Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power. To provide more cooling in the containment chambers. To your stations, we have a rebound. You can scream now if you want to. Watch a horror movie right there on Martini.

Horror movie right there on Martini. Horror movie right there on Martini. What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian. I'm Nora.

I'm Phillip. And we're coming to you live via digital recording from New York City. Or it may or may not be somewhere in Canada. One or the other. That is the Oddity Studios.

We are back for another not exclusive club episode. We've decided because this is a big new release, so we could throw it out there and use this to let people know that we have a horror club and you should come and join is essentially where we're going with this. So this is for everyone to enjoy or be annoyed by, whichever. You may disagree with a lot of what we say. Who knows, but.

If you like listening to us or disagreeing with us, come join the Patreon Horror Club and then you can have this every time we do one of these. See, that's why we're here. And like we normally do at the intro of all these Horror Club episodes, have you seen anything creepy lately? I have. I saw a movie called Resurrection, and it came out last year.

It's Rebecca Hall and Tim Roth are the main two. I've heard about this. Yeah, I have not seen it. It was so good. It kind of starts off as a basic thriller of this woman left this guy 20 years ago, moved to another place, and he finds her, and then it's like... you're kind of figuring out what happened between them, but then it just really goes off the rails towards the end.

And it's like very gory and upsetting, but their performances are like so incredible that I. Keep hearing about this, like almost, um, like monologue that she gives to the camera. That's like amazing. Yeah. There's like, I think it's like eight minutes and it's one shot and it just stays on her as she tells the story about how they met and what happened and everything.

And as I'm watching it, like, her eyes start welling up. And at the exact time a tear fell from her eye, a single tear fell from my eye. And I was like, oh, my God. She is that good. Because it was so just, like, her acting and the things she was saying.

And it was just like, oh, my God. I refuse to watch movies that give me the feels. I'll have none of that. I haven't seen. Prefer to be dead inside, thank you.

I know she's in that movie, The Night House, but I haven't seen that one yet, although I've had it recommended to me. But just from this, I'm like, oh, she's an incredible actress. Yeah. Like, holy cow. And he is really good.

And Tim Roth, I mean, has always been amazing from day one. Yeah. He plays it very, like, casual, but it's like the undercurrent of the things he's doing. You're just like, whoa, I don't know. So, yeah, highly recommend that one.

It was very impactful, I. Guess I will say. Nice. Mm-hmm. I might give it a shot, but you'll hear about it if it makes me cry.

I've got a couple. I'll do a normal one, and I've got a ridiculous one I can throw in. If you've got one, I can throw in afterwards. This one I almost want to get out of the way now. Because if you are a normal Patreon subscriber type of person, you also get to help pick movies that we're going to talk about on the Horror Club.

And I'm hoping no one picks this one. Because I kind of don't want to have to watch it again. So I figure if I get it out of the way now, nobody will have to assign it to us. But I have been because I'm just into horror movies forever. But there's so many roads, I've just kind of barely headed down. one of which we've gotten into a little on the Horror Club, Jalo stuff.

So I keep coming across movies, and I'm like, oh, this looks like it's part of that genre. Let's pick this up. And I got one last year, and it was really good, and I'm fine with putting that one on the list. I won't go into that one now. I'm hoping someone chooses that one.

But then I pick this one up, and I'm like, all right, I think I've heard the title before, because, again, they have crazy titles. But I was just like, don't know anything about it. Let's go ahead and watch this. I watched The Pajama Girl Case. pajama girl pajama with a y by the way p-y-j-a-m-a is that not how you spell pajama i don't know i don't spell pajamas much but it's so like after even pretty early on i was like you know i'm not really having fun i know it's like what year is it the 70s i'm assuming yeah 77 so i know it's the 70s in italy but Good God, this is misogynist. I was going to say, when you said 70s in Italy, I.

Was just like, hold on tight. I mean, on the one hand, this girl is getting herself into trouble because for being 1977, she is a freewheeling gal. She is having at least three affairs that I know of in the beginning of this movie. So I'm like, I'm supposed to be sex positive to make a reference from later. But I mean, really, I'm just like, girl, please settle it down.

I think one of these guys is married. Come on. You're going to get yourself in trouble, which kind of happens. So I'm like, just that's too much. Again, I don't care if you're a girl or a guy.

Quit having just leave it alone. Just to people that are screwing around. I don't get it. I'm like, that seems like way too much trouble to me. I don't know.

No, I've always kind of been of that mode. I've always been super monogamistic anyway. But but now I'm just like when people have like affairs and shit, I'm like, really? Really? I can't imagine putting up with one person, let alone putting up with another and having to go through the theatrics of hiding.

Just logistically. I know. Just like, this is exhausting. And I morally have issues with it, but mostly it's exhausting. Please stop screwing around on each other.

So that's just kind of my feeling in general. So I already kind of disagree with her, but then every guy in her life is an asshole. And then we get to... This is mostly why I wanted to throw it out there. I want to see if you guys think this is a good idea.

For this case. Because it's also like an old cop. They always work in an old cop. A lot of times he's American for some reason. I don't know.

But there's this old guy that comes out of retirement to help solve this pajama girl case. Apparently this is based on a true story. I'm hoping this part I'm about... Watching it, I didn't even realize that. So I just brought it up and went, oh god, did this really happen in Italy?

So... They find this girl on the beach. I'm not ruining anything. It's the first scene. Which, okay, while I'm nitpicking, because we're hopefully not going to do this movie, there's a girl walking on the beach in the beginning, like a little girl, and it's sunny out.

Okay, so if you have an umbrella of some sort, that's the parasol idea to keep sun off of you. She's got one of those completely clear plastic umbrellas. Oh. Just annoys the fuck out of me. I'm just like, what are you accomplishing, child?

I know you're a small child, but somebody smack her upside the head and explain this is not doing anything for you. Okay, that rant aside. So then there's a dead body on the beach and they're like, oh, her face is all jacked up. It's mostly just skull and burned up and messed up, but her body is still normal. So, yeah, gross.

So, gross. Gross. Here's their idea. We don't know who she, I guess they hadn't figured out, I don't know, fingerprints or dental records or anything in this world of 77 Italy. So we don't know how to identify who it is because her face is all jacked up.

We're going to get a clear box and put her on display in the middle of what town hall, some giant like civic building. And like, Well, she's got these yellow pajamas that she was wearing at the time. Well, that might cover up some sort of identifying mark that someone might recognize. So we're going to lay her nude with her jacked up skull face in the middle of town and let the entirety of town parade past her and decide if they know who she is oh no is that not disturbing on a lot. Of levels I mean come on Italy.

And that's maybe the most interesting thing about them It does by the end do some like structuring stuff that I'm like, okay, for the time, this was probably kind of groundbreaking ish, but it does not make it worth all the bullshit that goes on in between. So yeah, that is like the beginning, the focal point of what they decide to do with this case. I'm using air quotes case. We're, we're going to try to identify who she is by putting her naked body on display with her jacked up face. They don't even cover up the face.

You just parade right past her all of the things. Oh, I hope that didn't really happen in real life. That's the part I was just like, it just occurred to me when I got, I was like, oh shit, did that part happen? I hope not. I was reading about the case on Wikipedia and I didn't.

If you know more about the real world case, you can write in and let us know, but it doesn't make me like the movie anymore. Yikes. Everybody's just kind of a jerk. I don't like it. So the pajama girl case, don't assign us that.

I'd just probably fuel the fire on that one, but whatever. Give us some other ones. There's plenty of other ones I want to watch. This one was just a misfire, if you ask me. Oh, my God.

It says, after the initial investigation failed to identify her, the body was taken to Sydney where it was put on public exhibition. She was preserved in a bath of formalin for this purpose at the Sydney University Medical School. Yeah, they do show that. But then it doesn't go, it doesn't say anything about being put in a glass box or anything. Yeah, I think that was another weird confusing one because they're showing the big buildings.

I'm like, isn't that in Australia? So I guess it was supposed to be in Australia, but the Italians shooting it and then it's all dubbed in overly bad English. So I'm just like, I don't know what country we're in right now. So, and again, the cop's American, I think. So like none of it made any sense where you were or what was going on or.

Crazy movies. Fun. There's actually been several movies based on this. Ooh, and a play. What was the name of the woman?

Linda Agostini. Aw. R.I.P. Linda. Yeah.

Sorry about your body. I'm sorry all that happened to you, and I'm sorry that we're sitting here trudging it all back up again. I just said the movie was lame. Yeah. So have you seen anything?

I recently rewatched Return of the Living Dead Part 2, which creeped me the hell out as a kid. And now I just thought, what an enormous waste of time. I mean, I like the second one, but the second one is just like, at least the first still skates the line of horror and comedy. It's still mostly comedy, but there's plenty of horrific stuff in that first one. The second one is just full on silly ass zombies.

Just straight silly. It is. And don't hear me out. Again, I think it's a lot of fun, but it is a goofy comedy if. Ever there was.

It was, oh boy, it was tough to get through. And my favorite use of actors, because they use the same actors in the sequel. They're playing different characters. Yeah. They don't address it.

They even make reference to lines from the first one. Do they not? They're saying lines from the first one that those same characters said. almost knowingly to the audience of like hey get it it's us hey guys we're back. Well what was really weird about that was after i finished that i immediately started watching the day of the dead remake which i didn't even know there was a day oh. It's rough i don't know if i finished that one it is.

Well i was just confused because i was like ving rames is in both of them. But not two different characters i had that issue too because it's mina suvari i think yeah Which is a weird move for her, too, because I'm like, this is if ever there was like a. Series of movies that takes a drop. Yeah. It's like the night remake.

If you like that one, most people are pretty OK with that one. A lot of people. I love the day remake. It's a very different movie, but I love it for what it is. And then you get to that day, which is, again, a pretty loose remake, much like the Dawn one.

Yeah. Well, at least the Dawn, at least they were like, well, let's put this one in a mall. Yeah, we'll still end up in a mall. That's mostly the similarities. And then in the Day remake, they were like, oh, I think they're...

Military, kind of. And there were military guys in the original, so let's put them in here, sort of. Yeah, we'll put them in here, kind of. Yeah, it's rough. Yeah.

I kind of... I still don't know if I got all the way through it. It was bad. Well, my only other sort of tie-in, and I'll only bring this up, and if you follow my nonsense on Facebook, which rarely do I post anything that I'm actually doing because I don't do anything outside of the show, but since I went to visit a legend, I got to see the actual cocaine bear. Oh, yes.

Pablo Escobar? Yes. Yes. Yes. Because I was having a weird day and I was just like, you know, if things were going right in my life, I'd head on down there and go see the actual cocaine bear hanging out in the lobby of the theater and go see the movie.

And then I was, again, in a weird mood. I was like, fuck it, I'm just going. So I just, up in that morning, started driving on over there. And yeah, I got to the Kentucky Theater where they had the bear in the lobby. They had your little banner so you could do your photo op with him and I'm not usually into taxidermy, as I said when I posted the photos.

I was like, not normally a thing I'm into, surprisingly for some people. But, yeah, just because it's such a ridiculously legendary story now. Right. And then immediately somebody's like, well, it's probably not the bear. I think they can't prove that that's what killed him.

And I was like, do you also, do you walk by little kids and pop their balloons before you shove people in wheelchairs downstairs? What are you doing? Just, I'm just going to take a picture of a bear wearing a hat. It's funny. All right.

