This is PJ Souls, and you are totally listening to Movie Meltdown. Good evening. The following feature has been rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America. To your sentinels, we have revealed them. And I will haunt you forever! What's up? Welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian.
I'm Nora. And I'm Phillip. And we're coming to you live via digital recording from the Kitty Corral in these spooky, spooky times for our extra special Halloween special. Wee! I thought i thought one of you was gonna do another.
Noise oh i'm sorry thank you i'm inserting them in right now don't you worry okay good so it's mid-october A nice, chilly 87 degrees outside because the world's coming to an end. The leaves are turning slightly less green. What is wrong with the world? Every day as I wander around, I'm like, why is it 90 today? It is October.
But, you know, otherwise, I see lots of Halloween stuff in the stores, so I like that. Yeah. We put out our big spooky spider today. It didn't attack me on the way in, but I think it was thinking about it. I didn't notice it.
But I have been enjoying your neon bat over here. Yeah, neon bat, mini pumpkin, little ghost garland on the fireplace. It's very festive in here. It's the renaissance picture of me. cats that my mom got at the saint james art fair. Oh that's that's spectacular that's just such a thing now because again i know someone that shall remain nameless that has two hanging up right now no three well no there's two renaissance and one that's just a dog wearing glasses so animals wearing people clothes and accessories is just such a subsection of prefab artwork at this point.
Yes but nothing will be dogs playing poker. I mean that's the classic that's the old. I don't care what anybody says you look at that painting that is actually there's skill involved. There oh yeah it is an art form in and of itself yes but yeah so spooky things are going on I like that that's all I have to go with so have you been watching any spooky. Things again I'm nodding yes.
That is the best way to handle audio yeah. We wanted uh something like i want something fun fall spooky not too intense so we watched uh that's every day. For me now yeah just not so. I really can't yeah just stop i can't so we watched clown in a cornfield which fun title. I mean, I guess, but then there's probably going to be clowns, and then I'm just going to be annoyed for other reasons.
There are clowns. Who let these clowns in this movie? Yeah, it was what I was looking for. Oh, good. It was like teen, funny.
Takes itself somewhat seriously? Because most of those indie horror movies take themselves really seriously. Yeah, not in an annoying way. Is clown in a cornfield, is it equal to snakes on a plane? Like it tells you in the title what you're going to get.
Yeah. And enough of these motherfucking clowns. Pretty much. These motherfucking cornfields. I would watch that.
I mean, because that's my comment anytime I see clowns. Yeah. When like the big reveal comes, it's something that. You're like, oh, I've seen that before. It wasn't anything groundbreaking, but for like an hour.
And a half, yeah. As long as they're not trying to make you feel otherwise leading up to. It, I'm okay with it. No, yeah. I like it when they tell you the name of the protagonist and where he, she, or it is located.
Clown in a cornfield. All right. I did feel like the... the hands of time coming for me because I identified a lot more with the dad character he was very funny whoever that actor was whose name I don't remember Here, I bet I can look them up. You kids, get out of my cornfield. That happened to me the last time I watched The Breakfast Club.
I was actually on the principal's side. I was like, look at these jackasses tearing up the library. Yeah, because there's all these teens. Okay, Aaron Abrams plays the dad. And I liked him a lot.
And the teens are teens. They're fine. It was fine. It was fun. A good October harvest season. dried corn thing.
I don't know. That's fine. That's all you can ask. All right. Yeah.
Does the clown have balloons? So like, is there times where they're looking, they're in the cornfield and they're like, where's the clown? And they look over and they just see the balloons bobbing up and down? I don't think so. Missed opportunity.
Yeah, not that I remember. Is it seasonal within it? I mean, is it set around a, because now you have all your cornfield type activities going on in parts of the country that I guess can have those. So. Yeah, it's set like, there are, yeah.
It's fall, harvest-y time. It's fall, you're in a cornfield. Come stand in a cornfield and maybe get murdered. I think it's that the original clown is like the mascot for a corn syrup manufacturing company or something. And so that's.
Merc. But yes, there is corn. It's all about corn syrup. Always. Yeah, yeah, pretty much.
I watched a movie called Bring Her Back. Oh. Have you seen it? No. I saw it talk to me and it messed me up.
Brace yourself. I remember the title and now I can't remember which premise went with it. Well, first of all, it is an Australian film, which you know how I love and fear Australian films. Because everything there is trying to kill you. Everything there is trying to kill you, including their cinema.
Oh, yeah. But the premise, without giving too much away, is that... there are a couple of teenagers, a brother and sister, who come home and find their dad dead, and then they get placed in foster care. The girl of the two teens is blind, and their new foster mom, we find out right away that she previously had a blind daughter, so you're like, okay, she's trying to replace her daughter with this girl, and as the movie goes on, yes, that is indeed the case, but in ways that you could not possibly have foreseen coming. Yeah. It is one of the goriest movies I have seen in a while, which I've talked on here before about how I'm not a big gore fan, but this time the gore actually makes sense.
It's not just gore for gore's sake. It actually like moves the plot forward. And at the end of the movie, you're full of questions, but you're like, I don't. Need these questions answered. I'd rather not know.
We'll just go with what we got here. So I highly, highly, highly recommend it. Yeah. Yeah. I need to work myself up to seeing that one.
What was the one you said? So the brothers who wrote and directed that, their first movie that they did was called Talk to Me. Talk to Me. And it was about the hand. Is it the hand?
Yeah. I didn't realize that was the same. Yeah. Oh, God. This is this is that dialed up I know.
That's why I haven't seen it because talk to me was so scary and upsetting it was creepy yeah very good. This is this is as an overall movie this is much better put together than that is oh interesting and I like. That one yeah oh man I'm gonna have to watch. It then I was kinda I'm kinda thinking. But it's gonna make me really upset.
I mean I'm almost thinking we should do it on here because it was that good and there's there would be a lot to talk about. Sounds like a lot i don't have to think about things which i guess kind of i don't know i was trying to think what led me to this one mostly i just wanted to come back around to this uh series i guess because i did see 28 years later have either of you seen it not yet i i think because i'd heard because it if it was based on the first one because the first one is amazing but also i've always found it to be like overwhelmingly slow like depressing no yeah just like the first well it's got a great opening and then you get that mid-level right in the center there where it's almost fun and like has a nice little like hey we're dealing with this problem and everything's cool and then there's a point right in the middle where something bad happens and then from that point on everything just sucks like it's just like everything is dark and i mean granted that's what you're there for i get it but i'm like tonally it's like more dark than a lot of even your standard zombie movies I feel like so it's one of those I like own a copy of it but I have watched it maybe once since I originally like I don't revisit it because of that.
Yeah I think I own a copy too and I don't think I've even cracked the seal on it. That's yeah that's been my take is I think about it and think how much I appreciate it and respect it and yeah do I want to watch it really that's just it's depressing like it just gets horrifying by the end in different ways and more sad ways and yeah that sucks so what do you think of the second one though the second one i haven't seen in a long time again i think i picked up a copy i think i've watched it once years ago but i haven't because i keep thinking lately i wanted to revisit it just to sort of take a look at it technically I don't think he directed that one he's still like producer but like so but I remember at the time liking that one I felt like it was a more conventional well right just normal like here's some kids that got into trouble with zombies in the zombie world and like it felt a little more just your normal zombie movie versus the weird intensity of the original.
Yeah my mistake was I went in expecting more of the the original yeah and it's a completely different take. On it but little but it's not bad huh Little Poots. Oh, she's in it. That's the first thing I ever remember. She's like a kid in that.
She's one of the two kids. Little Poots. So, yeah. Little Imogene Poots. Wait, what's the new one that just came out, then?
Yeah, I keep seeing her posting stuff from festivals, and now I don't remember what it was, but she's got a new one that just came out. No, didn't a new 28 whatever? Yeah, 28 Years Later. Oh. That's the one he saw.
Well, that's the one I watched, but that's the third. What's the second one? 28 Weeks. Oh okay so it's days weeks years gotcha. I'm still upset that they missed out on the money.
Yeah i mean i'm kind of surprised he came back to it really like i thought yeah because that was like the first movie that kind of broke for him so like i thought well now he got his cheap horror movie out of the way and then he started making oscar movies and i was just like well guess he's done with horror now so it's kind of surprised i mean although you know in recent years he's done some weird not what you would expect him to do kind of movies so he's an all over the place sort of director anyway but i was surprised he still came back around i guess just the years were catching up he's like well i'm gonna do this we gotta make good on this timing like this is it so i liked it um again i think i think i'd heard it wasn't like that one in that same way So yeah, I think tonally it's not as overpowering as the other ones.
I think it's a little more, because it is, here's the weird part. And I don't remember if they went into this in the second one. The first one, it happens immediately. So you don't know what's going on outside of your frame of reference right in front of you. But like in this one, we get at least mentions of a worldview that like basically the rest of the world's fine and operating like it normally would be right now. they just, so like, I don't think they said it, but I'm watching this going, so they just said, this island here has got zombies.
Screw you guys. And they just like, everybody just stays away now. So I'm like, they're basically just quarantined off on their own area. You're screwed if you live there. And yeah, the rest of the world just continues on.
It's like, yeah screw you guys which is what I said I was like actually that's maybe the most realistic thing about this movie because that is exactly what certainly our country would do and I'm sure the rest of the world would jump right in so yeah yeah so that was interesting that the world seems to be going on just like normal outside of this one little place where there's zombies so that's interesting um it does start off a little slower and then it becomes almost like a road trip movie ooh laughing They don't have a car, but it's still sort of like a... We're on the road to Zambia. Yeah, so that becomes a little more interesting because they get out into the countryside then and are kind of dealing with different scenarios then.
And we get a few other characters that come into play. Definitely one major one that I think they're going to do something else with. I think that's the only thing I noticed by the end of it. This definitely feels like it's part of a series now. Where that first one was just like, here's a weird messed up horror movie, the end.
