About this episode

Attack of the Killer Soundtrack - Episode 27 This week we welcome our special guest co-host Dr. Gangrene to be our DJ of heavy metal horror movies. We let the Doctor run wild as we assemble our own epic soundtrack built from the metal-themed movies that ruled the 80's! And as we discuss the "Satanic Panic" that took hold of the country, we also mention... the greatest WTF ending, a three-dimensional VHS cover, you've gotta see the zombie march, swatting a fly, which brings them back... to battle Hitler and his minions, VH1, a rocker that comes back from the dead to get revenge on the people who did him wrong, congress brought rock and rollers in there, wizards, Never Sleep Again, singing lyrics from the book, it was a magical thing, Metal Mania, this movie's nuts, guitar punk, a werewolf, skateboarding, a love story aliens invading zombies... it's got it all, like bumpy, that whole time period and everything that was going on, this movie's got it all, a band of demons... trying to steal the souls of the kids in the town, while this is going on there's a subplot of a slasher going around killing people, I've met Thor, I know Thor... I'm friends with Thor, garagey and trashy, once we were done with heavy metal it's like other cultures picked it up and started doing their own thing with it, in a functioning video store, smart-assed comments, Eva Braun, because the 80's was... the 80's, It's in the songs... it's in the movie, Splatter, that's the way to ring in the new year, playing a cassette tape and then this band comes along... and then demons.  "I think we've gotta start with... what I call the Citizen Kane of heavy metal horror movies." Guess who? It's 10 o'clock. Do you care where your parents are? The following feature has been rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America. It is intended for mature audiences and parental discretion is advised.

Defense Corps forces reported just moments ago. This is not a drill. Repeat, this is not the drill. At this time, we are requesting the immediate and orderly evacuation of the vicinity. The Coast Guard and the Navy have been alerted and are standing by on Eastern Sea.

It continues to burn out of control. It has been regular. Every five to ten minutes, there has been another convoy of units, fire companies, paramedics. A citywide emergency has been declared. Police officers are still on tactical full alert.

2,000 National Guardsmen are standing by. Air defense warning read. It's time for Movie Meltdown's Attack of the Killers soundtrack. The live transmission has begun, and we're into the final hour of hell. What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown's Attack of the Killers soundtrack.

I am Brian and we are coming to you live via digital recording from Wonderfest. And with me this week is Dr. Gangrene. And who else is coming along? It's Misty.

Misty has decided to tag along even though she says she's going to have nothing to say but smartass comments. Which I said, how is that different than any other episode? So last year we were hanging out here and we were discussing horror movies and the like. And I remembered you having a thing for music in general, but probably a specific area, I guess we'll say. Right on.

Yeah, we were talking about movies and we were talking about horror movies and heavy metal horror movies, which is kind of like an obsession of mine. So once hearing that, it was like, well, I was wanting to do sort of a themed metal thing. since there's so many weird tie-ins anyway I thought we would do a episode that was a soundtrack themed episode. Of metal music and if I if I'll take one to kick it off and mostly I kind of want to see what your response to this is because to me my go-to in it's. We were discussing this on a recent episode Misty um I'm a little more hair bandy oh. Yeah me too totally and then so my my initial reaction and truthfully I'm surprised I have not played it on this show before.

Is Dream Warriors. Oh, yeah. So if I get a pick, I want to kick things off with Dream Warriors. Oh, yeah. That's great.

Docking. You've got to love Dream Warriors. I love you. I'm standing in the night alone Forever Together We're gonna dream for you Don't wanna dream no more We're gonna dream for you And maybe tonight Maybe tonight I hear the voices calling out Calling my name It's the same desire To feel the fire That's coming your way I'm standing in the night alone Forever Together Wait for the spell of illusion bound together. Waiting for you, dream warriors.

Don't want to dream no more. With the dream warriors. Maybe tonight you'll be gone. We need a life to be known. We want it all.

I was obsessed with Dokken in the 80s, too, because they were one of those, you know, which you look back on it now, and I know the band, they kind of, I think Don and the guys, they realized some of it was pretty schlocky, but damn, I loved it, you know? I mean, I thought they wrote pretty good stuff. George, I've heard not great things about him personally, but he was a hell of a guitarist. Like, everything else about the band was pretty impressive. For sure.

