The following feature has been rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America. It is intended for mature audiences and parental discretion is advised. It's showtime, folks. Enjoy the show. Hi, this is Tom Adkins, or Detective Ray Cameron.
You're listening to Movie Meltdown. Thrill me, baby. Well, that's all right. He's fast asleep. Oh, good.
It's lovely and quiet here. Some people might think it's too quiet. Oh, not for me. In our house, the telly's always blaring or the people next door. Are having an argument.
It's dreadful. No, you won't hear a sound here. Well, apart from the occasional ghost or poltergeist. Jim. Sorry.
Just kidding. You've got a great sense of humour. That's all right. Those sort of things don't bother me. Is there anything I ought to know, Mrs.
Lloyd? What? No. About Tara? Oh.
You won't even hear him, I hope. He's so tired, he should sleep like a log. That's super. I've left the number of the plover in here by the telephone in case of emergencies, God forbid. Now, don't worry.
I'll cope. Yes, of course, but don't hesitate to ring if. Mrs. Lloyd, nothing's going to happen. Don't worry.
Now, you go out and enjoy yourself. Yes, come on, worry guts. It's just that I'm not used to leaving it. You've got to get used to it. Come on.
Your house is on fire. Your children are. Gone. All but the one who's alone. Ladybird, fly away home.
Welcome to Movie Meltdown Sofa Theater. Once again, I am Brian. Hi, I'm still Misty. I am Jerry. I'm Marlena.
Alright, and I'll be your psychopath for this episode. There's a whole lot of throwing my name around in this show. You're the psychopath in every episode. What are you talking about? Oh, that's true.
This week's Sofa Theater feature is Fright. The year is 1971. Director is Peter Collinson. And the plot, according to our favorite IMDb, the young babysitter Amanda arrives at the Lloyd residence to spend the evening looking after their young son. Soon after the Lloyds leave, a series of frightening occurrences in the gloomy house have Amanda's nerves on edge, and I'll stop there and throw in the spoiler alert, because from there, it goes on to tell you what else happened, so we won't even get into that yet.
Alright. Where would you like to begin? I fucking hated this movie. This movie was kind of annoying. It started out to be okay, you know, I kind of I kind of liked it.
I was waiting, but as it got further along, I was like, really? Okay, you're serious. This is the fright? This is what's scaring her? And just drawled on forever.
Yeah, I drawled on forever, and the characters were stupid and useless. And annoying, and I kind of wanted to see them all die. Yeah. Her constant whimpering at the end. I was like, oh, my God, I want to fucking strangle you.
Just kill her, please. Just kill her and get it over with. Her yelling at him. Like, dude, really yelling? That's really what you're going to do to this guy who's going to fucking kill you?
You're going to yell at him? Confrontational bitch. You deserve to fucking die. She didn't, though. She ended up being the fucking hero in this set.
Yeah. Which is weird. Yeah. That is, let's see, Susan George is our main babysitter girl. She's got an awful cry face.
Yeah. I don't think that's what she was hired for. She does. They make use of her attributes midway through the movie. Oh, yeah.
And her short skirt. You did like her outfit there, Marlene. Yeah. Saw some booty undercarriage. Yeah, what was that?
That was some kind of weird 70s. Sweater dress? Sweater go-go dress. Digging the go-go boots, the big patent leather go-go boots. Who shows up for a fucking babysitter job dressed like a go-go dancer?
Well, that was like in the 70s. I don't give a fuck. Women still dress like whores nowadays. I'm not like, oh, I'm going to show a pet. This babysitting job dressed like a $ 2 hooker.
I mean, like, books are. Always dressed like sluts. Why not babysit? That's what I'm saying, though. Actually, look at most of the young girls out there.
If you ask them to come over to your house, they would probably still come dressed like they do at the mall. They'd probably show up in, like, ridiculously short shorts. Okay. Booty shorts and baby doll tees. I just.
You're just old, man. You don't know how them kids dress. I'm just an old lady, I guess. Oh, man. So, yeah, she actually was in, I think she went on to do Straw Dogs after that.
So another, sort of in the same situation there. What else have we got? Actually, I think the mother of it is, let's see. Her name is Honor. Yeah, Honor Blackman, who, if I'm not mistaken, was Pussy Galore.
Oh, I thought she looked kind of familiar. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Other than that, there's not a whole. Lot.
Awesome. What? Yeah. You're so creepy. I'm looking for bond chicks.
What do you mean? Are these fruit chicks? No, like early bond chicks. Nobody after Moore. Terry Hatcher?
No. Was she in a Roger Moore movie? I don't know. I've never seen a Bond movie. Fuck.
I don't know. No, she wasn't. She probably wasn't born yet. I don't know. She was pretty fucking old.
Wow. Oh, I don't know. And desperate. Whatever. Regardless.
Who cares? So yeah, that's pretty much the recognizable people. The rest of these are, I'm sure, well-known in Britain, but not really recognizable throughout the rest of this. I fucking hate British people. I think that's part of your problem, too, is we all kind of had a lot of bad British moments here.
I hate British people. I hate their British teeth and their British accent. I fucking hate kids with British accents. I don't know what it is. I have a fucking three-year-old with British accents.
Oh, my fucking God. Which is weird, because most of my family is British. They don't have British accents. Most of your family is British? Yeah.
I didn't know that. Yeah. Dads have. Yeah. British and Irish.
They've been away long enough to not have the accent. Yeah, well, no. That's why I don't like your dad that much. Does your dad have a British accent? No, no, no.
They're not, like, straight-off-the-boat British. They're, like, you know... Great-great-great-grandfather British. Yeah, you can look at them. Hell, they look like...
You look at most of my dad's side of the family and they look like the cast from Are You Being Served. Ouch! Yeah, there's a couple Captain Peacocks running around in my family. Wow, last week it was Joni calling out her own family and this week you're taking over. Yeah, so.
Oh, man. Fucking British kid. Unless it's S Club 7. Fuck Britain. Yeah.
And even they had a couple of scary ones. Oh, man. I love S Club 7. Ain't no party like an S Club party. It's okay.
I love Britain. It's alright. You guys are cool. What? You're a kiss-ass.
British. For all our British listeners. Do you have a British bike? I've got a British motorcycle, yeah. How can you be talking bad about that?
It's easy. I don't feel good. I can talk shit about anything when I feel like I'm going to hurl. What do you want? Okay, all right, whatever.
I blame the sandwich more than the movie. Yeah. Dude, that sandwich made me ill. Fucking sandwich. Yeah, when Misty gets sick or upset.
You better just watch out. Everybody's fair game. That's true. There will be no survivors. No, there can be only one.
Exactly. And it's Misty. Okay, so let's start talking about this movie. Oh, Lord. It was too fucking long.
Too long, too British. And not enough. A lot of jump scares that really weren't scary. A lot of things that she was looking at that shouldn't have been scary at all, like water dripping. She was like.
And then they focus in on the tap water dripping. And she got attacked by that ferocious shirt. Oh, yeah. Yeah, on the clothesline. It's a shirt.
Yeah, I really liked the first half hour or so. I think a lot of that stuff was well put together. I think, again. Yeah, I was trying to set you up for some scary stuff going on, but still. She's just completely fucking useless.
She's like a timid bunny rabbit that's scared of. everything you know it's just like the fire's crackling and she freaks. Out you know just what the hell how. Are you even alive and yet the tv blares with sudden screaming and she's just like. Oh yeah and she's absolutely not huh what oh the tv's. On But yet water frightens her.
Well, she's very uneven, really. Because, yeah, we get the moments in the beginning where she's freaked out by our guy. But then by the end, she's yelling at him. So she's kind of inconsistent throughout the movie. They just didn't write her character very well, I guess.
I don't know. It's weird because I think there's so much other stuff going on that's well-structured. I think the first half of it is set up really well as far as pacing. I think it does have a lot of tension that's built in. A lot of that is due more to the direction.