And like, that was it. The fact that they even came back to do a sequel is just because the first one made money. So like, this one feels like it's part of a series so much so that it sets up a character that now I've heard, I don't know if this has fallen through since then, but they were potentially going to do either another movie with this character or a whole limited series based around this character. It's, So I was just like, that's a lot. Really?
Which is like, it works fine in this movie, but I'm like, I don't know about a whole nother series, man. And then it also just like ends in a way that is just leading into something else. Like it's just setting you up for another movie, which again is weird when it was like, I was surprised he even came back for this one. So is he going to come back and direct again? Or is like last time just going to hand it off?
Like, yeah, I'll produce it. But yeah, you guys start making something. So. I don't know. But it's definitely a little lighter in tone.
The zombies have changed. Although, again, people are going to argue that they're not. For the sake of calling them whatever. They've become feral over the years. Weren't they already?
Zombies in and of themselves, I know, are feral. No, these are like, before it had that animalistic kind of thing when you got infected with the rage virus. But this is, you just, it's just animals. And animals so much so they don't, it's been years, I guess, or they just purposefully strip themselves because they don't wear clothes anymore. So that's an interesting new aspect when zombie attacks happen.
Yeah, just feral animal creatures running around. That is like the one thing that I heard about that movie was apparently there's one zombie. There's one. He's the big daddy, we'll say. And yeah, yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Which is such a wild choice if you're making a movie to have one that's like distracting me. Well endowed. I mean, I guess it makes sense.
He is the one in charge, so. Well. See, that's the sort of decision that had I been on the movie crew would have gotten me reprimanded. Yeah. A little phone call from HR.
Yeah. You're like, but it makes sense. Let me explain again. No, please don't. Please don't.
I just don't feel like it's necessary. Stop drawing the pictures because that is not helping your case. But I have all these. You can draw more pictures. I got a whole notebook full.
Yeah, we know. Yeah, we've seen. You have to stop showing the interns your notebook. Craft services is not a place for your showcase of artwork. That's so funny.
That did make me remember that when I was in high school, this is about the original 28 Days Later and not about what we were just talking about. I'm glad you clarified it. Before I go into this. I assumed it was just your notebook. Where does the zombie dong come into the story?
Just regular. Super bad notebook. Regular zombies with pants on. But. I do have a very vivid memory of the first time that I smoked weed in high school.
We were all at this kid's house, and his parents were out of town, and so we all spent the night on the floor in sleeping bags in the living room, and he had a giant screen TV, and someone had put on 28 Days Later, and then we. All fell asleep. A little intense for mixing drugs in. Yeah, and it was the DVD, so when it was over, it just went to the menu, which is entirely just like. And loops over and over and over.
So I woke up at like three in the morning and everyone else is asleep and all is just like blaring zombie noises nonstop. So anyway, that's the first time I did drugs. And only time, mom. And that's what messed you up and the reason you are the way you are. That's when I said never again.
Never. Learned your lesson. Yeah, exactly. All right. So, yeah, that was fine.
Again, not mind-blowing, but, like, entertaining if you are okay with zombies and or rage virus peoples. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. All right. Anything else? seasonal before we attack this week's movie?
I have something for us. So, Nora, you know how every year Brian reminds. Us that he hates us by giving us nasty candies? Yes. I have brought my own Halloween candy.
Candies oh and on theme. Sour patch zombie that's old school because we went through a whole year of sour patch kids yeah every excuse to have a new different weird sour patch kid we did it so i thought you know we needed a break for a while but it's been a while so it has been a while we could go back to some i. Have not tried those yet so i don't know how they are but cute i also have the mike and ike Sour spooky treats. How fun. Which come in sour ghoulish grape, sour orange scream. and Sour Wicked Watermelon.
And I have had a box of these, and I must say these are fantastic. All right. There's a nice creepy sour theme going on. Oh, how cute. There we go.
Everyone feel free to have sugary snacks. Thanks, Phillip. Here you are. And see, this time it's not even my fault. That's going to bother me.
And listeners, you are not here to smell it, but I'm making soup because it's soup season. It's very seasonal fall behaviors. Soup, soup. It is very good smelling. Who doesn't need a good soup?
I don't know. Every now and then I meet people who tell me they don't like soup in July, and I don't understand what they're trying to tell me. I mean, I've told you mine. Just doping in that can is a lot of trouble. Other than that, if it were just there, I'd be like, oh, soup.
I don't have a problem with the eating of soup. I'll eat soup any time of year. Any type of weather. I don't care. Do not care.
Soup. It's the way to go. There's your seasonal fall message. There you go. Brought to you by soup.
Give it a try. I also bought earlier this month, for the first time in several years, I bought a box of Count Chocula. And, boy, was I disappointed. And it tastes exactly like I remember it tasting. I just didn't enjoy it.
This time. Well, I've trained my system. And there's no chocolate flavor in there. Well, I don't eat any crap like that anymore. Like, that was my entire life.
And then at one point, I can't say that I ever grew up, but at one point I just started eating boring grown-up cereals. And I'm like, oh, I like these. So that's what I have every other day of my life. And so the only time is when Halloween rolls around. And I'm like, all right, Count Chocula, let's do this.
And they only come in boxes the size of a suitcase. So it's not like you can have it. Like if I could have like a bowl, maybe two bowls. Like I'd be good. They don't come in the snack packs.
It's 700 bowls later. I'm like, oh my God. And you want to get into, I know this is sacrilege for hardcore, you know, monster cereal fans. But you know what my main issue with it is? Not even the overwhelming flavor of sugarness and the fact that it's not really chocolate.
It just won't stay in the damn bowl. It won't. What is up with it? It climbs out sometimes. If you have old, boring, old people flakes, they just lay there and you put some milk on them and they stay in the bowl.
These are just constantly trying to spring out of the side of the bowl. And I'm like, they slide off the spoon. What the hell? I get more on my shirt than I do on my belly. Mine's just on the table and the counter when I'm done pouring.
I'm just like this. Well, I eat mine in my chair while I watch cartoons, but. That's most food. That should be every Saturday morning of your life. Tuesday, Wednesday, whatever.
These days, no. Yeah. So, yeah, that was, and I did it again this year. I got blueberry, too. And by the time I was done with both of those, oh, my God.
I was like, can I just go back to old, boring food? I may have made it halfway through the Count Chocula. Yeah. I ate a good portion of it. Eventually, I think on at least one of them, I was like.
I went in, I was all excited. I was like, I'm going to have a bowl of this every night. And I think I've had two bowls and then just a handful of dried cereal. I will say I'm always a fan of the box, but this year in particular, the box art is amazing. It's super impressive.
So have you seen this year? No. It was. The monster crew has been redesigned by the Jim Henson Company. Oh.
As Muppets. What? See, it'd be different if they were just a puppet version of it, but it is actually Jim Henson made, you know, the company signed on to do it this year. Oh my God. They are official Henson creations of Count Chocula and Frankenberry and Booberry.
Pierce and I have always joked that, you know, when people have like a koi fish giant back piece tattoo, that's like the big fish in the middle. about me getting one, but it's Kermit the Frog. I don't know why that's a joke. It would be awesome. And then my Instagram algorithm, I was scrolling through videos the other day. What?
Exactly. I love you. Look how adorable. Adorable. It looks so retro.
The Frankenberry and the blueberry are just spectacular. No fruity yummy mummy or fruit. Brood, unfortunately. It's too bad. Another year, I'm sure.
The bastard stepchildren of the. Or the new kid that nobody cares about anymore. I'm sorry, I interrupted your Kermit the Frog. Oh, no, you're fine. Yeah, so then I was scrolling through Instagram, and...
There was a tattoo artist who was doing a giant back piece of the Muppets Christmas Carol. And I was like, no way. Who is this dork and how do I become friends with him? I know. So somebody out there is doing it and good for them.
And also, you never have an original thought in your brain. I have debated it. For years on getting a Sweetums tattoo. Sweetums is badass. It may happen one day.
That's not a bad idea at all. I didn't think so. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I mean, that's the thing. I still, I get a lot of just general ones that come up on the feed and I'm like, there's just, again, I'm a weirdo, but like there's the weirdest shit that people get as a tattoo.
Like it's one thing to just think of it, but then you've now permanently put it on you. So people get a lot of crazy shit. More power to you. I've had to talk Pierce out of getting a few since we've been together. Well, before that, I mean.
Pierce has several already. He's got some. So he's got the attitude of what's one more. Yeah, yeah. That's how it gets started.
Yeah. He does unfortunately have an accidental white supremacist tattoo. You know the... Accidental. He may have shown that to me.
I don't remember. Like the circle game that's like this and then like if you look down but now it's like a proud boy or something like hand signal and he has it tattooed on him which is very unfortunate. Yeah. I feel like that's got to confuse somebody out there. I know.
She's like, hey, wait a minute. That one, I feel bad for Pierce in that situation, but also that one is a little bit easier to explain than, say, getting a Jerusalem cross on your chest. Yeah. That's true. Yikes.
Yeah. All right. Speaking of weird tattoos, let's get to this week's movie. Hey, that is a good time. I mean, I actually am going to address that somewhere down the line.
Are there tattoos in this movie? Oh, yeah. Did we watch the same movie? Uh-oh. I questioned it before we started.
I said, here's what I watched. Hopefully, we're all watching the same movie. It's time for Sofa Theater. This cannot be good. It's scary, I don't think it's okay.
Yes, we're doing it. It's the end. Say goodbye. Is this supposed to be scary? Breathe deeply.
Close your eyes. Keep the monsters from creeping in. I just want to. Get out of. Here.
We just want to leave. Please don't hurt me. Do you want to see my face? I'll come back to haunt you Memories will fall Oh, I remember tattoos in it now. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sorry. You know. Oh, man. That one. Yes.
Okay, good. Because I'm like, if I watched that and you guys watched something else, normally I would think that was very funny, and I would just go along and review my movie while you guys review yours. But in this instance, I would be pissed. So, this Horror Club Halloween Sofa Theater feature is Haunt. The year is 2019.
