The following feature has been rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America. It is intended for mature audiences and parental discretion is advised. Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million. Kilowatts of power. What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown.
I'm Brian. This is Roger. I am Misty. I'm Jay, back from the third dimension. I'm Marlena.
I can't follow that up. Where is the third dimension? I have no idea. What did you do there? Stuck in a shitty job dimension.
Oh, God. Wait, no. I know that dimension. Yeah. Funny me.
Yeah, I went from a perfectly okay job, and then I got sucked into a shitty job. Dag. So you hate your new job? I hate my new job. You hate your last job?
Yeah, I want out of that place as soon as possible. Wow. Somewhere, something's crying. So that way we want to kick off our week. Yeah.
The fun activities. Yeah. Mine were not as bad, I guess. I don't hate my job. I hate the rest of my life, but I'm okay with my job.
Other than that, yeah, anything I set out to watch, I didn't actually watch this week. The only things I watched were, like, accidental. And it seems like that happens more and more anymore. I will sort of have the TV on not paying attention, and then something will... Come on, and before I know it, I'm halfway into it.
Grab your eyeballs. Yeah, the first one was, I think this week was the first time it premiered on cable, because that's a big deal. Six years later. The Halloween 2. I ended up re-watching the Halloween 2 from last year.
I still haven't watched it. Still have not either. I still have the same issues with it. I, you know, Daniel's awesome. The Brad Dourif guy's really cool in it.
But, yeah, Scout, I'm just not sold on. The story I have major issues with. I did this time the Brie Grant, the blonde chick in it with the glasses. She's actually really cute. I may have to see what else.
Because I saw another. She's also in that weird midnight movie I just watched here. So I may have to see what other stuff she's in. In that E-Trade? midnight movie i hated. Midnight i know but the name is so awesome it's just like midnight meat train how could this movie be bad.
Oh it is oh i fucking hate that. Vinnie jones i want to beat the hell out of you but i probably can't i don't know i. Saw that fat guy on youtube beat the crap out of vinnie. Jones are you calling me are you calling me the fat guy on youtube i'm not sure i like that What? Vinnie Jones is awesome.
I don't normally want to beat him up. That was at a pool hall or something, right? Yeah, he tried to get in a fight with this guy in the hallway or something. He got creamed. I think the guy pushed him down or did something.
I don't know. It was pretty funny, though. Otherwise, let's see. But I mean, I did notice, I guess I probably mentioned that at the time, but the visuals are still good, like in the dream sequences. And when you give him a reason to come up with these crazy visuals, he kind of, you know, Rob Zombie still has these moments where he's, you know, got something to offer.
So I wish he would just get over his weird attitude. And maybe it's good that he's, you know, getting away from remakes now and he'll do a real movie again. Yeah. Yeah, this one, there's just so many issues. The ambiguous timeline I really had a problem with.
You're like, it's set in the 70s, and then they pull out cell phones, and you're like, I don't understand. I don't think it's in the 70s. I know, but it looks and everything feels like it's set in the 70s. It's just in his brain. It's where it is.
It's all set in the world that he lives in, which is still sort of like that 13-year-old kid he always was. I don't think I had a problem with that as much. I'm usually a pretty pissy bitch about shit like that. And the timeline was skewed. I don't remember.
It's been over a year since I've watched it. But her growing up and the. The timeline was just off or something. That's what I remember about it most, but I can't exactly remember how, cause it's been a while, but carry on. That's still the least of its issues plot wise.
It's got other problems, but the other one is, I mean, that one wasn't a surprise, especially since I'd already seen it before the other one, even I'm still kind of in shock that I mostly because I think I was going in thinking it was a different movie. That's probably why I stuck with it as long as I did. I ended up watching the long shots. long shots i. Kept thinking like i kept waiting for the rest of it to kick in because i think i was mixing it up with the replacements which is kind of another the replacements is the horrible football movie with like keanu and i and i thought that's what was coming on i was like oh god i don't want to watch this and then i kept seeing like no keanu and then like Ice Cube.
Shows up, and I'm just like, what? Wait, when is the terrible Keanu plotline going to kick in? So, yeah, it was like halfway in. I was like, oh, I think this is a totally different movie. And by that point, I was like, well, I kind of like this other girl in it.
The Long Shots is an entirely different thing. It's more of a heartwarming sports movie, which, you know, that's about all they make. That's two things I don't like. Heartwarming movies and sports movies. See, that's why I'm still in shock that I watched it, because I am not one for, oh, I love the sports movies!
Was it still underdog-ish? It's very underdog-ish. And that's the part of it I think I got sold on. The little girl that was in it is Kiki Palmer, who was, she's actually the same girl that was in Akilah and the Bee, which I have still not seen either, but That was I mean, that's you know, she's sort of an up and coming actress and she plays this little like girl in high school and she is like a nerd and she sits around reading all the time. And, you know, the kids don't like her and she she's got her dad skipped out on her.
She's got an uncle that's like. pretty much homeless at this point. I mean, he, he's got a, well, he's not homeless. He just, he has no job. He wanders around and hangs out at the park all day. You know, he still carries a football around with him because he was like, he was like a hero.
He will know. Yeah. He was like, he was a high school football hero. Yeah. Kind of.
Ice Cube is Al Bundy in this movie because his entire life still centers around when he was a football star in high school. And then his knee went out. Is he a shoe salesman? No, he got a job at the plant. That's another little heartwarming aspect of this is the fact that it's the small town and then the plant closed down.
So the whole town has gone to hell now because the only place that everybody had a job is now closed down. So it's got all these weird little... social comments that it's trying to make along the way that are a little, a little heavy handed. No, but there's, there's, again, I don't care about all that stuff. The part with, with the girl was actually pretty good because she, At some point, she throws the football at him. He was like, damn.
He was like, you actually got it armed. You feel like a girl. No, he starts teaching her how to play football. And she's like, I don't want to play football. So he forces her so to live vicariously through.
Yeah, I need to live vicariously through. Yeah, that's how it starts. But then by the end, she sort of starts to find herself in this process. She really isn't the outcast. All of a sudden, she goes through the hazing of you're a girl, get the hell off our team.
And then eventually the guys realize, holy shit, she can make us have a real football team. And then it becomes this point of, like, the team actually gets behind her. And, like, they let her. She's not the sinner. It's like Teen Wolf, right?
No, because the team hated Teen Wolf because he was a jackass and he was like a showboat. This is the opposite. She's actually there and part of the team and helping them. So they're all like, okay, well, we have a reason to actually be friends with you. So it's sort of like her being accepted and not being outcast for once in her life.
And then Ice Cube, again, he has his moments where he's actually a decent actor. Like, of all your rap stars turned actor, of which there are an abundance of, most of them are usually pretty bad. He never plays anything far from himself or the version of himself he always ends up playing in everything. But he at least sells it. Like, I almost buy him as this guy.
I mean, he really does... play this you know he's out of work he's just hanging around he seems like he's a down on his luck kind of guy and then by the end of it he's so like instrumental in the teaching of her that when the coach you know can't play anymore he ends up stepping in as the coach of the entire team and it sort of changes his life too so that's the the whole crazy heartwarming bullshit dreams. Do come true I mean, am I crazy, but coaching a high school football team is, like, not the greatest accomplishment in life. It is when your entire day consists of drinking a 40 out of a paper bag in the park. I guess. I mean, at this point, he has a job.
He has a life. He has a purpose. He has purpose. He has people to interact with. I mean, it really does, like, give you this character development on both of these people.
I mean, those two are actually useful characters. The again the conventions of the story are very tired very played out so i'm not surprised but and the fact that it is a true story the girl that she's playing was the first girl to be able to play pop warner football ever in history so it's like it is you know the fact that it was sort of groundbreaking and all of that is kind of cool and and in its existence the movie isn't anything amazing the most amazing thing was at the end credits um it came up directed by fred durst Really? Like the real Fred? And I had to go. I was like, is there another Fred Durst out there?
No, it was directed by a backwards hat wearing Fred Durst. I feel like he was in something else. No. I watched a movie. Britney Spears.
Not according to her. That's what ended his career. Along with her. Along with his terrible music. That too.
No, it was a movie that had... What's this face from Clueless that I love? Jeremy Sisto, Suck and Blow. Population 351. Fred Durst was in Population 351.
It took me the whole movie to realize it, too. I didn't realize it until the end credits. I was like, oh my god, that was Fred Durst. Do you like Suck and Blow? I love Jeremy Sisto.
Dude, really? Suck and Blow is Jesus. Only in bad made-for-TV movies. I yelled that in the little blockbuster once. Holy shit, Suck and Blow is Jesus!
I'm sure people would take that the wrong way. And people listening now probably have no idea what you're talking about. I have no idea what you're talking about. The few that are piecing this story together. Yeah, Jeremy Sisto is, at least for us, since Clueless has come out, I've referred to him as Suck and Blow because he has the famous Suck and Blow scene in Clueless.
And that was about the only useful thing he did in Clueless. He's a tool in that movie, too. I loved him in May. What's happening? Who was that guy?
He was the jackass-y rich guy. Is he. He's in May. He's in. He's on Law & Order now.
Dead in Breakfast. I mean, he's in a lot of stuff. I love Dead in Breakfast. But he's handsome. He's always kind of a jerk and he has a deep voice.
According to one of those celebrity match, he is my dream match. According to one of those celebrity match.com. Don't trust those things on the internet. No, I want to be part of that match. I mean.
No, no. Not like a triangle, but like. room for one more. No offense. You're horning in on her celebrity love life. That's what I mean.
You can take him. I'll take him. He's kind of always a jerk and he has a deep voice. That's all I need. But anyways, we were at Blockbuster once.
That's awesome. We were at Blockbuster one time, and I forget which movie it was. I think it's like Jesus of Nazareth or something they remade. It was for one of the cable. It's like Hallmark Channel or somebody.
Lifetime. It went through making all these biblical stories, and for some reason when they cast Jesus, they cast Jeremy's sister. That is kind of a strange. So, yeah, very loudly because I think you were like a couple aisles away. I believe I was.