Leave me alone. So of course somebody immediately, it's the internet for you, but yeah. So if you haven't seen cocaine bear, which I've now had several, again, I'm using my quotes. Normal people go, you saw Cocaine Bear? What do you think?

And I'm like, you know, if you think you're going to like a movie called Cocaine Bear, it's fine. You're going to have a good time. If you think that sounds like something that you don't want to see, you're right. You probably don't want to see it. I feel it's a lot like Snakes on a Plane.

Yeah, it is. You get what you expect out of it. I kind of thought about that at the time. If you walk in thinking, well, this is going to be the next Citizen Kane, you're probably... You're way off.

Yeah. Speaking of Elizabeth Banks. She is the director of that. And truthfully does a good job. She's made a few weird...

Again, I can never remember. What did she do that was stupid? Because she did something stupid. And I think the one that I'm like. I don't know.

She probably punched a zoo animal. Well, the one that I think got her... Didn't get her full on cancelled. I guess thankfully. Because it's just a dumb comment.

But again this is one of those. Stop making dumb comments on the internet. Because she made her last movie. Or what was one of her last movies. And then got all up in arms.

That like it wasn't supported. And then she went online and was like. You know people just don't want to support a female fronted project. And a female director. And then everybody was like.

Except the movie you made was Charlie's Angels and it looked like crap. So like, don't blame it on that if you're going to make a crappy movie. Like, go make a good movie and then hopefully people will support you because you made a good movie, but you made Charlie's Angels. Yeah. Which even I haven't watched that Charlie's Angels.

I looked at it and went, no, no, I don't care. So, but yeah, if you've seen... Any of the trailers, it's that. It's a bear. They do take, again, it's a very loosely based on the actual story because there's a lot of stuff that comes into play by the end that I won't ruin for you because somebody out there is still waiting to see Cocaine Bear.

But yeah, within the concept of this crazy drug deal, throwing bags of cocaine out of a plane was how this drug deal was going. I don't know how this works. I obviously don't smuggle enough coke to get this quite right. But that's what they were doing back in the day when this supposed true story happened. And then at some point, Bear wanders along, finds some cocaine, decides to eat it, and has ingested a large amount of cocaine.

And then this story then goes on a killing spree. So, again, I worked it into this episode because it's essentially a slasher movie. Like, it is a Jason, Michael Myers, like, it is just... So much horror, but in the form of instead switch it out with a crazy ass bear. So there are several scenes that play out like you're in the woods with Jason and you're about to get killed.

And then the other thing I don't think I knew going in, I knew it was going to be a comedy more or less, but it is gory as hell. Oh, okay. Ms. Banks does not skimp on the gory grossness. I'm not saying all of it looks great.

They do work in a little... I mean, the bear is mostly CG the whole time. Oh, sure. So that is, you know, again, you have to sort of let that go. You're going to see Cocaine Bear.

But even the gore, some of it I think is a little... whatever but it's still so over the top level of ridiculous grossness things that happen that you're just i was laughing maybe a little too much for the people around me i don't know but yeah i found the level of horror that was being done to the humans and this was very funny so it's it's a horror movie in its own special way so but yeah that was my special tie-in was the actual Original legendary cocaine bear was there, in theory. Not if you believe what people say on the internet. I read a quote from the medical examiner who, I guess, did the autopsy of the original cocaine bear. And he was like, yeah, for the amount of cocaine that this bear ate, he's like, nothing.

Could have survived that. And he was like, it probably died within about three. Minutes of eating it. I mean, based on the movie, I'm just like, yeah, none of this. That's why I said loosely based is even putting it mildly.

Because I'm like, there's no way you couldn't just immediately your heart explode. You know, it's just. Well, I want to think that in the movie, and it's up to you if you want to tell me if I'm right or wrong about this. But I'd like to think that in the movie, the bear finds the cocaine, eats a little bit, and then for the rest of the movie, he's just like dipping a claw into it. Snacking on it.

He's just doing a bump the whole time. That's the thing. The bear in the movie... continues to find more cocaine oh that's great so not only is it ingested at the beginning and goes off killing people but likes cocaine and keeps finding it and is like oh yes that's my thing and like goes to get more bags of cocaine which are scattered all about the forest so lots of cocaine lots of killing people so yeah if all that sounds like fun you'll. Be fine it's a marathon not a sprint. Yeah yeah And I did, like, knowing, again, passing by the actual bear, I kind of knew how the real world version turned out.

And logically how any version of this would turn out. But then we're midway into this, and I'm like, they're starting to take a turn with, like, the bear part of the story. And I'm like, I don't know that we can end it like that. Like, so, it comes out all right. So, yeah, it's not as grim as what I passed by in the lobby, which was pretty morbid, really, if I think about it now.

Yeah, it's pretty sad. Did it stop me from buying accessories? Do I now have a cocaine bear mug and a hat? And there's a refrigerator magnet if you go in the other room that looks like Smokey the Bear and says, don't do drugs. And I was like, well, obviously I need all these things.

I'm an idiot. What do I do? I always buy more crap. So, yeah, I stocked up on my cocaine bear accessories. That sounds like a fun little trip.

It got me through the weekend. Oh, okay. There you go. So, that was my tie-in, hanging out with Cocaine Bear. You know, so many people I've heard use the phrase that it got me through the weekend, referring to cocaine.

Yeah, yeah. I do things a little different than most people. I know you're not surprised by that, but. All right. Are we ready to get into the movie?

I think so. Yeah. It's for you. Strange that you and I have never spoken on the phone. This is long overdue.

What is this place? A shrine. Did you miss me? He's gonna keep coming after us. Maybe he gets to win this time.

We've gotta lure him in. And then we execute him. Scream i hear you're a horror fan. It's been said. Woke up underwater searching at the call I couldn't get any farther from the daylight Was I still dreaming still to a machine Or choking and screaming with my.

Hands tied Calling and calling but nobody comes Falling and falling no air in my lungs Getting so comfortably numb Don't know how I opened up my eyes But. I just. We have once again gone out on the town. We left the house amongst the people. I can go into my neighbor.

That was interesting too. So this horror club out on the town feature is Scream 6. It did actually get a number this time. Where's the little goat? I didn't know if we wanted that every time i thought it might make people want to kill us so if you want to request it for a special episode like an annual event you know we can bring out the goat but i thought we might get ourselves in trouble if it were in every episode thing we might kill each other at that point so the year is 2023 the director that's this year it is i know Let me see if I can get these.

I pulled this from last year because it just seemed like we were doing this. Let's see. Matt Bettinelli? Ole pin. This dude made it hard for me.

Just stick with Gillette. I can do Gillette. And Tyler Gillette. So, AKA Radio Silence has brought us this movie and the plot according to IMDb, which does not put a whole lot of work in this one. Any sequel that starts with In the next installment, which is how this begins, in the next installment, the survivors of the Ghostface killings leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter in New York City.

And that's all they put. So not wrong, but they didn't really throw a lot of extra in there. It's pretty basic, slow as you can get into this movie. So spoiler alert, we're going to run the hell out of this. Every Scream movie that's ever come before it.

And we're on the end and the reveal and the killer and whatever. So just know that now you've been warned. So where do we want to begin? With where we do it every Scream movie, you get a cold open killing every time. Samara Weaving.

I. I'm always kind of thrilled when she shows up, but especially, like, she's got history with these guys. So, like, I only later was like, oh, that's why they brought her in as the Drew, as the special guest. At this point, you get, it's like kind of a big deal. It was sort of a twist thing for the Drew the first time around.

But now, because we all know it, it's almost like stunt casting of like, okay, who can we bring in to be the first kill? Yeah. So. Eventually it's going to be like when Batman and Robin are climbing up the wall and Dick Clark leans out the window. So the opening scene is going to be Sammy Davis Jr. at some point.

Oh, I hope so. Which now, I mean, as we've seen, Skeet shows up and he's been dead for years. Not the real Skeet. Just within the context of the movie, we still have a young version of Skeet. I guess we could have a Batman era, you know, Sammy Davis Jr. getting taken out in a bar somewhere.

What's your favorite scary movie, babe? I just see him hanging out in that bar picking up girls. Well, obviously. I don't need no Tinder. Shit.

Look at me. I'm Sammy Davis Jr. Girls will be all over. So that aside. I was intrigued that they revealed the killer or what we thought was going to be the killer so damn early.

That was my thing. I was like, okay, we know we're getting the cold open kill, but then the fact that immediately takes his mask off. I was like, okay, rules are changing. New city, new rules. So yeah, we've never had that before.

So that's an interesting little twist that we've never had it be a different version. Like it's always our main killer more or less from the beginning. beginning through we've never had a fake out kill which with that I was almost like in a way as soon as they got rid of those two I was sort of like well that's sort of a shame because we had almost an entire movie that could have happened there that we now bypassed. Well, I like the idea, too. When I started to realize, okay, these guys aren't going to... Well, like when the other ghost face is calling.

When the phone call comes, yeah. I like the. Idea of there being a world where somebody's like, well, I'm going to be the next ghost face, and somebody else is like, no, I'm going to be the next ghost face. I'll show you. So, yeah, that was a weird different thing that I was not used to, so...

But I think I realized as we got into that, I was like, well, there's no way you could have done that story and not have it be completely repetitive of what we just had the last movie. So at least for the reasons and the whole main buildup, like you're basically doing the exact same thing that they were doing the last movie. So just for the sake of mixing things up, I guess it's okay that we killed off those two idiots. But yeah, that was an interesting moment of immediately taking the mask off. I was glad that they killed him because.

The the motives behind these killings are getting weirder and like more not confusing but more like well why would just stretched and then yeah like you guys are and and when he was like hard when he was like we gotta finish richie's movie and they were like fuck richie's movie i was like okay. So at least by the end, it almost makes sense not to jump there yet. But I'm like, it's very basic. And okay, yeah, I guess that would happen. Versus we've got to finish his movie for people.

Like, it was crazy enough when those two were doing it last movie. But to then now have the baton passed to other idiots that just were helping him make a movie. I'm like, okay, that... You guys are really into this movie. So, yeah, it seemed...

Again, probably a good thing that we decided to off those two idiots. Right away, this is probably the goriest entry, I think, so far. I mean, I think that's just these directors. That last one was pretty gory. That was the thing I was going to go into.

I did also rewatch the last movie. Because I haven't seen it since we talked about it last year. So I was like, I was kind of in the mood to watch it timing-wise anyway before this one. And I was like, well, I would like to kind of bookend it with this and be able to kind of compare the two. So I did re-watch that one.

And that one's pretty damn gory, too. So I think they just wanted to. This one really lingered over. But this one, yeah, they did not have any problem going extra gross with every kill. So, yeah, even that first one with her is pretty gross, but...

It continues to one-up it each time. We also get to check in on the core group, if you will. The core four. Dorks. Yeah, and there's something about that kid that you see him and you're like, oh, here's the handsome, cool guy.

And then he opens his mouth and it's like. and he seems to be like that for real because then like when I was doing stuff for this I found that they were all doing the like there's an online version of which screen character are you and you answer dumb questions and then it picks oh you're Sydney or you're whatever and they were doing they were all doing that and like at the end it was him and the other sister were sitting there together and he starts like he came out as Sydney he was like I'm the final girl he starts going into this big rant and she's just got this look of Oh my God. And she says by the end, can you cut me out of this? She was like, I don't know what that was. And I'm embarrassed for you.

