Meet me at the waterfront after the social. This is JT's Brain. This is Eggs Benedict. Hey, I'm Felicia Rose. And I'm Eggs Benedict.

And we want you to listen to Movie Meltdown. Movie Meltdown, Movie Meltdown, Movie Meltdown. Www.moviemeltdown.com All disclaimers and rights reserved. 1974. Thank you.

When I look. The following feature has been rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America. It is intended for mature audiences and parental discretion is advised. It's showtime, folks. Enjoy the show.

Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power. We've had a doozy of a day. A real doozy. What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Ryan.

I'm Misty. I'm Jay. And we're coming to you live via digital recording from inside the vehicle. Woo! It's coming from inside your car.

So we're heading back from Lexington, Kentucky, home of Scarefest, our longest running one. It has been so many years. It has been so many years that at this point it's just ingrained into our system. It's October, somewhere in that vicinity, time to head to Scarefest. I don't think I went last year, but I went back this year and it was a lot.

Did I go last year? You went last year. I did go last year. The year before you were out of town, I went and it was no fun because nobody was there. So, luckily this year, we went.

And it was all good. And it was fantastic. It was. Do we want to jump right to our people? OMG.

I was so excited. Because usually it takes a lot to get me into a large crowd these days. Because people. But I saw that Tyler Labine was going to be there. And I'm like, I am there.

Because I love most of the things he's done. Everything of his that I've seen, I have loved. I mean, aside from Tucker and Dale vs. Evil Reaper. One of my favorites.

Absolutely best. It's the best show ever. Fantastic. Deadbeat. Amazing.

There's another one that he did about seeing ghosts too, but I don't remember which one that one was called. But he was super excited and I showed him my tattoo from Reaper and he took a picture. I don't know if he was going to send it to Ray Wise or just put it on his Instagram. I don't know. He was going to put it on his stories or his feed or one of those things on the old Instagram.

He was super nice though. Yeah, he was like one of the friendliest people. He seemed very nice. The other thing, again, aside from all the super geeky things, I don't watch medical shows. But I think because I saw the promos beforehand and saw he was on that New Amsterdam, I think I turned it on like that first episode.

He's really good on it. Like it's a pretty entertaining show anyway, as much as I'm not really into mostly crazy hospital shows. But like that one had kind of a different take on it. And, like, his character was very different from what you normally see him do. He was, like, a grown-up.

And, like, he was doing, like, pretty, again, dramatic stuff, but kind of with his own Tyler spin on it. So, like, it seemed very genuine to him. But, yeah, he's really good on New Hampshire. Because he always does seem like the big goof, you know? And it's, like, that's what I love about him.

Everything, but he's just so funny and just so, like, I want to hang out with that guy. He's a lovable dude. That guy seems pretty cool. A lovable guy. And he was wearing a sweater?

And I'm like, dude, how are you wearing a sweater? It's, like, really hot in here. Well, I mean, it's technically. I guess if you're as cool as he is... Ah, see what I did there.

It's technically. In the future, when you're listening to this, it could be November by the time this shows up, but we're in October. We're pre-Halloween time, so, you know, it should be cold. We're in the best time of the year. The best time.

If the Earth wasn't, you know, boiling and going to self-destruct at any moment, but normally it should be cold at this point. So he was probably just dressing for like he thought it should be. It's like he's out in the middle of a country somewhere. It's October. He wants more layers to protect him from nerds like me.

That's true. He's got to get the nerd cooties away from him. So that's for the best, really. He's looking good. I'm not going to lie.

He's like, I checked his Instagram. Apparently he's been hitting the gym. I don't know. But I mean, yeah, he's definitely like, Not that he was like a problem of size, but I'm just saying he's definitely like changed. Mm-hmm.

Slimming down, looking good. Seems very friendly to everybody that we saw him interact with. He seemed very friendly. Yeah, he seemed like he kind of enjoys the process, which not everybody that does those things does. Maybe he hasn't done that many of them, so it's still okay.

That could be it. You never know. Some people get burnt out. That could be why the person you got in line for was as friendly as she was. Yeah, this is like a new thing.

On the other hand, like, leading into mine are Angela from the official Sleepaway Camp photo that I have here. Now, I don't have Angela's photo, but we rounded the corner, and I was like, what is this whole bunch of people standing in the way? Of course, it's her. So she's one of those that's been doing maybe Scarefest every year. Like, she's a regular.

Like, she's been at Scarefest a lot of years. Felicia Rose? Yes. Yes, she's amazing. Our friend, Phyllisa Rose, previous guest on the show.

And, but she's one of those, like, she was so excited still. Like, that's, those are the ones that, like, impress me. Because, I mean, like, she has been doing this a good portion of her life now. And, like, she is still, like, excited to be there with these people that are always, like, so happy to see her. But, like, You know, I would think after a while you might get burnt out.

You think you'd get tired of making that face. Yeah. I mean, she is always just so excited to be there and so happy to see people. And she makes the face for you. If you want to pose for a photo, I've seen 10 billion versions on her Instagram.

She will do the face for you every time. I would expect no less. I mean, why else would you bother? I've talked to Felista many years ago. And then I had her on the show.

I took a photo with her. She made the face. So then I was like, it's a shame because I've seen her a whole lot of times over the years. But I've never seen, obviously, everyone's other favorite character in the movie, Judy. Judy of the miraculous, it's just the marvelous, the wonder and joy that is the sideways ponytail.

I mean, it's amazing. And who else is cool enough to wear their name on their shirt? Her own name right there on her shirt. Just in case you need to know, it's Judy. I literally pulled my hair into a sideways ponytail just to see if I could pull it off for today.

And I could not. So I didn't. Can anybody do it as well as Judy? No. I don't know.

But I didn't do it with a scrunchie. So maybe if I had like a scrunchie. They were selling scrunchies there. You should have grabbed some. I've got a Bucky's scrunchie.

Thank you very much. Man, you should have done it and then sideways ponytail and been like. It's me. I'm Judy. And she'd be like, no, I'm Judy.

Judy, fight. But over the years, I had never seen her doing things. I've been to many a convention. I'm like, no, I don't know. So I guess she just doesn't want to.