I held it up, too. It's like, oh, this is why we can't go out in public. It's like, I'm going to blow his cheese inside. Oh, God. So, yeah, Fred Durst.
But, yeah, then I had to check. And, well, I think the more I thought about it, I was like, no, I do remember him directing videos. Like, at the end of their popularity as musicians, I do remember him being attached to and directing a lot of their videos. And they started doing, like, Korn videos. And all the people in their little circle he started directing videos for.
And then I looked, he also did another movie, too. Like, a year or two before, he did a different movie. What was it? It's... Oh, shit.
It's that... It's... Don't worry about it. The Education of Charlie something or other. It's got.
You get another Halloween tale. Oh, yeah. I think that was a pretty good movie. Yeah, The Education of Charlie. Yeah, that's what...
That's like a big indie movie. Yeah, it did not seem to fit him. At least this one I can understand. He's working with Ice Cube. It's about a down-and-out team.
I can almost see... you know, him wanting to do a sports movie or something. But, yeah, that didn't seem like his movie at all. So it was weird that. He's a director. And I'm having a horrible nightmare of flash-forwarding, like, 15 years and him sitting at the Oscars.
Oh, God. I'm like, will he ever. Actually be taken seriously? Still going by Fred Durst. I never thought it would happen with Marky.
Mark, but he's, like, an A-list. I know. There you go. He's got a third nipple, and the bitches like to suck it. That will never get old.
Right. But, yeah, I don't know. I mean, you do see people do that turnaround in their career and go from a joke to actually being taken seriously. So maybe that future is out there for Fred Durst. I don't think that's too far-fetched.
I mean, Ron Howard was, like, Opie, and then he was on Happy Days. He was Richie Cunningham. Richie Cunningham, and now he's, like, yeah. Yeah. That is one of the few places...
Ron Howard, I'm a director. If you can escape behind the camera, yeah, you can at least sort of distance yourself from it. And then Meathead. Oh, God. Although I don't really think he's that great.
Well, and he has his moments of being pretty awesome, but yeah, he's... Meathead? Rob Reiner? No. But, I mean, he didn't spend a whole lot of time.
He was just on one sitcom for a while, and then he quickly moved behind this camera, so. That was actually really popular in that era, and it was all shows that were connected, you know, like All in the Family, Happy Days, and then Penny Marshall from Laverne and Shirley. Yeah, pretty much. They all became, like, directors. Pretty much everybody Happy Days.
I think Anson Williams became, like, a huge TV director, and then I think even Donnie Most tried to do. It once or twice. He's like, everybody else is doing it. Yeah, might as well get behind the camera. Why didn't George Jefferson ever direct anything?
He might have. Yeah, right? Because he had other stellar TV shows. Yeah. To Lisa.
I don't direct cameras to Lisa. He had Amen and shit. I remember that show. My mom used to watch that show all the time. God, they loved that show.
Oh, Lord. So, yeah, those were the two. I'm still in shock that I watched the long shots because I could give a rat's ass about sports movies. Or heartwarming movies. Or heartwarming movies.
But, yeah, the Kiki Palmer girl is actually a good actress. I'd like to see where she turns up in a few years because I can see her actually. Becoming a legitimate star. Going somewhere, doing things. Yeah, being a big name actor.
Sounds like that time I got sucked into Seabiscuit. That was a good movie. It was. I know. I would never watch a movie about horse racing.
I could give a shit less about fucking horse racing. Or Tobey Maguire. Or Tobey Maguire for that matter. I love that. I was sat there.
I love that damn horse. And I got sucked into it. I almost got sucked into that Bob Hope movie. last night. Oh, wow. I was like, oh, I gotta turn the channel.
Like a day at the races or something, right? No, no, we were on some island and there was a monkey. I don't know. Interesting. I probably would have sat there and watched it, but then a commercial came up.
Then a commercial came up and then I was like, what was I watching? Oh, shit. And then I start changing the channel. Anything with a monkey sucks you in every time. I had a tiger that attacked a guy in a gorilla suit.
Oh, word. And the tiger killed the monkey, and then the monkey's mate got all sad. Is this the Siegfried and Roy story? I don't know. I probably should have watched the whole thing, but whatever.
We would have actually watched something for our game. Yeah, yeah. Instead of me just falling asleep on the couch like an old man. I'll go watch Secretariat today. Secretariat.
Only because Diane Lane is in the area. I'm hoping to run into her later. I'll go to Target to buy cereal. Diane Lane's in the area? She's in Lexington.
They're having a premiere of Secretariat. Oh, I thought you meant she lives here. Well, it reminds me. I missed the Shatner art show yesterday. What?
Shatner's wife had an art show in Lexington yesterday, and there was an open invitation on the air. Oh, good for her. Was he gonna be there he was supposed to be there oh man you could have gone and been like by the way sir you're a jerk yeah actually i like your show but you're a jerk. Did you ever watch boston legal no he was awesome on that too i. Heard it was really funny he would like situations would get tense and he'd just reintroduce himself like.
That was like the joke of the show i should actually watch that because the new show uh bleep my dad said i watched the first episode and it sucked so bad i haven't gone back to watch anymore Is that the end of your Geek Week? Yeah, that's pretty much it for me. How about you, Roger? Did you have Geek Week? Our Geek Week, Joni, who is the Phantom today, is not here.
I thought you referred to yourself like we as we don't even know when you're by yourself. Well, we're a unit, always. You're morphing into one. Yeah, really, it's weird. I've got a small arm growing out of my side.
It's strange. But I think Avatar, we borrowed the whole Avatar Last Airbender from my friend, who had the complete series and burned through that this week. Not the movie. Not the movie, which we'd still like to see, but I saw Appa in CG, and it was so terrible. I laughed out loud and was like, this is a flaming piece of shit, which I will see.
But once it comes out on DVD or somebody owns it, because I don't want to pay even a dollar. Nobody's going to own that. Yeah. Nobody's going to want to own that. I'll find it somehow.
I don't know. Wow. Not even a dollar. TV. I don't know.
I don't like M. Night Shyamalan. I've never been a big fan of his. And. I don't know, it just seems like this is something more personal that he's crapped on.
Like, oh, God, I love Avatar The Last Airbender, and you screwed that up? Oh, hell no. Oh, it's on. God, seriously. I think he got...
It's the trees, it's the trees. They're killing people. He got led astray, because that's one of those, actually, I think it was a week before last, that same thing ended up. It was on regular TV, and I just looked up, and it was in the middle of Unbreakable. Which is actually good.
I haven't watched it since the first time when it came out on DVD. The thing is, it's a good movie. And on top of that, his visuals were really impressive. And I hadn't paid attention to that. And I was like, you know what?
If you go back far enough, he was a talented filmmaker. Yeah, 100%. Happened he lost his damn mind because you look at the last several things he's made and I'm just like what the fuck are you doing with your career so yeah it is sad because I hadn't I just sort of gotten to the point of like he's a joke he's a joke but I haven't watched The Sixth Sense in forever I didn't have a problem with that one and then Unbreakable was the same way it's like there's a good movie there and somebody talented who made it and since then he's lost his damn mind. So so we did we did that and then just the other day uh she hadn't seen the real original alien. So i was like oh we gotta watch.
That shit did you set her straight. Mother in yeah i set her straight on a couch and shoot Watch an alien. And it was bad. She's like, yeah, it's awesome. She's like, it stands up really well today.
Yeah. You know, as far as, you know. Except for the Sigourney Weaver and her bikini briefs. Because, like, back in the day when that came out, I was like, God, she's fucking hot. And now I'm, like, looking at it going, was I just an overly horny bitch?
Teen yes i was like looking at it going down i was like. I always thought sigourney weaver was attractive. Shoot well and at that point you didn't get tons of nudity and stuff it was just getting to that point where you know you they'd been playing it like in you know grindhouse kind of movies but you didn't have a lot of crossover into mainstream movies where actors would just get naked not all the time they did but it was a big deal so yeah the fact that you know this especially in the next few years when she became a huge star was hanging out in her underwear you know it was a big deal. At the time well it's funny that you say that is you know that's the first thing that joni says she's like i.
Don't like her tits and i was like what's wrong and i stopped the video i'm like wait hold on. You paused it at the right moment whoa let's take a look here hold on let's uh go back and rewind But she really enjoyed it, said that it held up really well, and I'm like, good. So we're going to watch the second one, Aliens, which everyone knows is my favorite movie of all time. Yeah, it is fucking awesome. Stop it.
Why? It's distracting. I'm sorry. Oh, my God. You two are having issues over there.
Yeah. He said you're flailing about. I'm trying to figure out what. The hell's going on. What's happening?
He's dancing. Hold his tongue down. Put something in his mouth. He'll bite his tongue off. All right, sorry.
And I think that's pretty much it. We didn't watch anything except for a little bit of TV, but I'll first get into my reading because I read. You are a reader. I am a reader. First, I read the Walt Disney Studios, The Black Hole, a pop-up book.
Did you really read it? I did. No, I actually read all the words. There are words. There aren't that many, but I read them.
Mostly, I just pulled the little thing that makes the alien or the robot come down. I did, dude. It was kind of scary. Does it have parts in the book that, for more information, see movie? No.
See, look. Yay. Nobody at home can see this. See, Vincent's head just popped up. You guys are missing out.
We can post pictures if necessary. What the hell is that? He's riding on Vincent. Oh, wow. Vincent offers Pizer, I don't know how to say his name, because I've never actually seen the movie, so this is all a big surprise to me because I don't know what the hell happened.
I say we work that one in. Oh, my gosh. Yeah, that movie's so bad. I'm putting that on the list. I haven't seen that in forever.
It's exciting. I got it at a flea market. For $ 1. That was one of the first model kits that I put together was a Maximilian model kit. Nice.
I still have my Maximilian figure. Oh, man. I have such a weird thing for Maximilian. He's a tight designer. He's one of the tightest designs for any robot.