Like, so he seems like a big dork in the real world. That makes it a little better. Yeah. I like that. So, but yeah, we got a lot more with him.

I realized that watching the other one too, like, He was pretty minimal. Like, we got more of the sister, but we didn't get tons with him. It was just him and his girlfriend fighting the whole time, and then he almost dies. So, like, that was pretty quick for him last time. So we get a little more quality time with the group this time.

And that's what I think makes this different from most dumb slashers, is with each of these entries, like, you get an interesting group of people... And it is interesting that one of the killers is usually in there, if not more. Yeah. So we do, it's something you don't always get from even a whodunit type of thing, that like you don't have the person embedded in your core group. Like you do have them within the context of the movie, but it's just like, oh, it was the spooky amusement park guy all along.

Like, you know, the unmasking is usually just somebody you kind of suspected was weird, but not your core group people, so. That's always an interesting game and has continued on through most of these Scream movies. That's an interesting dynamic and probably way harder to write, I would think. It's a very delicate balance to work them in, but then you can't like them too much and then you can't betray the characters that you... I don't know.

I was rooting for Chad and Mindy the whole way through. And even when they, spoiler, both got stabbed, I. Was like, no. See, that's the thing. We've gotten so attached, as we learned with Dewey last time.

It's like, but no. Oh, I'm still reading about Dewey. And having rewatched the other one now, I'm so annoyed at Gale. Because it is her fault. He was going back to jump back to the last movie.

He stops, sends them down on the elevator, going back for the headshot because that's what you need to do. You have to take them out, make sure they're dead or they'll pop back up. Happens in every screen movie. So he's standing there with the gun in his hand, getting ready to do it. His phone rings.

It's Gail. That's what made him stop just long enough for him to get killed. So as if I didn't blame Gail anyway, I really am annoyed at Gail. So just forever. I'm annoyed at Gail.

Thank God we killed her. Oh, damn it. Can't kill that woman. Well, you know, on the way to the theater, I was like, okay, who from the series, the legacy character, it's like, who's going to get it this time? And I'm like, well, your only options anymore are Gale and Sidney.

And I'm like, well, they're not going to. Sidney's not even in it. Which good for her, but. Could have killed off Sydney even last night. Yeah.

I've thought that all the way along. And I think I said that last episode, I was like, I wanted the carryover character to always be Dewey and have him like continually following this. But I mean, I think the fourth one they should have killed off because they had the great scene in the barn waiting for her to die. Like that should have been where she died. Then you could have the big, you know, send up finale for Sydney last movie and And then have the only carryover for the rest of history to be Dewey limping in trying to solve these damn mysteries.

I'm like, that just seems fun to me. Yeah. But that's not what we get. I say that, and they killed off Nancy in Nightmare. Yeah.

But yeah, but walking in, I was like, yeah, they're going to kill Gale this time. And I was not that upset about it. Oh, when we got to that scene, I was like, okay, here we go. And at least it is a good scene. And I'm like, there are, I mean, you don't out and out hate her.

She redeems herself within every movie and then turn around and becomes an asshole. She does the same thing again. Like every movie. And even this one, like last time, again, just watching the other movie, it was like, they're sitting there at the end of the movie and her and Sydney are best friends. And the other girl comes over and thanks her for helping.

And then like, we immediately jumped to, and she wrote a book and she screwed everybody over. And I was like, of course she did. Cause she's Gail. That's what she does. She sucks.

And man, they took their time with her scene. And I thought, yeah, okay. That's why I was like, this is the big, here's her send off. We're finally getting rid of Gale. And then the paramedics show up.

We go to Pulse. And it's like, son of a bitch. Now that I think, I'm trying to think of like who actually died in this movie. I mean, other than the new characters, we've had tons of new characters. Like the roommate did, but then didn't, but then did again.

Did. That happens. Mindy's girlfriend. The girlfriend who was super cute and had almost no screen time. Yeah.

I was like, oh, she was very adorable. But other than that, it was just the killers, right? Well, all the random people, right? Yeah, and just like a couple of guys who were at the bodega. The bodega guy, he got it.

Yeah, we start with those two at the beginning. Well, we start with her at the beginning, the reading. And then we go to both of the killers get killed. So we've got him in the refrigerator and our ghost face guy. Then I guess everybody that he offs in the bodega.

Was there another? Didn't somebody get shot before the guy with the shotgun? I believe so. I think a couple of people got killed there. Let's see.

The girlfriend got it when she fell off the building. Which when she fell off the ladder, I thought, well, she might make it. And then she smacks her head into the dumpster. I was like, yeah, you don't come back from that. That brained her real good.

Yeah. Yeah. That's bad. But yeah, they had a decent body count by the end of it. Yeah.

I mean, for being like super duper gory, not that many people. Died. At least not any of our like main people. But here's the thing. Like any...

This is my favorite running thing. Like Scream is its own universe. So within the Scream universe, it's not so much about if you die. It's how many... what wounds that should have killed you you rack up before the end of the movie because that's a regular thing like from the first movie I'm like there's people walking around delivering dialogue that should have bled out five minutes ago so like everybody it's just a running thing now I'm. Pretty sure Jenna Ortega got stabbed in the kidney at one point in this movie again and I feel like at the very least that would slow your day down yeah she's just like nope come on everything's.

Cool Well, yeah, the girlfriend before the ladder part got, like, the knife stuck in and then, like, twisted all the way around. She should have bled out quick. And she was still, like, making her way across the ladder. I was just like, no. I thought at least she would get to the window and then just pass out.

Yeah. And Ghostface would come over and stab her in the head or something, but. Yeah, still trying to cross. I was like, well, points to her. She's tough, but an unrealistic version of tough.

And even Chad got stabbed by all three of them multiple times. So I'm like, now he's kind of the new Dewey, I guess, because he should have been dead. And we're like, no, wait, we've got another one. Yeah, Chad totally got Julius Caesar. Oh, yeah.

And that's when I thought, okay, well, Chad is dead this time. And then five minutes later, he's like. Hey, guys. I know. But even our main girl, like, at the end, like, she got it.

Like, she got at least a good shot in the beginning there in the gut. And then another couple, she got slashed on the arm. Like, she had all... And by the end... there's an ace bandage around her and that's it. She's walking around delivering dialogue to different people.

I was just like, she is really mobile for somebody who just went through a whole lot of trauma, like both mentally and physically. So yeah, I do like that. Like, medical rules don't really apply in the scream universe like everything's just sort of a minor flesh wound no matter how much it takes you out unless your brains are splattered on the ground and even then you might pop up one more. Time or you got a knife in your eye yeah yeah they do. Like head shots these two guys because last time we got the weird through the neck shot with wes and then like this time we got one through the nose got we skipped that guy too her wussy ass, uh, psychiatrist.

I was like, what is that about? I was like, okay, so she tells you the thing you've been asking her for six months to tell you and you wuss out and you're like, okay, we're done here now. I can't be with you. You're scary. Also like, yes, there is a harm to yourself or others clause in therapy, but that would be if she was like, I murdered this guy and I loved it so much.

And now I have my eyes set on this specific person. But she just said like, and part of me liked it. And now I'm worried about that. And he was like, no, I can't be your therapist. I'm like, that's not how it works.

I don't know not being a therapist and having never told a therapist this sort of thing. But I don't think, yeah, I killed a guy in self-defense. And you know what? I kind of liked it. I don't think that's enough to be required.

To go to the cops. Yeah, that was annoying, which I think it was meant to be. But I was just like, what? Terrible. Wussy ass therapist.

But I'm also like what therapist has like evening sessions in his own house? On Halloween. Yeah, so whatever. But that did annoy me. I was like, you suck.

And for some, but again, this is just a real world thing, which I love to bring up. If you're bothering to sit down and watch a movie and you are interrupted by something, don't you pause it? Because he was sitting there watching Invaders from Mars. But he got up and it's still running in the background. I'm like, dude, just hit pause.

I thought it was Invasion of the Body Snatchers. No, that's the one. Yeah. But I'm like, just hit pause. You're rich.

You've got some sort of magical TiVo or whatever the hell it is now. I doubt you were watching antenna television. I'm pretty sure you can pause it. That was just a weird real world moment. I'm like, you were watching that.

Why would you just leave it running? And why would you stick your face right up next to the glass door? Because it looks super creepy. Dumb, dumb. I do like that shot.

Again, they do have a good visual style. That shot of all of the making use of the ghost face imagery is, yeah, that's a key to doing these movies. They make use of it. It looks really cool. I think I asked this last movie, and I know that I've asked other people ever since part three probably, but when are they going to pull that mask off store shelves?

And i think i said last year no money wins they're probably making so much off because you saw everybody in freaking new york city was wearing it so i'm like i just feel. Like giving again giving real world scenarios how everybody cancels everything finally wouldn't this be something that people would rally behind it being canceled that's true like 57 people have been killed as a result of someone putting on this mask and chopping them up And it's still our best Halloween seller. I can say in Woodsboro they might. But, I mean, in New York and L.A., the only other places that it really happened, eh, people die all the time there. What do they care?

I feel like the Woodsboro Town Council or whatever they have would have a very strict no. No ghost face policy. Yeah. I wonder if it's, like, more complicated because there's also the stab movies. So then people could argue like, no, it's from the movie.

It's not about the actual crime. I love Stab. Even though it's the same thing. And those people are horribly toxic, as we know. Yes.

If you love Stab, you're a horrible person. Clearly. Everybody who loves Stab seems to have lost their damn mind. Ooh, but speaking of meta movie references... The costume party?

That, I, again, if anyone, I was like, oh, I can't wait till we can talk about it. I know. Because, yeah, when Dorky Boy shows up in his cardboard costume. The, uh, what, Ethan? Is that the new guy's name?

Yeah, whatever, Curly Hair Doofus. At the frat party, he's wearing the cardboard knight costume from Murder Party. Okay. I was like, if anyone's gonna care, it's us. And I was like, ah, Murder Party!

Because I didn't make the Murder Party connection, but I was like, Sweet fucking costume. But what a deep cut. I know. I was like, other people have watched it? The other ones were jokey because I read after the fact that when you get on the train, one of the people is dressed as Mojo Jojo, which I was like, okay, that's a deep cut because I doubt most people know who the hell that is now that aren't old.

But the joke is the voice is the same guy that does our ghost face voice. He did Mojo Jojo's voice. So I was like, okay, that's fun. That's a good joke. And then supposedly either on the train or at the party, somebody's dressed as Wednesday Addams.

Yes. At the party. When they're going up the staircase. I was like, there has to be one of those. That's just not even a subtle joke at this point.

I was sitting there watching it and I was like, well, there's always a Wednesday Addams at this sort of thing. But you've also got Wednesday Addams in the movie. I was like, normally, yes, you would see that probably anyway. But you have to put it in this movie. I mean, that's the reason she is who she is at this point.

It is amazing. That's kind of what I want to go into just in general is just... Okay. Sorry. Sorry.

I didn't mean to interrupt. But before we get to the party, I didn't... And before we realize it's Halloween, like after the first girl gets stabbed, you see the scarecrow walking down the street. And I'm like, what the fuck's going on? And then we get to the party.

I'm like, oh, it's okay. I'm an idiot. Well, it is. I mean... It just complicates things so much more when it's a horror movie at Halloween time.

Yeah. And it's not Halloween. Ups the stakes at all. Yeah. At all moments.