But I think even... As far as just writing, I think the setup on the first half of it is really well done because it gives you this scenario that you go in, you're kind of like the babysitter, you have no idea what's going on. So you don't know what's up with the couple. They seem kind of weird right off the bat, but you don't know what it is. And as they start talking, as it cuts back and forth to them, you learn a little bit more about that.
And then they get to the anniversary part, and then you realize, oh, it's a divorce. So now you're like, okay, so the couple's getting divorced? Yeah. But then it cuts away, and it still doesn't really reveal everything. And you go back to the girl, and you see more about her, and you get the traditional boyfriend showing up scenario.
And then it cuts back to them, and you learn more about the husband. So it does this really good job of just sort of unfolding the plot for, like, the first half of the movie. And then it sort of, by the time you get, okay, now we know what's going on, that's when it starts to drag. Once the husband enters into the picture, it kind of slows it down. I'm confused.
So... They were celebrating her divorce from the first crazy guy? Yes. Okay, because I thought she was already remarried to that guy. They were presenting it to, like, that's the thing.
She kept referring to him as her husband, and everybody in town acted like they were married, but everybody also knew the truth because it's a small little village, so everybody was kind of like, that's not her real husband, you know, so... They'd been together for years, it seemed like, but everybody sort of knew the truth because... That's. Probably why that guy wanted to kill her. Probably.
This movie can be summed up really easily. It's like a chick that you really want to have sex with really bad, and she's really hot, and you've got that really good build-up, build-up, build-up, build-up, and then it's not so great. in women you can insert guys in there too. Yeah i'm sure it works for the guy either way it's just like it's. Like insert guys in there too there's that build up that tension that this is going to be good this is going to be great and it's good and then and you do get a payoff but. It's kind of like a you know i could have just did this myself kind of payoff so yeah.
Oh that's how it goes exactly Well, I think that's I mean, that's kind of the best thing to take from that. I think I ended up liking it a lot more than I expected, but I think it's all due to the direction. I think it's it's this Peter Collinson who actually did a lot of other bigger. This was relatively early on in it, but he ended up doing the the original Italian job he did. And then there were none.
He did the spiral staircase. So he ended up doing a lot of bigger projects. And I think, OK, what happened here? Well, to me, from a direction standpoint, I think it's awesome. I think the way he sets up the shots in the beginning, the house looks really creepy.
The shots and everything are cool. The house is creepy. Things look great. It's just the characters are funny. Fucking idiot which that's more the writing yeah i mean that's yeah i mean.
Is the blood is the british police force really like that is it do they not i mean i know they they're not supposed to carry guns but i mean this is like this is like mayberry i mean we better get the gun. They have one gun they've got one gun for the town. And one guy that can use the gun but apparently he's such a shitty ass fucking shot that he can't hit this guy i've I can't get a clear shot. This guy's head's in the middle of a fucking window. How can you not shoot this guy?
And that's the other thing. He's hiding like 40 yards away behind a car. And I'm like, okay, the guy inside the house doesn't have a gun. He's not going to shoot you. You could walk up to the window and when he sticks his head up there, blow a hole in his head.
But they're not smart enough to do that. Point blank, dude. Yeah. See, this movie made me realize I would have zero problem emptying a loaded gun into the face of someone who fucking deserved it. That's right.
Let me just trick him. Just be like, hey, your pizza's here. And he goes, what? And then you're just like, I like it. I like pizza.
All right. Because he's a fucking moron. He's crazy. He has no fucking clue. Maybe in his fucking whacked out reality world, there's a pizza delivery guy.
Hey, I am supposed to get a pizza. You know, you can trick these people. They're easy to trick. Do they like pizza? I mean, it's like your fish and chips is here, governor.
Yeah, exactly. Come to the door. So, yeah. Who ordered the shepherd's pie? Yeah.
By the end of this, yeah, it definitely goes off the rails. And I think really just sort of the last... Basically, they could have had... I still think it could have been a pretty decent, balanced movie had they wrapped it up before the whole standoff. Yeah.
I think if it would have been like, you know, he would have... been fighting with the boyfriend she ran out the door the one cop with the gun shot him in the doorway and that was the end of the movie would have been great it would have been good i mean you would have missed out on the i think the the bit with the mirror is fucking creepy and that is sort of the that's sort of the the key to this that's all the advertising that's what brings you in and that part is really creepy so they really just should have worked that in earlier in the movie and then had him just like threatening her and the and the kid with it Midway into the movie and then ended it there because the police standoff part is really where it drags.
It drags on. It's aggravating. Yes. It's annoying. You've got them bantering back and forth between them and the psychiatrist who's like, ah, we don't want to, you know, I want to try to save him.
And then he's like, I'm not going to be held responsible. And I'm just like, and the police. Some people don't need to be saved. No. Some people need to be killed.
Yeah. Fuck him, sorry. Fuck him. No, that's okay. It's completely understandable.
There was another point in this movie that's like, the guy, the boyfriend, I don't feel bad about him getting bashed in the face at all. No. Because he's kind of a jackass. He's completely a jackass. Yeah, you want to date rape.
That's about all I can say right there. Shut up. Shut up. She's telling him no, no. He's unbuttoning her shirt.
She's going no, and he's like, shut up. She's like, I don't want to do it. And he's like, shut up. That's what the chicks like. They like a firm hand.
You know you wanted it. That's how you got me. I'm joking. I told you to shut up. He tells you to shut up all the time.
You never listen. You were telling me to shut up. Yeah, that's how it works. I was going, stop it. Not on the first day.
You shut up. I said, shut up. You're going to fucking do it. This is truth, guys. It is.
Yeah, pretty much. She's like, drop them pants. Drop them drawers. Well, that's a good idea. Now we won't be disturbed.
Get out. I haven't done anything. Yet. You're not going to either. Look, you can't stay a virgin all your life, you know.
How do you know? I might not be one. Ah, well, if you're not, you've got nothing to lose, have you? If you are, well, this is your big chance. With you?
That's what I like about you. You're always so hospitable. This movie just goes to show that only homicidal psychopaths wear fucking turtlenecks. And those cool corduroys he had on. Oh, my God.
Boyfriend's purple corduroys. They were cool. He looks straight out of a Swedish skiing movie. He kind of did. His little sweater.
Even his bad hair. His bad hair. His name was Sven. This is not an advertisement for British people at all. No, not really.
I hate to tell you, but... No, not at all. But I don't know. The guy who played the crazy guy was... He was the right amount of crazy.
I think he did it... Yeah, he did it in a way that's... To quote Roger, who's not here, he wasn't whoop-whoop crazy. The way that I think he was pretty good was he plays it almost realistic. Like, it is one of those that he just...
He gets... and he gets flustered, and he just repeats things, and he does seem like a real-world crazy. It's not, you know, over-the-top movie crazy. It's not like. Sticking Jim Carrey in this role. Yeah, it's like this guy probably would exist and probably would hurt you if you ran into him in the real world because he is fucking delusional, and that's...
I don't know. That's the one thing I liked about this movie, aside from the fact that, like, I just... don't want to believe that we live in a world where people are too fucking stupid to just shoot someone in the face if they can and there's a gun holding the gun this guy obviously deserves to be shot in the face clear shot do it i don't want to believe that we live in that world but it was a very realistic movie because this could all happen it's probably happened a million times i've. Got two handguns i would totally shoot somebody in the face She would. That's the thing. This movie has, with the exception of the one cop gun, zero guns.
So there's your problem. Move to America and buy a lot of guns. They run up to the door. There's three cops. They're like, well, we can't handle this situation by ourselves.
We can't do this on our own. There's three of you. Free of you. And he doesn't even have a gun fucking. Guy and oh well we can't handle it let's wait for backup and i'm like what are they gonna is the real cop gonna show up now the one with the gun the one with the gun yeah and then the cool leather gloves oh yeah because he's got the mullet.
Also reason why i don't dig british men either your teeth the teeth. Yeah there were some scary teeth there i'll. Give you that yeah man has to have straight teeth but yeah the whole like. Oh the fake husband's teeth were frightening well. That was another thing too is they're trying to convince the wife that she's just she's stressing over nothing that there's no possible way he would escape there's no possible way he would.