I think they're one of those guys, maybe... Is there two versions of Doc and Turing? You know how some of the bands, there's like two versions of them? I thought they came back together because I thought it was really sad when I thought they took the dude's name away. It's one thing when the band splits up and you can't use the name anymore, but when it was his last name, like, sorry, you can't call yourself a name.

So he had to tour as his own solo Don version. But then Lynch Mob became its own separate thing and was touring for a while because I actually saw them at one point. They were, again, pretty impressive with a totally different singer, obviously. But then I thought in the last 10 years, they at least got back together and did a reunion tour, put another album out. Now, I don't know if since then they have decided to break up again.

Yeah. I've heard there are many personal problems in that band. But to me, that's almost like that's sort of the jump the shark moment for them in general. Like, I don't think it got any better than them on Dream Warriors. Like, it is so like.

They're kind of at the top of their game musically. They had a couple albums sort of get rolling on. That's probably the most money they ever threw at them was that album was right around that time. They got the most money to produce whatever the hell they wanted. And it's to me, it works so well within that story because these kids are the kind of dorks that would be listening to Dawkins.

So it's like it all kind of tied. Together perfectly in that movie. I also was obviously a geek because I bought it on single. How far back are we going there? Well, I think it's cool.

It's a neat chapter in the band's history to be able to say that you did a song for a movie, you know, for a franchise as iconic as the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. I watched that documentary about the Nightmare... Never Sleep Again, the fantastic documentary. I mean, as far as documentaries go, it's as good as any documentary out there. I was always a little more partial to the Nightmare series.

Anyway, even when they got bad, like, I feel like 1 and 3 are pretty great, to use its own weird thing. But, um. Even the later ones that got really kind of silly, and it was all like comedy more than it was horror, but it was still so much more imaginative and interesting to watch than your standard slasher knockoffs, which there were a million of out there. I was never a fan of it, but I did like Dokken, of course, and I did like that song, and I'm glad that they talked about that. In that.

Yeah. So that was my entry to ease us into it here with probably the most mainstream version. I've seen that video twice in the past week. Ever since we got the fancy internet TV cable thing. Nice.

The Metal Mania on VH1. That has been one of their top plays on there. Sweet. That I think was also a nice tie-in was that was at the peak of music videos too. And they did such a good video that totally tied in scenes from the movie with their own separate music video.

They built it on a set that looked like the set from the movie. They actually had Patricia Arquette in the video doing extra scenes with them. So it's like, Again, that was just an impressive video that perfectly kind of tied it in there too. Very cool. So that was my entry, but I'm going to turn the rest over to you because I know you've got a good list going here.

So how would you like to kick it off from here on? I think we've got to start with sort of what I call the Citizen Kane of heavy metal horror movies. And that is 1986's Trick or Treat. That was Skippy? Yes, it does have Skippy.

It does have Skippy. We did a full episode on the... He was sweating. The movie, but yeah, I don't think we've gotten into the Fastway action. Oh, yeah.

Yeah, so Fastway did all the music for the movie, which is fantastic. Of course, you got cameos from Gene Simmons and Ozzy Osbourne, and you got the whole satanic panic angle of it. You know, it's one of those movies that's definitely, I mean, it definitely plays right in so into that whole time period and that whole thing that was going on with the, Back masking. Yeah, man. And the congressional.

I mean, you think back on it now, it's almost impossible to believe that they brought people, that Congress brought rock and rollers in there to talk about how bad rock music was for the kids. I mean, it's just like the comic book stuff in the 50s. It's unbelievable. Dee Snider. Yeah.

I mean, the fact that he walked in in his cut-off jean jacket and like, again, he's not an idiot. So, like, I went back and watched it recently on YouTube. He just sort of lays it out for Tipper Gore or whoever all was up there. And, like, he just totally defends, like, not only, you know, heavy metal's cool, but the fact that we're artists, this is what we do, this is all fictional, none of it. Like, he's just, again, it was so interesting watching that.