So, but no, I was just like, I like the cast overall, but like, it shows you like, even just since the last movie, the like level of Jenna, like the social impact that like just pop culture impact of her taking over the world in the last year and a half. So yeah, I, I, always been thrilled with her like as one of the few grown-ups that was watching stuck in the middle i'm like she was amazing then and she was a little kid so watching her like get bigger and she's in the second babysitter movie which also has samara oh i don't remember her she's the cool girl that like he like the dorky kid like starts hanging out with and like she's trying to help save him from samara weaving is the her and a bunch of people are the bad guys essentially no spoilers if you saw the first movie.

So like, but yeah. I totally forgot. I've only seen it once. That was one of those times that I was like, I was already like, oh good. She's starting to get movie roles now because she was super talented.

And then, so yeah, there's that. But then she's in X this year. She's in the, well, Wednesday. And then like getting back into Scream. I think there's another horror movie she was in right before that.

So like she's, Just Saturday Night Live last night. That was the thing. That was my whole theme for this weekend is having seen that. Well, I watched the first one, went and saw the new one, came home and watched her on Saturday Night Live. It was like it was a whole big themed thing.

Well, you had a great weekend. I did. I also, while we're on the I'm the kind of dork who buys things, I was rounding out the rest of my weekend. I was going to show you this because I left the movie. And then very shortly, I was like, damn it.

I'm gonna have to get this ghost face mug oh sure it is a three-dimensional raised ghost face on this coffee mug i have here. That is very fun. But the thing i thought was funny and i was like it's cool enough i probably would have had to have it anyway but it doesn't say scream it doesn't say scream six on the back says ghost face and its own branded logo i was just like okay this is like he's gonna get his own saturday morning cartoon now it's like the adventures of ghost face and like a little animated ghost face comes out because i'm like that is very specific branding for someone who's not i mean it's not movie based this isn't the ghost face movie It is, but you'd think it would just be like Scream, but they're so specific about the licensing.

I'm showing you all the writing on the bottom of this mug that's the licensing for this Ghostface image that he gets his own themed Ghostface mug. That's crazy. In the end credits, there was a huge thing about Ghostface is. wholly owned. By, etc., etc., etc. And I mean, it was like four or five lines long.

I think we talked about it last year. Because I think it's in the last movie, too. It's now such a thing that that image. They are really protective of that property. And I have to wonder, though, if the original company, because clearly that was a thing for years before Scream.

And nobody cared, yeah. But I have to wonder if it's the original company that has the rights to it, or if. The original creators just kind. Of got screwed over. Or if, I guess, who put out the first Scream movie, did they have sense enough to immediately like, hey, we want to buy this off you.

I think that's what happened. We know we want to license this. And it's not even Ghostface in the first two movies. Yeah. It's Father Death.

I want to know, does Munch get a cut for this? I feel like our original artist, this is stolen from. His family is not getting a damn dime off of this. I think that's public domain by now. Oh.

Fine. Stupid public domain laws. So anyway, that was my extra tie-in. Somewhere in the middle of all my scream activities, I also stopped to buy a Ghostface mug. Well, how could you not?

Yeah, that was my thinking. He's fun. He's pretty fun. He's starting to creep me out. He's going to creepily look at you.

Hi, friend. Like rom-coms. I want to see it start branching out with different genres. Do you like Real Housewives? Yes!

What's your favorite rom-com? I would like an establishing shot in a movie where Ghostface goes into his apartment, starts vacuuming. See, that's why I want the Ghostface animated show. Yeah. I want him just, he is Ghostface all the time.

He never takes the mask off. He's not out killing people in the show. He's solving crimes with some sort of talking animal. Obviously. Possibly a monkey.

Well, I was thinking I want to insert him into, because now I'm like, okay, it's a Saturday morning cartoon. So I want to like essentially take one. Well, I picked the one that's already rip off of another show. I wanted to like insert him in place of Jabberjaw. In every episode of Jabberjaw, which is already just a ripoff of Scooby-Doo anyway.

So we can combine them and he can be solving mysteries. And he also plays drums in a band on the side. And then he teams up with the Harlem Globetrotters. He's in their space. Yeah, they solve some mysteries.

So if anybody else is on board with this, let's get this going. I want to get some sort of cut off this ghost-faced idea. Yeah, that's true, because really Ghostface didn't do anything. It's just people wearing Ghostface costumes. So maybe the actual Ghostface is a really nice guy.

You can, well, and that's what I was thinking about this. I was like, it's not like it's one character throughout. All these movies. It's not like, because Jason, once we get to a certain point in the movies, he is essentially Jason all the time. Freddy's always Freddy.

Like, it's always that same guy. This is just a costume. And every time it's a different idiot. Several of them, as a matter of fact. So it's like, it is interesting that like the image that we all identify with that isn't the killer.

It's not the same, yeah. Every time. It's just the image of that is used every time. And it is part of what makes it an interesting thing. a difference in this like sub-genre because. It does become fun because you're like who is it who is it but it's that guy oh no he died.

And that was that guy that was kind of why i threw in the intro with joe because i'm like it is like a bastardized american form of you know instead of it being a slasher movie it's really just a whodunit that we're disguising as a slasher movie and it was from the first movie like that's always what it's been so i i like that because it's so different from most of the other slasher type horror movies so for something that has a super identifiable gimmicky character it's very different as far as its origin and or different origin story every damn movie so yep ghost face coming saturday mornings this fall so sidetracked on ghost face yeah But, okay, we have that aspect when we start using... This one also becomes...

Because each one they sort of have to... How are we going to up the ante and tie it into everything before and loop around? Especially these last two because we explain the rules to you once again in extreme detail, which I love. Which I think the rules scene is getting longer and longer. Oh, yeah.

It's going to get to a point where we get five minutes rules and then like five minutes... Which I love. I get a kick out of the rules sequence. I love her just delivering that. And like the last one was so good.

Again, watching it again, I'm like, I get all of a glimpse. I know. She's talking about movies in such a passionate way. I've talked to people who have hated the last couple movies. And that's one of the things that they point out is, well, you get to, and it's like, no, you need that.

Because that's what reminds you that all this is a joke. This whole thing is making fun of the whole genre and on top of it now they're making fun of the movie that they're actually in. Yeah, I don't see how you can have that complaint if you like any of the other Scream movies because they all do that in a different way. The first one just kind of does it with horror movies and movies in general, but each time they kind of veer off a little bit and find a new weird subsection of something to go into. And I think it's helpful.

Well, I mean, once again, it's something that sets it apart from the other ones. It's not just another slasher movie. It is got a built-in commentary from day one that is also not super serious about it. Like, it is bothering to make fun of itself as much as every other horror movie that it's talking smack about. Or just fandom in general.

Because, again, last one was equally as much Star Wars. Yeah. Which I didn't realize until watching, again, watching the last movie, how much Dewey is Han Solo. Like so much so. Like coming back to him, down on his luck, coming in and going to do what needs to be done.

And how's it going to turn out for you? Oh, not so good. But I was like, he's even kind of got the look going. Got the gun on his hip. Yeah, yeah.

He's definitely the Han Solo of the series. And was probably ready to get out of it. Almost as much, not near as much as Harrison Ford. Right. It was like for the little God kill me.

Get me out of this series. Harrison Ford was ready to be done with it before the first day of shooting of the first movie. He was just like, can I die in this movie? No, Harrison. So, yeah, but I thought that was kind of an interesting little parallel because they definitely were making fun of that level of fandom too, not just the overall fan base of Crazy people.

Which they veer away from a little bit with this one. Yes. It's not near as focused like it was the last time. But talking about real world things is the hatred that the Samantha character gets from social media. Which is very real world.

Each one they pick a direction of what's the sort of social thing we're going to comment on. Because by the fourth one we get to just creating your own fandom type of thing. Whereas now we're dealing with almost the other version of that, which is once you've gotten too famous, whether you ask for it or not, then there's like real world backlash that hits you that can destroy your life. And like, you see it happen to people all the time. And we're used to it happening with celebrities, which is interesting because one of our cast members kind of had that.

So. That was an interesting resurgence. We talked about her last time. This time we do get Kirby back. Yes.

Oh, yes. And that was one of those. She grew up. Well, I was playing that game. I was like, didn't she have something?

And there was a thing. And that's why, not to reference last episode, but why doesn't Hollywood cast Kirby in things anymore? And that's kind of what it was. I was like, wasn't there like a thing that she had going on? And that's why she wasn't doing stuff for like years on end there.

And. There kind of was. I don't think it was as big a deal as I thought. Maybe it was a little more canceled because she did something stupid. I think she just had a lot of problems in the real world.

Not to go on Hayden. I like her and stuff. I do wish her the best. But she definitely had some substance problems and she had issues with she had a child and then because of all her problems they were trying to take it away oh no yeah so there was a lot of real world stuff going on and that sort of tied in because i was thinking yeah the last thing i thought was probably nashville which she was very good on. I don't care about Nashville, but the show itself was surprisingly good and she was really good on it.

But I think that's when it hit the worst part. And I think she ended up not being on the show because of everything that was going on after a while. And then she kind of stopped working. So this is really like the first thing she's done in about five years. And part of that was a lot of shit was said about her on the internet.

So I thought that was an interesting real world tie in that, like we're getting this resurgence of Kirby, but, a lot of what's happening to our main character is the kind of shit that she was probably dealing with in the real world. Cause I think a lot of people were talking about her when they didn't even know what they were talking about much like myself. I didn't even know why I just knew something happened with her and people were talking about it on the internet. And so immediately I was like, Oh, do I not like her anymore? Like, and that's what we all do now.

Like everyone is canceled so quickly. We don't even know why half the time I have to constantly go, wait, what did that person do again? Like, how did they get themselves? Like, elizabeth banks i did it i was like she said something stupid didn't she and like she did something before that too and got herself in trouble so that like all these real world things keep sort of manifesting themselves into the movie. Yeah glancing at her wikipedia page um there were some things that she brought on herself and there was some other things that were done to her yeah.

Yeah yeah it's it's yeah so i I was glad to see her back. Like, just back to the movie. I liked the Kirby character. It was interesting. I remember when I went back and rewatched that fourth one, she's just gone.

Like, you just don't really, like, you assume maybe she was tied to the chair and bled out or something, but we just never come back to her. So I'm like, they did either purposefully leave it that way or just didn't tie up that loose end. And we're like, whatever, we're going to finish off the movie over here. And, like, nobody bothered to check on Kirby? Like, so...

I like her coming back and it does kind of make sense. Like it is, it is a funny image because she is so tiny. Yeah. Yeah. So I'm like, man, you had to have an uphill battle getting into the FBI because they are all going to be like, what is this girl doing here?

But the fact that she did survive something like that would vary strongly. Like you would either go into hiding and become a basket case or you're like her saying, she's like, I wanted them to be afraid of me. And so you go the other way and you lean into the, law enforcement aspect of it and, and become, you know, if not a cop, you go to the FBI and you start tracking down serial killers. So I think that wasn't farfetched really. So, yep.

I liked having her back. She did good. Yeah. And was a nice red herring. Because it is one of those, like, you could definitely also see her going crazy.

Yeah. So that is... But as they kept... Like, we get the, oh, she hasn't worked for the FBI. And like, so then everybody's like, oh, it's Kirby.

