appearance in the movie.

Jimmy Stewart would be walking past Francis, and Francis was to speak, and Elwood would turn in order to respond, and Francis would rebuke him and say he was talking to the big rabbit. That's pretty funny, actually. In its own little inside joke sort of way. I don't know what you're talking about. Francis the talking mule.

I have no idea what you're talking about. All right, now we know what we're watching next week. No, we're not. No, we're not, because we already have a movie. I'm out of town.

If you need to watch... Once again, if you need to break yourself in with some Francis and talking mule, we can work that in. I thought that was pretty funny. One more peep out of you, Weisenheimer, and I'll butter your necktie. Can I ask a question?

Mm-hmm. What the hell kind of shot were they going to give him that was going to make his bunny go away? I was kind of waiting to see where that went. We're jumping to the end here, but. I mean, at least if they're going to lobotomize his ass, I can understand that's a fucking surgery or at least an ice pick in the eyeball or something.

What fucking shot are you going to give this guy? It's going to completely change who he is forever. I don't know that it was. See, I was trying to decide. I was waiting to see if it was placebo.

I mean, with somebody that... And since it's all sort of mentally based, I mean, you could say, I'm going to give you this shot and it's going to make you better. And since it's all in his head anyway, it could make him better if he believed it. So, I mean, I wasn't sure. But then the way the cab driver describes it is more like it's some hardcore medical action going on in that room.

It's just that you're not. Going to get from, like, a shot and they're just going to let. You walk out. Yeah. Or something that you're going to take one shot and for the rest of your life you're going to behave like that.

That seems very... far-fetched. But you know again I think they were going more for a theme there than anything else but that's what I originally when they started talking about this magic shot and this ridiculous number that they assigned it or whatever I was just like I was like this sounds made up anyway so it sounds very placebo based. The doctor was a dick anyway yeah okay let's go into these characters so we'll start with that doctor hi I'm Dr. Sanderson Miss Kelly tells me that you're concerned about your brother Mr. Uh Mr. the card Miss Kelly.

Miss Kelly, the card, please. Mr. Dowd, Elmer Peter, this way, yourselves. I'm sorry if I awakened you, Miss Kelly. Yeah, from the first second, he's on screen.

He's just a jackass. He's too young to be a doctor, anyway. I don't trust doctors that young. And he was just an asshole to everybody. And that chick, Kelly, the nurse lady, she was so pretty and so sweet.

I kind of wanted to punch that guy in the face for being mean to her. Let's figure out who Kelly is, because we actually like her. Peggy Dow is Miss Kelly, the nurse. She was so pretty, and she had She was just so damn cute in a little outfit, and she was so skinny. I mean, you could.

She is, like, ridiculously, like, frighteningly thin. Again, in the 50s, I guess, you went for that look. They didn't have McDonald's back then to make your ass fat. Within a couple years, it would have set in and started. Women in the 50s weren't really that skinny.

Well, it was one or the other. It was, like, the skinny women were, like, super skinny, and then you had big-boned girls that, like, it didn't, you know... Again, you just didn't have... the weird, like, body image thing that we have now. It was a little more just how they naturally came out. Yeah, I think it was a more natural thing.

Like, I mean, like, any time. Some women are just really naturally skinny, and some people aren't. It's the same on the average. They were more skinny back then. I don't know.

It's also very waist-oriented, you know? I mean, like, she was normal, like, everywhere else, but her waist is, like, 20 inches around. Like, it's freakishly tiny. Whereas the rest of her seemed like she was probably a normal girl. But, like, you look at her, like, cinched up in her little nurse outfit.

It's like, Lord, that doesn't look healthy at all. Go have a McDonald's in a couple years. Have a Big Mac for that. She was so sweet. The other doctor was a dick.

I didn't like him at all. Dr. Sanderson. Charles Drake. Sounds kind of like an ass, doesn't it?

I don't know. I don't remember seeing him in other stuff. So maybe his performance is different. But in this movie, he's just... He's an ass.

Yeah, he's kind of a jerk the whole time. Oh, let's see. I think the sister does a good job. She's not likable, but... I'm not complaining about her performance as an actress.

I'm just saying she's a bitch. Oh, yeah. I mean, as a character, you don't like her, and she's screwing over her family, basically. But, yeah, Josephine Hull. I'm afraid you're just going to move your ass into somebody's house.

Then try to commit them because you don't agree with their fucking imaginary bunny friend? Dude, fuck you. She's an arsenic in a lace. Is she? She has to have some arsenic.

Egg sliming off. Taking all the scales off. I just wanted to see. I was curious. Are you going to eat one?

Eat it. She's messing with your egg, dude. Dude, that's my dinosaur egg. What are you doing? Nothing, nothing.

Not doing anything. Same thing. I'm going to check on Wilson, because I think there were some. I feel like he's been in a whole ton of shit. Yeah.

I was trying to think. There was something specific I was thinking he was in, but I could be mistaking him for somebody else. I'm probably mistaking him for a guy that was in It's a Wonderful Life. He was in The Bad Seed. That's what it was.

Yeah, see, I don't think he's who I was thinking of, but I am recognizing him from all these other TV shows. The last thing he was in was Seinfeld, so it's good that he worked all the way into 96. But, yeah, he's in The Bad Seed. He's in, like, tons of TV shows. If you go back, like, well, even in the 70s, but all the way back, like, 60s and late 50s, he's in, like, every big TV show.

That's what it was, though. He was in The Bad Seed. Yeah, you'll definitely recognize him when you see him. Did they remake Harvey? Yeah, with Harry Anderson.

Yeah, that's the thing. I mean, we were complaining... He was in the remake. That's funny. We were complaining there, you know, back when we did the story a year or so ago, because Spielberg wanted to do a remake of this recently, and we were like, why?

How would you even do that? But technically, there have been five remakes. There have been five other versions of this other than this one. They're all made for TV. They've never done a theatrical remake, but...

And this is one I thought was interesting. I wanted to see what your thoughts were. So the first one they did was a 1958 version with Art Kearney, which that performance-wise seems interesting. I would see that. But from what I heard, that version, you see Harvey.

You see a big rabbit. Now, doesn't that really change the movie? Like, doesn't that make it an entirely different movie? Yeah, I would think so. I mean, the whole point of it is...

I don't know. It just totally changes the vibe and what you're kind of selling in the movie. I mean, the whole idea is that, you know, everybody thinks he's crazy. You don't know what to think. Initially, you probably think he's crazy.