Come back this just goes to show that women are just usually right yeah men are dumbasses that won't listen. She was like, I got a telephone call. And the guy was like, well, it could have been anybody. And she's like, but it sounded like a young girl's voice. Well, it could have been a secretary asking for me.
But she asked for my specific name. Shut up. Shut up. Shut up. Let me go call the mental institution and we'll put this to rest and you can relax.
Whoops, he really did escape. Whoops, he did escape. And after they find out he escaped, they're like, oh, well, he's probably hundreds of miles from here. He never would have Or. At his own house.
Why would he possibly go back to the house where his wife and child live? And the woman who put him away lives. Yeah, the woman that put him away lives. Why would he possibly do that? That's absurd.
Yeah, because he only tried to kill her the first time. Why wouldn't you move? I know. That's what I'm saying. Fucking move out.
I mean, wouldn't it be traumatic to live in that house anyway? It's about as dumb as the family of Michael Myers going back to live at the Michael Myers house. Gee, a lot of people got murdered here, but we're going to live here. We're going to make it our home. Yeah.
Fuck a bunch of that. Oh, my God. What's he doing? He's come back. After my dog died when I was little in the backyard, in this little pen that we had beside his house, I couldn't even go there.
I can't imagine living in a fucking house where someone tried to kill you or a shitload of people were murdered fuck a bunch of that how retarded are. People very well speaking of the michael myers uh let's talk about the the sort of influence that i guess this had because if somebody out there has a different version feel free to point it out but as far as i know this is the first babysitter crazy guy breaking into a house i mean this this is sort of the one it sort of builds that so unless somebody knows of another one this is uh 1971 so this is seven years before halloween And Halloween is kind of known as the template for all other slasher horror movies. So this is way ahead. Of its time. Well, I think the problem was it was British, so it didn't really show up in the American screen.
Pretty much. But I mean, I will give it credit for having this idea because it's not like it's just minorly hinted at it is the exact like blueprint of every, you know, he's, he knows you're alone. I mean, every one of those babysitter in a house gets the cord, gets yanked out, she wanders around in the dark house. The kid comes out and scares her. I mean, there's every little cliche, the boyfriend gets killed.
Every one of these little cliche things that have now become like standard in a horror movie. Are in this movie, and as far as I know, this was the beginning of it all, really. So it at least has to be given credit for sort of starting an entire trend of movies. He even has the big... Piece of shattered mirror that looks like a large butcher knife.
Mm-hmm. So this is the pre-slash of it. Every time I shatter a mirror, I never can get that butcher knife shape to come out. It's always little pieces. Hollywood.
You've broken enough mirrors. I know. God. You need the magic of British cinema. I know.
It's something. This should be a lesson to all young girls. Don't ever babysit. It kind of is. If you do, just carry a gun.
Yeah. But yeah, I don't know. It is impressive, I guess, that this is sort of where it all began from. Because I will still give credit to Black Christmas, almost, for being more of an inspiration for a lot of the specifics in Halloween. But I don't know.
To me, this is, yeah, for as many years ahead of time as this is, it is funny how blueprint it is set up for every baby slasher movie that came after that. It's a bit harder to make this film nowadays because now kids have cell phones so yep what's he gonna do i mean he's gonna have to somehow find a way to scramble the network or some shit like that there's always a way around that let's blanket over the house i can't get a signal she's running around trying to get a signal it's out in. The country you know you don't signal in the country. Oh yeah i guess i guess mandy found a way around that yeah mandy's awesome So it's still, I mean, there's always ways around the cell phone. There's always no signal no matter what.
And they always die at convenient times. Yeah, of course. You can make horror film in here. Stop trying to frighten me. I'm not.
Yes, you are, peering through that window. What window? What are you talking about? That one. You scared the life out of me and you.
Did it deliberately. I didn't. I came straight out to the door. Must have been someone else. Stop it!
Well, if it wasn't anybody else, it must be your imagination. I don't imagine things. Typical. This is typical of you, trying to frighten people all the time. You ought to see a psychiatrist.
But you're the one who's seeing things. You live in a world of fantasy. I was reading about people like you. They say it's a result of sexual frustration. Here.
Well, that's not my fault either. Well, you needn't think I'm going to cure you. I don't know. I think, again, I think that the director is kind of the star of this. I mean, I think that the actors are all right, the ones that aren't really, really annoying.
The characters are not good, but the acting's tolerable. The characters are badly written. Yeah, I don't think I can think of a single character that's not annoying with the exception of the killer, or the crazy guy. He's the only one that doesn't annoy the crap out of him. Yeah, and he's just fucking crazy.
Because he's playing his role. Yeah. He's the killer. Everybody else is kind of ridiculous. He's fucking crazy.
I liked the scene where he was with the other girl, but he kept imagining, he kept flashing that it was his wife. I thought that part was actually kind of well shot. That's one thing I was actually impressed about. Which scene, the bed scene? Yeah, that whole scene when he was dancing with her.
You'd see the girl crying, but then it flashed. He'd be imagining it's his wife, and she's laughing and having a good time. But that whole scene was. But yeah, like you said, that was a great, that was a well shot scene that just kind of delves into the craziness of this fucking guy that's. Like, he's still obsessed with his wife.
Completely. To the point where he sees the babysitter as her. But yeah, that was well shot. And that's what I think you take from that's the reason to watch this for me is just direction and the way that it looks because I think that even the opening like that creepy song, which we were all creeped out by that song. maybe for different reasons. To me, it's just, it's, uh, it's the same as the closing one.
It's that weird caterwalling woman. That was just really just out of place. Well, to me, it reminds me of, uh, the later Marianne faithful stuff where she has that weird, scary voice that it, but to me it fits. It's like, it's, it's out of place, but at the same time, it's, it's creepy, like not good creepy. It's just, it, it's creepy in a weird way that, much like Marianne Faith.
I guess just towards the end, I was so annoyed that it came up and I was like, what the. Fuck is this shit? I thought that at the beginning, I was just like, what is this song? But as it goes on, I mean, it's this weird shots of her like walking to the house. So it's all these shots of her out in the woods.
And again, that, that in itself right off the bat is really creepy. And then you get to the house and I think the visuals on the house are amazing. I think it's shot with this very claustrophobic feel. It focuses heavy on all the set dressing. So it's like you, He really...
This is one of the few times I've noticed a director really making use of the set dressing. He would shoot through the furniture. He would shoot. With stuff sitting on the table in the foreground of the shot. Through the window, through.
Weeds, through the trees. Stuff like that. It's all very purposely set up to be where it is and to fit the character in where it is. So again, I think what he does direction-wise is really impressive on this. Enough that it makes me want to go through and watch some of his other stuff.
Because I think. Visually, I think he did a great job on this. It's just the other. It's just the characters are stupid. They're idiots and they wouldn't survive in the real world.
The chick could have ran out the fucking back kitchen door a hundred times and could have gotten away, but no. She's too stupid. She's going to cower in the corner. He took all the doorknobs off. Oh, did he take all the doorknobs off?
I thought he took all the doorknobs off because he kept saying no knobs or something because she was locked in like he was locked in the crazy house. Wasn't he? See, I don't know if he did. I know he was rambling about that. I didn't know if that was just from him being in the crazy house because he doesn't have any doorknobs.
Maybe she couldn't get out. I don't know. The doors that she was stumbling around trying to open wasn't the kitchen door. The door to the kitchen was in the living room. Where the boyfriend was laying all bloody in the corner.
I don't know. So, either way. I mean, there's just very specific shots. There's the one he keeps going to of the pendulum clock. Yeah.
It really, really looks good. And then there's the one of her going down the hallway in the close-up of his face on that corner shot. that's fucking awesome so i mean there's just so many of those that i think make up for you know some of these shortcomings at least enough to watch the movie it doesn't save it i guess overall but I. Was pissed off when she ran out the door and she just stopped long enough for him to grab her and pull her back in. I'm like, bitch, keep running. Just stop.