And I'm like, hmm. But we haven't unmasked her yet. So I feel like it's not Kirby. Yeah. It's like the fact that you didn't immediately see that it was Kirby means it's probably not Kirby.

And then it wasn't Kirby. Yeah. I was relieved it wasn't Kirby. Yeah. I kind of wanted to...

Good things for her. Yeah. Both in the real world and in the movie. We all want Hayden to have a good run here. So welcome back, Kirby.

I am waiting for one of these movies where one of the characters that's already been stabbed in several installments is just like, what the fuck? Again? Well, I mean, didn't we get that last time when they were trying to stab Nev and she already had so much scar tissue that they couldn't get it in? Oh, yeah. And I'm like, that's what everyone in this series should be like at this point.

They're all freaking bulletproof because you've got so much scar tissue. On that note, I did like Jenna's hand scar. It was very visible the whole time. I was like, that should be something you were thinking about since you made the last movie. But I did like that little addition there because they did very obviously shove a knife through her hand.

So that would do a little bit of visual damage there. Yeah, she had a rough day in that last movie. More so, I think, than this one. But watching it again, just re-watching it, you do see almost making decisions to, like, the foot thing is horrible, but I'm like, that's not going to kill you. The hand wound is not going to kill you.

Like, they do a lot more of those gut stabs than they probably should have, so she might have bled out on those, but you do see them making decisions unlike the other opening of the movies when Ghostface is just trying to kill this person. Where this one is plotted out to be like, okay, we're going to do some damage, but not kill her so that the sister will come back. So it is, again, kind of orchestrated a little more in that one. There's a lot that I give that last movie that like it throws out because of the wrap up and the people that are doing it. You have to forgive a lot of the conveniences because they're all coordinated that way by the people killing everyone.

So, like, it does sort of save itself from having a lot of plot hole problems because... And then this one almost had a version of that because all these things are like, well, how would that and how would... Once you've got a cop working on the inside, I'm like, okay, you can get anything you want. As long as you've got connections and money, like, you can get whatever the hell you want. So, the fact that they had everything from the last, you know, decades and like. yeah because when they showed the the museum i was like okay there's no way these two idiots could have.

Gotten all this stuff that's the part that i was like once again you've kind of by the way you wrap up the story also filled in what would have been major issues with the story i'm like well yeah i mean if you've got somebody working from the inside you can get whatever the hell you want. So also i wish that museum was real why don't they make that that would be so cool But not in terms of actual murders, but like memorabilia from all of the screen movies. Or stab, whichever. Yeah, I was like, I would live there. That's amazing.

If you leave a knife that's been covered in blood for like 20 years, would it not, like, would the blood not eat through the steel? I don't know how that works. I figure eventually it would just dry up and fall off, right? Yeah. It was still pretty blood covered on all of them.

And I'm like, I feel like, especially if you're moving it from one place to another, you're going to lose half of the blood at least. Just flaking off. You're going to have to get some historical special people to come in and do their airtight restorations on everything and proper presentation. Yeah. Yeah and seeing all of the different masks and like some of them that were more aged or had different marks that was funny it reminded me of like all the michael myers masks yeah friday the 13th.

Yeah but why did only billy's mask get all old and. Decrepit different stages of it it seemed like because yeah like the fourth one wasn't as bad but then you the further back you go the more beat up they seem like they got but billy's was the worst but I don't know. I kind of wonder, like that's what I was thinking earlier when I was like the way that this one's set up is interesting because he's also leaving the mask there each time. So they're leaving the clues. Once again, this is a mystery as much as it is a slasher movie because they're specifically leaving this behind as a clue for our Scooby gang.

The core board. Yeah, I was like that's different too because it's not just them killing people it's them specifically setting up this whole big ridiculous orchestrated thing and like time down through each one and it does it is interesting they even kind of reference the fact that the second one takes place at college well in the wrap-up not to again, jump to the end, but like, is exactly the same. Yeah. You killed my son and I want revenge. Yeah.

It's the exact same thing. The boyfriend was the killer in the first one. The boyfriend was the killer last time. The parent comes back to get revenge. The parent comes back to get revenge.

Recruits a few extras, but otherwise, I mean, yeah, it's pretty much the same. So again, they both of these movies have kind of capped it off exactly how it should have based on the movie that they're sort of mimicking in it. Now I'm thinking about The seventh one, which would be a reflection of the third one, which was Sydney's long lost brother. Now we find out our new girl's long lost brother that she didn't know she had was bothered by Stu because Stu is coming back. He did.

I mean, they weren't subtle about it this time. Well, at first, though, they tried because the first time they mentioned Stu, they're like, nope. He's dead well they got him on the board they got him on the board is dead 1960 or 1996 and then towards the end of the movie they're like don't be so sure even even our girl is kind of like if you believe that and like she's part of you know she's been there in the. Middle of this the whole time and even she's like if you believe he's dead i was like oh see they're planting that seed They can afford to get Lily back. I would like to see him come back kind of the way Cotton came back, I think, in the second one.

That would be an interesting opening. Where he's not really the killer like you think he might be, but. That's what, yeah, one of the people online, and there are many crazy people online, but their theory was the TV didn't totally kill him, and his parents were super rich, because look up house, So they immediately got to the cops and were like, hey, get my kid out of here. Swap him out with one of these other dead kids of many there are around the town. True.

And just fake the medical records and like took him off to hiding somewhere. So maybe he hasn't been in prison the whole time because wouldn't they have brought him up? They would have been. If he's in prison, then we would have been seeing him doing interviews with him on TV or something. So yeah, it seems like that's more of a, if you're going to have this crazy far-fetched idea, that would be more of a way to go with it so that nobody really knew he was still out there.

Or you could put him in a prison. Yeah. Make him almost like a Hannibal Lecter character where everybody's like, why would you do this? You did this before. Why?

Why is this person doing it? And he's like, well, you see riddles and enigmas. I mean, in a way, again, all of this is super far-fetched and ridiculous. Oh, sure. But now, picturing the current day Matthew Lillard doing that scene, I was like, that would be pretty fucking cool.

That would be amazing. I do like what he's become now. He was very sort of pigeonholed as that character in his younger days, but now seeing him in recent... well, even in the last 10, 15 years, it's like he's done different type of roles and he is aged into where he is now. So it's like it would be interesting to see him pull off not just an older character, but one that's kind of lived a weird life since then and is way heavier about it all. So I don't know.

That would be to see a grown up Stu. I don't know. But I mean, not only do we get the mention of him but we also get the repeat of the tv yeah so we had the actual tv there so that's that's a nice little wraparound tie-in too. And i am glad in this one they didn't lean so heavy on the dead ghost dad hallucinations as they did the previous one i feel like that kind of took me out of it a little bit so i'm glad they they only really had that like maybe once. It comes back at the end but then yeah It leads me to, because that's, I mean, are they going somewhere with that is my thing.

And it also just kind of makes me, as our audience and the kind of dorks who sit around talking about this all the time, I mean, we've watched this girl go off and murder people multiple times now. Yeah. So at what point is our, once again air quotes, hero crossed the line and is like, Okay, I don't know. Maybe I should be concerned about you too. Yeah.

I do feel like your loyalty to your friends and your sister keeps them pretty safe. But in general... you're one push away from being a serial killer yourself. In this movie, it was almost like there was a switch that was flipped because she was like, okay, now it's my turn to kill. Well, she did that last time too. It's like she's victim the whole movie, but then when she gets faced with boyfriend that has screwed her over and is trying to kill everyone around her, including her sister, like, cause that's what, I mean, that's the interesting thing about these two movies versus the others.

And it's a difference between her and Ghostface in these. The stabbing is like insane. Yeah. When she wailed on the boyfriend last movie, it was, what'd she say, 27 times or something? It is a massive amount of stabs.

And it's what she did here, too. She was not fudging around. But that's also what Ghostface now does. Didn't used to do that. But you watch this movie, it is just knife, knife, knife, knife.

It is over and over again. That is... Again, I don't know if that's specifically just the way these guys like to do it, is a whole lot of stabs, or if it is sort of Ghostface, which is weird because it's not one person, is mirroring our sort of hero now, that that's how she does it, and that's also how Ghostface is doing it now, which is weird, because again, there's like, she's one nudge away from being a psychopath, so like, is that supposed to be like that on purpose, that like, she is... Her killing style is very similar to our villain of every movie, even though it's a different person every damn time. So, I don't know.

That was just weird, because that's a very distinctive difference with her versus, you know, Nev just tried to stay alive. Yeah. Like, Nev just ran away, shot people when she needed to, but, like, she didn't... She wasn't full-on psycho like she becomes when she gets to the finale of both of these movies. Like, she takes them out.

So... And her holding the mask at the end of almost questioning things of like, so do I keep this and make this my life's work now? She chooses not to, but there's a minute of her thinking about it. So that's what I wonder. Are they doing something with that?

Like, are those planted there because of where we're going? Like, are they going to do something with that? Or is she just always going to be, super innocent girl until the finale and then she just murders the hell out of a bunch of people. Yeah. I don't know.

And it's tough with that. Like now I kind of hope they don't go with that because they've been like projecting it so much that it just seems like it would be so obvious. And I don't really know a way they could do that without everyone being like, yeah, that's what we thought you were going to do the whole time. Well, and we, they're bothering to make her otherwise a good character. It'd be different if she was just sort of, eh, who knows what's going to happen with this girl.

But like the whole rest of this movie, you know, we love her sister, but like you start to see, cause in the beginning you didn't really know that the last movie, like maybe she would be like, maybe we're introducing her just to make her the killer. Like, so that would be a big twist at the end. But like, Now that we've seen it's not her that movie, it's not her this time, so to turn around and then go that way with the next movie or the one after that is a weird move. We've built so much time with her and our core group of friends, and we've made them a whole little team now, and then to have her turn on them and everything they've been fighting against seems kind of weird. Yeah.

Even if Ghost Skeet's there. Ghost Skeet? I don't think that they will do that, but I think they'll make us... think that. Yeah. Like, I think the next movie will probably focus on her and cute boy across the hall who.

Oh, I forgot about him. He may or may not be the next killer. We'll find out. I mean, he definitely didn't... Oh, I hope not.

I love him. But I think they'll make you think that they're working in tandem. I mean, that was definitely where they were going with him again this time. Sure. It's like he was just there, and then he was there, but he was connected with her, but for some reason she wouldn't tell anybody, which that was weird.

Mm-hmm. And like... They want you to have human contact. Yeah. They all are worried about you because you're a psycho.

Like you having a semi-normal relationship would probably be the most productive thing they could see you doing. But for some reason didn't want to tell them about it. So I don't know. But I do like that they were like making bets on it. I told you.

I knew it. I do like the dynamic between the sisters. Like I do think they, number one, they did good casting because I do buy that they could very well be sisters. Yeah. And then the, even though they've spent so much of their lives apart, that dynamic is there.

And they really do, as much as you feel like they care about each other, she's driving her crazy. So like it's, it's very family like. So I do like that. And it'll be interesting to see, assuming they continue to, Rope both of them into doing this, which I would think at this point you'd throw a hell of a lot of money at Jenna. Yeah.

The other girl's done a few other things, but yeah, she's not like Jenna's the one you're going to have to fight to keep on this franchise. Yeah. Yeah. That, that will be interesting if we continue down the road with both of them and the twins are always fun. So they just have to keep not killing them, which may get more and more ridiculous as it goes on.