And by the end, there's this weird, like, you know, question, I suppose. But. it's still, like, very up in the air, and you can kind of take from it what you want. If you see a giant rabbit there from the beginning, it's just about, he's right, everybody else is wrong, and, I mean, I don't know what else you can take from that. Like, it seems like it pulls the story out from under it, like, two minutes in, doesn't it? I mean.

I don't know how I feel about that. Well, think about it. Art Carney and a giant rabbit. I haven't seen it. I need to go find it.

Is it like a cartoon? Is it a guy in a mall outfit? I'm not sure what you see. Is it my aunt? Oh, not your aunt.

Please keep your aunt out of movies. She hasn't worn a bunny suit in a couple years. Your aunt's crazy. She is. So, yeah.

I don't know. That was the only one that was really interesting. There's like two German versions of it that they've done on TV. In 72, Jimmy. Stewart came back and did a different version of it, I guess as an older version of the character.

And then, yeah, in 1998, Harry Anderson and Swoosie Kurtz did a version of it. Is it that recent? Yeah, it's sort of that. Interesting. That's frightening.

Yeah. So, again, I like Harry Anderson, but it's all been downhill since Night Court. I mean, Night Court is awesome. He's really great in it, but you watch him in, like, that next sitcom, what was it, Dave's World or whatever that, thing was, not as charming. So I don't see him pulling off this character the same.

I don't know that anybody could pull it off but Jimmy Stewart, really. That's why it would have been weird for them to try to. Do a remake. Tom Hanks. Tom Patrick Flannery can do it.

Oh, God. Tom Hanks is probably the closest thing. I know some people don't like him, but I'm saying. I don't like him. Yeah, I know.

But, I mean, really, he is that every man. Dane Cook. At some point in this movie, did Jimmy Stewart rip his shirt off and start going, throwing water on himself. And start climbing on shit? That might have made it not seem quite so long.

Oh, man. I'm just joking. I don't like Dane Cook so much. He used to be funny. He used to be awesome.

He used to be awesome. Oh, man. Back in the day, before he made a shitload of shit. He should do movies. Yeah, his movie.

Actually, all of his movies have sucked. Yeah, kind of. And he's the same jackass in every one of them. I guess that's it for the cast, right? The cab driver was an asshole, too.

Which one? The first one or the second? The end. The end? Yeah, he's kind of a jerk, too.

There's a lot of jerky characters that... Again, which is why I guess you end up liking Jimmy Stewart's character so much more. Well, you can't not like him. Yeah, you can't not like Jimmy Stewart. I don't know.

I mean, there's probably people out there that just don't like his delivery. He has a very specific delivery. If you're not into that, you're going to have a problem with. This movie because. It's full-on Jimmy Stewart in his usual form.

But, again, if you're okay with that, he's charming all the time. I love Jimmy Stewart. He makes good sausage. Yeah. I'm fucking with you.

What did you say? He makes good sausage. As the other Jimmy Stewart, I'm fucking with you. It's not the same. I know.

But if he did, I would totally buy Jimmy Stewart sausage. Who was it that did make sausage? Wasn't there somebody? Jimmy D? No, there was somebody else.

One of the singers did. I know. Who was it? Charlie Pryde. Oh, you're on.

It did make me think this is sort of the, probably the reason there is the existence of Drop Dead Fred. I got a lot of that as I'm going through the trying to convince other people this invisible character exists and having him sort of get you in trouble, although he doesn't get him into wacky hijinks the way Drop Dead Fred does, but he does get him into almost getting committed into a sanitarium, so I mean It still gets him into. Trouble, so to speak, but. I love that movie. Oh, no!

Elwood! Elwood, down! Bless your heart. Aunt Ethel. Well, what a pleasure to come in and find a beautiful woman waiting for me.

Why, Elwood, you haven't changed. And now, Aunt Ethel, I'd like you to meet Harvey. Harvey, you've heard me speak of Aunt Ethel Chauvenet. She's one of my oldest and dearest friends. She's the one who.

That's right. Well, this is the one. No, she's the one. He says he would have. Known you anywhere.

Well, now we must go in. And greet the rest of our friends. Come on, Harvey. Oh, Adethel, pardon me, you're. Standing in his way.

I guess to get back to the, because to me it's like, again, it's a very lighthearted movie for what's going on. But let's talk about what could be going on. Like, the way more serious angles there. Like, what is this thing about alcoholism? Makes you see bunnies?

Well, no. It kind of makes you see elephants. I'm confused. Yeah, he's basically, you know, if they wanted to present it differently, he's just a drunk. I mean, all he wants to do, and granted, they put a very good spin on it by the end when he.

Tells the story. But, I mean, all he wants to do is hang out in the bar all day. He freely admits to the fact that he likes a drink. And, you know, he sees an invisible character that he hangs around with. So, I mean, that could be taken a very unhealthy way.

I just kind of think he didn't really have anything better to do. And he hung out in bars. People didn't judge him so much there. You know, like, people on the street were kind of like, ah, weirdo. But, you know, that friend he had in the bar that just got out of jail.

I mean, fuck that guy was, like, in prison. He's not going to judge him for having an invisible rabbit friend. So. I think that was why he hung out in bars. Again, I mean, he puts it in a very nice light, but yeah, I mean, there's a lot of weird, you know, you could take it the fact that he's, this is all alcohol-induced, or the fact that there's this weird, half the thing has to do with mental health, and it certainly doesn't paint the mental health industry in a nice light, so...

I don't know. It's like, that could have gone down a really dark and creepy road, too, if you wanted to focus more on the weird mental health end of it. Stripping down old ladies. Stripping down old ladies. One part I don't understand, after that guy, after she told her daughter about how he, like, ripped her clothes off and stuff like that, and she seemed kind of interested, and then that guy comes over and she's flirting with him.

I'm like, this guy just assaulted your mother and you're trying to fix him a sandwich? She's got mama issues. Yeah. Yeah. And again, she is pretty damn hard up, so.

Yeah. Obviously, because Wilson is not a prize. Yeah, no. He likes some egg and onion sandwiches, though. Oh, and a close talker.

Dude, seriously. We had a lot of issues. Personal space. Where's my bubble? I didn't like that shit.

I mean, there's a little of that going on in general in this movie, but specifically, that one character is always. Up in somebody's group. I mean, I can understand with her, because he's trying to be making time with her, but then he does it to Jimmy Stewart. He started making out with him. He was so damn close.

He does it with everybody. I'm just like, dude, personal space invader. What the hell? Where's this guy out with Pete Dodd that screwballed with a rabbit? What's the matter?

You goofy too? You a member of this cockeyed family? I do like the fact that they try to, you know, since they're working in all this mental health bullshit. And it kind of becomes that. It's like they really do try to psychoanalyze him.