And then all of a sudden this year, I started seeing postings further out in the country. Oh, man. It's the 40th year anniversary. 40th anniversary of the most scarring movie for most children in the world. Well, I didn't see it when I was a child, so I mean, I was just scarred.

I managed to ride quite a while without finding out the special. See, I managed to make it until I actually saw it. I had never heard of it, which is weird because you think usually everybody spoils everything. You know everything before it happens when it comes to movies. You know the end.

You know the twist. You know what's going on. Most of the time these days, yep. And for this one being an older movie, because it came out, what, late 70s, early 80s? I think early 80s, yeah.

Early 80s? Anyways, I had not... I didn't know that was coming. I knew of the title. I knew it was slashery and horror, but I still didn't know the specifics.

And I sat down, and I got most of the way through, and I'm like, yeah, you know, kind of like Friday the 13th. Oh, no, it's not. No, it's not. This is not like Friday the 13th at all. How about you, boyfriend?

Did you know the end before you saw the movie? No. Man of many words. but it's just very rare these days that you see a movie that the ending has not yet been spoiled for. You that's always my favorite when people are like kind of talking about it we had one on the show recently that like just recently saw it and also didn't know the I was like oh so you didn't know going in they were like nope I was like oh god how are you are you okay did you know did. You recover see not only did I not know that there was I didn't know that there was going to be something that I didn't know Yeah.

I mean, it wasn't even like, it wasn't the normal going in like, well, till you get to the twist, this thing's free. But, yeah, that one just blindsided. Like, just, should we say, smacked upside the face with it. Yeah. But, yeah, did not see it coming.

And there was one of those on her table, by the way. Yeah, I mean, now I don't know how you could go to a convention and not kind of, maybe not 100% know, but, like, the face is everywhere. People are wearing the shirts with the face. She's selling the face. So, like, if you know what we're talking about, you know what we're talking about.

If not, don't know what we're talking about. Go in blind and go watch it right now. And then come back and listen to us ramble some more. It's a great movie. But yes, Karen Fields is the aforementioned Judy.

It was marvelous in her bitchiness. Oh my gosh. She bills herself as the original mean girl. And I'm like, oh yeah. Definitely.

Well before mean girls was a thing. She's such a Judy. Judy was being a Judy. But not at all in the real world. No, she was super sweet.

We talked to her. She was very nice. And I was like, I haven't seen you doing these. She was like, yep. Came out for the 40th anniversary.

She was very cool. Although she did write fuck off on my pictures. But again, if you've seen the movie, it's very fitting of Judy. But not Karen. She was very nice.

Tyler Labine wrote, don't call me Bert on my photos. He didn't like being called Bert. The entire time you kept calling him Bert. He's so nice. He was super excited that you yourself were connected to Ray.

He's technically connected to me. He's attached to you. Yeah. She does have a version of Ray Wise attached to her right there on her arm. He's my right hand man.

She can tell you, but you know, it's audio. So if you want to see it, Tyler Labine might be posting it. According to what he said. But yeah, he was excited and he wanted to take a picture of your tattoo of Ray. And then I was like, Ray also took a picture of it, but I didn't say that.

I was trying not to interrupt you. I was trying to keep my geek on the, on the down low and just let you have your moment and not interrupt him. You're like, but Ray was also super excited when he saw it. I know. He took a picture of it as well.

Although he never posted it on any of the medias that I know of. I don't know if he said he was going to, though. No, he didn't. I think he just wanted to keep it for himself. Sometimes he just, late at night, he gets it out and be like, ah, look at me on that girl's arm.

I am so cool. He is. And he's right. He is. He's super cool.

Which is kind of what Tyler said as well. He said he's still in contact with him. This guy. And I'm like, you mean this guy? You're like, yes, that guy.

He's on me forever. Yeah, y'all. Seriously, if you all have not seen Reaper, make it your life's mission. Watch Reaper. Enjoy it.

Because it's magnificent. I mean, seriously, that is just like... I mean, how could you go wrong with Ray Wise as the devil? I mean, it seems very fitting to me. It is, and he's so charismatic, and he's just so like...

Oh, you know, he's just. He's awesome. He's the best thing ever. He is. And then Tyler the Bean is just hilarious.

Always. Always. And then... The main guy. He's just kind of there.

I'm assuming he's done other stuff. Usually when you're the main guy, you've got to be the most boring because you're just there to kind of hold it. You're the glue that kind of holds the rest of the cool characters together. It's not like he's boring. When you're in a show with Ray Wise and Tyler Labine.

You're going to be in the shadows. But he's still awesome. It's an amazing show. So, everybody out there, watch Reaper. It's awesome.

It's on DVD. I don't think it's on Blu-ray. Okay. It's on DVD. I don't know if they have any streaming services.

I could have looked in that, but I didn't. But look it up. Watch it. Awesome stuff. You're welcome.

Watch it. Please. Don't want to make you demand. Let's see. What was the...

I was supposed to remind you of Annabelle. Just, I don't know. I don't care if Annabelle. And I'm just like, what the hell did I just hear? Someone frightened by...

We were trying to gauge what was going on with those random people that walked past us and were Was she super scared of Annabelle? Or was she super excited? I don't know. I'm not sure. But she also seemed like she drove out from the country to go see some Annabelles.

The girl in line in front of us at Tyler Labine's table drove all the way from Cincinnati, Ohio just to see Tyler Labine. Well, that's a good move to make. Yeah. Let's see. We also saw many people in costume.

I'm still trying to figure out the connection because I saw several versions of of our main crew from Little Shop of Horrors. There's a Seymour, and then Audrey 1, and Cajunly Caring, and Audrey 2. I saw somebody dressed as Audrey 2. Well, I saw at least two different couples, because Audrey was wearing two different outfits. So I know I saw two different versions of her outfits from the movie, and Seymour's always just kind of his nerdy self.

But maybe three different times? And then I'm trying to figure out. Like, I even was looking through the list. It's like, I don't know. obviously most of the main actors are like giant stars or retired or dead now so I'm like I don't think any of them are here so I was trying to figure out effects I'm like did Tom Savini work on it. Make a puppet version of Audrey.