The directors, Scott Beck and Brian Woods... And the plot, according to IMDb, on Halloween, a group of friends encounter an extreme, I'm using air quotes, haunted house that promises to feed on their darkest fears. The night turns deadly as they come to the horrifying realization that some nightmares are real. First of all, I feel like that was written by the PR people for this movie. Because...
Really? That's not how I would have described it. I also feel like the movie hired somebody's cousin to be their PR. Well, that too. And also, spoiler alert, we're going to run the hell out of this.
Did we know going into this that this was made in Kentucky? I didn't, but I couldn't remember if you mentioned that. If I knew that, I forgot until at the end of the movie where the little, we thank the great people of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. And I was like, of course not. Of course this movie was made in Kentucky.
I was just kind of annoyed the whole time. I was like, why didn't you guys let me know? Maybe I wanted to come see you guys make a movie. I know. Well, what's annoying is they set it in Illinois, so all the license plates are Illinois.
But they filmed it in northern Kentucky, like outside of Cincinnati. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, Kentucky. Woo!
I don't know. That was right at the point we had- Kentucky, we have crazy carnival clowns. That was right at the point we had really good tax breaks, if I'm remembering. Because there was like, they passed the one, we had a ton of stuff show up and shoot here. Because I remember talking to people that were making stuff at the time.
And then like- Three years later, something got changed, and then we didn't have that amount anymore. So then something's changed since then, because I remember them going back to being like, no, no, we're back to pitching it. Like, it's a thing again. Yeah. I think it's a different version, but there's still some sort of good tax breaks, possibly.
So every once in a while, I still see somebody shooting something here. Yeah. This past, not to be a big old nerd, but this past legislative session, they passed a big bill about kentucky film incentive stuff so i bet we'll see more coming in. That might have been fixing whatever they screwed. Up probably yeah but yeah every.
Once in a while they do because actually i don't think i talked about this on the show but when i went to they did do the showing here of um the fog months ago and it had adrian barbeau there to do a q a afterwards and she was here shooting a movie Which I was like, I didn't even know that's... I wondered how they got her to randomly show up at this show. She was alive. So that's uncool. Because by the way, looks amazing.
No complaints there. She looks amazing. And is still out there working. In my defense, we keep losing all the good actors. Actor ladies.
Death. We lost a good one yesterday. I know. Diane Keaton, for those of you listening in the future. Many, many months in the future by the time somebody gets this together.
I did see the post that said, the wrong Annie Harstar died. I was like, wow. Yeah, I mean, yeah, I get it, but. True. Harsh.
So, anyway. Yeah, on my streaming services today, it popped up, oh, here's some movies of Diane Keaton you might like. And I start flipping through them. Man, she made a lot with Woody Allen. I mean, that was most of her early career, really.
And I knew there were several, but I mean, there were a lot. That was most of her. And I was like, you keep shoving these down my throat. What's going on here, Roku? Well, the thing I thought was weird was the first, not even the first one, the first two or three didn't...
I guess that's the game when you are a celebrity is like, what are they going to pull when you keel over? What's your go-to? Because they have to throw something in the headline usually. So this was star of Father of the Bride and First Wives Club. And I was just like, really?
I was like, those are your... I mean, I guess everybody's probably seen Father of the Bride. That was one of those that just like everybody kind of liked at the time. It was on cable constantly. So, I can see that one being maybe the most mainstream thing she was in, but I was like, not Annie Hall?
Like the titular character that she's maybe still best known for? No, no. First Wives Club. I was like, all right, whatever. We're playing it safe these days, Brian.
Yeah, I get it. But even that's old. It's not like if they went with something from last year that she had some bit part in. But like, no, just random. That's always the game.
What are they going to quote you for when you keel over? But I do need to re-watch First Wives Club. It's a great movie. I think I've just had enough of Bette Midler. Forever.
I never thought I'd hear somebody say that. Hocus Pocus! And during Hocus Pocus season, Brad. I was not the Hocus Pocus focus group. Yeah, same here.
I just avoided it most of the time. Because I didn't... Most of them I was not thrilled with. Well, I saw Hocus Pocus in the theater and thought, okay, I enjoyed it for an hour and a half. But it did not like embed itself in me like it did.
I think I've said before and assumed I would get death threats, but I was just like, I didn't, I was never thrilled with Bette Midler, especially as she got more into her, like her eighties mode. Like her weird seventies stuff is just like insane as a performance artist almost. But like by the time she was making her cheesy 80 movies, I was like, eh, whatever. And then like Kathy, Jimmy, Jimmy just gets on my nerves. And then you'd have to go back far enough.
When she was Sandy, I liked Sarah Jessica Parker. By the time she gets to her dumb TV show, I'm like, I don't care. So yeah, none of them were selling it for me. I don't know. Shame.
I know. Disagree. I know every Halloween kid in the world grew up differently, but I just didn't care. I was just like, nah. You know, what I find interesting about this is the amount of times that I have been over to your house as an adult and we've watched Nickelodeon together.
Yeah, that seems fine. That's a totally different mode. It is a totally different mode, but I can see where one would fall in line with the other. No, no. My question is, did you watch the sequel?
No, because I heard it wasn't very good. Again, I steered clear of it. Just like, well, that means I have to watch the other one first. I don't think so. But Doug Jones.
That's the only reason I've been tempted over the years. Because once I found out, I was like, oh, he is like a big lovable character in this movie. Now I know. But do I want to watch the rest of them? Not really.
Yeah, that's fair. So I'll just watch like a Doug super cut. Also fair. Yeah. All right.
Where were we? We were, oh, we were, yeah, we got way off topic. Still very Halloween oriented, just not this movie. So, we start with some pumpkin smashing. I guess very seasonal in and of itself.
Very angry pumpkin smashing. Well, from an asshole. Well, true. That is an interesting way to start this movie. It was just like, oh, okay.
So, again, I was at the time trying to figure out what that was, and then later I was like, okay, now I really don't know what to do with this. What that was was sloppy filmmaking. I'll get into that more as we go on, but I was very upset with that character, and not for the reasons why you're supposed to be upset with him, but you could have eliminated that character's entire storyline... And had the exact same movie. Yeah.
Yeah. I mean, the closest I was, because then later we realized she's from that initially. So, I mean, I guess that is a cycle. And like, so that almost makes sense is like, she's going to grow up and then inadvertently, unknowingly seek out that same type of guy. Well, that fits in with my sloppy filmmaking, which I'll get into in a little bit.
So that's the best I could come up with. But initially I was just like, what a weird way to open this movie. Yay. Right. And I've seen this movie a few times.
I think it's like a very fun Halloween movie. I love anything that's set in like a haunted house. I think like it has some creative things going on. Gore is really good. Yeah.
Scary. But I always forget about that plot line, even though it like starts off. And then every time I'm like, oh. I forgot about that. Well, also because it disappears most of the movie.
Yes, exactly. And then later it's like, oh, wait. Okay. Yeah. We don't need it.
I guess we'll wait until we get to the end to address those weird things. But okay. Yeah. Yeah. We don't need it.
I did, as we got into this, I was like, this is just sort of its own sub-genre now. Between either the Haunted House version or the festival version we've now watched like four of these movies yes in like five years like i love them it's a lot of these where you get into some sort of haunted attraction something or other and then midway in you're like wait is this real are people really getting murdered and then yes they are so yeah that's its own sub sub genre now are you all haunted house people we've been to one Somebody mentioned that earlier this year because they were going to go to one of the ones around here. And I went, I'm like, I've I in general, obviously, I'm a whore dork enough that I should care about it.
So I like the general vibe of it. My thing is they're always so expensive. They're hella expensive. And like I've been to most of the main one. I'm sure there are new ones now.
I haven't because I haven't been in years now, but. for a while there were a main set of like five or six. And like, I, at some point over the years been to all those. So I'm like, well, I've kind of seen them. I mean, yes, they'll change up some of the individual themes of the year, newer monster that's in a movie or something. But I was like, otherwise I've kind of seen what they do and they're really expensive and usually nobody else wants to go.
So it's just like, eh, I ended up not going most of the time. Well, and the line is forever long. Yeah. The last one I went to, we were in line, I want to say four and a half hours. And that was just in the outside part of the line.
I was in line so long I could watch the food truck that I was promised I was going to get to have after the haunted house. I watched them serve customers and then close for the evening. So I was sad walking into the haunted house. Because it smelled so good. It was tacos of some sort.
Oh, that's sad. It was sad. That's the real horror. Yeah, that is the sad part of that story. And then I was in and out of the house in 15 minutes after waiting for God.
Knows how long. Yeah, exactly. Good Lord. Yeah, I love horror movies and spooky books and all that stuff. I have never done a haunted house.
I don't like the idea of some people jumping out at me. I don't need it. Well, now we know next year's on location. We're definitely going to have to be recording live inside whatever. I was going to say one that I think closed like 70 years ago, so I won't say.
I did work at one when I was in college, and it was cool for the first week. Yeah. And then it was just a lot of, you know, jumping out. Waiting to get hit in the face. Well threatened with getting hit in the face a lot.
Exactly. As you should. Yeah. Because people should stop jumping out at other people. Well, yeah.
That's why I don't want to do it. This is also what I say as I watch the never-ending YouTube videos that pop up. And I'm just like, yeah, quit trying to scare whoever you live with. Like, just cut it out. Because they always go badly.
Somebody gets punched in the face or knocks over a fish tank. Or, like, it's the dumbest series of events that I'm just like, yeah, stop doing that shit. Just quit being an asshole. Unplug Grandma's life support. Yeah.
It's hilarious. Like. Just stop. Just cut it out. I think in addition to a haunted house next year, we should also go to a hell house.
Which I don't know if you're familiar with those either. Are those like the church ones? Those are the church ones. That would be the one that really disturbs you. I have been watching YouTube videos of those this past week.
And some of them are just ridiculously bad. And some of them are downright frightening. But all of them are dumb. I feel like we'd get in trouble for heckling. Yeah.
I think what if I showed up and just said, I'm a woman with a job. I'm a woman with a job and an interracial marriage. Oh, yeah, that too. God. Childless cat lady.
You're going to mess up these people. I voted. Oh, God. I drive a car. And I have a bank account.