And you get the doctor trying to do his doctor thing. And he's like, tell me about your father. And he's like, oh, he shoots that one down. Didn't you have a playmate as a child? And there was some sort of, you know, you were really close.

And nope, shoots that down. So I like that he tries to take all these very... cliched, psychoanalyzing bullshit angles, and none of them have anything to do with Jimmy Stewart's character. He's, again, maybe it isn't mental health related at all. Maybe it is sort of related to this giant bunny that he's hanging out with. You're confused as to why his dad had a different last name as him.

Did we ever figure out that? Yeah. Was his mom a whore? She's dead. Yeah, his mom's dead.

Did she remarry after his dad died? I don't know. Even so, I don't think he would have taken his stepdad's name. You wouldn't think so. Weird maybe it's an imaginary name maybe his dad was imaginary that's.

What the doctor was going for now you sound like a doctor. Sound like a drag ass well most of the time but we still like it so the awesome. But they also do like a again they do another like this is sort of taking a lot of jabs at mental health because they also do a very like attack on the Freudian way of thinking that, I mean, she even says, is that all these doctors think about is sex? She specifically calls them out for that. And I like that her, you know, her way is to get out of these dark rooms and quit sitting around thinking about sexual pervs and go out for a walk in the sunshine.

You know, it's like, It does. It's a very different. Unless you walk by some pervs. Well, I gotta hang out somewhere. What do you want?

Leave the playground alone. Not the playground. The high school. High school parking lot, maybe. The smoking tree.

I don't like smoking, girls. What are you talking about? Electronic cigarette, maybe. That's questionable. Unless they'll know you care.

Not in that way. Oh, not Feldman, anyway. Payne was way prettier. Sorry. But yeah, I thought that, I mean, again, it was taking another shot at your very standard psychoanalyzing and ridiculous mental health bullshit that I thought was kind of funny, since it's all about a guy who's arguably crazy.

I've had imaginary boyfriends for years. Does that mean I was crazy? Yeah. Oh. Yeah.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure I told you that all along, too. I imagine my boyfriends were at least real people. They just didn't know they were your boyfriends. They didn't know.

Exactly. I have that, too. I had some really pretty ones, though. Me, too. One was six foot four and a half.

He was taller than Harvey. I mean. And I want to know, was that including his ears? I don't think so. Again, I think six foot eight is probably still his head. ears, he could be huge.

Oh, God. Because, I mean, that's where Jimmy Stewart's looking at him, so I'm assuming he's looking him in the face, but still only a few inches higher than his face, which is 6'3. I had a problem with the hat that they claimed was the rabbit's, too, because those holes were too small, and if it's a huge-ass bunny, its head's probably going to be a little bit, not the same shape as a human's. Well, you see him, too. I mean, by the end of it, you see what he looks like.

He does look like he's got a pretty large head and giant ears. That hat would not have fucking fit. Those holes were not big enough. That's just impractical. Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick.

That's just not right. Exactly. I concur. I mean, what's up with that? So then I guess the big question for it is, is Harvey real?

I thought he was. I mean, in the beginning, I didn't even question it that he was. I assumed he was a figment of his imagination. When they enter into this whole, like, goblin aspect that he actually could be a mystical figure. I mean, when he's following the doctor around and the doors are opening.

The doctor's drunk at that point. Oh, that's true. I mean we as the audience see the doors opening and we see the swing moving so i mean they do throw that aspect of of questioning it at this point of okay we just saw that happen does that mean there's actually something there But I think even if you take that out, you do have to kind of look at it one way or the other and be like, okay, what way am I taking this movie? Am I taking it as though he's crazy, but in that craziness he's more wise than most people? Or is this actually a physical thing, invisible, but still a.

Physical presence of some sort that is really interacting with people? I don't know. Where do you take it? It's too complicated for my brain. I like to think that Harvey's real just because.

By the end of this, they make it seem like that. They definitely take it down that road. I mean, I think. In the end it really doesn't matter. Like, again, I think you almost go back to what that first one was, was in his own weird craziness, now whether it's brought upon by an actual mythological creature or just his crazy head, it's like whatever state.

Put Jimmy Stewart's character in this frame of mind It worked. Because in a way, I mean, he's better than everybody else, you know? It's like he is a nicer person. He's nicer to be around. He's polite.

He's, you know, cordial. I mean, everything about him is positive. Well, see, there was a point in the movie where he said he tried to live in reality for 35 years and gave up on that because it didn't work. She said he was 42. So for seven years, I guess that meant that he had Harvey, right?

Yeah. I'm assuming. Yeah. Something like that. He didn't say that he gave up.

He said he beat out on reality. I mean, that he won over reality. Reality sucks. I mean, really. So.

But, I mean, I don't know. It leads you to that, where everybody else is doing things the normal way, and they're all kind of miserable and screwing up their lives, and he's doing things this very, like, selfless way. Like, everything about him is... concerned with other people, you know? You should sit down, you know? Or all the, like, ridiculously nice things he says to the nurse.

Well, she deserved him because she was so pretty. But, see, that's the thing. If anybody else were delivering the lines that he was, I'd be like, ugh. I would just be, like, ready to smack him because I would assume in any other case they were making time with the nurse. They were hitting on her.

They were putting it towards their own benefit. And that's not the case with him. It's like every time... It's very selfless, and it's not trying to get him anywhere. It's not trying to accomplish anything other than make her feel better.

And by the end, he's pairing her up with somebody else. So it is true. He really isn't trying to move in on her. Yeah, but he's trying to pair her up with somebody who's a jackass. But he sees potential in him, too.

Again, everything about him is just good. He sees the best in everybody. He lives in this... This reality where it's like he doesn't live in the real world. He lives in the way the world should be.

And people should be nice. And that doctor shouldn't be a jackass. And he should pay attention to the nurse. I don't know. I think it is that he is on this. almost higher level of consciousness where he actually sees the way things should be and is trying to make him better that way.

He's trying to lead by example, I guess, and be like, if I'm nice, maybe it'll rub off on people. And it seems to. Like, the people around him, the people who quote-unquote see Harvey... Didn't become really nice. You look at, like, the guy who was doing time in prison.

It's like, if he didn't tell you that, you'd. Think, I mean, he's an old, weird-looking dude, but other than that, he's really nice, you know? He's like one of the most friendly and nice people in this movie, you know? And he's the one talking about doing a couple stints in prison. So it's like, again, it's the people who pick up on that are the ones that start to become, you know, in a better frame of mind, kind of the way that, like, the way that Elwood is.