Well, if we want to talk about the problems at the door, okay, so within the mother, they finally get this trade-off going. And they're like, okay, you bring my wife in, I'll let these two go. I'll let the kid go and the babysitter. So. She comes up to the door, and I'm like, have you never been involved in a hostage negotiation?
Maybe not. Have you never seen one on TV? Jesus. You don't go in until you get what you want out. It's like, it's at the same time.
It's a trade-off. It's not, I just blindly walk in. The other dumb bitch realized. She's like, well, now we're all fucked. Yeah.
I mean, even the babysitter was smarter than that. She was like, no, dumbass. So, yeah, mom walks right in. He closes the door and locks it. And what do they give her as a weapon?
They give her a fucking tear gas canister. Now, how fucking retarded is that? Tear gas. Okay, I'll pull the pin and drop it while the guy slashes my throat. And the kid's down on the floor.
She even managed to fuck that one up. Yeah, she fucked that one up too because she's an idiot. Oh, jeez. Can I talk about the very end of the film? Are you asking my personal permission?
I'm asking everybody's permission. Is it cool? If you're ready to... Oh, I'm ready to address the end of the film. I mean, we're right there at that point anyway.
Because at the end of the film, I mean, you're at the end of the film where they're arguing and they finally do. The guy gets upset and, you know, you're trying to use this canister. He doesn't even know what it is. He's like, you're trying to use this to hurt me. And he's going nuts.
And then he's like, they can take it back. And he throws it. And, of course, it goes off. And they're all like, ah. And, of course, the babysitter is the one who has to go and open the door to get out.
So she gets out, and the crazy guy and the wife come out, and the crazy guy comes out with the kid, and the cop's like, I can't take a shot. I might hit the kid. And I'm like going, what the fuck? How can you? You're like, what, 10 feet from the guy, and you might hit the kid?
You can't shoot this guy in the shoulder? You can't shoot him in the head? You know, I mean, how shitty of a marksman. Are these guys? They can't even fucking shoot somebody at that, you know, closer range.
His mullet was holding him back. I guess. You know what? I wouldn't have questioned it. He's like looking at the captain going, can I shoot him?
You know, white question. Just shoot the guy. I would have fucking shot him in the eyeball. He'd be dead already if anybody with any competency was holding that gun. I guess, you know, and.
Apparently all the cops over there get is just like one revolver. That's it. They don't have a rifle. They don't have nothing. That's what I was thinking.
I was like, for these standoffs, shouldn't they have like a sniper rifle or something? No, they've got nothing. They don't even have a hunting rifle. They don't have a shotgun. He's got one revolver.
You know and gloves and gloves he's got his shooting gloves but then the thing that gets me is like well no we might hit the kid so it's too close so what does the guy do with the gun he puts it back in the car yeah what the fuck was that. He was like well I guess I can't use the gun so I'll just put it back in the. Car what kind of cop are you what the fuck you know keep. The guy in your sights But, yeah, towards the very end, you're thinking there's not going to be a payoff because they're not going to shoot this guy. We're all sitting there on the couch yelling, shoot him, fucking shoot him.
The lady even gets the kid from him, and they're backing away, and he's standing there with that big piece of broken mirror, and he's like going, he's calling her name, and he's, uh, uh. And you're like, shoot him, shoot him, shoot him. And, of course, the cops don't shoot him. Who shoots him? Fucking crazy-ass babysitter.
The babysitter shoots him. And then she cries like a little whiny bitch. I'm so sorry. That's the point where I decided that I have no problem shooting someone if they deserve it. I would fucking apologize.
I'd be like, I would have kicked him and been like, in your face, motherfucker. I'd have shot him five more times. You got owned, bitch. But they don't do that. And the cops are kind of looking at each other going, damn, she shot him.
Finally, one of us got it together. But they didn't, like, it came out of nowhere. Like, they didn't show her leaving the house. They didn't show her, like, going over by the car. So at the beginning, like, the first time I watched it, I was like.
They showed her leaving the house. She was out of the house. She ran out. She was the first one. She just ran out.
She fucking hauled ass out of the house because she was. they don't give you any idea that she's going for something. She's got some sort of plan. She just, it's like out of the blue, it just happens, which I guess is what they were going for. They're going for that shock ending. But at the.
Same time for a second, I'm just like, wait, the fuck did she get that gun like they didn't show her going to the cop. Car or she didn't have to i put it back in the car she grabbed it off the front seat and capped the guy i. Was like there's only one guns i guess we know where it came from but i was like when did she get to that it's very sort of un yeah it does it's just sort of jarring because you don't know well yeah where she even came from yeah. Expecting the cop to shoot him and even at that point you're you're kind of you're kind of expecting nothing. Yeah.
You know, because at that point I was like, well, fuck, they're not going to shoot him. Because she backed away from him. And he drops to his knees. It's like he's given up. And it's a good five minutes, you know, and you're like, well, fuck, this guy's going to get taken back to the mental institution and nothing's going to happen.
He's going to break out. Fright two. And then there's going to be a fright two, you know, where he goes after the babysitter and after the wife. And then he finds out she's his sister. Oh, wait, no, it's a whole different movie.
So. But yeah, boom, right in the head. And I think that's what it was. I think they were just going for that surprise ending, because I've talked about this the last few of this era. I think every movie at this late 60s into the early 70s time period, it's like, it's a horror movie.
We've got to have some sort of shock ending. It wasn't the twist ending that we had to have come 90s. It was like the 70s just had to be something special. Weird. Something abrupt that you're not expecting, and then credits.
It's like they love doing that, and that's like two of the British ones in a row we've seen her like that. So definitely it was like a trend in horror movies, and certainly in British horror movies, that, all right, what fucked up way are we going to end this movie? And then just, bam, she just shows up and shoots. Him out of the blue. And there's the credits.
Credits, yeah. So more of the crazy caterwauling. And the credits actually ran faster than the pace of most of the movie. Yeah, kind of. Oh man.
But it, I don't know. It does what it sets out to do. I think in most of it, it's like it sets up the creepy scenario that, uh, again, his camera work that shot on the landing is amazing. Like when they're getting ready to leave for the whole little night out and she's telling him goodbye, he's like shooting it all from the stairs. Like he's looking down on him.
Like he's, you know, the kid looking down, like, like watching them as they leave. It's really well done. And same thing with that. Like when the boyfriend gets it out in the yard, uh, When, like, the camera just sort of steps out from hiding. Yeah.
And I guess you're POV at that point, but it's just sort of unnerving. Again, it's like he's looking at it. He's like, holy shit. Like, the character is looking at you as the camera. It's like, oh, fuck.
And it just moves in. It's too stupid to realize what's going on. Well, at that point, you're like... you're kind of wondering why is this guy not doing anything he's a fucking moron but then. You realize it's the the uh the ex-husband yeah he's a psycho but when you kind of. Look at him he kind of looks like just a normal average guy.
Which is how he gets into the house too which is which is probably why he got to the boyfriend because the boyfriend's kind of like just what are you doing here buddy yeah because. He doesn't look threatening he looks kind of like uh what's his name on the rockford files James Garner. He kind of has this James Garner look about him. He looks like a douchebag wearing a turtleneck. Well, but the escape, for an escape mental patient, he's dressed nicely too.
Yeah, he doesn't look like a complete psycho. So that's how he worms his way into the house. He doesn't explode when sunlight hits him. I assume the worst from everybody. Yeah.
No, I wouldn't either. But I guess that's why. But I just, that shot again, that's another one of those that the camera work is amazing because I'm just sitting there going, okay this is a fucking creepy shot and you don't even know what it is when you get into it and then by the end you're like holy shit i guess this is the killer and we're looking through his eyes and because. You're the cat and i'm going god what kind of fucking cat is this five foot cat no you hear it you're like that. And then it's moving on the cat i don't know he's a vicious killer he'll step on cats step on the kitty But, yeah, it also does what it's supposed to do in the suggestiveness of it.