Like, he was the most level-headed rock star out there that, like, sat down and, like, fought for their right to do whatever they. Wanted to do. Because that's what you think of when you think of logic and reason is we're not going to. Take it and the big, uh, The giant hair and the makeup. That's because that's serious business right there.

That's where I would start. I would tell anybody, if you want to watch, you know, one of the movies in this genre, start there. And it's as good as it gets, probably, you know, because it had production value, had great music. Fastway's a great band. I interviewed Fast Eddie Clark one time, who, of course, is from Motorhead, broke off and started his own band, Fastway.

And, you know, he was talking about how they got the gig to do the music and everything and how much he enjoyed doing it and, what a good time it was. So, yeah, for sure. Yeah, because then the singer, it was not much longer. I thought he died quite a while ago. No, no, he split off and started doing this Irish music.

It's not quite the same at all. No, no. Doing a jig somewhere. Probably. I think Irish and Scottish.

I think there's jigs involved. So, yeah, so that band didn't last long after that. But they're doing a good job here. So I picked a couple songs off of it to play. All right.

What do we want to go with? I would say the song Trick or Treat, the song, the debut song, the titular song. ¶ ¶ ¶ Say don't leave ¶ ¶ Everything's all right ¶ ¶ Everything is cool ¶ I ain't dude say I like your style It's the way it should Maybe you'll see Someone as good as fellow me Rock and roll, rockin' on a midnight Steal your soul Rock and roll, rockin' on a midnight Take control Looking for a sweet surprise It's a trick or treat See my face, truth in disguise If ever we should meet Maybe you'll see Someone has put a spell on me Rock and roll Rock it on midnight Steal your. Soul Rock and roll. Rock it all on midnight. Take control.

So let's rock. Rock. Rock. Rock and roll, rock it all midnight Steal your. Soul Rock and roll, rock it all midnight Take control Rock and roll, rock it all midnight Steal your soul And.

Then there's another one that I really like called Don't Stop the Fight. I did a podcast for a while where I was talking about heavy metal horror movies, and I used just the beginning of it, the guitar riff, for my opening. Bye. Bye. Superstitions in my mind Over.

And over, losing. Time Sometimes it feels so far away Sometimes it gets so hard. To say. Don't stop the fight. Every night's a crazy dream I've been.

Hurting, no one knows Through it all the pain still grows Sometimes you feel so far away. Sometimes you get Don't stop the fight. Don't die now Don't stop the fight He was a rotten boy He never liked being kicked Don't do it Don't do it He was a foolish boy Don't ask me why But he could steal your. Sometimes it feels so. Far away Sometimes it gets so hard to.

Say Don't stop the fight Don't die now Don't stop the fight Don't die now Don't stop the fight Don't die now, don't stop the fight. Don't die now, don't stop the fight. Don't die now, don't stop the fight. Wake up, sleepyhead. Rock and roll will never die.

At least not this Halloween. Inverted. Raising spirits from the dead by incantations, right? Yes. I did that by playing the record backwards.

You're kidding. Sammy Kerr. He's a rock and roll nightmare. I am a big fan of yours. I've got all your records.

Shut up! You're the man. The man is you. This message, it's meant for me. How can you listen to this stuff?

Rock and roll, rock it home in the city of soul. Shut it off! Shut it off! Rock and roll, rock it home in the city of soul. What have you done to your stereo?

I wanted a new one. Sammy Kerr. His fans won't let him die. He won't let them live. You should be loyal to your hero.

Make it. Turn on you. Trick or treat. Looks like we better check out the party punch. Want some music for your ears?

Doo-Wop Shop, we're serious about music.

We're not gonna take it No, we ain't gonna take it. I'm Dee Snyder from Twisted Sister, writer, star of Strangeland, radio, TV, you know me. And you're listening to Movie Meltdown. Yeah. This is our life.

This is our song. Next, I have written down 1984's Monster Dog, starring Alice Cooper. Have you seen this movie? I'm familiar with it. I don't know if I've gotten through it in its entirety.