Oh, my. This is out of control. I know. Scary. I'm going to have to have a talk with Pierce.
Well, he, yeah, I definitely listened to him and yeah, let him make my decision. Actually, that's not even what I was saying, but that's funny. Anyway, back to the. Anyway, going to parties and stuff. We miss you, Pierce, wherever you are.
I saw him pull out earlier. He waved and said words. It was fun. Yeah. He's probably going to buy Magic the Gathering cards.
What a nerd. Yeah, I know. So, parties. I don't want to go to them. No.
And... he said just me or backwards hat boy just looked like the douchiest guy like oh it took me the whole movie to be like all right i guess he's okay but like 30 seconds yeah from the second i was like oh no i don't like this. Guy i was like yeah he's gonna unalive this girl in like 20 minutes. Like he's got date rape vibes man i don't like this guy like this like you just got away from this asshole for a night and now you're talking to this guy no yeah So, yeah, I didn't like that at all. But eventually I was like, all right, I guess he's all right. Shit.
Of the two male characters, he's the least annoying. I guess. I mean, the other ones, at least I feel like I knew what I was getting with the other guy. This guy seemed duplicitous. I didn't like that.
But the other guy, I'm like, no, that guy's just an asshole. But at least you know where you stand with him. Ugh. So, yeah, that party, I would have loved to. Yeah.
Yeah. You know, yeah, when, jumping ahead a little bit, this was advertised as an extreme haunted house. I mean, it was very extreme by the end. Well, there are extreme things that happen, but overall it was kind of a lame, you know, I mean, the, yeah, pick. Which coffin thing. takes you the rest of the way was kind of cool.
I mean if people weren't getting murdered i guess it would have been like a normal yeah like again that's why i like i go and i'm like i appreciate the effort they put in for all these things but i'm always just like yeah cool like i don't know it's like i'm not running through screaming and like just like oh that's kind of gross all right like i don't know it's just like a different way to process it i guess but i'm always just like well it looks like it took them a long time to do that like Another reason I don't think I go to these. I'm just not responding normally. I'm like, yeah, yeah, look at all the effort you put into this. That seems like a lot of work. Anyway, next room.
So yeah, I mean, I guess, I feel like that's where I could feel the very realistic making of the movie. It's just like, they had an empty, wasn't it like an empty dairy farm or something? Like a big giant building that they had. And like, because I mean, the walls are pretty much just pallets. Yeah.
For most of the building it's like just concrete walls and floors pallets screwed to the wall and then whatever gimmicky thing they had in that room so i was just like that way i'm like yeah you could almost afford to do this and like especially when you don't have to see anything once you get there like everything is self-contained it's dark outside so you don't have to see anything off in the distance everything else is in this building so i'm like i feel like i see the budget and i'm not complaining i think it looked pretty good yeah as far as you know budget wise for I'm assuming a pretty limited budget. They made it look good, but yeah. Would I have been impressed with the haunted house minus the murders?
Eh, it would have been fine, I guess. Yeah. Those wood coffins were pretty cool. Like, if I could take one home. But other than that, yeah.
I kind of agree. Would you be weirded out when that sign magically popped up? Oh, yes. Yes. Because that was a little weird as they didn't really seem to know where the hell they were going.
And then suddenly, a magical sign appears. Spooky. Well, a couple of things about that. Number one, the sign appears out of nowhere. They've already been sitting there for...
Could be 20 minutes, could be an hour. I wasn't really paying attention a whole lot to this movie at that point. Sign all of a sudden pops up. You go up this abandoned road. And then.
The key that I've decided which haunted house to avoid is the one where you don't. See people coming out. Yeah. If you see people milling around out front, that's one thing. But if you don't see anybody coming back out, you should be like, hmm, maybe this is not for us.
If I were them, I would just be concerned because as you stated in your story there, I mean, there was no line there. They pulled up, there was like six cars in the parking lot, and I'm assuming that was all of them working inside. I was like, I feel like I'd be a little more concerned that no one is here. Well, I thought that they showed like two people standing out front when they pulled in. But I could have been in the midst.
Of a few people. Just other people that worked there on break. Yeah, well, they hear the scream inside. So I presume that was the group before them. But then...
Given how long it takes for them to go through this group that we're with. That was my thought midway through. I was like, so is this like this every time? Or is this like a one-off that's going weird for them? Because yeah and how do they control that nobody else showed up and it's like ready to go next.
Well clearly i mean this was well what i will say from working at the haunted house um you know it's counterintuitive but halloween night is a dead night yeah people people are out with their kids parties you know You'll get a couple people show up real late when all the other fun stuff's done. But for the most part, you're literally just standing around listening to the theme from Halloween on. A loop for like the thousandth time. So that, because I did think about that too. I was like, man, they're not hustling people through.
So I guess they were just having an off night and they were taking their time. They were enjoying their craft. I would think maybe this was how you get the line going. Except later we saw outside again and there wasn't one. But I was like, if everyone takes an hour and a half for all of this to go on, that line would build up pretty good.
And then they'd seem super cool and popular. Oh, that's true. Oh, man, look at this line. That's like four and a half hours. This must be a great haunted house.
No, they're just murdering people. It takes a while, you know. So. would you want to go into one that has a waiver signing situation? You already said you don't want to go anyway. No.
No signing of waivers. You're not taking my phone. Mostly I just don't trust people with your phone because they're going to steal it. Yeah, no. None of that.
Yeah. I would have been out on that one. Yeah. Every now and then I read about those, the real extreme. That you have to sign a waiver.
Where they throw dirt at people and some people have been what I would consider to be sexually assaulted by the people working there. And they have to sign all sorts of waivers. And I'm like, no, I'm going to nope out on that one, guys. That doesn't seem fun at all. Thanks, bud.
Right. You want me to pay you to do this? No. I don't like that at all. And there was no pay.
I would have been also curious as to why they weren't charging me at this particular haunted house. Yeah, I guess that never really came into play, did it? They just sort of... Well, again, if the person running it doesn't speak, I guess there's not a whole lot of questions you can have clarified. Nothing is free anymore.
And people are so used to going, okay, but how much is it? There'd be like a half hour of the... But no, really, what are we... No, seriously. Can I Venmo you?
Yeah. And he just stands there looking at them, and. You're like, Like, are you going to record me and put it on your social media? Probably. That's in the waiver, don't worry.
Yeah. And that would be another thing that I would be concerned about, is if they didn't have a clause about social media on there. Because I should be running my, you know, phone through the whole thing, streaming it out the whole way. I can't do that when you take my phone away. Exactly.
What are my followers going to think? They can't experience this with me. No. Otherwise, what do we think of our basic crew? I mean, we kind of have...
We don't go into anyone, really. Like, we barely get a little on our lead girl. And everybody else is like nothing, really. Well, I'll start with the sloppy filmmaking. And I knew, like, when they're all sitting around and the girl's, like, bleeding out of her arm or whatever.
And our, I guess, lead? I mean, she's definitely a final girl. She's like... She's like, I grew up in a haunted house. And I thought, oh, here's where.
We cram all the exposition into one scene. And again, this is talking about real world stuff. If somebody would have said that, I'd have been like, dude, shut up. We need to get out of here. I'll listen to.
Your sad story later. I'm sorry your dad sniffed glue while you watched or whatever. Yeah. I mean, that airplane clue is pretty good stuff. I didn't want to go too overboard.
Well, I mean, we already had like a weird red flag of her at the beginning. Be like, nope, had a great childhood. My family was great. I was like, okay, you're overselling this. Something obviously was not so great.
You know, are your parents dead? Are they not dead? Do you just not speak to them? Do you love them? Make up your mind.
Because they keep cramming that down our throats too. Yeah. And she keeps changing answers. Well, I don't talk to my parents either. Actually, mine are dead.
Oh. No, they're not dead. Or maybe one's dead. I don't know. Yeah, I don't know.
We never really know what happens down that road. No. Maybe they're both dead. I still don't... But hadn't she been gone for like four years?
Which she didn't seem that old. She didn't seem like it was four years of college. Didn't she seem like a sophomore or something? She didn't seem like the entire run of her schooling because she didn't seem that old. Well, then now I'm thinking about the part at the end.
We'll talk about that later. I was like, did she just run away and then she was living on the street and decided to go to college? Is that how that works? I don't think so. Was she living with Bailey?
I feel like I should point out something at this point. I have learned from experience that any movie that is made in any way by the person who produced this movie, if I go in with zero expectations, I might enjoy myself for a little bit. So that's what happened last. Night when I watched it. I enjoyed it a little bit.
I will say overall I enjoyed it. I think I went back to watch some of the other stuff again to try to clarify because there is some gray area in the... I mean, I guess on purpose. I feel like they almost don't explain things maybe in a good way really they don't over explain things with what's going on but I think when I went back through I did notice a little more that seemed like they did take time to do specific things so there are aspects of it I think were relatively impressive um yeah I mean otherwise it was just kind of a fun Halloween movie I don't think I put too much into it going in I just kind of watched it through and didn't think that much of it the first time but The more I went into it, I was like, all right, they've done this and this part's pretty good.
So there are aspects that are pretty well done. Yeah, I had fun with it. I really did. I also had fun yelling at it as it went on, you know, towards the end. Of the movie.
Mine are just the normal basic things that don't make any sense. Why would you have cat ears and then give away your cat ears? Yeah. Just so later we can be like, we've already been here because there's the cat ears. I guess.
I don't know. Even that barely makes sense. Because we knew he was going backtracking the whole way. That was the whole point of it. So we knew we'd already been there.
So we didn't really need the cat ears thing. Yeah, and the big jumping out skeleton was kind of an easy thing to remember. Yeah. I mean, he's sideways in the middle of the hallway. Like, yeah, I think we would have remembered that.
So why would you give away your cat? It's not like, oh, there's that crack on that second floorboard from the door. You know, right over there to the left. I don't know. Those are the kind of minor things that I'm like, but no, why would you do that?