We don't get any nudity, but there's a hell of a lot of suggestion with her top there. Yeah, there is. She spends about half the movie with her top open. Checking on the kids? Yeah, she doesn't care.
Yeah. So, I mean, it definitely plays all the cards it needed to and could get away with in 1971. It's... violent when it can be i guess i mean that towards the end again you go through most of it with no violence but when you get to that last scene and like they're fighting on top of this bloody guy and then she's getting she's slashing his face and that part there probably for the time was sort of you know gratuitous violence and i'm sure somebody was up in arms about that but probably Again, for the time. I think, again, that shot's pretty fucking awesome. So everything visually is amazing, but, yeah, story leaves a lot to be desired.
Just a load of gossip. I don't believe a word. No, it's true. Mrs. Lloyd's real husband's in a nut house.
He's a nutter. Stop it. That's right. He tried to murder her. That's why they put him away.
William, stop it! Hey. Are you all right? I'm sorry. I didn't mean to frighten you.
Oh, Chris. Oh, Chris, say you were lying. You were making it all up, weren't you, to front me? Chris, weren't you? Yeah, all right.
And it was you at that window, wasn't it? Wasn't it? It's okay. It's all right. But if nothing else, get down, white people.
You get some awesome dancing. You get some fucking. organ playing, early 70s kind of jive dancing, fucking what the fuck is going on here type music. I believe, yeah, you stated the obvious. The only thing worse than white people dancing is British white people. The only thing worse than old people dancing was old British people dancing.
They're British, they're white, they're old. It is scary. It is on. Lotta, lotta. Yeah, there's some snapping and arms are flailing and legs are flopping.
Thumbs and kicking. Yeah, it's one step from thumbs and kicking. I was like, wow, where's this nightclub? Because I would rule. That's right.
You would show those old ladies up. Hell yeah. And they'd be like, drop them, Joe. Yeah. I'd be like, the panty dropper's in town.
You'd be like, all right. She told me to shut up. I guess I won't do it. Oh, I'm sorry. Oh, Lord.
So, yeah, I think that sort of sums it all up, I'd say. It's visually impressive, I'd say. But, yeah, story issues, character development issues, annoyance issues, pacing issues. Yeah. It's things they all try to clear up as time goes on.
Not with this movie, but with other movies. Yeah, groundbreaking for what it is. I think it is impressive. And if you're a horror fan or a slasher fan, it's almost worth going back to look at it just because you can't really watch the things that came from it without watching some of the older stuff. This is definitely the kickoff for that type of movie.
Again, I think visuals are freaking impressive. That's about it for it. Alright, I guess that will wrap up the old theater here. We will take a break and be back with the rest of the show. Yeah, you know what it's like now, huh?
Always locked doors. No handles. No handles. Don't know what it's like. Frightened, huh?
I told you, lock doors. I could always lock doors. Why do you send me to lock doors? Lock doors! You sent me there!
Let me go! Shoot him now! Shoot him now! I don't think crazy for the darkness We all we need tonight That's. How a rocket rolls Let's fly it.
Popcorn freshly popped and buttered. Look good? Sure, it looks good and it tastes even better. Get some now. Jill Johnson is babysitting the children of a young doctor and his wife.

Who is this? What do you want? Your blood. When a stranger calls... Leave me alone!
Jill, this is Sergeant Sacker. We've traced the call. It's coming from inside the house. You should get out of that house. When a stranger calls...

I love the smell of napalm in the morning. What's part of your problem? You know, you haven't seen enough movies. All of life's riddles are answered in the movies. And now, on with the show.
Thank you. You want to know the pattern that has gripped your life Your heart starts pounding. While you're breathing real bright A face chopped white that. Stuns the sight. Alright, we are back and we've got feedback.
Yay, feedback. Somebody called? Um... Well, there were these two weirdos in the early last week that called. I don't want to hear that one.
I won't make you live through it, but actually it's pretty damn funny. Either way, we try to encourage everyone to call in after the fact. So, hey, this is what other people who weren't at that episode think. Of the movie. Wow, that was pretty geeky right there.
Hey, this is Misty. This is Jay. And we called to talk about. Dreamscape, because goddammit, I stayed up until 3 o'clock in the morning watching this movie, so we're going to talk about it. I don't have much to say about it, though.
It didn't fuck. No, it's pretty good. Dennis Quaid was a little creepy looking in it. It's smirky creepiness. Yeah, I didn't like that so much.
And the other guys out that I was not digging, the whole white collar with the blue shirt and the tie and the jacket, I wanted to punch him in the face. That's good. Long guy. The T-Bird guy? No, not the T-Bird guy.
The other bad guy. Oh, the bad guy? Not a bad guy. Oh, the other bad guy. Yeah.
Not T-Bird. Yeah, yeah. The other psychic in there was T-Bird. Misty picked that out from the crow. And the.
I'm sure they've already talked about it. Yeah, yeah. I'm sure you already talked about it. The annoying little kid. The one with the nightmares is Tina Yeathers.
I guess that's her little brother? I would assume so. Yeah. So. And it had Hank from Twin Peaks.
Everybody loves Hank. Yeah, everybody loves Hank. He's a jackass, and he's an abusive bastard. But other than that, everybody, I guess, doesn't hate him. Yeah, I don't know.
It's a good movie. I thought it was a good movie. It was good for... I'm sure there have been a lot of other movies to copy off of it and clone it, you know, but it's a pretty original movie. You know, it's far from the same.
I don't know. And then came Inception, which is a complete ripoff. Yeah, yeah. Alright, I don't think I have anything else. Yeah.
We talked about it. Good movie. We played the, hey, what's that person from game, the whole movie. Yeah, pretty much. And I knew he was totally going to do it with that chick in her dream.
You totally did. I totally knew it. Alright, I think that's all we have. We called. We called.
So, neener neener, and we'll talk to you later. Alright, bye. Bye. Alright. Other than that, we also heard from, uh, Naked Eskimo and Barb.
And, um, let me just go ahead and say, guys, uh, I pretty much called it. I decided to warn them ahead of time that having been said, we will get on with the message here. Well, hi, Movie Meltdown. It's Naked Eskimo. Uh, consider this my official bid to get the room on the roster for Movie Meltdown.
Uh, Yeah, I absolutely have to hear Misty go off on this movie. I must. After the glory that was Fright Fest, I need more. I need it badly. Barb has something she wishes to add as well.
Oh, hi, Movie Meltdown. Oh, hi, Misty. You should really watch The Room. If you like Southland cells, you will love The Room. And you liked Sorority Row, and that was awesome.
Not the crappy remake. Okay, bye. Yeah, after watching this trailer for the movie, I'm not sure I can be your friend anymore. You're tearing me apart, Lisa. God, there were some unfortunately ugly people in that movie.
What movie? The Room. No, I mean, they're a special kind of hideous. Like the dude, oh my fucking God, he fell off the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. He got beat with the ugly stick.
And, yeah, horrible things. I don't remember the trailer. I didn't make you watch it. No, I turned around and looked at it for a couple minutes and then went back to whatever I was doing. Yeah, it looked absolutely horrible.
I think that if you all decide to do it, I should not be here that weekend. Yeah, hopefully the ugly stick comment will suffice because, yeah, I kind of knew. I could just, what I know of the room, I could tell it was not going to be up Misty's Alley, and I also know her well enough to know you're not going to sucker her into doing it. And I don't like movies with ugly people. Fuck.
Please find more pretty people movies. Exactly. And then she will make one of them too. With no British people because British people aren't hot. Fuck.
Unless they're in S Club 7. Some British people are. Very few. What about Jason Statham? Is he British, though?
Yeah. Is he actually from Canada? I think he is. She's just going to pretend like he's not. Pretend he's from New Jersey.
Yeah, usually everybody's from New Jersey. Jersey's not much better. This is the same game she plays with Canadians. If she really likes them, she pretends like they're not from Canada. I know.