I mean, it's... He really, I mean, he even said right off the bat, like, the first, one of the first lines that comes out of him is, every day is a beautiful day. So, I mean, it really is that, you know, he's found this other level. Of consciousness where he, and again, I'm watching it going, need to learn something from this guy because I'm miserable a good portion of the time. It is sort of like trying to appreciate what you have, you know, to live every day to the fullest.

It's very cliche, but I. Think it shows this guy who lives to, Aside from the fact he doesn't have to worry about money, other than that, he lives a relatively simple life. He doesn't do that much. Basically, he just spends his day getting to know people and trying to make, you know, people feel better. Handing out cards.

Handing out business cards, which I was never really sure what the hell was going on with that angle. I mean, I guess it was just before people had cell phones, so he wanted to keep in contact with everybody. He wanted to make sure everybody had his phone number. That's what he says. That is bullshit.

I got enough. I mean, that's the thing. I'm a closed-off bastard, and I don't look to make friends with everybody in the world because I don't like a lot of these people. A lot of you people. No, I said these people, not you people.

Our listeners are awesome. But, no, I mean, I think there is something to be said of still being kind of open to it. I mean, you do see how much happier he is accepting these aspects in life, and everybody else is closed off to him and are usually kind of, miserable like his sister like you know the daughter i mean they're they're so busy being concerned about themselves that they're unhappy all the time whereas he's concerned about making other people happy and in the process he's happy. The line where he says you either have to be his mom said either to be smart or be pleasant and i'll take pleasant. You can quote me on that I'm both.

I'm shocked we'll close it. And humble. I am. What's humble ever gotten anybody? Fuck, I'm serious.

The meek will inherit nothing, really, in the real world. Sorry, Bible. That's not really how it works. Once again, you were wrong. The sad thing is you said that I thought more of the Twilight Zone.

Oh, whoops. That's right. I should quote the more impressive one. What? The Twilight Zone.

We rank that just above the Bible. I do. I wouldn't know. I rank it way above. But that's just me.

So, I don't know. That's, I think, the bulk of it. I think it's... I like that message that's getting through. Again.

I'm a bastard, and I don't necessarily subscribe to it 100%. I will freely admit to that. But I think there's something to be said. I think in the end, that's, I mean, the most impressive thing you take from this is that message that kind of comes out of it, regardless of whether you believe in this invisible bunny rabbit. I think there's a bigger message to it than that, and I think that's kind of what comes through.

That and the performances. Again, Jimmy Stewart. I mean. Even he says this is his favorite performance. I mean, and he's in It's a Wonderful Life.

He's in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. So, I mean, he's got some of the most iconic cinematic performances ever, and he likes this one best, you know? I still prefer It's a Wonderful Life. I like It's a Wonderful Life.

I would still probably kind of put that over it. Even as a performance, I think it's a little more layered. It's a little more depth to it. Anybody who laughs at stuff that's not funny in It's a Wonderful Life needs to be strung out into the street and beat. You're going to have to explain that because nobody else knows.

I know what you're talking about and I know who you're talking about. My sister's ex-boyfriend, she brought him over to the house to watch it on Christmas Eve, which is what we do every year, and he's sitting there fucking laughing at shit that's not fucking funny. George is there having his meltdown, throwing his shit up in the air, scaring the hell out of his kids. This fucker's sitting there laughing. Yeah, that's a traumatizing scene.

Like, I watched it this year and I was just like, It's a hard scene to watch. Like, it really is. Not only him losing it, but you're watching him, like, scar these children that he loves. I mean, it's a hard scene to watch. So imagining some jackass laughing at it, I'd want to punch him, too.

Ah, I hated that guy. I don't think it's an exploit. Yeah, he was a douchebag. That's why, because you disapproved of him and she went, yes, Miss T, you're right. His name's Dan, if anybody knows him.

He's an asshole. We can point him out. He's got moves. Moves? Moves.

She would have dumped him for that all along. I'm just kidding. That fits. It's not even out there for moves. Except for Dan.

Yeah, Vince did it. Don't mind. Don't laugh at you. She brought her new boyfriend over this year, and he tried to test me. He laughed because I'm the one funny thing that looked at me, and my sister almost had a fucking heart attack.

She's like... Did she tell him? Yeah, he knows. I told him. Don't laugh.

You dare laugh at things that aren't funny. Listen, if you're like the last one, you'll be out of here. In a minute. Yeah, where's his ass at now, huh? See?

Yeah, don't laugh at you. That's not funny. And there are some things in there that are, you know, you can. There's legitimate comedy in that movie. I mean, there's plenty of stuff that's meant to be light.

That is not that moment. Yeah, shit's not funny. You don't... I'm a fucking heartless bitch, but that shit's fucking bad and traumatizing. It's wrong.

It is, dude. I was like. Yeah, fuck that guy. It's wonderful. Life's fucking awesome.

It is awesome. And again, he's just, you know... That's probably the, like, dividing line, though. I mean, it's so based around Jimmy Stewart and... his performance, and liking his performance. That is like, if you have a problem with him, well, first you're a heartless bastard.

But on top of that, I think you're also, there's no way you're going to be able to like this movie. I mean, it's all built around what a likable character Jimmy Stewart is, basically. So I think it all kind of hinges on that for the viewer as well. Other than that, you have pacing issues, but that's about it. It was slow.

There were scenes that just needed to be gone and just edited a little bit. It could have tightened it up from the play format. It seemed like it was almost two hours. It's not staged. I mean, it does move like a movie.

It's not all on one set. They move around a good amount, but it's still pretty wordy. Yeah. A lot of words, and any words that weren't coming from Jimmy Stewart probably just could have been deleted. There is.

I mean, and it does slow down. Like, after the scene in the alley, it seems like that should be kind of getting near the wrap-up, and there's a good. what 20 minutes or more. Longer because it was 20 minutes when i paused it to see how much longer. Yeah so i mean it's it was like. Oh my god how much longer is.

It probably should have wrapped up a little sooner but again it's it's still pretty damn impressive. It's all right i'll probably never watch it again blasphemy yeah i'd rather watch this than night of the leapus. It was awesome Harvey is a better movie. I'm not going to pretend like it isn't. I mean, like I said, and I feel like I should like that movie since my grandpa built the entire set with his own two hands.

But no, I could live without it. And that movie has made my mom afraid of rabbits. She's still afraid of rabbits. Let's see, now there's a real example. You think Harvey needs to be trimmed down.

Night of the Lepus needs to be about half an hour. It could have cut out half of the film. They could have cut out half of that. It could have. I mean, yeah, the joke is over pretty quick in that movie.