He tends to fall asleep during movies a lot. Oh, that's true. But I'm older than you, so believe me, it happens to me all the time. My son's always talking to me and taking him to midnight movies at the Belcourt, which is our local art house movie. Dude.

You can't do that anymore. Nap time. Yeah. Like, okay, we'll go to the movie, and if I fall asleep, it's not my fault. Yeah.

So, yeah, Alice Cooper. This movie was directed by Claudio Fregazzi, who is the guy that made Troll 2, the infamous Troll 2. Infamous it is. Yeah, so it's an Italian movie. Alice Cooper is in a band, and they're going to record some music videos, and there's a legend of a werewolf in the area.

So we got this werewolf running around killing people. When he comes back to town, the killing starts again. Is Alice Cooper a werewolf? We don't know. Does he play Alice Cooper?

No. He plays Vincent. Raven. Vincent Raven. That is such a rock star name.

When I start my rock band, my second one that I haven't done the first one yet either, but that's my band. You're stealing his name? Yeah. That's the name of your band, Vincent Raven? Yeah.

I mean, my second band. Nice. My third band. Sorry. He can't get very upset since Alice Cooper kind of stole his name from his own band.

Yeah. If I remember how the legal proceedings worked, he stole his own name. So yeah, so Monster Dog would definitely be. And the song from it is, there's two songs in the movie, but the first one is Identity Crisis. Identity Crisis.

Identity Crisis. You don't argue with Alice. You don't argue with me. Sometimes I'm James Bond Sometimes I'm Billy the Kid Sometimes I feel like Sherlock Holmes Sometimes. I feel like Jack the Ripper.

Identity crisis is I throw it in the face Cause mine's. Been erased Identity. Crisis is Sometimes I'm on. A case Sometimes I'm shooting bad dudes Sometimes I'm slashing the face Sometimes I'm looking for clues. Breaking the law Sometimes I'm solving the crime I'm always fast on the draw I get the goods all the time Cause I got an image out of.

Control Identity crisis is I throw it in the face Cause mine's been erased Identity crisis is Let's go. James Bond. Sometimes I'm Billy the Kid. Sometimes I feel like Sherlock Holmes. Sometimes I feel like Jack the Ripper.

Cause I've got an image out of control. Identity crisis is. I took it in the face cause mine's been erased. Identity crisis is. We've seen Alice many a time, and he's pretty awesome.

I've only seen him once. I've seen him. I thought he played there twice. I only saw him once. Oh, well.

Well, we've seen Alice, and he's awesome. He didn't get rained out. Yeah, he still puts on a hell of a live show. This was not that long ago, and he's still today. Oh, his voice sounds great.

Yeah, he's still, I mean, he's still putting on, I mean, he ran around that set the whole time. He killed himself like six or seven times. Like, he still puts on such an amazing live show. We saw him twice on the tour with Alice, with Rob Zombie. And I can't tell you, I mean, it was a toss-up.

I thought Alice probably was better than Rob. Yeah. I mean, his voice sound is so good, and he hasn't missed a beat, you know. He's awesome. Alright, so next up, we got 1987's Rock and Roll Nightmare.

Nice. Now, I love this movie. Speaking of infamous. Yes, John Michael Thor. That's the one with the cover that's in 3D.

Was it the one with the roses and the guitar? I think it's Black Roses. Oh, I was a little confused. I haven't seen any of this movie. I like Black Roses.

Never mind. Forget Misty. Don't forget Tony. We'll keep back to it. They're from the same director.

Okay. John Fasano directed it. This movie is amazing and I've met Thor. I know Thor. I'm friends with Thor.

If you buy the soundtrack to this album, I am listed in the liner notes. Special thanks to Dr. Gane Green, which I had nothing to do with the soundtrack, but I was helping Thor promote his tour at the time when he was putting this thing together. So I guess he just wanted to thank me. It was a total surprise to me that he did that.

That's pretty awesome. We showed this movie in Nashville at a little club called The Basement. And Thor and I sat on stage and did the running commentary throughout the movie where I would ask him questions and we would talk about how he made the movie and everything. And then his band played afterwards. It was pretty epic.