It's easy to pretend a Canadian's not from Canada. Oh, good lord. What? You've met her before. You know how this operates.
There are certain things in Canada that I absolutely love and adore. I mean, Corey Haim, Mark Singer, fucking Big Wolf on campus. Shatner. Yeah, Shatner. But still...
What's wrong with Canada? I like Canada. They don't have proper weapons and stuff. They don't have a good army. If we've learned anything from today's episode, yes, it's that they don't have enough guns.
I'm sure all Canadians feel the same way. Probably. No, I don't think they do. They don't have racism in Canada. Who cares?
I had a roommate who went to Canada and married a girl after he knew her for like three days. And she came back and she's awesome. They've been married for two years now and they're like ridiculously happy. But she was like, I've never, we were talking about racism in Kentucky and stuff like that. She's like, I've never met anyone who's racist before.
They've got racism in Canada. They're like, where are you from, Canada? We don't have. Racism in an all white neighborhood. We've got Mounties in Canada.
That's what I don't like. I don't like Mounties. When I think Mounties, I think. Brendan Fraser. Sadly, I was like, you're going with that bad Dudley Do-Right movie, aren't you?
That's what I think of the old Dudley Do-Right cartoon. The cartoon was one thing. The movie, I like the cartoon. I think of Brendan Fraser, and he's on the list of the five people that I fucking hate. Yeah, can't we kick him out of the country and send him to Britain?
Why is he American? I don't want to claim that motherfucker. I want to trade him in for some people. I want to make him Canadian and claim Mark Singer as American. Oh, wow.
You are ambassador to the world. I see you're Mark Singer. I'll raise you, Brendan Fraser. Oh, Lord. Ah.
So yeah, Misty is difficult to deal with. So I don't know what to tell you guys. Hey, I'm not saying you all can't watch it. Have fun. Knock yourself out.
But nobody cares about us. It's all about you. Which even to finish what he was getting to there when he started that message, he sent after last week's, well, the week before last, the last time you were on here with the attacking people at the film festival, Who did. You attack at the film fest? Everybody that walked by.
Not physically anybody. No, but. But you threatened a few. But, no. It was mostly that guy across the aisle from us.
We all kind of made fun of him. He was asking for it. I fucking hated that guy. He sold me... What he said was the complete series of Big Wolf, but it was not the complete series of Big Wolf on campus.
It was 36 episodes out of the 63 episodes I was pissed off. That's near half of a complete series, not a complete series. So I agree. Fuck that guy. He didn't get stupid hair.
So. What about the guy that you thought was pretty and you stalked? Oh, he was pretty. But I'm pretty sure he was gay. Anyway.
So, is that making me less pretty? I'm not saying there's anything wrong. I'm just saying. He probably likes the ice cream truck song. He probably does, but he probably would prefer Jay as well.
I think he was eyeballing you that one. Anyway. You do have a fantastic ass. Don't tell that guy. He'll be all over it.
He'll be humping it like it's Marlena. So. often jesus christ people so you started. I mean only if i'm like dancing and i'm like black snake moan and then people think it's okay and then. That's the international signal for humping. I don't know why i say that i do you've seen it i think i'm pretty sure you've all seen it at some point when i'm like i.
Think i was ignoring yeah i try to look the other way during dancing. Drinking and getting rowdy and dancing i'm like. Alright, back to me. Anyway, he said he didn't use. I'll just use my sock.
What? Oh, God. I don't know. You weren't there for that, Moilena. Which one are you talking about?
The crazy sock lady. I'll just use my sock. I'll just use my sock. I love that story. Are you fucking kidding me?
These are the people you were hanging out with at the I believe they were still there on Sunday. Who was I hanging out with? The people at the fest. Yeah, you guys at home didn't hear Marlena. She was there shortly on Sunday, but I just made her take pictures most of the day while I was attacking Marcy Darcy.
Like, I'm going to go stand by her. You take pictures. All right, back to me being awesome. Back to you. Again, it's all about Misty.
So the point being is that whole episode, basically, he didn't even finish. He was midway in, and he already sent us a message here on the Twitter that says, I want a podcast of Misty making fun of people for an hour. Make it happen. Dude, all you gotta do is just strap our recorder to her hip as we go out to the mall. Yeah, I was like, we'll basically put a microphone in front of Misty for an hour and that's what you get.
It pretty much is. Dude, we're going to the fair. Holy shit. A fair episode. A state fair episode.
That would be a four hour episode. Wow. You're still bringing the recorder, right? I don't know if you guys can handle that. That would give you all enough ammo so that I could miss another week.
The amount of ranting that would come out of her. Jeez. I gotta keep you out of fights. Lord. One thing with a recorder is that you don't get me pointing at people.
Yeah, we also need video footage of you just pointing and laughing. Yeah. Rolling on the floor laughing. You've gotten better since I've known you. Remember that time we were at Jim Porter's and that couple was dancing and she fell right in front of me?
And I pointed and laughed. Yes. Loudly. Yeah. Yeah.
I can't do it. And she looked at me. That made me laugh harder. God, you're the world's worst human being. Wow.
What did you say? I'm just joking. I said, God, you're the world's worst human being. I know, man. He looked at me.
He said, huh? She's like, what are you doing? So cute. God. Oh, God.
So. I'm going to throw up. I'm going to throw up. So as vicious as she is, once again, as I've previously stated, it's all on her own terms. So to sum it up, Misty, would you like me to give them the quote that you put on your page today?
Because I think it kind of says it all, actually. Okay, sure. It says, I'm selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I'm out of control, and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.
That was Marilyn Monroe. That was fucking awesome. But I think it's pretty accurate for our own Misty. It is. Basically, if you love Misty, you love her for the way that she is.
And the way that she is is the way that she wants to do things. So you can't really make her do anything, I hate to tell you. No, you can't. And that's why. You love her.
You can't make her do a damn thing. It's a vicious circle. She's going to do what she wants to do, damn it. Fucking A. If I want to yell at the guy on TV, I'm going to yell at him.
You can yell at him on TV from now on. You just do that, honey. It's okay. You do that. You yell at that guy.
Just letting you know. If you start some shit at a convention, I might. Not always step in. You would leave me all to myself? I wouldn't leave you all to yourself.
But if there's 20 people, I'm going to have to grab you and run. Well, as long as you grab me and run. I can't take on 20 people. Shit. Maybe 10.
Maybe 10. Good lord. This is as long as it's not that lady with the sock. All she'd have to do is touch you. Did you see this lady or were you in the bathroom and you overheard it?
I had to give her toilet paper so she didn't use her sock. See, you're not all bad. I just didn't want to have to walk on the same floor as P-Sock. Or Poop Sock. And once again, yeah, we're assuming it was P-Sock.
I'm not making that assumption myself. I know these people too well. I'm also making the assumption that she hasn't already used her socks. Yeah, this is probably the first time today. Oh, I would be so screwed.
I don't usually wear socks. Use your hand. My flip-flop. Well, yeah, I don't want to wear that no more. Oh, God.
So yeah, on that note, keep the feedback coming. I can't guarantee you that Misty will appease your pleas, but feel free to make them anyway. The rest of us might be up for something, but... With that one in particular, I don't know. I've heard so much about it myself.
I feel like it's almost overdone. Are we back on The Room again? Are we making fun of people? Well, no. We'll always make fun of people.
That's not going anywhere. But as far as The Room, you said we can do it without you. But first of all, I think they only want you. And second of all, I feel like I've heard so much from every other show out there. It's sort of redundant at this point.
I think if I reviewed the trailer, I'd fucking hate this movie. Well, there you go. That wraps it all up. Yeah, that's kind of what I heard from behind me. I was sitting there on the computer, and I heard, what the fuck?
What the fuck is this shit? These fucking people are ugly. I don't want to watch this goddamn show. Fucking movie she suggested we make it a drinking game but I don't drink so that it's like alright first of all I have to watch this shitty ass movie and second of all you'll be able to watch it with a bunch of drunk. Ass people yeah then you're surrounded by drunk people yeah that's not gonna be good especially cause one of them will probably be Roger yeah we.