But core four. Yeah. I kind of like, That's why I was like, as they're stabbing the hell out of him, I'm like, he just made up the name. They can't kill him off. They can't kill off his sister.

There's four. So that means you've ruined this scenario because you now have to keep all these idiots alive every movie or you're ruining your little game. So they did set themselves up for like, okay, now everybody's going to be upset if you kill any of these four. Yeah. They've got a nickname and everything, even though you can't give yourself a nickname.

He is such a dork. Yeah. Up top. No, don't touch that. There's just moments of them as normal camaraderie kind of stuff that I'm like, yeah, you got to like this group.

They're pretty fun. Well, I did like how they know that they're in danger. But at the same time, they're like, we're just going to sit in the apartment and eat spaghetti and drink wine. Yeah. Good for them.

Yeah. I mean, what else are you going to do? Yeah. I do like she goes through her basic plan, which was last movie, get the hell out of town. That's her immediate move in this one too.

And she's not allowed to because some cops involved. I was kind of glad to see, I've always sort of liked Dermot Mulroney. Oh yeah. I think he's always been good in stuff and he is, he definitely has like weight to be able to pull off the cop role. But at the same time, he's just, By the end, he gets to a believable point of just sort of weirdo.

He pulls off like, oh, no, this guy's lost it. He's definitely over the edge. That is another new... We've never had a third. We had one solo.

We had one solo. We got the duo every time. And then we get to this one where we add a third party into it. Which today I was trying to decide, is he ever in the costumes? Like once the plot gets rolling, it can't be because he's usually there.

But like the opening when he says, nobody cares about fucking movies. Like that seems more like dad. To me. Like dad seems, but I don't know. That's a good question.

Maybe he's never in the costume. Maybe it's just the other two kids the whole time. Yeah, I don't know. It is interesting trying to pin down. You kind of can the last movie.

Rewatching the last one, you can almost every time make out because it's almost always the crazy girl, that skinny chick. Mm-hmm. Which does eventually come into play. I was like, is she wearing like giant Hot Topic boots? Because she is not near that tall as Ghostface in the whole rest of the movie.

Not to mention, I don't know how she's throwing anybody around because she weighs about four pounds. Yeah. And that's, you know, we get that with this girl here too. I'd seen, but like they're thinking she's the one that comes into the one that we think is dead is the one that goes to Courtney's house. and throws that dude through a wall. Yeah.

And I was like, I don't know that any of the three of them could pick that dude up and throw him. Because even the brother is also pretty skinny. The brother's a skinny dude. And he's an old man, so he can't throw in nobody. So between the three of them, you'd take all three of you to throw that guy.

So I do question some of the Again, Ghostface logic. When you're in Ghostface mode, you become Ghostface. I guess so. Which is just all powerful and is way taller and has way more strength than any of our characters. And also super speed.

Yeah, yeah. And can just disappear when need be. But I thought that from definitely by the second movie. Because I was like, Jackie ain't killing nobody. I was like, Jackie, which I think the only one, again, watching that one, I think the only one that was probably her was Randy.

I think she was the one that took out Randy, but most of the other stuff seems like it's whatever wing that was. Whatever that crazy dude, Billy or whatever he was. Mickey? No, Nicky. There we go.

Mickey? Mickey. Mickey. Yep. I haven't watched two in a long time.

I need to rewatch two. I like two. Yeah. I mean, I don't dislike any of them really. Yeah, that's true.

But I will say it's interesting that years ago, when I first saw that second one, I came up with my, again, when have I ever not come up with my own movie? I came up with my own alternate version of what I thought would have been really cool for the second one. And we almost get a version of it here. Because I thought, wouldn't it have been really cool? And I keep trying to do this specifically to this franchise.

I keep trying to switch genres. Like, wouldn't it be cool if... like the whole first movie, she's dealing with this sort of a slasher trying to get out of that mode, goes away to college and gets like caught up in a cult because the quote unquote sorority seemed like a bunch of crazy weird girls. So I was like, what if, and then I was like almost like a sorority version of the black Christmas thing that we had to watch that last, that was a bunch of crazy guys. Like what if the sorority was a weird, crazy ass cult that was like trying to suck her into it. And had nothing to do with it.

I like switching it up and being like, what if we did an entirely different one? And they might be using the Ghostface gimmick, which everybody seems to do, but using it for this weird cult that they came up with. Which is almost weird. Like, all the fan theories before when they saw the trailer, when you saw the curtain open up and you had all the masks and robes up there, everybody was like, oh, Ghostface cult. Like, everybody... theorized that's where we were going to go, which, again, would have been an alternate kind of interesting version if somewhere in New York, like a true crime, maybe that's our commentary, is the people obsessed with true crime started an entire cult based around this real world bunch of murders.

I kind of thought that's where we were going towards the end. I did. The two ghost face pop up, and then we know that the dad is orchestrated and all, but we don't know he's the dad yet. But then I'm starting to think, How many of these fuckers are there? Yeah.

Because I just expected boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. That's kind of what I thought for a minute. And then I was like, no, I think they're just going with the you killed our son and our brother and we're pissed at you. Which is a way more basic thing. It's a lot easier to believe than a super well orchestrated cult.

Oh, but now I want to see a cult one. But see, like from number two, I thought that would be a cool idea. I mean, yeah, I guess it's easier than a whole cult. But is that... an easy way to get revenge on somebody I. Mean start a cult well no not the cult are any of these.

Based on an easy way to. Get revenge yeah a lot of this is yeah all these are revenge based but man there's a lot of work. They go to a lot of trouble for these plots yeah that's true you could just like turn them into the IRS for tax evasion or something well. They gotta like the kids have to enroll in college are you making those tuition payments like man ugh. I feel like Billy would have just been better off if he just killed Sidney straight out because he had plenty of opportunities in that first movie.

And of course, none of this would have happened. But once again, even in this movie, well, no, it was the last one that reminded us that none of this would have happened if Gale wouldn't have written that book. So, once again, it's Gale's fault. Everything is Gale's fault. I, like, evened it all on Gale.

Well, I love that they showed the display case with, like, all of her books in it. Yeah. Because she keeps screwing everybody over and writing terrible books about them. Well, and I think I asked this the last time, too, but at a certain point, aren't the publishers going to start to be suspicious of Gale? It's like, why does this keep happening to you?

Yeah, why are you always around? And you keep writing books about it. You are the only one here every time yeah so at least that if we could kill off gail by making her ghost face eventually whatever it takes to kill her off. That'd be fun. Only because i'm not attached because i was kind of glad they didn't go that route with sydney like it would be Like, after all of the other movies to then turn around and make her Ghostface.

I'm just like, well, that just seems like... What have we been doing all the. Rest of the. Yeah. What are we fighting for in all these other movies if she's just going to end up Ghostface and get killed anyway?

So, I do like... That's the thing. I didn't know. I assumed she wasn't coming back after the last one. It seemed like a nice wrap up.

It was only today, getting ready for this, that I read it was for financial reasons. Like, she was written in the original version of this script and... And they had to do massive rewrites when what the studio was offering her was not enough. And I was like, that's weird. Because again, you made a lot of money on that last movie.

So why would you not get your most important key legacy character? I mean, again, Courtney Cox can come and go. Dewey's already out. So like the only one you needed to throw money at was her and you didn't? Like, truthfully, I think it's fine because I thought it would be weird if she did.

Like the Gale one at least makes sense because she already lived in that city. Yeah. Yeah. So we knew that from the other movies. She's been there for years.

So it's like that, at least for placement and convenience wise, made sense. But why would Sydney come dragging all the way to New York City when, again, even the last movie, the first thing that when it happens, she's like, I don't want to be anywhere near that town. So, yeah, all she needs to do is get the hell away from all of it. Why wouldn't she stay away? And then how could you have her in here and not have it just be a repeat of the last movie?

Yeah. Because she wasn't really the main character of the last movie. She just came in. Yeah, I think having her and Sam and I guess Tara was Jen Ortega's characters. Yeah.

I think having all three of them in too many movies would just be too much. It worked last time. It worked last time. Because I liked the passing of the torch. Using their own phrase there.

But yeah, I feel like it really was sort of like capping things off. And we had her come back in in a very different place. She's definitely a really different girl than she was even in some of the sequels. Like she is a very different person by the time you get to this super grown up, really kind of calm, cool and collected and packing a gun, pissed off version of her. And I'm like, good for her.

That's where she would be at this point. But it also would make no sense. And then how would you not have it just fall back into that same mechanics of, oh, we're in trouble. Here she comes back with a gun again. Last time I said she was the Charles Bronson of these movies.

Just come rolling into town. You got a ghost face problem. And like, so she just, every movie would become that if that's what they kept doing. So like, I think it made more sense to write her out and be like, okay, she's done now. Like she did that.

She, as they said, she deserves her happy ending. Let her go be with her kids and her husband and not get involved in this bullshit from here on out. So yeah. yes i mean they left the door open enough if they throw enough money at her down the road and they want a cameo they can bring her back but we don't really need her for the constant plots going on in these other movies or it starts to like gum things up i would think so i didn't know that that's why but like i think it works better without her no offense i really like her i would have much rather seen her than courtney but. I think the movies that she was in. She's great yeah She was great in the last one.

But now that we've got to focus on somebody new, let's just keep it on the new people. Go ahead. Yeah, I think dragging it on forever is just going to be tiresome in so many ways. It's like if we're passing the torch, pass it, and you go somewhere else and. Do something else.

But I could also see them say, okay, it's time to make these movies tired. now like make that a conscious. Yeah well that's why i do like they didn't kill her off off screen or something like she's still out there so if several more movies come along and we need to have her come back as the big finale like that can happen and then i might be okay with it but i think along the way just having her show up randomly to be a fourth character down i'm like this yeah like that seems weird and pointless so yeah i kind of liked it with her out of the picture now because why would she want to be back every step of the way she didn't want to be involved in this bullshit so it's like at least gail had the ulterior motive of constantly reporting on it and then writing books about it so again being the character she was it makes sense that she's always in the middle of it whether we want her there or not but sydney doesn't want anything to do with it so it made more sense that she was gone yeah.

There was a... The moment itself wasn't funny, but there was a moment where they... The ghost faces... How do you pluralize this? Is it ghost faces?

Ghost face eye. Because that kept bothering me the whole movie. But there is a scene where the two of them stab somebody together, and then they stand up in unison, and they wipe the blood off the knife, which is the signature ghost face. Yeah, that was cool. It was cool, but I'm...

Gimmicky, but super cool. But I'm sitting there thinking... I feel like in real life, one of the ghost faces, hey, did you see where I wiped it? And you wiped it, wasn't that cool? And then they'd be giggling about it for like, which is what I would do.

Or I can see, especially because they're brother and sister, can you see them out of uniform, standing around their own house going, okay, look, we're both going to time it. Like practicing beforehand in like shorts and a t-shirt going, and then we, one, two, three. And then like, so then... For like six or eight times in a row. But no, you did it too soon.

Dumbass. Like seeing them bickering, being siblings and like trying to get their special uniform version of doing it. I just feel like a high five after that would have been understandable. Yeah. Fist pump.

Yeah. Nice. I will say the train that they're on on the subway scene is the one train which was my train. And I was like, ah! You might have almost got killed by Ghostface is what we're saying.