Or did Greg Nicotero work on it and make some sort of weird puppet or something I don't know I scrolled through the thing I don't see them working on it either so I'm not sure what the connection was or why people had it in their heads to be I mean No complaints. There's a few things I love more than Little Shop of Horrors, so more power to you. Dress like the power couple that is Seymour and Audrey. Audrey too. Are there other costumes of some sort?

I don't know. I'm still trying to look up the list and see if I recognize anybody. Anything that she would have been from that. I knew David Arquette was there, but I didn't actually see him with my eyeballs. I did round a corner.

And I saw that Osborne kid. Jack Osborne? Jack Osborne. He looked right at me. I was like, hey, that's that guy from that TV show I watched a long time ago and didn't really watch that many episodes of.

He also seems very svelte these days. Everybody's looking good. Isn't he got like MS now? That could be part of it. I don't know.

I don't think that's like the reason behind it. I don't know if that's the plan to go on. No, I'm just saying. I thought he was like sick, you know? I don't know.

He looked good today. I didn't see him. I saw Dylan McDermott. Whatever. He was a rock star.

He looked like a douche. He had sunglasses on. He ain't Corey Hart. We were inside. It's not necessarily night yet, but we were inside.

He could have been the nicest guy ever. I don't know. He might be. He seems fine. I've liked him in many performances.

I would be up for hanging out with him, but he did not seem thrilled to be there at the moment. Maybe he's got things going on. Could be it. We all have stuff. I have stuff right now.

Try not to think about it. Power through. I have been watching. I did go back and watch some more American Horror Story. Actually, take that back.

I've been watching American Horror Stories. Stories. Did I talk about that? Have I talked about that already? Like a long time ago, but I don't know.

Like the anthology series? Not necessarily like American Horror Story, like the season long arc. They have like more of an anthology series. Are these like newer seasons or now? I'm not even sure.

I didn't even know they existed until I was on Hulu or whatever looking for other things. Probably looking for the new season that has Emma Roberts because I love Emma Roberts. I am down with some Emma Roberts. Which her season of American Horror Story has been terrifying in the wrong reasons because it involves pregnancy and ew. While we're talking about people we follow on Instagram, Emma Roberts is adorable in all of her feed.

And she gets like side projects with people like for clothes or makeup or something and i don't know she always looks amazing always follow emma because she always. Looks good emma roberts emma roberts american horror stories which i i love more than american horror story because it's more anthology but it's got um little baby cindy crawford jr on. There oh man she looks so much like her mom. It's not funny there's no there I'm not even sure she has a dad. I'm pretty sure she's just 100% cloned from her mother.

Yeah, it might be. They're working on those clonings. They made a sheep, and then they made Cindy Crawford Jr. She's gorgeous. Amazing.

And it's got Parrish Jackson, and she's gorgeous. Yeah, I don't know that that's a cloning. I don't know how it happened exactly. I'm not even sure what was entailed. Not sure he was involved at all, but.

She's gorgeous. She is gorgeous, so good for her. But yeah, the first two episodes kind of tie together, but then... This is, like, way derailed from the entire where we were at in the podcast. I don't even.

Donald... Ronald... Donald. Donald McDermott. Ronald Mc...

What am I doing? Dylan. McDonald, because you're getting those buckets. You're obsessed with buckets. I am.

Side tangent. She's obsessed with buckets. McDonald's has their boo buckets, and I need all the boo buckets, because I'm obsessive and whatever. But, yeah. Dylan McDermott.

He's been in several... He's been with the American Horror Stories, and he seems like a nice enough guy, and I just. Watch American Horror Stories. It's good. So is that what you've been watching since...

It's been a while since we talked. So, you know, what have you guys been watching? I've been watching American Horror Stories. And American Horror Story, the newest season with Emma Roberts. So I've been kind of like switching them, you know.

Because it's one of those where they only have one... They don't drop them all at once. They have like an episode a week. You have to watch it like television. Oh my God.

How did we survive? I don't know. I almost, like, it's not as overwhelming that way. Like, it's nice if you have time to, you know, burn through five or six episodes in a run. But I usually don't.

So I'm like, sometimes I like when I can just space it out. Then you have so much time to lose interest or forget. But then I'm watching a different thing. So you have to get, like, four or five of them. And then throughout the week, you just watch the, oh, the new episode of whatever the hell is on on Thursdays.

I'll watch it now. You just got to pace yourself. Schedule. It's all good. But, yeah, the new episode of American Horror Story, it is American because it's pregnant.

And, like, the whole, like, intro sequence, whatever it's called, like, the title cards and all, like, the intro, there's, like, pregnant babies. Like, not pregnant babies. Babies having babies. There's pregnant bellies. Like, it's moving around.

Creepy. That's, like, literally no thank you. Hard pass. I saw it. Like, the first, I barely made it through the first time I saw that intro.

Every other time, I'm, like, staring at my phone. See? You're going skip intro? Yes. Yes.

It's not giving me the option to skip intro. It's a horror story. I know. They're forcing you to watch the horror. But I am like, I think I'll definitely watch the entire first season of American Horror Stories.

I don't know if the one I watched last night with the dolls, like the little dollhouse, I don't know if that was the second season or not, but it was fantastic. Should we go back to the convention? I don't know. I've seen stuff too. We watched movies as well, but I didn't know if we needed to.

We can round it back to the convention, but I don't know. What else have you seen while we're talking about things? Last night, me and... I tried to make boyfriend decide what movie to watch. And a couple weeks ago, we were at Half Price, I'm assuming.

Half Price Books. And I was like, oh, look, they've got street trash. Oh, I just recently watched this myself. And. It was on Pluto or Tubi.

It was on Tubi. One of those free channels that you can just watch free shit on. I mean, it's got commercials. And we're like, oh, let's see how bad this is. It's a cult classic.

It is the most non-trauma, trauma movie I have ever... I mean, no. How do I say it? That's not phrased correctly. It's the trauma-est non-trauma movie I've ever seen.

That makes a little bit more sense. Yeah, that's not so far off. Because he was like, is this trauma? And I'm like, I don't think so. It tried to out-trauma trauma.