Never know what he's gonna be on anyways. Yeah really so yeah. I don't know if I drink enough cough syrup I could get pretty belligerent. Cough syrup drinking game we'll all be drunk somebody will be pumping Marlena laughing I vote for Joanie. Me too.
I vote for Joanie. My money is on Joanie. She seems like a humper. Truthfully, I don't even know if you'd have to get her liquored up. She might just do it next week.
No, I'm just kidding. Chicago next week. I know, and there's a pretty good chance in the hotel room she is going to be humping on Marlene. Is she going to wear fairy wings while she humps? I hope so.
Because that would be so cute. Just around the room, not even at the convention. Is she supposed to dress up for the convention? I think she's just going to be fluttering around the room all night. Oh, good lord.
She's so cute. Yeah, I don't know what to tell you on that one. Otherwise, aside from the room, send in your suggestions or comments again we liked the uh the comments on online i don't know if we want to start including the twitter comments because we're getting some good ones i don't know. If they're really good they're good fuck. Yeah okay do you want to hear the one from the other day yeah sure uh i don't think he'd care but i don't know if i'll give it it's on our page anyway so uh the comment we got yesterday was as a butt pirate gay homosexual i'll have you guys know 80s dennis quaid was hot That was our last Twitter comment.
He had a creepy face, dude. I'm sorry. He was smirky. It wasn't even a smirk. It was like a Joker smile.
That's his smile, though. It was the same smile from Flesh-Eating Mothers. That's just creepy. Flesh-Eating Mothers was fucking awesome. We should do that movie.
I'll give him he was in shape. They made use of it. Every other scene when he... He was pretty damn ripped, especially at a time when he probably had to really work out. They didn't have fancy machines back then.
Oh, do you want to say your other comments about Dreamscape now? Oh, yeah. We posted this on Facebook, but Misty and I both made the. I noticed it first. Yeah, she noticed it first.
The observation? The observation that when he enters their dream... He does it via their colon. He goes up their poop tree. Yes, that's kind of what it looks like.
He's going into the colon. It's the way that you drink is through your butt. Once again, this movie was cutting edge ahead of its time because they didn't even have those scopes back then. They were really looking into the future because they didn't even know what that vision looked like. The future is the colon?
Yeah, pretty much. One in the family. Once again, I told you to stay out of my dreams and out of my book. That's a pretty good rule of thumb. I totally knew he was going to do her in her dreams.
I mean, come on. It's not like he really did it, you know? Dream rape. Dream rape. We called it last week.
Dream rape. But she didn't say no. You didn't tell her to shut up. You shut up and do it. You just go, shh.
You just ride this rail. Don't you worry about it. Hmm. How come that Inya music wasn't playing in the background or something? Yeah, you would have thought in her dream.
She did have a drilling dream. You'd think there would have been some sort of crazy... Deep forest or some shit like that. Tibetan monks? Tibetan monks.
Something. Something. Wait, I don't... That's more scary. That's more of the kid's nightmare.
Those are the kind of dreams that I have. Yeah. Okay, maybe it's more Inya than. Don Knotts and Tibetan monks. Yep.
That kid was ugly in that movie. Oh, God, yeah, I heard that, too. Leave bumpers on. She's a poor little bumper. What was that kid from again?
He was Tina Yeather's brother. Yeah, okay, yeah, I figured that out, but then... Yeah, that's what I heard through the movie was her going, God, that kid's fucking ugly. Just let the thing get him. Just let him kill him.
Jeez. Who wants to fucking help that kid out? Why does that not surprise me? When I got back in the movie we just watched today, I was like, yeah, use the kid as a shield. He's fucking ugly anyways.
And he's British. And he's British. And she's like, just throw him at the killer. Yeah, that was like five minutes in. And I was like, ah, babysitting tips from Misty.
I don't babysit. Last time I babysat my cousin, I locked him in a closet until he cried. Once again, this is not a shocker. Then I said I'm going to figure four leg lock until he cried. Back in the day, I could do a figure four leg lock because I watched me some wrestling.
Once again, keep this in mind at the conventions. When you're on the floor, she's going to have your leg locked. Just keep your children away. That too. I want people to do that anyways.
Keep that in mind. Kids usually run in fear and scream when they see me. And dogs. It's just your dog because she's stupid. My dog is really smart.
She knows to fear me seriously all i gotta do is look at her dog and she like. Cowers my dog loves everybody it was the coolest thing i've never seen somebody do that when we first started dating she just looked at that dog like and the dog just was like holy shit i was like dude that's so. Fucking cool yeah i scare dogs just by looking at them. I'll give you that one i i used to watch it on a weekly basis she would come over and i'd just be like and then dog would like go cringe and hide in the corner give her. The eyes give her that fucking look that's the same look my mom gave me as a child that's how I know how to.
Do it I used to go sit and cower in a. Corner I know how it works. My dog loves everybody I mean yesterday like anybody anybody walking down the street cause there are a bunch of people outside and I'm trying to walk her they're like oh my god a doggy and she's all like excited it could be like someone anybody. But me except for mister. That's because of the way I look at her.
It's not like she doesn't like me because I'm, you know, a jerk. Yeah, it's like because I don't like her. Yeah, the dog's fine until she gives her this specific look, and the dog's like, holy shit. Oh, it is on. That's my new power.
Is your dog brown or just shit itself? I mean, I can give her that look and she'll, like, lay down, but she doesn't, like, cower in fear. I guess she knows me well enough to know I'm probably not going to eat her soul. I, on the other hand.... Om nom doggy souls.
Holy shit. Oh, God. Oh, Lord. I wouldn't want to eat your dog's cell in price. Price feels like dog farts.
Farts are terrible. Cheese and liver. Well, I take her to my mom's house every day and my mom fucking feeds her burritos. I'm like, she has allergies. Feed her her special food and don't feed her anything else.
But she gets so hungry. Burritos. Hungry for burritos. What is wrong with her? I don't know.
She should know by now. Any more feedback? Any more fun Twitters? That's pretty much it. So, yeah.
Feel free to keep them coming in, because we do enjoy the feedback. We can't guarantee you'll get what you want, but we do like hearing from you. Don't be shy. We'd like to hear from you. So give us a call at 502-365-5565.
Or you can email us at geeksatmoviemeltdown.com. And just stop by the website for our frequent updates. That's moviemeltdown.com. Yeah, I'm not sure I could stomach The Room. It made me angry just watching the minute-and-a-half trailer.
Like I said, though, I looked it up. There was two different trailers for movies called The Room. The other had a short, but special kind of kid in it. Which made the reference to sex scenes even more creepy to me, but I don't know. I don't want some special helmet and Velcro shoe need and love, and I get that enough from you.
Wow. I don't have a helmet. Yes, you do. You have like 50 helmets. You do.
Oh, yeah, I do. Global collection. I don't have Velcro shoes in there. How do you like that? I do.
Me too. Misty brings the Velcro shoes, Jay brings the helmet, and it's a party. Oh, yeah. It is a party. All right.
It's time. Is it? Sharktopus countdown! I've got a picture called Sharktopus, which comes out September 25th on the Sci-Fi Channel. God, I feel like I'm going to be sick.
All right, good. Then read this. Give them the countdown numbers. I actually have to read. Is it 41 days, 3 hours, 52 minutes, and 20 seconds?
Oh, yeah. Until the premiere of Sharktopus. Yeah, but by the time this airs, it's going to be really. I don't care. Well, see, luckily, it doesn't matter because I added a Sharktopus countdown clock onto our website.
Holy fucking shit, man. It's like all high-tech and shit. Oh, no, it's crappy, but I did it. I pieced it together, but it's got a nice little tropical picture there, and in my mind, Sharktopus is going to pop up out of the water at any given moment. So, yeah, go to the website.