That is pretty epic. This movie is amazing for the audience. twist in it. I will not spoil it. What a shame that a few bad apples have to spoil a good time for everyone. Listen, anybody who has not seen this, do not let anyone spoil the ending for you because it is one of those... what-the-fuck endings, one of the greatest, probably the greatest what-the-fuck ending, where it jumps so far out of the realm of making sense that you're just like, holy...

You've got to see it to believe it. So a band goes away to record a new album, and while they're there, strange... Things start happening. Are they nightmare type things? Little small weird creatures.

Okay, it starts a prologue. A family was murdered in the house years ago. And the demonic creatures are running around. So these little demon creatures start showing up. People start getting killed.

And again, I cannot reveal the twist in it because I would be. A dick if I did that. If I had seen it, I'd probably ruin it for you because I am a dick. You probably would. So make her, you guys need to get this movie and watch it.

Seriously. You'll be watching it and you'll be thinking, why in the hell did he tell me what, this is the worst piece of shit I've ever seen in my life. But then when you get to the finale, you'll be like, this is the greatest movie ever. All right. So next time we can't think of what we're watching on Netflix.

We're just going to watch this. Do you have a copy? I will have to get a copy. You need to get a copy of this. Yes.

Okay. So there's two songs we need to listen to. We accept the challenge. And we live to rock. Nice.

Sounds pretty great. Love you, don't back down I've been chasing you's and you's Feel so comfortable and I hold the wheel. Nothing can stop us. Life is so unreal. I take life as it comes.

I live from day to day. I wake at night, sleep with the sun. I shout out my way. Thank you. so so. Come on, let's tune our weapons.

What's the sound moving through the ages? What's the sound running over pages? Rock! Talk about rock! What's the power that can feed the hungry?

What it all makes people happy? Rock! The Russian girls are dancing to a brand new beat. Yeah. We live, we live to rock.

We live, we live to rock. This kind of music. We live, we live to rock We live, we live to rock We live, we live to rock They keep on rockin' round the clock We live, we live to rock I love this music, love to see the crowd Shakin' in the aisles, screamin' out loud Rockin' Can't you see I can't stop it cause it's here to stay It's all about rock We live, we live to rock We live, we live to rock Our kind of music won't ever stop We live, we live to rock. We live, we live to rock. We live, we live to rock.

Into the sky, lock it on up. We live, we live to rock. We'll be right back. So next up, we're going to go visit back to 1984 for the movie Rocktober Blood. That's a cool title.

Yeah. I mean, that's back when they were making specific horror movies that could Get away with a movie like Rocked Over Blood. You couldn't title that now. People would take it ironically, but it's dead serious in 1980s. Oh, man, it's great.

So the music from this one is from a band called Sorcery. They also did the soundtrack for another album, a movie we're going to talk about in a little bit. But for this one, band again recording in the studio. The lead singer goes crazy, starts killing people, and the police shoot and kill him. Good times.

We flip back to the future where the band's getting back together, got a new lead singer. They're going to start getting back on tour and whatnot, and people start getting offed again. The new lead singer, the woman this time, she starts seeing the original– singer Billy I. Again, she's like, oh, I saw Billy. And they're like, yeah, Billy's dead.

What are you talking about? So it's got some truly over the top parts at the end where the band is playing on stage and the singer's actually killing people on stage. You like cut someone's head off and throws it in the audience, but no one, no one notices. I mean, you can get away with that really. If it's the kind of show where they do that stuff again.

I mean, how many times does Alice kill himself in a show? One of these times it might go wrong and people would know for a while. They'd still be listening to the band and be like. All right, how come Alice is coming back on? That's all that matters.

So you can get away with killing people on, you know, if you've got a good stage show. So Rocktoberblood and, and the soundtrack sorcery, like I said, there is, it's really good music. Um, We've got a couple of different songs, one called I'm Back, and then another called There's a Killer on the Loose. Let's rock! Now your time is running out, it's guilt.

For killing's sake When you least expect it, I will attack. We'll be right back. I will attack. I'll see you. Next time.