I mean, again, I gave my extended opinion. You can go back and hear it if you want to. It was just a few months ago. But, yeah, to me, it's sort of fascinating because, again, you're looking at guys that have died. no money. And we're like, I don't care.

I'm making a movie. And they made a short version of it, which actually the short version is not as bad because I think, I feel like that's the problem is it's so drawn out. Might've been better off with the shorter version. Yeah. You're probably better watching the short because you still kind of get that basic idea of what's going on in this, which is very minimal story-wise, but you still get the gross effects.

And like the gross effects are the selling point. Like the gross multicolored things going on, Like, that's when you can see these guys love what they're doing. The paint. The paint that's oozing out of people and just people liquefying into multicolored day glow craziness is just, like, phenomenal. And I'm like, that I'm impressed with.

Like, I don't love the movie around it. I respect it, but I don't love it. It's not a great movie. Yeah, we don't know because we didn't finish the movie. Nice.

We got to the cat. Oh, gosh. The second guy who melts. Yeah. He's on the balcony.

He's like, hey, kitty. And the cat's like, that cat was the best actor. Well. In the entire fucking movie. There weren't a lot of professionals.

It's all right. Because this cat's just like watching him. And the cat has a very, it's very expressive. He's a good cat actor. At least an Oscar.

Do they have like an Oscar for pets? I feel like they should have, but I don't think they've ever come around. That cat fully was like, he was in it. But yeah, after that, because I was like, how much more can you take? And he's like, I think I'm done.

Again, you can just kind of skip to the melting scenes and you're probably like, if you're going to be impressed, that's where you're going to be impressed. When he melted, the second homeless guy was melting and part of him fell on that other guy's face. I was like, that was the best part of the movie. Aside from the cat. Cat still wins top down.

Yeah. I was not sure what to expect. I knew it's cult classic status. I knew it had Dayglo colors and meltiness going on, but I was not prepared for the, I'm using air quotes back here, story. And it was minimal story.

It was really just hanging out with drunk homeless people. For a really long time. I don't need that. Yeah. It's not really an enjoyable watch, but again, it's impressive and you can tell where they've fixated their attention they're like we want to do these creepy effects how can we do it can we do it yes we can.

So in sticking with the homeless theme nice when we gave up with that boyfriend's second choice was chud. All right well i mean which starts with a street sweeper gotta gotta get. Some which i'm like we're literally cleaning out the street trash at this. Point people living in manhole covers that's what it's all about. So i'm assuming you've seen chud.

Again, it's one of those I need to revisit. I feel like it was on cable a million years ago, and I kind of remember not really much, though. Yeah, originally, uh, I was wanting to watch something kind of cheesy, like cheesy 80s. I got myself in trouble with that mood, but yeah, continue on. Yeah, you know, there was a certain feeling that I was wanting to go for.

You know, you just get in a mood and you want to watch something. And, uh, street trash was not not that wasn't the mood that i was in so that's why i was just kind of like yeah i'm done it's not that it's like i wouldn't say it's a horrible movie i would yeah you would but i mean it's. Rough around the edges we'll put that yeah. You know it's like one of those you got to be in a mood for to watch because i know at some point i at some point i would have been like yeah yeah i want to watch that you know just goofy mood but i was just kind of like yeah i just not really feeling it tonight i want to see something else and i remember the video the vhs cover for chud and i was like yeah i remember seeing the cover for that i think i want to watch that and it was actually on so that's kind of what we ended up picking but.

And do you have loving feelings for chud um. It wasn't bad i actually you know i don't like the I only dozed off a couple minutes. I can't say that about mine that's coming up. No judgment here. It didn't have anything to do with the movie.

I struggle to stay awake most days that I sit down. That's what I'm saying. If I sit down, it's usually game over for me right there. A lot of it was just me struggling to try to stay awake. But I mean. like midway through the movie when everything started picking up, because it started out kind of slow.

Once everything started picking up and you actually saw the chuds, I guess, then by that time I was already catching second wind and I was awake. But I liked it. I enjoyed it. It was good for what it was. Nice.

I said, hey, you want some popcorn? And you were like, yeah, popcorn. And I kept you awake the rest of the movie. Misty, were you a chud fan? I wasn't mad.

I was kind of digging it. I had to try to explain who half the people were. I was like, where do I know that guy? I'm still not sure where I know that one guy from. And I'll tell you his name and maybe you can tell me where I know him from.

He was the police officer. He was kind of a dick. That's a lot of horror movies. Yeah, I know. But it's like we were watching and I'm like, it's got John Hurt in it.

And my boyfriend's like, who's John Hurt? And I'm like, it's the dad from Home Alone. Yeah. And then there was, well, I mean, Boyfriend knew who Daniel Stern was, so he didn't have to explain that one. I don't know people's names.

Also from Home Alone? Yeah. Where is he? There's a weird Home Alone connection here. Sam McMurray.

Where the fuck do I know Sam McMurray from? Let me see. What's he look like? This is not him in the movie. This is him from The Shore.

God, that's not a good picture of him. Here's what I know him from. He started out on the original era of the Tracy Ullman show. Yeah, but I didn't watch that. What would I know him from?

You would best know him from, to me, his most immortal role. He's his boss in Raising Arizona. But it still seems like there's something else. He's been in a ton of stuff. Oh, I know.

He's got 208 acting credits. Yeah. I mean, he's been in a ton of stuff. But originally, yeah, I knew him first from Tracy Ullman. And then he was, yeah, he's, everyone is amazing in Raising Arizona.

But yeah, what little screen time he has, he definitely makes use of in Raising Arizona. And then apparently this was John Goodman's first on-screen role. Nice. It was a police officer in the diner. Again, double crossover there with Raising Arizona.

But it wasn't awful. Interesting. I mean, I kept trying to figure out, who does young Daniel Stern remind me of? He reminds me of somebody. I know.

Fred Savage? No, that's not it at all. Not even a little bit. It's weird that Fred Savage turns into Daniel Stern. I mean, I guess I've never seen Daniel Stern kind of young.

He was always just wet bandit Daniel Stern. Yeah, he always kind of. He got to that point, and that's when he was super famous. And, like, he sort of looked that same way for 20 years after that. And there was another guy in the movie that, or, yeah, in the movie.