No, no, no. I mean, it was like way before transformers. Well, no, way before transformers. It was way before any robot looked cool. Transformers, but I mean, you know, I mean, when we were kids and you're obsessed with robots and you had Shogun Warriors and stuff like that, but then you had that come out and you were like, holy crap, that's awesome.
He's got little spinny things on his hands. And you never really know what his deal is, which makes him that much cooler. See, there they are. It's like we had. We also didn't have badass robots.
At that point, before that, you've got Robbie the Robot kind of robots in the 50s and 60s. And then growing up, we had C-3PO and R2. And I'm like, R2' s cool. He's not a badass. He's got attitude.
You've got to like him for his attitude. C-3PO is far from being a badass. We all know. The robots are always clunky. He's like an English butler.
He is. And so you get to a couple years later, and you've got Maximilian come along. You're like, holy shit. The streamlined, hovering, sleek, weapon-tongued. Silent blade bearing motherfucker you're just like holy shit robots can be.
Awesome i have rocks on the inside of my pants what i don't know you. Got rocks in your pants what have you been doing i don't know but anyways i read the black hole pop-up book it was pretty exciting. I was a spellbound It is fun. Later that night, while Jay fell asleep on the couch like an old man, I. Sat and read the Choose Your Own Adventure, Search for a Unicorn.
Because both of these, you are about 11 years old. I read the entire thing. I read the entire thing. Every option, every ending, I read the entire thing. Yeah.
I was pretty excited. While I slept. You did. I read it. Thank God you weren't awake for it.
I'm telling you, it was pretty exciting. I had to search for a unicorn in order to save my village. Yeah. The water supply was contaminated by a dead rat. Did you find a double rainbow at any point?
I had a tear rainbow where if you cried during the moonlight, there would be a rainbow. Oh, God. And it would save the unicorn, and then the unicorn would put its horn in the water, and then it would keep drinking, so yay. I had to save a village, and many times I failed, and many times I succeeded. It was an adventurous night.
And then I got up and ran to the phone and almost fell over and passed out. Somebody, a wrong number called you at 1.30 in the morning. It's the same lady all the time. Hello? Hello?
Hello? From South Carolina. Some Latin lady keeps calling me. Quit calling me, okay? I'm not your mama.
I'm not mama. I'm not papa. You'd be friends by now. I know. You could not be a wrong number.
No hables espanol. No hables nada. It really would be amazing and kind of awesome if she also listened to the show. Completely by freak accident she was listening. But yeah, we didn't watch any movies.
I watched a couple of TV shows, one of which I'm now smitten with because I now love, I think it's Raising Hope, which is a stupid ass name, but it's got Martha Plimpton in it and it's fucking hilarious. That's Martha Plimpton. I didn't even know it was Martha Plimpton until you guys said it. Because it was Martha Plimpton, I was like, holy shit, it was. My god, she's yeah, she's become a mom.
She has it's like she's the grandma of the show now. Yeah, that's true. She well cuz the main character is her son and the plot of the show is he now has a daughter. Because the baby's mama went to jail for killing somebody so she had the baby in jail and then miraculously It just showed up on his doorstep and they killed her That's my favorite. It's not like she's still in prison like I I just realized that point in this week's episode.
I was like, holy shit, they killed the mother? I kind of like this show. It's fucking hilarious, dude. I tell you. I mean, usually new shows I'm kind of like, eh, but this one was fucking awesome.
I love it. It's only been up like two episodes. I know, I could hear you laughing in the other room. Yeah, while you were pooping. What?
That's why you missed it. It was on the internet. No. Hey, that's what laptops are for. But anyways, other than that, I watched the Glee Britney Spears special edition.
I did, unfortunately. Once again, that was sort of going on in the background, and I was trying not to pay attention. I had to warn Jay. I'm like, I'm going to watch Glee. You might want to go in the other room.
I was like, all right, thanks for warning me. I can't help it. I now have a crush on the Glee teacher guy, Will, whatever the fuck his name is. Yeah, I kind of do, too. He's so adorable, and he can sing and dance at the same.
Time, so. Yeah. Again, that's all I can give him credit for is just the technical end anymore because the story is gone. Like, there is no story anymore. It's about a page of dialogue spread out between a bunch of music videos.
It's just, it's so ridiculous. But it has some will and he's... Gorgeous. He's a stud boy. Whatever.
And it had John Stamos in it. Come on now. And I like the fact that they're doing a Britney episode. They pull out every bad song that she's had in the last half of her career. They only played, what, one from her first couple of albums that people actually liked?
It's like they're playing fucking Toxic and shit. I'm like, wow, wasn't she over at that point? I mean, I know they still played that song, but... wasn't she really unpopular by the time all of the... I mean, they did the song with her and Madonna. I was like, nobody fucking liked that song.
But yeah, now I want to get season one and watch it when Jay's busy doing. Something else far, far away. Yep. Yes. In the garage.
Yeah. Doing man stuff. Doing man stuff. Yeah. A lot of men...
Do not like that. Manly men do not like that show. A lot of singing, I guess. It's not that I hate it. I don't like it.
I've got other things I can be doing besides watching people sing and dance. Unless it's Bob Hope and Bing Crosby. Well, that's different. And there's monkeys involved. Monkeys.
Yeah, monkeys. I mean, if they put monkeys in Glee, I might have to watch it. That's what they are. Monkeys singing and dancing. They do keep having all these theme episodes.
Maybe it'll just be a monkey episode. I don't know. I don't know. I do like the... I do like...
The episode that had the girl from Pushing Daisies, the olive from Pushing Daisies. She was like a drunk. It was in season one. That was cute. I don't know if Roger has a problem with the wheelchair.
It's retarded. Who thinks that that's cool? It is terrible. He's on the football team now. Oh, you're lying.
I forgot about that part. Please, please. Is he the kicker? They could use him as a battering ram. It's a heartwarming tale.
He's the first kid in a wheelchair to be in Pop Warner football, which I'm pretty sure he's too old. For Pop Warner. I'm so glad I'm not watching the show even more now. I thought of. That when I saw like, ooh, Roger would not like this at all.
Who likes that? Who's like, man, they're touching on important points. This is ridiculous. God. God.
We didn't know that rant was coming. All right. Moving on. All right. That's all we did.
We didn't watch anything else. Yeah. Nothing. I bought an original Search for Spock poster. That was pretty exciting.
Oh, wait. You're forgetting your most important find of the week this morning. Oh, yeah. Hell, yeah. We bought a...
They bought all the monster cereals this morning. They are apparently only available at Target, so if you need you some Count Chocula, Frankenberry, Booberry, they're only available at Target. Yeah, I know, because I looked for them at Kroger, and I was like. Me too. Last night, we were all over the damn place looking for stuff.
We were at Meyer, Kroger, Walmart. Only Target's carrying them this year. Thank you, Jeremiah, if you're out there. Because his geekery and his connection to Boo-Berry. I know.
This is why I can be friends with Jeremiah. I'm like, oh, you have a Boo-Berry tattoo. Did you know where I can get my monster cereal? Nice. I was really excited.
I even had to post my picture on Facebook of Matthew Gray Googler with his monster cereal. But yes, if you go to Target, they're not in with the Halloween stuff. Or the cereal. They're at an end cap near the front, near the register. I saw the Fruit Roll-Ups, but I didn't get them.
They don't taste anything like the cereal. It tastes just like regular fucking Fruit Roll-Ups. I love you said Fruit Roll-Ups, but I'm like. Wait, so it's like a blueberry Fruit Roll-Up? Yeah.
What's the point of that? No, they don't jump foods. They're cereal. I was pretty upset last night. I couldn't get the tongue tattoo to work properly.
I was trying the. Frustration put on your body and somebody else licks it i think that's the only way it works if you do this is for kids though. Well kids are developing way earlier these days grade school is different than when i was there much different. So yeah target yeah target how about a safaris record That was about all I did. Nobody knows.
Do you want to sing some of it? No, I can't because we couldn't hear it on the record player because the record player is apparently. We don't have a functional record player. I don't even remember. We've got two and they haven't worked.
I've got to go get my dad to fix the one that's broken since he knows about all the record players and stuff. He needs to fix all our shit. We have two TVs, two record players, and a radio. I need to get him to teach me how to fix vacuum tube type radios and TVs. That'd be tight.
But anyways, I had Count Chocula for breakfast, and then I followed up with a bowl of Frankenberries. I got a. You should put them on one. Shh. What a point all in one.
Isn't that just become fruit brood at that point? And why did you want to have a Frankenberry or a Blueberry? Blueberry. Because every year when you have Blueberry, you get blue poop. You get blue poop.
I've never had blue poop from eating Blueberry. Apparently you didn't eat enough. You gotta eat a lot of it. You gotta eat a whole box. You gotta basically put milk in the box.
You need to eat. The whole box. Which is easy to do. Much easier than it should be. I know.
Oh, Frankenberry's my favorite, though. I think Count Chocula's my favorite. Count Chocula is pretty good. It's quite tasty. Yeah.
I'm going to go to Target right after I leave here. I had to get up early. I had to get up early this morning just to go to Target. Then I was freaking out because it was not in the Halloween section. I, like, walked down the same aisle, like, four times.
Like, where the fuck is it? I was freaking out. I need my fix, I need my fix. I'm like, that's it, we're going to the one in Clarksville. Yeah, I was trying to figure out what was going on with you.
With the happy skipping dancing, and as I saw them, they finally saw it. No, you were going nuts pacing up and down the aisle while I was talking. She was jonesing for blueberry. Where is it, where is it, where is it, where is it? Then we were walking towards the checkout to go to a different Target, and they're like, oh my God, there it is.
So I was like running and flailing. Pushing children down the road. Oh, where are you? And they've changed the box art. They've changed all the characters.
They all look different. That's weak. It's like they always do. They revamp them and make what they think look cool. I've got no association to my childhood now.
I'm not going to like it anymore. It tastes the same. It tastes the same. It's unrelated, but speaking of that, they're changing Colonel Sanders back into Colonel Sanders. Huh?
It's been a long time. What are you talking about? Yeah. You know, they changed Colonel Sanders' image, the new KFCs. They've decided, like marketing in the last year or so, I don't know when they're going to start, but they're going to put old... like Colonel Sanders' image back on KFC stuff.