Let me help you down back © BF-WATCH TV 2021 There's a killer on the loose Now he's stalking you Come back from the. Grave With a wrath. Of vengeance too For his cloak of mystery Soon will disappear Once you see his face Your mind will fill with fear There's. A killer on the loose Better try to hide There's a killer on the loose It's your turn to. Die Once it chooses you Your time comes to.

An end And the death that you've been feeling Will. Reach you at the beginning Well it's not. What you expected And it won't be clean or nice When he gets his hands on you They'll put your ass on ice There's a killer on the loose That'll try. To hide There's a killer on the loose. It's your time to die.

Now your time to die is coming very soon Well. I know that I'll be killing. You Before I've done this too Well, there's only one. More course And so surely. You can see That the one who's doing all these deeds.

In the name of death is me There's a killer at loose You better. Try to hide. Speaking of sorcery, they did the soundtrack for the next song we're going to talk about, which is Stunt Rock from 1980. Very infamous. Have you seen that movie?

I'm familiar with Stunt Rock. Stunt Rock is great because it is probably the most honest title for a movie ever. Yeah. That I've ever seen. Because that movie is about two things.

Stunts and rock and roll. And that's it. I mean, there's really no plot. And wizards. Yeah.

I mean, you've got a stuntman who comes to L.A. And he is visiting his friend who. has a rock and roll band where you have wizards and the devil that battle on stage. And he goes to these different shows and watches them play. And in between, he goes back to the set and does these amazing stunts. And that's your movie.

There's no. Lot there's no story arc it's just awesome stunts and kick-ass rock and roll with crazy stage antics. Yeah it's almost like it's a concert film only then it stops to be crazy in a different way yeah it's like now let's jump a bike over something. Yeah exactly and blow some some things up it's it's truly impressive so sorcery again and the song i chose was called sacrifice. We'll be right back.

Thank you. We'll be right back. We'll be. Right back. Tweaked Audio, your source for high-performance, noise-reducing earbuds.

Sounds better. This is Julie Adams, and you are listening to Movie Meltdown. Movie Meltdown. So next we jump back up to 1985. We've got the infamous, you used that word before, it's truly appropriate for hard rock zombies.

Nice. Have you seen that one? I was watching the video earlier. I think I'm traumatized by the video. Yeah, this one is pushing it to call it a heavy metal horror movie because it's a rock band, okay?

But that's about the extent of it. But this one is definitely on the lower budget side of things when it comes to these movies. You've got a band that's, this guy has gotten a hold of a book of spells, and he has started writing music using lyrics from the book. There's a cool little scene where the band's driving in a van, and a guy swats and kills a fly. Well, you have the lead singers in the back, and he's got the guitar, and he's singing lyrics from this book while he's playing the guitar.

Well, the fly keeps coming to life. And somebody smacks the fly and kills it again. The guy's back there singing, and the fly comes back to life. It's like a damn it. This fly won't die.

What's going on here? That's just a neat little touch. You know, that's kind of cool. That's cool. This movie is nuts.

You've got, in addition to the band, you've got Nazis, Hitler, Ava Braun is a werewolf and a midget all in this town. That's not how I do it. This is all in one movie. Yeah. And they're skateboarding and there's some miming going on at one point.

Yeah. Yeah. It's got it all, man. This movie's got it all. The band gets killed.

Uh, chick that he's met and fallen and kind of fallen in love with that in a town plays a cassette tape, uh, with the recording of him singing lyrics from the book, which brings them back to dead to battle Hitler and his minions. How epic is that? And you've got to see the zombie March. So dead snow stole their ideas. What we're learning.

There you go. That's right. Hard rock zombies did it first. This song again, not really heavy metal, but, um, It's in the song. It's very special.

It's in the. Movie, so nah, nah, nah. I said it don't come easy. And if it does, it tends to fade You gotta try and keep believing What a feeling when the thoughts are Well, there's a challenge every day. Well, take your shot, you may have no others.

Well, that's a challenge every day. Special, that's what it is. All right, so next we're going to jump back to 1980. This is the earliest movie in our list. We have a band called Shadow from the movie New Year's Evil.

You've seen that one, right? That was, yeah, I dug it out this past New Year's Eve, actually. Yeah. It's like that's the way to ring in the new year. New Year's Evil.