They really could have made it like a 10, 15 minute short, tops, and covered all your bases. They should make. A movie of Benicula. Do they have a movie of it? I don't know if they have one.

They should. Vampires and rabbits are totally the end thing. That's true. I kind of want to see Hop. He poops jelly beans.

I hate jelly beans. I heard it was terrible. Jelly beans are creepy. I hate jelly beans. Why are they creepy?

They just have a weird texture. I don't like them. I like the black ones. Gross. That's nasty.

I like the black ones. Not even the Starburst flavored ones? Or like the other flavored ones that are delicious? I don't like any Starburst or any jelly beans. My grandma loves the...

Black jelly beans. I like jelly bellies. She had some, like, right at, like, weeks ago, because we walked in her house, and I'm like, I smell black jelly beans. She's like, and she pulled them out of her face. She has one of those, uh, fucking walkers.

It has a basket, like a, like a, where you can sit down in it, too, with, like, a lid. Does she have a bell on it? No, but she lifts it up, and she's like, ha, ha, ha. She had her jelly beans. But she's cool, I told you.

Carrying around black jelly beans. She's awesome. She's gonna have room for them jelly beans in that purse when she got that dog in there. My grandma's awesome. My grandma's the best.

Alright, so I guess that wraps up Harvey, so we will take a break and come back with the rest of the show. I'm a rabbit in your headlights Scared. Of the spotlight You don't. Come to visit. I'm stuck in this bed.

Thin rubber gloves She laughs when she's crying She cries when she's laughing Thanks, Mr. Bunny. Thank you, Mr. Bunny. Thank you, Mr.

Thank you, Bunny! Listen. Do you hear it? It's getting closer. Much closer.

Be very, very afraid. I've got a. Message for you. Pray for death. I'm Gray.

Take a journey with me through the dark side of cinema in the Dark Hours Horror Podcast. Find it at thedarkhours.net. Dark Hours. Terror has no. Shape.

Far beyond anything your mind could ever conceive. It's part of your problem, you know. You haven't seen enough movies. All of life's riddles are. Answered in the movies.

And now, on with the show. The time is like a watcher on your face. So cast yourself before. I love that song. That is a great song.

I touched that guy's underpants. Who? What? That's just a side story. Mark McGrath, Sugar Egg.

It's an awesome song. And I touched his underpants. How did she touch his underpants? She did. I witnessed it.

Fine. I touched his sweaty arm. Did you guys pay to go see a Sugar Ray concert? Wasn't that the free one? I think it was free, wasn't it?

Okay. We've seen them twice. The first one we did pay for. Yikes. Hey, they're an entirely different band than what you think they are.

I kind of doubt that. Well, now they're non-existent, but... No, seriously. I can play you shit that you will not believe is them. Mean Machine kicks ass.

Yeah. There's some shit that you will not believe is them. So I touched Mark McGrath's underpants I think there's a picture of me doing it too. I believe so alright we're back and we have feedback from the listener formerly known as Eskimo formerly known? Is he a symbol now?

He has a real name now not a symbol? he's not a glyph now oh okay his. Real name's James hey moving meltdowners this is James Uh, small-time sucker punch. I'm driving, so if there's like tons of road noise, it's just not like crap. You know, it's near something. Anyway, sucker punch.

Couple things. Brian has said something about the, uh, the layers of the fantasies. You have the brothel layer and then the deeper layer. Kind of like the, it is kind of like the, uh, reception thing where, you know, They go deeper and deeper and all that crap. You can probably.

Dig around and trade theories on why she chose a brothel lair. From a storytelling standpoint, the point of the brothel lair was so that we did not have to see these girls being repeatedly molested and raped by the by at least the main guard. I think most of the guards, based on the comment at the end of the movie, and hey, spoiler alert here, the comment at the end of the movie is by the guards that they don't want to hurt any more of these girls. So, I think Mr. Blue, I can't remember his real life.

Name or whatever, but Mr. Blue was having all kinds of seemingly fun moments with the girls. And I think, but I don't know if he preferred the lobotomized girls. And I also think that the, the various dance sequences was them using their sexuality, their, you know, places seducing these people to distract, quote unquote, distract them while, uh, They're pulling their little papers. So.

It is possible. Though I don't... This is just a kind of gross sort of theory that I cling to. I think that every time Babydoll danced, she was having... Yeah.

Anyway. Ew. So that's why they did the brothel lair. Because ew. The lobotomy...

Or alert, I guess. The lobotomy... occurred at the beginning, and all the fantasy started when she got lobotomized. Uh, so the, all the fantasies we see are basically her lobotomized mind taking everything that happened to her while she was there and laying this crazy fantasy crap over it. Uh, again, fractured mind trying to deal with all the bullshit she's been through. Uh, last thing, uh, was, uh, Angela pointed out that she didn't think that Sweet Pea actually got on the, like, the scene of Sweet Pea getting on the bus, that wasn't Sweet Pea, that wasn't Baby Doll's mind.

That's why, uh, Scott Glenn was there, and that's why Sweet Pea looked all pretty and hair all clean and looked way nicer than someone who's running from the law should look. I love this movie. It's awesome. And, uh, That was just what I wanted to share, I guess. Hopefully you play this one and not the first one.

Yeah, he actually had two, and it's sort of a piece together, both of those. The first half is the first one, and then he went into the lobotomy in part on the second half there. So, yeah, this is actually, I think, the earlier message, because since then I've brought up a whole other issue with him that I think has sort of broken his brain. But eventually he decided I think he was on board with it. So first, I mean, we didn't really get into it.

That's kind of why I wish we had more time beforehand because I just saw it and then was thrown into the whole mess of the Horror Hound last weekend. So we didn't really get a chance to address some of the weird stuff going on in this plot. So I wanted to sort of go back on that and see what your thoughts were. On some of these things that we didn't really touch on, Steve, I mean, we brought up some of the stuff. I mean, Jay was saying that he thought that's why she created the brothel, because he didn't want to see the horrible things going on in the sanitarium.

But I think the lobotomy happened at the end, because they say that she had caused all this trouble. If it had happened at the beginning, then she wouldn't have, you know, because they mention, they say in the movie. That she helped a girl escape. You know, and it's not like it's, she's lobotomized already, so I mean, it's not like, You know, I don't think that's part of her fantasy, really. So, I mean, I think that she did help the girl.

Maybe she didn't escape in the same image that, you know, that was portrayed. Maybe that's just her vision of it. Maybe it happened in a different way that. I don't know. Yeah.

You know. There's a whole other theory that I'll save that one for the end. But, yeah, I was going to get into what your thoughts were on that one. But I also didn't get into the. I mean, the.