What's on there now? This heterosexual version of. It's been years since I've even gone to KFC. You talk about the. The image of his face.
Just his image. Just the kind of cartoon outline drawing. They've changed it so much. He doesn't have his suit and he doesn't look the same. They've changed the way he looks.
Well, I always liked the little tie, the little bow tie. Because I'd always take a marker and you could draw little hands on the bow tie and feet and it made it look like he had a little body. That's pretty awesome. That's pretty funny. this is like a fun fact for you kids at home. Yeah because this bow i mean all i had was this big head with a bow tie.
You know and so you could just oh we know he's got a body now it's a sick body i'm gonna probably not worry about his image and i don't know drop like the what's it called a double deuce or double down or whatever Get rid of that crap and get back to the deliciousness that it used to be. Hey, Kentucky, this is why you're so fat. I can't stand their chicken. It's always wet. That's an extra benefit.
It's just wet. And you don't have to order a drink. It's saving you money. Just wring out your chicken sandwich. On a side note, my boss almost killed a guy at KFC last week.
Did he come across a counter? Not at all. Really close. He went to the drive-thru, and him and his kid, I think, were in the truck or something, and he goes to the drive-thru, and he was like, do you guys have anything like a McNugget meal or like a Happy Meal for a kid? Ooh.
And the guy on the thing said, no, sir, this isn't fucking McDonald's. Oh, wow. We don't have that shit. He said fucking? Yeah.
Wow. Oh, wow. And he went ballistic. He said, you little goddamn piece of shit, you motherfucker. He fucking pulled up to the window, jumped out of his truck, grabbed the billy club that he's got in his truck, and was beating.
On the window. He was like, come outside. I'm going to kick your ass. Oh, my God. He's going nuts.
I want you to come out through this window. Not through the door. Through this window. And he was like, oh, crap. Yeah, really?
Because I looked at him. He said, I saw my reflection in the drive-thru mirror in the window, and I was like, oh, my God, I look like I'm crazy. I got in his truck and drove off. What have I become? Well, see, now nothing's going to happen except all the employees get to laugh about it.
If he would have just called, that guy would have been fired, and that's hilarious. I know, but. So was he mad because he was. No, he was mad because he's on steroids. That'll do it.
He's like, I don't know why I've been snapping lately. I was like, I told him, damn steroid you're taking. Yeah, it's called roid rage. There's a reason why they say roid rage because it's true. Exactly.
I don't know, maybe if he's like, the guy was cussing in front of his child, but then he started. To break the guy. No, he went nuts because the. Guy didn't Because the guy wasn't like, well, you know, we've got a kid's meal that's blah, blah, blah, you know. I think they're trained to go nuts or to cuss at people when they say other chains of fast food at their fast food joint.
Don't say McNuffin here. Yeah, well, I mean, I've said, I've heard people before, like, go to Wendy's and go, I'll take some McNuggets or. Something like that, you know, when they're talking about... Yeah. Like small chicken nuggets.
Chickenly. But I mean, it's one of those things that's been so ingrained for people to say McNugget. But just don't do it. There's no reason to fucking flip out like that. It's not like he's personally attacking your chicken or anything.
And really, you work at KFC, how much job loyalty do you have? Yeah, right? You probably hate your job and probably like piss in the fryer all the time. Maybe the other guy was suffering from roid rage too and it just collided that day. Roid rage on roid rage.
The chickens have leaked into him. Yeah. Yes. Battle of the Friday. Through the skin.
That's how it gets in. Anyways, that was funny. All right, that's our geek week. Okay. Wow.
Well, I actually watched quite a bit or started, you know how I am. I start to watch stuff and then I fall asleep. But I watched, I finally watched Dr. Horrible's sing-along blog. I love it.
That was amazing and I cried. You cried? I think. Wow. It is.
It's a sad moment. Yeah, it's really sad. It is really sad. I did ruin it for that one guy at Booking Music Exchange. I'm like, oh yeah, she dies.
Oh, hey. Hopefully everybody out there has watched it already. I don't know what you guys are doing. Once again, even if something as silly as that project, I have to give Joss credit. I mean, he does not pull punches.
When he wants to make a story sad, he fucking does it. Yeah. I fucking love it. The songs were amazing, though. I didn't know that they were awesome.
They were just very well written and funny. I was sad that it wasn't longer. It was only like 45 minutes or so. It was like. It's not short enough to be a short, but not long enough to be a movie.
I don't understand what's going on. It was awesome, though. It wasn't Nathan Fillion, just simply gorgeous. Which one's Nathan Fillion? Captain Hammer.
By Hammer. What are you talking about? And by Hammer, I mean penis. No, I don't think that guy's attractive at all. Oh, my God.
Because you're a Neil Patrick kind of guy. Yeah. Neil Patrick Harris is pretty awesome, too. But, man, I love me some fucking Nathan Fillion. I love Serenity, Firefly, damn near anything.
I can't get into Captain. White Noise 2. Hey, I think it was okay. What's his name on Buffy? The preacher guy?
Yeah, God, what was his name? I never realized that's who Nathan Fillion is, but ew. I just kept thinking, like, ugh, really, this guy? You're choosing this guy over Neil Patrick Harris? I think he's hilarious, though.
He's funny. He has a great sense of humor. Which is probably what makes him so hot. I mean, have you watched the Nailing Your Wife video? It's awesome.
Dude. That is hilarious. I'll have to watch that. You need to watch it. Yeah, it's pretty awesome.
Wow. Isn't that part of the PG porn series? Oh, yeah. Which is pretty classy, let me tell you. Wow.
It's the best one. It is the best one, actually. Between that one and the mechanic one, that one's pretty funny. That was pretty funny. Yeah, I watched that, and I thought it was amazing, and I immediately texted it.
How cute is Felicia Day in there, though? She was cute. For a redhead. I don't think it's natural red hair. It's okay, though.
See, my only problem with her, she's really cute in certain ways, but then she's got, like, that weird Simpsons overhang overbite mouth, like, Nice. But, you know, in some angles, she's very, very pretty. I watched this movie that had Bryce Dallas Howard called The Loss of a True Dr. Ironman it was based on like a Tennessee Williams play I think and uh it was it was okay it had um Chris Evans in it he's. Okay in something he's in everything yeah uh.
But I've seen pictures of him now as Captain America and I'm still it doesn't even look like him anymore. Yeah it's weird looking yeah and it was an okay movie it was kind of slow but she was just so beautiful in that movie it was like ridiculous. See once again another redhead so Are you sure it was her? To give ourselves credit. She had black hair.
She looked fine. Okay, that's probably what made her look okay. She was horrible in Twilight. I didn't like her. Yeah, Twilight's bad.
I didn't know she was in Twilight. Nobody's good in Twilight. She didn't like the third one. The third one she did. Because Rochelle LaFa, whatever, Stacy from Big Wolf on Campus.
For the geeks out there. Shoot, yeah. I don't know. I thought you thought Tori from Mythbusters was cute. Nah, she's all right.
Nah, she can be cute. She has a different shade of red. It's more into the shade of red that's what's pissing me off. I don't like the orange, ginger, whatever. I don't want to get into it again because whatever.
Yeah, your own opinion. But yeah, whatever. Yeah, but she had black hair. It was set in the 1920s, so she had short flapper hair, and she wore flapper dresses, and it was cute. And I like that she's not, like, super thin.
At least she wasn't in this movie. She's like. Like the meaty girl? Yeah. Like meaty girl.
Yeah. Meaty girl. But, yeah. I've never seen it. I don't know if she's meaty or not.
Yeah. I don't think she normally. Is, but. Not normally, no. In this movie, she kind of...
I mean, not really, but she wasn't, like, stick figure thin. But I thought... You know, Roger last week was talking about how she was horrible playing a blind person. Oh, God. I thought her southern accent came off really well.
I thought she pulled it off perfectly. It's a lot easier to be southern than blind. I don't know. Not necessarily. I don't know.
It's easier. It's not necessarily better. I don't know. Pulling off believable accents sometimes is very different than just saying things. With an accent.
I don't think Leonardo DiCaprio can do it, and he's like an A-list actor. I think his accents are terrible. He's horrible. And Johnny Depp, I think, is also terrible at pulling off accents. Unless it's a drunk accent.
I don't even think that's very good. I'm not big on Johnny Depp anymore. No? Because he got old. Yeah, I'm not big on old.
You don't like him? It's not my problem with the way he looks or the fact that he's old. My problem is stupid Tim Burton. I don't know. Have you seen the way he looks now?
Yeah. Like for that new movie? He has gotten meaty. That's not good. He's got an.
Old man face. Some people like the movie. What is that? El Turista? Something like that.
El Turisto? Yeah. I watched other things. Oh, I watched the pilot episode of Kids in the Hall. Nice.
Which I love. I am crushing your head. I am crushing your head. I didn't see the new miniseries. Did anybody?
I've heard good things about it. They just came. Back and got everybody back together. Really? But they didn't want to rehash another skit show.
They didn't want to do another movie. So what they did was a miniseries, but it's its own separate... story almost but they've worked themselves in and i think even as multiple characters like they do so it's like they they found an entire new way to do what they do and it's like that sounds awesome i just. Love bruce so much i love everybody on that show yeah but uh and there's a couple movies i tried to watch like i tried to watch um who's afraid of virginia wolf never seen it And it has Elizabeth Taylor. And, like, there was just too much conflict. Back when she was hot?
No, when she was older. But there was just too much conflict in the movie. It stressed me out. It really did. I think that's the entire purpose of that movie.
I know. But it, like, stressed me out. Like, they were trying to make... It was like... I watched it to the point...
I don't know if there's more characters in the movie or not. But it's her and her husband, and they invite two young people over for dinner. And it's just like... Everyone's uncomfortable. It's just uncomfortable.
I'm like, I can't handle this. I can't handle it. That's why I can't watch The Office. It makes me uncomfortable. I watched a bunch of TV, of course.