That's it. And it's good. It's your kind of classic slasher movie. Yeah. Except there's a band playing for the Midnight Countdown, and they sing a song that's titled New Year's Evil, which is the one we're going to play.

While this is going on, there's a whole subplot of a slasher going around killing people and whatnot. The band doesn't really have much to do with the slasher, but. It is funny how much there was just such a subgenre that kicked in, because the 80s was the 80s, that it worked its way into just normal plot lines of like, oh yeah, and then this band comes along, and demons, and you know. Oh, and there's way, way more than we're even going to try to get to tonight. But there's no end.

Every time I turn around, I'm finding new ones. I watched one on Netflix just the other day called Splatter. And it was from the era? No, no, it's brand new. It's new?

Oh. And not only that, but it's directed by Joe Dante. And it's a short film. I can't figure out what the heck it is, except I looked it up on IMDb, and it said it was a series, and there were like 10 episodes or something. I don't know because the thing that's on Netflix is a standalone episode.

But it's got a rocker that comes back from the dead to get revenge on people that did him wrong. His manager, a groupie. The one with Corey Feldman. Corey Feldman, yes. I've seen that.

It's pretty awful. I have seen something you've talked about. But it's kind of cool but kind of not at the same time. I don't know. Yeah, I remember they did that series.

Was that in one of the Masters of Horror or something? No, it wasn't a Masters of Horror. It wasn't an anthology thing? It's its own thing. I'm really kind of confused about it.

It's strange. It was a magical thing. But it had Tony Todd because he'll do any goddamn thing. Tony Todd, yes. I like Tony Todd.

I like him too. I'm just saying he'll do anything. Sometimes you gotta, you know, you gotta cash a check. That's right. Put food on the table.

So we're going to play the theme from New Year's Evil. Shining like the light that hits the night at the stroke of midnight. Tell me, will it be sweet New Year's Eve? Or do I feel a New Year's fever? Shall we dance to the music, toast the past?

Watch the hurry, heart beat, draw the only hourglass. Love at last, when I see your bright eyes flash. You'll be spinning, spinning. To the ground. Please make me drown. life you appear outside in the street to hear the cheers for you my dear from all the people tell me will it be sweet to you deep or do I fear to you deeper.

Showing dance to the music, toast the past. Watch the hearty, hearty journey. Of the hour's past. Love at last when I see your bright eyes flash. You'll be spinning, spinning to the ground.

So getting back next from 1988, this is the movie that you mentioned earlier, Black Roses. And an awesome album. Okay. Now, now I'm going to do, I did an awesome VHS cover. I remember it was 3d.

Yeah. It's very cool. It was like guitar and roses. And it was all three dimensional and shit like bumpy. Yeah.

It wasn't like it was 3d. Like you put glasses on, like it physically came out towards you. It was actually molded to be a three dimensional thing. It was strange, and probably they all got smashed in the video stories because it seems like that would not last very long at all in a functioning video story. This is another one of those satanic panic kind of movies where a band of demons is coming to town to play a series of shows multiple nights in the same town to try to steal the souls of the children of the town.

Frank Dietz, right here, is in both The Man Sitting at the Table Next to Us, Rock and Roll Nightmare, and Black Roses. He has a bigger role in Black Roses. Does he want to claim those things? I think he claims them proudly. He was good friends with John Fasano, the director who unfortunately passed away last year.

This movie's good. It's got Julie Adams from Creature from the Black Lagoon in it. Actually, I do remember when we talked to her, I was looking down the list. I don't know if we talked to her about that one, but I do remember she was talking about still continuing to work and being kind of glad to do something that was current at that time because She'd done so much stuff in, like, 50s and 60s, and, like, yeah. Well, that's obviously the height of Frank's career.

I mean, he jumped a shark at that point. Obviously, I mean, all this illustration crap that he's doing now, yeah, whatever. I mean, Black Roses and Rock and Roll Nightmare, I mean, come on. So the song is Me Against the World, and it's by the band Lizzy Borden. Another classic band of the era.