I don't know. I mean, as a girl watching it, I mean, in. they bring up all these weird things and there's all this weird backlash he's gotten from people who weren't paying that close attention that say it's like over-sexualizing the girls and it's sort. Of making them. It's pretending like it's feminist, but actually it's just selling them out and putting them in skimpy little costumes. Then I hear other people that go way deeper into it and say they're like using their sexuality, like he was saying, to actually using it against the men that are keeping them captive and using it to get what they want and to get out.

And so. I don't know. I mean, did you take, where does your thoughts go on any of this? I agree with them using, you know, that they were using their sexuality to get what they want because, you know, I'm still confused by why he thinks that she was a bottom-mouse at the beginning because they make comments later. On about how they did get all this stuff and they did take it.

So, you know, maybe they were screwing around with these guys, you know, the whole dance thing or whatever. Maybe that's, you know, the way to sugarcoat things so you, you know, didn't have to see the bad things that were happening, but they were using their sexuality to get these things that they needed to, you know, try to escape, you know? But my question then becomes, I mean, as much as they're, and don't get me wrong, they're all cute chicks, and I like them in their little outfits, but. Except for Jenna Malone. Except for Jenna Malone.

She has bad hair. And pucker mouth. I didn't like her. Stinked her mouth. But, um, I mean.

It was weird. I didn't like it. Did you forget that from when I was asleep? You were asleep. I was asleep.

But, um, I don't know. Then I guess my question is, so within the context of the story, they're kind of. Using their sexuality... But how much is Zack Snyder really using their sexuality to sell his movie? Did whatever.

It worked for me. I mean, it works. From that aesthetic level, I am pleased with it. It's a beautiful movie. I think they're super cute.

And the scenes look good. But I'm just like, I don't know. It becomes both. It's like I understand the point it's trying to make, but at the same time, he's almost canceling out his point by also using them for that same reason. I don't know.

I mean, it seems like it's playing on the geek market so much that guys like girls dressed up in little schoolgirl outfits with samurai swords. But then they're also there. I think there is. I mean, we were originally, you know, a lot of people were trying to write it off as being a very shallow movie. I think based on a lot of this that we've seen, there's a lot more going on in this movie than people even realize.

I mean, you can take it at face value and there's nothing to it really other than a bunch of crazy stuff blowing up and monsters and whatever. But, I think there's a lot more going on. I just don't know. Again, I sometimes question where his morals lie in this project. Morals?

You think somebody in Hollywood's got morals? That's what I'm saying. But, I mean, that's what's confusing because, like, if he didn't care, if he was just using them for nothing but, you know, the T & A and let's sell this movie... then okay. That'd be fine. But there's obviously a lot more work put into this and a lot more stuff layered into the script than you notice right off.

So, I mean, to put that much work into it, I almost think you would also give them a little more credit as actresses, as female characters, and I don't know. It's a weird mixture, isn't it? I don't know. I liked it. I don't care what anybody says.

Yeah, it is a weird mixture, and And he could have gone farther with it, if that's what everybody wants to say. I mean, there could have been gratuitous nudity. Yeah, I mean, he stopped it at PG-13. You know, so obviously he wasn't going to go that far with it so that it was at that level. Where there was, you know, naked chicks running around.

Yeah. So, I mean. He capped it off, at least. Yeah, at least it wasn't, you know, boobies flapping about and everything. That's not very pro-feminine.

Flapping about, yeah. Okay, then we'll go into the other. Have you heard any other stories about it? Because it's funny, when I heard it the first time, you kind of touched on it in your discussion the week before, before I'd heard anybody else talk about it. But then that following week, I heard somebody else, and I've now seen there's like four or five different reviewers that have kind of come up with the same.

Was it during podcast things? Yeah. I don't listen to podcasts. I haven't heard anything else. Well, the general internet is loaded with geeks, so now they're all kind of talking about it. some of which I've now helped pass it on to, like James, who is now sort of on board with this idea.

But I've heard several. Reviewers now pose this theory that, basically, Babydoll is just a figment of Sweet Pea's imagination. Yeah. And I think you kind of said something along those lines, but, I mean, it goes into this grand... Like, the more you look at it, it almost makes sense.

And if this is the case, I really want to give Zack Snyder credit, because... If he put this much work into this grand overall plot, and it really was that thought out, and then dropped these other things in to almost make it a little, to sort of throw you off a little bit and catch. You off guard. Because, and this was the one I thought was really interesting. If you remember that first scene coming in, it's all on a set.

You see the background, you see the curtain opens up. I mean, it's very much a production. So, and you see when they come into that scene later... when they go into the sanitarium and they're doing their little thing, like, you've got Sweet Pea up on the stage pretending to be Baby Doll. So it's like that, I think, is really interesting if you want to start taking that somewhere. But then the more the theory goes on, it's like that Baby Doll doesn't exist.

She's the part of Sweet Pea's mind that she, like, brings about to get her out of these situations. That she is the hero that she needs to make her do these things. And then they talk about, they also. I mean, the story got a lot of Flack, even for me, I had issues with the story, saying there wasn't enough story with the girls. Well, now they're saying that the backstory between Babydoll and her sister is Sweet Pea and Rocket's backstory, and that she ends up getting Rocket killed, which is kind of how it goes.

I mean, these fictional versions of what happened in her mind are really kind of this mirror reflection of what actually happened that got her there. I mean, all of this is kind of pretty impressive if it's real, if it was plotted out beforehand. I mean, I like throwing it out there either way. I think it's really interesting regardless. But I think it's way more interesting a movie if he put that much thought.

Into what he came up with. Because then in the end, it's like you do get the whole lobotomizing portion in. And at that point, then it takes the whole question earlier out of the picture because it doesn't matter. Well, because they. Well, that's the point they compare the lobotomizationist to paradise.

It's your freedom. And it's... That's why I thought. That's why I kind of got the impression it was when Sweet Pea got her freedom is that they say, you know, same moment the baby doll got... Because then the fact that they wouldn't show baby doll right after it happened, I'm like, oh, God, it's going to.

Be Sweet Pea. But I don't know. I don't know. So then there's... Yeah, there's...

People saying that that whole thing isn't. Real and then maybe she escaped and the lobotomy didn't happen. But then there's other schools of thought that are like, the lobotomy happened and the entire story is a figment of the flash that goes through her mind the second before she gets hit. And then none of it took place. But they say at the end what she did.