I watched on Netflix. I watched the first episode of 30 Rock and I don't care what you say. I love Tracy Morgan. Tracy Morgan's awesome. He's so not funny.
I can't stand him. He's funnier when he's on drugs, I think. If he's sobered up, I don't know if he's that funny anymore. Tracy Morgan just does Tracy Morgan. There's no other setting for him.
He is Tracy Morgan. And if you find him funny, then you're okay. But there's no other acting involved. I don't think he's funny. Watching him on Scare Tactics, I hate that show in general.
Yeah. Except for the one with the little rat man. That is funny. But I usually hate that show. I hate shows like that in general.
I hate hidden camera shows. They've gotten horrible. Because you're afraid that that's going to happen to you one day? Totally, I am. When you see that little rat man, you're in trouble.
You're going to flip it. Little man, are you okay? You're going to flip out. That was terrible. That was awesome.
Little man. That show was awesome. Put hair all over a midget and mouse ears and stuff and a diaper and he comes out of the wall or whatever. That episode was awesome. But usually I hate those shows.
I hate, I can't stand it. Yeah. They're terrible. Oh, well, see, I asked people to suggest movies for me and then everyone's like, do your Netflix thing. Answer all those movie questions on Netflix.
And I did and it only requested, it requested about 20 pages of movies I've already seen. Suggested? Yeah. Suggested. Did it request movies that you were in?
It suggested 20 pages of movies I've already seen. But the weird thing is, I don't remember ever answering any questions about what kind of music I like. And it was suggesting, like, documentaries of, like... music bands and stuff that i like. Didn't greg say he thought it was tied to facebook it might be like it's like if you logged in both at some point it went in and found what music you like on facebook that you liked maybe and then yeah see i thought that was kind of scary yeah that's a little too big brothery that. Maybe but it was like suggesting like uh like x the unheard music which i already own anyway but yeah i just thought that was really weird.
But the internet knows way too much. About us yeah yeah Yeah, I thought that was extremely strange. What kind of movies were you looking for, in case anybody has any suggestions? Like a horror movie or a funny movie? Funny movies, you know what kind of movies I like.
I like John Waters and Wes Anderson and quirky comedies and things like that. I do love horror movies, but I live alone in a very scary house. So I cannot watch horror movies anymore, which sucks. I mean, I can watch them during the day with friends or go to a theater and watch them. That's why we have to work them in here.
This is your only fix. I know. I really can't watch horror movies at home. And Jeremiah suggested... I said that on Facebook and I was like, don't be funny and suggest any like porn titles.
And he suggested a movie called clean shaven. And I was like, yeah, no thanks. And apparently that's not a porn movie. Well, maybe that'll be a game. We'll find legitimate movie titles that sound like porn.
Yeah. It's about the porn. They've already done that. Yeah. Yeah.
But, uh, yeah, people had a lot of good suggestions, but it was again, movies that I've seen, you know, people suggesting let the right one in and, And one that a couple of people told me was Mirror Mask. And Netflix actually suggested that. And I have no idea what it's about, but I'll have to look into that. It's all right. Do you want a Jim Henson's last movie, I think?
Or no. Or his production studio, I think, did it. It's computer animation, puppetry, really cool. Interesting. Cat with human face.
Creepy. Yeah. Weird. Didn't he have a hand in Something Wicked This Way Comes? I think so.
I'd like to say. That was a good movie. It was a terrifying movie for when you're a child. It was about a carnival, which I love carnivals. Yay, carnivals!
I can't wait until every Sunday. I know, it's this week. Okay, that was all for my geek week, I think. All right. Yay, harvest time coming.
Yay. I'm going to eat so many corn dogs. We'll have to talk about that next week. Hopefully they have the bison chili. You probably will miss out, so you just don't get to talk about it.
See if I get mistook for a cop again. Who mistook you for a cop? I don't remember that. Fucking bunch of yo boys. Yo, man, that's a cop.
Look out. I'm a cop. Yeah, really? I'm wearing a jacket with an iron cross on it, and I'm a cop? And moon eyes.
And moon eyes patch. This guy goes, I'm a cop. It's a new wave of force that they're putting out. Idiots. God, how stupid are you?
Apparently really stupid. What's a cop, man? You're wearing blue. You must be a cop. Yeah.
Watch out. It's all it takes. You're a dude. You must be a cop. Gas station attendant, I can understand.
No. You didn't doodle like a gas station. I busted that. Yeah, but only like from the 50s. Will you pump my gas, please?
And I was like, I don't work here. She's like, oh. Or whenever you come in to wake me up when you leave for work, I'm always like, why has a gas attendant come in to give me a kiss goodnight? Do you just have shirts that have his name on them? I don't have any work uniforms anymore.
Goodnight, and can you check my oil? No. No check of the oil. Pop the hood. Oh, wow.
Wow. So is that the end of your geek week? Yeah. As far as seniors and Rogers, nobody has anything they've forgotten. I probably have.
You'll wait until the middle of Buzz. You'll be like, oh, yeah. In the middle of the movie. Yep. It'll happen.
It always does. I tried. Look, I forgot everything that I watched, so I looked it up and talked about it, but, you know, I'll probably... remember something else that I watched. But we're trying to redirect your crazy tangents. So I've decided last week we came up with a good idea.
You're going to duct tape my mouth shut. That is a good idea. But no, I was like, last week we came up with a good idea. I'm actually going to give you a Marlena moment. You can have your own segment.
That's too much pressure. Of crazy. Well, I'm saying when you think of one that you want to just go crazy with, hang on to it for a little while, and then we'll play your little theme. You can decide what your theme is if you want. This is going to guarantee that I never have a Marlena moment.
There you go. And either way, we've solved our problem. What you should have done is just not told her. I know. And then went ahead and took it out and edited it.
I would have never known. Into a more like a moment. But then it throws off the thing. So we're trying to give you a place for your craziness. There was no black.
Snake moan, no leg humping this week, no nothing. No, I didn't go out with any of my friends this week. Thank God. Oh, oh. Uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh.
It's coming, I can feel it. No, it's not that important. Save it for later. Okay. Come on, you know you want to tell us.
No, I don't really have anything. Make something up. I suppose with that, we will take a break and be back with What's in the Box. As I lie awake, resting from the. Day, I can hear the clock passing time away.
Oh, I couldn't. Sleep for on my mind was the image of the girl I. Hoped to find. It's intermission. Rise and stretch time.

Who do you think? Franken-berry's got strawberry-flavored marshmallows. Cult-truck-ula's got chocolate marshmallows. But I've got blueberry-flavored marshmallows. Franken-berry.
Cult-truck-ula. And Boo-berry. Sucky. This fall, you will be introduced to Palover.com. Palover.com is your new home for all your favorite podcasts, blogs, and your favorite internet personalities.
Palover.com. That's P-A-L-A-V-E-R dot com. Your first stop for all of your guilty pleasures. Hey, hey, come here, come here. This is Dan Roebuck, and I just want to tell you, you've got to listen to Movie Meltdown.
That's www.moviemeltdown.com. And if you don't know how to spell movie or meltdown, then you don't deserve to listen to it anyway. Oh, you've got to do the beat after me. A, B, C. Easy as 1, 2, 3.
I'll sing when I throw up with me. A, B, C. If all is said, that's how you fall. You shoot yourself. You shoot your drug You've got 24 hours You shoot up all in bits.
With your legs so we are back with what's the buzz tell me what's happening so it shouldn't really be any surprised anyone. That uh. This week they bothered to announce it anyway, though. This week they said that Christopher Nolan is going to direct the next Batman movie. Okay.
It was sort of in question. I mean, you can see why he has so much pressure built up. He would almost just leave it and be like, you know what? Fuck it. No more Batman.
Once you've got to the point where you get that huge and that successful and to a point where. there's no. Way he can like surpass that you know I would be impressed if he does but I mean there's gotta be so much pressure on him at this point to yeah follow up what was a game changing movie for like the entire industry really so yeah it's got a lot for him to deal with so I'm kinda surprised that he's okay with that and he's willing to saddle down any words on the new villain the yeah kinda nothing official but uh yeah I heard somewhere They're still throwing out the Riddler. Okay. As long as it's not Jim Carrey. The Penguin?
Tell me about it. So there is a script at this point written by his brother, Jonathan, which, again, is impressive because he's also an amazing writer. So it's good that they've still got everybody involved. That it is talented and brought us the stuff that made the most awesome movie. I want the villain to be the Penguin, and I want it to be played by Danny DeVito.
I think we've seen that movie. I know. But I want it to happen again. But I'll give you, like, that I think was, like, awesome casting. Oh, yeah.
That's the movie that, like, that's the defining movie in that old series. It's, like, everybody likes the first movie. You know, if you ask somebody which of the Batmans you like and they like Batman Returns, you know, because that's the one that sort of separated everybody. It's, like, the hardcore geeks are still, like, you know what? There's a lot of cool stuff in this.
But regular people went. this movie's weird. I don't like this. Which one had the bat nipples? Because I didn't like. That was the third one.
See, and by that one, nobody cared anymore. They had totally jumped the shark by bat nipples. Everybody was done with them. I saw whichever... The third or the fourth one.
Which one had Val Kilmer? Val Kilmer is the third one. The third one. They changed the outfits in the third one, and by the fourth one, they brought in. Clooney.
Girl. Packages. The one with Alicia Silverstone and George Clooney, that was at my gym last week, and it was so fucking terrible. It's terrible. Like, I.
I had to put headphones in. They were shown on Cartoon Network the other night. It was just so, like, the jokes were terrible. It's terrible. Everything, everything.
Yeah, I mean, it so turned a corner. I mean, as cheesy as the first two, I mean, they certainly have their moments, but they're still, like, impressive and fun to watch and visually amazing, and then those Schumacher ones were just such a mess, and that's not news to. Anybody, but, I mean, it is amazing. How far off the mark they ended up from like that first movie. It's yeah they play the most random movies in my gym they were playing a jet lee movie on monday and then yesterday they were playing where the wild things are and at one point they played this weird movie that had alec baldwin and i don't know what the movie was but there was like this character in it called the shadow what movie is that.