Maybe. I have a picture somewhere on my phone of me going to the Greenwich Village Halloween parade on that train and it's like the whole thing is full of people in different costumes. So watching that scene especially, I was like, I've been there. Again, they were really good at setting up, like, it's a ton of set pieces this time. I guess every time.

But definitely these last two movies and, like, the train scene is super creepy. Yeah. Like, the apartment scene with, like, that one goes on way longer than you would think for, like, being trapped in an apartment with Ghostface seems like everyone would be dead really quick. But, like, somehow they find ways to keep like taking it to the next level in the next room and then you barricade the door and you're going out the window so like that was a pretty well orchestrated so i think each of them especially by the time you get to the theater at the end is like a big grand finale in the theater so it is very cinematic at that point we even get the end credits with his dumb movie With Red Right Hand.

Yes. Did he license Red Right Hand? Because I feel like. I'm not familiar with. Red Right Hand.

Dude needs to sue him. The song that plays like every. Every. The theme to Scream. Red Right Hand.

We'll play it at the end. Oh, okay. But it played at the end of his movie that was running when they sat down on the stage. And we're like, whew, just killed a bunch of ghost faces. I kind of was hoping that they would just end the movie right then.

I thought, yeah, like that was going to be the credits. And then it went on for a couple more minutes and I was like, oh. It was fine. But we had to have it pop. That would have been great.

We had to have it pop back up again because that happens every movie. Yeah, that's true. And then the ambulance scene so. You know they're not dead. So you know, wait, we got one not dead person that you thought was dead.

Yeah. Sometimes two or three because everybody gets stabbed 14 times in these movies. But they'll be okay. So much. They'll be okay.

I do like, I mean, again, the sister thing and the wrap up, like they even work in the you've got to let me go, but hand me that blade first, by the way. So I do like that moment of, again, Jenna just really selling that of like, no, give it to me. I've got this. She takes a hit in the stomach, but once again, everybody gets those. They hand those out at the door when you come in that theater.

All right. Welcome to the theater. I think I got one on the way into the theater. So yeah, I do really like that scene of, of her and, I'm going to deal with this myself because she was still such a kid the last movie and seemed that way. She just reads so much younger.

So it was weird that I'm like, yeah, everybody else. Okay, I can see him going to college. I'm like, isn't she like 12? She just feels like such a kid. So it is kind of good to see her like graduate up even within this plot of like, no, I can handle myself.

Give me that blade. I'm going to go kick this person's ass. Does anybody else besides me feel like she's starting to look like Rosie Perez. A little bit? There's nothing wrong with that.

No, I'm not. There's nothing wrong with that. But yeah, Jenna's adorable. I think it's the chin. Jenna's adorable.

She was pretty damn good on Saturday Night Live. This is a weird thing to be attracted to, but I do like a woman with a strong chin. It was interesting they didn't do all of the main stuff that got her there. She works better in the skits. The monologue at the beginning is just kind of like, hey, I'm here.

Like, it's kind of weird because even she's like, I was just here touring this like a few years ago with my parents. And before that, they wouldn't let me stay up and watch Saturday Night Live. So she's like, this is kind of a weird ride for me. So it's kind of, it does come off a little awkward in the monologue. But like, once she gets in those scenes, She's just good.

She's always good. I didn't watch the whole episode, but I did like her on the ridiculousness thing. The one with the... Yeah. That was maybe my favorite one because, again, it just shows her committing.

They keep doing this... I guess that's a real show. I don't know. Yeah. I don't have MTV.

I don't have fancy cable anymore. I don't have cool stuff like MTV, the cutting edge of music television. But yeah, so they're doing clips of people falling down and every time like she's just like supposed to be there as a as a TikTok person to comment on it. And instead she backs it up with a story of something horrible and just kind of laughs it off. It's like, yeah, that was really fucking weird.

And everybody's like, oh, God, like. So she's, yeah, that's maybe the best one of the night. That was pretty awesome. But yeah, they didn't do a Wednesday sketch. They didn't do a scream knockoff.

Like all of the things that you think they would have gone for as the go-to, they didn't do. They kept in the promos, they kept talking about they were going to do the Wednesday dance, but like didn't do anything really. They just, she mentioned them in the monologue and that was it. Like she was just like one of the cast the rest of the night. So cool.

She's good though. She's always good. But I was, I brought her up earlier of the, the fandom that is centered around Ghostface and the screams as it were when I got to the theater I come in and as always I've said this last time I was like I'm more and more weirded out being next to people now I don't know if that's pandemic or if I've I mean I've always kind of been you know get away from me but I don't remember it bothering me as much in theaters and now all of a sudden it like registers that like you're right next to some weirdo it's different if you know them But like when you just pick a seat and like you're stuck with some whoever. But this time this girl was like, she had the seat kicked up because it was super reclining seats like all of them are now.

But she was like leaned back in it and had her legs. So she was like laying in it like with her feet up sideways. Like she was laying on the couch at home. So she was doing that most of the movie. And like I just didn't really pay much attention.

So at the end she was like bagging stuff up. Like, I don't know how much stuff she brought with her, but, like, she had a bag. And for, like, the entirety of the credits, which I sat through, she's just putting stuff away and getting stuff situated and zipping up her boots. I was like, what? Were they off altogether?

She just settled in. But as she left, I hadn't... Again, it was dark most of the time. I hadn't really paid much attention. But she's wearing a Scream baseball cap with Ghostface on it.

She... As she left, she had the giant boots on that the girl from the last movie needed to be wearing because they had giant platforms. So she had those on and zipped them up, but she had ghost face socks on. Cute. I want some.

And had a purse with ghost faces on it. So I was like, well, you are all in. Yeah. You are committed to the, you might be starting a cult right now. You should have, you should have. followed her had her on the show that could have been a little creepy so i was just like well if you're out there listening let me know if you're one of many girls probably at this point i think there's a lot of weird horror girls that probably have all of those accessories so if it's you hey write in let us know i want some you just need to go shopping I'm sure at Hot Topic they'll have you covered right now.

Oh, gosh. You can get the giant boots and socks with Ghostface on them. I feel like if I walked into there, I would just, like, dissolve into dust immediately. I'd be like, you haven't been here in 17 years. I like to go in to make the kids uncomfortable.

I'm mostly there to look at whatever stuff they have that's this, which I actually didn't get from there, surprisingly. But I did go there afterwards. And I do like that some 14 year old has to greet me every time like hey let me know if you need anything and I'm just like you don't want to talk to me I know you don't want to talk to me I find. When I go in there the other people that are in there that happen to be my age are usually being drug around. By oh yeah by a 14 year old.

Teenager and the people my age often make this sound ugh. Ugh I wonder when my oldest niece is going to get into that stage because I will totally take her to the mall. But you know what? The last time I went, it was not the dark, dungeon-y type place it used to be. It's all bright colors.

It's pretty corporate. It's always been. Corporate, but it went from being gloomy and gothy to anime and... yeah there's a lot of anime oh but i mean that's very cute and not that's money cute that's cute cute because that's. Where the money goes that's where they've always been because i remember someone who's been on the show years ago used to work there and like that's the thing like they got into it back when it was like even the remember the tagline was like it's about the music yeah and like they weren't really even a music store they had some cds and shit but like But even at the time, they also, all of their focused brands were the most mainstream crap of that type. Then I'm like, the kids coming in probably don't like any of this because it's super mainstream crap.

There's a handful that mom brought them there, but like any of the legit cool kids, first of all, probably wouldn't come here. And if they did, they wouldn't like any of this music you're playing. So I always thought they were a weird mixture of trying really hard to be cool. And I'm like, you know, that's not how you get cool, by the way. Trying real hard makes you not cool.

Try to remember what age I actually was. when I walked in there and thought it's ridiculous for me to be here. But I guarantee it was far later than what most people would find acceptable. No, I have not hit that point. Again, it's almost out of spite at this point. I'm like, oh, I know.

Everybody that works here is about 15. I go in there and. I head straight to the clearance t-shirts because at one time they had a bunch of stuff that I liked but a lot of people don't like so it would eventually get clearanced out and I'd get it for like $ 3 or $ 4. You can't go to any of the quote unquote cool stores and buy clothes though, especially pants because they're all made for someone. No matter what size you buy, there's six sizes smaller than any human should be.

So as an old guy, you don't need to buy clothes there. But those t-shirts, even those are probably, even those are cut stupid now. I don't know why they have to do that. Just make a dumb t-shirt look like a dumb t-shirt. Well, they put them in what's called the athletic fit.

Athletic, which means girl fit. And I'm sorry, but guys watching anime all day are not going. To be athletically fit. Not the mode you're looking for. I've been to horror conventions.

The horror guys that are there for Scream stuff probably aren't athletic. Yep, so the fandom, that's equally as much, so. That's what originally started this. I was sitting next to somebody who was stocked up in Ghostface. So I didn't feel quite so bad buying my mug afterwards.

Like, well, I'm not as far down the rabbit hole as she is. So I just got my mug here. Yeah, we went on Friday night and the theater was totally packed and like a lot of youths and teens. And I was like, yay. I mean, I hated it because I want to be the only person in the movie theater and I don't want to be around people.

But for horror, it's different. The next generation. I think horror is the few times it helps, actually. Yeah. Because I remember that from the last one.

I remember it being like a big reaction. There wasn't as much this time. I mean, granted, I went in the daytime, so maybe that wasn't as cool a time to go. But, like, this time was just pretty quiet the whole time. Whereas last time, like, there was a big response from the audience, like, a lot of times about different stuff.

And, like, this time, eh, everybody just showed up and watched the movie. Normally, that's what I want. But in a horror movie, I expect a little more. But, yeah, there wasn't as much this time. Just crazy girl next to you.

There were, like, six other people in the show I went to. Of course, I also went At 12.30 on a Saturday. Well, again, that was me. I'm an old man. That's what I did.

I'll go to sleep if I go at night. I mean, it's past my bedtime. I specifically went that early so I could save a few bucks. No, I go because it's the only time I'll stay awake. I was sleeping.

Yeah, I'm like, it's true. I'm like, I have not gone to an actual movie in a theater in the evening after doing other stuff during the day. I will be full on asleep at that point. Yeah. that has nothing to do with the theater although it doesn't help that they recline. You i know the chairs are so comfy i was like i should have brought a blanket but then i would have absolutely just fallen asleep.

But i do that at home too so i have to plan out when to watch things to make it through so we can talk about them because if not i'll fall asleep like well we can't talk about the movie this week because i slept through the whole thing so sorry guys. I i feel like as the you as the host of the show, that would be awesome. If it was just me and Nora talking about it, you're like, ah, whatever. Yeah, that sounds interesting. I don't know.

I didn't see that part. From the beginning, what happens after that blonde girl gets killed? After that, I was out. Because there have been times where... time has been tight and i just barely squeeze in the movie and i thought well wouldn't it be fun if i just don't watch it and just go there anyway i don't know that. The audience agrees we usually make them watch these dumb or at least tell them to suggest it you don't have to but.

Yeah they're gonna be like if i have to watch it that's yeah. That's what i feel like every time that's why i'm like oh no i'm watching it i'm gonna do a little bit of research at least and figure out what the hell we're talking about but Just because I ask other people to watch it. I feel responsible at that point. I may eventually, if we watch a movie that is so bad that I get to the halfway point and feel like turning it off, I may eventually follow that impulse just to see how the rest of it plays out when I get here. It'll be a surprise for you.