So anything before we get to the real torture? Because that's where it takes the turn of like, all right, first we watch them burn a stranger girl's face. And then pretty quickly we end up with one of their own. I think it's a little more than that. I will say I couldn't tell the difference between what the safe and the not safe path was in the maze.
I think they were just making fun of it. Yeah. Because it was pretty much the same. Just different. One had cool funhouse mirrors and the other one had fake guts.
Yeah. That was a weird game too. Yeah, noodles, grapes, or razor blades. Which again, that's the old time party favor games, but I don't want to play it there. I didn't want to play it, you know, as a kid.
No. I don't want to play it in a weird stranger place with a bunch of strangers that also you have no idea where you're shoving your arm into. And the dude ate the grape. Yeah, that was another one of those moments. I was like, did you just, no.
Regardless of, even at that point, you know, yeah, you don't know anything about this spoopy haunted house you're in but how many other people have touched those grapes yeah what were they else were they touching before first of all you don't know where that grape's been second of all how many people have touched it before you so many many reasons where they put it to not. Eat a grape random stranger grapes don't eat them there's your there's your psa for. This there was also before we got to the actually um torture or whatever, one of the guys said, the only thing that would scare Bailey is if they defunded Planned Parenthood. And then I paused and went, ha! Joke's on you, Bailey!
That would be so crazy! I mean... What a nightmare! I guess the only thing to take away is she doesn't have to worry about that as it turns out. Face your fears, Bailey!
You're not going to have to have that situation come up, Bailey. It's all happening. So that was fun. She's dead, so she didn't have to worry. Oh, well, lucky her.
That was my voice. She doesn't have to worry about it anymore. Lucky you, those who. Live here is the horror so so since you said you definitely want to do this haunted house how good are you on the tunnel crawling bad because that's another one at that point i'm just like is that did i sign on for tunnel crawling i don't know that seems like like when you sign on for spelunking or something like that. Should be a warning like caution this attraction contains strobe lights and tunnel crawling.
I need to know if i'm gonna have to crawl around in. A tunnel and bags of fluid that just leak. Yeah yeah seemingly for no reason but eventually i guess that was the reason i don't know i was just like what is this the is this the kramer oil ball idea what is he making up there it's like what is this nonsense. Just some bags of oil and. Eventually i guess that's why they were there i don't know it seems pretty dumb so yeah i think that's it at that point we just get into torture and murder so i do feel like they sold pretty well once we get to that as much as i had issues with even backwards hat boy He was pretty good.
I went back watching that today. I was like, he's pretty good in this scene. They're all pretty shaken up, almost believably, but yet don't know what the hell to do at that point. Okay, now we already couldn't get out. Now we can't get out and we just watched him murder our friends.
Now what do we do? And I think it took him all of, what, 30 seconds to lose the key? Well, it was spooky. Yeah, I agree. It was very spooky.
That part with the ghosts was one of the better, like. Just visually represented. It was cool. And then the way that they set it up, where every time it switched the angle, they would be there, they wouldn't be there. They popped up out of nowhere.
Like, so that whole scene was pretty impressive. So I guess if you were going to drop it, that would be the place. You'd drop it. Well, before that, we have the witch and poor Mallory part. Which I do think is actually scary.
Yeah, yeah. And again, looked good. That was the one watching the pitchfork go in. I was just like, oh, that's pretty good. As gore goes, that was not bad.
Like, oh no. Oh yeah, okay. Then we get ghost guy. That's what I at least wanted to address. The old school costumes for their people were pretty cool.
Yeah. Specifically the ghost. Like the ghost may be the most impressive one. And at first I was just like, eh, it's kind of weird. And then I was like, no, that's pretty creepy.
It's pretty creepy. So I did like, and that's one of those when then you start asking like, so is that? Like, each of their things that come up seem like they're not the way it normally should go. So I'm like, so does he always come out and get involved? Is he always, oh, somebody got hurt, let me help you.
Like, is that always part of it? Or was this a weird one-off for them? Yeah. And the same thing once she was like, okay, but I want your keys. Then I'm like, so that changes everything for the whole rest of the night.
So I'm like, does somebody always get the keys? Like, is that part of the game every time? Or is this now, okay, everybody, you know, get on the radio. Let everybody know. She's going to be able to open and close whatever lock she wants.
So we have to change the way we plan this attack. So I don't know. That was one of those. I was like, how much do these things factor in every time? Yeah.
That's a good question. Or I wasn't even sure if there's an every time. I was like, as we got into it, I was like, is this just for them? Like, especially when we kind of thought the other dude was involved. I was like, is this something weird that he set up just to mess with his girlfriend that he wants to beat the hell out of?
That would be so elaborate. And murder her friends. And I was just like, I mean, that's pretty elaborate, dude. But, you know, you aren't assholes. Yeah, why not?
So they at least set that up. That'll teach her, but in a fun holiday way. Yeah. She'll learn her lesson with pumpkins. Everybody likes a good scare.
Yeah. And murder her friends, you know. Nelson agrees. So yeah, that's one of those that at that point, I'm like, how much of this is, because you didn't trust him even from the, oh, somebody's hurt. And like, okay, yeah.
Yeah. So you didn't trust him, but then at the same time, the whole way through, like, so how much of this is part of the scripted plan and how much of this is like just happening and you're just kind of rolling with it. So I don't know. Cause then later we get somebody that breaks character and I think that was real, I guess. I assume it.
I mean, he didn't have long enough to make good one way or the other. So it seemed real enough. And I would assume that's also why they took him out. We never figured out what they were going to give him. Yeah.
He would have gotten his mask. Free tattoos. I guess. Do we want to jump to that? Or wait until we get further along?
I don't know. The whole plan, if there is one. Because that was my thing when I watched the first time through. But at the end, I was just like, what? Why are they?
What? Why? It definitely is one where you have to, you can't be thinking about that. Yeah, the question why did come up a lot. But then I would stop it.
I wouldn't be like, why are they doing that? It was just, what? You know what? Never mind. Yeah.
But it looks cool. Well, that was my thing because I was like, well, it's so well executed once they get into this that it's like, okay, it's cool that they're this committed to it and they're this organized about some of these things that they're doing. But then I was like, but shouldn't all that be a pretty big why? Yeah. For it to be, and then we don't really get the answer exactly, which I couldn't decide how I felt about that.
I don't think I want to know. In a way, I was like, if it was really elaborate and a big, long scene of them explaining it, I'm just like, oh, God. Yeah. So, like, maybe I don't want that. But I wouldn't want to not know at all, because that would make no sense.
So we just got just enough of a tease of, so maybe it's something like this. I don't know. Anyway. So that's pretty much all we got. Mm-hmm.
I do always get creeped out by the scene where Mitch takes his, when he's like, do you really want to see my face? And he has it like three times. It's cool. He's like, do you still want to see my face? I was like, Oh, that's, that's pretty creepy.
I don't. I don't think I do. Yeah. Especially with the mask. Like again, the mask gets creepier the more you look at it the whole time.
I'm like, Hey, that's a pretty. So I think his crossed over. I'm like, I think he's just doing like extreme plastic surgery. Like, Mitch had some weird stuff going on there. Not that all of them didn't, but...
Yeah. Yeah. And then the hammer. Yeah, that seemed like a really inefficient way to kill a person with a hammer, but. You gotta take their face off.
Gotta see what's going on underneath their mask. Yeah. Scary. I did think that once we at least saw a few of them in the again, trying to piece together if that's part of it, I was like, if you wanted to, you could make that almost like super old school 80s take on it of like, so here's these clean cut kids and they come in and these tattooed weirdos with their piercings and implants and whatever else they're getting done with the shit in their face. What do they do?
They just kill these poor innocent kids. So I was like, yeah, I mean, that's, That's definitely what's presented here if you want to look at it from that perspective. So, yeah, tattooed weirdos. That's what'll get you in trouble. Every time.
Yep. So how about the crawl back through the tunnel plan? I think that was a bad floor plan. It is a plan. I don't know that it's a good plan, but...
Because there was still a way through. Because even that was at their point of like, we'll just go a little further and we'll try to get this. So they could have kept going. Instead, they went with the crawl back through plan, which I guess. Yeah, dude was even like, you're most of the way through.
You're further from the beginning than you are in the end. I don't know how much I trust him, but at the same time, they'd been going for a while, so that's probably true. Or just like, let's open the trap door and then I'll go through that way. That takes us out the. I don't know.
I don't know. I guess there is no good plan. That's the takeaway. The good plan would be not to keep throwing away your weapons. He had the nail gun.
How many nails are in a nail gun? A shit ton. Where did he just find a nail gun? But then he doesn't have it anymore. I know.
Did you put that down and left it? Well, it clearly worked when he used it, so... That's not gonna help the movie. It's a plug-in model. He couldn't take it with him.
Yeah. And then they go to another room where there's, like, the knife gate or whatever. Like, rip... I'd be ripping out those bad boys and, like, Wolverining with my kitchen knives. Come on.
Be resourceful. You're surrounded by weapons. I mean... They did pretty well for not being that resourceful, really. Because they hung on for a while, a good amount of them.
I mean, they took out those two girls, but then the rest of them almost hung around until the end there, and then.... Well, I had a bad feeling about that, because they kill the first girl, and then we go at least a half an hour before the second one dies, and it's like, oh, great, they're going to cram them all in at once, which is more or less what happened. Sometimes you just got to pitchfork people. Yeah, yeah. I will say I did not see that coming.
Well, that came later, but when they pitchforked the one girl who... turned out to be the good guy and you thought she was disguised as the bad guy i know i was impressed but i was like good thinking on your part sad i mean yeah sad she died. Well yeah it's also a good reason to share your location with someone pierce and i share our locations. Like your abusive boyfriend yeah you should always share your location i mean he had her track from day one anyway so yeah it's true but it's hard to do when they steal your phone. So yeah So I'd know if he was getting murdered somewhere. Well, you know, what was funny about that was a couple of minutes before that, they showed the dude putting three of the four cell phones into the microwave, which is a lot more dangerous than that movie portrayed it to be, but whatever.