The shadow No. Okay. I don't know. I've never seen it. It's got its issues, too.
Yeah. But it's watchable. So the new one's not supposed to be the Riddler of the game when. You cast it? They're throwing that out there.
I want it to be Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Don't you want Suck and Blow to be the Riddler? I want Joseph Gordon-Levitt to be in every movie. I know he's... Nolan does like him.
I mean, he was in the last movie, so it wouldn't surprise me. I have heard people throwing that around. Again, the only problem is he looks like he's 12. I don't care. So what they're saying is nothing official yet.
Would he wear the spandex? Because I would totally be in it. I bet you would. That. Just in reports, they're talking to Edward Norton, and he has said that he would like to work with Christopher Nolan.
That is the Riddler. Again, they asked him if he would want to play a villain, or specifically the Riddler, and he actually said he was up for either of those. He would come on board. Matthew McConaughey. Oh, God.
All right, all right. I got a riddle for you. Are you guys going to be shirtless the entire movie? Playing Hong Kong? Oh, my God.
The riddle is, how does he still have a career? Yeah, right? It's his abs. That's where the career lies. He's a romantic comedy go-to guy.
Yeah, I know. That doesn't save him for me. No. I used to love me some Matthew McConaughey. I love the wedding planner.
I don't care what you all say. That's more tolerable than a lot of romantic comedies that have come since then. It still was. anyway failure to. Launch yeah those I don't watch a guy in ten. Days those are the ones I can't even watch I'm just like.
He loves to do movies with Goldie Hawn's. Daughter yeah kind of why she's horrible I. Don't know she's cute no she's not I think she's cute but I mean don't you hate her who is it Kate Hudson Kate Hudson fuck that bitch die die die I think she's cute I like Goldie Hawn's son Oliver Hudson he's adorable too I like Kurt Russell. I like Kurt Russell too. Are they still together?
Five years. Know. I like Kurt Russell. They won't be anymore. Watch.
Yeah, way to go. We mentioned it. All you have to do is say it. Kills it. Who is it that happened to?
Like Susan Sarandon and what's his face? Tim Robbins? We mentioned it, and then it was like. We've been together forever. And I saw it on the news the next day.
I'm like, God damn it. Way to blow it for her. We killed her. We killed her love. With a new segment, Celebrity Loves We've Killed.
Nice. Yep. We can do that. All right. Was there more buzz?
Are we still on that one? I don't know. I just think it's amazing to me how... I mean, there's not really a whole lot more news there. It's just the fact that... how fast you can become a huge power player in Hollywood.
Because seriously, Christopher Nolan has made a handful of movies. You go from nothing to the top. Yeah, by the time they gave him Batman Begins, people were like, who? Nobody knew who that was when he got that one. And then in this span of time, like now... he is it like he is one of the most powerful people in Hollywood to the fact that they're giving him other franchises they're like okay you don't have to direct it just make sure Superman doesn't suck okay you're gonna you're gonna be the godfather of all our movie projects now and I'm like Six, eight years ago, nobody knew who that guy was, and now they're just handing him projects to be like.
Can he erase the suck of the last Superman movie? Possibly, if you go back and re-edit it and take that dude out. Yeah, I'm gonna pretend that that one doesn't exist. I think everybody went along with that. God, I was telling you.
I don't like that guy's face. No, I don't like him. Brandon Ralph? I'm not a fan of him. Yeah, I'm just not sold on him, but...
I don't know. I just think that's kind of amazing how quick it's gone from zero to, you know, being in charge of Hollywood basically for Christopher Nolan. Oh, you make enough money for Hollywood. They definitely do love you. Yeah.
And love you for that. And give you free reign. I mean, that's the only way some of these kind of movies get made a lot of times is like, okay, you make us a $ 200 million movie and we'll let you make this, you know, $ 40 million movie that has nothing to do with anything we care about. And then you have to make us another $ 200 million movie. Yeah.
Yeah. Who knows? I still can't believe you don't like Nathan Fillion. Did you guys already talk about Star Wars getting re-released in 3D? I think we did a while ago.
I saw it was... Yeah, they brought it up again today. I think it was just, like, confirmed. But I think when they were talking. Yeah, I saw it.
I was like, yeah. Way to go, Lucas. Gotta need more money. So they're doing it? And no one is dumbass.
I'll probably go see it, too. See, that's the thing. Not the first one. That's the thing. I would go see, like, the last three.
Well, yeah, the last three. But you gotta understand. For me, and maybe for a lot of other older Star Wars fans, I never refer to the actual first three as the actual first three. Yeah, I don't either. They're the last three that really sucked.
Yeah, to me, it's always like the first ones is what I refer to when I'm talking about the ones from the 70s and 80s. People are like, episode one? I'm like, fuck episode one. No, I'm talking about Empire Strikes Back. I'm talking about Star Wars, and I'm talking about Return of the Jedi.
Yeah. Not talking about the other three that came out. I don't want to see Jar Jar in three. Nobody does. Are they going to release all six of them?
See, they are. They're going to put them back in. And the stupid thing is. They're starting, I guess, in chronological order. They're going with episode one first.
I'm like, well, you're going to get zero right off the bat. That movie's going to make nothing at the box office. My sister likes that movie. She loved Jar Jar. There's $ 10.
She can go see it. Your sister's nuts. Is that the old one? She doesn't listen to this show. He thinks my sister Jennifer is older than me.
She looks like it. What, is she like 50 now? No. How come she keeps having these kids if she's 50? How old is she?
She's like three years younger than me. Oh, wow. She doesn't look it. She look older or younger? Older.
Wow. See, it's not just me. Maybe those kids aged her. That's what I'm telling you, kids make you old. Having kids make you old.
I don't know what happened. I guess mine didn't do that to me. Okay. Why? Damn, she said you're old.
Yeah, whatever. Mentally, you're still a child. That makes it okay. You can't see the gray hair under the hat. Yeah.
I gotta dye it again. You do. So I look young, damn it. I'm still young. All right, so we return to this trend every couple of weeks.
So no surprise that the Alien Invasion movie has become the big thing that they're working on now. So in the next few years, it's going to hit theaters, and all of them are going to be there. So starting with next month's Skyline, as well as Battle... I'd like some chili. But you don't like Skyline.
I'm hungry. I don't like Skyline. We're not sponsored by Skyline because you'll say bad things about them. They suck, dude. Their chili's all watery and nasty and there's so much spaghetti.
They're pretty gross. And the restaurant's just dirty. I think that you've got to have a special taste for Skyline. Apparently, none of us here have it. I don't know if I've ever eaten Skyline.
You're not missing anything. Their buffalo chicken wraps are good. Ew, I want a buffalo chicken wrap. Skyline the movie looks good, though. Skyline the movie.
And the other one that I showed you the trailer. Followed by Battle Los Angeles. And oddly enough, the Battleship movie. Not to mention Cowboys and Aliens. So they're all coming out soon.
Now Sam Raimi has decided to throw his hat in the ring. Is he ever going to be in it? Hopefully. And Ted, is Ted Raimi going to be in it? He's in everything.
So as producer, they say not director... Who knows? You know, he could change his mind any moment. But he is in talks with Warner Brothers for an alien invasion movie of his own, tentatively titled EDF, which hopefully he'll change that. But just go with what it stands for, Earth Defense Force.
Nice. Now that I would go see. EDF is stupid. So, yeah, just make it Earth Defense Force. The script has already been leaked, and the premise starts off with U.S. and Chinese fighter pilots engaged in a dogfight when they are attacked by three alien ships and then go on to destroy various global landmarks, of course, like every one of these movies, and military installations.
NASA soon discovers signs of a much larger invasion coming from another galaxy in 10 months. Forcing the governments of the world to band together to fend off the incoming invasion. Nice. See, now that's kind of. I thought for years, like, they really needed to do a movie like that where we're so busy squabbling with ourselves that, like, the only thing that could unify the planet is that we're going to get wiped out by someone from the outside.
That's the thing I don't always understand is why do the aliens always have to, like, attack the Statue of Liberty or the Eiffel Tower or. It doesn't make sense, really. Because really, when you think about it, that doesn't mean shit to aliens. And it's not useful. It's not useful.
It's not water. It's not electrical. It's not military. I mean, the only thing it would do is be an attack on our morale. But once again, I understand that with terrorists.
Like somebody within our system that understands that. Aliens could give a rat's ass about the Statue of Liberty. They're just here to take our planet. Let's go bomb that big pointy thing. Well, I think it...
Maybe they want to... They kind of compare terrorists and aliens. They kind of make it similar. Oh, you're talking bad about aliens now? Yeah.
We're going to get busted for that. We're going to get hate mail. Holy shit. Hate mail from space. Yes.
But, I mean, if aliens had been watching our planet... They would know. So that's probably why they're so scared to come down here. You know, they're here and they're watching our channels and they're going, damn, man, if we even show up, they're going to shoot us because they think we're like really bad people when they're actually kind of cool, you know? I'm thinking space aliens are kind of cool.
We can blame it all on Independence Day. It's fucked it all up. How dare you. Come on, like War of the Worlds and stuff like that. They're going, man, these guys.
Even if we show up and go, hey, we come in peace, they're going to blow us away. They hate us. It's not always bad aliens. E.T. Was a good alien.
Yeah, he was a good alien. Yeah, but even then, we attacked him as soon as he had to run. For his life the entire movie. All they want to do is cut us open, you know? They want to blow us up or cut us open.
That's all they want to do. Mac and me. Mac was a good alien. Alf? I mean, Jesus.
No, he was bad, sort of. I was watching this TV show today, and the guy on it looked just like Alf. I had a friend in high school who looked just like Alf. So did I. Her name was Megan.
Ouch. Ouch. Megan had a hard road to hoe. Who are you? At least mine was a dude.
Yikes. Wow. Not really related, but he writes a bunch of stuff. You know, there's this author. My boss gave me a bunch of his books once.
Ailey Martinez, the first one, is Gil's All Fright Diner that I read. And then he has one called In the Company of Ogres. Why aren't those made into movies? The first one they're making into a movie. Are they?