I'm like, he's one of those, I fucking know that you do other things. What do I know you from? And, uh, because he was the other cop who was in the diner. There's a lot of cops in a diner. Dude, seriously, why is IMDB giving me shit?

Um... You know who he is. Just give me a second and I'll find him. He's dark hair. He looks kind of, I want to say Italian, but I could be getting that way wrong.

He's not Italian. Jay Thomas. Why do I know Jay Thomas? Let me see. Isn't he like Cheers Jay Thomas?

Is he? Like throwing the football with David Letterman, Jay Thomas? Yeah, that's Jay Thomas. All right. So he eventually married Carla on Cheers.

Oh, he did? Maybe that's where I don't know. And then, yeah, I mean, to me, he was just, that was his most, I spent a lot of time watching Letterman over the years. So his holiday special, once a December, he would come on to Dave and he would try to throw a football and knock a meatball off the top of the tree. I don't remember how it started.

It just became a holiday tradition. And I feel a little empty these days because it never happens in December at any point. So... You don't know. They could be sitting around their own houses.

I don't know that Jay is. I think Jay's gone now. Dave is. Dave's still around. He just has the giant beard, but he's still around.

Oh, he died? When did he die? Check and see. I thought I remembered hearing he died. Well, then he is tossing the football to Jesus.

There up in the sky, the great Christmas tree that is up. I don't know how heaven works. Oh, he died in 2017. Yeah, see? I thought I remembered it.

Don't I just make you so sad? Well. I've had time to get over it. So, would you like to hear what I've watched recently? We can.

So, as I've said, I'm not always feeling it. Sometimes these days, I'm a little down. And I'm like, you know, I've got enough darkness within me. I still want to watch horror, but I don't want something super dark bringing me down even more. I'm like, is there anything fun?

It's still anything light. It's still sort of horror. Did you watch Zombie Town? It's Halloween times. I still want to watch something horror-related.

Horror-adjacent. Well, I mean, I'm also a glutton for punishment, so I kind of knew what I was getting myself into. Only from you two. So that's why I thought this was the appropriate time to discuss this. Because the only time I'd heard anybody talk at minor length about this movie was you two a very long time ago.

I watched Van Helsing Oh. Yes. Oh, we were talking about that. I was almost going to watch Van Helsing. Like, the Hugh Jackman one?

Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah. Hugh Jackman. Because I scrolled through, I was like, Van Helsing. I was like, you know what?

This movie would be great if it didn't suck. Oh, my God. Like, I knew, I'd heard, what little I'd heard from anyone else was it was not good. No, it's not. I heard you.

But it's got Kate Beckinsale in it, and I love her, but. See, I've talked on her too. Couldn't save it. Could not save it at all. I feel like if ever there was like, because I'm supporting the writer's strike, which is now wrapped up, and the actors as well.

But if ever there was like a reason to support artificial intelligence writing a movie, because I'm pretty sure that one in theory was written by humans. And those are some of the worst lines I've ever heard. Like, they are bad. I don't remember. I know I've seen it, but I think I blocked it out.

It is the clunkiest dialogue of those ever. We've got to go back and watch it. Because it's like, sometimes I'm a glutton for punishment, and I'll watch movies like that. Oh, my God. Or I'll go back and watch League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

Because I really want to love that movie. Well, it's the same thing. Like, I'm watching Van Helsing, and I'm like, On paper, everything on this screen right now is right up my alley, is ridiculous, super awesome, and I should love it. And yet, this is garbage. It just doesn't work.

I don't know why. It's so off. I don't know if it's the CG. Oh, the CG's bad. I don't know.

I don't know what it is. It's just, you know, Hugh Jackman? I like him in so many other things. He's a great actor. But for some reason, it's not Van Helsing.

It's Hugh Jackman. It's Hugh Jackman being Hugh Jackman in Van Helsing. Well, and his lovely long hair that I'm watching. This is a wig, right? It's Wolverine as fucking Van Helsing.

I mean, by the end. No, no. No spoilers if you haven't seen it, but he definitely pulls a Wolverine by the end of it. Yeah. I'm like, Wolverine fight.

Here we go. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. But no, not even Wolverine. It's not Hugh Jackman being Wolverine being Van Helsing.

It's Hugh Jackman just being Hugh Jackman. Well and this was years ago so like really the only thing anybody knew him from at that point was was being a wolverine like he had gone on to be in his weird musical phase really like not embraced it that people knew who he was so this was like that first glimpse of him doing something else other than wolverine and you're like wait what what is this. Yeah it was just wait a minute, this doesn't seem right. You know? His dreamy rock star hair, though.

Yeah, it just didn't feel right. Something just didn't... He just I don't know. The chemistry for him being in that role. Oh, my God.

Well, it wasn't just him. Everybody is off. But the moment I was like, okay, this should kick ass is when, okay, we're watching this Van Helsing dude, and he's killing monsters. And not just one. He's not just going for Dracula.

He's killing all kinds of monsters. He's out looking for any kind of monster that comes along. And then he goes back to the main headquarters, and his Q shows up. And starts giving him new specialized weapons. And I'm like, okay, this is Monster Hunting James Bond.

This should be the greatest movie ever if you're a dork like me. And somehow I was like, wow, this is still just not working. What is going horribly off the rails? I don't get it. It doesn't make any sense why it does not work even on a fun level.

Yeah, I'm trying to figure out if they could cast somebody else. It's just the tone. Because I'm watching scene for scene. I'm like, that was... an effective action thing that i just saw and granted it's also over the top and like a horse team jumping a giant chasm that doesn't kill all of the horses and everyone involved i just like it definitely is gratuitous in a most ridiculous way but like sometimes i'm fine with that and like i don't know what it is like everything is just so off about that movie that just fires on No cylinders. Yeah.

I don't get it. You know, there's certain movies, like, when I get home from work, sometimes I have plenty of time to just, well, depending on what I'm doing, if I'm not working on cars or I have something that has to go on, you know, something else that's going on, especially in the wintertime, I'll sit around and watch movies. So I've gone back and watched, like, Total Recall, Bloodsport. I've watched these. The Running Man.