Yeah. But, you know, my girlfriend's sitting there watching it with me, and she was like, why did he not put the one... You know, why did he leave one out? And then two minutes later, you see the guy tracking... And I'm like, well, that's why.
Because otherwise, obsessive boyfriend couldn't figure out her location. And this movie is sloppily made. Well, it was... Yeah. Well, again, like, it was the real world thing of, like, when he got, like, an inch away from it and stopped.
And then, like, went and hid. Or just grab it and go hide. You're right there. It'd be different if it was, like, two feet away and you don't have time. But I'm like, he was right on top of it and stopped.
And I was like, just right there. Just In the time you're hanging there, you could be holding it already. Yeah. But I guess he thought he'd notice. I'm like, well, at that point, you're busted either way.
Right. Call 911 real fast. Right. Like, what the hell? Just call 911 and holler.
Yeah. Yeah. We're in a haunted house. FaceTime. Turn the camera towards the guy.
That guy. That guy right there. The clown guy. Look, he's got a clown. He's a lame clown.
Come find the lame clown. We have a bucket. Wouldn't you just dump the bucket out? Maybe that was me. I was just like, why?
Because it's just hanging there over the floor. It's not like it's a pit into nowhere. Honestly, that was my concern at first. Maybe it was in Temple of Doom. It was some sort of weighted thing.
And if she just dumped it out instead of digging through it, like a trap door would open, but instead it went up through the ceiling and had no bearing on really anything. So, yeah. Was that before or after the childhood trauma escape room? I think before, because that's how she got the flashlight to lead her to. Oh, that's what was in there.
Yeah, she got the flashlight there. Because I was about to ask, what was even in the bucket? But it was, yeah, a flashlight. Yeah, because then there's the knife curtains. Which again was a, I mean, it was a convincing setup in that moment where she looked over, but like the way they shot it was convincing enough in that moment of her.
But like, again, real world, like had she not looked over at the appropriate time, like the whole gimmick of it. I mean, the sawing of it only works if you know she's, that the person sawing that. Right. For you to go, oh, I have to run and try to get through in time. And like, so it, yeah, it. it happened right this time.
But again, how many times does it just fall down and nobody knew he was over there? And that one, I was like, well, just let it fall and then go over and grab all around it. Yeah. And that seems a lot to have to reset. Possibly multiple times.
Which is why I questioned, I was like, is this just one time? This is just their whole night. They're just like, let's just pick some kids and terrorize them all night and then we'll call it a night. Yeah. Go get food.
Because there's a lot of them. It's a whole operation. Well, and bad guy characters kept showing up, like new ones. And ones you'd forgotten about came back. It's like, what are they doing in the meantime?
Having coffee. Go to the break room, yeah. They were the ones out in the parking lot when they got there. Just people standing around being like, did you see that guy we murdered earlier? Yeah.
Can you believe this job? Minimum wage. I'm telling you, man. I'm on my feet all night. Yeah.
You know how many times I've gotten stabbed? No health insurance. So yeah, I guess that's also around when we get to the boyfriend phone. So do we want to address the reappearance of the boyfriend? Sure.
So what were your issues with it? Well, my issues are, like I said, they cram in that bit about how, oh, you know, I grew up in a haunted house and now it's come full circle because now I'm in, which, you know, I say that like I'm making fun of abuse and The Cycle of Abuse, which I'm not. Just its presentation. Saying that they crammed it into the movie when it really had no effect on the storyline. Because then the guy shows up and he's, you know, and you think, okay, well, it's a good thing Stalker Boyfriend was stalking, stalkering her for the first time ever in history of that happening.
And then he is so completely ineffective that he's killed like 30 seconds after he gets to the haunted house. Which I thought was funny. He was like, yeah, that guy sucks, so. Right, but from a storytelling standpoint, his presence did nothing to progress the plot along. I mean, it gave them a way out eventually.
Because at first I was like, why is this here? But the truck for them to escape in was the only purpose that he served, really. Because my thing that was more disturbing was when we see them send out the signal where she is, and then we see him look at him and we're like, wait, are we going to have him be the hero now? Yeah. Because I'm not okay with this movie if that's what happened.
Yeah. If suddenly we're rooting for abusive boyfriend, no, I'm out. So thankfully, that's why I was like, at least hopefully he gets murdered as soon as he walks out. Oh good, he's dead. So yeah, because I was like, I can't get on board with this movie if suddenly he's going to come and rescue her.
I was like, no, no, no, no, no. So yeah, that was my main concern. Yeah. Thankfully he was murdered. He was unalived rather quickly.
Yeah. Which I thought was funny. But that's, you know, that's... But that was, I guess, the only. Whatever.
That was the only takeaway, though, right? Because had he... Right. Because their car was messed up. They were just walking on the road after that.
I guess there was no real escape for them had he not been sitting there with a running truck. Why would you leave it running, dumbass, when you go inside to look for it? That was the part that he just left it in the. Middle of the road. You're just giving away your truck?
For some people, turning ignition keys is really hard. I guess so. He didn't seem real bright. You know, Sally made it. Through the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and she ran off on foot.
Yeah. She got a ride from, she did get a ride from a passerby, but yeah. They could have ran and then someone stopped and then they jump in. Yeah. Yeah.
We didn't need all that. Or they could do it a different way. She has an older brother who, you know, something we didn't. Yeah. Yeah.
So was he a cool older brother or he was the. One abusing her? No, he probably abused her also. No. In my version, he's a cool older brother and he survives.
Yay. That would be nice. But yeah, because then we, to connect to that, then we go to the childhood trauma escape room. Yay. Which is also, does not fit at all with the rest of the house.
The abandoned factory. But those are such a thing. I can kind of see it. It's more troubling when it was like it said escape room. And I'm like, so don't go in that door.
You're just going to get locked in there and have to do a bunch of stupid puzzle shit. It's just like how convenient that they knew your entire backstory and built this room just for you. Well, that's what I was curious about. It's like, was this a coincidence? Or did they build all this for her?
Because then we have to have the flashback where she's like, You know, Daddy used to hit Mommy. Yeah. I don't know. I feel like creepy kid room with dolls in it is in every haunted house, right? Absolutely.
That's fair. It just also happened to be the escape room. But I don't feel like it was tailored specifically for her abusiveness. But she had to hide. She just had those flashbacks because she had that.
But they had her get under the bed for no other reason I can think of than to remind her of when this is where she used to hide from Daddy. This is also one of those moments when I'm like, okay, you're trying to get up to the top. Why did you start all the way at the bottom and crawl a long way? Like you could just walk to the side and reach down and be like, Oh, here's the thing I was going to get. Like, I was just like, this is the dumbest way to go about this.
And the most likely that you're going to get like grabbed. Cause you're spending 10 times longer crawling along the floor. Yeah. I was just like, that doesn't make any sense. Just walk up there and reach down and grab it.
Like it's a single bed. It's not even like it was some sort of, giant california king you had to crawl around. Under like you just go to one side yeah flip it over in case there's something under there waiting for you. A secret although there is something that makes me laugh every time about just a gun the whole thing is like curtain of knives razor blades little thing you stick. Your arm into a guy's.
Neck and then just a gun well i also like but it was like a rigged up gun the one at the end i was just like I don't know that those guys are swift enough to put together this mechanical system that not, I mean, if it just fired it once, sure. But it re-cocked it and like had it ready for another round. And it was synced up with the pop goes the ring. With the song, yeah. I was like, I don't know that these guys are that swift.
Like, I don't, it seems like it would be really hard to get one that would re-cock your gun for you and have it ready for another go without getting screwed up. Yeah, it did it like five or six times. Like, Yeah. It just seems not fair. It seems a little unlikely.
He'd have a gun. Although, I mean, it does make for a fun scene when the chainsaw zombie comes back and then they saw off the shotgun. That's fun, but it just seems unfair. I mean, when you're murdering people, you use whatever you want. Sometimes you just want to shoot somebody.
And then later when they get out, the other guy has a pistol. I'm like, what? You just have guns? Anyway. Anyway.
That's later. There should have been a speech. I don't like to use these because they're not elaborate and time consuming. Yeah. Well, and if they're filming it in Kentucky, I bet one of the chances those teens have guns.
Any random person walking around is packing. Yeah, those guns weren't even in the script. They just don't know. How they got them. The actors just showed up.
And they were like, oh, I mean, I'm going to keep wearing this. Somebody was like, dude, nice side piece. And he was like, what? Oh. Yeah.
Just put it on with my shoes every day. With the whole gun and the door, who's resetting that every time. It goes off? That's what I'm saying. It's very elaborate.
Because they even seem to forget that it was there. Yeah. That's the other thing. Like, we never got anybody in, like, a control room that was making sure all of this stuff was... Because, like I said, they're doing it backwards.
They're doing it with keys. So they're doing it different than, in theory, every other person that's come through there. So, like, somebody would have to be figuring out how to reroute things to make it still happen if it's supposed to happen like this. But, yeah, we never really see any of that. The clown's seemingly in charge and he just wanders around and...
Lights things on fire eventually. But other than that, doesn't seem to be in charge of anything. Who's actually in charge? Which member of this brain trust put all this together? Again, there's the question.
Do you want a 20-minute monologue explaining that with flashbacks? Kind of. I mean, I can't... You'd have to... Tasks would have to be assigned.
Follow-through would have to be implemented. I mean, I don't see any of those people making sure that all the things that are necessary to make this a smooth running operation are in place like they need to be. There's no oversight here. This is pretty much just us reverting back to the murder fest. I'm just yelling at the movie.
Hell fest, blood fest, whatever that one was the whole time. We were just like, but it was... paying all these people to go there and who's watching this when it yeah so that thought did occur there's a lot of practical questions when these things come into play i. Do i mean yeah if we get into that then i do wonder like how do they go to the grocery store. That's what you make yourself look like that well see that's what i said i was like that was the funny part at first before we got i was like when we get to the demon looking guy that i was just like So tonight, you're the coolest dude on earth. But every other day of the year, you're the guy in front of me at the grocery.
Yeah. And you're just like, yeah. Sometimes 360. Yeah, you still need to buy bread though, don't you, weirdo? Yeah, exactly.