You guys are like, and then all of a sudden... You're like, whoa, really? I mean, yeah, I like that part. That was my favorite part. so are we glad that we're moving forward on this it seemed like i mean they left a few open doors but i mean the last one sort of capped things off so i feel like the last one almost stood on its own as a requel but like this one feels like it's fully connected to that last movie so this does feel like almost a new franchise or a new offshoot franchise more or less so like are we glad to see six more of these coming down the line? Or, I don't know.

Are there supposed to be six more? I'm making up that number, but I'm sure, I mean, this one got greenlit like a couple of weeks after that last one opened because it did so well. So immediately they were like, okay, we can keep doing this. I think it had, it already won the weekend going into this weekend. I don't know that it will do as much.

Again, I'm getting, just looking at stuff today, it's like the fans that I was seeing online were really into it, but I also feel like this one could rub people the wrong way and like not so hardcore fans would totally drop off and it won't make the kind of money the last one did. So I don't know. I really liked this one. There's supposedly in this poster, which Nora was happy or kind enough to bring us. Yeah, we did get posters.

Thanks to Nora. Supposedly, and I haven't studied it yet, but supposedly there's all sorts of Easter eggs referring back to the original movies and. Well, if you remember, last episode we brought up, because we said, hey, we're watching Scream next time, and we started talking about what's the neighbors at the McKinley house or whatever from the original one that lived next door to Drew's family. They bring them up in what was either in the poster or what people were talking about fan-wise before. They were like, that's going to tie in.

That family got murdered too, and then somebody that was related to them now lives in New York or something, but None of that happened, by the way. So all of that fan theory nonsense went nowhere in the real movie. So I thought that was interesting because I think that was tied to the original poster that they put out had something with like a news feed about that family, which when you go see the movie is not at all featured in there. No. I would like to see Stab the Musical, though.

I would like to see that. That's great. And they advertise it twice on here. Everything that was a movie becomes a musical at this point. Yeah.

I can't imagine it not eventually. I mean, we'll have a screen musical soon, right? I think eventually, yeah. That would be great. Every other thing that was a movie is now a musical.

There is an Evil Dead musical. Oh, yeah. And it's been very popular, so. There was a Carrie musical. Yeah.

Years ago. It tanked. For a long time, it was kind of the benchmark for bad musicals. I knew of it. And then, like, again, back to one of my favorite.

But back to our last episode, I'm still watching the WB. Just the CW. But one of their plays that they did in high school on Riverdale was Carrie. So they did the Carrie musical as one of the plays they did. So, yep.

That seems very fitting for them. yeah they are a dark ass show oh my god i love it but talk about crazy and over the top and ridiculousness but i mean in the best possible way so yeah yep. But yes i liked this one i think i did i liked it more than five i yeah it's. A toss-up because i like i said i feel like five almost works on its own like i feel like you could just watch five in the first one and you wouldn't miss too much in the in between. And like, you'd get all of the, it kind of caps it off. And I'm like, it really does sort of bookend the two where this only works with the last movie.

So it's like, I don't know. I, I'm trying to decide as I rewatched, The fifth one yesterday, I was like, am I going to revisit this one? Like, if I'm only going to go back and visit one every once in a while, am I going to come back to five more often? Because it's its own reboot, recall kind of a thing. And that makes it work better as a revisit.

Or do I just want to watch this one because the stuff in New York is really cool? Because it is. I don't know. I still haven't decided. I almost feel like I could be happy with just one, two, and five.

Like if I had to watch several of them over and over. I like three. A lot more than most people. I like three too. I like three.

Like just again, I like the... Because it's so commentary on the movie part of it. So it's like the fake house that's like... Again, they did that in the third one. We come back to the real house in the fifth one.

But like the fact that they created the fake version of the house that all of it took place in, in the first movie... It's really cool. It's also been a long time since I've seen that one. Again, I like what they did. Again, Dewey's awesome in it.

I like having a fake version of Gale there, so I love Parker Posey anyway. I already don't like Gale, so I'm like Team Parker Posey all the way. Doesn't really work out so good. Spoilers. But. the tone of the third one is definitely weird it's very like it's different yeah and like very different funny um yeah maybe i just need to watch them all again that's the thing i don't think there's a i know i just want to go four.

Is the off one for me but i still think a lot of it's pretty great so yeah i don't know they're all pretty great so i like this one Just as much. Like, I haven't really been let down with any of them along the way. No, not really. No? They're always good.

But I do feel like the people who hated Part 5, and. There were a lot... Oh, yeah. Are going to really hate this one. Yeah.

I do... I mean... Of weird things that they do this time too, the image of Ghostface with a shotgun is freaking awesome. Yeah. And I know hardcore fans hated that because we've never, he only, they, the killers only resort to a gun at the end once they're unmasked.

Like you never see Ghostface with a gun until it's the big reveal and then they hold people at gunpoint. But like, i don't know that was just a great scene like he's just going to town murdering people right and left with a shotgun and i was just like this is a whole new ghost face like. Well i gotta have fun when he started using the gun i was like ghost face doesn't use a gun but then i was like. This is awesome well and once again i was like ghost face isn't an anybody but ghost face is whoever puts on this damn thing so it should be different every. Time and she had already explained that the rules change at this point again really because that's what he said in part three every movie uh so it's like yeah anything goes now yeah i.

Liked it because again we reset whoever the killer is every damn time so the ghost face shouldn't really be uniform it should be different to some extent every movie we just have to play on the Key things that still make us come back as the audience and what we like about Scream, but it still should vary realistically. I still want to see, and they showed it in the last one when they're rehashing the Stab movies and how ridiculous it gets. But Ghostface with the big rippling muscles and the flamethrower. And the shiny face. And the shiny face.

Shiny mask and a flamethrower. But the big rippling muscles and the flamethrower. That's what I want out of Scream. I want them to be serious about that. I blame the Knives Out guy for that one.

Sure. But yeah, I enjoyed this one quite a bit. And maybe a chainsaw. I can see Ghostface with a chainsaw. I mean, the fact that we haven't gotten one yet is kind of surprising.

Yeah. For being as meta and commentary on horror tropes as it is, it seems like we already would have started working in references to other killers in movies. They constantly talk about them, but we'd start getting kills that were sort of like making fun of other horror movies. So I think we're getting there. Or just to have them go full on Wile E.

Coyote with like giant rockets and I think that's going to be in the animated Ghostface special. I'm holding the mug right now. I'll take it. Ghostface. Ding.

We just got the little image pop up. Got him wink at you because the mask can wink. I don't know how. But it's animated and it's going to be great. He's going to have rockets and Acme based products.

It's going to be awesome. Really, we need to get this animated show going. I would totally watch it. And it's also a musical. We'll have a musical episode during one of the seasons.

You always have to have a musical episode. He's going to paint a giant tunnel on the wall. The kids are going to run through it. He'll run smack. Into it.

Damn it, man. Why didn't that work? It just makes no sense. Those darn kids. I want this so badly.

I would have gotten away with it if it weren't for those darn kids. Oh, man. This sounds great. It's time. Uh, hello, I'm rolling now.

You make me wanna die. I'll never be good enough. You make me wanna die. And everything you love will burn up in the light. Shotzi!

Oh, yeah. We have to actually roll again. We took a time off. But this is very fitting because, number one, once again, I went out in the world. I only do it occasionally.

But I went to a dorky place that had 20-sided die. And I saw one there and went, you know, every time it lands and we all go, I don't know, what's it say? So I was like, what if I got one that was a little easier to read because we all need help. And... Then as I got it, I was like, oh, this is perfect because it's almost color-schemed.

It's the black and white version. Look, it's like Ghostface. And I think the 20 has this weird emblem on it, so if it lands on whatever the hell that is, we're going with 20. I don't see a 20. I see a 9.

Somewhere here. That thing. That's just supposed to be your 20? Yeah. It's like a torch or something.

So, are we ready to roll the new and improved With more legible numbers, ghost face die. Roll it. I think it's the only time I've heard a singular chant. Roll it. And then just nothing.

Okay, here we go. I got a five. Five. Look how easy to read it is. This is like for grade schoolers.

I did it from across the table. There you go. Wow. All right. All right.

This one could be an extra challenge because this list has been going on so long. When I put it on here, it was on Netflix. And last time I checked, I don't think. It's on Netflix anymore. So we might have to go seek this one out.

This is Hungerford from 2014. Hungerford? Is that one word or two? According to what I typed, one word. And I think it was just me looking for sort of more newer, which it's sad that newer to me is 2014.

But I was looking for just different stuff that I didn't know much about. I'm getting results on Google for the Hungerford Massacre. Maybe that's just people who watched it and then killed people. Did you say what year it was? 2014.

Okay. Yeah. IMDb has it as. Oh. Is it foreign?

Does it have anything to do with a car crash? Yeah, the poster art's got a lady screaming with an upside down car. Oh, is this a found footage movie? Let's hope not. I didn't pick it because of that.

Alright. The lives of a group of teenagers are flipped upside down after their town is taken over by sinister forces. I. You don't want to see it? No, that was an I.

It isn't an okay, I'll watch it. I don't know what I think about this is where you were going. What did you think I was trying to. I thought you were saying I... Like dot, dot, dot.

Oh, no. I was trying to say I-ite. I see. As the kids say. Do they?

Have you been hanging out with Hot Topic again? I don't know if they do. And the fact that I can't say it right just proves that I'm miserably out of touch. Oh. We're old.

But that was what I put on here. I don't even remember how it ended up there. But that tells you you need to come on board and give us some new titles. Because that one's been there so long, I don't even think it's on Netflix now. So we have to seek this out and figure out where the hell Hungerford ended up.

So we've got an empty spot. When you join the Meltdown Horror Club, you can give us a movie that's probably better than Hungerford. I don't know. I haven't seen it yet, but that's how we do this. You join the club and then you get to listen to all the episodes and you get to give us a movie to put on this list so we can roll this fancy new ghost face die that I got.

Join the club. Again, we're particular chanting. I don't think she knows how chants work. We definitely have seen you do it before, though, because you were chanting. for house of wax last time but you got more than one recorded proof. Quit sort of damoclesing me.

Join the club. I'm going to loop it and run that over and over. You can't just one, because I know the editor of this show. I can work around that. Yeah, I haven't found this yet.

I'm not done looking. You got until next time to come up with it. And so does everybody else out there. So go watch Hungerford. Whether you're going to like it or not, we'll find out.

And we'll come back next time and discuss. Anything else to pass along? Be careful on the subways. Somebody might stab you in the gut. But it's okay because it's just a minor wound at best.

Yeah. It's like stubbing your toe in the Scream universe. Like, oh, damn it. Gut wound. Yeah.

Don't get stabbed. Yeah, I try not to get stabbed. Words to live by. And if you do stab anybody, don't say that we led you to do it. Yes.

We did not encourage that. It's a hassle we just don't need. We're starting a cult, but it's a different kind of cult. Sure. Sure.

All right. I'd say that about does it for this episode of Ghostface. Otherwise, that about does it. We will return next time. Same geek feed.

Thanks for listening. Bye, everybody. Outro Music. I just can't take it. Let's get some games.

You're bad, you're abusive, it's a lie, it's a game You're bad, you're bad, you're bad, you're bad You're bad, you're bad, you're bad, you're bad. Oh my God, can't believe what I saw as I turned on the TV. This evening, I was. Disgusted by all the injustice. All the injustice.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Join the club.