They say at the end that she got, you know, two girls killed and she, you know. But are they really talking about her or Sweet Pea? But it doesn't matter which one specifically they're talking about because that stuff still happened. Even if it's Sweet Pea or Baby Doll that did it, that stuff couldn't have all been in her head. The entire thing couldn't have all been in her head if she did get these girls killed and she did get a girl free.

I don't remember what point they said that. It was at the very end of the movie when they were talking to the... I don't know who she was talking to. The teacher chick? Carla?

Yeah, because when the guy who was asking about the. Signature or whatever... And she was just saying it wasn't her signature. Or they were talking about what had gone on while that girl was there. So some of it, to some degree, happened.

All right? Again, that's the thing. If nothing else, this makes you want to go back and watch the movie again. Because there's... And that's what I say.

There's so much layered into it that you really do need to watch it a couple of times to really kind of get a handle on it. on what all is going on for something that could very easily be dismissed as just a dumb movie with girls in outfits and accessories. and yeah i don't know i think in. Some way it's going to be a downfall to it because people they're that's what they're going to look at and see they're not going to want to see a movie that's got you know a deeper story they're like oh it's chicks running around half naked let's watch. This And that, well, I would say that worked, but it made nothing at the box office, so it didn't work. Like, it wasn't, if that was their plan, it failed, because that angle of it, maybe he should have played up the story more.

Maybe he should have made it seem like a deeper movie, because it did terrible at the box office opening weekend, and they said there was like a 70% drop. Off the second week. I don't even think, when we went to the movies last night to see Hannah, it wasn't there anymore. Like, it's gone already. I don't know if it hit second run, maybe, or if it's just totally gotten pulled, but within two weeks.

I mean, it completely fell off their radar, and that's sad because... Something that's got this much going on that can bring up this much conversation. And, I mean, that obviously is a movie that's got something to offer. I mean, even if you don't necessarily like it 100%, I mean, it's definitely... But it.

Doesn't look like it has that much to offer, so it's going to be a hard sell. It's a hard sell. Getting most people to go, because, like. Oh, it's just a stupid action movie with chicks and guns. Which will be like an old person saying it.

Teenage boys are going to be like... I don't know. Teenage boys don't want to think about deeper things. They want to see girls in outfits with samurai swords. So, I don't know.

I mean, and that's part of it, I guess, is that weird in-between state that it exists in is probably its downfall, because that's why it doesn't find a mass home with anybody. It's like, only geeks who like to talk a whole lot about movies have latched onto it now, but... Everybody else is sort of didn't care or seen it and doesn't care enough to go back and watch it again. So, I don't know. I just thought the whole thing was interesting.

I have a feeling you're going to find something different in it every time you watch it. Probably. You'll come away with a different opinion of it every time you watch it and a different theory as to what just happened. There's a lot going on there. Hell, I got several theories and only seen one.

You know, that's what I'm saying. And there was stuff that I thought going into it and then didn't even think about some of these other ones. So, people are coming up with entirely different theories. I mean, it's... It's just an interesting movie regardless, even if people have issues with it.

I still had fun with it, and I still think visually it's amazing, and I kind of want to go back and watch it again and figure out more of the story. It'll be on DVD soon enough. In two weeks, probably, because it's not in theaters now. But, yeah, I don't know. I thought that was interesting.

And, yeah, I think James, I sent him some of that story, just the basic rundown of that, and he found, like, a version of it online. He was like, okay, I think I'm on board with the sweet peas theory. So I think he's kind of interested in that one now, too. So I think that's good that we've all kind of gotten more out of this than we ever expected to. Now we'll just see what he does with Superman.

Oh, God. Lord only knows. British Superman, my ass. Is that who? Who did they cast?

Some British guy. Henry Cahill? Yeah. I remember they said they cast it, but I don't think I paid that much attention. I probably got his name wrong.

I don't care that much. I've never seen a Superman movie in my entire life. Last one, man. I watched with Smallville. Smallville, again.

The early days of that was pretty good. Michael Rosenbaum was hot. Tom Welling is a hell of a. Again, why didn't they just go ahead and give it to him? He's been auditioning for like nine years now.

That show has been on way too fucking long. Yeah, they need to wrap that up a long time ago. But he's so good at it that I'm just like, go ahead and give him the damn franchise. Just give him the movie. He's good at being Superman, obviously.

He's been doing it for half his life now. Are they still trying to pretend like he's in high school? He's in college. He's probably out by now. He's got a job.

He's a big reporter. He's in college? I don't know. He would have had to if he's going to work for the Daily News or whatever it's called. Not if you have the inside track.

You hooked up with the Luthers, you can do whatever the hell you want in that town. I wish Luther was hot in that show. Is he even still on that show? I don't know. They wrote him out a while ago.

Mostly because Rosenbaum didn't want to come back. I heard he was going to come back for the series finale, but they weren't really sure. It's only a couple weeks off, so we'll see. I won't. His dad came back.

I mean, Lionel's back in. That guy's a jerk. He's a jerk. Don't be shy. We'd like to hear from you.

So give us a call at 502-365-5565. Or you can email us at geeksatmoviemeltdown.com. And just stop by the website for our frequent updates. That's moviemeltdown.com. We couldn't remake that movie.

They tried to. Drop Dead Fred is Vivian from The Young Ones, right? Yeah. Okay. I know.

Not Vivian. Someone in The Young Ones, though. Yeah, it's the other one. It's Rick. Yeah.

Yeah, it's Rick Mayhem. But yeah, they were trying to do that with Russell Brand again. I'm hoping it totally fell through. I mean, I feel like there's a lot better. I like Russell Brand.

I know everyone here hates Russell Brand. I do. I hate him. I understand that everyone hates Russell Brand, but I mean, I understand they want a quirky British actor, but there are better British actors out there. I mean, fuck, there's a ton of really good British actors that are hilarious.

Russell Brand is... I mean, I think it's funny most. People don't... He's not even an actor, though. He just does his thing.

Like, there's no acting to it. He just... He has... and he puts it on, and I don't think he puts it on. That's the way he is, and he acts like an idiot. Yeah, I feel like you all really should watch Get Him to the Greek because it doesn't sound like a good movie, but it's really hilarious.

I heard a bad review yesterday. Tell me how awesome it is. I heard a bad review yesterday. It's funny. When we also decided that Russell Brand is read at about $ 14.

59. $ 14. 59. His time's about over. Dude, now he's at like 16 and a half. Well, I said it gave him an extra year because he's now Mr.

Katy Perry. I think he coasted on that for the last year. I don't know. I think people are, especially after Arthur, I think it's going to take him down. Yeah.