I just re-watched The Running Man. That's weird. I fucking love that shit. And those are great movies that I can watch and just not really have to think about. Kind of turn your brain off.

Yeah. Let's not be paying attention. Yeah, you know. And, of course, you know, I'll always watch some of my favorite movies. Hackers.

Dude, I fucking love Hackers. Can't go wrong with Hackers. One of my favorite movies. Yeah. Yeah.

Uh, so, you know, but it's, it's like Van Helsing and, uh, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. They should be in those categories of my favorite movies, but they both fall into the same category of these should be awesome, but they really, really just suck for some reason. And, and you mentioned again, I forgot. I like, It was of that era. So once I got there, I was like, of course it's Kate Beckinsale.

Of course that's who they cast in this. Well, yeah. And then I got there and I was like, you know, I've never fully understood. I haven't got it with her. But I look at her and I'm like, just picture perfect.

I'm like, you are a supermodel that they put on the screen. I get it aesthetically. You are a gorgeous woman. Something ain't working. And I'm like, not just this movie, but definitely in this movie.

I'm like, there's just something like, so cold about her. Like, she's just not engaging at all. Which works when she's a vampire in Underworld. I guess. Like, I never totally got into the Underworlds either, but.

Underworld's awesome, but in this, yeah. She's just so detached. That works in Underworld because that's, as her character, seems kind of detached from most things. I mean, she's at least committed to her accent. Hugh just sounds like Hugh.

But she's going for a very Transylvanian accent, and she commits. And I'll give her points for that, but somehow it still doesn't save that performance. Yeah, it was still pretty bad. It is pretty clunky as well. The Transylvanian accent was pretty bad.

I don't know, man. And then by the end, it's just... Nobody's even on screen anymore. It's just CG monster fighting CG monster. I'm like, what are we watching?

I could just watch cartoons. At this point, we're just watching video game cutscenes. It's not even good CG. It's bad CG monster fighting. Who is it that Hugh Jackman goes and sees?

Is it Dr. Jekyll? Oh, at the beginning. The big, creepy, wannabe Dr. Jekyll that is, again, just a cartoon.

He starts as a caricature and then becomes a cartoon in his transformation. Yeah, oh, it's bad. It is bad. So bad. Oh, God.

It is so rough. Yeah, I was not prepared. So, speaking of what we said earlier, do you know how many times I had to back this thing up and continue? Because I... Well, it became a multi-night thing because I started a couple of days ago and I'm just like, I'm just going to sleep.

I can't do this anymore. But I paused it and I came back and I was like, all right, we're going to talk about it today because I know you guys have seen it. So I'm like, let's finish this out. And I still it was at least three times I backed up and was like, what? No, I don't remember this.

I totally went to sleep because I was trying to escape. So, yeah, I got through it. But it took a lot of times. Van Helsing. I was not prepared.

We did watch another movie, too. All right. And it kind of brings us back to today because the star of the movie was at the convention today. Alrighty. Come full circle.

Because I've seen, I'd previously seen the movie, but Boyfriend, I do not think that he had seen it. So he's like, well, it's a classic. We have to watch. We have to sit down and watch it eventually at some point. So we watched The Fog.

Alright. I have seen it once again and it's been many years ago. It's one of those I kind of want to revisit. I also want to revisit and or I don't know if I ever watched the remake. Oh, we watched the remake.

This time? Or you watched the. No, I'm saying I thought we watched it a long time ago. See, I thought I'd seen it, but I don't remember a thing about it. How could you not remember.

That Tom Welling... I've blocked out everything but Tom Welling. Because Tom Welling's kind of awesome at all times. I don't have any issues with Tom Welling. But he...

I don't know. He doesn't make a lot of movies these days, it seems like. So I kind of want to see him in more stuff. Did he play... Has he played Superman again yet?

He needs to. Well, I mean, he did... Again, you were looking today, bringing it back to today, you were looking for the old CW booth. There was no CW booth. They brought him back as Clark Kent in a crossover multi-universe world of CW a couple of seasons ago.

And it was wonderful. He was there wearing his flannel shirt, being all Clark Kent handsome. Yep, he's a nice specimen of Clark Kent-ness. Was Chloe there? Um don't think they brought her in i don't know why i'm not.

Sure what she's up to that was her name on the show wasn't it yes i. Can't remember how long and once again i'll stress i'm not sure what she's up to these days scheming planning anyway we'll leave that alone she's shady but um yeah he was there and uh it was it was nice so i did i did welcome getting to see him be clark again and i i want to see him in more stuff but so what was your take on old school fog. Did you have any opinion of the fog boyfriends I liked it. I thought it was good. He spent most of the time trying to figure out how old Jamie Lee Curtis was compared to Tom Atkins.

Oh, yeah. That's fine. It's okay for old dudes to hook up with young girls, right? He was just weird. He didn't have his mustache.

And I was like, what's going on? Yeah. And I don't even like facial hair. But I'm like, but Tom Atkins has a mustache. That's his thing, man.

It's very weird. And it's like, is he supposed to be handsome? I don't understand. He's just Tom Atkins. That's all that matters.

He's cool. He's always cool. Don't get me wrong. He's not really, like, conventionally handsome. And she, like, jumped right into bed with him.

Well, back then, you know, guys were like, well, no, no, I'm just saying back then, I mean, if you look at a lot of just people back in that day, you know, you go back and watch that stuff, a lot of those people were not really hot. I mean, I know there were there were guys in my high school that girls were just totally in love with. And then you look at their like you look at the high school photos, you know, from the yearbook. And these guys are just. They don't look hot at all well even how the hell even the movies like go back and look at them it's like yes kind of your lead usually is but look at like the other guys that are supposed to be the cool guys you look at them now and a good half of the time i'm like what a douche like i can't even think of him as like a handsome guy because he's just too douchey and very 80s most of the time and has feathered hair and a popped collar and i'm just like yeah screw that guy so yeah again i guess our tastes change over the years but being hot and things that don't change.

How about some Adrian Barba? Was she hot? We're trying to figure that one out, too. People love her. I mean, she's like the epitome of 80s hotness for most guys.