So you're just a dork that hangs out at the mall and looks like that anyway. So it only works under your creepy circumstances. The rest of the time, you're just a weird looking dude. Yeah. But then as the reveal came, the Dracula dude was the one that didn't have all that weird stuff.
And they sent him out shopping. So the rest of them could all look as weird as they want and I guess hang out there by themselves all day. I'll give them credit. There were times that they did answer questions that needed to be answered. But I thought they weren't going to be answered.
But the way they were, the times that they answered them, it was almost as if somebody was writing the screenplay and then as the pages were being written, somebody was coming along behind him and reading them and saying, oh, hey, man, what about this part? How do they, like, go buy supplies? Who buys stuff? I mean... Oh, wait, hold on.
Oh, I'm going to create this little character. Good idea. Let me write something. And Dracula enters and says, I buy stuff. I didn't mean to kill anybody.
My bad. Yep. Yeah. Probably so. Sometimes you got to address the questions, you know, as they come up.
I honestly hope there's a very serious script out there somewhere. That says suddenly a Dracula. A Dracula. I mean, I would assume there's one in your house in a notebook, right? I mean, there will be now.
Yes. That will be the crux of the whole. People will be like, why did you write this? Well, I mean, I needed to get to the Dracula. That's the important part.
So by the time we get to the end, she just starts, like she's made it a good run, but then she gets a whole lot of stuff that happens at once. And then doesn't seem to affect her that much, really. Well, as we all know, shotgun wounds really only hurt for about five minutes. First, she gets a nail through the foot. And doesn't really seem to limp much in her running the rest of the time.
Not to mention her hands ripped off, essentially. The entire palms of her hands. I forgot all about that. Yeah. And they kind of did, too.
Because later, until we get to the end and she's bandaged up, you're like, oh, yeah, that's right. Her hands were all messed up. Yes. She just sort of functions okay otherwise and then gets shot as well. So it's a lot to deal with in a short span of time.
And kills her best friend. Yeah. Oops. Friendly fire, you know. Sometimes when you're in a murder house, you accidentally kill your friends.
I mean, I figure that's how I'll go out. Yeah, it does seem. One of my friends will think I'm the bad guy and stab me. But I will not be like, oh, that's okay. I'll be like, you jackass.
Which also, this happened way earlier, but I just remembered, stop it, Nelson. You are being a monster boy. He started it. Weird. Which reminds me of earlier, why did she feel entitled to take her friend's mom's ring as part of her Halloween costume?
That's rude. Don't do that. That's not yours. Especially when the girl was like, don't take that. That's my mom's.
And if she was like, I'm a fancy rich lady, not cat girl. Why does cat girl need a ring? You don't need that. It doesn't make any sense with your costume. I don't even know how you would get a ring on a cat.
I'm looking at his toes right now. Don't touch me. I think it would just be bad for all of us. Keep your jewelry to yourself. So by that point, he's burning down the building.
He's lighting his oil bags on fire or whatever the hell those were there for. I guess the plan was at the end of the night, burn it all down. Like that's not going to. Draw more attention to it. We're going to find all the bodies.
I know. Or I guess they were putting them in barrels. Again, what was the good plan? Because at this point, they lost a bunch of their people. But had they just murdered all the kids like they wanted and they were all going to go hit Denny's afterwards?
Burn the building down and go get food? Was that the plan? Like, Is this like a traveling thing where they go to different places? They just build a new one every Halloween, burn it down, and then move to another town next year. His reaction, right before he set the place on fire, was kind of the way I react when I lose my last person in Ms.
Pac-Man. It's like, you know, I'm disappointed, but I had fun. It's time to burn the salt. As the arcade is in flames. Oh, many of the arcades have gone up in flames.
You're like, well, I had fun. Screw you guys. Once I hit that last pack life. But, yeah, this seems like an entire life's work situation. And he's just like, well, just burn it down.
We'll start again tomorrow. Yeah. Yeah. And I understand burning it down if you're trying to, like, you say, well, this is how we'll dispose of the bodies. Yeah.
But you're putting them. In barrels, which. Well, you gotta keep them, you know, fresh. Yeah, but the barrels probably don't burn as well as if they're just laying around. Probably not.
But yeah, I don't know what the plan, like on any good version, I don't know what their plan was. Because it seemed like if the oil was there, it was always burn it down. Yeah. But again, if it went well, you were just burning it down, move to another town. Or now it didn't go well because all my friends are dead.
So just screw it, burn it down. You have to very carefully take the oil balloons back down and put them in the back of your truck. That's good oil. Save that. Yeah, I'll need it for the next one.
Yeah. There's so many problems with all of that. Because it's like how... That seems like a delicate operation to just lift the bags up there. I know.
Well, how do you even find bags that aren't going to break with all that stuff? Well, oil is a corrosive material. I mean, it eats through plastic. It was dripping. It was dripping.
It's true. So, I mean, I guess that was their plan was just to burn it down all. But that would also be, and they did mention that, that it is expensive. Yeah. It's more expensive than paint.
That's why I'm like, why not just gasoline? I don't know. If you're just going to burn it down, just go buy some containers of gasoline and do the same thing without the elaborate roll bag system. Gasoline does smell and you don't want your patrons... You don't want them getting on Yelp talking about headaches.
If you're going to murder them. Although they wouldn't have had time because they took their phones. Yeah. Yeah. How far did that one Yelp review get through?
Maybe they planted that so there would at least be one well. I like to think that they got all the way through and then they were like. Hey Red Cross I mean he did say that he's like right towards the end he's like you think you're the only one that's gotten this far and I'm like so again this seems like it does go on multiple times and is an ongoing thing but that means you guys suck if other people got that far because this seems like a weird one off that they were like somehow put one over on you but like no, you guys are this bad every time. Yeah, if this has happened before, then we need to regroup. Yeah, you're not doing your job right, because there's a whole bunch of you, and you're organized and planned, and these are dumb kids that aren't planning for this, so you really should be able to murder them pretty easily.
Like, after the first time, don't have Midge carry around all of his keys. Yeah, yeah. If he's the plant that's going in, then yeah, don't really give him the keys. Yeah, these are some easy things we could do to tighten it up. Yeah.
But, You know, I mean, I think it would be fun to watch some people get a little further, you know. It's like, oh, this guy, I almost feel bad for killing him. Well, gotta go kill him then. I mean, this does seem like it would be a reality show at this point. Yeah.
Is there not a survival Halloween house themed? I avoid reality shows, so I don't know, but I would assume by now. Yeah. I mean, they've got the competition shows of like your house being big and dumb and decorated, but I don't know if I've seen one where it's more or less like a try to survive and get through, which seems like it should be a thing. So if not, maybe we should pitch this.
I think like back in the day, MTV had some show that was like, I mean, it wasn't like in a haunted house, but you know, they have like fear factor, but extreme or whatever. And then I know if you've ever seen Dragula, the horror drag competition show, which is awesome, usually in the season premiere, they'll make all of them go through a haunted house in full drag. So many screams. Yeah, and they're like, ah! Yeah, so that's fun, but that's just one episode.
In the haunted house, we used to get organizations that would come through. It was usually like youth groups. Um, we never had a group of, of drag Queens come in. We did have a couple of biker. Gangs go through, which was interesting, but we had a group come through one time.
Also a lot of high pitch screams. Yeah. We had a group that came through that were all deaf. And it's got to change. Interesting.
I didn't know that until they'd already been through my room because I was like, I was giving these guys my best stuff and nothing. They're just signing yells. Yeah. Yeah. But right after they went through, the director of the house came through.
He's like, oh, there's a group of deaf people. They can't hear anything. So make sure they see you. And I'm like, oh. Visual scares.
That information would have been good five minutes ago. Yeah. Yeah, they really should plan a little ahead on that one. A little heads up would be nice. Yeah.
So they escape. They go to the hospital. We may or may not. Have a clue. Friday the 13th, all right.
I was going to say, we may or may not have a wrap-up. Or just a dream sequence. Yeah, a dumb dream sequence. But then again. But then it actually happens.
Sort of. Kind of. Right? Yeah. Maybe.
I think. And one of you guys brought up a good point that I didn't think of while I was watching it. But why did she write down her home address instead of her college address? Yeah. Yeah.
Well, but she was also going to take a lift to her home address, right? Like, wasn't she toying with going to mom's house when she was going outside the party? Oh, yeah. So I don't know that, like, she just, I don't know, just wants to go back home. How far away is home?
That's what I'm saying. If you've been missing for four years now, like, they can't find you if you're 20 minutes away. Yeah, if you're 400 miles away and they haven't seen you in four years, okay. But if you're six blocks away. Mom's just like, go check the laundromat.
She's got to do her laundry somewhere. She could be in her bedroom. Have we checked in her bedroom? I don't like to open that door. She yells at me.
You know how teenage girls are. Yeah. So I don't know. That was a weird... I mean, not surprising.
As we got to it, I'm like, it's a dream, right? Yeah. Because it seemed very end of Nightmare on Elm Street. final dream that's not a dream that could be a dream and then he pops back out anyway so that seemed sort of dreamlike and then we get the oh yeah and. Then we get the kevin mcallister. Treatment well and then like even the nurse coming in with the release form like was she ready to go like right she still seemed like she was kind of a mess and by the way that was a that was a terrible uh wound attack attempt to It was like half coming off and barely had any gauze on it.
I was just like, girl got shot. Like at least do a good job of wrapping her up. So yeah, she did not look ready to travel, but maybe this was released from getting admitted or something. I don't know. I was like, where are the cops?
I mean, they were coming. Or was that the fire trucks? I don't know. They passed by, I thought, cops that were going that way. Yeah.
Some sort of emergency personnel. Yeah. But you'd think if she and baseball guys showed up and both had been shot. They'd at least want to get a statement, you know. Hey, by the way, how'd you get shot?
Someone would alert the cops. Why are you both of you bloody? You know, that's supposed to be on the inside, right? And that's when it comes in to be like, I can tell you exactly who did this. They have very distinguishing facial features.