I mean, I saw this magazine at Meijer the other day that was all about Katy Perry, and I think she's really pretty, so I'm like, oh, Katy Perry. And I'm looking for it. I thought she was way prettier back when she was Zooey Deschanel. Dang. Yeah.

Yeah. She is pretty. Okay, sorry. Yeah, I do like Zooey Deschanel much better. Don't get me wrong.

But I do think Katy Perry's pretty. But it was like a book all about her, but I swear whoever put the book together hated her guts because it was just like every picture of her at a bad angle with like acne all over her face and a double chin and like. Pictures of me is what they put together. No. They were like literally all the pictures...

No one can see this, so I'm going to make this face. All the pictures in the book, she was like. Those, and that's the thing, I've seen those kind of magazines before. I think what it is, is those are super low-rent magazines, and they can't afford the big fancy shots. Like, all the ones that make it into big-name magazines, they charge, they're actually done in professional photo shoots, they charge big money to reprint them, they get random paparazzi crap that probably ends up on the internet, or, like, stuff that's just.

Maybe they can just buy those photos. For cheaper than you can. Yeah, well, I mean, I'm sure they're, like, nothing, because they're terrible. So, I mean, it's like... you just load up on those photos because they're cheap or free and make your stupid book. And yeah, I mean, because they know it's only going to get bought for the next month.

And then her, you know, whatever that trend of the moment's over with. So there's no money, you know, there's no point in investing real money in it. So, yeah, but it was funny. Okay, kids, get out your decoder bins. I could tell that tonight's message was really important.

Don't you have an Easter special? No. Chicken plucking or something? No. Paka, paka, paka.

A-koodle-doodle-doo. A-koodle-doodle-doo. What the hell kind of animal makes those sounds? A retarded animal? Have you seen Arrested Development?

Where everyone, like, they're like, come on, chicken! And they all have, like, these completely wrong. sounds sort of chicken sounds like the mom's like a coodle doodle do a coodle doodle do and jobe is like kaka kaka kaka kaka kaka it's so. Funny that's been a while since i've seen that. Wow there you go that's quite a build up for that one who needs a fanfare it is time for the movie lockdown secret circle reveal of the next exciting feature which it actually is i'm looking. Forward to this one If Misty was not escaping the city, she would also be looking forward to it.

I got Elvi to go watch. You're going to go stalk some Elvis. Elvi sounds like elves, not like Elvises. Like, I'm going to go to some hobbit convention. Yeah, Lord of the Rings dressed as Orlando.

I'm going to an Elvis impersonator contest. Why would you go dressed as Orlando? Shouldn't you go dressed as one of the ladies? No, he's an elf. Everybody loves Orlando in that movie.

Oh, okay. I thought you were talking about Misty going dressed up. No, she should still go dressed to the Elvis convention as Orlando Bloom. I got my pillowcase that has his face on it, so I just put that over my head. Yeah, just wear it over your head and walk around.

See what happens. Walk into stuff. That's the funny part. That's why I'm telling you to do it. Thanks.

You'll be tripping over shit, and I'll be like, I can't believe she did it. So, while you're Elvis-ing the rest of us, we'll be back for... Another first run movie, which, you know, every once in a while we do that. But this one was a big enough return to the theater that I thought we had to see it. I'm jealous because I do want to go see this one.

I'll probably go see it later. We will be going to see Scream 4. Hell yeah. And putting together, hopefully, a pretty decent group discussion. We're trying to get the coffee shop theme going this time, so we'll see. who we can bring on board and discuss the new entry in the Scream series.

Wes has come back to beat the horse one more time. So I don't know. And that's kind of why I wanted to go ahead and do that one. I think, good or bad, there's going to be a lot there. There's going to be a lot to look at and see what he has done with the genre, what he's now trying to do that's different, if he's doing anything different.

I think there's a lot to look at on that one. So it should be interesting. I once heard a friend say just the other day, I'm not really interested in seeing the new screen because Rose McGowan's not in it and her nipples aren't going to be in it. Because apparently her nipples were hard the whole movie. Pretty sure her nipples weren't in 2 or 3 either.

Yeah, I know. Well, I don't think you bothered to say 2 or 3. But the first one, apparently, they were not, like, actually visible, but. They were the star of the show. They were the star.

They kind of were. I don't remember, but I don't really notice things like that. You missing out? At least back then. I don't know if we want to see it now, anyway.

I don't know. She looks the same. Kind of, but that's, you know, with a lot of makeup and things holding her in place. A lot of duct tape. Oh, Lord.

Anything else to round out this spectacular Easter episode? Eggster special Easter. Any other bad pun you want to work in? Any more animal sounds you want to make? Eggstravaganza.

Make a bunny rabbit noise. Go! Yay, I did it. Do bunny rabbits hiss when they're mad? I don't think bunny rabbits are allowed to get mad.

Yeah, they get scared and they just have heart attacks. Yeah, they just get eaten by whatever is chasing them. That's how it works. My cousin wants to pet bunny rabbits. And for some reason, she put them in a garbage bag and sat on them.

She was only, like, four. But I had to, like, wrestle this four-year-old who was fighting me because she was trying to suffocate and squash her two pet. Bunny rabbits at once. This is an uplifting story for Easter. My mom's got a bunny rabbit.

It's alive, so she hasn't tried to squish it at all that I know of. Well, my friend once had a bunny rabbit named Hot Action Jackson that her brother got her, and she didn't really want it. But it had this weird, like, neurological problem, and it, like, somehow managed to climb on top of the sewing machine table and fall off and have a seizure and die. My mom's rabbit had babies because when they went to the, they picked up bunnies, they told them that one was a girl, they were both girls, and that was not true. We had that game with hamsters when I was a kid.

Look at these two girls! We gave one to my aunt, and it cheered through the power cord on her VCR, and it fried itself. I'm like, my aunt has six kids. It was probably just trying to get away. Probably.

I don't blame you. The end. All right, that about does it. We will return next week. Same geek time, same geek feed.

Thanks for listening. Later, y'all. Hoppies. Hoppies day. Oh, God, that's horrible.

I told you. Bad puns. Come on. Aged upon the way. As he held his head straight Making plans upon the favorite and their boat Torn to rest As he stood upon his nest Taking chance upon a chest that had beaten dry.

I keep my soul, my head's not coming back. My soul, my head's not coming. No, I don't intend to. Be the falling light. I fight to keep them whole.

I watch them dance upon. The ceiling to compete their song. It's not enough, my friends, to relegate. Let's keep them on their toes. Let's keep the biggest from their bones.

The tears and the. Rabbits in their bones. Oh, no. The rabbits in their bones. The rabbit's here Oh, no.