She was super cool, but I couldn't figure out. I mean, she's very angular. And that's not a bad thing. I was just trying to figure out what exactly. I mean...

See, that's the thing. I didn't... Oops. And that's... That's mainly what it was.

I didn't fall into that at the time. Like, at the time, I was just like, ah, I knew she was by name because, you know, again, everybody talked about her being hot. I go back now, and I'm like, alright, I see it, and boobs are a big appeal. But she didn't show her boobs at all in this movie. But she coasts on them, you know.

Once you've been established as someone having, you know, super hot rack, you can coast on that for many a movie, and dudes will still show up, just in case. Just in case you're wearing a low-cut top. But, I don't know. What I've seen her in other things, I like her, so. I came to appreciate her later, but as a kid, I didn't, I wasn't the one with her poster on.

Just like, oh yeah, I know her. She's in movies. But I know she is a sex symbol for many a dude. Yeah, because she was at the convention today and she was looking kind of the same. And she's looked it for years, you know.

She kind of, I mean, she got a little older after those movies, but she didn't, like, get on hard times like some people do. Like, she just kind of aged into it and is, you know, looking Adrian Barbeau-like. Fantastic. Now I kind of want to watch the remake at some point. Yeah, I need to.

Because I can't remember who, like. Like I said, I've blocked out most of it, so I definitely need to read it. I can't remember the Tom Atkins role in the remake. Yeah. I just need more DJs.

I can't remember what role. I mean, I remember that Tom was in it, but I can't remember. Yeah, that's the thing. That's the only thing I remember about it was him being in it. Who was he the equivalent of?

Jamie Leaker. He was sleeping with Tom Atkins, too. I mean, it's an update. We've got to reboot this thing. We need to put a new spin on.

It. And still, some of the scenes in there, some of the... with the fog rolling in and the colors. And I mean, it's beautifully shot. Yeah. Again, you got, you got a master at work there.

I mean, that was him kind of right in his prime. That's just the one that didn't quite hit like those others did. It has its cult following, but it's not like usually the go-to for masterpiece when you're talking about it. Yeah. I had to point him out.

I'm like, isn't that, isn't that John Carpenter right there? Cause he's like, has that small little brief cameo at the beginning. Boyfriend's like, I don't know. I've never seen him. Not old.

Yeah, I mean, he still kind of looked like the same dude. He was just a younger version of that same dude. I was like, I wouldn't mind if that John Carpenter winked at me. I don't know. Instead, I get the old John Carpenter winking at me.

Well, you should cherish that. I kind of do, but I'm kind of still creeped out at the same time. I'm very torn on the whole thing. If you weren't here for the thousands of episodes in between now and then, this was at a convention. And I just went up and got his poster signed and he did not wink at me.

But as he walked past Misty. I was like a lot skinnier and cuter than him. Whatever. He was into you. I think the bar was probably pretty low.

Anything else to round? I'm going to have to round it out fast because our AC is starting to go out in my car. Apparently. Well, we can't finish it out without this last step. Because you wondered what it was I was dragging here like I was going to get Karen to sign something.

No, it's actually for you. Oh, for me. Because it's, as you mentioned earlier, it's almost your birthday. It's almost my birthday. So wish her a happy birthday after the fact because it probably already passed in the real world.

But I thought I'd wait until the show because this ties into a very specific episode. It all comes full circle once again. So this was a while ago. I have had this. And I will go ahead and bust it out.

It's going to make noise. I've got to work around this crinkly bag. I didn't get you anything for your birthday. I don't really care. I just saw it and was like, well, now I'm destined to get this for you, so I hope you're happy.

Walking through a store, and I see this giant-ass magazine, and I just immediately go, huh. I wonder if that's the... Here's the interview magazine that we mentioned on an episode about a year ago. Almost exactly a year ago. Flip to the.

There's a card that you can subscribe. It's towards the front. Right towards the front. Put the card in the page so you can find him. I can't find it.

You're lost. Give it here. Towards the front. I'm slipping. I don't see any cards.

Are you sure the card didn't come out? I put the card in. Oh, that's cool. There are some very cool photos in it. It is an interview magazine from way back in the day.

I used to work for the company that printed Interview Magazine. Nice. Did I go past it? I don't think so. Not if you haven't seen them.

Let me tell you, these things were a bitch to run. Look at that. O-M-G. All right. It's glorious.

Try to describe the wonder in front of you right now. Oh my, I don't even know that I can. What is on his nipples? Got some nipple rings going. I don't know.

Are those actually... No, those are like. I think they're more like pasty nipple rings. I can't have that little suction cup stuck to his boobs. I can't...

So who is this sexy, sexy man? That would be the glory and wonder that is Tim Capello and all his just magnificent wonder. In his 80s glory, by the way. He was a magnificent beast. I'm not going to lie.

He's got the saxophone up there. Yeah. He is shirtless. Extremely shirtless. I would hope so.

As he should be at all times. I suppose. Especially in the 80s. Mm-hmm. Oh, man.

Look at him. Why don't they have more pictures? I think that's it. Yeah. I was like, where's the photo spread?

There needs to be a whole. Thing of Tim. I need an entire. magazine just full of the glory I mean look at that but see. Here's the weird thing so even he said he didn't have a copy we were just like oh god this is gonna be impossible to find I'm walking by one of the mini bookstores very similar to the ones you went to today and like it's up on a shelf on display and I'm like what are the odds huh and then I pick it up and I swear look how much you just struggled to find it I flipped open and like there it was I was like son of a bitch I guess I'm buying this Because we just said you're, like, going to scrounge. I checked the internet so hard.

Do you remember me looking? I know. That's why I was like, this is so weird. That, like, it was just a month or two after it happened. I was like, right after this, I'm walking through, not even looking for it.

It's staring me in the face, the big Cindy Lauper, looking at my face. And I'm just like, all right, I guess I got to look in this interview. Holy shit, there he is. Is that, like, a ball gag necklace? I can't.

Well, I mean, you know most of his attire comes from the sex shop, so probably so. Picked out by Tina, I'm sure. Thank you, Tina Turner, for all that you have done in the world. May you rest in peace, knowing that you gave us. If you've done nothing else, you brought us Tim in all his glory in his sex gear.