Yeah. Good. I think you missed that episode. You slept through that episode. Probably.
No, it was a while ago. I do remember doing a whole story on that. Good, because I fucking love those books. They're amazing. You'd like them, Misty.
I would. I'll have to find them and let you borrow them. Yay! I only have the first two because this has been a long time. Are there pictures?
Because I like books with pictures. There's no pictures, but they're funny. It's about, like, a werewolf and a vampire, and they're, like, truckers. That would be pretty funny. That's kind of funny.
Awesome. The odd couple. The premise of it sounds good. I just hope they don't screw it up. It's like Goosebumps for Adults.
Dude, this is amazing. Did you hear they're redoing the Munsters? They're updating the Munsters. They're going to have a new TV series. Oh, I thought you were talking about the movie.
Because for a while, I think it fell through. They're going to have a TV show now. It's been approved now. It's actually going through. Who's in charge of it?
I don't know. I didn't hear that much. It was a very brief article. Tim Burton. No, even worse.
When it was tentatively a new movie that they were going to do, it. Was bought out. Worse, it was bought out by the Waynes Brothers. Oh, no. What?
They were going to make it like White Chicks Munster. Style or something. I think they're actually going to redo the TV show, and they're actually going to have characters, but it's supposed to be a little bit darker. kind of like some of the TV shows they have going on now that are. See, I mean, I. Like the gates or something that's like a modern-day vampire thing?
Yeah, yeah. I love the monster, so I kind of don't want him to touch it. But at the same time, I mean. Well, the article I read didn't have the Wayans mentioned at all. So I don't know.
See, if there's no Wayans, we're okay, maybe. I did love the Wayans show, though, when I was younger. Oh, my God, I love that show. Oh, I don't know if we can talk anymore. I was insulted by that show.
I was like 10, okay? I had no taste. Obviously. In Loving Color, it was a great show. The Wayans Brothers show was terrible.
I liked the Pretty Wayans. Which one was the Pretty Wayans? Damon, the bald-headed one? No, the Pretty Wayans. SW1.
SW1, but he's the one that's horrible. He's the one involved in everything that sucks. But he's the Pretty Wayans. Yeah, him and Marlon need to stop making jokes. Marlon is not the Pretty Wayans.
Damon was at least handsome, you know, if you like bald-headed dudes. I don't like bald-headed dudes. Well, I didn't say you had to hook up with them. Except Michael Rosenbaum when he's bald. All right.
Speaking of scary dudes. Okay. Speaking of bald dudes? Speaking of guys with crazy hair, how about that? Okay.
Mick Foley. Hmm. Hmm. I can read the whole story, but who cares? Do we need a Mick Foley biopic?
That's what they're saying. They're talking about... We need Mankind. Yeah, Mankind. I used to watch me some wrestling.
I know that one. See, that's what I'm saying. I love me some Shawn Michaels. I don't know. There's probably a market for it.
Oh, there is. All the crazy-ass WCW people. I didn't know who Mick Foley was. When are they going to start making NASCAR biopics? There's the Dale.
There was already a Dale Earnhardt one with... What's his name? Barry Pepper? Yeah. Oh, God.
That's actually not bad. Isn't that his name, Barry? Yeah, but he seems like he would be driving a NASCAR, actually. No offense to Barry, but. I would.
Watch me a Richard Petty NASCAR. Would you now? I like me some Richard Petty. He wore a cool hat. He did wear a cool hat.
He reminded me of the Crocodile Hunter, but behind a NASCAR. But driving. And then there's a. Gator in the other car crashing into him. That'd be so cool.
I love alligators. Oh, God. So, yeah, Nick Foley has written several books, some novels, which is kind of frightening, children's books, really frightening, and four memoirs. Nice. Who needs four memoirs?
I know. I mean, shouldn't you be able to wrap it up? Maybe he forgot some stuff in the first book. Maybe. Wait, stuff I forgot.
Yeah. So he is teaming up with producer Jeff Katz for a biopic based on. His life story. Nobody cares. Again, no, there is a.
Market for it out there. I don't need a Mick Foley movie, but you know what? They'll probably make a ton of money on that. When's the Ric Flair biopic coming out? That'd be kind of interesting.
When's the Macho Man Randy Savage movie? When's the Andre the Giant? I would watch the Andre the Giant. Now that I would. See, that's, I mean, at least, it's weird.
You gotta find a guy to play Andre the Giant. Where the hell are you gonna find a guy to play Andre the Giant? They'd have to CG it. Norwegian. You know, you just surround a normal-sized guy with a bunch of, like, shits.
That made Hagrid look big. Yeah, or, like, The Hobbit, you know. Camera trickery. Stand on the box. Just cast, like, Tom Cruise.
And Danny Trejo, and all. These short actors. Yeah. Oh, wow. That could be interesting.
I don't know if it would be good, but it'd be interesting. Oh, God. Wow. So, yeah, I'm sure there's a market for it out there. I was implying that Tom Cruise is short.
It's okay. You can make fun of Tom Cruise. Nobody has a problem when you make fun of Tom Cruise. Nobody cares because he's a little fucking psycho. Henry Rollins.
Hey, I like Henry. Yeah, Henry's awesome. He's short. Oh, man, what else? Okay, so, yeah, once again, this is another one we return to every week because Hollywood only has, like, five ideas and they just keep pulling from the same little group of things here.
Oh, shit. No, the fairy tales thing. The latest project is called Snow White and the Huntsman, a live-action retelling of the Grimm's fairy tale with, as the title suggests, a feature, well, it enhances the role of the huntsman. Didn't he teach her how to fight and survive? Not to be confused with the romantic lead.
Prince Charming will probably still be there in some form. It'll be Zac Efron. The Huntsman will start the film as he's being ordered to kill Snow White in the woods, as it is in the Disney movie, too. He's captivated by her beauty. Instead, he ends up chained to Snow White on the run and teaching her how to survive.
So it's like snow white in the defiant ones. Yeah. Sounds boring. It's one of those. They already did this.
It was a movie with Sigourney. I know they keep pulling from this same thing. I don't understand why they keep pulling from the same little group of things, but it's the same thing I said before. If they can do it in a different way, like this at least is different. It's not just retelling the exact same story about snow white.
It's, taking a different spin on it and going in an entirely different direction. Again, I don't know that it's going to be good, but if they could find a way to tell some other story and make it, I don't know, something. Change is no white. That should be kind of hot. No, it's the same story.
Yeah, so that's the problem. So it's going to be one of those movies. I think so, actually. Wow. Like secretary, but Snow White.
Snow White and chains. I did rent that one time. Like Alice in Chains? No. But Snow White and chains?
No. Oh, God. So let's escape from that. From the chains? From the chains.
From the chains. Shackles. To one that's even more shackling. You know what? You love it.
It's time for the remake of the week. Oh, no. I've said it before. I'm sure I will say it again and again in weeks to come, but you don't touch Hitchcock. It's a no-win situation.
Don't do it. What, the birds? No, they're still talking about doing a remake of the birds. Psycho? It was called Disturbia there.
The lawsuit's still pending. Yeah, right. So, no, the latest project, yeah. I like the way they word it. The latest project bears the atrocious title, and I agree, of Teens on a Train...
What? Yes. Is it Strangers on a Train? Remake of the 1951 Strangers on a Train. And yeah, like the source material, Teens on a Train will be about strangers that meet up on a train and agree to murder someone for each other.
Where this version will depart is that, besides the obvious ways of teenagers. And the suck factor. And the extra suck factor is that one of the two people will. Be a girl who is also raving mad. What?
Why do we care? I don't care. Oh, my God. I mean, like, what sane person, like, meets someone on a train and is like, oh, yeah, I'll totally kill that person for you. You're just going to kill this person.
Who's not fucking raving mad anyway who's going to do that? What are you talking about? I would totally agree to that. But that's not really clearing a point. And I hate to tell them, but once again, talking about remaking something and doing it in an entirely different way, they did do a remake of this, and it was successful.
It's called Throw Mama from the Train. And if you like comedies, once again, taking an entire different direction. It's basically that plot. Throw Mama from the Train was awesome. Yeah, it's that plot.
Just the name alone, Teens on a Train, you know it's going to suck. Because it's going to be a fucking Justin Guarini fucking. Tragedy. Wow. Way to pull that out of it.
He's been ranting about Justin Guarini for the past week. I don't know what the deal is. Where did that come from? Because every time we turn on the goddamn TV, he's fucking on the whatever that damn preview channel. Why can't I just see what the hell's on TV without having to see him?
At least he cut his hair off. At least, but still, they got the. Most annoying fucking. He has a nose like a hawk, like a hawk beak. They got the most annoying just...
Flaccid, non-personality, just one-dimensional. How do you know he's flaccid? On the preview channel. These people are just, oh, jeez, God. I don't think I've ever watched the preview channel.
But sometimes you have to because they scroll so fucking slow. All I want to know is what's coming on channel. You can't fast forward it? No, we don't have that. No, it's not.
It's just the channel. Yeah, fuck that channel. I got the cheap channel. Goddamn. Yeah, I don't have that.
No, you're very patient to even sit through that. There's no way I could. Especially if this guy. Was on it. That's why I love Ugly Betty so much now.
She's on there from five to seven, so I just end up sucking into it. They stick shows on it and they know nobody else will watch. I love Eric Mabeus. He's alright anyways I was just saying it's gonna turn into some kind of. To me this just a big joke because most of the people that are gonna go see this movie have no clue about you know, the original Hitchcock movie.
They're just going to go see it and they're going to be like, oh, that's teens on a train. Let's go get popcorn and talk about acne. You know, it's just fucking stupid shit. I don't know. It sounds like Hitchcock UPN style.
It's just going to be like. It's been a long time since you've been a teenager. I was never a teenager. You skipped that part? I skipped that entire.
You were born an old man. Time Yeah, I was. I think I kind of was, too. Oh, me too. I was also born an old man.