It's on the homepage there. There's a running clock until the premiere of Sharktopus. It's going to be awesome. I'm going to draw Sharktopus tonight. Let's get matching Sharktopus tattoos.
I was already thinking about one, actually. Yeah, it's going to be awesome. Do it. You can have the whole thing. Really?
Okay, kids, get out here to go to Ben's. It is time for. Movie Meltdown's Secret Circle reveal of the next feature after next. One and some extra stuff features. Once again, we've always got stuff going on just to mix it up and bring you some interesting, interesting stuff.
If you want to call it interesting. Oh, I'd say next week's going to be interesting. Next week, we are on the road. Road trip to Chicago. Going to the Windy City.
Yeah. I am driving the short bus to. The Windy City. We are on the short bus. We are on the short bus.
The meltdown short bus, if you will. Taking my granny's van. Yes. Yep. So this should be interesting, just locked in a van with the rest of these peoples.
Mostly Roger. If he actually shows up. It'll be okay. We'll see. He'll probably be asleep.
Yeah, he'll sleep most of the time or play Nintendo. You guys can sit back in the back and watch a movie. I should go buy a DS for this road trip. You're going to buy a DS just for the day of the road trip? Yes.
She's a big spender. I have so much money at my disposal. You do? I just don't pay my bills. Yeah.
So yes, next week we will be going to Wizard World slash Chicago Comic Con. Hell yeah. Stalking Shatner. Stalking Shatner. Bo Duke.
Gonna be tracking down some Adam West. Gonna get me some crazy Batman skills. He's gonna teach that and I can take over his past. I will be the next. But Bo Duke's going to be there.
And good Lord, he is still hot. He's pretty awesome. Tom Wopat did not age well. But still, Luke Duke aged well than Catherine Bach did. Oh, yeah.
She looks... Actually, everybody else. Other than Uncle Jesse. Boy, he looked good. And those stories about the Catherine Bach photos, I'm pretty convinced that my mom got rid of those.
What was that? My dad apparently got photos of Catherine Bach up close. When she was here for Carl Casper. She was coming out of the dressing room. She was coming out?
My dad just happened to snap photos maybe from me to you really close as she was walking up to the stage. He was so obsessed with Catherine Bach that I think my mom kind of got pissed off about it, and his photos mysteriously disappeared at the photo mat. They never got them back. Nice. Somebody stole them.
Yeah, somebody stole them. I think what happened was my mom went and picked. Them up and then took them out. That's a little on the crazy side. Kind of.
How dare you? You would never. You don't fuck with Thai chicks, dude. You don't fuck with my mom, either. No, my mom's crazy.
Your mom's awesome. I love your mom. She's awesome. She made egg rolls yesterday, dude. No wonder you love her.
I love your mom, too. I fucking love your mom, too. I don't get to see her enough and eat delicious egg rolls. I didn't even have to see her. He brought them home to me.
Oh, I'm jealous. So, Chicago. You know what sucks is that we don't have a table at the Comic Con, so we can sit there and make fun of people walking by. No, because they'll be stuck there. They won't be able to walk around.
We can walk around and shit. We're free to annoy people and make fun of them. I guess we'll talk about that. Take pictures of their costumes. Yeah, we'll talk about it.
That's the thing. I've got the portable one this year, so we'll be able to actually stand there on the floor and make fun of people. Which I will do. Which Misty will do. Because my adoring fans love it so.
Oh, don't they? I made my head big. Yep. So, I don't know. Pure fucking gold.
I've got... That's. A butt of Hollywood. Kind of Misty's butt. My golden butt.
She spins a web of golden... Hatred. Hatred. Right out of her ass. I really wanted to upload that comment to.
Facebook, and then my phone died on me. Fucker. Oh yeah, Chicago is going to be awesome. Okay, you're going to visit the alley... Yep.
Going to go visit Hollywood Mirror. Can we go to Jason's home and garden? Nobody cares but me, but I care so much. Where is that at? Oh, I don't know.
Chicago. Chicago. It's not far from the alley in Hollywood Mirror. Can we eat at Combo's place? What is it?
It's a burger place that has hamburgers named after metal bands. I think they're pretty cool. The hour is, the wait is like hour song. Oh, jeez. I don't know about that.
Yeah. We're very impatient. Yeah. We about had a fit last time. We had to stay outside for ice cream.
For two hours, though. Yeah, the guy goes, it'll be 30 minutes. And I was like, no, you fucking lied to me. Yeah, she did. Once again.
You said 30 minutes 20 minutes ago. Misty at her finest. So, yeah, once again, we've got a more mobile. No, because that would make sense if we said 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 20 minutes ago. That would still mean I.
Have 10 minutes. Whatever. You still told the guy you lied to me, which the guy didn't have much of a comeback for that. He just kind of stuttered and kind. Of quickly turned around and ran away.
He cowered in the corner like a dog. But he came back relatively soon. He did. That he did. All right.
So, yeah, we've got a more mobile recording unit. So we're hopefully going to get a few key sessions out in the world there. And at some of these ridiculous things we're going to do, we can stop and make fun of people, probably. So we'll try to give you a complete... The.
Gay parade's not going to be going on this year, is it? Oh, God, I hope not. That did cause a traffic. Yeah, I don't really care, but it totally jacked up the traffic. And we're like, guys, really?
There's no parking. Do it somewhere else where I'm not at. We found a place last year. Here it is. Gay parade there was no place to.
Park there's there's a lot of gay people in chicago that's cool but on another street where i'm not at right now because you i don't care who it is you can be the mexican parade there's a whole lot of mexicans in chicago too and i can't park there either so stop just stop. Brian doesn't like gays or mexicans apparently i'm just kidding brian. Is He has a gay message. And I hate white people. Olé!
Hola! Como estas? Olé! Olé! Oh, God.
Oh, God. So, yep, that will be next week. Whether or not there are gay Mexicans, you'll have to turn in and find out. In the following. Put the ice cream trucks on.
Yes! Yay! And their blonde highlights in their hair. I love that! All right.
And the following week, we'll be back here, I'm assuming, if we all survive Chicago. We will be back here. I'm going to leave Roger. We might ditch Roger somewhere along the way. I'll bring Joni back, though.
We like her. Well, yeah, Joni will come back. So, yeah, we will be back in the studio the following week for the super special Night of the Creeps episode. I actually have an interview to go along with it with Mr. Tom Atkins, which was awesome, by the way.
I like him. Didn't he say he wanted to show up? Didn't he say he wanted to shoot Keanu Reeves a whole bunch? Oh, it's not Keanu Reeves, Nicolas Cage. I believe he did say he enjoyed shooting Nicolas Cage.
So you've got to like him for no other reason than that alone. Yep, so we will have our interview with Tom Adkins, and I just realized today that most of the crew has not seen Night of the Creeps, which is kind of awesome. So we will get a fresh perspective on Night. Of the Creeps. I think that's one of those that flew under my radar.
Mine did for a long time. I just ended up seeing it in the last year or so. So yeah, it'll be good to see what everybody thinks of it. All right, anything else to round out this episode? If The Drive-Ins has good movies anytime soon, if we can all swing it on Saturdays, I think we should go do that.
Cooter's going to be there in September. Fuck yeah. Holy shit. Cooter. Cooter.
Why? Why? Cooter's going to be there signing autographs. We might be able to get him to sit in on the show. Actually, we probably might.
Cooter, would you like to tell us what you thought of Night of the Kreeks? He's going to be wearing a sleeveless shirt, isn't he? Wait, that's not him at all. No, that's Roscoe. That's Roscoe.
Go crying. All right. I guess that rounds it out here. Otherwise, that about does it. We will return next week.
Same geek time, same geek feed. Thanks for listening. Bye. Bye. The faceless corpse of a gentleman Dumped out of.
Sight by the devil's hands A bleeding soul. Sent on its way The family's lost and. No one's gay A. Long lost sheep, refused and alone For silent walls, for the silent soul Dreaming within. Where the question lies The anchors of silence.
Don't. Shut up. Don't. I said shut up. Shoot him now.