I was seriously thinking about getting a tattoo of Tim Capella, the sexy sax man. I thought about maybe just a little one of Tim Capella. That would be super cool. I thought more like a... Cartoony?

Kind of cartoony. Nice. That would be beautiful. He is a work of art right there. Well, Jay, I did not find you a sexy sax man gift for your birthday.

But when I walked past it, I was like, damn. And that's the thing. It was way before your birthday. I was like, well, I guess I'm hanging on to this because your birthday's not for a long time and Christmas just passed. So I guess I'm just sitting on this thing.

So You're lucky I found it. It's shifted so many times in my mess. I'm like, where is it? I've got to give it to her for her birthday. There you go.

It is a work of art. I'm going to have to take a picture of it, print it out, and then frame it and put it on the wall. I would hope so. Because I'm not going to tear it out and deface the magazine. No, you can't.

This is a collector's edition. Even Tim doesn't have a version. Lions and ghosts over here, too. There was some pretty cool stuff in it. Yeah, I flipped through most of it looking for other shots, but no.

It was always an awesome magazine. It was always really cool to run. Oh, until December. What is going on here? Yeah, there's some...

It's a lot of music people, so there's some weird bands. Some of which I was like, oh, look, they caught somewhere. There's an InXS in there. There's a little Dream Academy. So, like, there's some people of the moment.

But then you get the other ones, and I'm like, oh, they were gonna take off according to this, and I do not know who this person is. So, there's some misses along the way, as with any industry, but some good photos either way. A big, full page. A large page of Tim Capello. So thank you, Andy Warhol, for creating this giant-ass magazine that I somehow randomly stumbled across.

Cuando, cuando? I don't know who they are. So, I thought that was the way to round out the episode. Yeah, happy birthday to me! Ooh, who we got over here?

Who's this guy? Ooh, the gentleman over on Charlie Sexton? I don't know who you are. No, I remember Charlie Sexton. Again, it's one of those, he had the rock star name.

I was like, this has got to go easy for him. He's going to be huge. And then, like, they tried. He put out an album. He was trying.

Dude, this guy's hands are gross. Who are you? Boz Skaggs. Oh, he's a master. What are you talking about?

His hands are... He's also a sax man, I think. He's definitely a horn dude. If only you all could see. The things that I'm seeing right now.

The glory and wonder that is all this. But more importantly, Timmy Capella. That was just such a weird cosmic thing that came together. I was like, I guess I'm getting this. Whether I like it or not.

I'm going to be toting this sexy sax man up to the counter. Ring me up with some sexy sax man. Oh yeah, sexy sax. Ooh, a swatch ad. Yeah, some of the ads in there are better than anything else.

They did show. I don't think anything is going to be better than that. I want like, where's the rest of the photos from that? Somewhere. And somebody is in a file folder.

Metal storage. Filed away. Boyfriend has a new project to work on now. And that is my car, by the way. Husker do.

Oh, right. Well, that's never going to change. You're always working on. That's a real memory. Oh, look at this guy's hair.

He's got that little thin on top mullet. So, you're distracted now, so I will at least say thank you to Scarefest for letting us go out into the world, go meet these awesome people. Thank you to Karen. Thank you to Tyler. And, um, yeah, well, we at least got to go hang out with them for a little while, and then hang out with you and tell you about the awesome things we did today, and weird movies we watched, and this magazine that you probably wish you could look at or someone you might be frightened because it's too sexy for you.

You all can't handle the magnificence that was. I mean, he still is fucking amazing. But 80s Tim Cappella. He's too sexy for a shirt. That's why he's not wearing it.

I mean, David Lee Ross. Also super sexy. Usually shirtless. Elvis Costello. No thanks.

Ooh, heart. Oh, there you go. I'm not trying to say that Timmy Capella is no longer the gorgeous beast that he was in the 80s. He still is. Don't get me wrong.

But there's just an extra layer of magnificence. I think even he knows. He's had a ride since the 80s. It's a journey and we're all on it, man. He's still looking pretty damn good as he is these days.

So, go out there and find Tim, too. He's touring around right now, probably. So, go watch him play his sexy sax action. Hell yeah. But once again, thank you to Scarefest.

Go to thescarefest.com and find out when the next one is coming together next Halloween times. And then you can start making your trip there today. I was telling you guys about someone who I randomly had followed on the internets today. They live in Florida or something. And then last year just posting photos.

And I'm like, wait, are they at Scarefest? So like they made the trip from Florida to Scarefest just to see like one person. This girl today came, stood in line, drove all the way up here to see Tyler. So, you know, it's worth the trip. These people are seeing their heroes.

You can be living that life. Oh, look at this guy. Blaze. That guy. This is going to be distracted the rest of the night.

He's wearing a leather jacket and it looks like pleat front corduroy pants. Yes, pleats. Not for me. Thank you very much. Alright.

You ready to round it out? Yes. Do you want to tell people anything else? Nope. Alright.

Thank you for going on this journey with us. It was literally a journey. We were heading up there, heading back. Thank you to Scarefest for letting us be part of the magic. Otherwise, that about does it.

We will return next time. Same geek feed. Thanks for listening. Bye. Bye.

As we go along. I've been in a cave for 40 days Only a spark to light my way. I wanna give out, I wanna give in This. Is our crime, this is our sin But. I still believe, I still believe Through the pain and through the grief.

Through the lies, through the storms. Through the cries and through the wars. oh i still believe. I'm flat on my back Out at sea Hoping these waves Don't. Cover me I'm turned and. Tossed Upon the waves When the darkness comes I feel the grave But.

I still believe. I still believe Through the cold And through the heat Through the rain and through the tears, through the crowds and through the tears, oh, I still believe. I'll march this road. I'll climb this hill. Upon my knees, if I have to.

I'll take my place upon this stage. I'll wait till the end. I'm out on my own Walking these streets. I look at the faces. That I meet I feel like I Like I want to go home What do I feel?

What do I know? But I still believe. I still believe Through the. Shame And through the grief. Through the heartache, through the tears, through the waiting, through the years.