Were you born an old man? I was born a poor black child. You've gone through many changes in your time. Nice. So, yeah, the only saving grace for us is that it's done by creator of the TV, the UK TV series Material Girl, and they're producing it in the UK, so it may actually make sense.
Get released in the US. Actually, they may save it because sometimes some of the UK stuff's pretty funny. That's what I'm thinking. I mean, that actually, no joke, that might be the most useful thing in this story is the fact that it's not going to be like producers that are working for the WB or whatever the hell that shit is. That's what I was expecting to hear.
A gossip girl on a train. Yeah. That's what it sounded like. Yeah, it's going to be a high school musical. That's right.
I'm going to kill you now. Singing and dancing. We'll have to find that episode or that skit from Saturday Night Live that Zac Efron was on. He was making fun of High School Musical. It was so funny.
I don't care. I like Zac Efron. He's so pretty. No, this made it really funny. Like, it was hilarious.
The jury's still out on him. I haven't seen enough of him to make up my mind. He might have a decent sense of humor about himself. He was on an episode of Firefly, so he's won me over. I know.
So, yeah, I don't know. That's just, it could be a train wreck. Who's got a Firefly? Told you this a dozen times. I've heard it like six times.
Even Roger. The young doctor. I want to have a flashback to when the doctor and River are kids. That was like a two minute scene. Oh, well, yeah, so whatever.
It redeemed him to me. And I've never seen High School Musical, so I don't fucking care. All right, to get away from the buzz, I did want to throw in an interview because I promised you a couple weeks ago to finish this one out. We sat there with William Ragsdale a few weeks back, but we didn't get to Amanda. This week, we get to Amanda Burse.
Is that how you pronounce it? Marcy Darcy. That's the thing. I think I was saying it wrong for years. When you hear her pronounce it, it's Burse.
Burse. That's how I always said it, how we've been saying it. I think a lot of people say Beers. I say Beers. I always said Beers.
Again, I don't think I'd heard it pronounced. I just always seen it. On the screen. You should just call her Marcy Darcy. Yeah, I know.
At this point, we all kind of call her Marcy Darcy because that's a fun thing to say. So, yeah. She was great on that show. I love Nathan Ryan. She's great in general.
And the thing that was really awesome, and this is one that, you know, it's one of those you don't get unless you actually meet the person. You're actually there, so it was kind of cool to be there, was watching her interacting with William Ragsdale. Did she age as well as William Ragsdale? I think she did. I think she looks pretty damn good, I have to say.
I didn't get that close, so I couldn't tell. I think she looks good. But, yeah, the fact that they're sitting there and... They're kind of really playful. And I was like, well, these two were hanging out together when they were teenagers.
It's like the way that they knew each other was as teenagers. So it's funny that they revisit that now because I don't think she'd done anything before. She hadn't really done. Shows before this last couple of years was the first time she'd been back involved with all the Fright Night people. So it was kind of funny to watch them together because I think. they just sort of fell back into that and they're, they're being really funny with each other and kind of, kind of playful.
And she's like, as he's, as he's getting interviewed, she's over there messing with him and like pretending to use her. She had like a piece of paper rolled up into a tube and that was her camera. And she was directing, basically, being ever the director these days. So, yeah, she was trying to direct the segment, and it was focusing in on things. And he was just like, what the hell are you doing over there?
So it's kind of funny watching them interact before we actually got into the interview. But then it picks up there, and you'll get to hear what else she's been up to. But, yep, Amanda is pretty awesome. So I know Eskimo is excited to hear the rest of it. So this is Amanda.
Yeah, you're not directing right now, Anna. Is that how you look at people? That's how she operates. Hi, I'm a man. I'm a director.
Oh. Yeah. What are they doing this? Yeah, yeah. You can make a great movie about the inside of your bathroom.
Because of the TP. Or your kitchen. Oh, good. Track with me. Widen out.
Oh, my. That's how you know she's a professional right there. If you're ready. I'm ready. Now it's time for the revenge.
Ready as I'm going to be. We're here with Amanda. I wanted to see, did you plan on getting into performing early on? Yes. I was a precocious child, to say the least.
If William Ragsdale could hush, bring it down over there, then I might be able to. Actually, I did theater all my life. So I pretty much did always want to be an actor. There was a period of time where I thought it wasn't a very practical way to earn a living. And then I got over that and just decided to go for it.
And so there you have it. And I was an actor for many years. I've now been behind the camera, you know, for many years. I was going to say, early on you got into projects that a lot of up-and-coming actresses do. You did a sex comedy.
You did a horror movie. I kept my clothes on in fraternity vacation. That's right. But it's one of those you, I think, were smart enough to not go down the wrong road. But I guess, you know, Coming from that point, can you see, you know, at that point in your life, the perspective of those pitfalls that young actresses fall into?
Well, I guess they weren't asking me to take my clothes off either, frankly. But when I took my top down for Fright Night, when Chris Sarandon's character bit me on the neck, I had duct tape all over my breasts. So that was attractive. The good look. You know, a lot of women feel differently about their bodies and their self-images.
It's their right to do what they choose to do. I don't think it's necessary to have a career. You can have a career and keep your clothes on. Just saying. I was going to say, even the lifestyle as it gets.
I mean, could a young Amanda, gone wrong, turn up like Lindsay Lohan? No, I mean, any of us could have fallen. victim, prey, whatever, just made bad choices and not been able to get ourselves out of those bad choices. Celebrity is a very different world now than it was when I was a young actor. We're talking almost 30 years. And the industry has changed.
Everybody knows every detail about everybody's lives because. Of the Internet. And I'm not sure I would have been able to survive because I never really was comfortable with that aspect of the industry. I wanted to just work. But it's a necessary evil now, and you can get into trouble, no doubt about it.
Very easily. Or people can make trouble for you also. Yeah, and that's people's jobs. And there's nothing you can do about it, unfortunately. And then just getting into Mary Booth Children, because I was a big fan of that over the.
Years as well. Yay. Marcy was in for quite a ride over the run of the series, was she not? Well, we all kind of. We all started out as human beings, but then I think we sort of ended up almost like the Simpsons.
That we became... It was. Like a live-action cartoon. And, you know, Al Bundy's character was definitely like the Wile E. Coyote of the Roadrunner cartoons, that, you know, in one scene he'd fall off a roof and be.
You'd think dead. And then he's around in the next scene with, like, a Band-Aid on his finger. So it was just... Silly and. Fun and never anything but a vehicle to make people laugh.
And then from that, was that your entry into directing? Absolutely. Was that one of the first ones you did? Absolutely. They gave me my second career, Ron Levin and Michael Moy, the executive producers of Married with Children.
I negotiated to direct in the sixth season, and I did six years of the show. Well, let's see. It's kind of kooky. Five seasons we were 11 seasons in 10 years so i don't know five or six yeah somewhere in there i directed a whole lot of episodes let me just say that half of the run was all you uh yeah a good many of them yeah which is impressive thank you quite an undertaking well and then on our weeks off because you know you have to get scripts ready on any series so we would usually do three shows in a row and then we'd be down a week and three shows and down so on those weeks off I'd be off directing other episodes of different shows because I knew Married With Children would eventually end. And I wanted people to take me seriously as a director.
And they would say, well, can she do anything besides Married With Children? And, yep. If I could, and that's why I stay behind the camera, because that's really where the momentum was for me, and I've loved it, though these many years later. There were points when she would go off and be gone from the storyline for a little while, and I always assumed it was directing duties at that point. Sometimes.
Initially, I didn't contract for all shows produced, so there were a few episodes where I just wasn't written in. The first episode I directed, where Al got glasses. It was titled If I Could See Me Now. They purposefully wrote me out so that I could just do one job. But I actually had a great time because we shoot live in front of a studio audience.
So it's like doing a play, and I'm running up and down in wardrobe and makeup, in and out of scenes between the booth where I direct and the stage where I was acting, and that was a hoot and a half. It really was a lot of fun. That's a lot to deal with. It was a very different approach to a sitcom. Do you feel like you come at projects with a different approach as a director?
Well, it's old school, and it has, again, a place. in my heart because I grew up in television as a TV kid, not as a professional. But, you know, I've always loved TV. It's been a big part of my life and memories as a child that shows that I'd watch. With my mom or my family. And so being in that industry for almost 30 years, it's pretty cool. um marywood children came out of norman lear's company which is very old school um half hour programming i still love it today there are not many shows done that way um it's a it's a nice down and dirty cheap way to do it but not much is shot on digibeta anymore um but uh i still love directing multi-camera i've i've gone from doing half hours to doing a lot of sketch comedy um i worked you know in and around mad tv for many years and So it's been a medium that has served me.
Well, and I'm very lucky. Have you been watching Modern Family? Yes, it's funny. Ed's great. He's a very talented actor.
It's a very funny show. When are you going to direct it? I don't think I'll be over there. That's a very thoughtful question of you. No, I don't really think.
I don't live in Los Angeles. I sort of left the business about 10 years ago. I still work here and there. But it's actually following a style of directing that they go to certain people to do. And mine is more an in-studio, multi-camera style.
I would love to have the opportunity to do more single camera, but I'm not there. It's a very different style. It is. It is. Any new projects you're working on?
No, the show I just finished doing for Logo, three-year run, a. Sketch comedy show much like Mad TV called The Big Gay Sketch Show. It did not get a four-season pickup, but we had three good years, and I was proud to be a part of that network because never in my lifetime did I think there would ever be a gay network on TV. So in a way, I got to make. History a couple of times once with Fox and kind of starting up that network on that little Mary with Children show and then being a part of Logo.
So I'm currently writing on projects, developing projects, and getting my kid through high school. And then who knows? I'll be out and about and beware. Back in action. Yes.
Thank you very much thank you for talking. To us that's how we should go i do have a thing for that theme song one of the best written theme songs. I've ever heard again uh that is stewart copeland i believe he who has done a lot of film scores and is actually you know other than his rock and roll days uh he's become kind of well respected in the uh In the music industry, and he wrote the Amanda Show theme song. Amanda, Amanda, Amanda, Amanda, Amanda Show. So that having been said, hey, maybe we'll go out with that.