By the way, most of them are dead now because we murdered them all. You can look for a clown guy. I didn't see him die. Other than that, we murdered pretty much all of them. Yeah, you'll know it's him because everywhere he goes, people go, ah, why do you look like that?
He's just like crusty at that point. Just trying to buy my chips. Let me go home and eat my chips in peace. What do you look like? Shut up.
The rest of the year sucks, man. This is why I murder people. I hope you know. Your treatment of me is why I murder. Yeah.
So, murder trap. What was that for? It's the best way to wrap it up. I guess. Might as well.
I wasn't mad at it. It's like, okay. And why were the cops called? Was it because of the big fireball that had suddenly. I'm assuming the fire is what set them off.
Because otherwise... But there's nothing... They've been murdering for hours. But there's nothing around there. There's nobody.
I mean. Cars don't even go past there. Unless they're, you know, alcoholic ex-boyfriends with, you know, stalker fetishes. Hmm. Random and nosy neighbor.
That's over there with binoculars from two miles away. What's that? I think it's on fire over there. What's that neighbor from Bewitched? Gladys.
Yeah. I think Gladys was all up in the window. I think the kids is doing some drugs over there. She's like, that abandoned factory is on fire again, Ted. We'll assume it was that.
He's like, mind your own business, woman. My thing is... Again, I'm just like, so is that the plan every time, too? Is go to their house and murder them later? Like, that's why we get your info.
In case we miss one, you know, we'll catch you later. Don't you worry about that. I guess. Because otherwise, again, like, all his friends are dead. So is it just like revenge now?
He's just like, that stupid girl murdered all my friends, messed up my haunted house. I'm going to get her. Yeah, everyone on his team is dead. The cops have no reason to assume that he's not just burned up in the. Or would know who he is.
They can't really ID him by anything other than a clown guy. If they even saw him. I don't know. We kept seeing him. So at this point, he could just pack everything up and move to Boca Raton and start anew.
No one notices when you do stuff like this in Florida. In fact, it's inspected. I mean, truthfully, there was a run of just randomly seeing clowns out on the side of the road. People were shooting videos. Could be that guy just relocating.
Yeah. So, yeah, I kind of wondered that, too. I was like, was this a one-off thing, or did they always follow up with murders that people that, again, you think you're the only one got this far, so that means other people escaped, and then they had to track them down later, which luckily they wrote down their home address. Yeah, that's why they have them fill out the form. My question to that, though, is how long did she have to wait for this guy to show up at her house?
See, that's what I was trying to say. day? Is it five years later? Is this she signed the release form and ran home immediately? And then does that mean he'd already murdered baseball hat boy's family? We can only hope.
Yeah. Well, then we don't even get, like, a big reunion with her mom or anything. Like, did she tell her? We got the dream version. Yeah.
And then she's like, hi, mom, I'm home. By the way, there's a dude coming here to kill you, so get lost. I'm going to murder him in your front lawn area. Yeah. So you're cool with that, right?
I mean. I'm going to pour a bunch of glue all over your hardwood floors. Don't worry about that. There'll be some, you know, some pieces of person stuck in it. Yeah.
You wait for it to dry and then you scrape it off. Yeah, it's fine. It's easy. I don't know. It's fine.
It was fine. Did we cover any overall issues? Again, I thought overall it still held together pretty well other than our nitpicking. Visually, I thought it was pretty good. Again, for indie and hadn't made much...
I did see what they made at the same time as this. Did you see that? Yeah, which was interesting. That was interesting. From low budget to pretty damn big budget studio movie.
A Quiet Place. Oh. Is what they were writing at the same time as this. All right. I guess they made this one and then sold A Quiet Place and big studio money got thrown at that one.
Yeah. Interesting. I think they used... some of the money that they got from, yeah, to make this. It's like their little passion project. Oh, there goes a whale.
Which is fun. I think I love the, like something about the spooky little masks and then their weird little faces. Yeah. I just find very fun. Especially the scene with Mitch and like that whole reveal, I think is always very creepy.
It's a little too quick on the murder scene. Like, I like the setup, but, like, do you still want to see my face? Yeah. It's, like, really creepy, and just the longer they hang on that, it's creepy. And then it cuts away to the rest of them and comes back, and he's already dead.
And I'm just like, I mean, we could have at least gotten the reveal of the face and then seen him murder, but it just cuts right to that. Yeah. He's already dead on the ground. I'm like, all right, I get it. That's where we thought this was going.
Yeah. It cut a little. That was one of the few, like, editing-wise, it cut too quick on that one. Mm-hmm. But there were other, like, there was one in the hallway that was, like, this really cool camera move that was minimal.
Like, it was just pulling back as they were all sort of turning around. It was like, all right, that was good. So they've definitely got some skill. So I'll be interested to see what else these two put together. Yeah.
It's a fun little Halloween gory, like, Home Alone murder trap set up. I wasn't. Largely irritated the whole time i mean most movies really i don't yeah. Uh my girlfriend feels like the movie lied to. Her well because well a lot of movies we went in the first five or ten minutes we were both like god this is awful you know we we wanted baseball hat boy to uh because we knew we knew yeah we knew he was gonna be up to no good and it turned out he was and then it Then it started to go up and up and up, and then all of a sudden it was like, there's no point in making sense of any of this.
I mean, that's almost what the film said. Eventually, yeah, by not answering any of those questions for you. So, yeah, that's where she feels like the movie lied to her. That's fair. I mean, I feel like even within the story, they were lied to.
Yeah, that's true, I guess. Real to the story. She got haunted. Yeah. She got angry.
Yeah, I think there were threats to somebody, but I'm not sure who. Probably the movie itself. I don't remember. All right. Well, there's our festive Halloween fun.
Yay. So. Have we decided that we do want to go down the road of Thanksgiving? Again, I don't guarantee it won't come out until the end of the month in November, but, you know, who cares? It's still Thanksgiving.
If you're up for it. At some point in November. Yeah. All right. Let me double check what the name of that stupid movie was.
Because I went through thinking, there's no way we haven't already watched all these stupid Thanksgiving-themed horror movies. And this one, I think, still comes off like it's a slasher. What was the one we watched? Was that just Thanksgiving? Was that what it was called?
Which, the Eli Roth one? Yeah. Yeah. Because that one I did actually enjoy. Yeah.
That was well made. Again, it was well financed, so that helps. And supposedly working on a sequel that is not out this year. So now we have to find something else instead. Home Sweet Home, 1981.
Just for your heads up, the 81 Slasher is set during Thanksgiving and follows a group set to enjoy holiday dinner with friends on their ranch. However... Uh-oh. And we'll leave it at that. However.
However, a lame football player shows up with bad hair and murders people, so. I watched the trailer. Spoilers, Munch. And, yeah, it looks ridiculous, so... Not Home Depot, Home Sweet Home.
That's what we have in store. Next holiday festivities. All right. All right. Anything else to pass along before we start?
I don't know if it's related, but apparently there's a film called Home Sweet Home Rebirth. Rebirth? We'll have to. No, apparently this is based on a Thai video game. I'm having trouble finding...
What movie did you say it was? 1980? 1980? 81. 81?
Okay. Sorry. We can continue forward. I'm going to ask you again in three weeks. Oh, yeah, I know.
We do this every time. And usually I'm like, I don't know. That's why we're supposed to write this shit down. I always write it down. Oh, wow.
Yeah. So, I don't know if you saw that. I don't even think that was the bad thing that I saw. Ooh, I'm intrigued. It doesn't look very Thanksgiving-y to me, but.
Yeah, even in the trailer, I was like, it doesn't really seem like that, but they keep calling it. One of those. Huh. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. It's going to be so bad. All right. It's going to be so bad. So there's what we have to look forward to next time around.
Yay. Home sweet home. All right. Halloween times. Enjoy them.
Enjoy them. Be safe. Be spooky. Definitely keep it spooky, yo. Don't go to any extreme haunted houses.
Maybe just don't go outside at all. Eh, that's pretty safe most of the time, if you ask me. Or I like to go in the dark when no one can see me and be around me. skulk about you know that's fine you can do that if you want just stay away from other people normal normal things yeah you know normal things i thought you meant normal people ugh stay away from normal people gross so there's your takeaway stay away from normal people otherwise that about does it we will return next time same geek feed thanks for listening Stay spooky. Thank you. You're welcome.
Happy Halloween. Happy Halloween, everybody. I can barely sleep at night. No, I can barely close my eyes. I feel your presence in my room.
Your hollow eyes and twisted smile keep taking captive of my mind. No, I can't seem to get you. Out. Just leave me alone. Don't you say that you still want me because those memories still haunt me.
You're the ghost of every thought inside my head. You keep floating through my hallways. Keep burning every highway that I drew to get away from you. Just to hear you begging me to stay, it's ringing all throughout my brain. I'm convinced that love's a curse.
And I'm try locking all my doors, but you keep coming back for more. Honey, can you see way through? Just leave me alone. Don't you say that you still want me because those memories still haunt me. You're the ghost.
Of every thought inside my head. You keep floating through my hallways. You keep burning every highway that I drew. To get away from you. Now I got another feeling for you creeping again.
It's the only kind of feeling that I want to forget. You can't try to reason for my head to spin. You tell me that you love me, but you only pretend. Got another feeling for you creeping again. It's the only kind of feeling that I want to forget.
You can't try to reason for my head to spin. Tell me that you love me, but you won't. Don't you say that you still want me because those memories still haunt me. You're the ghost of every thought inside my head. You keep floating through my hallways.
You keep burning every highway that I drew. To get away from you. That leads to other like thinking. That's not a good idea. That's what gets me in trouble.
I know. I'm telling you. I'm thinking of finding ways to just take parts of these brains out, right? I'm not using 90% of it, so I can just poke around in there and find the stuff that's throwing things off. Mexico.
Yeah, exactly. They'll do that for you, I'm sure. There's an alley with a poking area, I'm sure. Brain poking. This episode is a production of Movie Meltdown, produced and edited by the Auditude Studios. with opening music performed by the Empires.