It's just me against the world. Leave me alone. I'm on the defense. Why doesn't it ever make sense. I'm sick of all this indecision You're messing with my.

Mind This ain't no false concern And this ain't no freak. Disguise Cause I am for real You don't It's me against the world. It's me against the world. It's me against the world. We'll be right back.

We'll be right back. We'll be right back. They'll never take me to life. I'm gonna make them all pay Cause I. Am for real You don't know what.

I feel My strength is in my will Me against the world. It's me against the world. We'll be right back. You can't face my life. You're just one thing twice as soon my way.

But I won't do the martyr. I know you see it wrong. The cover don't belong. I'm holding tight. Don't you push me too far.

It's me against the world. It's me against the world. Against the world. All right, so last we have a newer movie from 2001. We've got Wild Zero, Guitar Wolf from Wild Zero.

Are you familiar with... That movie. I was watching them. I know there was a whole movement. Once we were done with heavy metal, it's like other cultures picked it up and started doing their own thing with it.

So it felt like that's what they were doing. They recreated their own new genre. Man, Guitar Wolf is so awesome. They're so garagey and trashy. They're really not heavy metal.

They're more like garage punk bands is what they are. very rockabilly influenced very guitar punk I mean and they're awesome and so energetic and the movie is amazing if you haven't seen this movie seriously check it out it's got a love story it's got aliens invading it's got zombies it's got it all so that is quite a collection quite a Frankenstein soundtrack of nothing but metal that we put together this week absolutely fun stuff if you guys haven't seen any of those movies I can recommend most of them. Most of them I think you'd enjoy. For sheer novelty purposes, I would say across the board. And then there's probably some really good ones mixed in there. Or at least epic in their own special way.

Yeah, Trick or Treat is the most production value and probably the most watchable if you've never seen any of those. Definitely. Definitely Rock and Roll Nightmare is the most what the fuck kind of crazy. Although Hard Rock Zombies is pretty much up there too. Stunt Rock is, yeah, it's just stunts and rock and roll, so.

Oh, crazy. It's all you need, man. Well, you have put together a great list. So tell people where to find you. You guys can find me on the web at drgangreen.com.

You can find me on Facebook, Dr. Gangreen. Currently, I'm doing a YouTube series where I'm going through all the films of Vincent Price, which is as far from rock and roll horror as you can get. And I'm doing a video. He would have liked some of these probably.

I think so. He would have shown up in them. Yeah. Well, I mean, he worked with, he got seven degrees up, right? So he worked with Vincent Price.

Mm-hmm. Who was in Monster Dog, so there you go. There's your tie-in. But yeah, so I'm doing a series where I'm doing one video for every movie of Vincent Price's catalog. And I'm up to 1956.

I just did an episode on the Ten Commandments. And next we have The Story of Mankind. And then I start getting into what is really the golden era of Vincent Price, which starts with The Fly, Return of the Fly, the William Castle films, and the Roger Corman films. All the way up through. But more importantly, when do you get the Dr.

Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine? Yeah, that'll come in the 60s. Fun stuff. Or the Girl Bombs. Either one.

Yeah, they're both pretty entertaining. We almost showed that this year for our movie upstairs tonight. That was my choice for the weekend, but since we have both Victoria Price and Sarah Karloff here, we're going to be hosting... Instead, I'm hosting... A comedy of terrors upstairs.

Yeah, there's no tie-in without that. Yeah, since both the dads are in it. And they're both going to be there, so it should be fun. That's awesome. So you guys can find me on YouTube also.

All right. I'd say definitely go check you out and see what you've got going on on your channel. And thank you for piecing together this soundtrack this week. Well, cool. Thanks for having me on.

This will be fun. I can't wait to hear it all in one place. All the music together should be. Again, that's the way I like these. It's building our own... you know, Frankenstein soundtrack pieced together from all these other ones.

Awesome. Anyway, so the song, we're going to play Jet Generation from Guitar World. All right. Well, thanks for being here. Otherwise, that about does it.

With that, I will remind you, get a life and we'll provide you a soundtrack. Thank you for watching! Go, go, go! Go, go, go! Jet Generations Thank you.
